‘Life can give us these horrible bolder moments that make decisions that we are sort of forced into change. Or we can say, hey I am going to create some change myself, some positive change and shake things up. So that, Universe or Light whatever you want to call it doesn’t do it for us. And there are Japanese concepts that I love and it’s called Kensho and Satori. And so, for those listening who have not heard of it which I heard many many years ago and it’s stuck with me. Kensho is growth through pain, growth through those rock bottom moments that force us to change. And Satori is growth through inspiration. And it’s much more enjoyable, it can be somewhat slower growth journey but it’s obviously a chosen pathway and much more enjoyable.’ ~ Maritza Barone

In this inspiring episode, Kim is joined by the incredible Maritza Barone – former TV presenter, podcast host, and voice coach – who shares her journey from Melbourne to Fiji and the Sunshine Coast in search of deeper purpose and self-discovery. Together they explore the power of storytelling, the growth of podcasting, and how personal challenges can spark transformation. Maritza opens up about her family’s move during COVID, the lessons learned, and how self-love, mindfulness, and authentic confidence became the foundation of her work. They also dive into the generational impact on youth, the importance of mentorship, and creating space for powerful, purpose-led voices. An uplifting conversation you wont want to miss about change, connection, and living with intention.

Maritza Barone has had an illustrious career in the mainstream media world as a TV presenter, radio host, and producer — gracing red carpets, MC’ing & hosting major sporting events and film premieres, and interviewing celebrities across Australia.

But behind the polished media presence was a deeper personal journey — one of learning to break free from self-doubt, build authentic confidence, and step into her true voice. Maritza knows what it feels like to question your worth, to dim your light, and to wonder if you’re really “good enough.” And that’s exactly why she’s made it her mission to help others move past those same doubts.

Seeking greater purpose and meaning behind her work, Maritza created her own platforms to inspire and empower. She launched the Things You Can’t Un-Hear podcast — now a top-ranked show in self-development and wellbeing — to share transformative conversations that awaken confidence, expand perspective, and spark personal growth.

Through her purpose-led Guide Your Light Network, Maritza helps emerging and established voices bring their message to the world through powerful, purpose-driven podcasts. As a speaker, coach, and mentor, she supports people in finding the courage to be seen and heard, and in developing the confidence to express themselves with impact.

Maritza’s work is rooted in the belief that everyone has a story worth sharing — and that real confidence comes not from perfection, but from owning who you are and showing up anyway.

Her definition of Self Love is: I’m a tea lover. Having a cup of tea is one of the biggest self-love actions. I do it whilst I am drinking and moving around the house for half an hour is pure bliss, a non-negotiable me moment. It allows my thoughts in my head to catchup. It’s a switch off, a cup of tea in silence. Let it all catch up. Write it down and get it out of your head.

Her favourite quotes are: If they say it’s impossible they mean it’s for them, not for you. Be a creator in your life, you can create the life that you want to live.

Quotes: I am passionate about meeting people and helping them to live their purpose. Life’s short, take risks, be a little crazy. Kensho is growth through pain and Satori is growth through inspiration. Our biggest learning is we know we can do it. There are both sides there in Fiji. The mountain calmed my nervous system right down. It is an awakening of sorts where you start to question a lot of things. The term personal development kind of annoys me now. There comes a point where you have learnt a lot and it’s time to meet yourself in the middle of who you were beforehand. When we are always going into the healing we can forget to have fun. Those bathroom floor moments lead us to the healing. Once you hear it or see it you cannot unhear it or unsee it. It’s called the Guide Your Light network. I call it sharing my voice and that gives us freedom. If it’s in you to speak up then this is a
