Ever received a message so clear it changed everything? That's exactly what happened when Katie Smith experienced what she calls a "divine download" during one of the most challenging moments of her life. Following her son's health crisis, a simple yet profound message appeared: "God's Got Me." That spiritual revelation has now sparked a movement and merchandise line that's resonating deeply with everyone who encounters it.

Katie opens up about the transformative power of surrendering control and truly believing that something greater has your back. She challenges the exhausting cycle many of us live in—constantly creating backup plans, anticipating worst-case scenarios, and carrying the weight of orchestrating our entire lives. What if instead, we simply exhaled and trusted? What might happen if we stopped the mental spinning and allowed ourselves to believe that divine timing is perfect, and that we don't need to force outcomes?

The conversation explores how this shift in perspective isn't just spiritually significant but physically healing. When we stop operating from a place of constant stress and vigilance, our nervous systems can regulate, our adrenals recover, and we experience what true peace feels like. Katie shares how she now interrupts anxiety spirals with the simple affirmation "God's got me," and the profound difference it makes. Whether you're navigating health challenges, relationship uncertainties, career transitions, or simply the day-to-day stresses of modern life, this episode offers a refreshing alternative to white-knuckling your way through life. Join the waitlist for "God's Got Me" merchandise and discover how choosing faith over worry might just be the exhale your soul has been waiting for.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to she is Redefined, the podcast where we
break free from societalexpectations, redefine our
identities and step fully intothe woman we were always meant
to be.
I'm Katie Smith, your host andguide on this journey of
transformation.
Here, we're all about embracingchange, cultivating confidence
and living life on our own terms.
Each week, we'll dive intotopics that inspire, challenge

(00:22):
and empower you to redefine whatit means to be you.
Dive into topics that inspire, challenge and empower you to
redefine what it means to be you.
So, if you're ready to rewriteyour story and live life that's
bold, authentic andunapologetically yours, let's
dive in.
I have tried to make this anglelook cute.

(00:42):
I feel like so many people onInstagram who record podcasts
with video, which is like whatI'm doing now.
If you're listening to thisaudibly, I am starting to record
myself while I'm doing theseand put them into little
bite-sized clips and put them onthe she Is Redefined Instagram
page just to talk about the swag, show off the swag and then
also give people just a littlebit more insight into me and how

(01:05):
I am.
Look at that, but I don't knowhow people make this look so
dang cute.
I'm like my hair, all thethings, but PS.
Okay, first of all, I was goingto tell you something and now
I'm backtracking.
I am now just doing so manymore things off the cuff.
I will be recording moreepisodes in my car with a little
microphone that I got.

(01:25):
Some will be on camera, somewill be off camera.
I'm just trying to have this beso off the cuff, like as
natural as can be, becauseanything too curated I'm
allergic to right now.
So there's that.
But so many people make thislike look so cute and it took me
forever to just get the angleright.
I don't even know.

(01:46):
Anyways, so happy you're here.
Do you love the God's Got Meshirt?
I just I can't.
So if you're new here, I amcreating swag that has God's Got
Me on it.
There's different variations ofit.
I'm even working on a hat, andthe craziest part of all this is
you know my story.
You know what's happened in mylife.
If you don't go back a coupleepisodes and you can listen in

(02:08):
about the scariest moment, theliving nightmare that I lived
with my son and when I waslaying in bed one day and I
might have said this likeforgive me, I don't know who
I've said what to what, I'verecorded what I haven't, but
when I was laying in bed with myboys putting them into bed,
maybe a week after we got homefrom the second time from the
hospital, and all of a sudden Igot this download that dropped

(02:31):
in that said create shirts.
It's going to look like this.
It's going to be bolded, italicized, all the things,
these are the colors, this isthe same.
It's just God's got me and puta little whisper walk like it on
the back.
I'm not kidding you.
I've never, ever in my entirelife, have been given a vision

(02:54):
of something and was like, without a doubt in my mind, I'm
absolutely doing this, and so Idid it.
And then I shared it on socialmedia and everybody wants it and
it's so wild.
So I want to talk about God'sGot Me.
That's going to be pretty muchthe message, because it funnels
in or flows in and spills overinto every part of your life.
But that's pretty much themessage of what you're always
going to be getting out of theseepisodes where you're left with

(03:18):
something that you can highlyrelate to and then something
tangible that you can do thattakes you through your day.
I'm not even trying to help youget through your week.
I just want to help you feelpeace.
That makes no sense and thatthere's a higher power, god,
source, divine, whatever youbelieve in that has your back,
because once you settle intothat, everything changes.

(03:40):
You instantly feel relaxed.
You instantly feel like theweight of the world is off of
your shoulders, simply bybelieving that God's got you,
god's got us, you're good, noworries.
And so sometimes that's reallyhard to do when you're in the
middle of chaos.
Sometimes that's really hard todo when you're used to having
to prove something all the time, all the time.

(04:02):
I don't know if you can relateto that, but that's actually
when you need to lean in themost of like, what am I doing?
Why am I working so hard?
Why am I trying to act like I'mcontrolling anything?
Anyways, that's a largeresponsibility, and it's kind of
funny to think that one personwould even have that
responsibility.
And so in those moments, that'swhen I have to remind myself

(04:25):
that God's got me and the swagthat I created it has a special
feel.
It's taken me forever toactually find what I wanted, but
I wanted a shirt that felt cozybut nothing to do with warmth.
I wanted the writing to be bigenough.
But then I also wanted some ofthe writing to be small enough
where it's a whisper, wherethere's actually more power

(04:47):
sometimes in a whisper thanthere's power in like shouting,
bold, cap locks type of font andlanguage.
I also wanted people to feellike they had a hug, like when
they put on a sweatshirt.
It was like a hug and you feellike you stand taller and your
shoulders are back and you'restanding up straight when you

(05:09):
wear these sweatshirts or theshirts that I have, where you
literally feel like you'rewearing armor.
And that's what I can relate toand why I created it myself,
because I literally feeldifferent when I wear it and
that makes crazy no sensebecause it's the same material
as any other shirt but I swearit holds different weight.

(05:29):
So I'm super fired up about themerchandise and where it's
going.
There is a wait list for that.
You can find that in the shownotes.
I do ask for your patience.
I did all this stuff for myselfand I shared about it and now
there's a large demand which Ijust am shocked, like hand to
God shocked.
But I need to make sure if thisis something people want to buy

(05:53):
, I need to make sure it has theright feeling, it's the right
color and it has the right vibeand frequency to it.
That came down that night whenI was laying in bed with my boys
and the ones that I wear, andso give it some time.
I'm looking for the rightpartner to do this, with the
right screen printer, the rightvendor for the shirts.

(06:14):
It's got to be right, becauseyou will be shocked.
I mean, I am severely let downby the merchandise industry, at
least local to me.
I went to two places.
The first place didn't have theright colors, like they said
they did, and so I was like, okay, well, that was a giant
waste of time.
Second place, they literallygave me my bag for the samples

(06:35):
and like, okay, yeah, tell uswhat you think.
Like you know we'll, we'll chatwith your order and all this
stuff.
I literally opened it up andnone of it was right.
Like the spacing was off, thetext was wrong.
It's like they took my filesand were like we're going to
edit her files and do like, comeup with a different design
instead that we feel might bebetter.
And it's like why did you haveme send you the files then?

(06:56):
And I signed off on them and Ieven gave notes as what I didn't
want and they still printed itthat way anyway.
So it's just been a weird likejumping through a lot of hoops
where I was like, huh, okay, Ithought this was just going to
be easy.
I mean, I just created thisstuff online to make for myself.
Cool, I don't know how to dothat.
I'm not going to just have yougo sign up for something online,
like I want to feel it, andmake sure it's everything that

(07:18):
you're going to want and it'sgoing to hit the mark.
Like, if it's not going to hitthe mark, I don't want anyone
buying or doing anything.
You know what I mean.
And so I'm trying to find localpeople because, number one, I
also love to support local, likehello.
But it hasn't been that easy.
So I ask for your patience.
If you are on the wait list, Iask for your patience with this,
as we, you know, iron out allthe kinks and all that.

(07:38):
So I think the biggest messageof what I want to talk to you
about today is like to you abouttoday is like it is so easy to
get caught up in what we shouldbe doing where we should be at a
certain point in our life, wejust get caught up in what we
think, where we should be andwhat we think and how we should
look and how life should be.

(07:58):
When I really ask you tochallenge that thought, I really
ask you to challenge why youhave that thought, where that
thought comes from and what'smissing in your life right now,
and when you can take some timeto reflect and think about that,
are you then able to tellyourself like, hey, what if I

(08:19):
just relaxed?
And what if everything that isgoing to come to me or has come
to me has always been exactly atthe right time when it was
supposed to happen?
So what if I just relaxed andtrusted that God's got me,
whatever that might be Like?
Maybe God's got me in my healthjourney.

(08:39):
Maybe God's got me in my weightloss journey.
Maybe God's got me in myfertility journey.
Maybe God's got me in mysignificant other and finding a
spouse, finding someone I wantto spend the rest of my life
with, whatever it may be.
What if God's got me and he'sgot a plan and my job is just to
relax into it?

(09:00):
How would that feel?
Would you feel more relaxedjust by that thought?
Because when I finally realizedthat, I literally exhaled Like
oh yeah, I can literally chillout right now and not have to
think about worst case scenario, not think about an escape plan.

(09:21):
You know what I'm talking about, where you're like okay, if
this doesn't work out, then I'mgoing to do this backdoor into
that and then we'll be fine, orI'll just put on a facade and
it'll appear like everything'sfine and it's fine.
All of those things are justburning out your nervous system,
like your adrenals gone.
But when you think about okay, this is what I really want, this

(09:45):
is what I've worked really hardto try and get and I haven't
got it yet, you know, maybe Ican just relax and enjoy right
now, because I know God's got me.
I mean, shoot, he movesmountains for people.
Can I just chill out and just domy part of trusting and
regulating my nervous system andcalming down and see what
happens.
Like what would that be like?

(10:06):
Kind of would be like peace.
It kind of would be like Ishould be freaking out right now
, but instead I'm chilling outand not working, when I really
want to be working to make money, and then like wait, but why
don't I just like go throw myfeet up on the wall and hang out
and watch the clouds go by, andwhen you do that, by the way,
that's like one of my favoritethings to do, but, by the way,

(10:26):
when you start doing this, yourbrain's going to tell you all
these mean things like what areyou doing?
You're being lazy, this isn'thow this works, you're getting
further away from your goal, andthat's just the part that you
have to then choose to believeotherwise by saying the words.
Actually, I think God's got me.
I'm going to try this wholerelaxing thing and see what
happens.
I'm going to try this wholetrusting thing and see what

(10:49):
happens, because it has changedmy life.
It has changed my life.
Anytime I start getting anxiety, anytime my brain starts
spiraling into what I haveexperienced and witnessed
firsthand, I immediately stopmyself and I say God's got me,
god's got this.
I'm not going into the old way.
I'd rather actually trytrusting something bigger when I

(11:12):
haven't even given him the fulltrust up until this point, and
it's changed everything for me.
So this was I don't know howlong was this Short, sweet, I
couldn't tell you, but I surehope you got something out of it
and I trust that you do, and ifyou love the shirt I'm wearing

says I choose faith.
Down the spine.
Love it.
But yeah, thank you for beinghere.
Send this to someone you thinkwho needs it, and it can be
people like who are healthy, doing great, who are struggling
with something and need thathope or need a reminder that,

(11:53):
like you, can just have arelationship with God outside of
religion.
Like, I'm all about going toChristian worship.
We try to go as often as we canas a family, but I ultimately I
want people to have a strongrelationship with God and build
and cultivate a relationship sothat you don't have to work so
hard.
That's ultimately what it'sabout where you don't have to
worry and stress so much.
Like stop.
Like, I want you to trust andfeel that something out there,

(12:17):
greater than you, who createdthe world, has your back, knows
your name, loves you immenselyand just is waiting for you to
fully trust that they've gotyour back.
That's it.
