Speaker 1 (00:00):
Good morning. This is send seven World News in seven minutes.
I'm Stephen Devinchenzi. Today is Wednesday, the twenty third of
July twenty twenty five, starting in Asia today. In Palestine,

(00:21):
Gaza health officials said yesterday that seventy two people were
killed by Israeli airstrikes and gunfire over the previous twenty
four hours. They also said that four children died of hunger.
The Health Ministry, which is run by Hamas, says that
one hundred and one people have died of hunger during

(00:44):
the war, mostly children. Israel controls all access of food
and other aid into Gaza and has stopped most organizations
from distributing aid, saying that it is falling into the
hands of Hamas. Twenty eight country trees normally allies of
Israel have now signed a joint statement condemning Israel for

(01:06):
not allowing enough aid into Gaza, condemning the killing of civilians,
and also calling for an end to the war, as
well as calling on Hamas to release Israeli hostages. Australia's
Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke said yesterday that the slaughter
has to end.

Speaker 2 (01:26):
What we are watching on the other side of the
world is indefensible. The hostages still need to be released,
but the war needs to end. It's a powerful statement.
It's got countries, powerful countries from all around the world
saying the same thing. The slaughter has to end.

Speaker 1 (01:43):
In Turkeia, forest fires have been spreading over the last
few days. Yesterday, near the city of Bilechik in northwestern Turkia,
there was a fire tornado, where spiraling winds caused fire
and smoke to twist the air. In Bangladesh's capital city, Dhaka,

(02:05):
there were protests yesterday after the reported death toll of
a plane crash rose to thirty one. Many protesters held
pictures of the children who were killed when the Bangladeshi
Air Force jet crashed into a school on Monday. Some
protesters suggested that authorities were hiding a much higher death toll.

(02:29):
In China, six people have been arrested after two hundred
and thirty children were poisoned by paint being put into
food at a kindergarten. A published investigation of the event
said that the school wanted to make their food look
more attractive Americas. In Brazil, Eduardo Bolsonaro, the son of

(02:56):
former president Jeer Bolsonaro has had his bank account and
other assets suspended. A Supreme Court judge ordered the suspension,
saying that Eduardo Bolsonaro may be pushing the United States
government to intervene in investigations into an alleged attempted coup.

(03:16):
After the twenty twenty two presidential election, which Jayu Bolsonaro lost,
U S President Donald Trump has threatened to impose fifty
percent tariffs on Brazilian imports if the case against Jayu
Bolzonaro continues. In Peru, the Penicore Archaeological Site has been

(03:38):
opened for visitors eight years after excavations started. Penicon is
now believed to be a city from around three thousand,
eight hundred years ago, from the Keral civilization that has
been recognized as the oldest civilization in the Americas Africa.

(04:00):
In the Democratic Republic of Congo, miners have been trapped
underground for at least four days after part of a
gold mine collapsed. It's not clear how many people are trapped,
but some other miners have said that it could be
around thirty according to Reuters. A BBC report has said

(04:22):
that people have been digging with their hands to try
to reach the miners There has been a rise in
freelance gold mining in this area of South Kibu over
the last year since gold deposits were discovered there, according
to charity medicine Sant Frontier. In the Mediterranean Sea, a

(04:43):
man trying to reach Spain from Morocco in a rubber
ring was rescued by a Spanish family boat. Newspaper El
Pais has said that it is relatively common for people
to try to cross by sea individually into the Spanish
enclaves of Salta and Melia from Morocco. However, what this

(05:06):
man was doing was very uncommon, trying to cross to
the Spanish mainland directly alone Europe. In Ukraine, Russia fired
drones at many cities. Yesterday, a ten year old boy
was killed when a Russian drone hit an apartment building

(05:26):
in the city of Kramataorsk. Russian and Ukrainian representatives are
expected to meet for talks today in Tokyo. In Switzerland,
luxury chocolate maker Lint has said that its sales are
continuing to grow despite rising chocolate prices. Lint has said

(05:47):
that in the first six months of this year, sales
in Europe have risen by about eighteen percent, at the
same time as its prices have risen around sixteen percent.
Chocolate prices around the world have risen fast over the
last two years because of poor cocoa harvests in Africa

(06:08):
and in the United Kingdom. Rock metal musician and lead
singer of Black Sabbath Ozzie Osborne has died aged seventy six.

(06:33):
John Michael Osborne was born in England in nineteen forty
eight and was a founding member of Black Sabbath in
nineteen sixty eight, with whom he gained fame during the seventies,
including both his solo work and Black Sabbath. Osborne sold
over one hundred million albums in the two thousands. A

(06:56):
reality TV show was made of his family life, called
The Osbourne's. Just three weeks ago, Osborne performed for the
last time with Black Sabbath after announcing that that would
be his last live show. A big thank you to
