‘I mean it’s awful to have to go through them, but if I hadn’t gone through any of them, I wouldn’t be the person I am today. So, as painful as it is, you can’t have light without the dark, a rainbow without the rain, you just know you the more you avoid the dichotomies the more it’s going to be drawn to you, so I really am grateful for it. But the way I got through it was probably just having such a reassurance in myself and backing myself, that you know, eventually I would get a yes, whether it was in my career in dancing or business career, it’s going to put me where I am meant to be. So just backing myself, believing in myself and having a bit of trust in the Universe that it’s already mapped out is probably what got me through.’ ~ Tayla Morrison
Welcome to this very special 500th episode of the Self Love Podcast. I can hardly believe we’ve reached this incredible milestone, and I truly couldn’t think of a more meaningful way to celebrate it than with someone who holds my heart – my daughter, Tayla Morrison.
Tayla’s journey is one of passion, perseverance, and reinvention. From her early days dancing on stage to navigating the highs and lows of life, to now stepping into her power as a leader in the wellness space, she embodies what it means to rise, to evolve, and to trust deeply in yourself and the Universe.
In today’s episode, we dive into the challenges she’s faced, the courage it took to pivot, and the beautiful way she now channels her purpose through movement, mindset, and heart. She shares her philosophy on self-love, what it really means to back yourself, and how she’s found light through the dark.
This is more than just a mother-daughter conversation – it’s a celebration of growth, legacy, and love. I’m so proud of the woman Tayla is and beyond honoured to share this milestone moment with her and with you.
From dancing on stage to directing a thriving wellness brand, Tayla Morrison’s journey has been anything but ordinary. Starting dance at the age of five, Tayla trained professionally with the Queensland National Ballet and went on to live out her dream performing cabaret across Europe—including a once-in-a-lifetime role with a circus in Germany.
After dedicating nearly two decades to her career as a dancer, a spinal fracture and the global pause of COVID brought significant challenges—not just physically, but emotionally and mentally. This time became a catalyst for reinvention. Tayla’s resilience and curiosity led her to expand her skills, earning an Advanced Diploma in Dance, Cert III & IV in Fitness and Personal Training, Cert IV in Mat and Reformer Pilates, a Masters in Neuro Linguistic Programming, and a Diploma of Counselling.
Her journey through movement, mindset, and healing paved the way to a rewarding career in fitness and wellbeing. She became a passionate Personal Trainer and Pilates teacher, eventually stepping into the role of Programs and Performance Manager at Project Reform, where she continues to lead with heart and vision.
Today, Tayla brings her depth of experience, fierce drive, and creative flair to Twenty8 Essentials as Managing Director. Having watched her mum, Kim Morrison, build this incredible company from the ground up, Tayla always had a quiet knowing she’d one day be part of its story. Now, that vision has come to life. Working side by side with her mum, she’s proud to carry forward the legacy—infusing Twenty8 with fresh energy, bold ideas, and a deep respect for its roots.
Her definition of Self Love is: Self-respect. If you know your worth ultimately you love yourself.
Her favourite quote is:
If you bet on yourself you can never lose.

Quotes: I am a go-getting confident woman who loves giving it her all. Covid taught me to live in the moment good and bad. I am such a doer, so I need to fill my time and not waste my time. I was always confident and knew what I wanted at high school. I had someone like you in my corner helping me to feel confident no matter what. Have the space to get it mapped out – just DO something. It’s freeing to rebuild yourself over and over it’s an opportunity to remodel. If you are going to do some thing do it well. Commit to it. Do something every day to improve yourself by 1%. Body image around dancing has changed a lot but there is a lot of traditional ways too. Dance is a beautiful way express yourself. A lot of no’s bring you closer to the next yes. As painful as it is you cannot have light without the dark. You can’t have light without the dark, a rainbow without the rain. Trust in the Universe that it’s already mapped out – is probably what got me through. It was awful but at the same time it was insane. It made me rise above and
