On May 30, 2016, 41-year-old Liliana Moreno and her 9-year-old daughter Daniela vanished from Hialeah Gardens, Florida.

Their apartment door was locked. Her car was parked outside. Liliana’s purse, wallet, and passport were left behind — and food was still sitting out on the stove.

The last person to see them alive was Daniela’s biological father. He claimed he dropped them off on the side of the road after an argument. But within hours, strange events began to unfold: a burglary targeting security footage, Liliana’s documents found in a dumpster, and a van rental that ended with a violent confrontation with police.

For eight years, their loved ones have lived with unanswered questions. Then, in October 2024, Daniela’s father was charged with two counts of kidnapping resulting in death in their case.

This week, we revisit the disappearance of Liliana and Daniela Moreno, two lives stolen — and a fight for justice that’s still unfolding.
