Unknown (00:00):
Hey. Hey. Hey. This is a minisode
to the girlies who may be put a bit too much pressure on the dating process.
Meaning,
the women who are
not only looking for their person
or the love of their life or the person who they want to commit to for the rest of their lives, but they're doing it with,
(00:26):
like, every date
that they could potentially have or every guy they find on the dating app or every guy who they have interaction with in a romantic way. I'm here to suggest
that some people are here for a good time, not a long time.
What do I mean? I mean dating
(00:47):
and enjoying the process
in the meantime as you are
working toward finding your person.
The reality is
that the vast majority of people will not work out. Statistically speaking, if you're searching for
one particular person,
then
(01:08):
everybody else
ain't gonna work.
So
why not
really think of
your dating experience as one in which you get to interact with
different people, new people,
and
enjoy it for those experiences,
(01:29):
recognizing that every date is not going to be
the date, every guy is not going to be the guy.
But can you have positive experiences
regardless? Can you enjoy meeting a new person, having interesting conversation,
having good food,
finding a new restaurant, going out for a fun activity,
(01:49):
expanding your social circle,
learning new things,
talking to someone who has a career
or a job that is new to you or interesting to you or who has hobbies
of interest to you, maybe learning a new hobby or getting into a new activity.
If you approach dating in this way,
it will take a lot of the pressure off of it, which will reduce some of the stress of it and
(02:16):
significantly
increase your enjoyment of it.
So if you can recognize
that
most of the people you date are going to be here for a good time and not a long time, then you can let these things be what they are.
So the key is to, of course,
know what your ideal partner and ideal relationship looks like. Like, do that ideal partner list that I talk about
(02:42):
often where
you create a list of,
or you create
a list of characteristics and traits that your ideal partner would have. If you'd like a free tutorial, a free video tutorial on how to create that, you can simply email me, tracy@tphtherapy.com.
It's in the show notes.
And send me a screenshot of your rating or review of the podcast, and I will send that along to you. But it is definitely a list that
(03:09):
I do not recommend you date without. It's the first thing you should do really.
So you, of course, have your overall idea of your ideal partner, but in the meantime, you're having to sort and sift. You're having to meet people and vet people. And how do you vet people? You date them. You go out with them. You see how the two of you interact. You see how they interact with other people. You ask questions. You answer questions.
(03:34):
You see if there's chemistry, if there's attraction,
all of these different things.
And
in the meantime,
you do your best to enjoy the company of that person. And at the point in which you don't enjoy the company of that person, that's a good time to stop dating them. That's how this works. So this is just
(03:54):
a,
reminder for some and maybe new information for others
that if you are dating
effectively,
then you are dating multiple people casually
for a period of time and you're vetting people out and bringing new people in as you seek out your ideal partner, and that means a lot of people
(04:18):
are here for a good time and not a long time.
I highly recommend that you take this to heart
and live your best dating lives.
