Speaker 1 (00:06):
Good morning and
welcome to Starting Right with
Danny Mac.
I'm going to be here everyMonday to Friday to help you get
a great five-minute start toyour day, so grab your cup of
coffee, sit back, relax and letme help you start your day right
.
Okay, this may seem like a bitof an odd question for you this
morning, but when was the lasttime you sat down and you
(00:29):
examined what you believe isyour abilities and your
potential?
That is still within you.
Most of us rarely even thinkabout that.
Particularly as we get older,we start thinking about our
routine, just where we need togo and what we need to do today,
but we don't realize how muchGod has placed within us and how
(00:50):
much potential there is reallydeep inside of us.
One of the things that I'vecome across, that I'm seeing in
more and more studies, is justhow incredible and intricate
each one of us is.
As God has created us, we aremade up of trillions of cells in
our body and inside each ofthose trillion cells there are 3
billion DNA base pairs.
(01:12):
Can you imagine that, apparently, if you took your DNA
and wrapped it around the worldfrom one person, it would go
around the world 30 times.
That's the length of the DNAwith inside each of our bodies.
It's absolutely amazing the waywe are created and, along with
that, every second, our body isproducing 25 million new cells
(01:34):
that all have the same DNA inthem.
Again, that means that every 15seconds we've produced more
cells than there are people inthe United States.
It's absolutely amazing the wayGod has made us.
Many of the books and studiesI've read through recently have
talked about human potential, about what we are capable of
doing and capable of becoming.
(01:55):
The general consensus from manyof those studies tells us that
the majority of individuals onlyuse 10 to 30 percent of their
potential.
I'm not talking about brainpower.
It used to be said we only use10% of our brains and that's
been disproven many, many times.
Our brain is far more activethan just 10% of it, so that
really is not even in theequation here.
(02:16):
But when it comes to our humanpotential, our ability to do and
accomplish, we're only at 10 to30% of that level of what we
could and should be, and thereare a number of studies that
have now shown this.
I've got thinking about that interms of us as our walk with
God.
What does it mean for us toonly be using about 30% of our
(02:36):
potential?
That means that there's 70%more that we could be doing.
That would impact our families, that would impact our God, that
would impact our nation.
We have so many opportunitiesfor what we can do and what we
should do.
Ephesians, chapter 5, verses 15and 16, it tells us to be
careful how you live.
Don't live like fools, but likethose who are wise and make the
(02:57):
most of every opportunity inthese evil days.
I wanted to share with youthree concepts this morning,
morning that if you grasp theseand begin to use them, they will
help you to use more of thepotential that is within you.
That is potential to grow you,to help your families, to serve
your God and to serve church.
Here are three things.
Real quick Step.
(03:19):
Number one is a phrase that mywife often used with our kids
when they were growing up.
Number one is figure it out.
We need to stop questioningourselves and asking can I?
And need to look at what isthere and say how can I?
We need our answers to be yes.
Someone comes to you and givesyou an opportunity for a
business or for a ministry, orfor an opportunity to stretch
(03:41):
yourself in a new way.
Instead of coming up with allthe reasons why you can't, our
first response needs to move tohow can I get that?
I can do that.
What do I need to do to get tothe yes?
Number two is stop thinkingthere's only one way and realize
there are many ways to doalmost everything.
There are lots of opportunitiesand answers for us, and each
(04:04):
one of them just requires a stepfor us to say yes.
And then now I need to find away to do this, and along that
way you will work out bits andpieces and solve it.
But get to the answer.
Don't get bogged down in theprocess.
Get to the answer and realizethat there's more than one way
to get there.
And number three really is thekey to it all.
(04:27):
If you have goals andaccomplishments that you want to
see in your life and you've gotthem written down or you've
thought about them a number oftimes throughout your life, stop
putting those things off andthinking that someday I will get
to that, someday I will takethis course, someday I will go
and see my kids, someday I willhave my own business.
Someday my schedule will besuch that I can spend a half
(04:49):
hour with God every morning.
Someday, someday, let's movebeyond the someday and recognize
that we need to do importantthings every day.
I may not be able to teach acourse every day, but I can be
learning and growing in thatcourse every day.
I may not be able to spend anhour with God in prayer every
(05:10):
morning, but I can spend timewith God in prayer every morning
.
Don't throw out the small stepstowards your goal and start
doing the important things everyday, and always remember that
you have been created in theimage of God himself.
You are the most intricate, precise, incredibly powerful
(05:33):
thing that God has ever created.
Don't ever doubt what he didwhen he made you, because he
made you the perfect.
You have a great day, myfriends.
We will talk again tomorrow.
Thank you for listening todayand I invite you to join me
(05:57):
Monday to Friday, right here on,starting Right with Danny Mac.
