Newly published research shows how a simple dental device called the "Aqualizer" can help reduce back and other pain for participants by balancing out pelvis asymmetry, which causes leg length discrepancy, and reducing any occlusal (bite) interferences when it is in use.

In this episode, Dr. Jenny Hobson reviews the "Aqualizer" study she conducted with Bill Esser, PT, which was published in the peer reviewed Journal of Craniomandibular & Sleep Practice.   Co-hosted with Dr. Martha Cortes, they discuss the design of study with Bill Esser and Ira Shapira, DDS and how it’s ground breaking results will lead to even more important research for the PT and Dental fields to collaborate on.

Bill Esser, PT is CranioFacial physical therapist in southern Oregon, one of less than 100 in the USA with the distinction Certified Cervical Temporomandibular Therapist (CCTT).  He has 40 years of experience and success in treatment TMJ disorders, complex cranio and cervical spine dysfunction.  He is an instructor for PTs and Dentists on the evaluation and treatment of TMJ and a speaker in many dental conferences including OBI Foundations of Bioesthetics National Conference and more.

Dr. Shapira has a vast experience in treating both Sleep Apnea and TMJ in the Chicago-land area. He was a founding member of DOSA, The Dental Organization for Sleep Apnea and in 2015 was a Chair on the American Alliance Temporomandibular Organization.  He is currently the editor of the prestigious The Journal of Craniomandibular & Sleep Practice.
