The Wheel O' Spite makes its world premiere. Max Webster gets the deep dive it has always deserved. And the shed is still not done.

Episode 602 starts as a catch-up and turns into something much more — a sprawling, deeply Canadian conversation that somehow connects lawn maintenance, beard oil, a cat with strong opinions, and one of the most passionate music deep dives the show has done in recent memory.

The Wheel O' Spite stinger debuts on air for the first time. A spin leads somewhere unexpected. As it always should.

Then Kim Mitchell. Max Webster. A Versus segment that most listeners won't see coming. Two legendary guest appearances by the same iconic voice — head to head. Only one can win.

Along the way there's Canadian nostalgia you didn't know you needed, a corporate cancellation saga that will make you feel seen, and a Montreal music story that stopped both of them cold.

A new patron joins the family. The Wheel has officially spun.

This episode features:

  • The world premiere of the Wheel O' Spite stinger — written and recorded by Sean and Todd
  • A Versus segment involving two legendary guest vocal appearances by a very familiar voice
  • A deep dive into one of Canada's most underappreciated rock careers
  • Angine de Poitrine and a Montreal music story nobody saw coming
  • Todd's shed update — rain, humidity, and a neighbor's suspiciously bare lawn
  • A new patron announcement

(00:03):
Welcome to the Sean.
Sean Geek.
Sean Geek.
And the fastest bet in the podcast.
Yeah, you got it, folks.
It's me again with a littleaptitude for all you out here in
white bread land.
Let's see, we're on 92 FM.
Feels like a nice clean littleband so far.
No one else is using it.

(00:24):
The price is right.
Sit down, Waldo.
I'm cutting it short.
I want to get into this.
Sit down, Waldo.

(00:45):
Holy.
Okay, so I don't know if yourealize that we released a different
episode yesterday on Monday,episode 601.
Okay.
Because last week was CanadaDay and the U.S. holiday and Sylvia
was off.
Work and just busy.

(01:06):
I.
You know what?
She's on holidays.
And I'm like, okay, I wasn'tgoing to do the old.
Well, you know, I'm gonnarecord tonight on your holidays,
so we can't hang out together.
So I made myself available allweek and that's what we did.
Sweet.
So do you know what we released?

(01:31):
I saw your post.
I can't remember.
So I re released.
So I'll tell you the story.
And also the other thing Idid, which I started doing, which
we did last episode, was whatdid we talk about last time that
we need to follow up on?
Because we always fucking forget.

(01:53):
So I also, I also did that.
So, okay, so, okay, soyesterday, which is a week ago for
everyone else, I went backinto the treasure trove of our 600
episodes and rediscovered andre listened to when we interviewed
Daryl Door from the Killer Dwarfs.

(02:16):
Yes.
Do you remember that?
Yes.
I think we should have somedwarfs playing in the background
as we do this.
Right.
What am I going to do?
Which song?
Heavy Metal Breakdown.

(02:40):
Here, I'm gonna, I'm gonnapick one here now.
I'm gonna do this one.
I done mining.
I done hard rock mining.
I done copper mining.
Gold mining.
Yeah.
I was one of the toughest inthe west.

(03:04):
Oh, yeah.
All right, so I'm going toMethod to the madness, which was.
I think it was.
They mentioned it.
You can hear me.
Okay.
Right.
Yep.
Okay.
So that was.
I think this is the album thathe was mentioning.
They had some trouble getting back.

(03:26):
Or maybe this is the albumthey had because they didn't own
their own catalog because therecord label and buffoonery.
Right.
So I.
So Tony Griggs, one of our topfans, one of our patrons on our Patreon,
he,.
He.

(03:47):
He said.
He sent me a.
A Spotify playlist and hesaid, hey, here's some, you know,
here's some 80s anthem, somehair bands.
That you don't know.
He said, how about I make amix for you?
So I said, okay.
He said, do you own any Tesla?

(04:10):
I said, well, yeah, I own alot of Tesla.
Do you own any of this?
Well, you know, I already, you know.
So he tried to make me a.
A hair metal playlist of bandsmaybe I didn't know.
Okay, so from the 80s, and youprobably knew them all.
You know what?
You would know more than anyone.
Sure.
You know what?
I knew a lot of the bandnames, but I didn't know the songs.

(04:33):
Okay, so.
Which is great.
It was.
It was a good.
It was a good discovery.
But, you know, part waythrough the list, Killer Dwarf, Killer
Dwarfs comes on.
I'm like, well, I know these.
These guys.
We had them on our show.
So I was kind of conversingwith Tony, and I'm like, you know,
we had them on the show.
And he goes, what episode was that?

(04:55):
Well, 341 and 342, I think iswhat it was.
And I said, you know what?
Screw it.
I'm going to actually takeepisode 341 and 342, mush them up
together, and then re releasethat as a.
As an episode.
Because based on the originaldownloads, most people miss those
two episodes.
Oh, it had less downloads thenour freaking banana seat episode

(05:22):
by a long mile.
Our co. Wham, bam, Covid spam episode.
Okay, that's one of our top tens.
That was way more popular.
I'm like, well, that's why.
Probably someone like bananaseats or what.
Everybody likes banana seats.
But that was also when you didthe sexy Trump tweets.
Oh, yeah.

(05:43):
So that would mean.
Come on.
I think I did one of thosewhen I.
My throat was just torched.
Yes.
Right after Keycon, I think.
I think I did that one, didn't I?
Yeah, I believe so.
Yeah, I got it somewhere.
But anyway, so.
But this episode wasn't big enough.
And to be honest, you know what?
I know Daryl is the drummerfor the Killer Dwarfs.

(06:05):
Now, if it had been Russ, thesinger from Killer Dwarfs, maybe
people would be a bit moreinterested because some reason drummers
somehow take a back seat tooffend popularity.
Right?
That sucks.
It's not fair.
I mean, come on.
You know, and.
And Daryl's a great guy.
When he came like, that wasone that was like.

(06:25):
You know, when we had BillyAlexander on, that was kind of like.
You're like, oh, my God.
This is like.
This is like the peak.
And it was a peak moment for sure.
But when we had Daryl Dwarf onto me, that was like a peak moment.
Like, I can't, like, I, I, we.
I grew up on these guys andthey're on our show.

(06:46):
Well, exactly.
It's.
It's like, wow.
Small.
It's almost like, you know, inthe post.
Small world, it would be likeyou would have bumped into them somewhere
at Tim Hortons or something.
Yeah.
Hey.
And I think it was one like,so I'm listening.
So I'm re listening to it, right?
And then I'm like, oh, my God,I am such a horrible interviewer.

(07:09):
Why.
Hey, Daryl, do you do any yoga?
Like, off, like, come on, dude.
He's like, oh, yeah, dude.
Oh, yeah.
I have to.
I'm a drummer.
Yeah.
I mean, that's what he said.
Like, it's the only reason Ican, you know, play it at.
At my age, because he's a fewyears older than us and he was just

(07:31):
basically saying, you know, like, like, like, I do yoga, like,
every day.
So it was interesting.
And it just goes to show, like, we don't follow rules.
We don't just do what we'regonna do.
Yeah, exactly.
Like, if you're on.
I don't know if I'm on analgorithm, when you call it on YouTube,
but I'll, you know, startlistening to bands and stuff.

(07:52):
And all of a sudden you startgetting these weird things, you know,
people playing acoustic or whatnot.
And then you get these oldgrannies playing.
Playing drums as they could.
Oh, yeah, that's prettyfreaking good.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It's like, wow.
But the granny's playing drums.
That sounds like a good band name.
Yeah.
Here, I'm gonna.
I gotta mute my.

(08:17):
I'm trying to mute my, My, Mydick cord because I.
Everyone's like, postingprobably on the podcast Will rock
and turn it off.
They're stream.
They're streaming tonight.
They stream every Tuesday.
Oh, okay.
Quit discord.
There we go.
Get rid of that.

(08:38):
So.
Okay, so what?
Well, let's see what our.
Sorry, I'm having a creamliqueur in my coffee.
Okay, so this late?
Well, coffee.
Yeah.
It's stupid.

(08:59):
We have to talk about yourprogress on your shed.
Okay.
Progress on my shed.
In the meantime, I'm gonnaswitch to hair bands.
The.
The hair Bands for Robertplaylist coming courtesy of Tony
Griggs.
And I'll put that in thebackground shuffle play.

(09:21):
Here we go.
Nice.
Okay, sorry, go ahead.
Okay, so we have to updateyour progress.
Update on the progress for the.
The Shit.
I have zero news on the.
Because I've been Too busycutting the grass.
Oh, my God.
Well, that would.
It said we got to follow up onthe rain, the gravel, the lumber

(09:42):
in the shed.
Well.
Well, let's talk about this rain.
Well, it's like you have tomow the lawn between rainstorms.
So that's kind of been the thing.
So when you look at theweather goes, okay, it's supposed
to be thunder.
Thunderstorms in the afternoon.
It's like, well, I'm not goingto go grab the wood.
And then I have to try andfind a place to store it.

(10:02):
Yeah.
And then everything warpsbecause of all the humidity and whatnot.
So I figured, you know what?
I'll just wait until we have, you know, some good weather.
And every weekend it's beenshitty, so I can't.
Like, was it here.
It's raining.
I think they got.
Was it droughts out in.
In.

(10:22):
In Quebec or whatever.
And.
Yeah, they're having a heat wave.
Yeah.
Just the weather's all funky everywhere.
So I don't know if it's justbecause it's the biggest beginning
of summer, it's going to tone down.
I don't want.
See, when I do my workoutside, it has to be in the spring
when it's cooler, when it's hot.
I just can't function outside.

(10:43):
It's just too hot.
Y.
It just.
It's miserable.
I'm miserable.
I can't.
You know, you don't want to doanything outside.
So that's why.
So I've been kind of waitingin between the rain, but, you know,
July is already here, so oncethe heat hits, it's gonna be like,
well, what am I gonna do now?
Wait till fall?

(11:04):
I don't really have to do that.
Not in the fall, though.
But I mean, if I have to, Ihave to.
But I'd like to.
To get some.
Yeah.
Some nicer weather.
So that's what I've been doing.
I've been mowing the lawn.
That's.
That's been kind of the thing, mowing the lawn.
It's.
And.
And my neighborhood.

(11:25):
It's weird because you lookoutside and then it's grown a little
bit.
So you look at my neighbor'syard, and he mows it.
So then now mine looks too long.
Oh, yeah.
So it's like, okay, well, I'mgonna have to go out there and eventually
go mow it.
So then I'll go mow mine, andthen it'll be shorter than his.
Yeah.
And then it just goes back and forth.

(11:46):
He's got Nice grass.
My grass is like.
Like if I left it on its own,it just has like dry spots and stuff.
And it's just dandelion weedsand crap.
And then the neighbor nextdoor, it's.
I guess it's a rental house.
And they don't mow the lawn.

(12:08):
I don't know if they threwRoundup or what in their yard, but
they mowed it one time.
They mowed it one time.
I don't know if they mowed it.
Down back in 1972.
Where, where they had it downright to the dirt because it's all
brown.
Like there's no grass growing.
Like you can tell where myyard begins.

(12:29):
So when I adjusted my mower, Ithink they say it's supposed to be
like 3 inches to have like ahealthy lawn.
I always kind of mowed itlower because I didn't want to mow
it every week.
But I stopped doing thatbecause I. I kind of like the green
lawn.
But I mean, you can't haveanything but green lawn with this,
this rain we keep getting.

(12:49):
And I had some of that stuffthat you got at Costco was like it
was a weed and feed or something.
And I kind of threw it all inthe grass before all this happened.
So it seems to be catching alittle bit.
There's some spots I got tokind of work on.
But the backyard is, is just.
I don't know.
It looks nice, the pad.
Because I've got the, the carport.

(13:10):
Inside the carport I've gotall this.
Was it limestone or whatever, that three quarter down stuff?
Oh, yeah.
Okay.
Yeah.
So that's all packed down.
I gotta grab some edgingbecause right from the edge of the
carport onto the grass, that'skind of where the.
I put the line for the, the fabric.
So I get the fabric kind oftucked in and then the rocks on top
of it.
But I want to peel that back alittle bit, put some edging and then

(13:33):
cut it back and then where therocks fall in, everything will kind
of look nice in a straight line.
So.
So that's where I'm at withthe shed, which is pretty much nowhere
at the moment.
So.
Okay, I've got.
I can add to that story.
So.

(13:55):
So we went to like, we went toLac, the Bonnie or Eldbee as we call
it.
And probably was a bad ideabecause the timing was.
I probably could have mowedthe lawn.
I just couldn't.
Like, I could.
If we hadn't gone to like thebunny, I probably could have cut

(14:15):
the grass a Little sooner, so.
But I didn't.
Oh, okay.
So the backyard grows at,like, double the rate of the front
yard or almost double the ratemine's reverse.
Okay.
Yeah.
It's all the.
Based on, like, I don't getany shade in the front.
Right.
But I get periods of shade, sosometimes my front will fry out a

(14:37):
little bit.
Okay.
Right.
So.
Sorry.
I'm actually updating the.
The board of topics at thesame time because you added a bunch
of on here.
Oh, yeah, yeah.
Okay.
128 topics on the board.
So anyway, so finally.
Okay, I'm gonna cut the grass.

(14:58):
I went and cut the frontgrass, and I'm like.
I had it set, like, the twoheight of two.
Okay.
It's probably not healthy.
Should probably be on three, but.
And it's like I had to passover everything like, four times
because it was a little bit wet.
Okay.
Super slow.
Yeah, super slow.

(15:19):
And then it kept.
You have to bang it to get allthe clippings out, because in the.
Yeah.
And it kept, like, gettingcaught in the.
In.
In the output or whatever.
Right, right.
Money.
Kate could probably tell some stories.
She.
She vacuums her lawn or whatever.
I'm not sure what that's all about.
I don't know.
She sent me a picture.
I'm like, yeah, like, leafblow in reverse.

(15:41):
Look, if you've got enoughtime to do that much yard work where
you're going to vacuum your lawn.
Come on.
Come on.
That's got to be how thatastroturf stuff.
That can't be real grass.
Get off the stage.
How can I get off the stage?
Yeah.
Oh, yes.
Nice.

(16:02):
I was thinking of.
Of putting.
Someone was saying, well, you.
What you should do is youshould put like, that Astro Turf
in the backyard.
Oh, yeah.
I don't know, man.
Because we want to do, like.
We know Mom's.
She took all the grass out.
Yeah.
Put all that stuff down, allthe rock.
And then she's got the big,big stones, the stepping stones.
The only thing with that isit's not comfortable on your feet.

(16:22):
No.
But she's got the huge deck,so you don't really need to worry
about that a whole lot.
But I don't have a deck yet,so once that happens, maybe I'll
do that, but.
But it's not a bad idea.
But this AstroTurf stuff, aslong as it drains properly and I
don't have, like, I've got.
I get Winston, I get the cat,but he doesn't, like.

(16:44):
He's the type of cat.
He'll Wait till he comes in totake it.
Like, he's not.
You know, it's not like a dogwhere you go out and take a, you
know, big turd or something, and then, you know, you don't want
any soup in the springtimewhen everything melts, especially
when it's not real grass.
So it's like.
Yeah, like, you're notfertilizing it.
All you're doing is you haveto clean it.
But I don't know how that worked.

(17:05):
Maybe I could.
Maybe I could do that.
Maybe just put that on the.
On the back lawn instead.
Sure.
So.
So when I get to.
So going back.
So when I get to my backyard.
So I had a hard time with thefront yard.
Right, Right.
So the backyard where thetrampoline is, it grows patchy, right?
Okay.
So we put a bunch of grassseed down on all the patchy, patchy

(17:30):
spots, and it's growing like crazy.
Oh.
So.
So when I went to cut thegrass because the grass was so thick
and it grown so long, like, this is an audio podcast, folks.
But I'm using my hands.
It.
Some of the grass was startingto fold in on itself because it was
so heavy.

(17:51):
Oh, okay.
So it created, like, littlepockets that had water in it.
So when I'm cutting the grass,.
All.
Of a sudden my feet are soaked.
As soon as I went over, I'mlike, what the hell?
I was like, oh, my God, it'sso much water.
So I had to try to kind oftrim the top, to kind of break the

(18:12):
top part of the grass that waskind of bending on itself, creating,
like, these pockets of grass.
So I went over it, like, four times.
I'm like, fuck this.
Backed off, move thetrampoline, right?
And then came back, like, sixhours later.
And the trampoline was castingshade on it, so it wasn't.

(18:36):
Wasn't drying out.
Oh, okay, now I got it.
So I move the trampolinebecause I can kind of mow underneath
the trampoline.
Like, I can almost get all the corners.
What kind of grass seed is this?
Apparently it's the stuff thatgrows really.
Well in shaded areas.
Yes,.
Obviously.
So anyway, so, like, I had tomow the grass just to get the top

(18:57):
layer off.
So I raised it up to, like, five or, like, because it goes up
to six, I think, my lawnmower.
So it was like the level highfive, right?
Which is what, five inches?
I guess maybe isn't how it works.
I don't know.
Anyway, so level five flattops in the 80s, if the haircuts.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, that'sexactly what it looked like.
So then I came back six hourslater when it dried out some and

(19:19):
I still had to go over it likeanother four times, but what a hassle.
Wow.
But there's been too much rain.
There's like, there's no off days.
Cuz it, you know, I have anelectronic mo.
Like electric mower.
Okay.
And like I don't want to get electrocuted.
Oh, plug in electric.
Yeah, yeah.
So I'm like, well whatever.
But anyway, it's done.

(19:41):
But then we had more rain so Iprobably should go cut it again like
tomorrow or whatever.
I did that today.
I was just out there todaymowing the lawn.
I was like, oh for God's sakes.
It looks nice when it's.
When it's mo.
Yeah, it looks great.
Apparently it smells nice too,but I.
Since I lost my sense ofsmell, I can't.
Oh, I don't have the.
You know what I was going totell you.

(20:02):
We put clover in our front yard.
Like we put clover seeds downfor the rabbits or.
No.
Well, it just thickened the.
The hell out of the grass.
Oh, clover is very thick now.
Does it?
And now it looks.
It looks really.
I need something to get rid of the.
You know, to push the weeds out.

(20:22):
They say just keep seeding, but.
Well, I. I have a.
A jug with some poison andwhen the, when the dandelions come
up or whatever, I just kill them.
Oh, okay.
Yep.
I tried spraying them withthat killax, whatever you have to

(20:43):
put in.
3 tablespoons per liter.
Yeah, that's what.
I tried that.
But my sprayer is just a cheaplittle sprayer and you have to go
like right onto them.
Like, like a backpack one.
Like where you can.
Yeah.
You know, 150 psi.
Do the whole lawn at once.
Yeah.
You know, I have to ask Christo see if get.

(21:03):
Not the vacuum, but you've gotsomething to.
To do the dandelions with inone shot.
Would you ask Kristen?
Mighty K?
Yeah.
What the hell did she say?
She wanted another nickname.
She wanted Mighty K to bespecific to the In Obscuria boys.
But what the hell?
She told us it was likesomething to do with weeders.

(21:25):
Joe Weider.
What the hell is.
Yeah, well, named after abench or something.
I don't know.
I don't know.
Mighty K. What was it?
I've already forgotten.
Do you like my trunk monkey?
We gotta save that.
Why don't we do a screenshot?
What?
Your trunk monkey?

(21:46):
Yeah.
Well, I've got The actual file.
Oh, yeah, yeah.
Hello.
Yeah, I don't think it's atrunk monkey, though.
Okay, so you put a topic on the.
Like, are we rolling fortopics today?
Let's.
Did you want to debut the.
Yeah.

(22:06):
Spinning wheel.
Yeah.
So that's where the ax came from.
He's gonna.
The monkey's gonna play.
Monkey's gonna play.
All right, you guys ready for this?
So this is the.
The world premiere.
It's not a song.
It's only a clip.
It's only clip.
It's.
You know, all these othershows, they have, like, you know,

(22:29):
they spin the wheel, like, they'll do, like, they'll do Run
around, like, by Van Halen or.
Something, or the sound of anactual real spinning.
You know, like the Game of Life.
Oh, that one.
Yeah.
And then it launches and fliesoff the board.

(22:50):
Flies across the room.
Yep.
You guys remember that?
Anyway, all right, so we hadan idea, like, okay, you know what?
Some guys are using this song.
Some people are using thatsong to intro their.
Their own wheel, which, by theway, we are the originators of a
wheel.

(23:10):
It wasn't the cavemen.
It was us.
Okay?
It was us.
We're the originators of wheels.
We created wheels.
I'm looking for my waterbecause I'm about to have a coughing
attack.
Bless me.
Anyway, on a different topic,or do you want to do that now?

(23:32):
No, go ahead.
Yeah, we'll do the different.
Just because it's one of thosethings where.
We'll be back after thesemessages after the cliffhanger.
Beard oil.
Yes.
I went and bought some.
Okay.
It's called something.

(23:52):
Every man's something.
I don't know.
Something.
So I bought this stuff and Iput it on.
Now, Winston.
Now, now, you didn't.
You got the right stuff, right?
You didn't get the scrotal oil.
No, that's okay.
All right.
Not that.
Just making sure.
That's a.
That's the plumping oil.
No, that's.
That's different.

(24:12):
This is.
Yeah, Every man Jack.
Every man's Jack or every man Jack.
No, I'm not like other guys.
I'm nervous and my socks are, too.
Yeah, that's.
That's another way of sayingwhat you just said.
Yeah.
So Winston is a big chin hugger.

(24:35):
No, he'll go up to and he'llbump your chin.
He'll put his head under your chin.
And once I put this stuff on,it was like, no, no.
He came up to me and hesniffed, and then he kind of went
away.
And I was like, So I did a bitof research.
Okay.
And this is after I bought.
I was gonna buy one bottle, and one bottle was like, something
ridiculous.

(24:55):
So I figured, well, I'll gettwo bottles.
And it was from Amazon.
So I ordered two bottles.
I got six.
I don't know how thathappened, but anyways, I. I put this
stuff on.
He didn't like it.
I did some research about catsand beard oil, and it said, oh, yeah,
well, there's a lot ofessential oils that they're, you

(25:16):
know, that'll screw up their.
Their system.
So great.
So I was like, okay, that'snot good.
So they said, you know, checkfor, you know, if he's vomiting or
if he's itchy or all thisother stuff.
So I took the list of theingredients, I put it in the system.

(25:37):
Google or whatever said that, yeah, these are toxic.
You can't have those.
Oh, my God, really?
You could put it on and maybeat the.
By the end of the day, itwouldn't be so bad.
Even the.
So I went to Walmart, webought the actual shampoo and conditioner.
So I.
So I. I brought that home, putthat on.

(25:58):
It said, once you do that, once it's dry, it's fun.
So he's been.
So I've got a whole bunch ofthis beard oil I can't use.
So I'm just using the shampooand conditioner for now, which is
a step up from what I wasusing before.
It was just that bar soapdoing my head.
I just do my beard with it.

(26:20):
So I mean, it was fine, but itwasn't soft at all.
So.
But now it's not too bad.
You know, there's one.
There's a beard oil called the Lemmy.
Oh, God.
Is he part of the.
I gotta look it up.
Was he getting royalties from that?

(26:40):
I think this is after he died.
I gotta look it up.
So what's the Lemmy?
Let's see the Lemmy Lemme Beard.
See what other podcast givesyou this.
Breaking informative.
It's a niche grooming productborn from the collaboration between
Epic Footnote, another podcastI listen to, and Lucky 13 Beard Company

(27:04):
created an homage to theiconic Motorhead frontman.
This signature oil isformulated to soften coarse facial
hair and deeply nourish theskin beneath, ensuring your beer
is well conditioned and staystrue to Lemmy's legendary, ruggedly
refined style.

(27:25):
So they had more of a chinstrap, didn't he?
I can't remember now.
It was like a big beard.
Do they carry it in Winnebago?
Oh, it's giving.
Wait, what does it smell like, though?
That's what I need to know.

(27:46):
What I have is, like, acigarettes and cigarettes.
Oh, it smells like amicrophone from the bar.
Strong notes of spice andheavy musk.
Yeah.
I could see, like, a bourbon.
Bourbon and cigarettes.
Yeah.
And lead affords hoochie.

(28:06):
Yeah.
Oh, wow.
Well, didn't Lita Ford and him.
Weren't they a thing at one point?
Oh, they could have been.
They could have been.
Was it leader for.
No.
Lee Aaron.
I. I was watching some videos.

(28:26):
I think she was playing aconcert somewhere, and I don't know
how old she is.
I'm sure she's up there, butshe's still looks pretty good.
Oh, yeah, if.
If that's a recent clip that I saw.
So you played in Transcona, like, last summer, I think.
No.
Yeah.
Okay.
Transcona party or the outsideparty or something.
The Transcona Cougars.

(28:48):
Isn't that their football team?
They could be.
Should be.
Could be.
All right, did you want to getback to the wheel?
Yep.
All right.
Okay.
Now we might actually pick atopic off the wheel because Todd
might want to rant, and it iscalled the Wheel of Spite, so.
So are you ready for this?
Okay.
All right.
Hopefully it's loud enough.

(29:10):
Spinning wheel on our show.
No one else does it.
We are so original.
Get up on Patreon so you canwrite add on all your topics onto
our wheelers.

(29:34):
Here we go,.
The world premiere.
That's Todd playing theinstruments and Sean singing and
Todd putting in effect.
So I sound halfway decent.
I just.
I just put some.
Some reverb.
A little bit of echo there.
A little bit of echo, somecompression, some eq.

(29:57):
It's gonna do the De Esser, but there's no.
You're not really having anysibling S's.
Is that if I have gas?
S's.
Okay.
Oh, I see.
Yeah.
I thought you're, like, gonnadegauss me or something.
No, that would be.

(30:19):
That's video, isn't it?
Degauss.
I don't know.
Your monitor.
You degauss your.
I thought I had a worm back inthe day.
No, no, not Deworm.
I don't know.
I don't know how this stuff works.
Yeah, when you're sayinghomage earlier, I was thinking Hamar,
Omar, which is.

(30:43):
For the lobster.
Yeah.
Okay, so you added stuff tothe topic board.
Is there anything there thatyou added that you really want to
talk about?
That you just want to skipspinning the wheel or you just want
to roll the thing?
I. I. Yeah.
I want to talk about Nissan Connect.

(31:08):
Bastards.
Every year so,.
So I call these.
Guys because every year I callthem and I say, look, it's like minus
40 degrees out.
I want to start my carremotely from work.
So when I go to the parkade,my car is warm.

(31:30):
It's too far to turn on fromwhere I am, where I work.
Okay, so that's fine.
So then what happens is in thespring, I call and I cancel it because
I don't need it.
So true to form, and I thinkwe've spoke about this very and very

(31:50):
reminiscent to when I went toAutopack to switch over my pivot
method because I had switched banks.
And I think we talked about that.
Yeah, you go in there, I justwant to change my debanking information.
Well, you know, what if it's.
If you, you know, Autopack, ifwe have this, you know, if, if we

(32:10):
bump you up to this other planthat we have that's supplementary,
you'll get more money for yourcar if you write it off.
And that was kind of the whole spiel.
Even though I said I didn'twant it, they just kept going on
and on, on.
So reminiscent to that, I callNissan Connect because I can log

(32:31):
into my Nissan account, but Ican't do anything there.
It just, you know, it justsays what I have.
So then I, I called.
So I talked to them and Isaid, look, says, I just want to.
I just want to cancel mysubscription for now.

(32:53):
And then they asked me why, of course.
So I says, well, first of all,I usually only use it in the winter
because it gets cold here.
It's like almost summertime.
I should have technicallycanceled it a couple months ago.
I just never did.
So they said, okay, I'll putyou on hold for a minute.
So they put you on hold.

(33:13):
And then they talk to whoeverthey're talking to or they go to
the bathroom or have lunch or whatever.
Then they come back and say,oh, I understand that, that you want
to cancel your thing.
Well, you know, we do have.
You know, when you have this,it's not just to auto start.
You can have your thing foryour odometer.

(33:33):
You can open, you can lock andunlock your doors.
Says, I know all this already.
I've been doing it for thelast five years.
I just want to cancel it.
Okay, hold on.
I'll be back in a minute.
So then he goes off again.
Then he comes back, says, oh,I understand that you, you may want
to cancel.
I says, look, I don't want tomay cancel the Whole reason I called

(33:55):
was to fucking cancel it.
Don't get.
I don't want to hear any more crap.
Just cancel the thing and thenthey just come back with more.
It's like, are you really sure?
Well, that's the thing.
They're trying to retain youas a customer.
Correct.
Okay.

(34:15):
And they probably.
Are they trying to retain youor trying to lose you as a customer?
Because it sounds like they'repissing you off.
Well, they are pissing me offbecause it's like, look, I'm usually
a nice guy, but you're.
You're starting to push mybuttons here.
I just called for.
If you would allow me toregister and unregister online like
every other goddamn company,we wouldn't be having this conversation.

(34:38):
But because they're moneyhungry and they want to try and sell
you something,.
And when Lisa makes no money, they're very poor.
Like this.
It's established.
The car companies make no money.
Oh, geez, that's.
That's like when we.
When I bought my truck.
Oh, we don't make any money.
Yeah.
This fucking Taj Mahal wascreated because you don't make any

(34:59):
fucking money.
Yeah.
Are you.
Are you kidding me?
You can blow smoke up someone else's.
I wasn't born, you know?
And the markup on these carsis ridiculous.
Oh, and during COVID When webought the Nissan was even worse.
It was only because her car.
Some idiot cut out the.

(35:19):
We talked about that, too.
Catalytic converter.
Catalytic converter.
Yeah,.
Sorry.
There's a new rat coming.
I had to hit something.
Yeah, they just cut out thecatalytic converter in the backyard,
and then the car was toast.
So then they had to.
To take the car away.
Had brand new winter tires.
Look, if you just gave thoseguys some meth, Todd, they would

(35:41):
have not taken your catalytic converter.
They.
They were just trying to buysome meth.
You should have been.
Look, you.
You.
You save that.
That.
That poor cat.
What about these poor meth heads?
Freezing in the wintertimelooking for meth.
You should have just got themsome meth.
It wasn't.
Well, it wasn't in the wintertime.
The car was just kind ofsitting there waiting until.
Waiting until winter time, andit was all set up.

(36:03):
We had the winter tires on and everything.
Couldn't get the winter tiresoff because they were pretty much
welded to the frigging wheels.
But anyway, I digress.
This is a good question, though.
Yeah.
So needless to say, eventuallythey said, okay, we'll.
We'll do that for you, sir.
It Says your last payment is,was this day.

(36:24):
So your, your membership will, you know, end on such and such day.
So I went, okay, thank you.
And then that was it.
Was that so hard?
Is that what you said?
Was that so hard?
No, that's.
Yeah.
I don't know who you'd have totalk to for that.
I mean, that's just amarketing thing where, you know,

(36:45):
they'll get together with theboard of directors.
Well, how can we make more money?
How can we retain more customers?
Well, we'll just keep themonline longer.
That's like, it's like goingshopping at the clothing store or
something.
And then they've goteverything all over the goddamn place
so that you have to go huntingfor deals.
Right.
So the longer you stay in thestore, the more shit you buy, right?

(37:07):
Oh yeah.
And they've got it all.
It's all psychological.
Everything you do everything.
Like if you go to the frigginrestaurant, they've got the menu.
The menu has been designed foryou to buy the most expensive thing.
Everything that's expensivehas a picture.
Those are the things they wantyou to visually see Go.
Oh yes, that looks good.

(37:30):
And the, the pricing, the wayit goes is all over the map.
Just the way they have it on there.
And then they have like littlethings with little frames and stuff
that it just basically drawsyour eyes to it, right?
Oh yeah.
Just to have more.
Because I was, I was watchingsomething today and they were talking
about Olive Garden and we'retalking about, oh, well, I went and

(37:51):
bought soup.
So he goes, he says, I broughtit home.
He, he gets a bowl and he putsthe soup in the bowl and there's
only about an inch of soup inthe goddamn bowl.
Oh yeah, yeah.
And this is.
But when you go to OliveGarden, they have the, the bowls
that are, they have the longlips, right.
The big lips.
But the inside is shallow.

(38:13):
The inside shallow.
So they don't have to give youas much soup.
You think you're getting more soup.
I've seen glasses.
Sounds like you're talkingabout Jimmy from Good Times.
If you ever go, if you'regoing to a restaurant or ordered
a drink and then you get downto the drink and you notice that
the bottom of the glass.
Oh, way, way, way thicker.

(38:34):
So there's.
But it looks like there'salcohol in there.
Like, but it's actually justlike glass.
Well, what it is is it dipsinto a hole.
Yeah.
But it's very thick around it.
So it looks like it's all theway to the bottom, but it not giving
you the full thing.
Breadsticks are like what, 10or 15 cents or something like that.
And they get the, the neverending pasta bowl.

(38:56):
Yeah.
Type of thing.
And they make you.
I mean, you eat it and thenyou ask for more.
But it's like you have toalways have to ask all the time.
And there's a lot of peoplethat don't like to ask as much.
So they get their money that way.
Oh yeah.
Type of thing.
And then because they used tohave the.
Was it, was it the breadsticks and.

(39:18):
Those breadsticks and salad orwhatever or breadsticks used to be
salad breadsticks.
No, it used to be endlesssalad prior to that.
And then they found out thatthe salad was costing them a dollar
or something per person versusthe breadsticks, which was like 57
cents or whatever it was.
So they switched from thesalad to the bread and then the pasta.

(39:41):
They showed us how they didthe pasta.
That this great big machine, they put all pasta and then they
have it in a big pan.
They cellophane it.
Put that, that today's date, they put it in the fridge and then
they serve that all day long.
It's not fresh.
It's.
I don't know, it's just moreways of, of making money.

(40:07):
They get a sound bite for everything.
The hell did you get that from?
Do you like that one?
No, don't play it again.
I actually like that one a lot.
Mama likes a cold one.
What?
Mama likes a cold one.
What?
Get down, get down.

(40:27):
Get down.
Sorry, I'm on a roll here.
To get down.
You know why I'm on a roll?
Why?
Mr. B.
Double o, z.

(40:51):
So you're having a drink?
I'm having a drink.
I, I, I, I get it around aboutstuff, but I can't do it on air.
I'm just gonna get in trouble.
Yeah,.
I am.
You know what?
That we did that episode a few weeks.
A few.
5.99 or whatever it was.
Well, someone from work.

(41:13):
Well, I ranted about work, right.
And I'm like, I'm gonna getfired if I put this out.
So I edit, I get, I got rid ofthe stuff in there.
Which to be honest, was Ibeing professional by ranting about
work?
No.
You know that there's certainthings that got to remain personal.
And I vented and I talked tosome managers and things are better

(41:35):
now.
So.
Good.
Yeah.
I have a news story.
Okay.
I want to talk to you about, but let's play this again.
Spinning wheel on Our show.
No one else does it.
We are so original.

(41:56):
Get up on Patreon Soul.
You get.
Yes, let's promote the Patreon.
You know what?
All these topics on the board.
Todd and I generate these topics.

(42:16):
But if you want to add a topicto the board, join our Patreon.
There's a tier just for that.
You can add a topic to a board.
We could talk about it.
If you put it on the board, itprobably is gonna have to get prioritized.
We're gonna have to fuckingtalk about it now.
Do you have any yet?

(42:36):
No, because everyone.
Because I'm not good atpromoting shit.
Okay.
So anyway, but I do want tosay before we get too far into my
topic that I added to the board.
Okay.
Dwayne from Mixtapes From Hell.
Now a patron.
Oh, wow.

(42:57):
Yeah, Dwayne.
Dwayne's possibly one of thefunniest guys in podcasting.
It's on one of my favoriteshows, and he's great.
And he even has his own theme song.
I don't have the.
The.
The.
The shorter version of.
But we.
He actually has his own themesong called Dwayne's Mailbag, which

(43:20):
gets played every week onMixtapes from Hell, which is the.
This season is all about Cinderella.
Cinderella.
Cinderella.
Cinderella.
Anyway.
Oh, I was thinking Spinderellafrom, like, Salt and Pepper.
Anyway, they.
I. I thought, you know, when Iwas listening that show, I thought

(43:41):
it was all about salt andpepper, but I don't know.
Apparently it's not any coroner,.
So.
Like, Pepper and Jack or.
No, what was the name of those?
Chip and Pepper.
Chip and Pepper.
Chip and Pepper.
Okay, so I've got to see.
So did you.

(44:01):
So, okay, I'm gonna play thisin the background.
Why don't you do some vampingwhile I find this?
Vampire?
Vamping?
I don't know.
It's some term I came up with.
The guy behind me is vaping or.
No vaping.
Vamping.

(44:22):
Here, I'll put this in the.
Is that a bar chord he's gotgoing there?
That's like a.
Is that a G sharp or an A flat?
What?
Your.
Your monkey?
Yeah, the monkey.
It's like he's playing the barchord of some sort.
So you're familiar with Angede Patrine?
Somewhat.
You know what?
I heard about them and I went, you know what?

(44:43):
I gotta see what the hell thisis all about.
Because it was like, okay, nowthey have a fan club that's showing
up on Facebook, and it's like, all right, okay.
I just looked.
I Looked up.
Watch the video.
They're all dressed up inpolka dots.
They get these weird hats, weird nose.
Weird.
Yeah.
And they play.
And it's just two people.
Yeah.
Now as I was playing in the background.

(45:03):
Yeah, you want to turn it up alittle bit?
Yeah, turn it up.
So part of their thing.
Did you notice the frets onhis guitar?
No, he's got extra frets.
Okay.
Like, he's doubled all his.
I think he doubled all hisfrets up.

(45:24):
Well, I'm gonna have to golook now, cuz.
Yeah, I'll turn it down a bitso you can.
So, okay, so what was this on.
A loop or is that an actual song?
That's an actual song.
Okay.
This is a Sherpa.

(45:47):
See, he did.
He just built the loop becausethey're two guys.
The guitar player will do some looping.
Oh, so now he's playing bass.
Right, Right.
I was gonna say there's onlytwo guys there.
How does that work?
Oh, yeah.
So there.
Yeah.
So he's looped the guitar.
Making music on the fly type thing.
Yeah.
So anyway, so Last year in2025, Montreal Jazz Festival, they

(46:17):
played.
Played to about 2,000 people, right.
Good showing.
Good showing.
You know, I. I don't think they.
I honestly don't think theyplayed a lot of shows, but they played
the jazz festival.
The Montreal Jazz Festival waspossibly the best jazz festival in
the world.
Some people would say.

(46:38):
Okay.
And they played outside.
Free concert.
2, 000 people last year.
How many do you think they played?
2 this year.
2000 last year.
2000 last year.
Yeah, just a year ago.
Sorry, how much?
20,000.

(47:00):
More.
Well, was doing some doubletapping there.
50,000, 200, hundred,000 in Montreal.
I could see this going well in Montreal.
Well, they're from there.

(47:21):
Oh, okay.
Well, then that makes sense.
Yeah.
It seems to be, like, very eclectic.
Very different.
Now, there's rumors to theiridentities, who they are.
There's a lot of theories, but nobody.
Do they not show them without their.
No.
Oh, nope.

(47:41):
Secret identities.
Kind of like Ghost did before them.
I think there's another.
Laura Shore perhaps is anotherone of those bands.
Or Sleep Token.
Sorry, nobody knows.
Or Buckethead.
Yeah, Buckethead.
Yeah, the unknown comic.
But, yeah, the unknown comic.

(48:03):
The original Engine de Pathwas the unknown comic.
Does anybody remember theunknown comic?
Yes, Kristen, I can hear you.
I know you know who theunknown comic is.
I'm sure Mr. Griggs knows as well.
And you know what?
I will even put out there thatDanny Pabst and Duane could probably.
Actually probably Recite someof the unknown comics shtick.

(48:28):
But anyway, so I saw my mast, actually.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Eventually, he.
He unmasked himself, I think, somewhere.
Right.
Yeah.
Anyway, so 200,000 people, thebest showing of the.
At the Montreal Jazz festival.
And at 200,000, they had toturn people away.

(48:51):
So there was more peopletrying to get in.
Wow.
But it was.
It was one of the first times.
It might be the first timethey actually had to turn people
away because they.
They couldn't.
There's too many people.
Could it better than.
Was it Gangnam Style.
Gundam Style.
Yeah.
You know what?
So they said the last timethey had a showing close to that,
which might have surpassed.

(49:11):
I don't know, was when StevieWonder performed there, like, forever
ago.
Oh, yeah.
But you know what?
These guys just keep getting bigger.
Bigger.
And the weird thing, as weirdas this is kind of like Prague, I
guess, in a way.
Prague with other shit going on.
The metal community lovesthese guys.

(49:32):
And it's not metal.
It's bizarre.
No, it's.
It's very experimental.
Yeah.
Like, did Brand X ever soundthis, like, weird or.
Max Webster?
No, no, Max Webster.
Well, Brand X.
Or was it Uzeb or there's some.

(49:55):
Those bands that are just kindof, like, different.
Yeah.
Max Webster had a lot of weird songs.
Here.
I'm gonna go.
Yeah, not instrumental like this.
No, no, no.
Like.
Okay, let's take a listen to this.
Max Webster, by the way.
Who's Max Webster?
Todd.

(50:16):
Kim Mitchell before.
Kim Mitchell.
Okay.
It's Max Webster.
Okay.
I don't know where the namecame from.
Like, no idea.
There's no.
I don't think there's a MaxMonster in the band.
Sound like Sammy Hagar used toplay with.
Who was it before he just went solo.

(50:37):
Sorry, when.
Who did.
Sorry.
Sammy Hagar.
He's just called Sammy Hager.
And he had.
With.
Who was he playing with before that?
Sammy.
Oh, sorry, he's playing with.
Yeah, that band.
Yeah, whatever.
Anyway, yeah, so that name wasthe One of the guys in the band type
of thing, but Max Webster was Montrose.

(50:58):
Montrose.
Montrose, yeah.
So Montrose was a person inthe band, but Max Webster.
There was no.
I mean, Kim Mitchell.
Max Webster's got nothing todo with each other.
Okay, I'm gonna.
No, I'm gonna put on.
Let's see if you know the song.
Okay.
This is Max Webster, dudes.
Yeah.

(51:20):
She comes across like diamondsDiamonds Easy.
In love when the lights are low.
She comes into Focus, focus, focus.
She.
Drinks more whiskey than.
I whine, I whine.

(51:42):
Then you wonder where patiolanterns came from.
Or might as well go for soda.
Here's another one.
You know this one?

(52:05):
This sounds like a song thatwould have played in the Hard Or
Hard Candy.
The Kids in the hall movie.
Okay, that's.

(52:26):
I. I only.
I only bought one of hisalbums and it was Oral Fixation,
but that's when he was giving Mitchell.
No, Kim Mitchell.
Yeah, when I went to Montrealto visit you.
Yeah, that's when I dubbed allof your Max Webster ones.
Oh, did you?
Okay, because I had High Classand board shoes album 1977.

(52:48):
And I think I had UniversalJuveniles, which had this song on
it.
Oh, wait, no, hang on.
No, no, no, no.
I don't play this one.
This is one of my favorite alltime songs.
Remember this one?

(53:11):
That's one overdriven bass.
Oh, my God.
I gotta turn this up a little bit.
This is good.

(53:32):
We might.
This is a Pass or Go segment.
Might as well.
Hid in jail for a thousandyears Found a fist in an empty field
Only quarters of mil.

(54:01):
Feel the way off.
Oh, who's that?
Oh, who's that?
Do you guys recognize that?
Hang on.
He sings the second verse.

(54:22):
Oh, yeah.
Remember this?
Yes.
Make a bed what they wouldn'thear Uncle Sat slime is only a grace

(54:49):
we had.
Hell.

(55:20):
Feel the way I feel.
Drums here.
No, it was a Neil style role, though.

(55:49):
I like the.
The guitar here.
It's kind of Star Spangled Bannerish.

(56:21):
Wait a minute.
Holy.
What are we doing?
Like we're just going tolisten to the song.
I thought we do a pass or go.
Okay.
Pass or go.
Oh, go.
Just.
Dumb question.
Yeah.
Where's the.
Where's.
The other was Bob and Doug McKenzie.
That was the other one thatGiddy Lee did with them.
Yeah.
Yeah.

(56:42):
You want to.
You know what, Bob and Doug, we.
Need to get a pass or go bothof these.
Okay.
We'll do versus too.
Okay, well, versus.
Sorry.
Okay, we'll do versus.
Yeah.
Okay.
Bob, Doug McKenzie.
Since Rush is on tour, apparently Giddy had some voice issues.
He needed to rest them.

(57:03):
I'm not sure where that kindof stands.
Oh, it kind of postponed someof the.
Some of the dates.
Some people are upset.
I can see why.
Especially if you have totravel and then you postpone to a
different day and now all of asudden you can't get the reservation
for where you're going to stay.
It's just that, really, youbook time.

(57:24):
Off, you book flights and youbook hotel.
That sucks.
Then.
What?
Yeah.
Did you get insurance on the hotel?
Did you get insurance on the flight.
Oh, you can't get your money back.
Yeah.
And the ticket sucks.
But, hey, if his voice isgoing, do you want to see Geddy Lee
using backing tracks or do youwant to see Getty Lee live?

(57:45):
You know what I do have?
I. I did that thing I sent youwith Nika when she was playing.
Yeah, yeah.
It was like an Anika cam.
Like, it was.
Yeah, yeah.
Focusing on her throughout thewhole concert.
I was listening to theconcert, and Giddy's voice is.
You can tell they're gettingolder because.

(58:07):
Yeah.
It's not like it used to be.
Alex, you know, great player, but from when I was hearing.
Just fumbling all over the place.
Sure.
I mean, the only person whowas really on the ball, like, a hundred
percent was Anika.
Like.

(58:28):
Yeah, but she's also, like, probably 20 years younger.
Well, of course.
Right.
Yeah.
But I mean, it's their song,so they should be able to.
You know.
But then again, they're.
They're getting.
You know, they're getting up there.
I mean, they still play, theystill rock out.
That's fine.
I don't care.
Like, that's.
It doesn't bother me.
I'm just.
It's just a.
No.
You know, just something to note.

(58:50):
But I.
With all the film footage thatthey took, I can't wait till they
have something together proper.
Yeah.
Like, Exit Stage left.
Yeah.
So we can actually watch thewhole concert.
Hey, do you own the Exit StageLeft video?
Can you.
Can you even buy that?

(59:11):
You know what?
Stupid me.
I know you.
I mean, I still have it.
You had it on VHS or something.
I. I had it.
I think it was on dvd, buteverything kind of went digital and
it was like, we don't evenhave a DVD player.
I mean, I've got.
I think I get, like, acomputer that's maybe eight or nine

(59:37):
years old.
It still has an actual driveon it that can play DVDs.
Anything that's new nowdoesn't have a slot for it.
Everything is either usb.
Oh, yeah.
Memory sticks or streaming or,you know, this.
So I don't know if I got ridof it or at all, because I got a
bunch of stuff downstairs Iwas trying to get rid of.

(59:59):
And I get to the point whereit's like, I got to get rid of something.
So it was like.
So I throw my tapes out.
My old tapes.
Yeah.
Not my.
Not my homemade tapes, buttapes of actual bands and stuff.
So.
Because, I mean, who's goingto go out and buy.
Well, now everything's Retro, where everyone's gone back to their
freaking records.
But not that they'll go backto Cassini that.

(01:00:20):
Cuz I can't really see that.
But.
Well, I thought, you know, wecould buy it on Blu Ray or something.
Well, that's the thing.
I don't have one.
You don't have one?
Oh, I have a blue.
I have a four Kiplare.
My, My other life, my previous life.
I had one.
If you want the VHS.

(01:00:41):
Yeah, it's on sale on Amazonfor $245.
New on VHS.
New import anglais.
Is it previously viewed?
Well, there's no video.
That's ridiculous.
What can I get?
Exit stage left live on video.

(01:01:04):
Now they're charging whatpeople wanted to get for their Disney
movies for their unopened.
Well, this is, they're notreleasing this.
Yeah, last chance to get your.
Oh, it's Cinderella.
It'll never be released again.
Yeah, and then they went, oh,oh yeah, release it but on dvd.
And then we're going to beusing it on Blu Ray.
And then it was like crazy, like Beanie Babies.

(01:01:29):
Yes.
Take off.
It's on YouTube.
Upscaled the 4K UHD.
Oh, okay.
Sweet.
Yeah.
Oh, look at those handsomeyoung dudes.
Let's get it.

(01:01:50):
Is it playing?
Oh, it's all there.
It looks good.
Can you see it?
Oh, I'm not sharing it.
My apologies.
That would help.
All right.
Unshare reshare.
I mean, I saw the, the music.

(01:02:13):
There.
Do you see that?
Exit stage left for concert.
Yes.
4K UHD.
It's been upscaled so it's notlike proper, proper thing.
My God, Alex is so, so rangy.

(01:02:33):
So skinny.
Yeah, that's, that's a prettygood version.
Yeah, because I had, we hadthe vhs.
Yeah.
Or sorry.
We recorded it when it was on,.
I believe.
Oh, they're so young here, man.

(01:03:02):
But this isn't the full.
Isn't the cassette like 90minutes long?
How long is this?
It's 59 minutes.
I think the actual.
No, I think the, the VHS maynot have been as long.
Yeah, I remember it being short.
I don't, I don't think bitorwas on.
There was bitor on.

(01:03:28):
Oh my God.
But this I believe, is adifferent version.
That's what's on the actual.
Is it okay?
I, I, I.
How many times did you watchthis thing, Todd?
Wow.
Well, back then it was likeyou were very limited to what you
had versus now.

(01:03:49):
So whatever you had, youplayed the, the out of it.
I mean, you had records, youknow, where the grooves and tapes
would.
Would wear out and stretch andthey would squeal and screech when
they played.
Sorry.
It's time for a cold beverage.
I'm really enjoying our chat.

(01:04:10):
I needed this today.
Oh, okay, good.
I'm drinking CollingwoodDouble Barreled Cat Canadian whiskey
from Ontario.
I know.
Not a popular choice after Mr.Ford made fun of us or whatever.
He's doing My Fitbit.
I.
Well, my.

(01:04:30):
Do you have a drinking.
Drinking function on your Fitbit?
No, but I did notice if I havea drink, well, multiple drinks on
the weekends.
Okay.
And the next morning when Iget up and I check my Fitbit and
it says, oh, you had ahorrible sleep.

(01:04:51):
Oh, yeah, because I finally.
If I have a drink, like, I'dhave a drink now, but then tomorrow
I'd be just toast.
Yeah.
So I have to kind of waittill, you know, a couple days in
the week.
Well, I don't.
I.
You know what?
You know when I drink?
When I'm talking to you, whenyou drink or why you drink?
No, why drink?

(01:05:12):
I drink because of you, brother.
Okay.
We were supposed to do theother passer go, so let's.
Let's play right now.
Okay.
There we go.
Ready?
Yeah.
You'll have to splice themtogether, so.
I'll start that.
Okay.
Be real nice to him, eh?
Okay.
Okay.
This is the hit single sectionof our album.
Good day, Good day.

(01:05:32):
Geddy Lee is here from Rush.
Hi, Getty.
I'm Bob McKenzie.
This is my brother, Doug.
How's it going, Getty?
Oh, it's going pretty good.
Good day, Good day.
Good day.
Thanks for coming down to doour hit.
Well, it's my pleasure.
Did.
Did our lawyer call you?
Yeah.
You know, 10 bucks is 10 bucks.

(01:05:53):
I hope you don't mind, butthere's a photographer that's going
to be taking pictures of ustogether to prove.
Did they do a video for this.
In case people don't believe us?
How come he's not video?
Oh, he's not from the GreatWhite Northeast.
Okay.
So if you'd like to put on atoque and some headphones, we can
do the hit single now.
Sure.
Okay.

(01:06:13):
That'd be great.
Do you have the lyric sheet?
Oh, yeah, I memorized them.
Oh, great beauty.
How did.
How did you do that so fast?
I'm a professional.
We'll just sit over here, like, while you're singing, eh?
Okay.
Okay.
All right.
Thanks.
Okay.
Good luck, eh?
Okay.
Okay.

(01:06:34):
This is where the DJ talks.
Don't say anything.
Okay.
Cheesy as hell.
Casio keyboard.
Oh, beauty.
Go.
Okay.
Good day.
Welcome to our single.
I'm Bob McKenzie, and this ismy brother Doug.

(01:06:55):
How's it going, eh,.
Beauty, eh?
Yeah, I like that.
Okay.
Okay, everyone.
This record was my idea.
Get out.
It was.
You're lying.
Eaton Hose hit here just sortof rid on my coattail.
Why are you doing this?
It was our idea together.
Yeah.
Okay, okay.
We agreed to say that, but on Takeoff.

(01:07:18):
Okay, wait a second.
Hang on a second.
He said you.
Ridiculous.
On my coattails.
Is that a Canadian past tense?
Rid for road.
Yeah.
Well, you.
Yeah, you wrote on my.
So is rid.
Is that like a Canadian past tense?
Like a Canadian.
Canadian version of past tense?

(01:07:40):
Yeah.
Like get rid or get rid road.
Get rid.
Or is that like Canadianism?
Like, I read it.
I read it real hard.
A bit of an accent.
How many books did you read?
How many books did you read?
You're totally right.
I read.
Read a couple.
Oh, my God.

(01:08:02):
You like that, huh?
I like that, huh?
Yeah.
Okay, let's listen a littlebit more.
It's a beauty.
Way to go.
Decency.
Yeah.
Yeah, he's good.
Okay, so good day.
Our topic today is music.

(01:08:23):
That's right.
Like, because my brother and Iare now experts in the field.
Yeah, right, because we're aband now.
Yeah.
Well, except for him.
Who do you think is playingpiano there?
Oh, I don't know.
Probably.
I don't know if Gary wouldplay the piano on that.
Played the music.

(01:08:43):
I gotta know music.
On Bob and Doug album, decentvocals, eh?
Yeah.
Carrie Crawford on guitar inproduction, and Jonathan Goldsmith
on keyboards and arrangements.
The rhythm section featuredDave Nicole and Bob Dasal.

(01:09:05):
Oh, okay.
Additionally, the hit singleTakeoff features a famous vocal and
bass cameo by Giddy Lee of therockman Rush.
Oh, you play bass on it, too.
Nice.
Okay, Good to know.
Good to know.
All right.
Pass or go, Todd?
I want to go.
I mean, that's.
That's.
That's a classic.

(01:09:26):
That's a classic.
Bob and Doug with.
I mean, it's.
Yeah, it's.
It's in a category on its own,but it does show.
Like, Giddy's playing thepart, you know?
Yeah.
Oh, he's.
Please.
He's.
Playing.
He's playing it.
Yeah.
Oh, yeah.
So it's.
It's.
It's pretty.
And you can tell his voice issuper strong there.

(01:09:47):
I mean, that's when he's younger.
Like, he's just starting.
So I did see a skit.
Like I said, you get thesealgorithms for some reason.
I had Bob and Doug McKenzie Yep.
And it was one of their thingswhere they came together and it was
called.
They said.
We talked to our lawyers andit used to.
We were going to call itCanada Corner with K's instead of

(01:10:09):
C's.
Okay.
Canada Corner, Canadian Corneror something.
But we couldn't.
So we're.
It's Great White north orwhatever it was.
Yeah.
And they were drinking theirstubby beers.
Their stubby beers.
Back in the day, the neckswere like bodybuilder necks instead
of proper necks.

(01:10:30):
There are bodybuilder necks onthe bottles.
And do you remember when weused to go.
Did they have that in theStates, Todd, do you think, like
the little Stubbies, was thatjust a purely Canadian thing or was
that an American thing, too?
I don't know.
Long necks were the only thingthat I knew that the US had, as far
as I know.
But the stubby was.

(01:10:50):
Remember.
Remember when we screwed the beach?
Yep.
Okay.
We'd have Uncle Ronnie.
Yeah.
Well, we'd have Uncle Peter.
We'd have.
Oh, my God, Junior and.
Oh, geez, the whole gang.
Yeah.
And.
And we'd all be at the beach.
They'd all have those coolers.

(01:11:11):
But back then it wasn't like aColeman cooler.
This was like you went to theDewares or whatever.
And then the Styrofoam Continental.
The Styrofoam cooler.
Coolers.
And then they grab ice andthrow it in all their stubby beers.
They go in there and then theyshove the beer into the.
In the sand to keep it cool.
Right?
Yeah, yeah.
While they were.
While they were drinking it intheir lawn chairs.

(01:11:33):
And we'd all be out in thewater, all the cousins and everything.
Yeah.
And then we'd be playing withthe jellyfish or whatever it was.
So that.
The stubbies.
That was kind of the era.
This was like.
And what was the brand?
70S.
Was that schooner?
Was that something else or was it.
They had schooner.
It wasn't blue.
Yeah, they had Labats.

(01:11:53):
They had blue.
I don't know if Labats hadlight back then.
It may have just.
No, there's no way there waslight beer back then.
And then.
Do you remember, James?
Ready?
Yeah, I don't know if thatstill exists.
Yeah, I think it's still there.
I think there's a James.
No, wait.
Oh, maybe I'm mixing it with Canadian.
Like all the.

(01:12:14):
Oh, Canadian.
Like when we moved toManitoba, it was like, what is club
beer?
I've never heard.
Yeah, like all the beer was like.
And that was.
I don't.
Did we have Blue.
Back home.
Labet's blue, yeah.
Oh, yeah.
I remember seeing a couple because.
Okay, well, yeah, but a couple.
Of course.
Of course you did that.
And Alpine.

(01:12:34):
Alpine was.
Alpine.
Alpine, yeah.
Oh, what was the other one?
No, no, I'm thinking Schooner.
Sorry.
Yeah.
Schooner.
Schooner and Alpine.
Those are two of the big ones, for sure.
Yeah.
Schooner was my brand, I guesswhen I went.
When I was drinking beer.
Yeah.

(01:12:54):
But.
Yeah, and then we moved outhere and there's a whole bunch of
brands I'd never heard of, soI was like.
Then the American brandstarted coming in.
Like they had the silverbullet type of thing.
They had the Miller.
They had all these otherbrands that just kind of came in.

(01:13:14):
I guess they must have beencalled imported back.
Back in the day.
Sure.
Because they weren't.
They weren't from here, so.
Yeah, no, I should have made electronics.
Sorry, Ty.
You pulled one of those.
We might have to redo that one.
I think we should redo that one.

(01:13:35):
I'll get you to play the guitar.
We'll do the.
Well, I didn't know what I was doing.
I don't know.
I'm not a studio rat.
I have no idea what I'm doing.
Hey, there's nothing wrongwith that.
You just make it just dirty.
Just cheap and dirty and fast.
And that's what you're goingto use.
Sure.
That's the way to do her.
Just like New Brunswick.
American MacGyver.

(01:13:56):
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
You just do with what you got and.
Yeah.
Okay.
So do you remember this?
Okay.
Where are you?
I'm over here.
Eh, no.
Okay.
Like, here we are, stranger.
Peter's Donuts.

(01:14:16):
Oh, take off.
We are not three.
We are.
Why?
Oh, okay.
Thanks.
Okay, thanks.
No, thanks for blowing.
No, you're right.
It's three.
Oh, no, no.
It's three in the morning andwe're at.
What?
Whose donuts?
Peter's Donut.
Peter's Donut.
There, she's at the till now.
She'll see us in a minute.
You want your favorite donut?
Hey.
Hey, over here.

(01:14:36):
Get his booted out.
Oh, good.
Go over here for donuts.
Don't listen to him, eh?
He's a.
He's a hoser.
What kind of donut you order?
A cr.
No, I want pineapple filled.
Pineapple?
Pineapple.
I like raised chocolate in theevening and pineapple overnight.
Okay, one pineapple filled donut.

(01:14:57):
Thanks.
And a six pack of Crillers.
A six?
Yeah.
For me.
I. I didn't have any dinner.
And you, you're not going tohave Any breakfast either?
Oh, and two coffees.
Yeah.
Make his black and mine'striple sugar and triple cream.
Boy, go to the dentist.
Okay.
I have a top.
While we're waiting.

(01:15:17):
Go.
Okay.
You know.
Okay, in the great Whitenorth, it went metric, right?
Yeah.
Before anywhere else in theworld, right?
Yeah.
So like, a lot of people don'tknow how to.
How to figure out metric, right?
Okay, so me neither.
Okay, I'll teach it.
So there's a.
A fast way, which is to doubleit and add 30.
Okay.
So like, if it's.
Let's say on the radio says.
Okay, so today it'll be cloudyand 5 degrees.

(01:15:39):
So how do you do it?
You go.
You double it.
5, fives, 10.
You had 30?
30 and 10 is 40.
It's the old 40 degrees.
So when you say 5 degrees, 40.
Like, how many beers wouldthat be?
If you want like a six pack beers.
6, 6, 12 and 30.
42 beers.
42 metric beers.
Well, that's good for me.

(01:16:00):
Yeah.
I count me in on method.
Yeah.
And back bacon.
It's like, normally you need apound, right?
Yeah.
So in metric, you double it as2 and 30 is 32 kilos of back big.
Yeah, but what if the speedlimit is like 50 miles an hour?
Yeah.
Then what do you do?
Double it.
130.
Yeah.
So you can go 130 miles an hour?
No, not miles, 130 kilometersan hour.

(01:16:22):
Would you get a ticket ifyou're going that fast?
No.
Well, that's good becausewe're getting one now.
Look.
Jesus.
Donut places.
The guy's got 10 tables inthree spots.
Yeah, it was your idea to parkon the street.
Let's go.
You go.
You go talk to the guy.
Give the cops donuts and wewon't give us tickets.

(01:16:42):
Hey, cops want donuts.
You.
You pay for the donuts.
I'll go talk to the cops.
All cops listen to this album.
Don't give us tickets.
Yeah, at least not at a donutplace, eh?
We'll give you donuts if you don't.
Give us a ticket.
Yeah, we'll mail them to them.
That was reminiscent of Cheechand Chong's.

(01:17:03):
Dave's not here.
Oh, my God, it's so.
It's so the same.
Yeah, yeah, back in the era.
Yeah, Cheech and Chong albumswere awesome.
This is my favorite Bob andDoug skit.
The whole metric system.
Oh, okay.
Count me in on metric.
How many beers is that?
How many metric beers?

(01:17:23):
2.
6 times 2 is 12.
42 beers.
Great.
I mean, Β£5 is what, 2.2 kilos, right?
Yeah.
So if you work everythingaround that, then you can figure
it out.
Yeah, that's great.
And.
Yeah.
Yeah.

(01:17:44):
Okay.
So totally forgot where wecame from.
But remember, we listened toBattle Scar by Max Webster.
Yes.
Then we listened to Gid Leewith Take Off.
Yeah.
Take Off.
Yeah.
Okay, so versus who wins twoGetty Lee guest vocals on both.
Both tracks.

(01:18:04):
Which is the best Getty Leeguest vocal?
Well, I like the Max Websterversion just because I can get down
to it.
Yeah.
Whereas the other one is coolto hear.
Yeah.
So I don't know.
I take the Max Lips for one, I guess.
Yeah, I, I, I think.
Me too.
Yeah,.

(01:18:25):
I love that that Max Westeralbum also has that song check on
it.
Okay.
Yeah.
Remember that?
Yep.
Very good.
Well, the fans don't know whatwe're talking about.
No.
Let's play a second.
Where is it?
Here, the pop.

(01:18:47):
Check, check, check.
Holy.
Yeah.
Kim Mitchell can't play guitar.
Like.
What a hack.

(01:19:09):
I've been being sarcastic, bythe way.
This is my.
Well, this was that Rush Exit Stage.
You can't see it through the thing.
Yeah, I got the pop.
Yeah, yeah, the pop vinylthing, whatever.
Yeah, it's got Rush Exit Stage Left.
That was the one that you.
I guess you told Don.
It's got the.
It's got the album.
Does it actually have thealbum behind it?
The actual album album?

(01:19:30):
It's got the album cover.
Does it get an actual lp?
But I don't know.
I didn't.
I never opened it.
It's.
It's one of those things where.
Yeah.
Like, it's the very first itemthat I have.
Just.
Just kind of like peoplebuying action figures and they don't
open the box.
Yeah, I don't think you'resupposed to open it.

(01:19:50):
So this is.
I mean, I could, but I prefernot to.
Oh, it's basically the girlwhere Rush Exit Stage Left.
Yeah.
She's standing in front of the.
The curtain.
She got the blue dress, and soit's basically a pop of.
Of that person with the RushExit Stage Left album cover in the
back.
So that's pretty cool.

(01:20:12):
Okay, let's listen to a couplemore minutes or a couple more Minutes.
A couple more seconds.
Okay,.
Check this out.

(01:20:42):
Here we are, Here we are Watchthe world turn Feeling our ears burn
Check this out.
Pass or Go?
Go.
Go at.
Go at 100 kilometers an hour,.

(01:21:06):
Which is 62 miles an hour, I think.
I think that's what it is.
What a good song.
Yeah, very good.
Okay.
Also on that same album.
Okay, I think it's on the same album.
Ready for this one?
Okay.

(01:21:26):
Oh, it's live and.
No, I want.
I want the live one.
Remember this one?
Sa.

(01:22:14):
Take a cruise, Take a holiday Cold.
Morning in the draw Blue eyesin the window.

(01:22:35):
Sun it.
It's all over.
Hangover.
Holy hell.
That's not something you wantto listen to when you have a hangover.
But nope, pass or go.
Go.
Yeah.
Yeah.

(01:22:55):
Max Webster's great, man.
I miss the big stereo likeDave Brun had in the basement.
They had the records and youjust crank it and you can feel the
music.
Yep.
Yeah, I like listen.
Did he have this one?
Did we listen to this at his house?

(01:23:17):
No, no, he was more into thesouthern rock.
Yeah, Southern rock.
You know, Jay Giles and.
But you know what, Todd?
Doobies and you know what, Todd?
Guess who sucked the jets werelousy anyway.
Do I got to play it again?
I heard of some of the Jets.

(01:23:38):
Guess who sucked the jets werelousy anyway.
Who's that?
Anytime I get a chance to disthe guess who, I guess it's worthwhile.
I don't know.
Oh, okay.
Okay.
So that's a go for me.
So we heard a whole bunch ofMax Webster songs featuring Kim Mitchell.
Kim Mitchell, Canadian icon.

(01:23:59):
Is that.
Is that fair to say?
Yeah, I would say so.
Yeah.
So that was all his.
That was a whole bunch of his work.
He always had a ball cap withlong hair because I think he was
bald on top of his head.
Oh, yeah.
And then now you.
Now he looks like Max Headroomor you know, one of those guys that
shaves their head.
He kind of looks way different.

(01:24:22):
Yeah, way different.
Now he.
I don't think people realizehow big he is.
He was in Canada, but MaxWebster was like kind of a big.
It was a big deal, but it waslike really weird band.
Right?
Like it was.

(01:24:42):
You know, it wasn't.
I don't know what the word.
Kind of like street heart.
Like it was kind of like a.
Not a local.
It was local, but it was more.
They're a well known Canadian band.
Not.
Not as big as.
As Triumph or Rush or anythinglike that.
But.
But I think he was bigger onhis own, right?

(01:25:02):
Would you say?
I would say so because he hadthe big.
He was.
More sodas.
Yeah.
At least that's when I heardof him more so when he became just
Kim Mitchell instead of Max Webster.
Okay, so this.
This was probably the biggesthit here of his score solo career.

(01:25:46):
So.
Okay, now it's got some guitarin it.
Right, right.
It's got some good guitar.
Get that big, you know, thatbig launch.
But very, like, poppy.
Right.
And then he had this song.
Another poppy song.
Right.
Very radio friendly.
Go for Soda.

(01:26:07):
We actually played in LJR inthe Gym.
We played it in an amateurnight one yet.
What?
Go for a Soda.
Yeah.
Really?
Yeah.
I don't think you were.
You may not have been there.
Oh, I missed that one.
Because I would.
I would definitely rememberthat one.
Yeah, yeah, we did that.
We did Brian Adams.
Was it Run to you.
Run to you.
Yeah, yeah.
I never seen.

(01:26:27):
We did Wipe out.
And then during the drum solopart, I played Eruption.
Nice.
While he's doing his drumming.
So.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
The good old days now.
So very poppy stuff.
Right.
So he comes out of the gate.
First single is.
Is Go for Soda, Right.
That was a big solo debut.

(01:26:48):
Get a really cool video for itwith Bugamos.
Bugamo's like, look alike.
In case you forget who Bugamo is.
He's the guy that said, whereis it?
Here.
Get off the stage.
Right.
Get off the stage.
Yeah, that's bugable.
Anyway, that.

(01:27:09):
That's Shuck Touche there.
That's Shaktish.
Anyway, so, okay, so there'skind of a.
There's a perception.
Oh, he could play some guitar.
But wow, those are reallypoppy songs.
Right, right.
But then he.
He does this.
Yeah, yeah.

(01:27:46):
That's crunchy, man.

(01:28:12):
Went through the kitchen doorfrom the.
Dancing girl did everything onthe menu matter.
Has to go Todd, go like.
Like.
How many hits can you write?

(01:28:36):
Well, this was back in the daywhen you bought a cassette.
You made sure you listen toevery goddamn song on it.
Yeah.
It was too much of a pain inthe ass to f.
It.
Yeah.
You know what?
Thank God it had two sides.
So that you go back to the beginning.
And the other one, you have torewind it all the way back like a
VHS tape.

(01:28:57):
Here, I'm gonna put this on.
So this was his other song.
There's a million good.
Like, yeah, he had the popstuff, but he was smart enough to
do a pop hit.
That was one that we played.
Rockin.
Oh, yeah.
Don't give it away.
Don't give it away.
Sorry.
We're gonna play it, but I getthe video because I love the video
for this.

(01:29:17):
Everybody's all set.
Long hair, do you remember thevideo for this?
Let's do rock and roll duty.
You guys want to do that forthe sound check?
I love this video.

(01:29:39):
Turn up your drums yeah, yeah, yeah,.

(01:30:06):
Racer.

(01:30:27):
I hit My mic.
Sounds too good though.
Okay.
Paul, can you turn me on, please?
Paul, can you turn me on?
Oh, kick a boot, lay in thekitchen sink.
Okay, fine.
And don't forget sound check.
Bartender.
It's my dad.
Okay.

(01:30:57):
Oh, hell creat.
Okay, Todd, come on.
Yeah, that's a go.
All day long.
Yeah, we used to play that one too.
I know.
That was.
Yeah, rocking.
I played it with you in.
In Montreal in the garage.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, that waswith that old Ibanez.

(01:31:21):
Yeah.
That I get from Zap's brother.
What a good fucking song.
Yeah, like fucking hell.
Like, how is this guy notfucking bigger in the States?
Marketing?
I don't know.
Yeah, hard to say.
I do want to point out.
So he had long timecollaborator was.

(01:31:43):
Was Pie Dubois.
P I P Y E Dubois, I think whois featured on this song.
Do you remember this song?

(01:32:08):
Yes.
I want to say we'll look here.
All we are is all in the Breesp is the highest our spins we get

(01:32:32):
hearts on fire and in loveSometimes we're too light to see.

(01:33:00):
Good video.
You might as well.
Remember the.
This other vocalist, Todd.
Don't ask me if I'm still inlove I'm hit by this love song.

(01:33:28):
I sing.
You.

(01:33:54):
Right here.
We feel the new one.
Oh my God.
Hell Goosebumps, right?
Yeah.
Originally I thought that wasKim Mitchell singing all like, God,

(01:34:16):
his tone is off, but no,that's the.
Well, not tone is off, butit's not.
It wasn't his voice.
It wasn't his.
Yeah, yeah.
You know, and.
But it was like, wow, this guycan sing.
That's like when we went to gosee Journey and there was that song
that the drummer's singing andI thought for sure it was the lead

(01:34:38):
singer.
And I was like, no, it's the drummer.
Yeah, he's got pipes on himand he's playing the drums.
It's like, holy crap.
So Kim Mitchell's longtimecollaborator was that guy?
Well, yeah, because he playsbass, he plays guitar, he plays piano.
I saw him at the AppleFestival one year.

(01:34:58):
What was the Apple Apple, likethe Cordon Apple Festival.
I went to the festival one year.
Yeah.
And.
That was the year I think youhad to bring my ex to the hospital
or something or other.

(01:35:19):
Oh my God.
Yeah.
And I was.
And Kim Mitchell.
I remember Kim Mitchell wasplaying out there.
I thought it was called theApple Festival.
The Corridor and Apple Festival.
No, it wasn't Cordon.
No, this was like out of town.
Like it was a.
The more.
Sorry, the morden Apple Festival.
Okay.
That could be it.
Yeah.
Like you had to drive in andpeople were camping and the stage

(01:35:42):
and the beer gardens and.
Yeah, yeah.
One of the only times everyoneout and.
Yeah, but.
Yeah, that was.
But they were excellent.
And I remember him playingbass like he was.
He was up there.
The other guy with Kim.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
So, yeah, he was like the likethe guy in.

(01:36:04):
The guy in.
Now, did he.
Chester, is he just not oldenough to grow hair?
Like.
Okay.
In the video he's wearing thislike aqua.
Aqua blue velvet jacket withlike shoulder pads and no shirt.
Yeah.
Kind of like no chest hair.
Nothing.
Just mind you, Kim Mitchellhad nothing.

(01:36:26):
You know, he was pretty skinny.
He was skinnier than.
Yeah,.
So.
So that guy was kind of likethe secret weapon.
Mm, yeah.
Like he was really good.
But I think a lot of.
I think he was co writing with Kim.

(01:36:47):
Okay.
And honestly, I think.
I think that he was key togetting the pop sensibilities, but
he was also like a much.
I don't know, like a really, really, really, like solid singer.
Right?

(01:37:08):
Very, very solid.
Now did he play anywhere else?
Sorry, what's that?
Did he play anywhere else orwith anyone else?
Or was it just straight withCamp Pie dubois?
Let's.
Let's see, this is some goodCanadian history here.

(01:37:29):
PI dubois, Canadian lyricistand poet.
He's worked mainly with KimMitchell and Max Webster.
Oh, and Max Webster.
So he brought him with him.
Dubois accompanied Max Websterin the studio and wrote lyrics for
each of their albums.
He was given lyric writingcredits and several Rush songs, most
notably Tom Sawyer okay.

(01:37:52):
Which has been included in thesoundtrack of several films.
Dubois wrote the poem There isa lake between sun and moon, which
inspired Rush to write many ofthe lyrics for the album counterparts,
including a song of the samename for which dubois received co
writing credit.
He is also credited as awriter on The Rush Songs Force 10
and Tes 4 Echo.

(01:38:12):
After Max Webster dissolved,Dubois continued his writing relationship
with singer and guitarist KimMitchell on his solo albums.
The this included all but oneof the songs on Kim's platinum Akimbo
logo.
Every song on the tripleplatinum Shaking Like a Human Being
Shaken Like a Human Being wenttriple fucking platinum.
Fuck yeah.
In double platinum Rockland.

(01:38:34):
Dubois had a falling out withMitchell during the sessions for
Rockland, caused by Mitchell'sdecision to record the album in the
US without dubois present inthe studio as he had been in the
past.
Dubois did not write onMitchell's follow up album, Oral
Fixations.
That was a good album though.
Lyrics on that album Werehandled largely by Jim Chevalier

(01:38:54):
and Andy Curran, but didreturn for 1995's itch.
Dubois took part in severalMax Webster reunion concerts, but
not for their most recent onein Toronto in 2007.
H this guy's Dubois wasinducted into the Canadian Songwriters
hall of fame in 2021.

(01:39:16):
Oh, so he's getting paid.
Yeah, man.
Or he was getting paid like a wow.
Huh?
Okay, I'm just going to playthis real quick.
This is Cal thinking of you.
If you know the song, singalong, please.
All right.

(01:39:37):
Remember this song?
Oh, these guys don't look thesame at all anymore.
It's 2023.
All right.

(01:39:58):
Looking.
That video.
Oh, sorry.

(01:40:27):
This is Harlequin thinking of you.
Okay.
I'm okay.
I thought it was at first whenhe started singing.
I was like, hey, is that theguy from the wrestler?
What's that guy's name?
Mickey Rourke.
Mickey Rourke.

(01:40:48):
Nice.
Nice.
I thought.
I was trying to find.
So Harlequin.
When they used to play live, the band would often play without
the singer and the bass playerwould handle the singing duties at
the time when we used to seethem in the clubs.
Oh, and they used to be calledHowling Now.

(01:41:10):
Oh, okay.
Do you remember that?
I think I remember themplaying at the.
Oh, is it called Palladium?
No.
Nope.
Night Moves.
Night Moves.
That was a double tiered bar, right?
Night Moves, correct.

(01:41:32):
Yes.
Or 92 City.
Or was it 92 Kiss FM?
I don't know.
They had different names.
That's every Friday night.
They had the live bands.
Yep.
Yeah.
I was trying to see if I couldfind Howling now anywhere, but I
see nothing.
Band.
So basically they would playon their own without.

(01:41:53):
I don't know.
I can't remember who thesinger was.
Not Kenny Shields.
But anyway, they would playwithout them and then the bass player
would sing and the keyboardplayer would also sing and they would
do a version of ComfortablyNumb, which I always said, and you
always told me, no, it's not true.
I always said they played aversion of Comfortably Numb that
was better than the Pink Floyd version.

(01:42:13):
You always told me, no, that'snot true.
But.
But because both they had twosingers, they sang kind of the two
parts.
Okay.
The keyboard player would singthe higher part and the bass player
would play the lower part.
But anyway, interesting.
Kenny Shields, when I went toMid Ocean Recording Studios here,

(01:42:36):
actually just over here, eonsago, when these to be open, when
we were doing our recording,Kenny Shields came in and did a demo
thing.
Just what he did the.
He did the.
The drums, the Guitar and thebass, and he did all of the stuff.
And then we kind of recorded them.
What?
And we all took.
No, you didn't.
Mixing it.

(01:42:56):
Yeah.
Holy.
That was back in the day.
Holy.
I had no idea.
I was.
Yeah.
Was it recording engineerLevel one or whatever it was.
His singer for Harlequin isGreg Belonging.
Or George Belonging.
George.
Guitarist Gwen Willows.

(01:43:17):
Newfoundland Jar Willows.
Hey, George.
For a drink.
Let's go drinking.
Says, ah, I can't.
Why not?
Says I got a case of diarrhea.
So it's okay.
Bring it along.
We'll drink anything.

(01:43:38):
Hell, that's awesome.
All right.
Okay.
We should cap it off here.
We've been going on forever.
But I had a good time.
Yeah, it was good.
Good.
My Winston's trying to get myattention here.
Yeah.
I got to go say good night tothe kids.
I got to get to bed.
I don't have time.
It's too late.
Okay.
No killing zombies.
But we have to talk aboutmaybe in the next episode.

(01:43:59):
Like the.
The version 3.
3 of 7 Days to Die just came out.
Oh, yeah, it's.
Yeah, I downloaded Max Payne 3.
Nice.
I'm replaying.
Yeah, just because it was.
It was like.
You know there's a pill forthat, right?
What's that?
Max Payne.

(01:44:19):
Yeah.
No, quit that.
Quit that.
Max Payne 3.
That's where you kind of flythrough the air in slow motion and
you get the.
The bullet thing.
Bullet time or whatever.
Bullet time.
Yeah.
So.
Because I was looking at someold games and the.
The holidays and everything.
Like the first of July andhere and then the Fourth of July

(01:44:42):
in the US they had a sale on.
On Steam.
So I was looking at some ofthe older games going, geez, it's
like five bucks.
I'll buy it.
Oh, yeah.
Why not?
Yeah, exactly.
All right, so we got our listof topics down.
126 topics on the board.
We're down 126.
Because you and I added awhole bunch.

(01:45:02):
We were actually down to 124,and now we're up to 126.
How about that?
We knocked two off.
We did some pass or go.
We did some.
Oh, wait, Versus.
Oh, no, we did the Versus.
We already did the Versus.
And we also decided.
Yeah, we decided that KimMitchell is awesome.
And the next time he playsTodd, why don't we just go.
He's played the casino a bunchof times.

(01:45:22):
Hey, we could even probablyinterview him.
Who knows, actually.
Who knows?
You know what?
Why not?
I'm gonna try.
Doesn't hurt.
To try.
It doesn't hurt to try.
We got Daryl Dwarf from theKiller Doors.
Yeah.
You know, we could get Kim Mitchell.
Sure, we can try.
If anyone's listening to theshow, has any connections that can
make this a little bit easier,I'll take you up on it.

(01:45:45):
Yeah, you know.
All right.
All right.
Awesome.
Okay.
Talk to you later, bro.
And.

(01:46:07):
