Giving brief, evasive answers during a conversation or avoiding emotional involvement are two examples of grey rocking. For example, instead of defending yourself or escalating the conversation, a gray rock response would be a straightforward "I see" or "Okay" when someone tries to provoke you with a passionate comment.
