Have you ever considered that today wasn't randomly assembled but specifically crafted for you? In this refreshing five-minute reflection, we explore the powerful truth behind Psalm 118:24 - "This is the day that the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it."

The journey begins with some much-needed laughter as we share hilariously misguided questions that real lawyers have asked in courtrooms.  These genuine courtroom bloopers remind us not to take ourselves too seriously.
But beneath the humor lies a profound message about joy that transcends circumstances. When the psalmist declares "This is the day the Lord has made," he's revealing that God specifically designed today, maintains control, watches over us, and stays by our side through everything. This divine craftsmanship behind each day enables us to experience authentic joy regardless of external situations. The peace and joy God provides often doesn't make logical sense amid difficult circumstances - yet it sustains us anyway because it flows from within. Today, I encourage you to embrace this gift: laugh, spread happiness, and recognize the sacred purpose in this day created specifically for you.

Speaker 1 (00:10):
Good morning and welcome to Starting Right.
I am Danny Mac and I'm going tobe here every Monday to Friday
to help you get a great start toyour day.
So grab your cup of coffee, sitback and relax for the next
five minutes as I help you startyour day by starting right.
Psalm 118, verse 24, says thisis the day that the Lord has

(00:40):
made.
We will rejoice and be glad init.
Today we're just going to havesome fun.
It's not about anythingtheological.
It's not about any great lessonor inspiration we need to do or
be.
It's just about having some fun.
So I combed extensively throughthe internet for hours and hours
on end and I put together alist of questions that lawyers

(01:02):
asked witnesses while they wereon the witness stand.
I know how we generally viewlawyers.
They are amongst the mosthighly educated and probably
some of the most intelligentpeople around, and there's a lot
of good lawyers out there.
So I mean no disrespect tolawyers, but if there are any
lawyers listening this morning, you have some cohorts who ask
some really dumb questions.

(01:22):
Let me show you what I mean.
During cross-examination, alawyer said so the nose that you
broke as a result of thisincident.
Was that the same nose that youbroke as a child?
How about this one Now, doctor, isn't it true that when a
person dies in his sleep, inmost cases he just passes away

(01:44):
quietly and really doesn't knowanything about it until morning?
Here's another winner.
Was it you or your brother thatwas killed in the war?
I like this one in this age ofuncertainty.
Do you have any children oranything of that kind?
How about this one where thelawyer asked the question and

(02:04):
the witness responded?
The lawyer said I show you nowexhibit three and ask you if you
recognize that picture.
Yes, that's me.
Were you present at the timethat picture was taken?
Or how about this one now, mrsjohnson, how was your first
marriage terminated by death, and by whose death was it

(02:26):
terminated?
How about this one that seemsto show a complete lack of
understanding of how stairs work.
The lawyer said you say thestairs went down into the
basement.
Yes, and these stairs do theygo up?
Also, I love the witness'sresponse to this one.
This is one of my absolutefavorites.

(02:54):
The lawyer was questioning thecoroner and trying to trick him.
The lawyer began yes, no.
Did you listen to the heart?
No.
Did you check for breathing, no.
So when you signed the deathcertificate, you weren't sure

(03:15):
the man was dead, were you?
Well, let me put it this way,the man's brain was sitting in a
jar on my desk, but I guessit's possible he could be out
there practicing law somewhere.
Those are in no way areflection of all lawyers, but
these, reportedly, are actualdumb questions asked in

(03:37):
courtrooms and they hopefullygave you a bit of a smile.
Today, when the Bible says thatwe are to rejoice for this is
the day the Lord has made, thepsalmist is actually saying that
God specifically made today, that God is in control, that
he's looking out for us, thathe's with us, that he's guiding
us, and because we know that Godis still in control, we can

(03:58):
rejoice, we can laugh, we canenjoy each other's company, we
can enjoy our family andeverything around us.
The joy that God can give us isnot dependent upon our
circumstances.
It doesn't matter what's goingon in the world around us,
because the power of that joy isfrom what is inside of us, and
God wants us to experience thatjoy every day of our lives, and

(04:21):
that comes for when we put ourfaith and our trust in Him and
when we put our faith in Him,when we put our trust in Christ
as our Lord and Savior, he comesinside of us and he gives us a
joy and a peace that doesn'tmake sense in the middle of our
circumstances.
We can look around us.
We can see all kinds of thingsthat we should be depressed

(04:41):
about, that we should befreaking out about.
But God has said I have madethis day and I have made it for
you.
I have made it so that you canexperience everything that there
is in this life with peace andwith joy, because this is the
day that I have made and I havemade it for you.
So today, my encouragement isenjoy the day, laugh, make

(05:07):
somebody else laugh, experiencejoy, do something that will make
somebody happy, enjoy everyminute of this day that God has
made for you.
Have a great day, my friends.
We'll talk again tomorrow.
Thank you for listening todayand I invite you to join me

(05:37):
Monday to Friday, right here onStarting Right with Danny Mac.
