A franchise declares who it is when it chooses certainty over churn, and that’s exactly what we unpack as the Kings lock in Adrian Kempe on a 10-year deal with a savvy, bonus-heavy structure. We get into why that number and term make sense relative to his two-way value, how the no-move and no-trade protections frame the next era, and what it signals about retool talk. Then the plot twists: Doughty’s toe puts Brant Clarke center stage, the defensive metrics trend up, but timely finishing and special teams decide three razor-thin results.

Across town, the Ducks face a different kind of tension: a promising blue line that doesn’t have enough nightly seats. We lay out the real choices around Pavel Mintyukov—AHL reps to rebuild rhythm, rotation with clear standards, or exploring value—while spotlighting Ian Moore’s poise on his off side and Olen Zellweger’s OT killer instinct. Cutter Gauthier and Leo Carlson keep stacking milestones, yet PK leaks against Boston show where precision still matters. It’s a week of last-minute equalizers, gutsy goaltending, and the kind of 3-on-3 reads that show which prospects think the game at NHL speed.

We widen the lens with quick hits from around the league: timely extensions, tough injuries, Hellebuyck’s procedure, and the IIHF’s move to mandate neck guards at the 2026 Olympics. And yes, we make the full case for more color-on-color games after that gorgeous Red Wings vs Rangers showcase—why select matchups pop on TV, how to avoid clashes, and how rituals like Halloween and Black Friday could become visual events in Southern California.

If you care about roster building, development paths, and the tiny details that swing one-goal games, this one’s for you. Tap play, then tell us: should LA keep stacking defense-first minutes, should Anaheim send Minty down for runway, and which color-on-color matchup needs to happen next? SPEAKER_03 (01:16):
Welcome back, hockey fans, to episode 89 of Royal
Equat, brought to you by theElite Sports and Entertainment
Network.
Cody, how's it going today?

SPEAKER_00 (01:31):
Uh, good so far, I guess.
I'm on call this week for work,so I'm I always dread these
weeks, especially the weekends, because that's when I usually
get the most calls.

SPEAKER_03 (01:41):
So yeah.
I'm I'm on call almost every dayanymore.
Fortunately, I don't have to godrive typically somewhere a
bomb.
Yeah, I don't have to drive abomb everywhere.
Yeah, I will I will have todrive Friday because uh I I have

(02:02):
two guys off, and one of them ismy cover driver, and I'm gonna
have to train my lead on a routebecause he's never been on it
before.
And I hope nobody calls out.
If we do, we're gonna be reallyshort.
Yeah, we'll make we'll make itwork.

SPEAKER_00 (02:23):
Yeah, all right.
Well, you want to get intoKing's news first because I know
you got some exciting news.
Of course I do.

SPEAKER_03 (02:33):
Let me just pull that up real quick.
All right, the exciting news, and I hope most of you know this
already.
Adrian Kempe and the Kings havecome to an agreement on a
10-year 10.65 million AAVcontract.
Now, part of this contract, it'sa little bit more complex than

(02:57):
most of them we report.
Or maybe we just don't give allthe every detail, especially on
the other teams players, as muchas this one, but his contract
includes a four-year no moveclause.
That means he can't move.
Um, and then the final fouryears, there's a 15-team no

(03:21):
trade clause.
And the now I'm I'm not evenstarted on this.
The first three years, he makeswell one million in salary, but
11 million in a signing bonus.
So I mean right at the start hegets 11 million dollars, and

(03:41):
then through the season he getspaid the one million dollars.
Then in year four, he gets 2.5million in salary and 9.5
million in a signing bonus.
Then we get to a normal contractfor years five and six, it's

(04:02):
gonna be 9.75 million, and thenyear seven and eight, it's eight
point seven million.
This is all per per Pierre LeBrun.
So maybe the reason why hiscontract wasn't signed before
the season is they needed to getthis all figured out because

(04:23):
that is pretty detailed.
So maybe we were a little beinga little harsh with Mr.
Holland.
I mean, I know I was.
Um, I mean, because he I thinkKempe is a special player.
I mean, he may not be in the theleague of uh McKinnon, McDavid,
you know, I'll and that group, but I mean I would like to see

(04:51):
if any of them is betterdefensively than he is.

SPEAKER_01 (04:56):
Yeah.

SPEAKER_03 (04:57):
So and he's so versatile.
He can he he even takesface-offs.
I think he had 10 or 11 in onegame.
Um, so I mean, he was a centerwhen he was drafted and then
moved to forward.
And I'm I'm just glad that wehave him in the uh loop for the
next uh eight years.

(05:18):
It was a great move.
It stops the idea of a retoolfor me right now.
I think I I mean you always haveretooling going on a little bit,
just trying to bring the rightpeople in every season, you
know.
So we'll see um how this playsout over our uh Adrian's uh
contract, but I'm excited aboutit.

(05:39):
What did you think about it,Cody?

SPEAKER_00 (05:41):
I just love how the total for the signing bonus and
the salary are exactly 42 and ahalf million dollars each.
Yeah, I literally so half of itis signing bonus, half of it is
salary, which I I find, but um,this is great news for the kings

(06:02):
and everything like that.
And I thought it was gonna becloser to the 12 million range,
just the way how everything elsewas going, and but uh you know
what this now means for the restof the league?
We're about to have the worstever free agency class this next
year.
Possibly can't believe Kempecould have easily probably made

(06:23):
13-14 million dollars on theopen market, you know.

SPEAKER_03 (06:30):
Um you know how uh people say, Um, I don't know if
you even know this, it'sprobably gotten a little lost,
but back in my day, like withthe Dodgers, um, they had to
bleed Dodger Blue.
That was a big term that wassaid about him.
You know, hey, you know, RonSay, he bled Dodger Blue.

(06:58):
Whole bunch of guys bled DodgerBlue.
Well, Adrian Kempe, I don't knowif you're bleeding bleeding
black and silver, but you arefor the next eight years, I
hope.
And and with that 15 team, um,no trade clause.
I I don't see him moving unlesshe wants to move.

(07:18):
I mean, he can he can wave thatif he wants to.
So just excited about that.
And we'll just move on to thenext part of the Kings news.
Uh, is uh I don't know if yousaw it, uh, but Dowdy got hit
hit, it looked like foot orankle, and he's been placed on
injured reserve and will be outat least two or three weeks.

(07:40):
And that that's a big hurt forthe Kings.
From I mean, the only from whatI heard, it was a toe.
Was it a toe?
Oh, so well, so you ever hurtyour toe?

SPEAKER_00 (07:53):
I mean, try to walk when you your toe is without
your toe, you you fall havingBigfoot's feet and stubbing your
toe on every furniture you'veever hit as a like me.
I've stubbed my toe, I don'tknow how many times, but no, um,
on all the kings men, there Iforgot who he was talking to.

(08:14):
Um, but they were saying DennisBurstein said that it was a toe
issue, and I know DennisBurstein is a big King's
insider.

SPEAKER_03 (08:23):
Yeah, he's on uh um Mayor's Manor, right?
No, Kings of the Podcast.
Kings of the Podcast.

SPEAKER_00 (08:29):
I get them all mixed.

SPEAKER_03 (08:31):
Mayor's Manor is John Hovind.
Right.
John Hovind is basically theirco-hosts.
Uh, I think John is the lead, and Dennis is like the analyst
and color guy, and throws in histwo cents guy, sort of like a a
broadcast on their a broadcaston their podcast.

SPEAKER_00 (08:50):
A cast cast.
Um, but yeah, that's what Iheard.
I heard it was and I heard fromanother pod on another like and
just an NHL podcast that it waslike a more of a toe than a
foot.
Well, toes part of the foot, soyeah, but they're saying that
toes heal better or I don'tknow.

SPEAKER_03 (09:12):
Well, you know, being someone, you know, as I've
gotten older, and if I hope noneof you ever get gout, but it
typically starts in your toes.

SPEAKER_02 (09:24):
Yeah.

SPEAKER_03 (09:24):
Uh and then as I gotten older, it moves to my
it's been in my knee, it's beenin my ankle.
I have to watch how I eat.
You're not to drink a lot ofalcohol either.
So it takes away some of yourfun.
Yeah, because you're such analcoholic, dad.
Well, I'm not a big drinker,anyways, but you know, I don't
mind a few beers, but now it'stypically if I have a beer, it's

(09:46):
one, which is probably better, anyways, for me.
But um, but it it'sdebilitating.
I mean, I I first got it when wewere umpiring.
I it I don't it hurt so bad.
I had a hard time running, but II persevered through it.
I just can't imagine it gettinghit with a puck at what 80, 90,
100, maybe even 100 miles anhour.

(10:08):
So that's gotta hurt.

SPEAKER_00 (10:09):
Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_03 (10:10):
But but the good part of this people is Brant
Clark is getting time now.
So, and I think he's playedpretty well.
So, anyways, did we want to goto Duck News, Cody?

SPEAKER_00 (10:26):
Yeah, let's go to Duck News.
Um uh duck's goaltender CallieKlang has been granted a leave
of absence from the goals due topersonal issues, and Thomas
Sukinik has been recalled totake his place because I know
Vili Hussa was down there.
I think Callie Klang was thebackup, and then Sukinik was uh

(10:48):
with the ECHL uh test TulsaOilers.
Um they didn't say specify whatthe the news is why he left, but
I I hope everything's okay, andI hope whatever happens, you
know, will be better for him andeverything.

SPEAKER_03 (11:06):
So yeah, that that's Thomas' own goal, sugar neck,
right?

SPEAKER_00 (11:09):
Really, we're gonna bring that up again.

SPEAKER_03 (11:12):
You know, it it just was funny.
I mean, just how it happened.
I know it's embarrassing.
I mean, it had to beembarrassing for him, and you
know what?
I I thought he played a greatgame, yeah.
You know, in that rookieface-off against the uh the
Kings.
Yeah, I mean the own goal, Imean, they still lost by two, I

(11:34):
think, or was it three?

SPEAKER_00 (11:35):
Three, it was it was four-one, right?
Yeah, um, but and one was anempty netter, if I remember
right, wasn't it?

SPEAKER_03 (11:45):
That I can't remember, but you could be
right.
I can't remember, but yeah.
I all I remember is the ducksoutshot the kings totally.
Oh god, yes.
Um on another goal.
I mean, um Carter George stoodon he he did such a uh great job

(12:06):
in the net.
He was he had to be number onestar.

SPEAKER_00 (12:10):
And here we go.
More king stuff during the ducksnews.
All right, move on.
Let's talk about cutter and leo,Cody.
So cutter and leo, uh, yeah, just pull my move where I start
talking about something elsewhen something awkward happens.
Um, so cutter and leo are thethird set of teammates in NHL

(12:32):
history to each record 10 plusgoals and 23 plus points through
the first 20 games of a season.
Uh Gretzky and Messier did it in81 and 82, and Bossi and Trotier
did it in 77-78.

SPEAKER_03 (12:49):
That's some really yeah, great people to be in
joint with with that that kindof record, man.
I mean, I I mean Mike Bossey wasprobably one of the best goal
core scorers I could I can everremember.

SPEAKER_00 (13:04):
Yeah, I mean, he was Bosse was that was New York,
right?
Or am I thinking of Montreal?
Or it's either New York orMontreal.
It uh the Islanders, Islanders.
Yeah, that's what I meant.
Okay, that's what I knew itwasn't the Rangers, I knew it
was the Islanders.
I just can't remember.

SPEAKER_03 (13:22):
I do believe they won like four straight Stanley
Cups, or at least four StanleyCups in a short period of time
with that team.

SPEAKER_00 (13:29):
I think it was four straight, they're the last ones
that ever do it four straight,or even three straight, I
believe.

SPEAKER_03 (13:36):
I can't remember, but you can't go wrong with
Gritsky and Messier either.
That's I mean, you're you'retalking that's Hall of Famers.
So is this is this a prelude towhat Cutter and Leo are gonna
do?
Who knows?
Let's hope so.
Let's hope so.
We need this.
Well, it just may happen, yeah.

SPEAKER_00 (13:57):
Um, next yep, next bit of news is Chris Kreider on
Thursday, sorry, uh played inhis 900th career game against
the Ottawa Senators.
His career total so far, he has336 goals, 260 assists for 596
points, and a plus 121 rating.

(14:21):
That's pretty good if you have aplus 100 and uh 121 rating.

SPEAKER_03 (14:28):
No doubt Kreiders had a great career, yes, and it
will he was a great pickup bythe oh god, yes.

SPEAKER_00 (14:35):
And we'll we'll get to one of his uh great plays a
little bit later.
Um, so now we got some veryinteresting news.
I but the next two are the same, just from different people.
Um, Chris Johnson on PavelMinchikov.
He's been scratched a couplegames, he's not happy about
that.
We're not at the stage whereit's a full-blown he's being

(14:59):
traded, but something to keep aneye on.
So that's what he said aboutMinty.
And then here's also what ElliotFriedman from 32 Thoughts said.
Elliot says the word is thatPavel Minchikov would would like
to be traded if he's not goingto play after being healthy
scratched for a few games.
So if you most of you don't uhlistening, um, yes, Minti has

(15:22):
been scratched, I believe, thelast three games.
Um, because Ian Moore has playedgreat since he's been up since
pretty much when Racco Goose gothurt, they called up Ian Moore,
and Ian Moore has lookedfantastic.
Um, so yeah, I know we had Ianon the left side.

(15:43):
We had um Jackson Comb.
You know, he just signed aneight-year deal, the highest
contract in ducks history.
For now, and then for now, fornow.
Um, and then you also gotZellweg, who's also been playing
fantastic for the Ducks, andthen uh and Minti was the the

(16:07):
third line left uh defenseman, but now they've had Ian Moore
playing there since Gudis isback, and on the right side you
have Hellison playing withLacomb because they're best
friends and they have goodchemistry together, and then
Truba and Zeliger is probablyone of the best defensive pairs
we've seen on a long time forthe ducks.
They just work play so welltogether, and then you have uh

(16:29):
goodest playing with more on thethird line, and they're both
right-handed shots, too.
So Ian Moore was has beenplaying on his um opposite hand
pretty much the last threegames, but I guess he's used to
playing on his opposite handbecause I guess his last year at
Harvard, they had a lot ofrighties, and he was the one

(16:51):
that had to play on the leftside, so he was already kind of
used to it.
So, but yeah, um, I love the wayMinty plays and everything like
that, but he hasn't looked likeoverly impressive this season so
far, and I'm a little worriedabout that.
I like there's something off.
I think we should just, in myhonest opinion, let him go down

(17:14):
to AHL, play there, figure outwhat he needs to do, probably
get that confidence back, andthen you know, I'm pretty sure
you know something will happen, and he can come back up and
prove everyone wrong that, like, hey, I'm here, I I need to be
playing every night, you know, like kind of like what Drew

(17:34):
Hellison did.

SPEAKER_03 (17:35):
So, do you do you think dropping him down to the
goals is gonna make him feel anybetter than he does right now?
I mean, I'm just throwing it.
I understand why you said that, and I don't disagree with what
you said.
What I'm saying is he's alreadyunhappy now.

(17:57):
He's not only been scratched,he's been demoted, and that
might be the key thing thatwould tell him he goes, Hey,
just trade me.

SPEAKER_00 (18:07):
Well, yes, but I mean, you're not gonna build any
value just sitting in the pressbox.
You could start building valueif you go to the HL and start
dominating there.
So, like I I and I get exactlywhat you mean, and um, yes, that

(18:31):
could probably mess with hisconfidence even more just
sending him back down.
But I I think that's I in myhonest, I think that's probably
what's best for him is to sendhim down and see what he does
down there.
I mean, we are talking aboutsomeone he's what 20 21 years
old, 22 years old, and mostdefensemen they don't really

(18:54):
start getting into their primeuntil about what 23, 24, 25
years old.
So we we can see what happenswith that, and uh there's like
nothing like he hasn't beenasked to be treated or or
anything like that, so it's morelike a wait and see thing right

(19:17):
now.
So um, but uh honestly, I loveMinty.
I I hope he stays, I hope hegets another chance and proves
everyone wrong.
I think he's he's juststruggled, and you know, and I
and I hope he builds theconfidence and proves like he
had a great first season.
If he could play like he did hisfirst season, then he's easily

(19:38):
staying in this lineup everygame.
So yeah, that's it.

SPEAKER_03 (19:44):
I guess time will tell.
Time will tell.

SPEAKER_00 (19:46):
Yes, uh, and that'll be it for docs news.
So we want to move right intoleague news.

SPEAKER_03 (19:52):
Yes, we can.
So Canucks have signedunrestricted free agent forward
David Kemp to a one-year$1.1million dollar contract,
beginning immediately.
Recently had his contractterminated by the Toronto Maple

(20:13):
Leafs.

SPEAKER_00 (20:16):
Yep.
Um, yeah, I know he he got sentto the uh minor leagues, and uh
I know he didn't want to playdown there, so they just last
week him and uh whatchamacallitthey terminated the contract and
stuff like that, and he he justhe wants to play, and so he
signed with the Canucks.

(20:37):
And I know they desperately needcenters, uh, since they had uh
Keatle get hurt and everything,so yeah.
So he uh gets another chance toplay somewhere else, and I hope
he does well there.

SPEAKER_03 (20:53):
Yeah, sometimes uh changes scenery is what someone
needs.

SPEAKER_00 (20:57):
Yeah.
Uh the next bit of news is theDallas Stars have announced
Thomas Harley is out week toweek with a lower body injury.
That's gonna blow a little bit.

SPEAKER_03 (21:08):
That's that's good.
That's hurt.
He's he's a good youngdefenseman, very good young
defenseman.

SPEAKER_00 (21:14):
Yes, he is.

SPEAKER_03 (21:15):
So they're gonna miss him.

SPEAKER_00 (21:17):
Yes.
Um, and then the the Canadians.
Oh, sorry, that's your turn,right?

SPEAKER_03 (21:24):
Well, yeah, yeah, you you're just taking over.
You want me to leave?
Yeah, all right, bye.
The Canadians have announcedKirby Doc will miss four to six
weeks with a fractured foot.
Oh, it's not a lower bodyinjury, yeah.

SPEAKER_00 (21:40):
Um that that's what the third major injury that the
Canadians have had.
I think they had what new hook.
Oh god, who was the other onethat got hurt last week, too?
We talked about.
I don't remember.
We didn't look.
Uh so I'm going back to thenotes.
Oh, uh Caden Gooley, thedefenseman.

(22:03):
So another big injury.
Hopefully, the injury bugdoesn't keep striking over there
in Montreal.
Yeah.
So all right, and then uh thenext big news is the oil uh
Edmonton Oilers, Ryan NugentNugent Hopkins is expected to be
out till at least December.

(22:24):
There is no there was no news ofwhy.
It's not upper body, lower body, full body, no body injury.
I don't know.
There was no specifications.

SPEAKER_03 (22:38):
You know, as up and down as our the kings have been,
the oilers are playing worsethan the kings are.
Yeah.
And that doesn't help.
Not at all.
That really hurts them.
Yeah.
Because, you know, just a coupleof years ago, didn't he score

(23:02):
over a hundred points?
Yes, he did.
Yeah, so well, we'll move on.
The senators have signed ShanePinto to a four-year extension
worth 7.5 million AAV.
And he he started off withgangbusters.

(23:23):
I actually I think I have him onmy fantasy team.
I think he slowed down a littlebit.
Yeah.
Because he was uh he was scoringa lot of points at the start of
the season, at leastfantasy-wise.
So that's a good signing for thesenators.

SPEAKER_00 (23:42):
Yes, it is.
Uh I know he he was scoring, Ithink he had like seven or eight
goals pretty quickly.
So yeah.
And then uh another anotherweird injury.
Um, Panthers forward I2Listerinen is out week to week

(24:04):
after suffering burns during abarbecue uh accident, and that
was per head coach Paul Maurice.
Apparently, he was trying to, Iguess, light his barbecue, and I
guess something happened withmaybe the propane tank.
It's funny because I work inpropane.
Um, and I guess it justsomething happened, and it's

(24:25):
it's like a lower on the lowerpart of the body.
And and I I'm guessing he couldprobably play, but I'm guessing
with all the burns and all theequipment rubbing against those
burns is probably not good.
So I would say wait that out.
I've I've had third-degree burnsbefore, yeah, not fun.

SPEAKER_03 (24:47):
No, it's it wasn't fun, yeah.
So and it certainly didn't hurthim last night, uh, Bruins.
So yeah.
Let's talk about the WinnipegJets.
They have signed pending uhpending unrestricted.
Did I?

SPEAKER_00 (25:07):
Yep.

SPEAKER_03 (25:10):
Oh, Charlie McAvoy.
That's the one I was saying.
Yeah, he's he on he went underuh under has under undergone
surgery after being hit in theface with a puck on Saturday.
There is no timetable for hisreturn.

SPEAKER_00 (25:28):
I didn't see the full replay.
I saw like one, I don't want tosee it.
Well, apparently you see teethflying in the replay.
I have no doubt.
So yeah.

SPEAKER_03 (25:42):
I I would be fully supportive of full face helmets
for hockey.

SPEAKER_00 (25:53):
Yeah.
No, 100%.
Um, and then next up, theWinnipeg Jets have signed
pending UFA forward Adam Lowryto a five-year five million
dollars, uh$5 million AAVcontract extension.
So they get to keep theircaptain for another five years
at a really good cap hit.

(26:14):
There you go.
So I think great, great move forWinnipeg and just another uh
person because they say Winnipegis they say once you you nobody
wants to go to Winnipeg, butonce you get there, you want to
stay there.
Well, they've got some reallygood players there, that's for
sure.

SPEAKER_03 (26:35):
And uh IIHF has announced that all hockey
players participating in the2026 Winter Olympics will be
required to wear neck guardswhile on the ice.
And I can't believe when you'reon the bottom of your feet, you
got razor blades that thatwasn't already a requirement.

(27:00):
I mean, you know, when you thinkabout hockey and what they do
and how they do it, it is soincredibly difficult.
Yet we're very criticalsometimes of these guys.
Um but to be on basically on thebottom of your feet, razor

(27:24):
blades on ice, getting hit andbeat on, knocked into the
boards, you know, and people'speople fly around getting
knocked down, those skates comeup.
Yeah, I would be totally if Iwas playing ice hockey, wanting
to make sure I don't get cut bythose skates.

(27:46):
Yeah, I don't I don't care whereit is.
I bubble wrap me till I can'tsee, and I don't want to get
cut.
So, anyways, yeah, that's Ithink that's a good good rule.

SPEAKER_00 (27:59):
We have a couple hellos.
I I think just a typo, butBryson says hello on YouTube,
and then uh Timo Rodriguez alsosays hi.

SPEAKER_03 (28:09):
Hey guys, welcome to Billy Quack.

SPEAKER_00 (28:13):
I'm gonna we're gonna skip the next two because
I want to get into those alittle bit further.
Um, but Connor Hollibuck willundergo a minor art arthroscopic
knee procedure, and it's isexpected to be out four to six
weeks per Darren Dreger.
And that's a big blow.

SPEAKER_03 (28:33):
Big big loss for big blow for Winnipeg, yes.

SPEAKER_00 (28:37):
I mean, Eric Homery's not a bad goalie, but
he's uh but he's gonna but he'sa fantastic backup.

SPEAKER_03 (28:46):
He's he's gonna see what it's like to be number one
for four to six weeks.

SPEAKER_00 (28:52):
Yes.
Like he he's always had goodnumbers when he's been in with
Winnipeg.
It's just like we're gonna seewhat it's like to be there every
game, not you know, every 10games a year.
Yeah.

SPEAKER_03 (29:06):
And then you want to go the yeah, Winnipeg Jets have
given 2022 first round pick BradLambert permission to find a
trade partner.

SPEAKER_00 (29:17):
Yeah, I I know uh when they drafted him because I
remember he he uh he was a bigum prospect before he got uh
drafted, and I I guess he justhad a really bad draft year, and
it really dropped him down inthe first uh first round.

(29:40):
His dad is Lane Lambert, by theway, if you didn't know that.
Um, so it's just interesting tosee how this will work out.
I I've heard that one of thepossible destinations was the
ducks for Brad Lambert.
Really?
I don't know.
I don't know, I can't rememberwhere I saw it.

(30:02):
I don't know if it's true ornot.
It wasn't like a Elliot Freeman, you know, kind of someone I
trust, you know, kind of thing.
So we'll we'll see how thatworks out.

SPEAKER_03 (30:16):
So maybe Minty for Lambert.

SPEAKER_00 (30:20):
I think we're gonna need a little bit more for Minty
than just lame uh Brad Lambert.

SPEAKER_03 (30:25):
Oh well, we'll see what happens.

SPEAKER_00 (30:27):
You never know.
So um, the next big news is theones that we skipped.
Um, are the devils cursedbecause their arena was built
over a cemetery?
And it wasn't just a regularcemetery, it used to be a church

(30:47):
cemetery.
And your team is called theDevils.
How is that not the most ironicthing possible?
I don't know.
Maybe it's because uh Hughes isout.

SPEAKER_03 (31:03):
That's what really has nothing to do with uh being
over a cemetery.
I mean, typically if you dobuilding over any cemetery, they
move everybody.

SPEAKER_00 (31:14):
Apparently they didn't move everyone, I guess,
or not.
I don't know.
But I mean, maybe they theyforgot one person, it happened
to be the wrong person.
So there's just a ghost at the Ithink they play at the
prudential center, and he's justcausing chaos and follows Jack
Hughes everywhere he goes.
Yeah, wouldn't it be funny thatthe devils play on that?

SPEAKER_03 (31:36):
And then like Jack Hughes is like he's recovering
and he gets visited by threespirits.

SPEAKER_00 (31:48):
Yeah, they they could play on they could play on
that if they wanted to.
They could, but uh oh, so therewas also speaking of uh devils
and angels talk, so there's uhuh a juniors team, they're
called the Saints, and theirmascot is an angel, and this

(32:08):
angel's uh a 14-year-old kid,and I guess the kid had an idea
for when there's uh when theother team takes a penalty that
he'll during like a TV timeout,he'll skate on the ice and stand
in front of the penalty box andstare at them in judgment in the

(32:29):
full like angel costume.
A 14-year-old kid came up withthis, and I thought it was the
most hilarious thing, andeveryone's talking about it.
Like Jeff, I know Jeff Merricktalked about it.
I believe the guys from EmptyNetters talked about it.
Oh my god, I was like, wow, thatis so clever and so funny.

(32:49):
It is I'd I'd like to see that, yeah.
Um, and then the last bit ofleague news is last week we had
the Red Wings play the Rangers, and I used I think you said you
were watching this game, right?
Yeah, and how great did it lookto see the Red Wings in their

(33:12):
red and then the Rangers intheir blue play on the ice?
It probably looked fantastic.
It did.
I only saw the fighting part, and I could tell you it still
looked even though they'refighting, it still looked great.
And I guess the NHL came out andsaid and told the teams, hey,
try to do more of these color-oncolor kind of games.

(33:35):
And when I heard that, I'm like,huh.
I feel like I've heard thisbefore.
I feel like I I said this like amonth or so ago, I believe,
didn't I not?

SPEAKER_03 (33:49):
That I think all the are you are you patting yourself
on the back right now?

SPEAKER_00 (33:54):
Oh no, I'm trying to give myself a huge promotion and
a huge raise right now, okay?
Leave me alone.
But I I I know I think I onlysaid it should be the California
teams, but hey, that was thestart of something.
I mean, tell me how great wouldit look if you saw the ducks and
kings playing against each otherand it was in their uh home and

(34:16):
blacks, like the the or I'msorry, the the orange and
blacks, and then when the kingsplay against the sharks, you got
the teal and black, and thenducks and sharks, you got the
orange and teal.
Tell me not how great that wouldlook.
And I know you can't do it forall the teams, like you know,
the ducks play the flyers, youcan't have orange on orange like

(34:36):
that.

SPEAKER_03 (34:38):
But I mean, I would think Friday, coming Friday, we
should have uh orange and black.

SPEAKER_00 (34:46):
I I think isn't orange the new black?
Oh Jesus.
Um, so here's what I wasthinking: every Halloween and
Black Friday, the ducks andkings have to play against each
other.
There you go.
Because you got the orange andblack for Halloween, and you got

(35:08):
the Black Friday.
Let's do it.
If you heard it here first onRoyally Quack.
Dear NHL, yes, I would take thejob.
Thank you.
But I just think, I mean, tellme how not great it would look

(35:28):
to see like the sabres playingagainst the kings, you know, or
like, but even like the redwings versus black and blue,
black and blue.
I mean, but I mean, you can alsodo what the flames versus the uh
like the Toronto Maple Leafs.

(35:48):
Yeah, if you think about now theWinnipeg Jets can play their uh
white jerseys at home becausethey have the white out during
the playoffs.
Tell me how not great that wouldlook.
I'm just saying.
Because I never understood thatabout the Winnipeg Jets is how
they have the whiteout, butyeah, they wear all dark blue.

(36:10):
So, like I said, yeah, I I I Iknow I've said it on here.
I think I even made a reel aboutit.
So I have proof that we said it.
I said it first.
So yes, NHL, hire me.

SPEAKER_03 (36:25):
I will say it for you, Cody.
I have spoken.

SPEAKER_00 (36:30):
I have spoken.
All right, ready to get intogame recaps?
Yes, sir.
You do you want to start or doyou want me to start?
I don't care.
All right, you I'll let you gofirst.

SPEAKER_03 (36:44):
Okay, let's talk about game one last Saturday.
Let me just pop that open.
Let's go to the scoring.
There was so much scoring inthis game.
It was scary.
Kings in the first period, AlexLaFerriere gets his fifth, from

(37:08):
Anderson is fourth, and Byfieldis 13th, and it's one-nothing
Kings.
And that's the end of thescoring.
It was a one-nothing game.
Let's go over the stats realquick.
Um Kings got waxed on theface-off 56 to 44.

(37:36):
Um, Ottawa's Ottawa was 0 for 2on the power play.
The Kings were 0 for 1.
I mean, nice thing is the Kingsaren't taking as many penalties,
at least they've gotten betterat it.
Hits, they got out hit by Ottawa22-16.
But nice thing I saw in thisgame was blocked shots.
Our block, we had 20 block shotsto only 13 for Ottawa.

(38:01):
But we still win in thegiveaway, which I think is
something we need to fix.
Uh, we gave away 18, they onlygave away 14.
Um, and takeaways Ottawa 2.
I mean Ottawa 4, Kings 2.
Um, let's go to the three starsof the game.

(38:27):
Uh Claude Rue was the third starwith no points.
Alex LaFerrier was the secondstar with a goal, and the first
star was the shutout forForzberg for the Kings.
So the Kings won nothing.
Start off uh the week.

(38:49):
That's uh that was our greatstart.
So you're you're go to yourfirst game, Cody.

SPEAKER_00 (38:55):
So we have the complete opposite of you guys on
this one.
Um, the ducks got shut out forthe first time this year.
Um, let's see.
So the ducks lose this one 2-0to the Minnesota Wild.
All I can tell you is Morazicplayed this game and he was
fantastic in this game.

(39:16):
So uh he only let in one goal.
Um, so here's the scoringbecause it's gonna be short and
sweet.
Uh Marcus Johansson scored hisseventh of the year to make it
one-nothing, and that was on inthe second period, um uh just 55
seconds in um on a backhandedgoal.
And then in the third period,Matt Boldy scored his 10th goal

(39:39):
of the year on an empty netter.
So, as you can see right therein the on the slide.
Um the shots all right.
Let's go into the stats.
Um, shots on goal 30 to 28 infavor of Minnesota, face-off
percentage uh 59 or 57.9 infavor of Minnesota to the 42.1

(40:05):
percent for the ducks.
The ducks really got to fix getbetter at face-offs.
Uh, power play, um, oh for sevenwas Minnesota, and the ducks
were oh for two.
So I believe we took two doubleminor penalties in this game for
high sticking, two doubleminers, that's four minutes.

(40:31):
Mason McTavish had six minutesalone of penalties because he
took a double minor and thenanother penalty, and it was all
within I want to say 10 minutesof the I I want to say first
period or second period, I can'tremember, but it was not pretty
at all.
You know, we were but I I mean Ifeel like the the refs weren't

(40:56):
calling everything.
I feel like they could havecalled a little bit more against
the wild, but the ducks justcould not get anything going
offensively this game, um, oranything like that.
Hits we did out hit them 20 to18.
Uh block shots 13 to 7.
Um, and that was the first gameagainst the Minnesota Wild.
So the Ducks are down oh uh 1-0to Minnesota in the season

(41:19):
series.
Um, let's go to oh, and then thesaves, like I said, Preda
Morazic was absolutely fantasticin this game.
He stopped 28 shots out of 29.
Um, and just for Walt Stat wasfantastic in this game.
He, you know, he just made theone save more.
He really was the a wall uh backthere.

(41:43):
Wallstatt, yeah.
So he stopped all 28 shots.
Like I said, he he was great.
Um, the three stars of the gamewas Marcus Johansson, had the
one goal, he was the numberthree star.
Joel Erickson Eck was the secondstar with one assist, and Jesper
Wallstadt was the number onewith zero goals against and a

(42:04):
perfect save percentage.
So that would be the first uhgame of the week for the ducks.
All right, on to on to yourgame.

SPEAKER_03 (42:16):
Then on uh Monday, we were in Washington playing
Mr.
Goal Scorer himself, Ovechkin.
He did hit 900, by the way.

SPEAKER_00 (42:29):
We talked about it last week, yeah.

SPEAKER_03 (42:31):
So let's go to the scoring to start off the game.
X-King Matt Roy gets his first.
He gets his first goal of thewhole year against, of course,
his former teammates.
It's usually how it works.
Protus got this uh assist hissixth, Wilson uh his ninth at
the 341 mark on a tip in, andit's one-nothing capitals.

(42:56):
That that's how the first periodended.
In the second period, the goalscorer himself, Alex Ovechkin,
gets a sixth from McMichael, hisfifth, and Chickering his tenth
on a snapshot to put Washingtonup two to nothing.

(43:18):
Then in the second period, theFing the Kings finally get on
the board on Zay Kopitar on thepower play, gets his third from
Perry his fifth, and Fiala hissixth on a tip-in, and it's two
to one.
And that's basically where thegame ended.

(43:39):
No scoring in the third period.
The uh capitals hang on um towin the game.
Uh, shots on goal, Kings had 31.
Um, capitals 25 on theface-offs, kings 53.2 percent.
The uh capitals 46.8 on thepower play.

(44:02):
The kings were one for three,33.3 percent, and the capitals
were oh for one.
Um hits Kings out hit them,18.17 block shots, capitals 21,
kings 16, giveaways even at 12,takeaways even at four.

(44:23):
Let's go to the three stars ofthe game, and they're all
capitals.
Matt Roy.
Well, yeah, if if you haven'tnoticed, even if you beat them,
there's usually somebody fromthe uh home team in the three
stars.
I don't always agree with it,but then you know what?

(44:45):
This was a very low-scoringgame.
You know, Matt Roy with a goalwas a third star, Ovechkin was a
second star with a goal, and ofcourse, uh Lindgren, the goalie,
only gave up one with a 968 savepercentage for the game, was the
number one star.
Yeah, you know, every game thisweek, Kings could have won.

(45:08):
So, but they uh obviously nowthey're one and one on the on
this road trip, and we'll go toyour next game, Cody.

SPEAKER_00 (45:15):
Yep.
So the ducks can come back homeafter a horrible, horrible road
trip after losing three straightgames.
Um the ducks host the UtahMammoth for the first time they
play the mammoth this in NHLhistory.
I mean, they because last yearwas name at the hockey club.

(45:37):
Um, but in the first period atthe 1552 mark, Jackson Lacomb
got his first goal of theseason, you know, and what a
great play by Ryan Strom andCalorne to get the assist.
That was Strom's second assistand Calorne's fifth assist, and
that was one-nothing Anaheimafter one.

(45:59):
In the second period, DylanGenther scores his eighth uh
goal the year, and and I the uhthing the thing about both the
mammoth goals, actually, I'lltalk about after.
So, after two periods, it wasone one after two periods.
In the third period, Logancooley scored to make it 2-1
Utah at the 9-19 mark.

(46:21):
Uh, that was uh his ninth goalthe year.
So, as I was trying to saybefore, both of these goals were
scored almost exact same way asof each other.
They were just two guys thatwere open on the other side of
the ice, uh perfect, and theducks just were left the seam uh
for a uh a side-to-side pass, pretty much uh across the ice.

(46:46):
The guy was wide open for aone-timer and they scored.
It was literally the exact sameplay, just two different players
scoring it.
Um, the ducks just got to bebetter defensively on that.
So the ducks were down two toone.
Things weren't looking good.
I mean, they were getting goodlooks, but nothing was going in
the net.
The Malca was playing great, andthen Troy Terry, and I tell you

(47:09):
the ref, I'm telling almost thesame.
The refs were absolutelyhorrible this game, but they
were horrible on both sides onthis because I they were
literally literally lettingeverything go.
I saw guys holding, I saw guystripping, they weren't calling
anything.
It's like they had something todo after the game, and um, but

(47:35):
the ducks pulled the go uh pullthe goalie, and you know, so we
played six man, uh six on five, and with four seconds left, and
it was a great play by Seneca toget the puck to Cutter.
Cutter shoots it on goal, andVamilka couldn't cover it.
It's in the crease.

(47:55):
Krider slides it over to Terry, and Terry puts it home with four
seconds left, and that's a sixthgoal of the year.
So now we're tied 2-2 uh uh withfour seconds left.
Like I said, Crider with hisfourth assist and cutter with
his tenth assist.
So now we're tied, we go intoovertime, and I'm telling you,

(48:19):
it was all Utah pretty much formajority of that overtime.
The ducks couldn't get the puck.
When they did, they would loseit right away.
It was all Utah, but thenprobably one of the greatest
plays I've seen the Ducks havethis year.
Uh Clorne gets the puck, hestarts going up the ice, and
Zellwickers on the other side, and Beckett Seneca is trailing,

(48:42):
and Beckett Seneca's wide openas the trailer, and Calorne
passes it to uh Beckett.
But if you watch the replay, theMelka is like 10 feet out of his
crease to play the percentage, and Beckett, and I'm saying
shoot, but he makes a great passto a wide open Olin Zewegger,

(49:06):
and all Olin had to do was justpretty much it was an alley oop
kind of play in a way.
Olin's wide open, the net iswide open, and he just takes a
couple steps and slides it homefor the overtime winner.
What a great pass and play byBeckett Seneca, and the ducks
win this one three to two inovertime.

(49:27):
Uh, that was Seneca's seventhassist this year, and Calorne's
sixth assist.
So the ducks break the losingstreak to three games um and get
their another win at home tomake it, I believe, five wins in
a row at home.
So that was good news for theducks.
Um, here are the stats for thatone.

(49:47):
Let's see.
Already passed it.
Where did the stats go?
All right, here are the stats.
Um, the ducks had 26 shots ongoal, mammoth had 18.
Um, the percentage for face-offwas 51.49 in favor of Utah by
literally one face-off.
Um, both teams are 0 for 1 onthe power plate.

(50:08):
Like I said, refs didn't want tocall in any any penalties.
Um, hits 20 to 17 in favor ofAnaheim, block shots 15 to 12 in
favor of Mammoth, and that wasthe first game of the season
series.
So the ducks take a one-nothingseason series late on that.
And then where am I the threestars?

(50:28):
The three stars Jackson Lacombis the number three star with
the one goal.
Troy Terry with the the gametying goal is the number two
star, and then Olin Zellweger isthe number one with the game
winner.
Lukas Stolstall uh was a net, hehad 16 saves on 18 shots, and
Vamilka uh had 23 saves on 26shots.

(50:54):
So that and that's it for thatgame.

SPEAKER_03 (50:59):
Perfect.
You did the three stars already?
I already did the three stars.
Okay, perfect.
So ending our road trip, we'rein San Jose to play the sharks.
And if you remember the firsttime we played them, they
totally outplayed us.
I mean, I think they had 40shots, we had 14, and we beat

(51:20):
them, I think four to three orfive to four, something like
that the first time.
So now we're in San Jose, we'replaying them, and let's go to
the scoring.
Um, Adam Garet scored his fifthfrom Delandria, his sixth, and
Graf his sixth at the 233 markto put the Sharks uh ahead of

(51:41):
the Kings one to nothing.
But still in the first period,Joel Armia gets his fourth, a
short-handed goal to tie thegame unassisted uh at the 1604
mark, and it's now one to one.

(52:03):
But it seems like to me thisyear, the late in the period, we
just keep giving up stupidgoals.
And Ty Delandria got his secondfrom Graf his seventh, and
Orloff his 12th assist at the1950 mark to put San Jose up
after one period two to one.

(52:25):
So we go to the second period, and the cap on Zay Kopitar gets
his fourth, from Moore histhird, Cece is on a backhanded
shot to tie the game at the 147mark.
So now it's two to two.
Then again, late in the secondperiod, Kurusaf gets his sixth

(52:48):
from Smith his 13th, andCelebrini his 18th at the 1704
mark to put San Jose up goinginto the third period, three to
two.
We got now in the third period, and talk about we finally got a
late goal at the 1901 mark.
So only 59 seconds left.

(53:11):
Adrian Kempe gets a seventh fromFiala his seventh and Copertar
his eighth on a wrist shot, andit's 3-3.
We go to overtime, and therewere many attempts by both teams
to score, but nobody could.
So we go to a shootout, andKurussev, first shooter of the

(53:34):
shootout, scores, and it'ssharks up one to nothing.
Then Trevor Moore, uh, with avery, I thought, poor attempt,
uh, didn't score.
Celebrini, um, he didn't score.
Kempe, Smith didn't score.

(53:55):
And finally, last we went withthe slow-footed but goal scoring
Corey Perry.
And I didn't think any of thoseattempts were very high quality
for us on the shootout, and welose one nothing in the
shootout, so we lose anotherovertime game and a shootout to
the sharks.
Let's go to the three stars ofthe game.

(54:16):
You know, at least in San Jose, they they put some uh the losing
team, somebody was there in thein the three stars.
Kurus obviously, uh, with agoal, the the game winning goal
was a third star.
Kopitar was a second star with agoal and assist, and Delandria
with a goal and assist from thestars.

(54:37):
I mean from the sharks was uhthe number one star of the game.
Another game that could havebeen easily won, but was not.
So that ended the road trip, andwe're one and two so far on the
road trip.

SPEAKER_00 (54:54):
No, you you that was a six-game road trip for you
guys.

SPEAKER_03 (54:57):
No, I mean a one and two this week.
Yeah, sorry.
My bad wording on my part there.
Sorry, yep.

SPEAKER_00 (55:06):
So now we'll go into let's see, the ducks will host
the Boston Bruins.
This game was a very fun game.
Um, because honestly, I did notthink the Ducks played overly
well this game, they gotoutplayed for a majority part of
this game.

(55:27):
Um, the ducks win this onefour-three over the Boston
Bruins.
Um, let's go to the scoring isJansen Harkins gets his sixth of
the year at the 229 mark in thefirst period to make it
one-nothing Anaheim.
Uh Ross Johnson with his fourthassist um of the year, and
Nestoranko his seventh assist.

(55:48):
I I like that.
I like Nestoranko, he's playinggreat.
Um, and then we had uh RadkoGudis gets his first goal of the
season, assist from MasonMcTavish and Beckett Sunaka to
make it 2-0.
Uh Anaheim, and then MorganGeeky on the power play gets his

(56:09):
13th goal of the year, so it's2-1 Anaheim after one.
And then Ryan Strome on thepower play gets his first goal
of the year, uh, assist fromMason McTavish and Cutter
Godier.
And I tell you what a great uhplay uh this was.
Uh McTavish shot the puck reallylow, and Strome just like pretty

(56:32):
much made his uh stick like intoa ramp, and it just shot up.
It was a beautiful tip uh tipplay by Strome.
So now it's one nothing.
Uh or sorry, three-one Anaheimat the 1347 mark in the second,
and then Michael Isimont getshis fifth of the year to make it
three to Anaheim, and now we gointo the third period, and then

(56:55):
Morgan Geeky again on the powerplay uh gets his 14th of the
year, so it's 3-3 uh in thethird period, and I can tell you
the ducks and the when they'veplayed the Bruce are over four
on the penalty kill.
The Bruins have scored all fourtimes, all four times on the

(57:16):
power play.
Um, but don't worry, at the 1625mark in the third period, Ian
Moore, who I talked aboutearlier, scores his second of
the year, Leo Carlson's 16thassist, and Terry's 16th assist,
and that is the game-winninggoal for the ducks, and we win

(57:37):
four to three.
We'll go to the stats now.
Uh, let's see.
Here are the stats.
Um, the ducks were completelyout.
I didn't even change the statson this game.
I'm dumb.
Um I just realized that theducks got outshot 39 to 33, uh,
face off uh 56 to uh 44 again.

(58:02):
Power play horrible for or ourpenalty get horrible.
The Bruins were two for two, andwe were one for three on the
power play.
At least we got one power playgoal, but gotta be better on the
penalty kill against the Bruins.
Um hits uh 38 to 16 in favor ofBoston, block shots 21 to 18 in

(58:25):
favor of Boston, and the ducksactually win the season series.
We swept the Boston, we won bothgames, and then now we'll go to
the three stars.
Um, Brian Strom with the onegoal is the third star, Ian
Moore with the uh one goal isthis the game-winning goal is
the second star, and LukasDostall is the number one star.

(58:49):
He gave it three goals but had a923 save percentage this game.
He was fantastic.
He he's the reason we stayed inthis game, really.
It should have been I want tosay it should have been seven
seven goals for the Bruins, maybe more.
My honest opinion, like theducks got I want to say for

(59:09):
majority of the second pier, theducks were just like we couldn't
even touch the puck.
Like the Bruins were literallyin their own zone, doing their
own, you know, like staying inthe O zone, and they were
literally able to sub whilethey're in the offensive zone.
So, like I said, it was just nota very good game overall for the
ducks, but we we sc we squeakedone out and got the two points.

(59:31):
So uh that's our uh be it forthis game.
You want to move on to your lastone?

SPEAKER_03 (59:38):
Yeah, so we were gonna move on to last night, and
we played the Boston Bruins inthe Stapl Center, not the
crypto.com.
It was it's still still staplecenter to me, anyways.
Um, this was a battle, adefensive battle game.

(59:59):
I mean, there was no scoringtill 801 of the third period.
Who I think you just heard Codytalk about Morgan Geeky.
He gets his 15th from Steve'shis first, and Zatterov is sixth
to put Boston up one to nothing.
Then five minutes and twoseconds later, Joel Armia,

(01:00:24):
shorthanded for the second gamein a row, gets his fifth from
Moore his fourth, and Dumulanhis third, and the game is tied.
We go to overtime.
And at 226.
Seven of overtime.
Morgan Geeky gets the 16th fromPaster Nock, his 17th assist,

(01:00:48):
and Zatteroff his seventhassist.
And the Bruins beat the Kings inovertime two to one.
I do believe Morgan Geeky's tiedfor the lead and goals in the
ANHL with uh Nathan McKinnonright now, unless there's been
games played this morning, whichI think there have been.
Let's go to the stats realquick.

(01:01:11):
The Kings outshot the Bruins32-26.
They uh won the face-off 61.8percent to 38.2 percent.
The Bruins were 0 for 2 on thepower play.
The Kings were 0 for 5.
I mean, they we only gave upgave them two times on the over

(01:01:34):
uh to the power play for them,um, which has been way better
than we were earlier thisseason, but we got out hit
28-12, blocked shots 23-12.
We tied with giveaways at 13,and we had five takeaways to the
Bruins four.

(01:01:54):
Let's go to the three stars ofthe game.
Now you have to realize thisgame was played in Los Angeles,
but yet I gotta say, I dobelieve the Kings and whoever
does pick the three stars of thegames.
I think it's the media, or is itis it someone on the ANHL that

(01:02:18):
picks it?
I don't know, but it's I thinkit's the media.
Uh Swayman was a third star.
He had uh less than a goalbecause we went to overtime 0.96
goals against average and a 969save percentage and just third
star.
Joel Armia was the second starwith his second shorthanded goal

(01:02:41):
in two games, which I think hetied Trevor Moore was the last
one to do it, and then of coursethe first star of the game
scoring both goal, Morgan Geeky.
I thought that was welldeserved.
I don't disagree with the threestars of the games that were
picked, but um this week we wereone and three, and we could have

(01:03:04):
been four and oh just as easily.
They played well enough to win.
I I can't tell you uh thedefensive part of the king's
game is back, they are playingmuch better defense than they do
were doing in the early season, but you know, by being that uh
is it taken away?
Because we were scoring a lot ofgoals at times when we were

(01:03:24):
having these higher scoringgames, even though we might have
lost some of them.
Um but our defensive part of ourgame is back.
Stanley Cups are won by defense.
I you know, the Kings they're inevery game.
It they're not getting theyhaven't gotten uh dominated like

(01:03:46):
they were like they were before.
The sharks dominated them uh thefirst time they played.
The Kings were the better team, they just didn't win the game.
I thought they outplayed eventhe Bruins and didn't win the
game, and then um the Capitolgame, I thought that was a
pretty even game, and we onlylost by a goal in that game.
So to me, um the Kings areplaying well.

(01:04:12):
I'm disappointed with a one andthree week, but I still think
they're playing well.
Um, I know that uh the coach hasbeen bouncing the lines around a
little bit, you know, and onething I didn't like is you know,
if Byfield's gonna be yournumber one center next year, why

(01:04:33):
is he on the second power playand not on the first?
Um, there's just a few things.
I mean, he he even switched thelines around quite a bit.
I think uh I know Kopotar had uhmore on his line.
Uh he he bounces the linesaround a lot.
I think we need to get moreconsistency there.
We need to get uh Byfield kickstarted.

(01:04:56):
He needs to start scoring somemore goals.
I think he only has four.
He should be seven or eight bynow.
I mean, he's not had a lot ofbad luck, a lot of uh hitting
the pipes, a lot of times uh thegoalies making great saves
against him.
So those things can all changereal really quick.
So I'm not, I mean, even thoughwe went one and three this week,

(01:05:18):
I have still have hope.
I hope you guys do too.
But we got we gotta startwinning games.
I know we played tonight, uh, Ithink against Ottawa.
So and then later in the week,we have the first rivalry game.
Frankie says, How about thoseBruins?

(01:05:39):
Hey, hey guys, I don't know.
Does anybody any of you hockeyfans know who's in first place?

SPEAKER_00 (01:05:45):
The Bruins after their terrible Morgan Geeky is
on fire right now.
I think he has the most goalsscored right now.
Well, he's tied with uhMcKinnon, I think.
I mean, but still, did you haveMorgan Geeky on your most goals
leaderboard?

SPEAKER_03 (01:06:05):
No, but did you see?
I mean, let's see.
I don't know if you saw the twoshots he scored on.
No, and they were I saw the gamewinner one, the overtime winner.
It was they were both verysimilar, well placed, hard hit.
I mean, the first one I thoughtwas even uh sneaky geeky.
I love that.

(01:06:28):
I mean, he played well.
I mean, and the Bruins, I mean,obviously, he was a 2017 pick.
2017.
He's finally starting to showhis worth.
Yeah, I mean, that's eight yearsago, and he's finally uh last
year he played well too.
Don't get me wrong.
No, yeah, he last we had a goodyear.

(01:06:49):
That that just shows yousometimes the talent takes time
to come to fruition.
I mean, not everybody's a Bedardor a Celebrini, a McDavid, uh a
Matthews, a McKinnon, where theyjust come in and McKinnon did
not come in good right away.

SPEAKER_00 (01:07:09):
It took him, I want to say his fourth or fifth year,
and then that's when he startedbecoming you know, the I thought
he was a little skin.
I thought he was a littlequicker.

SPEAKER_03 (01:07:17):
I thought he was a little quicker than that.
So maybe I skipped career.

SPEAKER_00 (01:07:21):
So, anyways, and then uh a comment from Sarah
Myers saying, Hi, what's up,Sarah?

SPEAKER_03 (01:07:29):
Hi, Sarah.
Welcome to Royally Quacked.

SPEAKER_00 (01:07:31):
All right, and then we'll move on to the last game.
Uh uh for the game recaps forthe ducks versus senators.
Uh, Panthers don't look good, and I'm loving it.
Well, I mean, half their team isinjured, but I I get what you
mean.
You probably hate the Panthersmore than we do, since you guys
are they're in your division, and they took you know Marshan

(01:07:53):
away from you too.
Um but yeah, so we'll go intothe ducks versus senators.
This was the last game of theweek, uh, that we're going over.
Um, the ducks lose this onethree to two to the senators.
Uh, we'll get we'll get into thescoring now.
Nick Cousins scored his fourfourth goal of the year to make

(01:08:13):
it one nothing at the 1639 markof the first, and that was only
goal in the first period.
But the second period, BeckettSeneca scores his seventh goal
of the year, cutters 12th assistand Carlson's 17th assist.
And I can tell you this play wasall cutter goadie.
He made a fantastic move, hekind of lost the puck and then

(01:08:35):
re-guained it back, and thenslid it over to a wide open
Seneca, and he had a wide opennet.
He puts it home to make to tiethe game 1-1 at the 13-08 mark,
and then Mason McTavish finallyscores again after uh kind of
getting in trouble with thecoach a little bit and playing a

(01:08:56):
little bit of fourth line andand everything.
So, but makes that mctavish getson the board with this fourth
goal of the year.
That was Kreider's fifth assistand Terry's 17th assist.
And this play, Kreider made afantastic i cross-eye saucer
pass, and again, it was MasonMcTavish wide open, one timed it

(01:09:18):
right in.
It was a beautiful play, butthen Shane Pinto, who we talked
about earlier, scores his 10thon the power play, um, to make
uh to tie the game at uh 2-2,and that was all in the second
period.
So now we're 2-2 going into thethird, and Drake Patherson

(01:09:39):
scores at the 1802 mark.
So there was a minute and 58seconds left when he made when
he tipped in this shot, andthere's nothing, and I tell you,
nothing that Morazzak can do onthis on this goal.
Um, and again, another greatgame by Morazzak, by the way.

(01:09:59):
He really kept us in this game.
Um, so now we'll go into thestats.
There are the stats.
Um, each team had 25 shots ongoal.
Um, face-off percentage 54.1 forOttawa, 50 uh 45.9 for the

(01:10:20):
ducks.
Power plays.
We uh ducks were 0 for 2, Ottawais one for three.
Um hits were almost equal, 29 to24 in favor of Ottawa, block
shots 20 to 11 in favor ofAnaheim, and that was the first
season series uh game againstOttawa.
We played them again again onMarch 14th, and that'll be in

(01:10:43):
Ottawa.
And the three stars of the gameis Ollen Zellweger was the
number three star uh with nopoints.
Say Shane Pinto was a number twostar with one goal, one point,
and Drake Batherson was thenumber one star with the
game-winning goal.
So, like I said, not a bit.

(01:11:03):
I would say the decks played alittle bit better this game than
last game, but we just you knowwe gotta learn to put the puck
in the net, shoot a little bitmore, play, and we gotta play
better defense.
Our defense was not good.
We we keep getting hemmed in orD-zoned way too much, and then
we start taking some stupidpenalties.
So we really gotta clean thatup.

(01:11:24):
Um, but yeah, that was the lastgame of the week for uh and
everything.
So, I mean, not a bad week, butnot a good week for the ducks, I
would say.

SPEAKER_03 (01:11:33):
Well, you is you show the final ducks one three,
two, correct?

SPEAKER_00 (01:11:38):
Oh crap.
I I for I forgot to flip it.
Okay, so you're yeah, the duckslost this one three to two.
Yes.
Sorry.
I was rushing doing this, and Ishould have been paying another
attention.
Did I at least have it right onthe other?
No, I did not.
Oops.
All right, but you want to getinto game predictions?

SPEAKER_03 (01:11:59):
Yeah, just uh to go over.
Uh I'm a whopping 8 and 14.
Cody's at 10 and 11.
Obviously, um, if we tell you tobet on something, I wouldn't
listen to us.
So um, you have three games, Ihave two.

SPEAKER_00 (01:12:20):
Yes.

SPEAKER_03 (01:12:23):
So I don't play till Monday.
You why don't you do your firstgame?
Oh, you can do your games, or weget I can do mine.
I'll get it done quick.
Kings are playing Ottawa onMonday.
I'm gonna have a 3-2 victory, and then we play the Ducks,
orange and black, going at it onFriday, the day after

(01:12:45):
Thanksgiving.
I have the Kings winning 4-2.

SPEAKER_00 (01:12:51):
So all right, so the Ducks play tonight and they host
the uh Vegas Golden Knights, andI'm gonna say we win this one
four to three.
I'm like, I'm gonna I have afeeling the ducks are gonna
change things around.
We're gonna play better againstthe knights.
I know we I that's a reallyweird thing to say, but I feel
like that's what's gonna happen.

(01:13:12):
Um, so I feel like the duckswill win this one four to three,
and then the ducks don't playtill Wednesday, so they get a
huge break.
Um, and they play against the uhthe Canucks at home, and I'm
predicting a 5-2 win at homeagainst the Vancouver Canucks,
and then the Black Fridaymatinee game.

(01:13:32):
Um, we played the Los AngelesKings, and I'm predicting a 3-2
loss to the Kings.

SPEAKER_03 (01:13:40):
Ooh, yeah.

SPEAKER_00 (01:13:45):
I'm sorry, I'm shocked.
I'm trying something.

SPEAKER_03 (01:13:51):
Yeah, me too, and it's not working.

SPEAKER_00 (01:13:54):
Yeah.
So yeah, that's our predictions.
I mean, I don't see anyquestions in the chat or
anything like that.
So um, yeah.
Uh uh you have anything else toadd before we get out of here?

SPEAKER_03 (01:14:10):
Oh, yeah, both uh Cody and I and our families want
to wish all of you a very uhwonderful, safe Thanksgiving

Well, we're gonna do thattomorrow.
Well, I'm just saying we're wedo things differently in the
Spink household.
But I hope everybody else onThanksgiving has nice warm full
bellies, and uh and next podcastwe will, you know, we're hitting

(01:15:05):
that Thanksgiving mark, and youusually in hockey world, the
thing that American Thanksgivingmeans something in the NHL
world.

SPEAKER_03 (01:15:12):
Yeah, if you're in the playoffs, if you're in the
playoffs pitcher, you're yeah,if you're you're in the playoffs
on Thanksgiving Day, it's a goodchance you're gonna still be in
the playoffs when it comes tothe end of the season.
Not always does it work becausethe Oilers I think the last two
years weren't in the playoffs, and they they're the team that's

(01:15:34):
really proven that to be afallacy, and they're really
proving how bad they are rightnow, they're not playing well at
all.

SPEAKER_00 (01:15:43):
Yeah, so let's keep it up, Oilers.
Yep, so but everyone, I we hereat Rolly Clock, we wish everyone
