That’s the kind of fast, specific recognition that can shift school culture, and it’s the heart of our conversation from the NCASA conference in Wilmington, North Carolina with Dean Cook, Sales Manager at Presentation Solutions.

SPEAKER_01 (00:06):
Welcome to Spotlight for Success with American Book
Company.
I'm your host, Derek Pentozi, and we're here at the NCASA
conference in Wilmington, NorthCarolina.
We're here with our specialguest, Dean Cook.
He is a sales manager forPresentation Solutions.
Thank you for coming on today.
Well, thank you.

SPEAKER_00 (00:22):
So what brings you to NCASA?
So we're down here just uhshowcasing the three units that
we sell.
We only sell three things.
Uh we don't have a barrage ofthings.
We have a poster maker, we havea recognizer, and a cool
laminator.
So those are the products welike to highlight.

SPEAKER_01 (00:38):
Yeah.

SPEAKER_00 (00:38):
So is this tell us a little bit about this?
Okay, so this comes fromsomething that a lot of school
principals, administrators, teachers don't know about, and
that is called the recognizer.
Now the recognizer is an awardsystem.
It's not just an award system,it's a way to make plaques,
trophies, medals.
Here's an example.

(00:59):
Um, and so you can awardthroughout the year any athlete,
any teacher, any student foranything that they they need to
be awarded for.
Um, and don't have to go to thelocal trophy shop.

SPEAKER_01 (01:11):
Yeah.

SPEAKER_00 (01:11):
So that's what this machine does.
But it also does more.
It does signage, stair signage,it does any kind of signage
throughout the school.
Uh so it's it's a multi-it'skind of like a Swiss Army knife
for signage and award.
Okay, I love that.

SPEAKER_01 (01:25):
Yeah.
And what makes you guysdifferent from your competitors?

SPEAKER_00 (01:29):
Well, um, there are several things that when it
comes to this, we own the rightsto this, this particular item.
So it's kind of a sole sourcething.
Now, what makes us differentoverall, as far as our printer
and our cool lamp, that kind ofthing, is we offer a life of the
machine um service.

(01:51):
So as long as you own it, I getpeople that call eight years
into their uh ownership and theysay, Oh, we got a problem, but
the warranty was gone threeyears ago or four years ago.
It doesn't matter.
Our technicians will still helpyou solve that problem.
Wow.
So that's one of three thingsthat make us so different.
Wow.

(02:12):
Yeah.
Cool.
Our poster maker is the 24, 25,and hopefully 26 poster maker of
the year by EdTech magazine.
And what they do is they reviewall the different uh educational
technology products that are outthere for schools, and they said
of all the poster makers, thisone is the best one for schools,

(02:33):
and that separates us because wemade it specifically for
schools.

SPEAKER_01 (02:38):
Wow.

SPEAKER_00 (02:38):
Yeah.
That's powerful, man.
So how'd you get into thisposition?
Well, um, I met the owner, wesat down, we talked, he told me
about the product that uh thatthey sell.
I said, really?
That's easy because schools wantit already, and so as a result,
it it was a natural fit for me.

(02:59):
I I uh had worked for a companymany, many years and and uh was
looking for something that wouldbe a good fit for me.

SPEAKER_01 (03:05):
Well, I'm glad you found what you loved.
Yeah, yeah, that's great.
I hope I shouldn't find that soI know it's a blessing.

SPEAKER_00 (03:11):
I I I enjoyed the job I had before this, I loved
it, and this one here, um, I'veonly been with them about a
year.
Never woke up a day saying, Ohgosh, gotta go to work.
So, yeah.
Schools want it.
Uh they they love it, they wantit.
We just partnered with them tofind a way to obtain it.

SPEAKER_01 (03:29):
Yeah, I think it's a beautiful product.
It um promotes success.
That's one and justappreciation.
I think it's it's great.
Yeah.

SPEAKER_00 (03:37):
I do have a story on the recognizer if I got a
moment.
Oh, yeah.
It's a story, it's a true storyof a principal that heard that a
middle school boy had not justbroken up a fight, but prevented
the fight.
Wow.
Prevented it from occurringaltogether.
She had heard about it and uhthey owned the recognizer.
She immediately went to therecognizer, she printed off a

(03:58):
plaque like this that said,World's greatest peacekeeper,
put his name on it.
He was 10 years old, went downto the class where he prevented
the fight, got them alltogether, and said, I want to
present this to you, and madehim the world's greatest
peacekeeper in front of all hispeers.
So that's an example of what youcan do.

SPEAKER_01 (04:16):
Yeah.
Wow, he should be very proud ofhimself.
Yes, that's amazing.

SPEAKER_00 (04:20):
Yeah, yeah.
And where can we find yourproduct?
Okay, well, um, you can eithergo to presentation uh
solutions.com.
Okay, it's that simple.
Dean at presentationsolutions.com, or the 800
number.
Uh we're online, 1-800-280-7809.
Um, or here at the uh at theconvention, uh, the booth, we're

(04:42):
located.
Okay, cool.
Yeah.

SPEAKER_01 (04:44):
And do you have any last words for the N Castle
community?

SPEAKER_00 (04:46):
Well, um glad to see you guys, great success.
That's what we're here for.
We're here to enable the schooladministrators and teachers and
principals to have success ofwhat they do.
Absolutely.
