On the next episode of Survive & Thrive 8791, On the next episode of Survive & Thrive 8791, I welcome Dr. Roopa Shah to the Buck & Honey’s remote studios. Dr. Shah is a well-known family physician in the Madison, WI area. Since graduating from Michigan State University, she has spent her entire professional life serving her patients for nearly a quarter century. She is on the podcast to share how she managed being a wife, mother, and doctor and playing all those roles with passion and determination.

Raised in suburban Detroit, MI, Dr. Shah didn’t venture far for her undergrad and graduate work. Michigan State University checked all the boxes for what has become a fulfilling career. SSM Health would take a chance on her right after she completed her residency in St. Paul, MN. Her medical career started in the delivery room where she helped expectant mothers bring newborns into the world.

It wasn’t long after the start of her career when she would start her family. She would have two of her own children. As rewarding as her career was, motherhood also brought its own share of rewards and demands. With the help of a supportive husband, nannies, and hard work she managed to keep moving forward in her career. After battling some anxiety with her profession and parenthood, she leaned on exercise and some self reflection to bring balance back to her life.

Dr. Roopa Shah has turned her passion for exercise into a pursuit to climb mountains. She uses her experiences and medical background to help her patients to live their best life. This will be a good one. You will not want to miss this episode of Survive & Thrive 8791. CAN’T WAIT!!!

Medal of Honor: Stories of Courage

Medal of Honor: Stories of Courage

Rewarded for bravery that goes above and beyond the call of duty, the Medal of Honor is the United States’ top military decoration. The stories we tell are about the heroes who have distinguished themselves by acts of heroism and courage that have saved lives. From Judith Resnik, the second woman in space, to Daniel Daly, one of only 19 people to have received the Medal of Honor twice, these are stories about those who have done the improbable and unexpected, who have sacrificed something in the name of something much bigger than themselves. Every Wednesday on Medal of Honor, uncover what their experiences tell us about the nature of sacrifice, why people put their lives in danger for others, and what happens after you’ve become a hero. Special thanks to series creator Dan McGinn, to the Congressional Medal of Honor Society and Adam Plumpton. Medal of Honor begins on May 28.
