(00:00):
Previously on Expedition Untold, you and Tierra and I were in the
story of the Maleficent 7. I got a little out of control,
and I mean, I healed Tenenbaum and brought him back up
afterward, but everyone in town was so desperate for my help, it
was really overwhelming. So we went through the portal to

(00:23):
move on. And where was I?
Welcome back to the Tall Tale Tavern, the monthly one shot
adventure TTRPG podcast. I am your Tavern master and host
Kyle and we are here for Chapter11 of Expedition Untold and the
continuation of Namby's story. Joining me at the bar tonight,

(00:47):
Recovering so quiet kid, currentschool psychologist and aspiring
magical girl. It's Brooke.
Welcome back, Brooke. Thank you.
That was my very best Michael. Caine, you have to.
You have to go. My cocaine.
My cocaine first. So.
I kind of set you up to fail there.

(01:07):
You have to say my cocaine, that's my trick is my cocaine is
is his accent. And so I didn't say that before.
So it it didn't get the in the rhythm, but welcome.
It's just you and me here at thebar, just just chilling, ready
to play some D&D. How you feeling tonight?
Totally chill and normal and calm.

(01:31):
My heart is at a like regular slow rhythm.
That's healthy. OK, great.
Excellent. Well, let's let's reopen the
book. Turn to Chapter 11 and continue
the story of Expedition Untold. Roll the intro.

(02:17):
None namby. As you stepped into the portal
leaving the western world, you were surrounded by images and
sounds and memories from your past.
And then suddenly you had a new memory.
As a young learner at your university, a fire Jannassi boy
comes and tells a story in the Commons.

(02:37):
It's a story about a boy who feels different from his own
family, but eventually he finds the differences to be strengths,
giving him courage. You like the story so much that
you buy a copy from him. A few years later, a research
opportunity comes up through theuniversity to go with a group of
students to a faraway land. It's an opportunity only given

(02:58):
to promising students, which your professor believes you to
be. Before, you had said no, not
feeling like you were worthy of such an honor.
But now you remember the story the boy told, and that gives you
strength. You say yes and go on the trip,
putting you on a new path, one that doesn't include settling
for a clerical job in Daggerfordor going to the Tall Tale Tavern

(03:21):
after a hard day at work, or signing up to join the Tall Tale
Tavern book club. The university has recently
found a map that details the location of a previously unknown
ancient temple of Seoul, and theuniversity has selected 3
special students to go on an excursion to the temple to
cleanse it for protection. A well known faction called the

(03:42):
Bone Guard will be escorting youand clearing out any threats.
You traveled very far north up to the Cold wood with your
professor Doctor Benshire and two other students, a human boy
named Clyde and an elf girl named Laurel.
Upon arrival to the woods you met a member of the Bone Guard
and or an orc named Navrog who informs you that the rest of the

(04:05):
guard are waiting nearby the temple.
You travel through the woods on a path that you can tell has
been cleared by wide sweeps of amassive weapon.
Navrog leads the way, a very muscular light green orc with
two massive tusks on his bottom jaw.
He wears the uniform of the BoneGuard, brown leather armor
adorned with carved bones. He holds a sharpened bone sword

(04:28):
with runes etched in the blade. Doctor Benshire looks down at a
map in his hands. Should be just ahead.
I gave the location to the Bone Guard beforehand so they could
assess the area to make sure it's safe.
Clyde, the human boy is visibly shivering.
I don't care if it's safe, I just hope that it's warm.

(04:51):
Couldn't we have brought a druidor someone who could make fire?
Laurel? Laurel, the elf girl with long
blonde hair says. You really think an ancient
temple that nobody has been to in like hundreds of years is
going to be warm? It's a temple.
It's a temple of soul. We worship the God of the sun.
Why build a temple out? Why even build a temple out

(05:12):
here? You continue to walk until
Navrog stops and points to a slight incline.
Just over this Ridge is the temple.
The other side is steeper, but we've tied some rope to a tree
that will make it easier to walkdown.
And he is cut off by the sound of a horn and a loud thump on

(05:34):
the ground and sounds of a struggle over the Ridge.
Stay here, he says. And he runs up the incline and
down over the other side, and you hear sounds of weapons
clashing. What should we Should we just
stay here? Yes, that's what that's what the

(05:55):
orc said. OK.
Is there anything nearby that I could that's like tall that I
could get sightline? Yeah, go ahead, roll perception.
24. Yeah, with that roll, you look

(06:17):
around and you see that there are some pretty tall trees.
The ones nearby you don't reallysee have they, they go up before
there are any branches. But then you look and shift a
little bit in your stance and you can see a tree that is more
like a like a conifer tree, likea, a pine tree that you that has
lower branches on it. And so that would provide a

(06:39):
little bit more of an advantage point.
OK, yeah, I think she would wantto Jimmy on up, not like very
high because she's still scared and wants to be able to get down
easily, but if she can see what's going on, that would make
her feel better. OK, so you you go forward and
you climb up the tree as you start to leave your professor

(07:01):
Namby. What are you doing?
What are you doing? Oh, I was just going to go over
there in that tree because then I could maybe.
Namby, it sounds like there's fighting down there.
I think, you know, we need to stay here.
The the orcs told us to to stay here.
Yeah, I mean, there's, it's not, there's not fighting in the
tree, right. Like I, I think it's OK.

(07:24):
Go ahead and roll up Persuasion.Hey, that's a + 0, but that's a
13. A13 No, I'm not risking any
students on this. This is this was not supposed to
be a dangerous mission. I don't know what's up ahead.
You you need to stay here. What?

(07:48):
You hear another horn and you can see just up over the Ridge,
you see this like bone like Crest over this Ridge and it has
this giant stone like wrapped around this bone and you see it
go up and then slam down and youhear that big thud on the
ground. Oh my gosh.

(08:11):
Well, we have to know what's going on so that we can heal
them if they get hurt, right? Laurel's like, I know like a
healing spell and and Doctor Benshire's like, no, we, we
can't be risking that. This is too much of A risk
though. We can't be.
I think we need to back up. I think we need to, I think we

(08:32):
need to head out. Oh my gosh, I don't think Namby
would go. Like I don't think you want to
go. To the tree.
Do you want to go to the tree that you saw?
I don't know, my professor's telling me not to.
I tend to listen to my professor.

(08:54):
That as he had called out to your hands were like you were
like up next to the tree. Basically, by the time he was
reaching, he was talking to you.OK, yeah, I'm just going to hop
up a little bit. I'll be, I'll be right back.
I swear I won't get in trouble and I just start hopping up.
OK so you hop up a little bit and you can see that over you

(09:17):
Crest your vision crests over the Ridge and down below you see
this massive horde of skeletons like a massive amount of
skeletons and you can see this giant member of the a literal
giant member of the bone guard swinging this big huge club
hammered down thud on the ground.

(09:38):
You watch as an ogre gets of themember of the bone guard gets
overwhelmed and is is swarmed byskeletons.
You see Navrog down there holding off some skeletons and
behind him you see a half troll female laying on the ground out

(10:00):
but not gone. Oh my gosh.
OK. You are at this angle, you're
only you're. You're just about 60 feet from
them. I'm 60 feet from them.
Yeah. OK, OK.
She is going to guiding bolt oneof them if there's one near

(10:28):
someone. OK, 'cause it's 120 foot range.
Yes, you are going to be entering into the initiative, so
go ahead and roll initiative. OK, that's a 16.
So you go ahead and cast guidingbolt at this massive swarm and

(10:50):
you're you are going to be targeting ones by are you going
to target ones that are around the orc navrog and the half
troll or ones that are around the giant?
Who's closer to the to? The Novrog is closer to the half
troll. Yeah, the ones near Novrog then?

(11:11):
OK. OK, here we go.
OK, 19. 19 that will hit, so go ahead and do all that damage.
You can do this namby. Oh OK, 14 radiant.
How does it look when you cast that guiding bolt?

(11:32):
It's like instead of a bolt of lightning, it's like a like a
sun flare that just like comes down from the sky and just just
hoofs them. Amazing.
It comes down from the sky and and just eradicates some of the
bone, some of the skeletons. You just see it blast down and
breaks apart some skeletons. It seems like you took out a

(11:52):
chip in this. You know, just a small amount in
this massive board of enemies. Well, the next person who
attacks that horde gets advantage.
OK, that is Navrog and So what? Is there anything else for your
turn? No, I'm staying in this tree.
I don't want to get my professortoo mad.

(12:14):
You see Navrog swing his sword and slash and hit a quite a
quite a few, quite a big swath of of the skeletons just like
sliced through their bones kind of fly up.
He's able to to get a pretty good hit and then swings with a
backhand and actually hits againand does another good chunk of

(12:35):
damage. So he's able to to fend off a
little bit the skeletons back up, but it seems like they're
going to press right on in afterhim.
Next, I'm going to roll a death saving throw for the half troll
female on the ground. And I'm going to use our new
dice tower, the Tavern roller. So if you're watching on

(12:57):
YouTube, you can see this roll. And so this is death saving
throw. That is a 14 and 2 roll.
Pass that. So 1 success on that back to the
top. The giant that giant great club
raises into the into the air, but got a big rock strap to it

(13:20):
swings down and crushes a good amount of skeletons and then he
backhands it tries to swing at them again and and misses.
He breaks a bunch of them and then just swings kind of in the
air that area that they were andisn't able to connect on any of
them. And it is the swarm of skeletons

(13:44):
turn and they are going to have three attacks on Navrog and
three attacks on on the giant onNavrog.
They have a they hit all three and one of them's a Nat 20 and

(14:06):
you see this horde of skeletons just just dive in on him and
slash and hit him and just startto annihilate Navrog as he takes
42 points of piercing damage. Dang, OK.
The skeletons around the giant are going to move in and they're

(14:27):
going to have three attacks and they are going to hit with all
three again with a Nat 20 as oneof them for a total of 35
damage. As you see these skeletons like
trying to like climb up on this on on this giant and stab into

(14:47):
him and that is their turn. You are up.
OK, Oh my gosh. What does it look like if I move
up 30 feet? How?
How close like am I putting myself like directly in harm's
way at that point, like out of the?

(15:08):
Trees so they are backed up against the Ridge.
You don't see that there are skeletons behind them so that
you you can get up to them. OK, well I'm going to move up 30
feet and if I need to like hop through the trees or whatever,
like if you need me to do anything movement wise, I have I
have stuff I could use but. Not necessarily.

(15:30):
You were able to to get 30 feet closer.
Part of that 60 feet was you being a little bit up on the.
Right. On the tree, so just distance
movement wise the we're going byhorizontal.
It works. Vertical.
You don't like it, just it works.
OK, OK, I'm going to move up 30 feet and I'm going to cast aid.

(15:55):
OK, so I can choose three creatures.
So I'm going to choose the half troll on the ground, Navrog and
the giant. So they all their hit point
maximum goes up by 5, but their current hit points also go up by
5. Your aid goes out the the hill
giant, some wounds heal on him, Navrog some wounds heal on on

(16:19):
him. And then you see your spell go
out and hit this half troll who heals for five hit points and
goes to stand up. And when she stands up, it hits
you like a wave. You see her and all these
memories come back. You remember your friend from
the Tavern, Hugh half troll talking about his sister who was

(16:40):
in the bone guard. It's all confusing at first, but
then it it starts to come to youand and you start to remember
going through the different stories, being part of a book
club, and then it really just sinks in.
Everything seems wrong about what's going on now that you're
living something different than what truly happened and you are

(17:02):
no longer Level 3, you are back up to level 7, Nam.
Yay, I don't have 24 hit points.Yay.
And as you, as that memory comesback and that half troll stands
up river, will you please join the group?

(17:25):
Welcome, tiddly. Oh.
Gosh, I think I. Was going to be playing with the
person who was going. To cry.
Surprised. Oh my gosh, that's incredible.
Yeah, River welcome tiddly to toto the to the game.
I'm glad that you didn't immediately die.

(17:47):
Yes, thank. You for saving my life.
Yeah. But River, you stand up after
being overwhelmed by the skeletons.
This is your first mission with the bone guard and you have your
Bone Crusher ham warhammer with you.
It will be Navrog's turn next. But because I rolled your

(18:09):
initiative for you River and it was a natural 1 so so.
I'll be taking over my rolls back, thank you.
You're welcome to take a roll. I'd give you a success on the
death save though. Yeah, that was good.
But namby anything else for for your turn?

(18:34):
No, not, no, not right now. OK, Navrog makes a couple swipes
with his bone sword. Both hit and does a lot of
damage to these skeletons. He is he is hitting hard right
now, swipes swipes and and just takes out a lot of these.

(19:00):
You see him with this like fury almost in his blood as he is
like swinging his his sword and he is holding there right next
to you River river. It is your turn and you have
five hit points currently. Great.
OK. All right.
What are we going to do? We are probably going to, you

(19:22):
know, come back up, stand up, assess the current situation and
try to take out some skeletons. See what we can do.
I'm assuming they're all they'reall within melee range or like
there's a lot of them melee range.
Let's try just hitting them withthe the Warhammer 18.
Sorry, 24 at a hit 24. At a hit, yes, 24 hits.

(19:42):
Perfect. All right.
And since I'm just coming back from death, I don't have any
modifier on the Warhammer, so it's just a straight hit seven
points of damage. Great.
As you swing and you do bludgeoning damage against these
skeletons, it's extra effective.And so that's actually 14
points. Great.
And I get a second attack also, so I'm going to hit again and

(20:08):
that is 10 points of damage. Did you did you give the the
attack roll for that one? Oh, sorry, my bad.
Let's do the attack roll first. It is the Bone Crusher which
basically automatically. 21, yes.
The 1st 2 rolls I get with this above 20 both times as is
standard for the bone. Crusher The Bone Crusher.

(20:30):
We'll keep that damage that damage roll though, 'cause.
That's a good damage. Roll.
Thank you SO. Crusher Reputation.
Up town, up to 20 points of damage.
Any specific way you're smashingthese skeletons?
You can look as you're as they're like swarming in on you.
You see lots, you know they're all humanoid skeletons, but you

(20:52):
can see they're all different races, all different types.
So there's like a a big one withlike minotaur horns coming in
after you. So I'm basically going to, I'm
like beaten and bloodied. Like it's like all crested over
my face and but you know, I'm rallying my strength and I'm
going to go in there and smash and and just cry full of the

(21:14):
bone guard and just like smash acouple of them in the face and
decapitate them, you know? Great bone bones are flying
everywhere. Anything else for your turn?
Those. That's your action.
Yeah, I don't think I can do anybonus actions based on my HP.
No, I'm good. I'm going to.
I'm going to probably just stay where I am because if I'm in

(21:37):
melee range I don't want to provoke opportunity tax though.
OK, the giant, you know him as Thirter takes his giant hammer
up his or his giant great club and just smashes down with it
again trying to get some more ofthese skeletons hits.
Again, hits for 17 points of damage, which is increased to 34

(22:07):
hits once and then gets a natural one on his second one.
So just he just smashes down andgets a ton of them and then just
just gets a little bit confused. You can see as he's trying to
make another attack and misses. It is the skeleton's turn.
The first one is going to be a A20 to hit for you river.

(22:35):
That hits. You'll take 11 points of damage.
I'm down again. It hits you for 11 points of
damage. You do have the regeneration
feature of the of the half troll, which you could activate.
It won't save you because it only does. 1D4. 1D four at this

(22:56):
point. Yeah.
But it does work while you're downed, so if you got to your
next turn it would give you someHP to like bring you back up if
you wanted to activate it now. OK, sure, let's do that.
Would that just be a waste of itthough?
Do you want to save it for when it comes back around to?

(23:18):
She can it, yeah. The only benefit is once her
turn comes back up it will give her HP to bring her back up.
I didn't. Understand 'cause you do it now
and then it brings you up on your turn.
So basically you get 1D4 immediately, and then you get it
every turn based on your Constitution modifier.
Since my Constitution modifier is 1, I get 1D4 next turn also,

(23:40):
which would bring me back to life essentially, right?
Yeah. OK.
So let's do that. I don't think it matters.
Like OK, what? I roll right?
But yes, you get you get hit a couple skeletons come in and
they just swipe at you and you activate your your regeneration
ability with as a half troll, but it's not enough and you fall
unconscious again. And that was one of their

(24:03):
attacks. It will use the other two
against Navrog and hip. Just hip for one of them and
rolled 6 points of damage on Navrog as he is able to a little
bit dodge out of the way and they rolled 2 ones on their dice

(24:23):
rolls. So the other three attacks
they're going to use on thirter and they will hit with all
three. Is that the giant?
Yep, the giant. And he takes 31 points of
damage. He is looking bad.
He is. There are skeletons climbing on

(24:45):
top of him, stabbing into him. He looks.
He looks overwhelmed. He's trying to swing.
He is looking like he's not going to make it super long.
But yeah, that's their turn. Namba, you're up right now.
You can see. Yeah.
See third of the giant getting overwhelmed.
Navrog, he's taken. He's looking bloodied.

(25:06):
Almost bloodied and river is down and you are looking at this
absolute horde of undead skeletons just charging for with
their swords. Cool cool cool cool cool cool
cool. This is fine.
Oh my gosh, what do I do? I'm going to go up to river and

(25:30):
cast a third level cure wounds. OK. 0 3D eight with the plus 4,
then that's 18. OK.
That's, I mean, that's still notgoing to keep you through a full
round necessarily, but. That's well see you.

(25:54):
You jump down and are right nextto her.
Suddenly river. There's a small Bunny girl,
small harangan girl. And she just says by the power
of soul when she touches you. So cute.
Anything else for your turn? Yeah, I'm going to just cause

(26:16):
I've got full health in case they want to take a different
target. I'm going to, I mean, I can't
move away I guess from whatever horde is on river, but I want to
kind of make myself a target if I can between like the two
swarms, if that's possible. Yeah.
So you can you can step in frontof river is probably the best
that you could do. OK, I will do that then, yeah.

(26:39):
OK. A tiny Bunny human shield.
Yes, yeah, you're so much tallerthan me, but I stick up my ears
as far as I can to be as tall as.
I can make herself look bigger. Very, very intimidating.
She's like, how tall are you? Like 3 feet tall or something.
Small. So I think she's yeah, like like
4 feet, literally 4 feet tall. Tops out at 4 feet, yeah.

(27:01):
Navrog steps forward and swipes with his with his sword.
Misses his first attack and hitswith his second.
Does just a little bit of damage, not really swiping too
well on this attack, but he doesthose two those two attacks and

(27:21):
then he shouts out a battle cry and he and he says the the herd
is thinning fight harder and it's going to give everybody
advantage on their next attack. Their person.
Love that. Actually, it gives advantage on
attack rolls until the start of his next turn.

(27:42):
All of them nice. And then he can make a bonus
attack. Was it bonus action?
Heck yeah. So we can make some bonus
Attack, Attack action and hits with it.
Advantage. With advantage, yeah, let me see
if he crit's that'd be sick. Did not crit opposite of crit
Nat wand on the advantage but hedoes 11 more damage and that is

(28:08):
his turn and river you are up. OK.
And you can see as as he cried out that the the the herd is
thinning. You can see that there is a
limit to how many skeletons are here, and based on how much
damage you have seen everybody do at maximum, you think that

(28:29):
you have a chance of taking themall out.
That's she's, she's heartened bythat, that sign and what she
sees and that she sees this tinyBunny in front of her trying to
protect her 7 foot swarthy body. She's inspired by the bunny's
bravery to, to put herself between like her and the, the

(28:52):
horde of skeletons. So she, she doesn't know who the
Bunny is, but she's like, wow, that's really impressive.
That is a brave Bunny. And she goes ahead and tries to
swing her warhammer. Great.
So that will be with advantage. All right, let's do that again.

(29:14):
So 13. 13 just hits. OK, great.
And that is 8 damage. OK with the Warhammer up to 16.
Oh, and I'm going to give her the additional.
Actually, I'm going to roll the regeneration too, to take the
regeneration for this turn sinceI was healed to OK, so I'm going

(29:36):
to take that really quick too. So that's one point.
I'll take it, whatever. Every little bit counts.
You never know, it's fine, but it could, it could mean it could
mean the difference. So all right.
And then I'm going to go ahead and attack again with my second

(29:58):
attack and rolling with advantage and that is 14.
To hit yes. 14 to hit, and that is 11 bludgeoning damage.
Up to 22. Excellent.
So she's going to go in and she's going to, she's going to

(30:19):
basically think to herself, you know, I'm going in.
I'm ready to die again. I can be brave like this Bunny.
She's thinking about her little brother and she's going and
she's going to give it all she'sgot.
Great. You charge forward and and just
smash like three of these giant skeletons.

(30:40):
You see, you see one that has more like a dragonborn face that
you just crunch that bone hammerstraight down and just the pile
of just becomes a pile of dust as you just RIP through a a good
swap of these and do a quite a bit of damage to these
skeletons. It's now looking very thin, like
there are just a few skeletons left.
Most of them are around the giant at this point and it is

(31:04):
his turn. I just want to jump in and say
that canonically, River is actually 8 feet tall, so it's
even more. Ridiculous. 08 feet.
That's true. That is very important.
A typical half troll is 7 feet, apparently.
She's tall. River is above average for 1/2
troll. She's she's, she ate very well.

(31:26):
Kind of both the rest. She rejected a lot of salads,
apparently. With advantage, the third or the
giant is able to swing his hammer and do some massive
damage to these to the skeletonsand what remains of them.
He hits one, just smashes down for for a bunch of damage and

(31:50):
then misses his second one. He's a he's a one hit wonder.
Isn't that the third time he's gotten one hit?
Yeah, so at this point he smashes down on these skeletons.
They are, there are a few of them left and you can look and
see that the the temple is behind them where they were
rushing out. They had, it's been a while

(32:11):
since they've been new skeletonscoming out of the temple, but
there are just a few stragglers left and they are around him and
they are going to only have three attacks instead of their
normal 6. And they hit with two of them on
him and the first one who only does 7 points of damage which

(32:37):
takes him down to three health and then hits 411 points of
damage. He is down to 0.
He is. He is down.
He will be able to make death saving throws himself, but there
are just a few skeletons left and they are swarming his body.

(32:58):
Namby, you're up. OK, Namby is she are all the
skeletons that are left within 30 feet of her?
Yes. OK, she's going to use her
Channel Divinity Turn Undead. So they, which I didn't realize
she had or what have you said earlier.

(33:20):
And so they have to make a Wisdom saving throw DC-15, and
if they fail, they have to run away.
Your level 7. Yeah.
Scroll down a little farther. And there's there's a yeah, I
know the destroy undead if they're under ACR, something a
lower than my threshold for my level.
Oh, what does that mean? Threshold for your level.

(33:44):
Oh, that's weird. I don't know what the minute
that these these this swarm of skeletons, they do count as
individuals with this undead thing.
So I'm going to roll for the ones that are left, the kind of
the group, I'm going to roll three different checks for them.
And so they have to hit. What's the DC?
15. 15 and they have a -, 1 to Wisdom, and so they have to hit

(34:09):
a 16 on these dice that I'm going to use.
I'm going to do the Tavern roll so we can see.
So we'll see if if they can hit a 16. 01 did.
One did. And so you see as there are
there's a group of five skeletons that remain.
The rest of them just explode, boom.

(34:30):
And it's just like crashed. The other ones are looking
afraid, but they're able to stand their ground as they're
standing over theer. But the rest of them it just the
skeletons just turn to dust and are gone, Exploded.
It is still your turn. Anything else?
Anything else? Return.

(34:51):
Is it just the one giant that's down?
Yep. OK.
He is down. There is a there is an ogre that
was swarmed that you initially saw.
And as you would have come into that battle, you would have seen
that this ogre member was annihilated.
He is dead on the ground. And you would have, you would
have seen that when you came in that there was no hope for the

(35:14):
ogre. By the time you were, you were
able to make it in for him. OK, OK.
So you were doing the death saving rolls for that one, Kyle,
and hitting those ones? He was.
He did for me, yeah. He was attacked three times as
he went down. And that would have, yeah.
But Navrog is still up. Navrog is still up and he's

(35:34):
he's, he's looking OK. OK, that yeah, that's gonna
that'll be it. OK, Navrog runs over and he's
going to see if he can take out these skeletons and he
absolutely can. And he just takes out the sword
and there's just a couple skeletons that are just
standing. They kind of pause at the rest

(35:55):
of their group getting exploded and and he comes in and just
swipes and cleans, cleans them off the body of the, of the
giant. Like they're, you know, pests,
like they're bugs, like beetles on a cattle or something.
I don't know what a strange analogy, but that's what I came
up with as he swipes and and just destroys these the rest of

(36:17):
these skeletons and everything is quiet and theer is still out.
We'll be out of initiative. He'll make one death saving
throw and he will succeed on that real quick.
But we are out of initiative. OK, we can go over and help
Theerdor. Yes.

(36:37):
Yeah I will go over and give hima first level cure wounds Sir.
Oh well that's the one on the die.
So he gets 5 health. Love to see it.
Five health great and he's openshis eyes and stands up and

(37:00):
stands tall, very tall. He's like 15 feet tall.
He's got the big leather armor on and he's got all these bones,
like some larger bones, but justtons of like small femur bones,
like to make his armor actually like work for his giant size.
But he he stands up and looks down and and then thank you,

(37:20):
little one. You're welcome.
Do I come up to like his knee? Like I was like so tiny.
You're. You're like real tiny.
Yeah. So it's like, yeah, you come up
to his knee. Yeah.
That's he's he's not the tallestof giants that there is, but he
is still a very tall individual of this bone guard.

(37:42):
And you see Navrog just trying to catch his breath and you hear
over the top of the Ridge. Namby, Nabby, that was reckless
of you. This this this this whole thing,
this whole excursion is cancelled.
All right, We're I'm I'm taking you home.
We're going home. This this was not meant to be

(38:03):
dangerous. Of course.
We hired the bone guard. This is a disaster.
And and Professor Benshire, Dr. Benshire is is Yeah, it is just
looks so flustered. Nabby, come on up.
We're going back. OK, well, don't you want to talk
to them first? Like they might have information

(38:24):
about what else is here and if this is the most dangerous thing
here. And then if it is, we've already
fought it, so it's a difference.I roll roll a persuasion.
That's a four. I, I'm sure there's more to know
here, but right now I'm not comfortable with having students

(38:47):
here. The last thing we want is a
student to die on this excursion.
We, we don't get to do these things very often.
And if, if this is what we're going to go up against, I'm, I'm
sorry. We're, we're going to have to
go. We're going to have to go back
back home. Come on up.
Let's, let's go, let's leave. And you see Clyde and and Laurel

(39:08):
walking away. She does not join them.
You're an adult, you can make your choice.
I mean they would have died without my help and I don't want
them to die. It's not what soul would want.

(39:29):
It's a true heart of the cleric, but I have to look at your
safety too. And the others.
But like I said, you're an adult, you're free to make your
own choice. But we'll be heading out.
OK, it's probably the right choice.
I mean, this seems pretty dangerous for students.

(39:52):
And they they head out. Hi, wow, that's a really cool
weapon you have there. So River is going to look at her
Warhammer and just it's, it's, it's, it's this enormous bone

(40:14):
that has carvings in it. And she's going to say thank
you, tiny, tiny Bunny for savingus.
And she's going to pick up the Bunny and swing her around and,
and just, and then just gently set her down and then kneel and
then offer a hand and say it. I'm, I'm River.
It's nice to meet you. Oh my gosh.
Hi, I'm Namby Hambleton. You can just call me Namby

(40:37):
though. Nyambi, great to meet you.
So will you be joining us on this adventure?
What are we? What are we doing?
Are you guys doing the temple thing even without?
Yes, we've been paid. We've been already paid to to
help cleanse this, this this temple of soul.

(40:57):
So I have no particular expertise in in the ways of
cleansing. So we'd have need of you if you
would want to join us. We've already, we already have
the coin. So I'm not one to shirk
responsibility in my tasks. I I am prepared to to press on
into danger. I've already died twice today.

(41:18):
I'm prepared to die again. Oh wow, you're so brave.
That's awesome. No.
You are. I saw you putting your tiny
Bunny body against the hordes ofskeletons.
You're my hero. It's so nice to meet you.
It's. Nice to meet you, but you
should. You should take care of yourself
too and maybe don't put yourselfin such danger.

(41:41):
You guys would have been in bad shape without me.
And that's not me. Like I'm not, I'm not trying to
brag. I'm not trying to brag or
anything. I just, you know, you guys look,
you guys are pretty hurt. No, thank you again for saving
our lives, all of us. I mean, we, we are strong, we
are trained, but we were overcome.
And I don't know what alternate timeline would have unfolded had

(42:03):
you not come to our rescue. So we are forever in your debt.
Oh, OK. Thank you.
Yeah. Oh, hey, yeah.
That's a Navrog. It seems your companions were
less brave than you. However I am, I am all this
fighting. It makes river very hungry and I

(42:27):
I've I feel like before we plunge into the depths of this
skeleton infested temple that weshould perhaps find some
sustenance and a warm fire and regenerate our our our
willingness to plunge the depths.
Yeah, that. Yep, that sounds like a good

(42:49):
idea. I need a rest.
As do I, as do I. I'm strong, but not that strong.
And so this will count as a short rest for.
You guys right? Here and you see Navrog walk
over to the dead ogre on the ground and the ogre, an ogre is

(43:10):
like a, it's kind of like a in between size.
So an orc, he's like medium sized and ogre is going to be
large size. So it's like a bigger, almost
like, just like a bigger, thicker version of a, of a, of
an orc. But he's going to sit down and
and pay respects to him. Thank you Krundurk for your

(43:31):
service. And he takes his his weapon, his
big hammer that he has and kind of sets it aside.
Looks like he's planning to bring it home with with him and
kind of puts it down by his packas you guys are making a fire
and doing what you would like todo for your short rest.
Cool. I would say to everybody, if if

(43:56):
if you guys are still feeling kind of hurt after we rest up, I
can I can spend some time praying and that that can kind
of help us before we get going to to maybe, you know, heal us
up all the way. Hopefully before we go.
I'm Namby Hambleton, she says tothe other people.

(44:20):
The Giant. Is.
Healing. Yeah, like, you know, when you
get hit and then in it. Yeah, you know, OK, you got it.
OK, so I didn't take any damage,so I don't.
I'm going to get some spell slots back with whatever that

(44:43):
Channel Divinity thing is. I forget hardest divine power,
but otherwise. Do you have two uses of that?
I think you do. I'm just going to use one to get
a second level spell back because I only get 2 per long
rest so I'll see if I need. Another one right, but I used
used 1 channel divinity. Yeah.
And the Channel divinity come back on a short rest.

(45:06):
So I'm going to do that at the beginning and then short rest to
get the Channel Divinity back. Well, anything else that you
would like to do before going into this temple?
As you're sitting there looking at the temple, you can see this
is a old, old temple. Lots of overgrown Moss.
It is in this side of a ravine, the ravine that may not have

(45:30):
existed when this this was even built.
Just a massive, there's like a rock slide that looks like a
part of this, like dirt had likeshifted into the side of the of
the the temple. Still very cold.
It's still very cold out. There's lots of snow around.
We're pretty far north, but the entrance looks open and you

(45:53):
haven't seen any more skeletons come out of it.
OK, just a quick side note just in case tiddly, your maximum hit
points is still up by 5 because that lasts 8 hours.
Wonderful. That's really helpful.
Thank you. I guess Namby would just ask
like you guys know what's going on in the temple?

(46:14):
Like should I prepare anything specific before we go in?
We, like River said we were hired to clear out the temple to
make it safe. And if this was maybe the
hardest trial we'll go through, then then so be it.

(46:35):
But we'll, we'll go through and clear out the temple and that's
our expertise is fighting threats.
We know nothing about the temple.
You are a cleric of of soul. This is a temple of soul.
I think we'll leave it to you tohelp with some of those some
things we might encounter. OK, yeah.

(46:59):
Oh yeah. I mean, I'll, I'll do, I'll do
my. Best.
And then River's going to say just in case, and then she's
going to take out a knife and she's going to cut her palm and
smear the blood on her warhammer.
And as she does that, the runes start to glow and it gets an icy

(47:19):
hue to it. So she is going to apply a
Crimson, right? And that means that she takes
one. Is it 1D6?
Yes, 1D. Necrotic.
OK, so she's going to take 1D6 decrotic damage, and that,
unfortunately, is a six. A little too deep there.

(47:43):
Yeah, it's just she's tough, it's OK.
And her her word hammer now has has additional damage.
Yes, it frosts over. Right, Frosts over, Yes.
Navrog looks up at theerder. Theerder right?

(48:05):
It doesn't look like you'll be fitting through.
So how about you stand guard outside and he nods his head
yes. So 1/3 of the giant will stay
outside and Navrock will be joining you.
OK. Are you ready to go inside?
Ready as I'll ever be. Reverse always ready for danger.

(48:33):
So you step inside the temple and walk through a short hallway
and then come into a large circular room with a domed
ceiling. Immediately on the other side of
the room you you see two skeletons with their short bows,
short bows drawn. Their initiative is a four.
So you 2 give me an initiative roll.
OK, wow. Oh, wow.

(48:55):
OK, great. That's a good time to get it at
20. It's net. 20 it is OK, great.
You see two skeletons there. You fought a lot of these, you
know already, you know that theyhave about 13 hit points.
And so how would you like to go forth to clear this room of
these two skeletons that are having their short, short bows

(49:17):
drawn about 30 feet from you? I think I would just use my
sacred flame and trip. So that'd be a deck save for
them. Deck save 15.
OK, you'll have to. You'll have to target like one
at a time. Yeah, yeah.
I mean, I guess I don't know theone on the left.
He rolled a 21. Wow.

(49:38):
Well, there goes my turn. Goodnight 20.
Oh no. So Sacred Flame misses?
Yeah. Anything else?
No, that's it. River, you're up.
Hey, all right, let's go ahead and Hulk's smash.

(50:00):
I think we can make quick work of these 16 to hit.
Yep. OK, and that is 11 bludgeoning
damage plus what was the modifier for the frost?
I think you get is it an extra D6 written down somewhere?

(50:20):
Yes, extra D6 of cold cold damage.
And that is a three, so that's 14 points of damage.
Nice. The bludging damage was extra
effective. It explodes with that.
You know at 13 hit points you did 20 just with the the wow the
with the bludging damage. So bones scatter everywhere,

(50:43):
you've got another attack and another skeleton standing there
with the short bow slowly turning to hit you all.
Right, that is 14 to hit. Yep, that'll hit.
And that is 7 damage plus the extra frost that is 8 damage.

(51:06):
Great 7UP to 14 + 1 had 13 hit points blasted and so.
Can we like freeze him and then explode him like dry?
Ice. Absolutely.
How does that look? You freeze.
So I, I, I, I, I smack the skeleton and as soon as the
Warhammer, the frost covered warhammer hits him, he just

(51:30):
absolutely turns to ice and thenjust shatters into dust or I
guess shards. Yeah.
Frozen, yeah. Navrog looks like he was drawing
his sword and then just puts it away.
And you guys are in this room. We are out of initiative.
Good job. You look around this room and

(51:52):
you see beautiful stonework all around, carved with rays of sun
spreading out from the center ofthe room, like on the floor.
There is light coming into the room from the ceiling through
pinpoint holes that form constellations on this roof of
this domed ceiling. It gives the appearance of the
sky at night. And there is one main door

(52:13):
across the way, a tall stone double door that is completely
blank. There are a few other doorways
around the room that it. Just a quick glance looking into
those rooms lead to what looks like a small study, a prayer
room, sleeping quarters. Everything looks really
weathered and drab. There's no other enemies,
nothing that looks like there's much value.

(52:34):
And you come back into the main room and you look over towards
the skeletons and see that they were standing there.
There's something different about the wall over there.
Looks like a lever on the wall. Can I go over and see if I can

(52:55):
figure out like what it would trigger?
Yeah, yeah. So you walk closer to it.
So give me an investigation roll.
Let's see. Not good.
That's 5. A5 So you walk over and see that
it's actually a wheel. There's a wheel that goes into

(53:16):
the side of this, into the side of this room.
It's got the spokes on the wheelare on 1/2 are like rays of sun,
and on the other half it's more like lines.
And it almost looks like the appearance of like sun and moon
to the wheel. And that's that's what you see.

(53:41):
Can I go over and investigate also?
Sure, go ahead. OK, 16. 16 namby goes to touch
the wheel as she said she was going to go to to go investigate
it and river you see there's ADCof 15 on this investigation
check a glyph kind of light up that's getting closer that or

(54:05):
that's getting brighter as her hand is getting closer to touch
it. I'm gonna, I'm gonna say wait,
wait, wait. Don't touch that.
OK. Do you see that?
And then she's gonna point at the glyph.
Oh I totally miss that. Wow, you're like strong and
smart. Yes, but I never make good

(54:28):
choices somehow. Well, how do we go about
cleansing this temple? I mean, what do we think that
glyph does? Roll an Arcana check.
Oh my gosh guys, I started off so strong today but that's a mad

(54:51):
one. Or a drill one.
I got a. 26 Oh my gosh, you're so smart.
My roles are so. Amazing.
It looks like you know it. It looks like it's part of the
mechanism. You know, it's it's probably
nothing that would, you know, bean issue my.

(55:13):
Brain is just like this is this is river, this is wild, this is
river. So that's all I'm thinking.
River With your new knowledge ofrunes and glyphs, you have some
idea of what they can look like.If they are that meant to help
or harm, you can definitely tellthat this is one that is meant

(55:36):
to harm as a trap. OK.
All right. So I'm going to go ahead and
communicate that to my inions. Hey, but there's also just like
a door, but it's closed. Yep, a big stone double door
that's closed. Or and there's a lever and the
rune is on the lever Or is it onthe wheel?

(55:57):
Sorry, it was kind of looked like a lever from the angle.
Maybe it's because that's what Isaid, but I meant to say wheel
and then you get close and you can see it, it's a wheel.
So there's there's no lever. There's no lever and a wheel,
it's just a wheel and the wheel goes like into.
The Wall. Yeah, OK, OK.
Well, this is this is magic beyond my Ken.

(56:18):
I mean, perhaps, perhaps it's dangerous to touch.
I mean, I'm not afraid of danger.
However, I'm not sure that this is the type of danger I'm
familiar with. However, I, I mean, I can try,
I'm going to try to brute force the doors.
I'm going to just, I want to tryto make progress somehow.
So I'm going to go and like shove my 8 foot body against

(56:41):
them. Cool.
Yeah, give a give. Give us an athletics check.
OK, that's a 25. 25 You put all of your force, you feel like you
hit it square and thud against it doesn't move.
Yeah, well, I had to give it a try.
I I know I already did an arcanacheck but like what would what

(57:03):
would Naomi know anything about glyphs like in her study?
I don't really. I don't really know.
You know, you can tell that it'sa trap that probably gets
activated, you know, with your collective, you know, there's
there's probably something that triggers it.
It was glowing as your hand was getting closer to it, it was
glowing brighter. So it yeah, it I think with that

(57:26):
you could have easily deduced with that Arcana check river
that this is like a touch thing. If you touch the wheel
something, there's a trap there. If we if we wrapped something
around it, would that trigger it?
Like a rope or a cloth or something.
You can. You can certainly try.

(57:48):
Should we try? I we probably have rope, right?
We're in AD and D campaign. We have rope.
We have so much rope. We have so much rope.
All right, I actually. Don't think I have rope.
I think I let's see what I can do.
I have a blanket. I mean, I have a bed roll.

(58:09):
I have 50 feet of hempen rope. Do you want to do like like
stand like 10 feet away and try and do like A to like hook it
over and then like pull? Sure is it?
Is it something the surface thatwe can hook onto?
Yeah, I I guess in my brain I assumed they were like shipwheel
type things. Yeah, yeah.
They're like shipwheel spokes and so so yeah, go ahead and try

(58:32):
that if you would like to so. I'm gonna wrap the rope around
my hand, find a a rock in in this some something more stone,
attach it to the end of it and then just.
Lean around, try to lasso. It try to lasso it from like,
you know, 10 feet away, maybe not too far away.
OK, great. This will be ADC 18 to hit.

(58:55):
OK. And so go ahead of a Dexterity,
Yeah, just a Dexterity sleight of hand.
We used to call it a sleight of hand to try.
And that sleight of hand that's I'm.
Standing. Like Dang it farther.
Away. So you sling it, it does hit the
wheel, nothing happens and and it falls to the ground.

(59:20):
It doesn't hook onto it, so you're welcome to continue to
try it to see if we can get the 18 as we're standing there.
So go ahead and give us some more decks.
I'm gonna give a turn. I keep rolling.
My rolls are so bad now. That's a 15, That's a four,
that's a 14. That's thirty tries, everyone.

(59:41):
You hear the sigh of of Nah brog.
Maybe, maybe, maybe. He has better.
Maybe he's better. Oh God, I keep on missing.
I'm just like so frustrated. That's a 14, right?
14 That's four tries. That's a 12.
Oh my gosh. I'm getting here, sits down.
Oh, that was almost a 20, but it's a seven.

(01:00:02):
That one was close. The the the like.
It loops around and you feel like you haven't.
You pull too tight and it just flops out.
And it just flops off. I can get this.
I've done harder things in my life, but none as hard as this.
That's a 17 it almost. Gets.
Oh my gosh. And finally I hit a 20.

(01:00:25):
Amazing, amazing. And my arm is getting a little
sore. This is, I'm glad, trained for
this. I was planning for this in my
whole life. So you sling it.
You finally get it to latch ontothe wheel after what was that?
I think that was eight tries, 8 rolls, great to get up at 18 and

(01:00:46):
you landed on there and and now you feel like you have some bit
of control over the wheel. It doesn't affect you.
The this glyph isn't activated and you feel like you are able
to rotate it if you it's a little bit difficult, but you
can rotate this wheel if you getthe right angle.
All right, I'm going to go aheadand shorten the distance of the

(01:01:08):
ropes. I'm going to pull, pull it
closer so I can manipulate it better.
So I'm not going to touch the wheel, but I'm going to get like
maybe like 3 feet away and just like shorten the distance and
just like go like this and then I am going to try to pull it
down. OK, you turn the wheel and it
turns where it's at, straight up.

(01:01:29):
There are rays of sun going off the right and like moon rays
going off the left. You turn it so it's like the the
moon is kind of going up up the top of it.
And the constellations above youin the room change the whole
room. The the Dome kind of rotates and
a moon appears and traverses theceiling until it reaches the

(01:01:50):
center of the Dome, shining down, giving more illumination
to the room As you do that one turn to get the moon squared up.
Squared up. OK.
Can we do some kind of like investigation or Arcana check to
see if any of this is making sense to us?
Yeah, go ahead. Both of you can give A1 or the

(01:02:13):
investigation or I would, I would say perception.
Perception. OK, yeah, Arcana, if you're
looking for something specific, but you have to let me know what
that was. All right, my, I don't notice
anything. I can roll the four.
I'm so focused is not going to come off that you are not not
all. Of my intelligence is is

(01:02:34):
distracted by this and also I probably, it's probably the
disappointment from failing 7 times in a row.
I was like really hard on myself, you know?
OK, Well, we have a good give and take relationship because
that's a 24. Oh great job teammate, you are
the best Bunny buddy one could ever have.

(01:02:55):
Wow, you're so nice. I what do I?
What do I notice? You look around the room, you
look at the door. Nothing's changed that.
That's pretty much the gist of it.
It's more illuminated now with the with the moon kind of
shining down in the center, but it hasn't really changed the

(01:03:15):
room other than the constellations look a little bit
brighter. OK, maybe we need to get the sun
at the top instead of the moon. I mean, it's a Temple of Soul,
right? I I mean, I am no scholar, I am
a woman of action. But while your words make sense
and I'm going to go ahead and pull it again and see if I can

(01:03:36):
rotate. Rotate it until the sun is the
top. Cool.
You continue turning the wheel and the mood moon heads
downward, eventually disappearing and then a bright
sun appears traveling up the Dome and hits its zenith at the
top and a beam of sunlight shines straight down onto the
stone, illuminating the engravings and like liquid gold

(01:03:59):
flowing through the cracks the the rays like illuminate in this
room, showing a beautiful pattern throughout the entire
room. It's the engravings all light
up. It's a spectacle to see and you
look at the double door and thislike pattern like goes up on the
door and there's rays of sunlight splashing out on the

(01:04:21):
door. And then at the top of the door
some text appears in common thatsays the longer you look, the
less you see. Wow, it's so pretty.
I mean, does that mean looking at the sun 'cause you shouldn't

(01:04:42):
look at the sun? I don't know.
You say that out loud and the doors open out out of this room.
Wow, brave and smart. It's a little little clap,
little golf clap. Oh, wow, I didn't think that was
going to work. OK, cool.

(01:05:03):
I guess let's. Go right, OK.
And River's, River's going to basically tried to go first
because she, you know, she's bigger.
She's like, OK, well let me let me go through the doors first.
Great. You walk through the doorway,
down a hall lit by this like golden sunlight engravings until

(01:05:26):
you reach another room and you walk in, Step inside this room
and it's 30 feet wide and in front of you in five feet is a
wall of darkness. It's like the light just stops
on the wall behind you. There is a single engraved torch

(01:05:49):
with the kind of like sun pattern on it.
On top of the torch is this golden orb that is providing
sunlight. And you can tell that the light
in this room is only coming fromthe torch that is kind of in a
kind of a sconce, but looks likeit's easily like you could
easily pick it up out of it. And it's got that golden light

(01:06:12):
shining from it. Do I see any cliffs on that on
the actual? Oh well, yeah, go ahead and roll
an investigation. Both of you can if you are going
to ask for help. Investigation would be an 11. 25
Again, we're a great. Team.

(01:06:32):
No wonder I married you in a previous episode.
Yeah. Namby you don't see anything on
there and river you double checkand make sure she doesn't see
anything and she does not see anything.
OK, so we we got to. Double check.
OK. Should we take that maybe?

(01:06:55):
I, I mean, I see. I think that's a great idea.
Let's give it a try. Would you like?
Would you like me to do it? If it's giving out sunlight,
maybe I should do it. OK, can I reach it?
Yes, you can. OK.
I was like, do I need to pick itup and give it to her?
Like how high up where you're talking?

(01:07:16):
It's not that high, OK, but now I wish it.
Was though. Now I really wish it was, I kind
of, I kind of wish it was like super high and I'm like picking
it off the top shelf to hand to her.
All right, She she reaches out for it.
OK. You grab it off the wall and you
hold it. And as you're holding it now a
little bit closer to that wall of darkness, you can see that

(01:07:38):
the light kind of penetrates it a little bit.
And just by like testing it, it seems like this, this torch,
this kind of magical torch is giving 5 feet, 5 feet radius of
light. OK, I want to take out also a

(01:08:02):
candle that I have and just use the light can trip on it and see
if it has the same effect. OK, you cast the light, can trip
on it, and the candlelight lights up and you put it forward
into the darkness. It doesn't seem to be affecting

(01:08:23):
the darkness at all. And then you your hand just
disappears as it goes into the darkness.
It looks like that that isn't even going to even a magical
source of light is not going to work for this.
OK, I guess this is it. So stick close I guess.
We'll stand together. OK, so I'm going to go ahead and

(01:08:47):
with with consent, I'm going to pick up namby and and put her on
my shoulders. I was actually going to ask, so
that is perfect. Great.
With consent, consent is given. OK, So we're gonna go ahead and
you know. Namby, yeah, You get on top of
River's shoulders and that just, yeah, reminds you of, of someone

(01:09:11):
else, yeah. That's so weird.
You step forward, the three of you keeping close into the
darkness, and the five foot wallof light creates this kind of
circular orb of light around youand you step inside and are
fully enveloped by the darkness. You look down on the floor, it's

(01:09:34):
like stone tiles on the floor, and you cautiously step forward
in the direction that you feel like is the correct direction.
The stone tiles have lines on them, so you feel pretty good
about going in a straight line, but you pace forward a little
bit, 5 feet, 10 feet, 15 feet, and then suddenly 3 radiant

(01:10:01):
forms made of light appear around you.
In the darkness. You can see them, they're maybe
15 feet away, and then they slowly start to approach.
When you say radiant forms just like like humanoid creatures
that are. Like humanoid humanoid forms
that are just made of light. Oh, very cool.

(01:10:27):
They slowly approach you and namby, you're holding the torch
and you can see the torch startsto light up and there are words
that appear on the torch. The three figures jump forward,
raise their arms and swing to strike at all of you.
Everyone roll initiative. Oh boy. 17 for river. 17 OK
Namby what'd? You get 11.

(01:10:51):
So these radiant forms jump forward and they are going to
strike. Each one's going to attack one
of you and so first one on nambythat is a 16 to hit.
No. Second one on to river is a 19

(01:11:14):
to hit. Hit.
River, you take 10 points of radiant damage and third one on
to Navrog is going to hit Navrogfor 10 points of damage of
radiant damage. And so you see as these, you
know, radiant forms of lights appeared spectral and kind of

(01:11:37):
wonderful at first. Move slowly forward toward you
and then leap out at you and slash at you and hit you with
this radiant damage. That is their turn.
River, you're up. OK so I'm going to go up to the
closest one and try to attack itwith my frosty warhammer.
OK. And that is an 18. 18 will hit.

(01:12:05):
OK, great. And that's going to be 9
bludgeoning damage and then thatis going to be an additional 4
frost damage on that attack, so.13 damage you swing with that

(01:12:27):
hit and you hit something salt. You hit a little bit of solid
with it, but it's like your yourwarhammer like goes through it.
The Bone Crusher just kind of goes through it.
You see that some of that cold damage goes into this radiant
form. It did take damage from that.
OK, let's try it again. OK, 19.

(01:12:48):
Yes. OK.
And that is 7 bludgeoning and six points of frost damage. 7:00
and 6:00. Seven and six, yes.
You swing at it, you hit it withthat bludging damage, and some
of that light goes away, and then the frost just goes up and

(01:13:08):
takes away the rest of the radiant light and that one is
gone. OK, great.
And then with my bonus action I lifted up.
So the consuming the mutagens isa bonus action.
So I'm going to consume one of my mutagens.
So I'm going to pull a small vial out of my out of my pack,

(01:13:30):
uncork it. It's going to have a a strange
smell and a kind of like, you know, weird mist coming from it.
So it's very odd. And I'm going to consume the.
Let's see, let's do Vermilion. And so you consume that and it
burns going down and you gain anadditional use of your blood

(01:13:53):
maledict feature. You haven't used that one yet,
but I. Have not.
However, you have disadvantage on death saving throws.
Correct. Correct, as you feel the poison
kind of not poison, but the mutagen, the very potent mutagen
kind of invigorate your body. Great.

(01:14:13):
Anything else? That's it.
All right, Namby, you're up. OK, do I know what the heck just
happened? Do I know what that is with the
muted mutagen? No, you just saw a river just
take out a vial and consume it and looks like it invigorated

(01:14:36):
her a little bit but kind of affected her.
She looks stronger, but kind of just like when she took the
knife in her hand to to cause some damage to get a buff.
That seemed like that's what happened again.
OK, OK. And then looking back at these
radiant beings, I mean, do they look like my radiant strikes of

(01:14:56):
damage? Like do I get the like thought
that like if I attack them with radiant damage it's not going to
do anything? You could roll Arcana for that,
but I mean, yeah, you. Could roll.
I mean, I know I might just haveto do it and see, but like,
well, that's 10. You're not sure?
Yeah, they're like right there though, right, 'cause I'm still

(01:15:20):
on reverse shoulders. Yep, you're still on reverse
shoulders. OK, I'm just going to reach out
and try and touch one and do inflict wounds.
OK. Does it do a save or anything
or? Is it?
Nope, it's oh sorry, I have to roll to attack the OK or sorry.
No, no, no, I'm so sorry. I'm messing everything up.

(01:15:40):
It is a save. It's a con Save 15.
OK, roll A3A5A5. OK well then it takes 14
necrotic damage. OK, almost takes it out
completely. You do that, you reach out and
touch it and it just starts to this like black necrotic like

(01:16:04):
almost like darkness, like turning the radiant light into
into soot like overtakes most ofthis radiant form Anything else
for turn. That is it.
OK, Navrog, he's going to take his his sword out, his bone
sword and I'm going to swipe twice and hit once.

(01:16:29):
As he does that, you see right before he does that in a rune is
invoked on his on his sword and he kind of slices his hand a
little bit and you can see his sword becomes cold.
It becomes cold as well, swings and hits one of the hits, the

(01:16:54):
one that's by him and does 16 points of total damage to it and
it is looking weak as well. As he swings his sword kind of
chops through the the radiant light slicing this being in half
and the cold kind of creeping upto the rest of it.
And that is his turn back up to the top of the initiative.

(01:17:17):
Another radiant form, the standing where the one was just
taken out appears and it is going to swipe at river.
So now there are again three around you and that is a 17 to
hit. I hit. 10 points of damage,

(01:17:39):
radiant damage. The next one to Namby is a 20 to
hit. Yep.
That's 10 points of radiant damage, and then to Navrog,
that's a 22 to hit, and that is 10 points to Navrog.
That is their turn. River, you're up.

(01:18:00):
All right, let's go ahead and attack again.
You have the one that just spawned in that looks full
health, there's one next to you that Nambi had attacked that's
like half health, and there's one behind or that's more than
bloodied, and then the one behind that's also more than
more than bloodied. OK, this I guess 7-7 to hit. 7

(01:18:24):
does not hit. Does miss, Yes.
OK, let's try again. 1616 hits great.
I'm going to go for the one that's looking a little weaker.
OK. And that's 8 bludgeoning and 3

(01:18:45):
frost damage. 8 bludgeoning, 3 frost warhammer comes in and
takes out takes out that one that was weak.
OK, great. Anything else for your turn?
Let me see. I have a very long list.
I'm going to go ahead and look at the one it just appeared that

(01:19:07):
has full health, and I'm going to curse it.
I'm going to do the blood curse of bloated agony.
As you you're thinking about using that and remember you've
had enough training to remember that in order to do a blood
curse, it has to be on a an enemy that has blood.

(01:19:28):
Blood. Oh, and so you think about
you're, you're like, I want to use this and then you're and
then realize. I can't.
OK, I can't do it. OK, I couldn't do it on the
skeletons, I can't do it on thisradiant light.
All right, no blood curse. All right, I'm good then.
I'm good then. OK.
Yeah, Namby, you're up. OK I think just use sacred flame

(01:19:56):
if they're pretty hurt. I'm going to use Sacred Flame on
whichever 1 looks the weakest, and that's a deck save 15.
Rolled A-17. Boo.
OK, well. And you cast sacred flame, this
thing just like, just like becomes light and shifts to the

(01:20:16):
side, doesn't, doesn't get hit by it.
Well, Yep, last return. OK, Navrog is going to swipe at
the one in front of him. That's pretty weak.
Misses on his first, hits on his2nd.
Classic Knobrog. Classic Knobrog and that will

(01:20:39):
take out the one that was by himand that one is out as he swings
his his sword into it and just misses once the the radiant
light kind of steps back and then he stabs forward, lunges
forward, stabs it right into itschest, into its heart and it
shrivels away into this cold with this cold energy.

(01:20:59):
We are back up at the top. Just as Navrog stabs into one
and goes away. Another one forms right next to
him as well as the one that river you had just taken out as
well. Another being of light stands
forward right there. There are three there again and
they are all going to make attacks on each of you.

(01:21:22):
First one is going to be on to Namby and that is a 23 to hit.
That'll be 10 points of radiant damage.
Second one is a 19 to hit on river.
Hit. 10 points of radiant damageand 3rd 1 is a 17 to hit on
Navrog which does hit him for 10points of radiant damage.

(01:21:45):
River, you're up. OK, so OK, so I can't use that
one now. 3 beings of this radiant light in front of you,
all at full health. I'm going to go ahead and reach
up to the torch that Namby is holding and basically ask if I

(01:22:08):
can grab it. Yeah.
As you as you do that, you look up to grab it and you realize
that it there are words written on the torch now that are lit
up. OK.
All right, I'm going to read it.Yeah, you look at the torch, The
words on the torch read. Your inner light will always

(01:22:30):
outshine the darkness. I was going to try to attack one
of the light creatures with the torch.
OK. And so I'm going to basically
like hold the Warhammer in one hand and then hold the torch in
the other hand and try to attackwith the torch.

(01:22:51):
I don't know what that would look like.
Would that be an armed strike or?
That well that'll be so you don't I don't think you can use
improvised weapons. So this'll go ahead and make an
attack roll with it and we'll say it's a an armed strike.
OK, OK with your Yeah, well, we'll call it an unarmed strike.

(01:23:14):
18 will hit is how we roll. Sorry.
Yes, Yeah, yes, OK, yeah, 18 hits.
You swing forward and hit. It looks like it does about four
points of damage. The orb kind of cracks at the
top as you hit the being. What were the What were the
words again? Your inner light will always

(01:23:34):
outshine the darkness. We could do.
I don't think smacking it with the torch was the right idea.
And to think, do you, I mean is there any, any like light spell

(01:23:56):
that you have or? I mean, I cast the light
cantrip, it didn't outshine the IT didn't outshine the darkness
when we tried it. I mean, does it mean the inner
light of the orb like we should smash the orb or does that mean
you're you just? Maybe we don't.
Maybe it means that we don't need the orb to we we don't need

(01:24:18):
the, we need, don't need like the magic light.
Maybe we like if we break it, then our inner light will shine.
Either that or we're going to bein complete pitch darkness.
Yeah. Please, Oh my God.
Yeah, that would be. Terrible.
Oh boy, oh boy. Maybe it's maybe it's a test of
faith that if we destroy the orb, we have to test that, you

(01:24:38):
know, believe that our inner life will still shine without
the light of the magical orb. It'd be Is this still your turn?
I lost track of what's. Going on?
Yes, right in the middle of a turn.
It's OK. All right.
So I guess. So quickly make a decision on
what you're you have you've attacked once with the with.

(01:25:01):
The and the orb is cracked. I guess the question I'm going,
I'm going to turn to Namby and ask if if she thinks I should
attack again because I have one more attack.
You know, you're the as you know, you're the cleric, you're
the temple cleanser. What do you believe we should do
here? I'm going to give both my full
faith in her on this decision. I don't think attacking is the

(01:25:23):
right option because we just keep getting swarmed.
Should we? Should I break the orb?
Do it. OK, so I'm gonna go ahead and
swing again. Let's let's swing again.
Smash it on, smash it on the ground or something.
OK, I'm gonna smash it on the ground.
OK, 17 to hit the ground. Yeah, You take the you take the

(01:25:46):
the torch in your hand and you reach up and smash it down on
the ground and the light goes out and then on.
The hallway is clear, the darkness is gone, and you're in
an empty hallway. We're the best team ever.
Oh my gosh, that was so scary. I really don't like being

(01:26:07):
trapped in the dark. I'm going to, I'm going to like
her feet are here. I'm going to give her feet a
little like a reassuring squeeze.
Oh, I'm ticklish. Oh, I'm sorry.
I'm. Sorry.
OK. Oh, deep breath.
All. Right.
What do we see? The this hallway is like 30 feet

(01:26:29):
by 100 feet and it's empty now. OK.
There is the walls, the light that came on or the kind of
golden light travelling across the the walls, illuminating the
rest of the hallway as this golden light continues to push
further into into this temple. Hey Navrog, you good?

(01:26:54):
How hard to see how much? He looks, he's not bloodied, but
he's close. He he.
Yeah, I that hit me almost everytime.
Should we should we take 10 minutes and get a little
healing? I I took a decent amount that
fight too. I would appreciate that young

(01:27:15):
one. I this this temple is is very
dangerous. I am very grateful that you came
with us. I don't think we would have made
it very far. I'm happy to help so we can
cleanse this temple. Should we go maybe close to the

(01:27:36):
door just in case the light goesout again or something?
Then we're we're close to getting out just in case, like
just to sit and do the 10 minuterest like by the by the door to
the next area essentially so. That sounds wise.
That sounds. Wise, it's not a very long
hallway anyway, right? It's like.

(01:27:57):
It's by like 100 feet. I mean, it's not.
It's not too bad to deal. We'll just, we'll just kind of
set up on one side. OK, prayer of healing please
soul bless us with good healing in this role.
Thank you. Namaste.
No, no Moss too. All right, two D 8 + 4, so

(01:28:18):
that's 16 to everybody. Nice.
Great. That's very helpful.
Thank you. And hey, River, if you don't
mind with consent, like you saidearlier, do you mind if I put a
spell on you that will kind of help help protect you?

(01:28:42):
No, I I welcome any 8 with gratitude.
So she she reaches out and touches river and casts warding
bond. So you get a + 1 dear AC, you
get and saving throws, and you have resistance to all damage
for an hour. Oh, that's pretty cool.

(01:29:04):
OK. And that's.
Going on but also each time so you so the IT gives you
resistance, but also each time you take damage you also take
that damage dampy. Oh, so that's so.
That's right. Yeah.
So it's basically it's having the damage, but like not really
'cause you're. 'Cause I'm taking the damage,
share damage. OK, yeah, yeah, we're splitting

(01:29:25):
it. But you still get the plus one
to AC and saving throws. All right.
Yeah, the damage is going somewhere, just not on you
necessarily. And I can drop it if I'm like,
gonna die. Great, great.
No, that's fine. That's totally fine.
That's actually so helpful. OK, well I guess I don't have to
consume another mutagen. Cool.

(01:29:46):
All right. Traveling forward.
Yeah. OK.
You walk through the door and into the inner sanctum of this
temple. There is a 20 foot 25 foot wide
tunnel that opens up into a large circular room just like

(01:30:07):
the first room. At the center of that room, 60
feet away from you, is a large, beautiful crystalline sun
sitting atop a pedestal. The sun is swirling with dark
black energy inside it. Standing before it is a man in

(01:30:27):
sorcerer's robes, with a short black beard and Gray just
starting to show in his beard through his hood.
I'm doing that. Holy character.
Wow. This is so much more immersive
now. Yeah, apparently this is what's
happening. Through his hood you see

(01:30:50):
piercing glowing red eyes, and he holds a staff topped with a
red glowing gem. As you step inside, he looks up
and sees you. Hello trespassers, I am the
great wizard Theoxophilian, master of Death.

(01:31:12):
This temple which was once builtfor soul now belongs to me.
Turn away or fight and give me your bones to be added to my
army. You don't.
You don't get our bones, that's all, she yells.

(01:31:36):
She waits and see if he responds.
Then you are leaving. Why are you all red?
It's that the his eyes just likeflash, you know, like just glare
red and you can tell it's pointed like at you namby, like
you recognize that red? Then we will fight.

(01:32:01):
And he raises his arms And outside from the sides of the
walls. The yeah from the sides of the
walls. I don't think we're we friends
bro. You can see these, there's Crips
and there are skeletons that arestarting to come out of these.
These Crips from the walls. Everyone roll initiative.

(01:32:24):
I got a 2121. River. 14.
One second as I get set up here. This guy definitely has blood.
You can tell this guy is a human.
This. Guy has blood, River is excited.

(01:32:47):
Give me that blood. Yes.
Yes, so he is. He is 55 feet away from you and
Namby, you are up first. As he is raising his arms.
These skeletons are coming out, but they are not in place yet.
You kind of beat his initiative to for him to use this ability

(01:33:09):
and so these skeletons are climbing out.
Namby, you're quick on the draw to to act.
It is your turn. OK.
Do I get the sense that if I moved up on him and then used
like a channel divinity that I'dbe able to stop more skeletons
from coming out? Yeah, they are like alive and

(01:33:29):
moving and so. 'Cause it's it's a 30 foot
range, so I could use my bonus action rabbit hop to get 40
feet, 45 feet of movement so that I'd only be 10 feet away
from him. So like 20 feet back behind him
would also be affected. Yeah.
So the the the answer is yes, the area would all be effective

(01:33:54):
like you would. It covers the entire.
Area cool that I wanting to cover that I would like to do
that. I will get within 10 feet of him
using rabbit hop and then I willchannel divinity holding my yeah
little little symbol of soul andjust hold it up and like sun

(01:34:15):
will just burst out from me likeI'm dead, be gone.
You dart forward and like Bunny move as these skeletons are
trying to get into into place. Dart here, jump this way, hop
over them as they're trying to get into place and land in front
of him. The skeletons kind of form a

(01:34:36):
line behind you and so that there is there at this point
blocking the entire hallway. They rolled their kind of next
and their initiative. You hold your symbol up and you
cast that Channel on Divinity Turn Undead, which is also
destroy undead. And so they're going to have to
make that. Was that Wisdom saving throw or?

(01:34:58):
Is it? It is 15 Wisdom save. 15 OK and
they all have a -, 1 and so I'm going to roll five of these for
these 5 skeletons and I'm going to roll it as a Tavern roll so
we can see they have to get a 16.
No whammies. One look at those roles, A1A4, a

(01:35:21):
nine and a four and a 16. Heck yeah.
So, so you present that light, the sunlight blasts outward from
you and and 3/4 of the skeletonsjust just blast away, hit back
into the Crips, into the walls. You can see that they're wearing
some like some armor that you recognize are are adornments of

(01:35:44):
soul. You know they these are were
buried individuals in the size of these crypts.
There's one standing left with this, you know, this old rusted
sword and this old rusted shield.
Just one standing in the middle of this hallway.
Anything else for your turn? No, because that's bonus action
action. I'm done.

(01:36:07):
It is it's turn and so it is going to walk forward and swing
at you for a 7 to hit. No.
Just misses you just barely. You just barely duck.
It's the slow, it's just the skeleton slow arm like and you
just easily dodge it. River, you're up.

(01:36:30):
OK great. So the wizard is 55 feet away
and the skeleton and namby are how far away from me?
4545 OK and I believe I have 30 feet of movement.
Yes. So I'm gonna go ahead and dash

(01:36:51):
and as my action and get 10 feetaway from the wizard.
Can I get around? There's it's just a skeleton.
What's your if you dash to him? Oh yeah, you're, oh, you're just
trying to get in range of your melee.
Correct because I have I have 10feet of range melee as a long
armed half roll. That's correct.

(01:37:14):
And then I'm going to see, let'ssee, is there a bonus action I
want to take? Let's see.
So as I've discerned, this is a creature that has blood.
So I'm going to use a blood curse on this creature in front
of me. It's within.
I'm going to do the blood curse of bloated Agony.

(01:37:35):
So I'm going to get within 10 feet and then hold out my hand
and start to mutter under my breath this for the duration
this creature has basically disadvantage on strength and
ducts checks and takes 1D8 necrotic damage.
I'm going to go ahead and amplify the curse.

(01:37:58):
What? And so that means that I roll
the 1D6 for damage to myself, and that makes this curse last
for a full minute. Cool.
OK, so I'm going to go ahead androll for damage.
OK, so that's one damage. Nice.
You rolled A6 on the first one, right?
And. Then I did.
That's a. Little bad on this one.

(01:38:20):
Yes, you are now balanced. So as, as I'm muttering like,
you know, like I, I, I cut my hand again and just a little
drop of blood comes out and, youknow, like mists and then it's
heading. You're a little, you're
inexperienced with these skills,You know, you, you haven't, you
haven't quite mastered them. But you haven't quite mastered.
You're learning it very fast. Anything else for your turn?

(01:38:42):
No, you in order so in order to get to him, well actually no,
you would have entered the skeleton space that attacked
Nabi, so you haven't left the skeleton space.
So I was going to have him a skeleton do a.
Opportunity. Attack.
But it doesn't, it doesn't, it doesn't work because you're you
haven't left the range because you can stand 10 feet away from
the from the wizard. So.

(01:39:04):
Yes. Excellent.
Oh sorry, the necrotic damage isif it makes more than one
attack. More than one attack, yes,
correct. And that's AD eight that yes,
that what happened. Navrog is going to do a very
similar thing to you, and he is going to dart forward and he is

(01:39:24):
going to dash in order to get into range.
And he has to get right up closeto the wizard.
So he's going to take the opportunity attack from the
skeleton. Skeleton swipes actually clips
him, actually gets him for six points of damage as he as he

(01:39:48):
goes forward, takes that the thesword clips him as he runs
forward. And then he gets right in the
face of the of this wizard, thisnecromancer wizard.
And he is going to use his bloodcurse as well.
He is going to use a blood cursive binding and he is not

(01:40:09):
going to amplify it. But what he has to do now is
make a strength saving throw, which he has disadvantage to now
because of yours I think, right?Disadvantage on strength and
decks. Yes.
So he's going to have a disadvantage on this strength
saving throw and fails it. Yes, definitely fails it.

(01:40:36):
And it's a blood cursive binding.
And so now the Necromancer's speed is 0 and it can't use
reactions until the end of Navrog's next next turn.
And that is his turn. Awesome.
The Necromancer is going to raise his staff up.

(01:40:56):
He's not going to target Navrog because he can't with this
ranged attack or no, it's melee too.
He can do this. So he's going to first attack at
Navrog with this. It's a arcane burst.
The natural one misses Navrog asyou see this red energy go out
of this staff and just whiff past Navrog.

(01:41:18):
Navrog like like as he's runningup, you know, ducks down as this
arcane blast misses him, he's going to take another, another
attack. As he's taking that another
attack, he's going to take 1D8 of necrotic damage for taking
the multi attack. So go ahead and give me the
damage that he'll take from that.
Yes, chef. OK, that is A1 damage.

(01:41:44):
Very large one damage. One damage, OK.
Under crop kiss. And he is still going to he's
going to cast it at Navrog. Navrog is really his is right in
front of him. Just cast that thing.
So he's going to try his best toget rid of Navrog misses with
his second attack. This poor this poor match.

(01:42:11):
You suck. The Kyle Rolls are coming in
strong now. Thank goodness.
I was wondering with those skeletons, Yeah, skeletons.
Was wondering about those. Yeah.
Misses with one misses with another one.
He has another arcane burst attack that he can do.
He's going to take another or NoNo, he he only takes the 1D8 if
he takes, so he's already takinghis one Necrotic.

(01:42:33):
He's taking his one damage for the multi.
Attack. So he's going to try and hit not
frog with a third one hits with this one.
As this energy hits Navrog, Navrog's going to take 25 points
and you can see him like grabbing his head as as Navrog

(01:42:54):
takes that damage, but he can't move.
He's he's he's there as Navrog'sblood curse.
You could see it's like the veins in his neck pop out.
It's just like his blood is holding him in place as he's
trying to struggle to leave and get out of the way.
He can't namby. It is your turn and you have a

(01:43:17):
skeleton right behind you and the wizard in front of you.
Behind the wizard is this glass crystalline sun that is on top
of a pedestal and is just swirling with this black dark
energy. OK, Do I, can I do an arcana

(01:43:39):
check or something for free to know if there's like something
going Like obviously there's something bad happening 'cause
there's like black stuff swirling around in this sun
crystal, but I think. It's pretty.
I think it'd be What's clear to you at face value is the
Oxophilian said this is this wasonce a Temple of Soul.

(01:43:59):
It's my temple now. And he's standing next to this
thing that's swirling with blackenergy.
So at face value it, it seems like he's kind of behind the
corruption here. OK.
If that, but you can roll if you're looking for a specific
other type of answer. I guess I'm looking for.
Is it helpful for me to interactwith this crystal in order to

(01:44:22):
try and purify it mid fight? Or is it should my priority be
taking this guy out? I guess would be like her.
That is a choice. That is a.
That is a choice. I don't think there's a role for
that. OK, this is just what I have to
decide, OK? I think she's gonna go this safe
route for right now and plan to maybe do something next round

(01:44:47):
since she's got multiple people around her right now she is
going to cast spirit guardians. Oh nice.
Which means 15 feet all around her are little bursts of sun
that kind of flicker around. And whenever an enemy starts
their turn there or moves into it, they will take damage on a

(01:45:12):
based on a wisdom safe, which they no, they don't have
disadvantage on that. They have disadvantage on decks,
but regardless. So can she move in any way to
not take opportunity attacks, but to put more enemies in that
range? It's just the one skeleton in
him. OK.

(01:45:33):
So as long as they're both in it.
Yeah, they're. Both I guess maybe she would
move closer to the crystal if she can without taking
opportunity attacks. You can't, because the
skeleton's right behind you. OK, all right then.
That's that's my turn and I'll wait till they go to.
The start of their turn. I think that happens.
Cool. Well, the skeleton's going to

(01:45:55):
try and swing at you. OK.
He takes his his short sort out stabs forward for a 15 to hit.
No, and it takes damage. It has to do a wisdom save.
OK, rolls a Wisdom save of 6. Heck yeah, All right, 3D3D8 that

(01:46:17):
would be. And there's no plus, so 14. 14
skeletons have 13 points of of health.
HB How does your What does your spirit guardians look like?
How does it take out? Take out the skeleton.
So so they are just little just like basically little mini Suns
that just kind of like burst andlike move all around me.

(01:46:40):
So if there's something in the area, they will kind of like
swarm it and like poof away and then like more will come to like
replace where they were. You know, amazing that happens
with the skeleton. The skeleton's overwhelmed, and
as it tries to stab forward at you, it doesn't even get to make
the attack right because the start of its.

(01:47:01):
Turn it takes damage. And you just that that sword
just falls on the on the ground.Clank, clank, clank, clank.
And there's no skeleton behind you anymore.
Perfect. River, you are up and the the
wizard is 10 feet in front of you.
All right, let's try to smack them.

(01:47:25):
I'm going to pull out my still frosty Warhammer that is 22.
Yes, that will hit. OK.
And that is six points of bludgeoning and six points of
frost. Great, you smack into him and do

(01:47:49):
that. 12 points of damage. I'm going to try to hit him
again quick. Let's see that is 24 to hit.
That will hit. And that is 10 points of
bludgeoning damage and five points of frost damage.

(01:48:09):
You just take Bone Crusher and just Wham, Wham into him and he
just hits him in the stomach andhe double s over and you can
just see this cold energy just like splash him in the in in the
face as well. And he's just taking a couple
hits. He'd it does look like he does
have some, you know, there's some magical protection there.

(01:48:30):
Both of your hits hit him, but he is still standing, still
looking very good. OK, I'm good.
So as my bonus action I'm going to invoke the Crimson, right?
Since I did damage with a weaponthat has a right active on it.
Let's see. Wait, wait, what is it called?
No, it is the Brand. I'm going to do Brand of

(01:48:50):
Castigation. Sorry, there's a lot of things
in this particular subclass. I'm searing an arcane brand into
the creature. I'll always know the direction
of the creature, and each time the wizard tries to damage me or
another creature that I can see within 5 feet of me that that
creature take the wizard will take 4 psychic damage.

(01:49:12):
So you'll see like I'm hitting him and then, you know,
something will start glowing on him.
So he's been marked essentially by my by my weapon brand of he's
been branded. So he will take damage if he
does damage to you or a creaturewithin 5 feet of you.
Any creature, either me or somebody within 5 feet of me.

(01:49:35):
So I'm, I don't think also. If he takes more than one attack
around, he gets he takes. It he gets necrotic damage from
the from the Curse of bloated agony.
So yeah, sorry wizard, hope you roll better next time.
Did you take damage when you activated that?
From let's see, I don't think I think, I don't think you.

(01:49:55):
Not for this one. Not for this one.
Yeah, that's only yeah, because if you hit him, then you get to
use that. Correct.
And I get to, I get to use it once per short rest.
So it's I can only use it once. That's a great question.
Most of the things that I do, I actually do take damage from.
So everything, every kind of benefit has cost.
So it's it's kind of baked in, right.

(01:50:18):
That's a good question. And I think that psychic damage
he will take is just 4 right. I think it is.
It's just a flat 4. Great.
Navrog is going to take out his bone sword and and swipe at the
wizard. He's going to miss on his first
one going to glance off some unseen armor that the the the

(01:50:38):
some major armor that the wizardis wearing.
Second hit will second swipe will hit adjust his you know,
swings hits the hits this armor he wasn't expecting adjust his
adjusts his attack and stabs forward through into the wizard
and does 17 points of piercing damage plus five points of cold

(01:51:03):
damage As he as he gets into thewizard and you see the sword
kind of stab and glance him off the side and just that cold,
leaving this like cold wound that you can see through his
robes. And that is Navrog's turn the

(01:51:23):
wizard. Let's see, can he move yet?
What was the what? Was the curse you can't use
until until the end of your nextturn.
OK, so he. Can he can move he.
Can now move, OK, great. He is going to step backwards
and no, he's not going to step backwards.
He doesn't want to take that opportunity attack.

(01:51:45):
Oh, is it the start of his turn?Sorry.
He should take. He should take SO DC-15 wisdom.
Spirit Guardians. Yes, DC-15 Wisdom saving throw.
Good, good job. Rolling 19.
OK, so he does. He takes half.
Oh, that's oh, that's pretty good though. 18 half to 9.

(01:52:12):
Spirit of Guardians effects him.He looks over to U River and he
says, I am in need of a of a newLieutenant, tall one.
Your bones will be excellent forthe promotion.
And he raises his arms up and hekind of whips his hand around
and he's going to cast a spell. And you see this the entire rest

(01:52:39):
of the room in like a circular fashion that just meets up to
him but doesn't affect him. There is this necrotic energy
that just destroys the floor andand snakes around in this spell
called circle of death. Everybody needs to make a
Constitution saving throw. You have a + 1.

(01:53:04):
Oh, that's true. Oh, that's not very good.
That's a six. I got an 18.
OK, so Namby, you are going to succeed on this and take half
damage. River, you're going to take full
damage and Navrog is going to take.

(01:53:25):
So essentially I take full damage and you take half damage
river 'cause I'm. Oh yeah, you're going.
To be. That's true.
Yeah. So Navrog is going to fail as
well and take full damage. OK, so how does that work?
So you so. I take half and she takes half,
so we split it right. Yeah, but I'm also taking the

(01:53:46):
damage. So I basically am taking the.
Full damage. So you're just taking full
damage, Yeah. And River's taking half OK.
Unless I might get rid of the bond.
Unless you drop it. Yeah, like, which is totally up
to you. OK.
If he's going to be area of affecting us, that's not going
to go well for me. Yeah, that's fine.
That's fine. As this necrotic energy sweeps

(01:54:09):
around this room in the circle death spell, 33 points of damage
comes your way namby half of that 16 to to river and then 33
as well to Nabrog. Nabrog looks very.
Bad. I know this is being like really
nitty gritty. I think technically because it

(01:54:30):
resists on river and I take half.
I think I only take 32 'cause I think I take 16 twice.
Sure. Yeah, makes sense.
Yeah, I love it. Give me my one.
Point back. Brooke's characters have
survived by one point. Yeah, I know.
I. Before so this is totally fair.

(01:54:54):
Navrog looks bad. Navrog looks really bad.
He took the full, full force of that as that necrotic energy.
Just you can see it like taking down his his green skin is is
just like turning dark and duskyall over his body, but he's
still standing. He's he's still standing River

(01:55:16):
and Namby. You take that damage as well,
and he is going to realize that nobody has died from that.
And you can see he's got some panic in his eyes, I think.
Or you're about to say he takes damage because he attacked.
Yeah. Yeah, so he takes 4 psychic
damage I think. Is it for each or is it flat?

(01:55:43):
I think it's for each each. Each time he damages me or
somebody within 5 feet. So I guess the question is how
many people are within 5 feet ofme?
Both are within. Well, actually, technically only
Namby is five feet away from. Me.
OK. So that would be 10 then, right?
OK. Yeah, we will say 10.
I think that that's the case andwe'll I think we'll go with that

(01:56:05):
because he is affecting you boththat's and so, so yes, he takes
that eight points of psychic damage and he you look, he is
starting to look afraid. He doesn't look as confident as
he was. His staff.
This is it. This is his turn is over.
His staff is red gem on top of the staff, and the entire staff

(01:56:29):
turns into a red slime and movesout of his grasp.
And you and you see him look at the red slime.
What are you doing? You promised, and it's moving
out of the range of Navrog. Navrog is going to be able to
make an opportunity attack. He's going to swipe at this red

(01:56:51):
slime and hit it and it is goingto take 23 points of damage. 18
of that was bludgeoning, 5 of itwas cold.
Good sweat, good swipe on it andit is going to move away from

(01:57:12):
from from the wizard and you cansee a portal opening up in the
back wall of the of this room. I say you Namby is the only one
who sees this. It's red portal that opens up
and it moves toward it and gets right up right up next to it.

(01:57:38):
We are back up to the top of theinitiative.
Namby, it's your turn. OK, so the red slime is moving
to the portal. Yes.
And Namby's the only one that knows this is happening.
You can see the red slime. Which I can't see the port.
The river, it looks like it's going to the back wall.
OK, the back wall of this circular room.

(01:58:01):
And you're like right next to meriver, like we're not far away
from each other. We're not within 5 feet, but
we're pretty close to each other, right?
I think like 10 feet. I don't know how far apart we
are. I think we should.
We're some I'm, I'm within 15 feet of you, I think because I
was close to the wizard. OK, I'm within 10 feet of the
wizard. So I think we're probably, I'm
probably within your spirit guardians.

(01:58:22):
I'd say I don't think I'm going to mess with the lime because I
don't want to die right now. Good choice.
You know I. Mean I've already died twice.
I don't really recommend it. Yeah, so I I think I'm going to
go up to the crystal and cast well, I guess let me know what I

(01:58:46):
see, Kyle. But what I'm assuming is I don't
necessarily want to cast a spellmagic because there might be
like positive soul magic on it. So maybe remove curse would be a
better idea. Doesn't Amby have any gut
feeling about this or checks youcould do?
Do an Arcana check. OK Oh my gosh, that's so bad.

(01:59:08):
That's a nine. It's a bit chaotic in here,
you're having trouble deciding. I'm gonna stick with the old,
the old trusty remove curse, andI'm gonna try it on the crystal
you cast. Don't smirk like that, Kyle.

(01:59:29):
I just love it 'cause you cast remove curse on this object, you
have to lay your hands on it, right?
Yeah, yeah, Touch spell. So you touch these this
crystalline glass sun and cast remove curse on it.
And this swirling dark energy within it starts to lighten to
Gray, to white and then to just this bright golden sunlight and

(01:59:54):
it shines and it blinds you. It's suddenly the room is just
blinding with light and your eyes have to adjust and the the
glow goes down of this this orb in the middle.
And standing behind the orb is afigure with a white tunic on.
Light skinned humanoid figure, golden hair and eyes that Pierce

(02:00:18):
with with golden irises, beautiful white wings spread out
from behind him. And he holds this magnificent
great great sword in his hand. It's golden great sword.
And he looks down and looks at the necromancer who starts to
get on his knees and tries to run away from this Angel that

(02:00:44):
stands before him. You all are fairly stunned by
this as this necromancer is is moving away and trying to Sprint
away. And he darts through the middle
of you. If you want to, you can make a a
opportunity attack. Navrog is not, he's sitting.
He's standing there slack jawed as at whatever just happened.

(02:01:05):
If you want to make an opportunity attack for this guy
as he's moving between you trying to get out, you can.
Yeah. Go ahead.
Oh, that was quite good 23. 23 that will hit all.
Right, that's just five bludgeoning.

(02:01:30):
OK, you hit him for five bludgeoning damage, he falls a
little bit and gets and stumblesa little bit further.
River. You can make an attack as well
if you'd like. OK, I'm going to try to grapple
him. OK, great.
He's he has disadvantage to this.
Yeah. So it's a it's a contested role,
right. So you'll roll your strength.

(02:01:51):
Oh, OK. Yeah, yeah.
Sounds good. Yeah.
Which we have to actually figureout if we're going to continue
to rule opportunity attacks thatyou can grapple.
I think we did not do that for earlier.
We'll figure it out. We're logging.
In All right, all right, OK, allright, Going to give it a try.
OK, that's 16. Yeah, he rolled a 14.

(02:02:12):
And so he tries to get away and you just reach out and grab him
with your long arms, your half troll arms.
And how do you how do you hold him?
I'm going to, oh man, I'm going to just reach out and grab him
by the neck and then lift him like a couple feet off the
ground and, and you know, be like, hey, what do you want to

(02:02:34):
do with this? You see the red slime monster in
the corner of the room to your eyes river disappear to Namby's
go through the portal. It goes through the portal.
This time the portal closes behind it before each time for
you Namby that portal has remained open.
That portal closed and river. You hold this wizard by the neck

(02:03:01):
and the wizard is looking forward at this divine Angel,
absolutely divine, radiating radiant light and is just
begging for mercy. Please, I, I, I didn't know I,
I, I didn't mean to, to take over the thing.
The, the, the, this, this red, this red slime monster tricked

(02:03:23):
me and thought and you know, youcan see him scrambling.
The Angel takes his great sword in his hand and releases it in
his hand, and it floats there. And then Jut's forge flies
forward into the wizard and strikes him straight in the

(02:03:44):
heart with just a movement of his hand.
And that is, let's see if it hits, it's a + 15 to hit.
That's a 32 to hit and. And recruit this guy to the
team. Does 22 slashing damage plus 24

(02:04:10):
radiant damage for a total of 46damage and kills the
necromancer. The the blade just sticks in him
and you feel the necromancer in your hands in your in your hand
just go limp. Probably drop the necromancer at
this point. Yeah, you lower him down and the

(02:04:34):
blade is still in him. The Angel beckons forward.
The blade it releases from the necromancer and floats back and
into the hand of the Angel who'swho sheaths the weapon.
OK, Do I recognize this visage as like an embodiment of soul?

(02:04:58):
As like give. Me a give me a religion check.
A was a 13A. 13 You know that there are you have heard of
angels before, so you have you have heard of angels for various
deities. Does soul have have angels?

(02:05:20):
Does he not have angels? Something that you've never
really known? It's not something that they
know in the university. It's not something that is
widely known about Seoul that ifif he has warriors.
And so this is confirmation of some of the debates that you've
heard that yes, he does have angels that as part of his that

(02:05:46):
as part of his specific pantheon, I guess.
Yeah, wow. I think I would just turn to the
Angel and just say thank you so much for your help.
Is is this temple purified? It is.

(02:06:07):
You are the one who has brought the light back into this temple.
I did with the help, with the help of these people here, yes.
I need it soft. Oh yeah, no more wizard.
No more wizard the. Wizard is dead.
The wizard is gone. Thank you.

(02:06:30):
This temple is brought back to light because of your actions
and the evil has been dispersed and you look you look around and
and this that golden light is isfully in all of the engravings
in the walls that you know that golden liquid light that seems
to go through and and twist its way through the room.

(02:06:50):
The room itself has just glittering light, radiant energy
into it. You feel like it's like coming
from the Angel himself because he's just so glorious.
Thank you. And what is your name?
My my name's Namby Pembleton. May soul bless you.

(02:07:13):
I am Abelam, an Angel of soul. He reaches forward and touches
you on the head and you feel some energy going to you.
And from now on, anytime that you roll for radiant damage,
you're A1 or A2 on the radiant die.

(02:07:34):
Count as a three instead. Awesome you.
Feel that radiant. Energy come into you.
That's. Awesome.
And he walks over to TU River and places a hand on you and you
regain 33 hit points. And he walks over to the Yeah to

(02:08:02):
do the same to Navrog and placesa hand on Navrog and heals him
for 39 hit points. Wow.
Oh, some Angel. Is this, Is this real?

(02:08:26):
Like, do you know where I am? Do you know what's going on?
This is real. I'm not sure what you mean.
I just, I feel like this isn't where I'm where I've normally

(02:08:46):
been. I think.
I don't really know how to explain it.
He is going to use his healing touch ability on you.
You and you heal for 38 hit points.
You are free from any cursed disease, poison, blindness or

(02:09:07):
deafness with this healing touch.
You guys were as well Reverend and Navrog, but I don't think
that you were had any of those conditions.
After he does that, he says, howdo you feel now?
Do I feel different? No.
OK, I mean, thank you. I feel, I feel, I feel healed,

(02:09:34):
but I still feel like this isn'twhere I'm supposed to be.
Well, may you find where you aresupposed to be.
For now, you have done an excellent thing.
You've turned the darkness to light, All of you have.
And he turns to leave, and as hewalks away from you, you can see

(02:09:59):
him kind of glowing with light. And then, just like that, he's
gone. A river, Yeah, though I didn't
really tell you something that Imaybe should have told you
before. I know your.

(02:10:23):
I know your brother. My brother, my little brother,
how is he? He's pretty good.
He misses you a lot. I miss him so much every day.
Yeah, he, he tries to live his life, you know, to make you

(02:10:44):
proud. So I just wanted to let you know
that. How is?
How is his drawing? Oh, he's really good.
And his baking. He's really good at that too.
Yeah, he's, he has a lot of talents.
He's super strong and and reallynice and makes really, really

(02:11:06):
yummy treats. So he's a really good friend.
I, I love, don't get me wrong, Ilove being part of the bone
guard, but I'm, I miss him everyday.
He's the, he's the one thing that I wish you know, I could
have with me. I miss him every day.
Just take care of yourself, OK? Because I, I know what it would

(02:11:28):
mean to him to, to not have you anymore.
And I know that would be really hard on him.
I appreciate it. Well, thank you.
Without you, I would have probably died more than twice
today. I'm happy to help.
Thank you guys for helping with this temple, it means a lot to

(02:11:52):
to set it right. And and please, if you see my
brother again, I love him. I have so many stories to tell
of all of my adventures and I cannot wait to tell them to him
in person. I'll let him know.
Thank you. I guess is there like, do I?

(02:12:14):
I look around, there's no more like red ooze or anything.
Nope, you don't see anything. Navrog is is kind of walking.
There's some some relics in hereAndy Andy looks and looks back
and he says these look like they're worth quite a lot.
I'm sure the church will be gladto have these back in their

(02:12:40):
possession. You see various, you know, vases
and relics around. The kind of starts to walk out,
I suppose. We've done our job.
OK, great. Yeah, I guess I just follow
along. I'm like, I don't really know

(02:13:01):
what to do at this point. I'm just kind of waiting to see
what happens. So I'll just kind of keep going
with everybody else. Still something.
So maybe we maybe we make our way out of the temple together.
Yeah. Yeah, so you guys walk back
through the temple. There didn't seem to be a secret
door that opened up that took you all the way back to the

(02:13:21):
front like a like a Skyrim dungeon or anything
unfortunately. We take the long way, but at
least there's no puzzles on the way back.
Yeah, you. Have to puzzle every feet.
You're just hollering. Do it again backwards.
As you walk to the temple and you step outside, you see
Thirter. The giant is standing outside

(02:13:44):
and he's holding someone in his hand by the leg who is just
dangling there and it is 1/2 elfwith a clean blue uniform on and
he as you step outside he says hello.
Hello. I'm told you might know me namby
I I am big pantameter. Oh, hi.

(02:14:09):
Yeah, I know of you. You know him and his.
Yeah, oh, oh, put him down. He's OK.
He's he's yeah. He's not going to hurt us or
anything. Sets him down and Victoria kind
of stands up and kind of brusheshimself off.
Oh, OK, thank you. Just a second here.

(02:14:32):
The let the blood kind of drain down.
Yeah, your face is a little pale.
Anyway, so you're probably confused, but not to worry, this
will all make perfect sense. The Oblx presented a memory to
Mtero. Mtero changed the memory, which
changed reality, because the Oblx is in control of the Shard

(02:14:54):
of reality in this new past. Mtero gave you a book that
inspired you, gave you the courage to go on this trip with
your university, changing your future.
The Oblx wants you dead and my guess is that it was in there.
That you talking about the red goose?
Oh yes, the red ooze is a monster called an Oblex.

(02:15:16):
It feeds on memories. Oh, you know, that explains a
lot. Yeah, it was in.
It was there. It went through one of those
things, one of those portals. Did you kill it?
No. Oh, did it escape?

(02:15:36):
Then yeah, I got out. I don't think I took.
I don't think it got hurt at allactually.
Oh, that's OK. It would have made things easier
if it would have died, but no. But that's OK.
So anyways, so Amtero is currently doing the same thing
that you're doing. Were you following about the
whole year in your past but you were really in from your future?

(02:16:01):
Yeah. So he's in my past or his past?
Well, right now he's in his past, but he's not in his past.
You see, it's, it's kind of happening at the same time.
He's he's doing his thing, but afew years from now.
So like relatively it's the sametime because he changed his

(02:16:21):
memory. You went back to this time and
he went back to a different timein his past.
So relatively you're doing the same thing at the same time, but
that's in a few years what he's doing.
But also right now. Well, right.
No. Right, right now.
Right now, not. The not the literal right now.

(02:16:44):
Right right now Mtero is travelling around the world
selling his stories. I was hoping that maybe you had
his tour dates on you. I know you bought one of his
books in your past. Would I have?
Would I have that? No, you would not.
OK, OK. Yeah.
I mean, I bought one of his books, but that I don't.

(02:17:06):
No, I don't have. I have that.
That's like. I was hoping to maybe catch one
of his. What would that?
Is before I had to leave. Oh, that's not like a helpful
thing. That's just kind of AI want to
do something kind of thing. Oh, right, it is that.
OK. That he's a really good
storyteller, so I get it. He's he's really good.

(02:17:28):
But anyways, it's still relatively the same time for him
as it is for you, since he went directly to his story moment
where he can get unrooted from his story.
Unrooted D rooted, uprooted. Yeah, I don't know.
Anyways, I have something for you.
Oh will it get me to my non relative actual time?

(02:17:52):
He hands out a piece of parchment paper and he hands it
to you. Has words from crowning AI
achievement on it. Your friend Hugh is in trouble,
and he needs your help. This is going to take you to
some nice people who are going to take you to him.
And if all goes well with Mtero in a few years, he should be

(02:18:13):
there too. At least that's what Thwick
tells me. He.
Might not be there. Well, if it doesn't go well for
him, right? Because it hasn't happened yet,
because it's in a few years fromnow.
His story that he's in is about the time when you would have
joined the book club. So that happens in a few years
from right now, but. How can he do that and join the

(02:18:35):
book club at the same time? Right.
He can't. So he got switched to a new
reality. It all makes sense.
Trust me. Well, trust me, OK.
He's the one that's got the vision board.
It's got all these lines on it. He says it makes sense.
I can't really make sense of it,but anyways, if it goes well
with Emtero, you should meet up with him like immediately right

(02:18:59):
now if you use this this side. With just emtero page?
What about Hugh? You said he was in trouble.
Oh, right, no, you have you. You'll get to Hugh eventually,
but you can't get there right away, Thwick said.
There's some nice people that will take them to Hugh is what
what Thwick told me. OK.

(02:19:21):
We're working with William, you know William.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yep.
OK. Wow.
OK. This is a lot, Yeah.
It is a lot. Yeah, it is a lot.
And I'm not really that great with the details right now, but
that's because the details are confusing.

(02:19:42):
Yeah, I think I get most of it. This is going to take me to
Amtero and eventually Hugh. Yes.
OK, I look over to a river. I'm like, so this is really

(02:20:04):
confusing and I don't know what's going to happen.
I don't know. I don't know what's going to
happen. I don't know how any of this
works. I don't know if you're real and
if this continues once I'm gone, but just.
Your brother loves you so much and I I just take care of

(02:20:25):
yourself, OK? And then I'm going to turn to
Namby and just give her like a big, huge hug, which is really
easy to do because she's so tiny.
And I'll say to her, this is real.
And, and just give her a big warm hug and, you know, thank
her again for her saving everybody.

(02:20:45):
And, you know, say, you know, I don't know where you're going.
But if my brother's in trouble, I'm glad that he has somebody as
brave and resourceful and kind as you to help him.
I wish I could help you too, butI'm I sounds confusing.
I don't think, I don't think I can come with you.
I don't think so. Yeah, I look at the paper.

(02:21:12):
Great, you feel like you can activate it like just by.
Thinking about it, yeah, I just give one more kind of look to
River and then do the thing. OK, you activated a portal opens
in front of you, much like the red portals that you've seen
before, but this one is is golden with spectral pages that

(02:21:36):
that circle around in this kind of golden light portal in the
air that you can see and only you can see.
I I just think about, think about Intero, think about Hugh
and I step through. You step through into the into

(02:21:56):
the portal and are surrounded byimages and words, things you
remember from different stories that soon start to come
together. And you start to hear the sounds
of crowning AI achievement. And that is where we're going to
end this episode of Expedition Untold.

(02:22:19):
Thank you all for playing both of you.
Thank you for joining Tiddly forthis.
