Hey, beautiful soul. Welcome infor another episode of spirit
(00:46):
speakeasy. Today, we are goingto be talking about what
mediumship has taught me aboutlife purpose. I don't know about
you, but I am someone who hasbeen searching for my life
purpose for as long as I canremember, I can even remember
being as young as like, secondor third grade, thinking about,
what am I going to do with mybig life? What am I going to do
(01:09):
with the rest of my life? Whatam I going to be, or who should
I be? What's my purpose, right?
Is that true of you, too? I wasthinking about this as I was
thinking about what I wanted toshare with you this week, and
really from where I came from asa little person growing up in
this world, and what Iunderstand now about our life
(01:31):
purpose, our life path, and whatthe spirit world has shared with
me, I see things completelydifferently, so I'm going to
Give you some personal sharesalong the way, but I really
thought it could just bepowerful to explain what I've
learned up to this point, because I so often get asked
(01:51):
from clients about their lifepurpose, wanting to know either
what their life purpose is orhow to build it from there, or
if they're on the right lifepurpose. And I think one of the
challenges is, is that in ourcurrent day society, we have
equated, in most cases, lifepurpose with this capitalistic
(02:16):
pursuit, because we're so busy, because life is so expensive in
many of our countries.
Oftentimes, these days, we lookat life purpose and think, okay,
my life purpose has to also bemy profession, right? It has to
be the thing that I amsuccessful at in the world that
monetizes, that provides me thelife success that I want. And I
(02:38):
just want to start byacknowledging that that's not
always true. Sure, some peoplecan make their career and their
life purpose or the things thatthey want to experience in life
mesh, but other people don't,and that's okay, and I feel like
we need to start extricatingthose and separating those, one
(03:00):
from the other. It's an awfullot of pressure to put on
ourselves that the thing thatour soul calls us to express or
experience has to also be thething that we do business with
in the world. It just doesn'talways work that way. I'm going
to flash back and talk to you alittle bit about when I was a
(03:20):
kid and what I thought aboutlife purpose, and how that
shifted even over my years. Imany of you know I've had a lot
of pursuits in my life. I'vedone a lot of different jobs,
I've done a lot of differenteducation, and I've pursued
different things that I thoughtmight be my life purpose. I
remember when I was I must havebeen about seven or eight, and
(03:40):
my mom had she was doing someschool, and she had a job. And
then sometimes during theholiday season in Boston, she
would do some ushering work at aplace called the Wang Center,
which is a famous theater there, and they have the Boston Ballet
that does the Nutcracker everyyear. And that would be mostly
what she would be ushering forhelping people find their seats.
(04:01):
And she got to work backstagequite a bit. The Nutcracker
performance, when it's done bythe Boston Ballet, has also some
kids in it, so she would help towrangle the kids, and I would
get to go backstage. I wouldeither be home alone, or
sometimes get to go with her.
And I'd be backstage at the Wangcenter, and I'd get to be in the
dressing room with all the kidsgetting ready, and sometimes I'd
(04:23):
get to sit on the wings of thestage, if I could, be very small
and quiet, which, luckily, Icould, and it was a magical
experience overall. But one ofthe little strange things that
stuck out to me is when I was inthe dressing room with all of
the ballerinas getting ready, and I was so excited, and I was
little still, and I thought, wow, these people are so
(04:45):
incredible. I want to dance. Iwant to move my body like this.
I want to be a ballerina. Andone of the instructors that was
there, she had an accent, and Icouldn't tell you where it was
from, but I feel like possiblyFrench. Uh, she looked me up and
down, and again, I was, like, seven or eight years old. I was
a tiny little person, and shesaid, You're much too big. You
(05:08):
weigh too much. You'll never bea ballerina. And right then in
my mind, I was like, Okay, let'stake that off the list of life
purpose not built to be aballerina. And from there, it
just is this interesting pathfor me from such a small age of
trying to understand my lifepurpose. I also had this weird
little quirk. Let me know ifthis is true for any of you.
(05:30):
This is maybe a strange thingabout me, but as I dove into
things as a kid and moving intomy like adolescence, I felt like
if I picked up a new hobby orsomething that I was interested
in, I had to be the only one ofmy friend group or people I knew
doing that hobby, if a friend ofmine also picked up that hobby,
(05:50):
I felt like, Okay, well, that'sprobably their purpose, and I
shouldn't do it, and I don'twant to have a competition
situation between us, becauseI'd already had some situations
like that as a kid, and justreally felt like I had to put
something down if someone elsepicked it up. This is true for
me of music and acting andphotography and some other arts
(06:11):
in my life, because I alwaysfelt very drawn to arts. I had a
dear friend. We're a friend formuch of our childhood, and
actually still know her today, and she started getting very
involved in drama at the highschool she went to. She was just
a couple years older than me inschool, and the high school that
I had transitioned to didn'treally have drama. I had a
little bit, but her program wasmuch bigger and and much more
(06:34):
active and involved. And I justkind of felt like, okay, that's
her thing. I shouldn't pursuethis anymore. And I didn't
really pursue very much actingagain until college, and then I
started taking some classes.
When I was first in college atUMass Boston. I did some some
film study, and actually atheater class, and some other
classes sort of similar to that, and some psychology classes. So
(06:56):
it was many years that I put itaside. And then, as I my life
shifted again, and I moved toCalifornia, I put it aside
again, and didn't pick up actingfor many, many years, but was
always searching for thispurpose, and I want to just also
touch on something, because weoften think about the things
that happen to us in life, right? We all have challenges
(07:18):
and struggles. And many of ushave traumas that happen. And
there was a time in my life, soI went to Catholic school when I
was little, then elementarythrough kind of later Middle
School. Seventh grade, I was ina very rough public school. Then
I went to Christian school for acouple years, and then for my
last year and a half, a half of10th and 11th, I went to another
public school that was in like avery fancy kind of a wealthier
(07:42):
neighborhood. So I had lots ofdifferent experiences, but I had
had some pretty strong traumasin my younger life. I was really
severely bullied, which, if youguys want, we can talk about
another day. And I also had, I'mnot going to go into this, but
bit of a trigger warning. I alsohad some essay and abuse in that
vein. And then I shifted intothis Christian school, and we
(08:05):
would go every week to somethingcalled chapel, where they would
read the Bible and sing, and doyou know, kind of like a mini
church every week in our school, because I didn't go to church
with my family at the time, andI remember, in my mind, doing
this math right? The way it waspresented to us, is this idea of
God in this specific type ofchurch was all knowing and all
(08:25):
powerful and all things worktogether to serve God. And in my
mind, I had just come through alot when I transitioned to that
school, and was still goingthrough a lot, and I was really
trying to do the math in my mindand equate it to Okay. I've gone
through these things, but if Godknows everything, and God's in
charge of everything, andallowed these things to happen
(08:48):
to me, and I was just wrestlingand trying to make sense, and
the math I came up with in myprobably 1314, year old mind was
okay, certainly if God allowedall these really hard things to
happen in my life. This must bemy purpose. This must be my
purpose. And these things had tohappen to me so that I can hold
light and healing and help otherpeople who these things have
(09:12):
happened to as well.
Spoiler alert, I've now learnedthat that is not true at all.
Nor is that the way that itworks. We live in a chaotic
world. Humans have free will.
Some humans have very badintentions and use their free
will in a very terrible way. Idon't believe that there is a
puppeteer God that is allowingterrible things to happen to
(09:33):
people, especially children. Ijust believe that this is a
chaotic world, and sometimesthings happen. You've probably
heard me say this before. I dobelieve that all of the things
that happen to us in our lifecan be used and we can grow from
them and expand from them andthen basically stand on them to
express and experience andexplore life, having gone
(09:56):
through those challenges. But I.
No longer believe thank God thatthings get to happen to us
horribly, so that we can then behelpful to someone else who has
had horrible things happen. Isthat true? Certainly it could be
true, but it doesn't. It's not arequirement, and it's not why
terrible things happen. So forseveral years in there, I
(10:19):
thought, Okay, I'm supposed tobe a chaplain, I'm supposed to
be a religious leader. I'msupposed to help people
understand the teachings of Godand and I really did a lot of
work on myself then trying tounderstand my purpose, which
clearly has looped around in adifferent way. I had so many
other people what during myeducation years, tell me what
(10:40):
they thought my purpose was toopeople said I should be a
lawyer. I should be a writer. Ishould be a teacher. I should be
I was really good at debate. Ishould do something that had to
do with litigation or or debate.
And none of those things reallyfelt true to me. And really, I
think what I was waiting for wassome magical understanding to
click in. And I felt like, if Iwas on my life path, and maybe
(11:04):
this was that I was a little bitolder, probably like college
age, or maybe even when I justmoved to California, when I was,
like, about 17, is when I movedhere just before my 18th
birthday. I kind of felt like, certainly, if I am living in my
purpose and on my life path, theindication of that will be that
things will just unfold, cuelittle blue Tweety birds from
(11:26):
Cinderella movie, and the pathjust unfolding in front of me in
a joyous way, and I'm justskipping ahead, right? We know
that's not how it works, but formany years, and I know many
people that still believe thisway. I felt like certainly, if I
am in the right direction, thatthere will be a signal that
(11:47):
things will be unfolding, that Iwill be feeling happy, that
things will be smooth, thatthings will be falling into
place, that money will happen, right? Have you ever felt like
that in your life? Because Ithink especially in Western
culture. I think that'ssomething that we can get stuck
into right thinking. Well, certainly, if I find this
magical path that has been laidout before me that somehow lives
(12:08):
inside of me, even though I haveno clue about what it is, I will
know, because the result will bethat everything will work out.
I've learned that that's justnot true, and I've pursued a lot
of career paths. So I'm here totell you that what I have
discovered is, even when I'vehad success at pretty high
levels with my acting career, even though you guys have heard
(12:29):
me say before World WrestlingEntertainment WWE was not maybe
where I had my sights set aswinning looking back. I mean,
that's a fairly successfulresult of a career, right? I did
get some some internationalrecognition and success, and I
did get to work in my field, which for an actor, is kind of a
big deal to get to work anyway.
(12:50):
But what I discovered is thatpurpose really has to be less
about the outcome and more aboutthe experience along the way,
getting to explore, getting toenjoy those parts of being on
sets, or being on a production,or working with the crew,
learning lines, the messymiddle, is the work of the
(13:13):
purpose. So for some reason, formany years, and I do feel like I
see this a lot with clients andstudents and sometimes even
people I come across in life, wejust think that if we are quote,
unquote, living on purpose orliving in our purpose, that
everything else will sort itselfout and it will be easier. And
that just has not held true inmy experience. So over the
(13:36):
years, I kept, you know, pivoting and shifting and moving
in different directions to findthis purpose. And what I've
really learned through the lastmany years of doing mediumship
is that I really feel likepurpose is used and defined in
our world currently, maybedifferent than how our soul sees
(13:59):
or understands purpose, maybedifferent than how we understand
purpose from the spirit world.
So flash forward after reallyholding this religious belief in
my heart that certainly God wasgoing to help me find my purpose
many years later, after WWE,after the ice cream truck that
many of you know that I did whenI was back in health and
(14:20):
wellness and doing massagetherapy, I came across
metaphysics. That's whenmetaphysics really started to
enter my life in a differentway. It had been nudging or
knocking at the door. I readbooks by metaphysical authors. I
had watched the secret but Ididn't connect the dots that
these are metaphysical teachersthat you could continue to learn
from until much later. And thatis one of the breadcrumbs that
(14:43):
helped me step into my ownspiritual gifts, into
mediumship. And what was amazingback then, shout out Hay House.
They had something called HayHouse Radio, which is not a
thing anymore, but it wasessentially an online radio.
Platform that had all of thesedifferent spiritual teachers and
speakers that I felt wasincredible, and I started
(15:05):
hearing some of the same themesand some of the same messages
that I had heard from religion, but just in a different way, and
the way that I was hearing themmade so much more sense to me,
and so I collected thosebreadcrumbs. I had already
learned Reiki and learned a lotabout energy, and I kept moving
forward with these breadcrumbsof understanding and still
(15:27):
thinking, certainly some windowis going to open up to my
purpose, and I'm going to fallinside and be like, Hey, I found
my purpose, which, to be quitehonest, still hasn't happened in
the way that I thought that itwould. Once I really was fully
certified and developed inReiki, I thought, Oh, certainly,
(15:47):
this is going to be the thing, and people will see how healing
this is and how much it can helpus on our own personal
development, and this will bethe thing that is my purpose.
And then I started developing mypsychic reading. And then I
thought, oh, surely everyonewill want intuitive guidance,
and this will be the thing. Thismaybe is my purpose. And then my
(16:08):
mentor encouraged me to developtrance mediumship, which is a
channeling, essentially. Andthen I thought, Oh, wow. Well,
not a lot of people do that.
Certainly this is going to bethe thing. And then my
mediumship with the spirit worldstarted to happen, started to
open up, and I started trainingand developing. And I thought,
okay, certainly this will be thething. And as I trained in
(16:32):
mediumship and developed, therewere so many times on my path
that I felt like, why is thisnot moving forward? Why am I not
getting this, as I told yougrowing up, there were many
things that I just could pick upand figure out or be good at. I
could just kind of play thisdidn't feel the same. It felt
like struggle. It felt like anuphill climb. It felt like
(16:55):
feeling I often describe it asfeeling in a dark hallway,
because I felt like if I wasdoing all the steps and ticking
all the boxes, then certainlythe equation would be then
spirit would get louder, thenthe subtle energies would become
more clear. And for me, it wasjust a reorientation to
understanding how these giftswork. But step by step, as I
(17:18):
continue to expand in mymediumship, what I have noticed
over these more than 10 yearsnow is that the spirit world has
also been teaching me about lifepurpose and teaching me about
what they see their life purposeas, and in combination with
things that I've learned frommany mentors over my life and
(17:39):
Many spiritual teachers, including my mediumship mentor,
Andy Bing. Shout out to Andy.
I really understand the souldifferently. I understand how we
come into human form and whatour intentions are a little
differently. So I want to sharea little bit about that, because
it's been really profound injust reordering the way I think
(18:00):
about it. But I also want to sayhere that you know, it's not my
intention to disappoint anyone, but thinking that someone is
going to be able to magicallygive us a golden ticket and say,
Okay, this is your purpose. Goto this university, study this
thing, climb this ladder, andyou will have all of the success
and recognition. You will feellike you are enough. You will
(18:22):
have a windfall of money. That'snot real. That's something that
was kind of sold to many of us,myself, and raise your hand if
this is you, sold to many of usin our movies and TV and stories
we were told as kids, and wethought, if we do all these
right things, that we will feelfulfilled. And that's what I
want to talk about, that feelingof fulfillment, because
(18:44):
sometimes that is connected toour job, and sometimes it's not.
And again, I want to talk aboutlife purpose, not necessarily
being connected to our work inthe world, our job that pays our
bills, right. Purpose caninclude so many more facets of
us from a soul perspective andwhat our soul wants to
(19:07):
experience, what our soul'spurpose is. The purpose of our
soul coming into humanincarnation is not necessarily
the same agenda that our humanworld has constructed in
capitalist societies right now,our soul doesn't necessarily
come in and like, Okay, I'mgoing to get on this capitalist
program, and I'm going to learnfrom a young age what my skills
(19:27):
are and build it into somethingthat monetizes. Right? It's a
part of the way that we functionin the world now. But the reason
I keep harping on this isbecause for many people, for
most people, those things thatyou want to experience, that
your soul wants you toexperience, do not necessarily
match the job that you have orthe career that you do, and
(19:50):
that's okay. Can we findelements of it in our work?
Probably in 99.9% of jobs, youcan find elements of fulfillment
in your work. But in most jobs, even as a medium, I have to have
fulfillment in other places aswell, because if I'm depending
on entire fulfillment, completefulfillment, from my work as a
(20:12):
medium, it's just not going tocome that way. You're hanging
too much on that job, right? Somy encouragement here is to just
start opening your mind aboutwhat purpose means now, what I
understand from the spirit worldand from my own experience in
meditations, and what I'velearned over this time is that
(20:34):
our soul comes into thisincarnation, right, comes into
the physical body with a groupof qualities and characteristics
in different proportions foreach of us, different skills,
different abilities. We all areequally amazing and equally
challenged in different ways. Weall are incredibly powerful and
(20:55):
unique, and we all are equallyordinary. So I know in the
metaphysical work, we talk abouteverybody being special and
nobody being special, right? Ithink that's true. And as we
develop as a human being, thosequalities of our soul rise to
the surface, recede into thebackground and move around,
right? Often, people will say,Have you ever heard someone say
(21:17):
like, oh, what color is my aura?
It's all the colors all the timein different layers and
different proportions, and itmoves around like a lava lamp.
So those colors, those qualitiesof us move as we need them, as
we move through the phases ofour life, as we move through the
challenges of our life. Andsometimes, certain qualities
don't rise to the surface untilwe have gone through certain
(21:39):
life experiences, certain partsof growth that we need to have
to experience in order to stepinto another part of our
purpose. I don't think ourpurpose is linear, and I don't
think our purpose is a job. Ithink it's more experiential.
Part of my purpose is to be amom because I have kids in the
(22:00):
world, and to love those kidsand continue to grow and move
with them. And as part of that, there's a requirement to keep
working on myself. If you havekids in the world, whether
they're bio kids or just kidsthat you love or kids that you
mentor, you know that thoserelationships can be challenging
and can light up a lot of thingsin us to work on. So part of our
(22:22):
purpose is continuing to work onourselves and understand Who are
you now? What qualities do youwant to express now? What do you
want to prioritize, as far asexperiences, right? And that
doesn't mean necessarilyexplaining your dream vacation
to me, although sure that couldbe part of what you want to
(22:44):
experience, it's more aboutthose qualities that make you
you, that you want to pursue, want to explore, want to expand
upon, just as a natural part ofyou again stripping away this
need to monetize. We'll talkabout that again in a few
minutes, but just for now, staywith me here about thinking of
those qualities of you. And ifit's too hard to think about
(23:08):
yourself, you can think aboutsomeone else that you care
about. Sometimes we can moreclearly see these type of
qualities in someone else thanourselves. Often it's things
like the way we support othersthe way that we can see
something for another that wecan't see for ourselves, these
humanitarian aspects of us, forsome of us, we might experience
and be be needing to expressqualities around leadership,
(23:33):
qualities around being ateacher, qualities around being
some version of an unofficialtherapist or support person or a
compassionate holder of space, right? Others feel called or
feel interested curious. That'sa calling that's often how it
feels initially. If it's notthis huge calling on your heart
(23:56):
that from the time you'relittle, you knew you wanted to
be a doctor. That's true for afew people. But if it's not true
for you, and you keep thinking,What is my purpose? Please
listen, because I think I canguide you in the right direction
here. What are those qualitiesof you that you just either need
to express or that getexpressed, whether you like it
(24:17):
or not? What do I mean by that,I mean that for me, from the
time I was a kid, I was gettingput in leadership positions,
even if I didn't raise my handfor it, I ended up being, you
know, when you're a kid and yousit at those like group tables.
I ended up being table captain.
I ended up being teachershelper. I ended up being captain
(24:41):
for sports teams, even if Ididn't want to be. So it's just
those natural leadershipabilities. And it doesn't mean
that you have to have been inleadership positions before even
it's just knowing that you cantake the lead, you can handle
things, you can see things froma different perspective. For
some people, we're talking abouthealing job. Just a second ago,
(25:01):
let's just say hypothetically, that one of the qualities your
soul wants to express in thislifetime is healing, but you
don't feel called to medicine.
This was me. I collected everylittle wounded bird. I was
trying to save bugs and littleboxes and recover them. I had
such an empathic ability, Icould feel other people's
(25:22):
emotions. I could feel when hardthings were going on. But as a
kid, the last thing I would havewanted to be was like an actual
doctor. I was terrified ofdoctors, and that's a whole
nother story for another day,but I knew like not doctor, and
it wasn't until much, much, muchlater, that I understood how all
these puzzle pieces cametogether, and how I could
express the energy of healing,of supporting, of holding space
(25:45):
for people. But it didn't haveto look only one way. So just
starting to think about insteadof purpose, what are the
qualities of you as a soul inthis lifetime? What are the
qualities of you as a humanbeing that make you feel
fulfilled, right? And again, this is not a monetary
fulfillment. It could be at somelevel, in some degree, for some
(26:08):
people, but take that off of it,just for now. Maybe for you,
it's creativity, right? We allhave versions of creativity, and
maybe you feel fulfilled whenyou're doing some holiday
baking, maybe you feel fulfilledwhen you're designing a living
room. Maybe you feel fulfilledwhen you're plucking away on an
(26:29):
instrument and making a songjust for yourself, or making a
different creative expression.
It's starting to reorientourselves, and instead of
thinking of it as this one paththat we're meant to march, that
we will march our whole life, and this will provide us with
sense of worthiness, feeling ofbeing loved, feeling that we're
(26:51):
worthy of love, feeling thatwe're enough, feeling that it
satisfies our fear of scarcity.
We're attaching a lot of thingsto this idea of purpose, instead
of thinking of it as needing tocover all of those areas, what
if purpose is actually thosequalities that our soul wants to
express in this lifetime andagain, when we have these
(27:13):
qualities? Is there the highestexpression of those qualities?
Sure? Is there barely expressingthose qualities? Sure. But I
also believe our soul is notattached to at what point on our
timeline we express orexperience those qualities. So
perhaps for you, you feel likeyou want to nurture people and
(27:36):
you want to support people, andmaybe you haven't gotten to do
that in your life yet, but it'snot too late. There's always
time to explore more of thosequalities of us. It's why to
really find our purpose, or toknow that we are in our current
purpose. Because I also don'tbelieve we have one purpose for
our entire lives. I believe thatthe qualities about us and the
(27:58):
things that we choose to explorein life, plus the experiences
that we have along the way, whether they happen to us or we
choose them, those things allget braided together and become
what we have access to our lifeexperience, what we've learned,
what we've studied, what we'vetaken on board the directions
we've chosen, plus just who weare as a natural soul, right?
(28:19):
All of that is part of whatexpands into some version of
purpose, or what we want toexperience, what our soul wants
us to experience in life. Andfor me, one of the ways that I
continue to know that somethingis still for me is I still feel
interested in it. But let meclear up something really
(28:41):
clearly, I guess is the way tosay it really quickly, just
because it is a quality thatyour soul wants to express, just
because you're capable ofexpressing it, and just because
you're focusing on expressingthis specific quality to the
highest degree that you candoesn't mean it's going to flow
(29:02):
easily or seamlessly or withouteffort, and even when we are
putting our effort in thatdirection, it doesn't mean that
it's going to feel linear oreasy or fun all the time. This
was really surprising to me,because there were many times on
my mediumship journey that Ithought, certainly, if
mediumship is for me, it willstart becoming easier. There
will start to be more of a flow.
(29:25):
But that is, again, why youalways hear me talking about the
importance of personaldevelopment working through our
stuff, whether it's trauma orhard experiences or whether it's
stuff that we just thinkdifferently about now, right? We
all have different versions ofloss or hurdles or challenges in
our life, and as we grow andexpand, we can look at those in
(29:46):
different ways and differentangles. And the truth is, there
are always things being I saylit up, is the way I usually say
it triggered is another way tosay it in us to learn and grow
from we are in a messy worldwith lots of other messy. And
sometimes someone might saysomething to you that lights you
up or triggers you, and thenit's your responsibility to go
(30:06):
back and look at why did thatperson's opinion send me in such
a spiral? What is going on inme? Do I feel like I don't have
enough experience to be doingthis thing I'm being criticized
about, for example, or do I feellike I am in integrity? Is there
something in me I need to lookat right so it's continuing to
peel back those layers of us tounderstand ourselves more and
(30:27):
more, and why I'm including thisis because there are so many
people recently, within the lastcouple years, that have come to
me and said, Joy. I felt like Iwas living my purpose. I felt
like I did like my career, or Idid like this element of the
earlier part of my life, and nowsomething's shifting in me, and
I feel like I don't know if Iwant to be in this field
(30:48):
anymore. I don't know if I feelsatisfied in this job anymore. I
don't know if I'm still livingin my purpose or what I'm
supposed to do. And I want tohighlight that little phrase,
what I'm supposed to do. I don'tbelieve that there are certain
things that we are supposed todo, right? That's us living on
behalf of the world. What doesthe world want me to do? What
(31:10):
does the world need me toachieve? Instead of looking
within and saying, Am I feelingfulfilled in the areas of my
life, right? And of course, itcould include your job, but it
doesn't have to looking at therelationships of your life. Are
you cultivating meaningful, deeprelationships with other souls
in this world? And I think mostof you know this by now, but I'm
(31:33):
a bit introvert, extrovert, Iguess, and so I don't
necessarily keep tons and tonsof people close to me. I have a
small circle of people that Ilove very much. I have a lot of
people in the world that I lovevery much, but I keep a small
circle of close friends andfamily members. And what I look
at is, am I engaging andcultivating Am I giving them
(31:55):
access to me? Am I having accessto them? Am I really seeing
them? Am I really making themfeel heard? Am I really
prioritizing these people that Icare about, and that is part of
our purpose in life, to haverelationships, to have
experiences, to I hate to sayit, but to bump up against
(32:15):
things that feel hard. That ispart of our purpose. That is
part of why we came here, because if we think about, what
does purpose actually mean, purpose means fulfilling the
reason that we came into thisincarnation, into this body,
into this life, in this time, right? I've always thought it
was a little strange thatsociety positions it to us as
(32:36):
like this mystical purpose thatwe are supposed to somehow
figure out on our own, and oftenwe're expected to do it before
we enter college, right? Wedidn't know what we're going to
be. And then we're supposed tochoose something, stick with it,
fight as hard as we can, climbthe ladder, often pushing over
(32:56):
other skilled and talentedpeople to achieve some version
of success that makes usacceptable, that makes us
lovable, that makes us worthy, and that also somehow magically
fulfills everything in us thatdoesn't sound real, and I've
chased it for a lot of years, and I just don't feel like it is
real. And the more I work withthe spirit world over these
(33:19):
years, what has been sofascinating to me, without
giving any names or too manyspecific details, so that I keep
my commitment to privacy for myclients, I can tell you that
I've met a good handful ofnotable people on the other
side. And of course, each of usis notable in our own lives, in
(33:39):
our own worlds, to the peoplethat love us. So no disrespect
to anyone, but I've gotten theprivilege to work with a number
of spirit people from the otherside for their loved ones, my
clients who have been eitherwell known scholars, well known
humanitarians, some well knownpublic figures and musicians.
(34:00):
And what has been fascinating tome, when I kind of look over it
over the years, is that whatthose souls want to express is
typically not, oh, look at howgreat I was in my life and how
much success that I have. I'mthinking of one in particular
that keeps standing out in mymind. I'm not going to name
names, but this is a quitefamous musician of the past.
(34:24):
Most people would know who thiswas, just by name if you have
lived within the last 40 years.
And what this person wasexpressing to my client was very
sweet, tender memories ofyouthful times together and this
(34:44):
connection. And actually, I didend up knowing through this
person, the spirit person'scommunication, that they were a
musician. And what was sobeautiful about that is I knew
that this person had written andprovided music to the world.
Touched a lot of hearts. I knewthat they had performed on very
large stages, which was true, but what they were expressing as
(35:07):
part of this communication wasthat very small, intimate venues
with very few people, or eventimes where this person was just
with an instrument and sharingtheir gift with their friend
group or with a small group ofpeople that they had met. That's
when they felt the mostconnected. That's when this
(35:28):
person felt the most vibrant intheir gift. That's what they
expressed as their favoritetimes of sharing their musical
gifts with the world, plus theyreally went on with my client to
acknowledge the beauty of therelationship and the connection
of the relationship they hadhad, and the appreciation that
(35:49):
they had for my client as beinga loving, supportive, non
judgmental person on their path, that they felt connected to. So
it's fascinating to me that fromthe other side. What the spirit
world is wanting to share aboutis the love, the connection, the
real moments and sometimes hardmoments they do express when
(36:12):
they've gone through somethingreally challenging, and often
what they've learned from thaton this side and on the other
side. So just know that evenwhen we are doing something that
fulfills us, it doesn't meanthat nothing else will be
chaotic. Even when we are havingwhat we would deem, in our
current world as success in onearea, it doesn't mean that all
(36:34):
the other areas are going tocooperate. So if we are
demanding that all the puzzlepieces be in place and life be
smooth sailing, and that is howwe are going to know that we are
on purpose or living in ourpurpose. I hate to be the bearer
of bad news, but you're probablynot going to feel purposeful,
because I can only think ofmaybe a handful of moments in my
(36:55):
life where everything was okayat the same time, and everyone I
loved was okay and every one washad enough and and, I mean, I,
most of us can look outside andsee people who don't have
enough. So if we are waiting foreverything to be perfect or
ideal, to feel like we're livingon purpose, just know that
that's it's probably not thebest goal point to set right?
(37:19):
And that's the other piece ofit. What the spirit world has
taught me is that ourfulfillment, our purpose, the
expression of our qualities ofour soul, right? It's not a goal
point. It's not a Okay, well,once I get here, then I can
live, then I can love, then Ican exhale. Really, we're doing
(37:40):
purpose and doing expression thewhole way, the whole time, and
it's how we interact withothers, and it's how we enjoy
other people's expressions, andhow we become vulnerable and
share our deepest expressionswith other people, right? So
just know that if you're someonewho's feeling like, What is my
purpose? How do I find mypurpose? It you're the only one
(38:04):
who can find your purpose.
Someone else, like a medium, anintuitive can do a reading for
you and tell you the qualitiesthat your soul wants to express.
But I can almost guarantee thatyou know what they are. You
know, if you're someone wholikes to communicate, who likes
to express. You're someone, youknow if you're someone who wants
to express through writing andwho who doesn't want to be seen,
(38:26):
right? Maybe you want to be aghost writer for other people,
and you feel like you don't wantto tell your story, but you want
to tell other people's stories.
You probably know if you're theperson who wants to be out
front, telling your story on aplatform or podium, or if you're
someone who wants to be morebehind the scenes, you probably
know if you feel like you'resomeone who is more drawn to
(38:49):
expressing or experiencing arts, theater, music, painting, dance
writing, or if you're someonewho really gets lit up By
exploring sciences, right? Andmaybe you prefer to be on a
microscope than at an easel, right? So it's looking within
and understanding more. Rememberintimacy, intimacy? So it's that
(39:14):
intimate relationship withyourself as it relates to the
world at large. What parts ofyou, those private, personal,
experienced parts of you, areyou willing to share and express
and explore? And it can feelscary, but part of sharing our
gifts with the world, I believethat's part of our purpose is to
(39:37):
share our gifts with the world.
And for some people, that mightbe spiritual gifts for other
people, there's all kinds ofgifts, right? And I have to say
the other, the other piece ofthis that I want to make sure to
include. I had so many thoughtsI didn't make a lot of notes for
this episode because I wanted itto be a little more of a
personal share. And I had somany thoughts that I didn't make
notes of them. But one of the,one of the things I wanted. To
(39:58):
make sure to express was, it'sreally the relationships in our
lives, and it can be personalrelationships. It can also be
relationships with those that weserve, right? But that really is
where most of the purpose lies.
I think about those of us thathave our own kids, or those of
(40:20):
us that love or support kids inthe world. Do you feel like I'll
use my own kids, for example, even though I just was listening
to a different podcast and theywere talking about their kids,
and this person's a world classathlete, and talking about that
when they go home to their kids, their kids don't care if they
just won the medal or, you know, did the thing on TV for the
(40:42):
prize. They only care about thatthat's their parent, and they're
bossy with their own parent in away that people in the world who
appreciate the gifts are not arenot right. So from that little
kid's perspective, their parentspurpose is to love them and be
with them and support them andtheir dreams, and they don't
care what their parent does. SoI know I said I was going to use
my own kids, but with my kids, they Yeah, of course. They
(41:06):
understand what I do at thispoint. And even when I was on TV
and when I was working as anactor, did they enjoy that, and
did they think it was fun andget a kick out of it? Sure, was
it an interesting part of theirchildhood? Sure, but they don't
care what everyone else in theworld wants of me. They care
that they have access to me.
24/7 when they need me, theycare how I show up for them, and
that my daughter said this to merecently that I keep trying to
(41:29):
continue to work on myself to bea better mom to her as she
continues to grow and expand andshe doesn't need me to be the
same mom to her at 25 that shedid when she was four. Sometimes
I wish but, but it's differentnow, right? So that for me is
maybe the greatest purpose.
(41:52):
It's, you know, people willforget what we said. Maya
Angelou, right? People willforget what we said or what we
did, but they will remember howwe made them feel and that goes
for us, too, if we're rakingourselves over the coals over
and over, oh, what's yourpurpose? What are you supposed
to be doing? And I did it formany years. I picked something
up. I'd try, I'd get somesuccess, and then I feel like,
(42:13):
well, yeah, I could make thisbusiness go more but I just
don't love it, and I want to dosomething I love that I feel
passionate about, right? So Iwould put that down and on to
the next thing. I've been kindof criticized for this over my
life, because I do just kind ofknow when I'm done with
something and when I'm ready topick up the next thing. But it's
not a jump like that for me. Forme, let's look at my massage
(42:35):
therapy and body work practice.
Yeah, I was also doing Reiki, but I wasn't formally doing
readings at the time, andreadings mediumship started to
come to me, and I started to beaware of spirit people and no
information. And then I mentoredfor many, many years, I was
still doing massage andmentoring and mediumship on the
side, because that's what feltinteresting, that's what felt
(42:57):
exciting. That's what fulfilledme. And I didn't know if I was
going to make that a business ornot. I didn't know if that was
even possible for me, right? Soit's not necessarily about the
end result. It's about what doesyour soul want to enjoy along
the way? What are you curiousabout? What holds your
curiosity, even if it frustratesyou? I think that's the
(43:19):
important piece too, becauseDon't think that just because
these spiritual gifts are quote, unquote natural gifts, that
they're not frustrating. Theyare. It's work, it's effort,
it'sso much personal development
that goes into expressing thesespiritual gifts. And I'm not
saying this to discourageanyone, because I do love this
work, and I love getting to havethis form of expression. But the
(43:41):
way Andy said it, and he hadtold me that he learned this
from a medium of the past calledGordon Higginson that was one of
his mentors. Gordon Higginsonran the spiritualist national
union for many years, and theArthur Findlay College, which is
the mediumship and psychic artscollege in the UK and Stansted.
You can look it up. It's alovely place, but, and I'm going
(44:03):
to probably misquote, becausethis is a telephone quote,
meaning, like through a personto another person, to another
person. But the story goes thatGordon would say, Gordon was a
powerful, profound medium, butalso had a shoe cobbler
business. And the story goesthat Gordon would say, if there
is another job you can do, andAndy says this too, if there's
(44:25):
another business, another jobthat you can do that sustains
your life, do it and do yourmediumship or your spiritual
gifts as a hobby or as a passionor as a project, because once we
put the pressure to monetize onthe spiritual gifts, it becomes
much harder. There's avulnerability of the expression
of these spiritual gifts, andwhen we are having to worry
(44:50):
about if our client's going toleave us a bad review, or if
someone's going to be mad at us,or if someone's not going to
like what we say, it does makeit feel a lot harder. And I
think I'm just throwing this inhere to partially acknowledge so
many of you that listen to thispodcast and are a part of this
community, very valuable part,by the way, and I love you all
so much. Just know that youprobably do have gifts. You
(45:13):
probably do have gifts that yoursoul wants to explore and wants
to express, and it probably ispart of the purpose of this
lifetime for you, but it doesn'tmean that you have to set up an
end goal and reach it. Itdoesn't mean that it has to look
only one way. It doesn't have tobe attached to only a certain
outcome or to a capitalisticmonetization to be your quote,
(45:36):
unquote, purpose, right? So Ijust feel like we need to rework
that word purpose in our societyand maybe move it towards
expression fulfillment, more ofsomething that contains all of
those because the spirit worldteaches me over and over and
over, not only through what theychoose to communicate, but also
(45:57):
through the regrets that theychoose to share. And it's not
regrets about not climbinghigher on their proverbial
corporate ladder of whatever jobthey did. It's often regrets
about not taking the time toreally understand their loved
ones, or really be present withtheir loved ones, or sometimes
they express regrets about notworking on themselves, or not
(46:20):
understanding challenging partsof their own personality and how
they affected their loved ones, because just thinking about our
work in the world really ismissing what I think is the main
part of purpose. The spiritworld acknowledges purpose as a
level of love, the most lovingchoices we make for ourselves,
(46:41):
the most loving choices we makefor others, but coming from a
place an intention of love, expression through love, what
are you passionately needing toexplore or express? And the
other bit of it that I reallywant to lock in for you is I was
under some strange illusion, probably because I watched a lot
(47:02):
of media as a kid, but thatalmost like time will stand
still and your purpose will fallfrom the sky as this, knowing
that drops in and you will alight bulb will go off in your
mind, and you will know I amsupposed to be a zoologist, or
whatever it is, that didn'thappen for me, and it didn't
(47:23):
happen for most people I havemet in the world. So if you're
one of those people, just knowthat I don't believe that's how
purpose often comes in, becauseas part of these qualities that
our soul comes in with, we don'tnecessarily have access to all
of them at one time. What do Imean if we're born as a little,
tiny human being with all of thecore qualities of our soul,
(47:44):
certainly there are things weneed to learn and experience
while we go through this worldfor those qualities to develop
and sometimes for certainqualities to rise to the
surface. It's why you've heardme say that not all mediums have
their mediumistic gifts as akid, is it living somewhere deep
inside your soul? Yeah, sure, but it needs to move to the
(48:05):
surface. Your soul needs to movethat gift of mediumship to the
surface. We can't force thegifts to the surface. They have
to come up naturally. It's whyit is said that even the best
teacher cannot make you a mediumif you're not having mediumistic
experiences in some way alreadydoesn't mean that it doesn't
exist within you. It just meansthat's not ripe, it's not ready,
(48:26):
it's not come to the surfaceyet. So just know that as you
continue to experience andexplore and express and be
curious in life, other thingswill call your interest, and
there's not only one path to getto what your soul wants to
experience. There's lots ofpaths. There's lots of ways that
you can go, lots of collectionof experiences you could have to
(48:47):
then, hypothetically, make yourgifts ready to be explored. It
doesn't have to be spiritualgifts. It can be just about
anything, but sometimes it'sonly going through certain
experiences that we get accessto these parts of our soul, it's
only through following certainbreadcrumbs and picking them up
and getting curious and movingin that direction, and that is
(49:10):
part of our free will, and it'swhy I believe our soul is not
necessarily attached to the jobthat we do or what we become in
the world, but more concernedabout our experiences and our
expression. So if you feel likeyou're starting to feel a stir
around wanting to deep, deeper, more deeply understand your
(49:31):
purpose, or deepen yourunderstanding of yourself or
your spiritual gifts, it'sthrough the breadcrumbs. It's
almost never going to be a giantlight bulb that just goes off
and then the path is made clearto you once in a blue moon. I
think that can happen, but Idon't think it's kind of the
standard way it works for us. Ibelieve that there are
breadcrumbs presented to us.
(49:53):
Maybe you go to a presentationand you get very curious about
really. Writing, or maybe you goto someone else's dinner party,
and then you get very curiousabout a recipe, and you think, I
wonder if I could make thatrecipe, even if you're not a
cook, right? And then you followthat breadcrumb, and you do some
research, and you do somedifferent trials of this recipe,
(50:16):
and you discover, oh my gosh, Ido really love to cook. How else
could I use this, right? So Ithink so often we are
conditioned to want to lookoutside of ourself, for someone
else, to give us an answer, giveus the cheat codes, right, so
that we can just get on with italready. That's not at all our
purpose. That's not at all whywe're here. It is in the
(50:39):
unfolding. It is in theexpansion and the exploration
and the picking up thosebreadcrumbs and being curious
and just being willing toexplore. I believe our purpose
is a collection of experiencesand not one job or one path that
we march our whole entire life.
And even if you are someone, let's just say I used to have a
client that was a profoundresearcher in brain studies and
(51:04):
studies, specifically at a veryhigh level of research,
advancing Alzheimer's anddementia, those types of
conditions. And while thisperson is incredibly
accomplished in this area, thisis not the only area of their
life. I don't believe their soulwould be fulfilled if they only
(51:24):
focused on the research andnothing else. Is that incredibly
important and doing a wonderfulservice to the world?
Absolutely, is it incredibleoffering of not just this
scientist, but also the teamsthat they have worked with over
the years. For sure, this personactually also teaches and
teaches what they know, andthat's a fulfilling aspect. It's
(51:46):
not just the research aspect, right? Not only teaches on
bigger stages in the world aboutthese conditions, but also to
students who are learning andresearchers and doctors and
medical professionals. But wecould look at it and say, Oh,
that's that person's purpose,for sure. It's not what that
person always did. It's nottheir passion hobby. They
(52:08):
actually have a totallydifferent passion hobby, working
with animals that has nothing todo with the research or the
science or this incredibleoffering that they're making to
the world. Their passion issomething totally different, and
the relationships that they haveand this spiritual exploration
in their life don't tie back totheir work whatsoever, and
(52:28):
that's how they feel fulfilled.
And the truth is, those elementsof this person's life, just like
any of us, is true for all ofus, work together, so when they
are off doing their animal workthat they love to do. It is
inspiring them or freeing uptheir energy, so that when they
(52:49):
do go back to the lab or back toteaching, they have more
inspiration. Their energy isrecharged. They can be fulfilled
in a different way. So it's notso one note, this idea of
purpose, life, purpose, it'smore of a symphony. It's more of
what other elements are youworking into weaving, into
(53:09):
braiding, into the symphony thatis your life's offering. And
when we're on the spirit side, Ibelieve all of us gets to look
at the life that we have livedin this lifetime. Look at the
connections we've made, therelationships, the people who
we've touched, whether we knowit or not, emotionally, the
offering that we've made to theworld. But I don't believe our
(53:33):
offering is only one note. Ibelieve we are meant to have
full, well rounded humanexperiences filled with
highlights and happiness and joyand wonderful moments, but also
tempered and sprinkled withgrief and with loss and with
some really hard questions andsituations that we have to face,
(53:57):
that we get to choose how tothen alchemize those things in
our life, in our past, whetherfor you it's trauma or whether
for you, you had an idyllicchildhood, and that set you up
in a strange way. It'salchemizing Those ingredients
we've been given, continuing tolet curiosity lead to pick up
those bread crumbs, to use ourfree will to explore, and then
(54:20):
those things that we want tokeep continuing to braid into
our own personal symphony thatwe're offering the world, and
those things that we decide arenot for us, it doesn't mean it's
a waste of time. This is where Ibelieve that adage, of all
things can work together for thegreatest good. I don't mean I
don't think it means thateverything happens to us for a
(54:43):
reason. I think it means thatall the things that happen to
us, we can choose to learn, expand, grow and explore and
express from them, and that'swhat helps create purpose. I
hope that makes sense. Soreally, just starting to think.
About your own purpose in life, your own fulfillment, the
(55:04):
expression of the qualities ofyou. And if you are someone
who's searching for morefulfillment, more purpose, I
really believe that the key islooking within. What are the
parts of you that you loveexpressing? What are the parts
of you that you feel challengedin expressing, and I know that
because I do this podcast, Iexpress a lot. You guys hear me
(55:25):
talking a lot, but there's stilla lot of things within myself
that I wrestle with, that Istruggle with, that I pull
apart, that I'm looking at, theparts of myself that I don't
present publicly, the parts ofmyself that have been through
really hard, things that stillrise up for me, that I still
work on and work through. We allhave those. Don't let that be
(55:46):
the signifier of whether youhave fulfilled a purpose. It's
are you real time feelingfulfilled, feeling curious,
feeling pulled forward, orfeeling
like there's something shiny upahead that you're curious about,
right? It doesn't have to be anattachment to an end result. I
feel like that's a culturalconditioning of our world, that
(56:10):
it has to be attached to an endresult. Are you playing baseball
so that you can be the best onyour rec league baseball team
and show everyone and getattention that way and feel
loved that way. Or are youplaying baseball on your rec
league so you can have exerciseand fun and community and yeah,
(56:31):
maybe you can help out along theway to win the championship, but
it's more for the experience ofit, right? So while I do know
that in our world. We do oftenneed goals. We do need outcomes.
That's part of what we need tolive, part of what we need to
pay our bills. I don't believethat it is totally intertwined
(56:53):
with our purpose. I believethose things can be worked
together, but they don't have tobe completely bound to one
another. So I would invite youto start thinking about those
qualities that your soul wantsto express, those qualities that
you are curious about. And it'sthrough that learning, that
curiosity, that picking up thatthing, whether it's a spiritual
(57:15):
gift or an instrument or amicroscope, and playing and
letting yourself get curious.
And for me, the reason that Icontinue to pursue mediumship. I
mean, if you really knew me andknew my whole life story, I've
done a lot of different thingsjust because that's how my
curiosity moves, that's how mymind moves, that's how my energy
moves. And if I, if I don't,explore other things along the
(57:38):
way it just really deflates meand leaves me not feeling great.
So I'm I'm often exploring morethan one thing at a time, even
if I don't know if it's evergoing to braid into my purpose,
if it's ever going to be part ofmy expression of mediumship, or
what I want to share in theworld with you guys, or the
overall symphony of my life, itmight never quite braid in.
Might be just something I'minterested in, just something
(58:01):
for me, I do believe we we it'svery important for us to explore
those things, even if it's notgoing to ever monetize, even if
it's not going to ever lenditself to your career, we can
learn from everything. First ofall, I think we all know that,
but it's about exploringyourself and your expression and
how you express the qualities, those unique qualities and
(58:25):
unique blend of qualities thatonly you possess. We each have
our own signature blend ofqualities, right? We might have
many of the same qualities ofsomeone else, but through our
own lens, through our own humanexperience through our own
expression. They're all slightlydifferent in the way we can
apply them. So those unique, that unique, special blend of
(58:47):
qualities that is you, thesecret sauce of you. What are
those qualities? What does lightyou up the most? Is it when
you're sharing yourself withother people? Is it when you're
hearing other people's stories?
Is it when you're creating? Isit when you're using your brain
power and really mentallyprocessing or researching or
(59:09):
figuring something out like apuzzle? It's knowing yourself,
what are the qualities of you?
And then that frees you up to becurious, right? And if we're
releasing this attachment tooutcome or monetization. Could
you just be curious about thething you're curious about?
Could you just take a class forfun? Could you just watch
(59:29):
something a documentary becauseyou're interested in the
information? Could you just havea relationship with someone
that's not built on networking, and how are you exploring the
relationships of your life? Andhow are you knowing others and
allowing yourselves to be known?
And I think you guys know thisbecause I say it a lot, I don't
(59:51):
think we have to be known byeverybody or not in the same
degree. So who are you choosingto really let into your
vulnerable. World, and how areyou growing in those
relationships? That's all partof your purpose, that's all part
of being fulfilled as a humanbeing. So there's no magic wand
here. There's no special pill toswallow that is going to tell
(01:00:14):
you your purpose and how tomonetize it, because I don't
believe those things have to gotogether. And really, when the
spirit world expresses regret, besides what we were talking
about earlier, about theemotional connection or wishing
they had been more present, sometimes it is around things
like, you know, I wish I letmyself have more days off. Or I
(01:00:35):
wish I, kind of, you know, howwe hear that saying, smelled the
roses. I wish I smelled theroses along the way. I wish I
took time to understand myemotions so that I could be a
better whatever, dad, brother, sister, friend, grandma. So I
really want to encourage you aspart of understanding your
(01:00:56):
purpose and your ideal work inthe world and what you need to
express, to start looking withinat yourself. What are the top 10
qualities of you? And rememberthe other side of that coin, the
challenge side of our qualitiesthat is part of us, and that is
part of our purpose to explore, express and quite frankly, often
(01:01:21):
that challenged part inside ofeach of us, whatever it is for
us as an individual, that isoften one of the keys to moving
forward in your own fulfillment.
Often we hold ourselves back bybeing stuck in certain emotions
or beliefs or patterns by thelens that we look through, or
the judgments that we haveright, the fears that we hold.
(01:01:42):
These are the things that holdus back from exploring
ourselves, from exploring whatwe want to express in the world.
And let me just give youpermission right now, before we
close out that your offering tothis world, your purpose, if you
will, part of it's beingfulfilled, and that's probably
(01:02:03):
not going to look the samethrough your entire life. So
what makes you feel fulfilledtoday might not still make you
feel fulfilled in five years, 10years, 20 years, 100 years, if
you get it. So just reallystarting to crack the egg of
potential and life purpose opena little bit looking at what are
(01:02:23):
the qualities that you bringwhat are the qualities you want
to expand in yourself? What arethe things in this world that
you're curious about that makeyou have questions or want to
explore deeper? And how arelittle ways that you can start
integrating that exploration ofthe things that you're curious
(01:02:43):
about, of yourself, of how youconnect with others in the
world, of what you might have tooffer. And the truth is, most of
us what we have to offer. It isour story. It is our unique way
of moving in the world. Theseare all part of our unique
collection of gifts, and ifwe're using our purpose or our
(01:03:04):
work in the world to find thatworthiness of being loved or
that feeling of being complete,it's never going to work,
because we cannot feel Completefrom just one element of our
lives again, it's a symphony,right? It's not a ladder. So I'm
so curious to know, what is thecurrent fulfillment or direction
(01:03:29):
or purpose of your life, and isit changed? Has it changed from
when you were younger? Is itchanged from what you thought
you were going to do, the thingsthat you've learned in life. Are
you using that collection ofexperiences towards a symphony
in a different way than maybeyou thought you would? Or are
you someone who still feels likeI'm still searching for
(01:03:51):
fulfillment, I'm still searchingfor purpose, I'm still searching
for what lights me up? Andagain, I think the key to that
and through that is just pickingup the breadcrumbs of what you
feel curious about and lettingthem move you to the next thing.
Because if you would have toldme when I was an actor and when
I was on giant stages in frontof 10s of 1000s of people, that
(01:04:13):
one day I would be talking tothe dead, talking to spirit
people on the other side, Iwould have laughed right in your
face. And many points along theway between then and now, I
would have thought that's crazy.
But it was only through pickingup the breadcrumbs of what felt
good to me, what fulfilled me,what made me feel curious or
(01:04:38):
intrigued. And I started thesentence earlier, I realized,
and I didn't finish it, one ofthe things that keeps me locked
into mediumship, it's notbecause it's easy. When it's
great, it feels amazing as amedium and it feels so connected
and so beautiful. But when it'shard, it sends me soul search.
(01:05:00):
So mediumship is not the easiestundertaking, but what keeps me
in it, what keeps me working it,and what keeps me coming back,
even when I get knocked down, itis this curiosity within me to
explore, to express. My soul isnot ready to put it down yet,
and that's how I know itcontinues to be for me, it
(01:05:21):
doesn't mean I'm not. Also, youguys know I teach, and I teach
about intuition, and we have thepod, and we do other things. So
I am doing other things thatalso help fulfill me. But
mediumship just continues to,like tickle my curiosity. And
there's more I want to know andmore I want to learn, and I want
to keep getting back in there.
And I I don't always love doingthe work of it, the meditation
(01:05:41):
part and theself critique part. And, you
know, there's some hard parts inthere, but when I'm in the
energy of the spirit world, andwhen I'm giving a mediumship
communication, and when it'sworking, and when I am
communicating what my spiritperson needs to express, and
when it is landing for myclient, my recipient, in a way
that is healing their heart ortheir soul, even if it's not in
(01:06:05):
that moment, but I can just feelit getting in there. It's
profound and meaningful to me asan expression of myself like
nothing else. But when it'shard, it's hard, so I'm here to
tell you, don't let thedifficulty or the challenge of
something make you feel like,Oh, I'm not meant to do this.
(01:06:26):
Because things that are meant togrow us, remember, even if it's
an expression that we're givingto the world, it's also meant to
grow us. So when something'smeant to grow us, it's not meant
to be all smooth sailing, alleasy peasy, all gimmies, right?
We are going to have to work andchurn and express and do work on
ourselves. And there's so manypieces to it. And I really feel
(01:06:49):
like that is one of the otherways to know when you are
working in a purposeful waytowards your overall life
symphony, which could includemany, many purposes in your
life. It's, do you continue tofeel curious? Do you continue to
feel challenged? Does thiscontinue to send you inward,
looking at yourself, looking at,why am I offended about that? Or
(01:07:12):
why am I feeling this way? Or,you know, our own stuff,
basically, I really feel likethat is part of knowing when we
are in the vein of our purpose.
And again, I just want toreiterate it one more time
before we go, because I can'teven tell you how many people
reach out to me about lifepurpose. I don't believe there's
(01:07:33):
only one flat purpose in ourlives. I think there are many
elements, many expressions, manypieces of us that we are
braiding together in any giventime period in our life that are
all towards our greater purpose, and I feel like we continue to
evolve and expand within thatpurpose. So it's natural if it
(01:07:57):
feels like something that didfulfill you is now morphing or
changing or calling you forwardin a new way that is ideal. So
let me know if this has openedyour mind at all about purpose
and what that really means andhow all the experiences of our
life can be used towards ourhighest and greatest expression
(01:08:18):
in this lifetime. And I hopethat this has just shifted your
perspective a little bit aboutwhat purpose actually means,
refocusing on those qualitiesthat you want to express in your
symphony and understandingfulfillment, rather than only
climbing towards goals. So letme know how this resonates with
(01:08:39):
you. Please share this withsomeone that you care about that
is struggling with theirunderstanding of purpose. That
would really mean a lot to me,and I would love it if you would
follow the pod wherever you arelistening. Give me a like or a
subscribe. Send me a comment. Itry to read them all. Big hugs.
Lots of love. Bye for now. Frominside, spirits. You kick, kick
(01:09:00):
kick.
