Hello, hello.
Welcome back to another episodeof she Is Redefined.
(00:43):
I'm so grateful and glad thatyou are here.
Thank you so much.
I love every single one of mylisteners and if you're new here
, welcome.
I hope you get a ton out ofthis episode.
I am just like my heart is likebursting.
I'm just so happy right now.
My client results are nextlevel and my old 13-year-old
golden retriever is laying rightat my feet right now and my
kids are healthy.
Things are just really reallygood feet right now and my kids
(01:05):
are healthy.
Things are just really reallygood and I'm just having an
overwhelming moment of gratitudeand I just wanted to talk about
that.
But you know I have beenthrough the ringer in the last
couple of weeks, so you knowit's nice to feel this way.
But what I'm so jazzed aboutare the client results that have
been flooding in.
It was so fun.
I'm actually recording this ona Saturday and I don't normally
(01:26):
record on Saturdays, but Iopened my work email up to
emails from a client who waslike you won't believe it.
I just signed a dream clientbiggest deal ever and it's like
it's going to be huge, it'sgoing to like ripple into other
things and I'm like fuck, yes, because that's what it's all
about.
But I actually want to talk toyou about one of my favorite
(01:49):
subjects that I work closelywith, with one-on-one clients,
and I, honest to God, have noidea why I have never talked
about this ever.
Why have I never talked aboutthis publicly?
I've never even shared it withyou, and this is the art of
getting exactly what you wantwithout hustling.
So, in other words, we're goingto be talking about negotiation
today.
Okay, the art of negotiating.
(02:12):
So let me just paint a picturefor you.
I walked into a car dealershipnot too long ago.
I just got a brand new car, mydream car, and I'm a mom of a
three-year-old and atwo-year-old and my husband is
obviously here and we don't haveany family here in Texas, so if
I've got to be gone, I need myhusband to step in, because no
(02:35):
one's going to be going carshopping with a three-year-old
and two-year-old who would Godbless you if you have.
But I walked into a cardealership with a very specific
vision.
I knew exactly what I wantedfully loaded SUV, top of the
line and I wanted it at a pricethat made the most sense for me,
which I already had in my headand I wasn't there to settle.
(02:57):
Now, most people when they thinkof car buying, they shrink down
.
I want you to now like do youlove going to buy a car?
I have never met a singleperson outside of myself who
loves that and outside of my dad, because a lot of the skills
that I've learned are actuallyfrom him.
He is a masterful negotiatorand I think I have outdone him.
What is that like?
(03:18):
Like young grasshopper, youhave like mastered it all.
Like is that Karate Kid?
I don't know.
Obviously I don't.
I'm not in that phase yet wheremy kids are old enough for that
, anyway.
So, like I said, now most peoplethey might walk into a car
dealership feeling nervous, normal, or feel like they need
(03:38):
to accept whatever deal that isoffered to them, like their
hands are tied.
But that's not me.
No, no, no.
So here's what happened.
I negotiated $6,500 over askingprice for my trade in for the
car I was trading in, and Iwalked out with my dream car,
fully loaded, for $15,000 offthe sticker price.
(04:01):
Literally, the GM told me, aswe were wrapping everything up,
I have never seen a deal likethis before.
Well done, and she obviouslysigned off on it and it's
amazing.
But let me tell you it wasn'tluck, and it wasn't just good
timing, and it wasn't justmanifestation and yo girl over
here loves manifestation butactually, my friend, it was the
power of owning my power, whichis negotiation.
(04:25):
That same power is what I teachall of my clients who work
close proximity to me.
One of my clients walked intoher boss's office and negotiated
a $10,000 raise.
Yeah, when she was given araise just six months prior,
another one completely rewrotethe contract of her division
like rewrote a contract becauseshe shot her shot.
(04:47):
I have endless examples that Ican give to you with, like
housing and rent or a mortgageand like, honestly, I can give
you so many stories, but thething is is that owning your
power and learning how tonegotiate which is owning your
power, by the way will changeyour life, and today that's what
(05:08):
I'm going to talk to you about.
I want to talk to you about theactual how, so what most people
get wrong when it comes tonegotiation, and I want to set
the record straight.
Negotiation is not about beingpushy or aggressive or difficult
.
That's the story and the liewe've been told and, honestly,
it holds everyone back, youincluded, I'm guessing.
(05:28):
Here's where most people get itwrong.
They think that negotiation isonly about the money.
Spoiler alert it's not.
It's about creating what feelsmost in alignment with you and
your desire and staying true toit.
They think negotiation is aboutgetting more from others.
Absolutely not.
It's about recognizing yourworth and clearly communicating
(05:50):
it, and most think that it's askill reserved for certain types
of people.
Like what the hell is that?
But guess what?
Negotiation is a skill thatanyone repeat, anyone can learn,
including you today.
So let me ask you this how manytimes have you thought I wish I
could have that, but stoppedyourself because you didn't
(06:10):
believe it was possible or itwas out of budget.
How often have you wanted toask for something but decided to
just settle instead?
Time to get honest withyourself.
If you're nodding along, thisepisode is for you entirely what
we're about to head into.
I want to share a few storiesnext, because I think it's so
important to see what's possiblewhen you step fully into your
(06:31):
power and learn how to ask forwhat you want by clearly
communicating what I just shared.
One of my clients was verynervous about asking for a raise
, as most are.
She was just given a raise.
She's like there's no way, butI feel that I'm undervalued here
at this company.
So we discussed and she wassaying like, what if they say no
(06:52):
?
Or, worse, what if they thinkI'm too demanding?
But I worked with her.
I did my framework, my strategy.
We worked on her confidence.
I reminded her who the hell sheis, I helped her with her
language, I helped her crafteverything and I, most
importantly, I helped her withher energy.
And she walked into thatmeeting and she didn't just get
a raise, she got a $10,000 bump,a 10k bump.
(07:16):
She locked in $10,000 in oneday, like hell freaking.
Yes, that's my world.
Another client was stuck in acontract that honestly, didn't
even work for her anymore.
She's like I'm barely gettingpaid for what I'm delivering.
The company's making money handover, fist off of me.
This is bullshit, I want more.
It felt restricted to her, itfelt unfair and, honestly, it
(07:37):
was for how much she wasproducing.
So we worked together torewrite it and shoot her shot to
the powers that be in a waythat aligned with what she felt
she was worthy of and deserved.
And not only did her boss agreeto the changes, she got a raise
out of it.
Like no joke, she got a raiseout of it.
So they implemented and rewrotethis contract and gave her more
(07:59):
money.
Like insane.
Writing the contract actuallyaffected other people too.
So like that's the level ofnegotiating and the skills that
I equip you with when we worktogether closely and it just
like it gets me so passionateand get so fired up.
And then another example isjust me, I've negotiated a
C-suite executive role and titlewhen I was 31.
(08:22):
How many C-suite executives doyou know at 31?
It might be more of a thing nowbecause things are like
changing.
But I know how to clearlycommunicate what I want and I
know how to present myself, andso, in doing so, I've negotiated
better pay, c-suite titles.
I've negotiated alignedpartnerships, even daily
boundaries, that allow me tolive my life with freedom.
(08:44):
Negotiation isn't just aboutdeals.
It's about deciding what you'reavailable for in life and
learning what that is andclearly communicating it.
So why does any of this matter?
Well, it's because negotiationisn't just about getting a deal.
It's about reclaiming yourpower.
Hint, hint, hint.
I've been saying that thiswhole time.
When you master this, everythingshifts.
(09:05):
You stop feeling like you're atthe mercy of other people.
You stop walking into rooms andconversations like you're out
of control.
You stop settling for goodenough.
You start creating a life thatfeels aligned, expansive,
abundant and ultimately yours.
Think about it.
What would your life look likeif you knew how to exactly ask
(09:26):
for what you wanted and feltconfident that you'd get it?
Can you just sit with that fora second?
How would your relationshipschange?
How would your business, howwould your confidence?
If you walked into everysituation confident that you
knew how to exactly ask for whatyou wanted?
Your life would do a full 180.
And I bet you're not doing thatright now, and the reason is,
(09:46):
like I said before no oneteaches you these things and I
feel bad that I have not talkedabout this up to this point, but
it just hit me like a ton ofbricks driving the boys to
school and I was like it waslike a download, like why are
you not helping more people withthis?
And I only help my one-on-oneclients with this.
Like more people got to know.
So here's the shift thatchanges everything.
Negotiation is not about taking.
(10:07):
Negotiation is not about taking.
It's about creating win-winscenarios.
If you're my client, youfreaking know how often do I say
this when we talk about this.
Can we find a win-win?
Can we find a win-win?
It starts with getting clear onwhat you want, believing you
deserve it and showing up withconfidence that you will get it.
So here's a little exercise foryou.
I want you to take a piece ofpaper and write down one thing
(10:30):
you've been settling for.
Maybe it's a work situation,maybe it's a client, maybe it's
a boundary in your personal life.
Whatever it is, maybe it'ssomething you've been afraid to
ask for.
Write down what that is, andthen the next thing is you want
to write down what you actuallywant instead.
Now, I don't want you to writedown what feels reasonable.
(10:54):
I want you to write down whatyou actually desire, and then
the next step is how can youstart showing up in alignment
with that desire?
That's where the magic begins.
So this episode really isn'tjust about negotiation You're
probably catching on.
It's all about empowerment.
It's about stepping into yourreality, where you don't just
(11:16):
hope for more, you fucking claimit.
Because when you master thisskill, you don't just get better
deals, better clients, betterscenarios, better partnerships,
you get a better life, and Idon't even say that lightly.
That's the only thing thatmakes sense.
It's not me just doing the woo, only, there is something called
the law of action.
That's the only thing thatmakes sense.
It's not me just doing the wooonly, there is something called
(11:37):
the law of action.
This is the action.
It's learning skills to ownyour power, to walk into every
situation and always get whatyou want, or, better yet,
finding a win-win for bothscenarios, because that's
ultimately the best negotiators, because it's not a taking game,
it's a win-win game.
You start showing up in roomsdifferently when you learn this.
(11:58):
You attract alignedopportunities that literally are
like how is this even happening?
Because people have been givena good vibe from you.
People respect you.
When you go for a win-winscenario, you stop settling for
good enough because you'regetting a win-win scenario and
you start creating exactly whatyou want.
You start building a life, exactly what you want, because
you're unavailable for anythingelse.
(12:19):
So let me ask you what is onearea of your life where you're
ready to stop settling and startnegotiating?
Are you ready to claim yourpower and walk into every
conversation and not play small, not shrink yourself down in
every area of your life, everypart of your life where you're
like I'm walking in claiming mypower and I'm going to find a
(12:41):
win-win situation?
Now, of course, this goes muchdeeper than me telling you find
a win-win situation, and a lotof people usually then need help
cultivating the confidence, finding the words, asking the
right questions, and that'swhere I come in.
So, if this resonates with youat all, I'd like to formally
invite you to my brand newOverflow Empire Mastermind.
(13:03):

Not I'm out for myself, becausethat's not what I'm saying at
all.
It's actually a very differentgame and you build insane
relationships.
In fact, there is somebody I'vebeen working with personally on
(14:58):
stuff that I've been purchasingand she wants to hire me on as
a consultant for building andgrowing her business digitally
