• Matt Sauer (AA), RHP, Yankees: Sauer strung together one of the minors' best pitching performances in years on Thursday night. Sauer struck out 17 batters in eight masterful innings against Double-A New Hampshire. He allowed only two hits and one run. Perhaps the most impressive stat is that he racked up all those strikeouts in just 95 pitches thanks to an exceptional 78% strike percentage. Sauer became the first full-season minor leaguer to strike out 17 batters in a game since Phil Pfeifer did so in July 2019 with the now defunct High-A Florida Fire Frogs. No other major or full-season minor league pitcher has struck out more than 14 in a game this year.
