Finding Nemo has been fully watched, including the turtle scene this time. RJ returns with an official updated review — same five categories, same seven-duckie scale — and the scores have moved. Some significantly. Meanwhile, a Mother's Day gift spent six days in the Dallas regional facility before anyone told it to leave, RJ walks through the entire tracking history in real time, and somehow it's riveting. Then: Mark's six to eight carousels of 35mm slides from his Seattle photography days, why old film has a shelf life that nobody thinks about until it's too late, and what it actually takes to digitize 25 reels of eight millimeter home movies from 1956. Chimp Crazy has also finally been watched. There are no words. Watch it.

In this episode:
• Finding Nemo review number two: updated scores across all five categories now that the turtle scene has been seen
• Why the turtle scene bumped the story/plot score from one duckie to three — and why RJ is now selling it harder than Mark did
• Andrew Stanton: director, voice of Crush, and the thing RJ looked up that he didn't expect
• Final score: 26 out of 35 duckies. Mark's still at 29. The gap has narrowed.
• The Mother's Day package: Palestine TX post office, priority mail, and six days of going in circles in Dallas
• A step-by-step walkthrough of the USPS tracking history that has absolutely no business being as compelling as it is
• Chimp Crazy: Mark and Christina have watched it. Jaw on the floor, multiple times, per episode. It's on HBO Max. Four episodes. Watch it.
• Kesha's Joyride: a banger attached to a music video that has no business being attached to it
• Mark's Seattle photography era — waterfalls, Gasworks Park, slide film, and six to eight carousels nobody has looked at in decades
• Digitizing 25 reels of eight millimeter home film from 1956: the machine that worked, the DVD process that didn't, and the truck that saved the day
• What happens to old film if nobody does anything about it — and why now is always the right time

Speaker 2 (00:07):
Hey everybody, welcome
to Set &Centered, I'm RJ A.
And I'm Mark.
How's it going?
Good.
How are you doing tonight?
Not so bad.
That's good.

Speaker 1 (00:15):
Yes.
Yeah, not so bad.
Um it was a little warm today, but yeah.
I think we should leave itthere.
Sometimes we're just like, soit's still hot, still warm.
No.
Something I uh I wanted towell, back to finding Nemo.
It's like can't escape it.

(00:35):
But I did want to say, I kindof feel bad about this.
We were trying to figure outbefore like what where it came
from, like, right?
The whole we know where dirtydancing came from, but finding
Nemo, right?
Yep.
What if I would feel badbecause it was Cindy?
It was a comment she made.
Remember?
That was two months ago, yeah.
Um, and I don't remember Idon't know what we were talking

(00:59):
about.
It was the episode DirtyDancing Roadhouse Raptors, one
of RJ's personal favorites.
Uh also an exercise ininsanity.
Definitely.
Yeah, well, for me, yeah, youwere just uh ratting.
You're just there for the rad,but always always there for the
ride.
Yeah.
Anyhoot, her comment was uhnext episode finding Nemo or

(01:20):
Dirty Dancing review by RJ.
Yeah.
Oh my she said or.
Oh my god, I could have got outof this whole thing.
What was the fighting Nemo orDirty Dancing?

Speaker 3 (01:32):
Oh damn it.
Shit, you set yourself up onthat one.
Assigned both of them.

Speaker 1 (01:37):
Whatever.
All right, but yeah, sorry,Cindy.
It was your idea.
Thanks for the idea.
But no, that's where it camefrom.
Although there was somethingthere had to have been something
in that episode, Dirty DancingRoadhouse Rat.
Oh, fucking seagulls.
Never mind.
Yeah, I just remembered.

Speaker 3 (01:57):
All right.
So it it is the next episode.
Did you uh watch the four thefour minutes with crush or not?
Uh yeah, well, yeah, uh ofcourse I did, Mark.

Speaker 1 (02:08):
I actually I need to tinkle.
It's gonna take about four tosix minutes.

Speaker 3 (02:10):
Four to six minutes at the 50 minute mark.
No, I seriously though, I didthough.
I watched it.
Cool.
I said I was gonna do it and Idid it.
Awesome.
Yep.
Did it did it improve the moviefor you?
Uh it did.
Okay.
Yeah.
Okay.

Speaker 1 (02:25):
That's all that matters.

unknown (02:28):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (02:28):
Um, yeah, it did.
Uh so and you uh you asked notonly that I watched it, but that
I gave another an updatedreview of the movie.
Okay.
Yeah.
Having watched it.
So here.
Got my form filled out.
Um this is this is set andcenter movie review, finding
Nemo, parentheses, review numbertwo.

(02:50):
All right, here's the review.
Uh was released in 2000.
Sorry, back up.
Try to be professional.
All right, so we're reviewingFinding Nemo, released in 2003,
directed by Andrew Stanton, starring Al Brooks and Ellen.
Uh runtime of one hour and 40minutes.
And basically, uh the plot isthey couldn't find Nemo, except

(03:13):
they did, and I'm not gonna dothat again.
Alright, so anyway.
Uh now let's we gotta recap therating system.
So the rating system that Icame up with, uh keep things
consistent, again, professional.
I am a comma I am.
Uh so the movie's rated on inon five elements.
First is story slash plot, second is acting, third is

(03:35):
visual slash animation, third ispace, fourth is pacing, and
fifth is rewatch value.
Those all get added up uh for atotal score.
Each one is rated on a scale ofone to seven because I'm me.
Yeah, I have good reasons forthat.
Five is too constraining, tenis excessive.
Alright, and I guess it shouldbe noted that when I made the

(03:58):
movie review form, I couldn'tfind the clip art for the stars.
So it's not one out of sevenstars, it's one out of seven
duckies.
So see how many duckies it got.
Alright, so and then to recap,I guess if people hadn't heard
the previous episode, um Iwatched Finding Nemo
inadvertently and for reasonsthat I don't fully understand, I

(04:19):
missed a whole section of it.
And according to Mark, the mostimportant part of the movie.
Yes, very much so.
Okay.
Which was the part where wecrushed this turtle and his
little turtle kid, shut up.
Yep.
So let me give you my reviewscore and I'll talk a little bit
about it.
So story slash plot.
Are you ready for this?
Yeah, I'm ready.
Do you want me to recap myprevious scores first?

(04:40):
No, we're good.
We're good.
Story plot, three duckies outof seven duckies.
Okay.
Do you remember what I rated itbefore?

Speaker 3 (04:48):
It was it was like a five, wasn't it?

Speaker 1 (04:50):
Don't you think it'd be useful to recap my previous?

Speaker 3 (04:52):
Okay, Jesus Christ.
Come on, Ryan.
Take over the show.
Tell us what you got.

Speaker 1 (04:57):
Take over the oh, I'll fight about that later.
Um, okay, so my previous scoreof finding Nemo was one out of
seven duckies for the storyslash plot.

Speaker 2 (05:11):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (05:12):
So that section with the turtles bumped it up to a
three.
Oh, damn.
Yeah, right?
Yeah.
And I'll tell you, well, I'lltalk a little bit about why in a
minute.
Acting, still five out of sevenduckies.
It's a good score.
Everybody was good.
Yep.
Mostly.
No, they were good at Ellen.
I'm not getting it again.
All right.
Visuals and animation.
This one's gonna actuallysurprise you.

(05:32):
So I previously rated it threeout of seven duckies.
You wouldn't think this wouldchange, but I actually got I
bumped it up to a four.
Oh, damn.
Yeah.
Uh not that the quality of itwas better per se with that
sequence, but the whole I don'tknow, scene, color scheme,
whatever.

Speaker 4 (05:48):
Mm-hmm.

Speaker 1 (05:49):
Like that whole part of it with the colors of the
turtles and stuff was like sortof different from the rest of
the movie.
It was like, you know what I'msaying?
Right.
It was nice.
It was really nice.
Pacing, um, seven out of sevenduckies, same as I gave it last
time, moved right along.
Yep.
Rewatch value.
Uh previously I said one out ofseven duckies.
This time I'm saying two.

(06:09):
Oh, damn.
So final score.
This is the this is theofficial after having the full
movie watched review if I Nemo26 out of 35 duckies.
Damn, I think wasn't mine lasttime 27.
Nope, yours was 29 out of 35duckies.
Okay.
Yeah.
But to your point, uh uh, itmade a big difference and pretty
close to yours.
Yeah.

(06:30):
Um best part of the movie.
Yeah.
You know what?
You were you weren't wrong.
And when you said that, I'mlike, okay.
Probably like some stupid jokeor whatever.
Like he like, and I don't knowwhy you say it was the best part
of the movie, but I'll tell youa couple things about it.
Um, first of all, uh, do youknow who who voiced Crush?

(06:53):
No, I don't.
Andrew Stanton.
Okay.
Do you know who he is?
Uh not not no.
So if you go back to thebeginning of this review that I
started, directed by he's adirector, actually, and he
voiced crush.

Speaker 3 (07:08):
Oh shit, that's cool.

Speaker 1 (07:09):
Yeah.
And I looked into it.
He's like done a lot of voicework and stuff on these movies.
Anyway, that was a side note.
So the reason why this is thebest part of the movie, and I
can't believe I'm the oneselling this now, but it's true,
is that the it is a pi it's apivotal moment in the movie in
that it serves some lessons, itasks some questions, and it

(07:34):
kinda like it uh sort of tiesthis whole underwater community,
if you will, together.
Right.
Sounds so corny, but it reallydoes.
Yep.
And the thing I really liked, which again, this is a key part,
this is a key moment for thatmovie, is the little turtle guy
um got washed away in a currentor something, right?

(07:56):
Yep.
And Calvin, like, no Calvin, the on fish guy, Delvin, uh
who's the dadfish?
Marlin.
Marlin.
He got all freaked out, right?
Yep.
And then Dad Turtle was like, let's see how he does on his
own.
Yeah.
Whoa.
Whoa, Marlon.
Are you listening to that?
And then you know, he was fine,he had fun, he learned a

(08:17):
lesson, whatever.
And then Marlon was like, buthow do you know when they're
ready?
And all that stuff is so key totie it all together at the end,
isn't it?
So you were you I'll give you alot of props on that.
Well, I appreciate that.
Thank you.
You're welcome.
So sorry, uh, find an emo is inthe bag.
Done.
Boom.
26 out of 35 duckies accordingto RJ, 29 out of 35 duckies

(08:40):
according to work.
Yep.
Great.
Awesome.
You're welcome.

Speaker 3 (08:45):
It reminds me of uh you're welcome.
Yeah, thank you.
Yeah.
Uh it reminds me of a guy thatused to have at work.
The older guys would take himin the back room when there was
nothing going on or thelunchroom, and they'd sit there
and watch 80s movies for a kidthat was born in the 90s.
Did he like him?

(09:05):
Oh yeah.
They picked out some good ones.
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (09:10):
Yeah.
Um, I don't know in what waythis is like that at all.

Speaker 3 (09:15):
Well, just that you're reviewing a movie that's
what, 20 years old or somethinglike that?

Speaker 1 (09:20):
Well, yeah, I don't think anybody thought we were
breaking new ground here.
Yeah.
Uh at any rate, it's uh it's amovie I would have never seen if
not for uh Miss Cindy.
Yes, and you with your me, meh, meh, me seagulls.
Um am I a better person forhaving watched it?
I am not.
No.
Um would I do I wish I hadn'tever seen it?

(09:44):
Not necessarily.
I think uh in the portfolio oflife, it's still you know, it's
in there.
It's it's okay.
But I did want to say somethingto you about finding Nemo,
well, actually about findingNemo too, finding Dory.

Speaker 4 (09:58):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (09:59):
Like, uh, you didn't like it.
No.
I understand your reasons why.
Uh people did though.
Oh, really?
Yeah.
So finding Nemo, 99% rottentonight tomatoes, which I don't
think surprises me.
I think part of the personaljourney I've gone through on
this finding Nemo thing isrealizing that pretty much
everybody's seen it, pretty mucheverybody loves it.

(10:19):
99%, not that surprising.
Finding Dory, 94%.
Oh, really?
Yeah, people didn't hate it.

Speaker 2 (10:26):
Huh.

Speaker 4 (10:27):
Mm-hmm.
Wow.

Speaker 1 (10:29):
All right.
Great.
Uh done, I guess.
So next up is dirty dancing.
And actually, good segue backor seg back to what I was saying
in the beginning.
Uh, the episode Dirty DancingRoadhouse Raptors, you will
understand where the dirtydancing thing started on this

(10:49):
show.
I think you have to go back afew other episodes to understand
the origin of that, which was aPatrick Swayze thing.
Yep.
Yeah.
But uh yes, Dirty Dancing nextup.
I'll watch it.
See what see, I I said I'd doit and I did it, and yeah, took
it very seriously.

Speaker 3 (11:07):
That's cool.
That's I'm glad you did that.
Good.
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (11:11):
I hope Cindy is.

Speaker 3 (11:12):
Uh we'll find out.

Speaker 1 (11:13):
I haven't heard from her for a while.

Speaker 3 (11:15):
No, they've well, she's had a uh had a friend in
town for a couple weeks and thenshe just left, and then there's
another set of people coming uptomorrow through Monday.
So okay.

Speaker 1 (11:28):
Yeah.
Did you watch the music video Isent you?
Yeah, the one with uh Kesha.
It wasn't with Kesha, it was byKesha.
Well, they had Kesha in it.
What'd you think of that?
Was that a trip?
Uh it was very much a trip, yes.
And well, let's back up.
So the way that this came upwhen I was telling you about it,

(11:48):
I was like, Yeah, so Kesha hasthis new song called you know
called Joyride.
And you're like, Oh Kesha?
Like, yeah, right?
That was my reaction too.
And then I was like, it's afucking banger.
You're like, really?
I'm like, that was also myreaction.
I'm like, she has her new song,it's really good, really fun.
Her music video is banana shit, but like in a in a in a weird
here's how I describe it.

(12:10):
Uh that music video was areally super cool little short
movie, right?
That was so fucking mismatchedto the song, right?
I know kidding.
I was like, that's what was sobaffling.
I'm like, what the hell even?
Like, you know, I sent it toBrian, I was like, you should
watch this, and he's like, whatthe fuck was that?

(12:31):
I'm like, I know.
Yeah, I just it is a really funlittle movie though.
It is, it was good.
Yeah, it was it was reallycool, like how they, you know,
whole just the whole thing.
It was very I think it had sortof a not just the cars, but
like the like the uh like a likea very 70s kind of vibe to it.
Right, yeah.

(12:51):
But then she's not god, Ireally don't want to get into a
whole thing about this movievideo.
I'll try to keep it short.
It's like she's not evensinging to it.
No in the car.
Oh and I'm like, maybe if shewas singing to it, I don't know.
Anyway, yeah, yeah.
But it was it was worth a itwas worth a watch though.

Speaker 3 (13:12):
It was it got two watches out of me because if I
had to watch it, Christina hadtwo also.
Um did she like it?
Uh she never really said.
Oh, okay.
Well, I guess that doesn'tmatter.

Speaker 1 (13:24):
Yeah.
I mean, this isn't like uh somesuper important, culturally
important uh in the portfolio oflife important things like
chimp crazy.
Oh my gosh.
Oh so you've watched it now, right?

Speaker 3 (13:42):
Yeah, Christina and I watched it last week.
Yep.
What can I say about it?
Anything?
Uh I uh you know, you did thegreatest setup on that, like you
said.
Just need to watch it.
And we started watching it,it's like, what the fuck?
And then by the what the fourthand final episode, you're like,

(14:03):
what the fuck?

Speaker 1 (14:04):
Uh-huh.
And it's just like your jaw isfalling out of your mouth like
six times an episode.
Like, whoa.
Yeah.
And it's like every next thingis more insane than the last.

Speaker 3 (14:16):
Well, yeah, it's just, and then you you start
reading between the lines whenpeople that you know they don't
want to give any of that.
No, uh-uh.
But you start reading betweenyou're like, these fucking
people are lunatics.
Yes.
Oh, and there's so many layersto it, like so many layers,
dude.
Well, it's like Christina said, they've got to have a season
two.
It's like, didn't they finisheverything in season one?

Speaker 1 (14:38):
Yeah, I would I think I put I think I sort of asked
the same question.
I was like, Oh, they gotta havea season two.
I'm like, what would I meanwhat would what would it be?
What would it do?
Yeah, and um I don't know.
I mean, well, look, with thepeople involved in it, there is
almost certainly a fucking siloof insanity to draw from that
I'm sure they could do do moreinstallments of it.

(15:00):
Oh yeah.
Oh geez.
Oh Jesus.
But yeah, uh it's probablythird or fourth episodes come
up, loyal listeners.
So if you haven't watched it,watch it.

Speaker 3 (15:12):
Very much so, watch it.
There you go.
It's intriguing.
And if you have watched it, youknow why we're telling people
to watch it.
If you have watched it and youwant to leave us a comment on
one of our social media things, let us know what you thought of
it.

Speaker 1 (15:25):
There you go.
I would love seriously, peopledo that.
I'm not the comment slabbutton, whatever the thing
people fucking say.
It's on what's it's on Netflix,right?
Yeah, no, no, no, it's not.
But what's the thing that uhcomment slap like, comment, and
subscribe.
Yeah, we don't do that.
We're still not gonna know thatstupid.
Yeah, but honestly, folks, I Iwould legitimately love to hear

(15:49):
comments if you have them aboutJim Crazy.
Holy bananas.
It is on HBO.
Okay, HBO Max, which was uhformerly formerly known as Max,
formerly known as HBO Max.
You know about all that, right?
Uh no.
Oh, you didn't?
No.
Okay, so when they launchedtheir streaming service, they

(16:09):
called it HBO Max, and it wasHBO Max for I don't know,
whatever years.
Right.
And they decided to rebrand itas Max.
Okay.
So that was a couple years ago.
It was just called Max.
And honestly, one of thedumbest things you could do.
HBO is such a strong brand witha lot of history, right?
I mean, oh yeah, definitely.

(16:29):
They just called it Max.
And so their whole streamingservice was called Max for like,
I don't know, nine months.
And I'm like, boy, that wasdumb.
So they changed it back to HBOMax.

Speaker 3 (16:38):
What's what's Max known for?
Everybody called it Skinemax.
Because you you stayed up lateat night and there was some
definitely different movies onthere.

Speaker 1 (16:47):
Yeah, yeah.
I never even made that.
Yeah, I never made thatconnection as to what, but yeah,
it was it was basically like, you know, you could call it, it
doesn't matter.
You could call it, I'm gonnapick something random on my
desk.
Uh there you go.
You could call the service HBOStapler.
It doesn't matter.
You have a strong brand withHBO, right?
Yeah.
Like why why take that?
Why make it Max?

(17:07):
Yeah, but anyway, uh HBO Max,Chimp Crazy.
It's only like I say, that'sthe other thing.
It's only four episodes.

Speaker 3 (17:13):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (17:14):
Roughly four hours of your life.
I mean that you will be so, soglad to have spent on it.
Yeah.
Yep.
So speaking of comments, uh I'msure you've seen all the all
the comments on YouTube andstuff.
Uh parentheses, you haven't,because you don't check that
stuff even though originally yousaid you probably would get

(17:37):
into that later another time.
Maybe off air.

unknown (17:39):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (17:39):
Maybe boxing gloves.
But no, speaking of uh I I waslooking at the comments on just
on YouTube.
Um, because you can if youlisten at the end of the show,
uh, every show, Mark has alittle thing where he tells, you
know, you can figure out whereto find us on socials or
whatever.
But uh this one's specificallyon YouTube.

(18:00):
I was like, there's there'squite a few comments.
I was just looking at them.
And uh I wanna I want to readone to you.
Okay.
I uh look, look, folks, you'renot gonna get a shout-out just
for commenting.
So don't think this is how thisworks.
I just thought that this wascompelling and worth sharing.
So the comment is from atShamus the Moose.

(18:22):
It's just a screen name, man.
I don't know.
Moose Crazy.
Moose Crazy.
All right, I'm gonna write thatdown.
I'm gonna trademark that by thedomain later.
There's something not with thisguy, I'm just saying Moose
Crazy in general could be athing.
Yeah.
All right, so at Shammoose theMoose says, I got y'all as an

(18:43):
ad.
Holy shit, what a pair ofawkward and flat hosts.
No shit.
Yeah.
Oh I'm not done.
Actually painful to listen toYouTube banter.
Like neither one of you arehappy to be here or even like
the other.
And then he ends it withincredible.
Oh my gosh.

(19:06):
I just love that.
That is awesome.
I know.
I gave him an up thumb and aheart on that one.
Oh, dude.
Thank you for your honestfeedback.
Yeah.
Yeah.
We appreciate that.
You keep you keep doing, youkeep doing what you do, should
move the most.

Speaker 3 (19:18):
Yeah, because we don't give a shit.
We're gonna do what we like todo.
Was that nice to say?

Speaker 1 (19:24):
Well, no, I don't think it was mean or you know,
whatever.
I think it was just like mything was like I respect him.
Yeah.
Respect what you think.
Yep.
But to your point, we're like,I'm not gonna say we don't give
a shit.
I will say we're not gonnafucking change it.
We ain't changing shit.

Speaker 4 (19:41):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (19:42):
Because I mean we we had some feedback from uh the
vodka queen and we talked allabout that and then decided,
okay, great, thanks for yourcomments, and we're not gonna
listen to any of them.
Yeah.
Which she never even got backto us on.
No.
Did she?

Speaker 3 (19:56):
Uh no, because she uh she sent me that in a messenger
or a text, DM, whatever thehell you want to call it.

Speaker 1 (20:02):
Yeah, and okay.
Yep.
So yeah, back to the commentthing.
Again, for real, you got yougot a comment about Chim Crazy.
Uh I want to hear it.
We definitely want to hear it.
Yeah.
Uh cool.
Well, I'm glad you watchedthat.
Um, I was I've been trying toget everybody I know to watch

(20:24):
this damn thing, and I can't,because it's a tough sell.
Because part of my sell is I'mnot gonna tell anything.
Yeah.
Uh and so I think my mom wasthe first one who watched it,
and like I called her and like, can we just talk about this for
a minute?
She's like, Yes.
I can hear her, yeah.
And so we did, and but I toldher, I'm like, thank god
somebody's watched it.
Because ever since I watchedthis damn thing, I've just been

(20:46):
busting and like I talked tosomebody about this.
Yeah.
Gotta get another therapistjust for this.
I don't know.
Uh but uh oh shit.
Speaking of my mom, um was it Ithink it was what's that hum?
Do you hear that hum?

Speaker 3 (21:02):
I hear that hum.

Speaker 1 (21:03):
It's been there the whole time.

Speaker 3 (21:05):
It's just like it was there, then it went away, now
it's back.
Alright, whatever.

Speaker 1 (21:09):
Um speaking of that, so I think it was yeah, episode
before last.
Yeah, we were talking about umwhen we went to to mail her
mother's day gift, right?
Right.
Yeah, and we ate uh chickenfingers.
Oh sorry, Lane's chicken thingof Palestine, Texas.
Worst fucking meal I've everhad.
Oh shit.
Anywho, sort of to recap forthose of you who hadn't heard

(21:33):
it.
Um we the reason that shit, Ithought I'd turn that on.

Speaker 3 (21:39):
Oh fuck, you do have you do have a friend.

Speaker 1 (21:42):
Yeah, for once that was fucked up.
All right.
You know what?
When I went and put on thatcharger, which I here's the
problem, folks.
I can't I don't whatever.
Family, put on vibrate.
Um no, I went to put on thecharger, and I literally hit the
buttons to make sure it was onsilence.
So I guess I don't know whichbutton it is.
Uh that's true.
Anyway, so yeah, we went toPalestine.

(22:02):
Give me a second.
I'm not gonna be able to handleit.

Speaker 3 (22:10):
Ah, mine's on silent and vibrates off.
That's great, Mark.
So do something right once.
Once, yeah, no shit.
Cool.

Speaker 1 (22:21):
Alright, listeners.
Apologies for that.
Should if I hit the rightbutton this time, should be good
to go.
So recap, yeah, we went toPalestine and I say we raced up
there to get this thing mailed.
Um, which it was on a Thursday.
No, it was the Wednesday beforeMother's Day.
And I figured like that was theonly way I was gonna get there
um by Saturday, you know, beforeSunday.

(22:43):
And I really, really wanted to.
Um so went up there and uh itit it didn't get there by
Mother's Day, Mark.
Uh she said it what?
The lady at the counter.
Yeah.
She did.
She did.
Um yes.
Now so it missed it.

(23:06):
Basically, it was like the thetracking number, the receipt she
gave me, it said it would bethere Monday, right?
I told you this.
Yeah, but she told me she wasgiving me the thing, and she's
like, the thing's gonna sayMonday.
That's just because it's likewe're almost close almost
closing time.
It'll be there Saturday.
That the tracking will update, you know, tomorrow, whatever.

(23:26):
Great.
So did it didn't get there, didn't get there on Monday
though, either.
Yeah.
Um That's bullshit.
Well, didn't get there onTuesday either.
So let's go for Didn't getthere on Wednesday.
You'd you'd again strike out.
You're kidding me.

(23:47):
Uh let me I'm gonna walk I'mgonna I'm gonna walk you through
the tracking history on thispackage.
Okay.
And uh for those of you haters, yeah, you can cite this one.
Yeah, they spit up had a wholesegment walking through USPS
package history.
Here we go.

Speaker 3 (24:04):
Come on, Moose Knuckle, let us know.

Speaker 1 (24:07):
Someone don't egg them on.
But yeah, if you have commentson this one too, bud.
Anyway, so this was Thursdaybefore Mother's Day.
Uh first one, USPS inpossession of item.
So yeah, this was the no, Isorry, it was the Wednesday
before Mother's Day.
I want to make sure of that, make sure I'm clear about that

(24:28):
because if we had if I had triedto do this on Thursday, then
I'd be the idiot here, but rightWednesday, 4 25 p.m.
in possession of item.
Boom, they had it, and we gotit there just under the wire.
Next morning, 6 55.
So I'm gonna take you on ajourney here, Mark.
Okay, here we go.
All right.
Next morning, departed,Palestine, Texas, 6 55.

(24:49):
Great.
Now, I should say that my momlives in Arizona, not in a major
city.
Um, and so you kind of have tothink, you know, think about
this for a second, right?
Like they have regionalfacilities, right?
So it's gonna take a certainroute to get from Palestine,

(25:10):
Texas, to where she is.
And I don't really know whatthat route would have been, but
I think you could kind of guess, right?
Like maybe Houston to Phoenixor yeah, something like that.
Um so um later that same day onThursday, 4 17, it arrives at

(25:30):
the regional facility in Dallas,Texas.
Oh shit.
This is Thursday.
Yeah.
Looking good, right?
Looking real good.
All right.
Friday at 1 51 p.m.
It arrives at the regionalfacility Dallas, Texas.
All right, uh Saturday.

(25:54):
Now this is Saturday.
Saturday afternoon.
Saturday 4 19 p.m.
Now it's arrived at theregional facility in Dallas,
Texas.
And I want to make very clear, this is not like they're just
scanning it every day to belike, yep, still here.
This is it departed from Dallasand arrived at Dallas the next

(26:18):
day.
Fuck yeah.
So that was Saturday.
Well, that's it, folks, right?
Like, there's no mail onSunday, so that's it, folks, for
hitting Sunday.
All right, so Saturday, alright, it's not gonna make it,
whatever.
So I'm like, alright, I'm gonnabe there Monday, I guess.
Um and Saturday.

(26:41):
Oh yeah, wait, sorry.
So nothing moved Saturday,yeah, yeah.
So and by the way, this wholetime it's showing tracking
arriving Monday.
I'm like, you've made threeround trips and out of Dallas
between Thursday and Saturday.
I'm not feeling so good aboutMonday.
No.
Alright.
So now we're good.

(27:04):
Now we're jumping from Saturdayto and I am not even kidding
you.
Tuesday.
Fuck it departs.
Regional facility Dallas.
Tuesday morning at 12 58 a.m.
It took, I'll do some mathhere.
One, two, three, four, five, literally, six days to leave

(27:26):
Dallas.
Jesus Christ.
But it gets better.
Okay.
Well, it doesn't get that muchbetter, I was gonna say, and
then it came back to Dallas, butwhich I was fully fucking
expecting that.
I'm like, no.
So Tuesday, gosh, 1258, departsDallas.
Now, and this part is prettyimpressive, actually.

(27:47):
Same day, 8 38 p.m.
arrived at Avondale, Arizona.
Ooh.
Yeah, I think they got thatthing on a plane or something.
They must have.
So I'm like, okay, now we'regetting somewhere.
Right?
Yeah.
So then boom, hour and a halflater, it departs Avondale,

(28:08):
Arizona.
Wow.
And arrives at Phoenix.
Phoenix Distribution Center.
Half hour later.
Shit.
Fucking making progress, right?
Uh real good progress.
Yep.
So that was Tuesday.
So I guess it liked it there inPhoenix because it was there
for two more days.

(28:28):
Oh shit.
And then finally, Thursdaymorning.
Now we're one week plus oneday, right?
Yeah.
Thursday morning, 4.08 a.m.
It depar it is actually at theprocessing facility in their
town.
And that same day they got itout.

(28:49):
Uh so it was finally delivered, which is actually today, the
day that we're recording this.
Right.
But who boy.
I mean, what a journey.

Speaker 3 (28:59):
So did you pay for like express on that or
something?
Priority?

Speaker 1 (29:03):
Uh it was it was priority, yeah.

Speaker 3 (29:05):
Um so you do you get a refund since your shit wasn't
there on time?

Speaker 1 (29:09):
Uh I'm gonna say I don't know.
Yeah.
Well, I I know they're notgonna give me one.
Um, I I'll say I don't know ifI'm entitled to one.
I am going to guess, uhprobably not, because with you
know, like like a plane ticketor a train ticket or whatever,
like you get a you get a ticket, you know, to fly from you know

(29:31):
wherever in Dallas toPennsylvania, you know, on
Tuesday, and then it cancels andthen you don't go, right?
Like, yeah, fuck yeah, I mustsee you.
Yeah, spirit airlines.
Yeah.
Which basically spells out allthe reasons why you're fucked,
not them.
And so I'm just gonna guessthat it probably in the terms
and conditions is like, yeah, priority mail, they say three to

(29:54):
five days, and then you know, but then also maybe not, and
kind of the whatever.
Thing is, I don't you know, Ireally wanted it to be there for
Mother's Day.

Speaker 3 (30:03):
Oh, I know.
That's why we busted ass andate that shitty food.
Correct.
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (30:07):
But it really doesn't, you know, it doesn't
matter, right?
Like, she's not one of thecrazy people.
Like, all good.
She understands, it's you know, not about the day.
And she, by the way, had alovely Mother's Day um with uh
my brothers and their families.
So they had she had a greatday.
And the fact that this wasn'tthere on that day, whatever,

(30:28):
it's fine.
It got there, she has it.

Speaker 4 (30:30):
Right.

Speaker 1 (30:32):
What do you think about that?
12 minutes on track.
But no, it's like I can't evenbe mad because I know like a lot
of people are like, you know, this happens and they're like,
ah damn, fucking USPS.
Uh you know what?
How many hundreds or thousandsof things right have I gotten or

(30:52):
sent in my life on the throughthe post office?
Yeah, every now and thensomething happens.
It happens, right?
Yeah, it happens.
They didn't lose it, so that'sgood.

Speaker 3 (31:02):
So I got a question.
Sure.
Well, did you use uh prioritymail express?
Uh no.
Oh, okay.
It was well, I'm here to sayno, it's priority mail.
Okay.
Yeah, why?
No refund.

Speaker 1 (31:14):
Oh, you looked it up.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Well, see, I was I was right.

Speaker 3 (31:18):
Yeah.
I you should have spade theextra $20 to send it express.
You'd have got all your moneyback.

Speaker 1 (31:28):
Okay.
Um, yeah, let me I'll just keepthat in mind next time.
You know, uh it I don't knowhow much it costs to mail it.
Probably an outrageous amountof money, right?
Because shipping costs way toomuch these days.
Yep.
But it's not an amount of moneythat I uh am concerned about
try spending time to get back.
Um I would have been I wouldhave been not very pleased if

(31:53):
they had lost it.
Oh, that would have sucked.
Yes.
Um it was a uh it was a uh itwasn't like uh I bought
something at a store and selledit, sent it right.
Yeah.
It was a bespoke gift for sure.
Um so anyway, it is there.
And yay.
Was well was she impressed withher gift?

(32:14):
Well, um, here's the thing whenbecause you well, when you came
over um earlier tonight to tocome in here and record, um, I
was on the phone with her.
She had actually just called mebecause it had sort of just
just gotten there.
Um and so she she I why am Iwhy are we dancing around that

(32:36):
she has it now?
It's not like a secret.
So what what it is is uh sheher her dad back in the day had
one of those old eightmillimeter cameras, and there's
there's this box of eightmillimeter films of her family,
um her family, extended family, dating all the way back.

(32:57):
I think the first one was in1956.
Yeah.
Um and they the span of I thinkthey ran the span of about 10
years or so.
Uh they they almost were lostto time and history, which is a
whole other story that we won'tget into on here.
But nope.
They ended up here at my house.
Well uh uh I tried to we triedto watch him when she was here

(33:19):
last time.
I got a projector.
Uh well actually we talkedabout this on the file before,
like, oh my god, we've got lostour minds.
But anyway, couldn't get itgoing.
And so what I did for Mother'sDay is I uh got a digitized her
machine, I digitized all thefilms for her um and made a DVD
out of them.
So that's that's what the giftwas.
Um and to answer your question, she when she called, she hadn't

(33:43):
watched it.
Um but she was she just readthe card and what the no site,
but she was blown away.

Speaker 3 (33:50):
That is awesome, absolutely blown away.
So you still rank higher thanuh Rob then, right?
Yeah, that's not hard though.
Yeah, that's not hard.
Yeah, at least you know shealways looks up to you, you're
taller.
Yes, that's true.

Speaker 1 (34:03):
That's a terrible joke.
Um but no, she was really supertouched, um, very blown away.
And you know, uh I'll hearmaybe I'll probably tonight
because I'm sure she was bustingto wait to watch them.
Yeah.
Um, but I'm really superexcited to hear what she's what
she has to say about the justthe films themselves, because I

(34:24):
know she's seen I don't eventhink she's seen all of them
though, because when I wastalking to her earlier tonight,
there's a few things I mentionedthat she never remembers
seeing.
So she's seen some of these, but not for decades, probably.
So can't wait for her to watchthem.
Um and I'll just say this aspublic service people.
Um, if you're thinking aboutmaking a DVD, fucking think

(34:50):
thank hard.
Yeah, I might have a specialwhole whole special episode on
that.
Oh god, what a thing.
I will say this though.
Um the digitizing process oftaking the eight millimeter
film, and again, this is likewhat 60, you know, 50, 60, 70
year old films.
Right.
Yeah, taking this film andactually, you know, frame by

(35:12):
frame scanning it into a movie,a digital movie file.
That was that was not thatwasn't that really wasn't bad at
all.
I had I did have to get aspecial machine, but that went
well.
Yeah.
Then I went to put make a DVD.
Oh god, just don't do it,people.
I couldn't believe what a painin the butt that was, like in
retrospect.

(35:32):
Send it away, have somebodyelse do this shit for you.
That's honestly, I wouldadvocate for that.
Um I well, even though I gottasay this, even though we did
have to race up to get thisthing sent on time, I was way
ahead of the game.
Because I started like a monthbefore on this project.
Yep.
And I had everything, I had thedigitization, like everything

(35:54):
done well in advance.
Even the DVD, you know, I madesure to get it sorted out, even
though it took way longer.
Really, the reason we wererushed, I was rushed to ship it,
was just because I hadeverything ready to go, and then
I just it was kind of justsitting there on my counter
because I was procrastinatingthat.
But yeah, honestly, um send itoff to one of those things for

(36:16):
real because it is worth it.
I don't even know what theycharge.
Worth it.
Yeah, definitely worth it.
Yeah, and it turns out I don'teven have a DVD player, which is
a fun part of my insanity whenI got all done.
I got this whole process.
I have this DVD.
Is that burned?
I'm like, great, let's go test.
Oh Jesus, how am I gonna playthis stupid thing?
Eventually I figured out thatmy truck has one.

(36:38):
There you go.
So yeah, that was fun.
Yeah, whole other stupid story.
But anyway, it was we're fullof those.
Yeah, we sure fucking are.
But uh anyway, through aconvoluted series of events and
machinations, I was able to testand play this DVD on my truck.
And I'm like, okay, it works, great.

(37:01):
So, and then um that is cool, yeah.
So it is cool, and I'll saythis.
Um, it it was a decent amountof work, it was a labor of love.
Um, but you know, I am apartfrom the fact I wanted to do it
for her, I was really glad thatI had done it.

(37:21):
Like after going through allthese films, this was about 25
reels, um, and scan, you know, the whole process, like that
there weren't gonna be a wholelot of opportunities left to do
this.
Yeah.
They were not stored well, youknow, a lot of them weren't in
great shape.
And if you know, if we hadwatched them on a projector
once, they'd go back in a boxfor I don't know, maybe 30 more
years, right?

Speaker 4 (37:42):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (37:42):
So I'm really glad in that regard that I ended up
doing it.
Um it was a fun project, andactually uh something that I
have been pushing you to do.
I don't think you're thatenthusiastic about it, but I
think it'd be great is to lookinto digitizing your stuff.
Oh my slides.
Yeah, we should talk about thatbecause you used you used to do

(38:04):
this and be into this, and likesomething I actually didn't
know about you till fairlyrecently, and I'm I think it's
really interesting.
Okay.
Do I have to do everythinghere?
No, what tell you used to dophotography, right?

Speaker 3 (38:20):
Yeah, I used to do photography when I uh was in
Seattle.
I got into it with uh anotherbuddy of mine, uh Nathan, and we
used to hike to believe it ornot, uh used to hike to
waterfalls and take waterfallpictures and stuff like that,
and then uh also went toGasworks Park in Seattle and
took some really cool picturesand just did a whole bunch of

(38:42):
picture taking.
I was I was really into it.
Started off with uh 35millimeters, then went to slide
film, and then we found a placereal close to work that he could
drop it off in the morning onhis well in the afternoon on his
lunch break and drop off theslide film, and then on my way
to work because I work swingshift, I could pick it up, and
then we could sit there and workit look at and look at all of

(39:04):
our slides.

Speaker 1 (39:04):
Yeah.
So and you've got a lot you gota lot of pictures, right?

Speaker 3 (39:08):
I think I've got eight, six or eight carousels
full of pictures.

Speaker 1 (39:12):
Oh god, I'm glad you said carousels.
I'm like, eight pictures thiswhole time?
Yeah, yeah, that's a lot.
And uh something I didn't knowabout you, and when you tell me,
I was like, ah, that's reallycool.
I you know, I'd like to I'dreally like to see that um uh
for a lot of reasons.
Um one, it's just it's coolbecause you know it's like like
old school and all that kind ofstuff.
And then two, I I always Ialways think it's fascinating

(39:34):
when people have uh you knowlike an artistic slant or
talent, yeah, or even if they'renot talented, um maybe you suck
at photography.
I don't know, but it'sinteresting to see how people
exercise those creative aspects.
So yeah, I I I I've beentelling Mark like we we need to
get like a digitizer, and um,you know, and and I'll say this

(39:57):
too, just I'll reinforce it foryou that again with these eight
millimeter films, yeah.
I think there's a I thinkthere's a a shelf life here to
an extent.

Speaker 3 (40:06):
And so yeah, I should look I should honestly look
into getting a digitizer to tohave them switched over.

Speaker 1 (40:12):
Yeah, I think well I think it'd be a fun project too.

Speaker 3 (40:14):
Yeah, yeah, especially since I spend all my
time just sitting up at nightwatching TV and stuff.
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (40:21):
Correct.
Um that's what I meant.
Maybe you can do something elsewith your time.
Um speaking of time, we are outof that.
Already?
You betcha, bud.
Damn, here we go.
I know, but we we got a lotdone here today.
Yeah, yeah, we did.
So uh all right, well, that'sit.
Catch y'all later.
Have a good one.

Speaker 3 (40:50):
Hey, it's Mark here at Set and Centered.
Uh I just want to let everybodyknow that if they want to catch
us on the socials, you cancatch us at our webpage,
setcenter.live, or on Facebookat SetCenter Live.
Uh we'll maybe post some littlestupid videos that we've done,
stuff like that, as we're gonnakeep on going.
And also we've talked a lotabout the animals here on the

(41:11):
ranch, and we'll post picturesof them.
We'll see how it goes.

How we go.
