We catch up after a brutal snowstorm drive, a missed release, and another round of remote recording chaos that turns into a surprisingly good setup. Then we pivot back to the ranch where we try to find Nemo but end up with a new puppy instead. We talk the reality of running a dog sanctuary and feeling grateful and overwhelmed at the same time.

SPEAKER_04 (00:07):
Hey everybody, welcome back to Site Design.
I'm Mark D.
I'm Mark.
You sound a little better.
Yeah.
Audio quality-wise than the lasttime we talked.

SPEAKER_01 (00:18):
Uh, it's because I made it to my destination.

SPEAKER_04 (00:20):
You did.
You did.
It's been uh about a well, it'sbeen like a week, really.
Well, since we kind of talked atall, but uh yeah, since you were
traveling.
And uh well, let's kind of startthere.
The when we we talked on thepod, the trip was going well,

(00:42):
and then it got a little snowy.

SPEAKER_01 (00:45):
Oh Jesus, yes.
That was yeah.
After I got off of uh excuse me,I-80 and hit the 84 uh for Ogden
and stuff.
Yeah, I ran into a hell of asnowstorm and ice and everything
else with uh semis that uh liketo slide off the road and other

(01:09):
cars that like to slide off theroad and uh shit.
It was the worst drive I've hadin 20, 25 years of driving.
It was it was pretty bad.
Yeah, that's what you weresaying.

SPEAKER_04 (01:20):
That sounded awful, and that was like oh it was
geez, and it was middle of thenight.
You know, you've been on theroad for god, 20 something
hours, right?
20 something hours, yeah.
Yeah, brutal.
But it sounds like, I mean, wehave uh you know you've been I
mean you're there to seefamilies, you've been busy and

(01:42):
doing stuff, and so have I overhere, and so we haven't really
had a chance to catch up.
But sounds like you're having ablast up there.

SPEAKER_01 (01:49):
Oh, dude, it's been great.
Uh yeah, it took me a few daysof mellowing out to get over the
drive and everything, but we'vegot to see the the great niece.
Her name's Hazley.
Uh God we I think I've seen herfour or five times now.
Got to hold her a few times.
Nothing better than holding alittle little baby.
She was uh preemie.

(02:10):
So that was great.
They let you hold her.
And then yesterday we what'sthat?
They let you hold her.
Yeah, they're not very bright.
Yeah.
Enjoy it until they catch you.
Yeah, then yesterday we went upto uh Vancouver to see Koi,
which is our son, and his wifeand uh grandson Sterling.

(02:32):
So we went up there and uh metthem at a bowling alley and got
the whole uh play with Sterling.
You don't hold Sterling anymore,he'll be one here on the 19th.
So you don't hold them anymore.
He just sits there in his car inhis uh stroller and eats his
shoes.
So yeah, yeah, he's a he's a bigguy for a one-year-old.

(02:55):
Oh, he is big.
He's got a he's got a cousinthat's a year older than he is,
and Sterling is just like a halfa head shorter than he is.

unknown (03:05):
Oh my god.

SPEAKER_01 (03:07):
So he definitely takes care after our side of the
family.

SPEAKER_04 (03:10):
Mm-hmm.
Yeah.
Yep.
Well, good.
I mean, I'm glad it's I'm gladit's going well.
Um it's things here have beengood too.
It was we've had some storms andstuff.
Well, it was just a few days ofstorms.
Um lot of well, actually, thelast time that we I guess we

(03:32):
could back up, right?
Because we've talked about onthe last episode uh how we were
supposed to be, you know, allset to record remote, and then
blah blah blah.
Certain people, certain co-hoststhat shall remain nameless, uh
didn't do what they weresupposed to do.

SPEAKER_01 (03:50):
Hold on, I'm the only frickin' chromostery.

SPEAKER_04 (03:53):
Jesus.
I was hoping you couldn't do themath on that.
Oh shit.
Sorry.
That's all right.
Uh but uh yeah, so um we wemissed we missed a release um
for uh you know that was one ofthe reasons.
Uh we did actually sit down umto record an episode.

(04:17):
Um and we had we had sometrouble getting it set up for
the remote.
Uh and then when we finally did,the massive freaking storm
rolled in over here.
It's like, oh god.
Which, you know, peoplelistening in their Manhattan
apartments are like, was why whywould that affect it?

(04:38):
Um it's it fucks up theinternet, okay, when it rains
here.

SPEAKER_01 (04:43):
Uh considering we down there we run off of
Starlink.
Yeah.
And when the storm rolls in,Starlink says, Fuck it.

SPEAKER_04 (04:52):
You know, uh, it actually doesn't, at least
that's not been my experience.
And um maybe you probably Idon't know, maybe you haven't
been here long enough.
Or maybe did it do that inWashington when you had
Starlink?
If it rained stuff, it wouldhave issues.

SPEAKER_01 (05:08):
Uh if it rained really, really hard, yeah.
It would it would slow down.
It wouldn't stop, but yeah, itwould slow it down.

SPEAKER_04 (05:14):
Yeah, yeah.
I I'm actually really impressedwith how it doesn't really
impact it much.
The problem I have specificallyis not the Starlink, it's the
fucking laser beams that I havebetween the barn and the house,
right?
The high tech shit.
Well, it's yeah, it's uhunfortunately it has to be high

(05:36):
tech because of the situation.
But yeah, I mean that's thebiggest problem, is like it when
it rained because it's line ofsight, and so when you know, you
get that I I reckon that laserbeam stuff bounces off of water
drops.
So that's that's your scientificexplanation.

(05:57):
Uh but no, I do like it.

SPEAKER_01 (06:00):
I can understand that.
Yeah.

SPEAKER_04 (06:02):
But yeah, I I have noticed that that it's usually
not the internet per se, it'sjust the connection between the
barn and the house.
And then, you know, my thingsare when when things are really
bad, my channel starts going outtoo.

SPEAKER_01 (06:21):
Oh shit, that sucks for you.
You only have one channel.

SPEAKER_04 (06:24):
I know.
Uh yeah.
Uh God, what was it?
Oh, anyway, veered off the pointof it.
No, no, no.
So we did we did miss our uhepisode release.
Uh apologize to listeners.
Uh it's one thing that we fromthe beginning we really want to
commit to being very consistentabout it.

(06:45):
Uh even in some cases when wedon't have any good content or
anything to talk about.

SPEAKER_01 (06:49):
But yeah, just get something out there.

SPEAKER_04 (06:52):
Yeah.
Uh, but we did miss that one.
And I think I mean we've beengoing here for a couple minutes,
a few minutes on this one withwith our remote setup, and it's
I think it's gonna work, so it'sgood.

SPEAKER_01 (07:05):
Well, that's good.
Well, we can just play the lastone on technical difficulties
called Mark.

SPEAKER_04 (07:11):
Yeah, yeah.
It's only technicaldifficulties.
That's the way it's gonna goanyway.

SPEAKER_02 (07:16):
Yes.

SPEAKER_01 (07:19):
I got broad shoulders.
Go ahead, lay it on me.
Yeah, oh god, I remember lasttime I said that.
Not that, not that.

SPEAKER_04 (07:26):
Oh gosh.
Speaking of storms though, um,we're gonna find out tomorrow
how well you tie down shit atyour place.
Uh, because it's gonna get alittle windy here.

SPEAKER_01 (07:40):
Oh, okay.

SPEAKER_04 (07:41):
Forty to fifty miles an hour.

SPEAKER_01 (07:44):
No shit.
Well, then I'll probably have togo pick it up out of your your
property, your side of the road.

SPEAKER_04 (07:52):
Oh god, that would be my that would be my luck, is
like uh you you fuck it up overthere, and it's like, you know
what?
It's his problem, he left town,oh my god.
And then it I don't have toworry about it, right?
And then the thing can just likepick up fly in the air and just
come crashing down on my house.
I'm like, God dang it.

SPEAKER_01 (08:13):
I you know, I don't really worry about that.
It's it's my uh my vents on thelittle trailer I worry about,
the tote and lid.
Yeah, that's gonna beinteresting.

SPEAKER_04 (08:23):
I will say that um I haven't I haven't been over to
your place since you left, butuh get to utility trailer like
the day after you left.
But yeah, well that except welland I have back over there, but
the other day when we tried torecord and that storm rolled in,
and we just talked about like itwas really fucking windy, so I

(08:46):
did, I thought I would you knowget off my ass and go into my
office and get the drone and flythe drone over and check on your
place.
Uh I appreciate that.
Yeah, specifically your uh yourredneck vent cover things, and
they were there.

SPEAKER_01 (09:03):
So well, they're they're pretty heavy rocks.
It took me a little bit to getthem up there.

SPEAKER_04 (09:08):
I'm pulled those down.
I know exactly how heavy theyare because you stole two of my
big flat rocks.
Well, I cannot confirm nor deny.
I can confirm it.
But that being said, uh the windthat we're gonna get tomorrow is

(09:28):
gonna be a lot worse.
So yeah, I'll I'll check on it.
I'll send the drone over at somepoint.
I appreciate that.
The good news is that there'swell, yeah.
The good news is that uh there'sno rain in the forecast for like
the next week at least.
Um maybe some tomorrow, likeisolated, but so if it does, you

(09:54):
know, if it does blow off orwhatever, I don't think you
gotta worry about rain.
Yeah, that's good.
Yeah, okay.
That's good.
That's good.

SPEAKER_01 (10:02):
Yeah, one of the one of the people up here in the
little town that we used to livein, sober like tootle area, he
emptied his rain gauge onWednesday afternoon about 10
o'clock in the morning.
And as of yesterday, they'd hadsix inches of rain.

SPEAKER_04 (10:17):
Jesus Christ.

SPEAKER_01 (10:19):
Yeah, the everything's flooding.
There was a landslide on uh I-5that blocked all the lanes.
They got two of them back open, just and then stupid ass people
in jacked up trucks goingthrough, you know, water over
roadway, and one of these guysthat unlifted Ford went through
it and it was clear up to hisdoors, and all of a sudden they

(10:41):
were having to do a rescue toget his dumb ass off of his
hood.
Yeah, holy sh you know, stupidpeople doing stupid things.

SPEAKER_04 (10:50):
Yeah, I know.
That's the the annoying thing.
I mean, what what the worst partabout it is just it puts first
responders in danger, they don'tneed to be in.

SPEAKER_01 (11:02):
Exactly.
Um you just take off all thewarning labels and then let you
know let stuff happen.
We'll we'll thin them out.
Sure.

SPEAKER_04 (11:13):
God, I was gonna I was gonna take a dig at you, but
I think it was a little littlelittle below the belt.
So uh what you're holding backfor once.
Alright, so uh yeah, how do youthink you'd fare, buddy, if we
got rid of those warning labelsand shit?
Um, I would be a statistic.

(11:35):
Correct.
At least I can admit it.
It would be just a mark onsomebody's spreadsheet.
Yep.
Shit.
Not even a check mark.
No, just a mark.
Um art.
Uh Jesus Christ.
I was gonna say something.
Warning.
Oh, driving things, yeah.

(11:57):
Um, yeah, no, rain gauge.
The well, no, when I talked toyou the other day, uh you know,
uh you'd asked about the rainbecause it was fixing to come in
right before you left, and I waslike, Yeah, you know, it's like
it's been it's been rainy andshit, but we had only gotten
like an inch, right?
When I talked to you.
Yeah.

(12:17):
Well, that storm that rolled inwhen we tried to record, which
by the way, it was supposed tobe done.
Like there was this whole frontthis whole storm front that
rolled through and supposed tobe done.
Uh although Max, the weather guyon my channel, he said he did
say, he's like, I I'm kind ofI'm kind of concerned this might

(12:39):
be backbuilding, that it couldlike there something behind this
front.
I'm like, what that doesn'thappen.
Whew, that happened.
But that uh it was fuckingcoming down, dude.
And it I mean it only lasted forlike a couple hours, but it was
like almost three inches.
Oh wow, in a couple hours, yeah.
I know, and uh I had to go totown, which was fine because I'm

(13:08):
not an idiot in a big jacked uptruck, I'm just an idiot in a
four-wheel drive truck who knowshow to drive slow.
And what I was fine, it wasfine.

SPEAKER_01 (13:23):
Oh, no water over the roadway or anything?

SPEAKER_04 (13:26):
Uh god damn it.
The fucking burrito run fromhell.
Oh you had to bring that up.
Oh really?
Wait, is that not what you'retalking about?

SPEAKER_01 (13:36):
Yeah, yeah, when when you and Mike went for the
burrito run and you couldn'tmake it to the burritos.

SPEAKER_04 (13:42):
No, we made it.

SPEAKER_01 (13:43):
But oh did Oh, okay.
I thought you didn't make it.

SPEAKER_04 (13:46):
Well, yeah, the main highway was shut down because it
was well, whatever.
That's a whole thing.
I wasn't I wasn't not a happycamper that day.
We we did find an alternateroute to the burrito, thank god.
Uh but oh yeah.
Um no, it was like it was fine.

(14:06):
Like the road was fine.
Like uh I didn't even I I mean Iwon't I got on the road just
pretty much right after itstopped raining.
Didn't need four-wheel driveeven well that's good.
Well thank you.
I think it's good too.
This is quite a show we gotgoing here today.

SPEAKER_01 (14:27):
It is.
Um, so I got a question.

SPEAKER_04 (14:29):
Yeah.

SPEAKER_01 (14:31):
You sent me a video of uh dog the other day.

SPEAKER_04 (14:35):
Anytime anytime anybody in my contacts list
says, so you sent me a video.
I'm like, oh god, what did I exwhat did I do by accident?
Okay, I got I didn't even hearwhat you said because all I
heard you I had just heard thatyou didn't say it was a dick
pic, so I was relieved.
So what do you say?

SPEAKER_01 (14:58):
The dog you sent me a video of the other day.

SPEAKER_04 (15:00):
Yeah, I have uh who was it, Hartley or what?
What are we talking about?

SPEAKER_01 (15:05):
No, the there was a like a little dog behind the
barbecue or whatever.

SPEAKER_04 (15:09):
Oh yeah.
Is that yeah?
So there's a new puppy.
Oh, sorry.
Running a dog rescue here.
Yes, there's a new puppy.
Well, he looked he he didn'tlook that old.

SPEAKER_01 (15:25):
Or he looked pretty old.
Are you I didn't I only got likea five-second video?
Which what which one did youget?
The one where he was behind likethe either the barbecue or the
black stone.
Oh, and then Bailey was tryingto get in the way.

SPEAKER_04 (15:42):
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Um, okay.
So, and then I guess I didn'tactually give you any context,
right?
Or follow up or answer you.
Why even ask?
Oh, well, you know what?
I'm sure you did.
And whatever.
I'm the red-headed step friend.
Yeah.
I'm not good at texting.

(16:03):
You know this.
I know.
Although my mom t tells me that, and I got I got a good story
about that, where it was like inyour face.
Uh, to my mom, but hold on.
I'm gonna send you a video, uh,another one.
You thought this you thoughtthis was a big dog, okay?
Is that what you're saying?

SPEAKER_01 (16:22):
Well, I didn't think it was a big dog, but it looked
like it was an older dog.
Oh I couldn't tell because hewas kind of stuck in the back
there, like, leave me alone.

SPEAKER_04 (16:32):
Yeah, okay.
I mean, I I get what you'regetting at.
Um, yes, you were like reallynot up to speed.
Alright.
Um, I'm gonna send you thisvideo.
Which you're gonna watch on yourphone.

SPEAKER_01 (16:48):
I actually already have my phone in my hand waiting
for it.
Uh I mean, okay.

SPEAKER_04 (16:55):
So many when you s when you when you do a setup,
when you when you do such a goodsetup like that, it's like so
many jokes, like they allcollide in my brain and they
explode into a vapor.
Like, so I'm just like, oh god, that one was so good.
And so it's it's coming, youknow, it's gonna work its way

(17:16):
through the laser beams intospace.
And then I don't know, do youhave Starlink where you're at
right now, too?

SPEAKER_01 (17:23):
Uh no, uh Josh, our oldest son has uh I think it's
Xfinity.

SPEAKER_04 (17:28):
Okay, so it's gonna be the getting from here to the
barn to space.
That's the thing that's gonnatake a second.
So uh anyhoot, yeah.
Oh well we're not gonna sit hereand not talk or anything, but
I'll uh we'll wait until you seethe video until we resume the

(17:49):
previous subject of this dog.
This new dog, the new puppy.
It's got a name yet?
Yes.

SPEAKER_01 (17:58):
I mean yes.
What is it?
Anything good or anything we cansay on air?

SPEAKER_04 (18:06):
Yeah, well, uh I feel like you need to see the
video before we really get intoit, because like we're not on
the same page about what's goingon right now.
Umce you get it, you'll see thatit's not an older dog.

(18:26):
Oh my god.
Why don't you explain the videowhile you're watching it or
whatever?

SPEAKER_01 (18:30):
Well, so far it it hasn't really opened a video
video, but I got a picture ofHartley with this little bitty
puppy.
Yes.
He's got the German Shepherdlook.

SPEAKER_04 (18:42):
You think so?

SPEAKER_01 (18:43):
Well, the the brown on the paws and stuff.
Come on, video fucking load.

SPEAKER_04 (18:50):
Man, you are so good at technology.
I'm old.
But they've dumbed it all downfor you.
It's like it's a it's an iPhone.

SPEAKER_01 (19:07):
Well yeah, but it for some stupid F and reason it
doesn't hold.

unknown (19:12):
God damn.

SPEAKER_01 (19:13):
I hate the iPhone.
I might go back to Android.
You can't handle the Androidbud.
Dude, last time I tried to turnon an Android phone, it took me
two hours to frickin' shut theshit off.

SPEAKER_04 (19:30):
Last time you tried.
Let's let me let me walk throughthat sentence.
It was a few weeks ago.
Hold on, let me walk throughthat sentence.
Last you said last time I triedto turn on an Android phone, it
took me two hours to get itturned off.
What the fuck does that mean?

SPEAKER_01 (19:43):
I couldn't find the power button.
That's what that means.
I couldn't figure out how how toslide to whatever direction to
turn the damn thing off.

SPEAKER_04 (19:53):
Okay, so but you said you couldn't figure out how
to turn it on, and it took youtwo hours to figure out how to
turn it.
Okay, never mind.
So you were trying to turn itoff.
Yes.
Okay.
Thanks.

SPEAKER_01 (20:05):
Yes.
And even though I switch it tofrickin' Wi-Fi, it goes back to
frickin' LTE.

unknown (20:16):
Okay.

SPEAKER_01 (20:17):
Oh, excuse me.
I know.
Oh my gosh.
Why am I hearing that?
Oh, there it is.
Okay.
Oh my god, he is so cute.
He is so cute.
Hartley's like, what the hell?
I'm supposed to be the youngestand littlest one.
Mm-hmm.

(20:38):
Oh my goodness.
You know, people have figuredout that you have a dog rescue,
and so now they're just droppingoff dogs.

SPEAKER_04 (20:44):
I'm telling.

unknown (20:45):
Oh my god, look at it.

SPEAKER_04 (20:46):
I mean, something like that, or like my dogs are
out putting signs on the highwayor something.

SPEAKER_01 (20:53):
Lucky.
Lucky's got that look.
Get the fuck away from me.
Oh my goodness.
Okay, I watched the video.

SPEAKER_04 (21:06):
So would you not would you describe it as uh uh a
teeny tiny itty bitty very youngpuppy?

SPEAKER_01 (21:16):
Yes, I would.
I would say he was probablybarely eight weeks old.

SPEAKER_04 (21:21):
I was yeah, I was thinking like eight to ten,
probably.
Um yeah, yeah, uh so 20 minuteslater.
Back to your question.
Uh you want yeah, got a newpuppy.
Yeah.
Um it's a puppy.
And what what did you say?
You think so now you've seen avideo.

(21:42):
Do you think he's GermanShepherd still, or what are you
thinking?

SPEAKER_01 (21:45):
I still think he's got part German Shepherd in the
world.
Oh yellow, I you're gettingtesty.
If I yell you'd know it.
That takes me back.
Oh my gosh.
I'm watching that video again.
Yep, I think he's got someGerman Shepherd in him.

unknown (22:03):
Yeah.

SPEAKER_01 (22:03):
But the longer the longer body though.

SPEAKER_04 (22:06):
It's not you think he has a long body?

SPEAKER_01 (22:09):
Well, just I mean, I don't know what do you know.
Oh my gosh, he's so cute.

SPEAKER_04 (22:15):
Are we talking about the puppy still?

SPEAKER_01 (22:17):
Or long body?
For podcast sake, yes, we'restill talking about the puppy.

SPEAKER_04 (22:26):
No, so here and my here's my thing though.
If you Hartley has a long body.
Like Hartley is a long dog.
He's very like, you know, lankyand stuff.
This dog puppy, he feels morelike he just looks, you know,
not as long.

(22:47):
Girthy.
But I mean, he obviously he'snot as long as Hartley because
he's a puppy, but I'm sayingrelatively speaking.
Right.
But no, I just sent you anotherone.
And bear in mind you're still ona podcast.

SPEAKER_01 (23:04):
Yeah.
Oh, thank God it's not a dickpig.

SPEAKER_04 (23:12):
Have I ever accidentally sent you anything
like that?

SPEAKER_01 (23:15):
No, you haven't, thank goodness.

SPEAKER_04 (23:16):
Statistically, it's incredible.

SPEAKER_01 (23:18):
I would start sending you pussy picks.
You start sending me a dick pig.

unknown (23:22):
Oh god.

SPEAKER_04 (23:28):
Yeah.
I would I would probably throwmy phone like just reflexively
like so.
Yeah, in this other video, youget I think you get a much
better like look at him.
Um at least his markings andstuff, right?

SPEAKER_01 (23:48):
Yeah, yeah, I do.

SPEAKER_04 (23:49):
Yeah.
I don't I mean, I don't know theGerman Shepherd thing, because I
feel like Hartley's I feel likeHartley is like his snout shape
and all that stuff is more inline with what I would expect
for German Shepherd, butwhatever.
Right.
Like this puppy, like justcoloring and stuff.
First thing occurred to me wasRottweiler, but I don't think I

(24:10):
know anything about Rottweilers,so that may be not true.

SPEAKER_01 (24:15):
Yeah, well those markings on his chest when he's
looking at you, that is cool ashell.

SPEAKER_04 (24:19):
Isn't it crazy?
It's weird, right?
It's like uh he's got like a plulike uh like a strip, like a
plus sign, a big plus sign, likea white stripe down his chest
and tummy, and then it goesacross his shoulders, but then
inside that there's anotherlittle plus, like a black one.
It's weird.
I've never seen it just likethat.

SPEAKER_01 (24:38):
I never have either.
Well, I guess when you take himto the vet, we'll figure out
what the hell he is.

SPEAKER_02 (24:43):
Yeah, okay.

SPEAKER_01 (24:45):
Great.
Or or we can start getting DNAtests for the dogs to figure out
what the hell they are.

SPEAKER_04 (24:51):
Yeah, that's a great fucking idea.
Also, let's see here.
Um carry the three.
Yeah, no, I'm beyond broke now.
Thanks.
Yeah, no, you do two beyondbroke.
Okay, I like how you said that.
You just like, yeah, what areyou taking the vet?
And I'm just like, oh god.
I mean, of course I'd thought ofit, but I'm just like, fuck.

(25:12):
There's another$85 down thepooper.

SPEAKER_01 (25:18):
Um, that's not bad, because up here it's like$600 to
get your damn dog neutered.

SPEAKER_04 (25:22):
I well, yeah, I know.
No, I mean, I was just talkingfor the exam and the puppy shots
and and the neuter.
Well, something's an I don'tfucking remember, but point
being it's another fuckinggoddamn, I'm not doing this dog
rest.
I'm not selling it very well.
Point being, it's another puppy, and I could not be more excited

(25:46):
about it.
And you know, they say life'snot all puppies and rainbows,
but I can tell you what, it ismostly puppies and rainbows.
I can't even keep it up.
I almost made myself gag.
Oh, yeah, it's another fuckingdog.
And Mark's gone.

SPEAKER_02 (26:07):
Great.

SPEAKER_01 (26:14):
Now he's connected.
Yeah.
Okay, there you are.

SPEAKER_04 (26:19):
Who are you talking to?

SPEAKER_01 (26:20):
I was just talking to myself.
I didn't want any dead air.
You know, there's a wholeshitload between my ears, but
other than that.

SPEAKER_04 (26:27):
It's gonna be really interesting to see what.

SPEAKER_01 (26:30):
Are you gone again?

SPEAKER_04 (26:31):
No, I'm right here.
Oh, I'm right here.

SPEAKER_01 (26:35):
Oh hey, how you doing?

SPEAKER_04 (26:37):
Um I didn't disconnect.
Um Is that what it said?

SPEAKER_01 (26:44):
It it said that you were connected, but you're left.

SPEAKER_04 (26:48):
Oh, well.

SPEAKER_01 (26:50):
I was still available.

SPEAKER_04 (26:51):
Uh that's what it's agree to disagree.
It said the same thing overhere.
Okay.
That you you know, whatever.
Alright.
So what was the last thing youheard me say?

SPEAKER_01 (27:08):
Don't put baby in a corner.

SPEAKER_04 (27:12):
We never talked about uh if we have veto power
over certain things, but I'mgetting damn close to where
we're gonna have to have a boardmeeting about because the baby
in the corner thing.
And I'm telling you what, Ithink you're doing it to

(27:33):
yourself because I think you'reI think you're doing yourself a
disservice.
I think you're overusing it.
It's not gonna be funny anymore.
It was funny.

SPEAKER_01 (27:45):
Well, let's put a vote thing on on our social
medias and see whether I'moverusing it or not, or whether
I'm just using it to fuck withyou.
Okay.
Let's do that.

SPEAKER_04 (27:58):
I let's we're we're you know what?
We're gonna do it in realfucking time.
How do I do that, Mark?

SPEAKER_01 (28:06):
Not in real time because this one hasn't been
posted yet.
I know.

SPEAKER_04 (28:10):
Uh well no, I'm gonna say we're gonna make we're
gonna make the question in realtime, right?
So what's the is it a poll?
Yeah, it's a poll, right?
Yeah, poll.
Poll.
Delicious.
Alright, so what is what's thewhat's the poll question?

SPEAKER_01 (28:25):
Is Mark using do not put baby in the corner or nobody
puts baby in the corner?
Too much.
Short and sweet, so my type ofpeople can understand it.

SPEAKER_04 (28:38):
Is it the corner or and corner?

SPEAKER_01 (28:42):
Nobody puts baby in the corner, I believe.
Yeah, in the corner.

SPEAKER_04 (28:49):
And the options are yes and no.
Oh, alright.
We can include that too.
Simple questions.
I was just gonna I'm just gonnahave the only option be yes.
Uh-huh.

SPEAKER_01 (29:07):
I think we were talking about the puppy and you
were talking about the vet andstuff like that.

SPEAKER_04 (29:11):
Oh, yeah.
Well, just you know, it'sanother uh money things, dogs, I
don't know.

SPEAKER_01 (29:20):
Yeah.
But so what's uh what's thename?

SPEAKER_04 (29:24):
His name is Buckley.

SPEAKER_01 (29:28):
Oh, okay.

SPEAKER_04 (29:30):
God damn.
Jesus, why do you hate his nameso much?

SPEAKER_01 (29:36):
I don't hate his name.
I Buckley's a good name.

SPEAKER_04 (29:39):
Oh my god.
You hate that's a strong Irishname.
Oh god.
Do you need a shovel there, bud?

SPEAKER_01 (29:49):
Uh, yeah, it'd probably help.

SPEAKER_04 (29:51):
Did you hear your reaction?
I said his name's Buckley.
You're like, oh, okay.

unknown (29:55):
Yeah.

SPEAKER_01 (29:58):
That's a cool name.

SPEAKER_04 (29:59):
It's not bad.
It's not the best work I've everdone, but oh god.

SPEAKER_01 (30:06):
Jesus Christ.
I'm not even there and you'reinterpreting shit the wrong way.

SPEAKER_04 (30:12):
Okay, let's all right.
Buckley.
Gun to the head.
Hold on.
What is it?
Gun to the head.
Zero to ten.
Okay.
Okay.
Honestly, how do you how how mywhat how do you feel about that
name?

SPEAKER_01 (30:26):
I give it a solid eight.

SPEAKER_04 (30:29):
I think you're lying.

SPEAKER_02 (30:31):
But okay.

SPEAKER_04 (30:33):
Okay.
I'm accepting it.
Nope.
I'm accepting that you're fine.
Okay.
So Buckley.
Little Buckley.

SPEAKER_01 (30:40):
Little Buckley.

SPEAKER_04 (30:41):
Yeah.
He was uh it's actually thefastest I've ever named my
ducks.
Well, except for Milo, he wasMilo as soon as I met him.
Um but yeah, because uh and bythe way, this whole fucking like
you said you said earlier beforewe got on that it's been a long
day.
Yeah, I don't even know whatfucking day it is, which I know

(31:03):
that's not that unusual for me.
But right, like he long storyshort, like I was having I was
not up all night, but I was uppretty late.
It was like five in the morning, and I'm like, you know, I'm
gonna pack it in.
And I was down the fire pit, soI'm like, I'm gonna go to bed.
Start walking back to the house.
I'm like, hey Hartley, come on,go get in your crib.

(31:24):
What are you playing with?
What's going on?
Oh what a puppy.
And so, you know, it just set upset everything in motion, you
know, because then you gottaokay, what are we gonna do for
the crate?
But you know, whole thing.
So I just ended up ended upbeing an all-nighter and kind of
an all-dayer.
So I've been all kind of out ofwhack since then.

(31:46):
But um, yeah, he uh anyway, theI think it was that very
morning, just a few hours afterhe got in here, I'd sent the
videos to to Rob, and he waslike he was like, you should
name him Buckwheat.
I said that's I was like, that'sactually cute.

(32:08):
I said, um maybe not superappropriate though.
Um well no.
What I actually said was um howabout we like uh we'll split the
difference and we'll call himBucky.
He's like Bucky, yeah, that's acool name, Bucky.
Uh and so we decided to name himBucky.

(32:31):
And at some point I forgot that.
Let's start calling him Buckley.
So he's Buckley.
He's Buckley.

SPEAKER_01 (32:40):
Yeah.
Buckley Bucky.

SPEAKER_04 (32:44):
Bucky.
I mean Bucky's a cool name.

SPEAKER_01 (32:47):
Yeah, it is.
Yeah, yeah, that would have beena solid nine.
Thanks.
I mean, I'm here for you, buddy.

SPEAKER_04 (32:58):
I'm here for you.
Yeah, and then uh well, what doyou think about uh buckwheat?
Where where would you rate that?

SPEAKER_01 (33:05):
Buckwheat?
Yeah.
Um I would probably give that agood ten.
Okay.
I mean because I remember thelittle rascals when they were
black and in black and white, and then you had Eddie Murphy
that did buckwheat on uh SNLmany, many years ago.
So it's funny.
It's funny to me, but I humor myhumor is not everybody else's

(33:29):
humor.

SPEAKER_04 (33:30):
I know.

SPEAKER_01 (33:32):
No shit.
Especially yours sometimes.

SPEAKER_04 (33:40):
Yeah, I'm glad I don't know.
I'm glad I was worried wherethat was gonna go there for a
second because you're like, youknow, back in the day, um
bugwheat, the black, and thenyou're like black and white.
I'm like, oh thank god it wasjust black.
I don't know.
He said black and white, but youthere's a little pause there,
and I'm like, oh god, is thisthe day that we get canceled?

SPEAKER_00 (34:03):
Yeah, we've missed an episode and we're gonna get
canceled, son of a bitch.

SPEAKER_04 (34:09):
Yeah, we'll just fucking burn the place down on
the way out.
Oh shit, yeah, so it's a littlebuckly.
Um and yeah, I think you did saywhen I say in the video, like,
you know, you're like, I need tostop leaving because that's
every time I leave another dogshows up.

(34:31):
And uh yeah, you're correct.
So I don't know if it's that, ifit's you leaving, but if it is,
then you're never leaving again.

SPEAKER_01 (34:41):
Okay.
Okay, I won't leave again for alittle while.

SPEAKER_04 (34:48):
Just I'm like the worst dog rescuer ever, right?
I'm like the worst dog rescuer.
I'm just like, oh god, anotherdog for the dog sanctuary.

SPEAKER_01 (35:00):
Uh yeah, you're a dog sanctuary.
They like when your mom was upand and we had her on, they this
is where they get to spend therest of their life being loved
and enjoyed and everything elselike that.
You're not like a dog rescuethat says, Oh shit, now I gotta
find them another home.
You're like, oh shit, this one'sa puppy.
I've got 14 years.
Yeah, I know.

(35:20):
Exactly.

SPEAKER_02 (35:21):
Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_04 (35:24):
It's like, I mean, hey man, I I I left my career
and I spent a good chunk of mymoney to buy the ranch and do
this to have a dog sanctuary, and that's the thing.
And every time I get into thedog, I'm like, oh fuck.

SPEAKER_02 (35:41):
Really?

SPEAKER_04 (35:44):
Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01 (35:45):
But I mean all the dogs are healthy and happy, and
they the funny thing to me isthey all get along.
Oh, yeah there's no issues, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_04 (35:55):
Never has been.
They're such a they're such agood pack.

SPEAKER_01 (35:59):
Yeah.

SPEAKER_04 (36:00):
Yeah.
And and you know, it's likethat's one that's one really
cool thing.
It's been cool to watch umevolve.
Is it uh you know, we had whenwe moved here, we had four dogs,
uh Oakley Milo, Finley, and thenmy ex's dog, uh Evie.

(36:20):
But I mean we lived in the city,we had these four dogs, and so
the first dogs that we rescuedwhen we got here were Lola and
Bailey.
And I mean they were and youknow, kind of like Kismen, I
think, maybe thinking back onit, because they were s they
were legit sisters, same litter.
Um they're about two years old.
And because they were sisters, Imean they got along great and

(36:45):
they kind of set the tone, Ithink, around here.
And then Callie was the next onewe rescued, and and so what I'm
getting at is like they come inthey come into a pack that's not
gonna put up with any shit.
I mean, it's like we're gonnawe're gonna be friends or we're
gonna look out for each other,we're gonna be, you know, we're

(37:08):
gonna be cool.
And so there's never been anissue with any of them.
And I I and I think that's youknow, I think it's the dog, but
then also the environment,right?
It works both ways, and I thinkcoming into this environment uh
with this pack, like they feelsafe, they feel um at peace,

(37:32):
they feel secure, and uh, Ithink that just you know, they
when they get here, they'relike, Yep, uh, it's home.

SPEAKER_01 (37:42):
Oh, yeah, definitely.
It's home.

SPEAKER_04 (37:44):
Yep.
It's kind of like when you gohere.
I agree with that.

unknown (37:50):
No.

SPEAKER_04 (37:53):
No, I mean, I'm glad you said it.
I'm glad I I appreciate yousaying that too.
I take it, I take it as acompliment.

SPEAKER_01 (38:02):
Um and that's what it's meant as a compliment.

SPEAKER_04 (38:05):
Thank you.
Yeah, and you know, my thing,it's like it's a lot of work.
Like, you know, it's a lot ofwork and it's a lot of cost, and
it's a lot of emotional energy, physical energy, mental, all
this stuff.
And so it's like my brain, because well, I think this is
not so much ADD thing, probablymore of the autistic thing.

(38:27):
So like my brain typically whensomething happens unexpected, my
brain goes to logic first, andthen emotion, right?
Which is great for being good ina firefight, right?
Like dog gets hit by a car, doggets attacked, whatever, and you
just need to handle it.

(38:48):
It's great for that.
But uh but then the other sideof it is like whereas most
people would see this poorlittle crying puppy, like, oh my
god.
I'm just like, oh god, really?
Did you have a fucking crate, Iguess?
No.

(39:09):
And you're gone.
Where's the fucking mark button?
There it is.
Okay, you're back.

SPEAKER_01 (39:26):
Can you hear me?

SPEAKER_04 (39:27):
Yeah.

SPEAKER_01 (39:31):
Okay, we're back.

SPEAKER_04 (39:33):
Yeah, all right.
Um, yeah, we need we need alittle bit more, so.
Um Okay.

SPEAKER_01 (39:40):
I don't know how much we had in.

SPEAKER_04 (39:42):
Not enough.
There we go.

SPEAKER_01 (39:46):
Just a tip.

SPEAKER_04 (39:48):
Mm-hmm.
Okay, now we're recording again.
Uh-huh.
Um where we left off.
Where did I stop?

SPEAKER_01 (39:56):
We're talking about the ranch and and the dogs
having such a great home.
Yeah.
Uh with another added bodyfour-legged furry friend there.

SPEAKER_02 (40:10):
Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_04 (40:12):
So oh boy.
No.
Oh, yeah, I mean, it's great.
You know what, uh, you know, I'mI'm good.
Uh every i uh y you it was alittle different, I think, when
Harley came, because you guyspretty much like you guys uh

(40:37):
came like a few days later, likemoved here.
Yes.
And so like it Harley basicallycame when you guys came.
Um and so it was a littledifferent, but and so that's
something I don't think youmaybe know, maybe you've talked
about, I don't know, but youjust you haven't seen, is every
time I bring in a rescue, Ikinda go through a little funk.

(41:00):
Cause yeah, I'm happy about it,it warms my heart, but it really
it's I I go through a littlething where I'm like, I can't
handle you know, it's too much, but you know what I'm saying?
Right, right.
And you know, it does suck.
And so I don't want to get intothat whole thing right now, uh,
especially since we're towardthe end of the show.

(41:22):
But anywho, it's really cool.
Like, you know, God bless littleBuckley.
I'm glad I'm glad he found ahome here.
He will be happy and just livinghis best life.
Yes, he will.
Um, before we well, just tochange subjects for no reason at

(41:42):
all.
Sure.
Except I want to.
I started watching Finy Nemo.

SPEAKER_01 (41:48):
Yeah, you sent me a thing that said that with the
commentary on it.
How are you doing with it?

SPEAKER_04 (41:53):
Uh I haven't gotten any further than I think I was
about halfway.
Um so did you listen to thataudio?
Yes, I did.
Do you do you think that that Itwas almost like it was forced?

SPEAKER_01 (42:10):
The watching?
Yeah.
It was.

SPEAKER_04 (42:15):
At least on do you think do you think uh that parts
of it or something, that audioor portion of it would we should
play on on the thing.
Or when I finish the movie, Ithink we should incorporate some
of that.

SPEAKER_01 (42:29):
Oh, I think it'd be great.
I think everybody would get ablast uh kick out of it.

SPEAKER_04 (42:34):
Yeah, so I'm trudging my way through Cindy.
I'm fucking on.
Yeah.

SPEAKER_01 (42:41):
Well, and as a matter of fact, we're going up
there, I believe, either Mondayor Tuesday.
We're headed up to Dino andCindy's house.

SPEAKER_04 (42:47):
So great.
You can play her that you canplay her that clip.
I'm sure she'll appreciate it.

SPEAKER_01 (42:52):
Oh yeah, he she will.
She will.
Yeah.

SPEAKER_04 (42:56):
Well, uh, yeah, I guess stay tuned next time,
folks.
See how we how we like findingNemo.

SPEAKER_01 (43:03):
Or if you got through finding Nemo.

SPEAKER_04 (43:05):
I will get through it.
Um I have a question thoughabout the movies, I guess.
Is there like a thing where youcan set them to go like two two
speed?
Like you can on audio.

SPEAKER_01 (43:19):
You know, on some some streaming services you can
set them to go at a fasterspeed, but I don't know what are
you watching it on Disney orYeah.
I don't know if there is or not.
Okay.
I will ask my grandkids.

SPEAKER_04 (43:32):
No, it's it was mostly a joke because I'm
committed to it, you know.
I'm gonna do it.
Um I am doing it, I'm doing itright.
Um I'm not gonna cheat.
Uh oh, and by the way, I don'tknow if you noticed in the
background what sounded a littlebit like porn music, you know,

(43:54):
from the set like burn darm.
Did you notice that?
Yeah.
Uh

SPEAKER_01 (44:00):
I didn't want to say anything.

SPEAKER_04 (44:01):
Well, I don't believe you.
I think you were just saving it.
But No, I was gonna do I wasgonna tell you what it actually
was is uh I had in order to hearthe movie, uh, you know, I had
to have it up loud enough towhere it was getting picked up a
a little bit on themicrophone. 'Cause I was using a

(44:23):
lapel mic, but I was stillpicking up.
And like I was I was worried ifwe were gonna use the audio or
at any point on the podcast, like I didn't want it to get
copyright knocked down, youknow.
Because they do they do that.
You know, they do that like Yes,they monetize you.
Well no, I wish they'd monetizeme.

(44:45):
No, their AI thing spins throughall the audio and looks for
stuff like that.
And so I went Yeah, so if theyhear like if we were to play um
you know, like the Beyoncehalftime Super Bowl show on
this, they would they'd andthey'd know it and they knock it
down the video down or whatever.

(45:06):
Um so anyhoot I went and I wentand found like a really long
like uh jazz, you know, licensefree, royalty-free music.
And it's just I have it as abacktrack really low level just
to wash out uh the movie sound.

(45:28):
That's why it sounds like porn.

SPEAKER_01 (45:31):
Okay.
Well, I'm glad to know now.

SPEAKER_04 (45:33):
Yeah.

SPEAKER_01 (45:34):
Uh I I sure hope you weren't watching porn while
watching Nemo.

SPEAKER_04 (45:38):
Well, you know what?
Here's what I'll say about it isI would hope that you would hope
that I would have better tastein porn so as to not watch porn
that had porny music.

SPEAKER_01 (45:49):
Yeah, the the 70s boom chicka bow.

SPEAKER_04 (45:52):
Yes, exactly.
And on that note of aspiring tobetter porn.
Uh this is the end of the show, bud.
Already?
Yeah, already.
Uh that one was forced becauseit's this has been usually
because I mean we shoot for 40minutes and our recordings take

(46:14):
usually 40 minutes.
Uh it takes as long as the showis.
This is been like two and a halfhours, right?

SPEAKER_01 (46:23):
Yeah, with the tech technical difficulties and
trying to get everything.
I'm glad you found this new uhclean feed.
It it works pretty good.
I mean it it's dropped a coupletimes, but other than that, it
it's a hell of a lot easier forme to use.

SPEAKER_04 (46:36):
Yeah, I mean it's um yeah, and I wondered I I'm not
sure what the dropping is about.
It's it could be you know, itcould be some something on my
end, but yeah, clean feed, uhclean feed TM.
Uh yeah, if the if you're alllistening over there at the
clean feed HQ.
You want to sponsor us, yeah.

(46:56):
That's that'd be fine.
Just or just send me a send us abag of puppy food with a clean
feed sticker on it.
I talk about you for a wholeepisode, clean feed.

SPEAKER_01 (47:06):
Yeah.
Clean feed.
Clean feed.

SPEAKER_04 (47:11):
Yeah.
Uh now people probably thinkingthat we're doing it, like we're
actually plugging it.
No, no, no.
It it is this is the first timeI've ever used it.
I I had heard um I have a sh uha show that I listen to that um
they do a daily uh live show andthey've just mentioned I've just
heard them mention clean feed.

(47:32):
I don't like that.
If they're using it for a liveradio production show, like it's
probably good.
So we gave it a shot and it'llit's nice.

SPEAKER_01 (47:41):
Yeah, it is very nice.
I I like it.
I'll let I'll let them know.
Yeah, yeah.
Would you would you do that forme, please?

SPEAKER_04 (47:50):
We'll put a review and then the comments will just
be Mark likes it.

SPEAKER_01 (47:54):
Yeah, Mark likes it.
Like Mikey.

SPEAKER_04 (47:57):
He Mikey.

SPEAKER_01 (47:59):
He likes it.
He likes it.
What?
All the old life commercial fromuh.

SPEAKER_04 (48:04):

can't with one of these rightnow.
Okay, bud.
All right, well, yeah, wellwe're gonna call it a show.
