Jason (00:00):
This episode is brought
to you by Trophy AI, the
ultimate performance coach toolfor simracers.
Where we discuss all things inthe SIP racing world.
(00:38):
I'm your host, Jason Rivera, and I'm joined here by Jeff
Smart.
How was your week, bud?
How's it going?
Jeff (00:44):
It was good, man.
Jason, I've been doing uh I'vebeen driving a lot.
I'll talk about it.
It has to do with my topichere.
So I was did some heavy, difficult research this week to
be prepared for my topic today.
So it was very difficult, verystrenuous.
Um had to block off seriousamounts of time to research for
(01:05):
my topic.
So I was good, man.
It was good.
I'm I'm joking around.
But uh I got to drive a bunch.
Um nothing really to announce.
Um so I do have one thing Iwould like to kind of uh put out
to the to the community here.
So last episode I talked aboutthe um Delara IR 15 and I spoke
(01:26):
about how it has a rollingstart.
I think all F4 races shouldhave a rolling start.
You get rid of the vastmajority of for first corner
wrecks because as the front ofthe field takes off, you stretch
out a little bit, right?
You know what I'm talkingabout?
And you because you you dorolling starts in your GT3
(01:46):
races, yeah?
So in the Porsche race, yes.
Yeah, so um that helps.
No, we don't.
Jason (01:52):
We do it in the uh we do
it in the GT4s, sorry.
But yeah, I hear you.
I hear you.
Jeff (01:57):
What's up?
It just alleviates because I'vebeen driving a lot of these uh,
you know, the um the IR 15s,and I was like, man, just this
is a great idea.
It just spreads out that fielda little bit for the first
corner and just don't have allthese pile-ups and yeah, it's
nice, it's breath of refreshair, or it's because it's you
know C-class drivers and theytend to have their shit together
(02:18):
a little bit more.
Jason (02:19):
So there's pros and cons,
but there's definitely more
pros to rolling starts, yes.
The only thing is that when youhave this guy that's weaving,
attempting to heat his tires up,and they accidentally hit you,
right?
That does happen.
And I've been taken out like ona formation lab.
(02:41):
It's dizzying when everybody infront of you is like they're
doing this, and I'm like, yo,chill, you're getting a little
too close.
Jeff (02:48):
Yeah, like is that really
work that much?
No, you know, and you're like, you can hear it being like
somebody goes like, hey idiot,we haven't even started the race
yet, you hit me, you know?
Jason (02:58):
Like it's it's just bad
no matter what, because on a dry
star that we do on the Porsche,uh the Porsche has no TCS.
And a lot of people like tolaunch the car, and sometimes it
doesn't go, it doesn't goright.
And you spin out, and the guyin behind you might have a good
(03:19):
launch, and then he just hitsyou in the back.
That's happened like all thetime.
It happens in real life.
Jeff (03:25):
So yeah, there was a big
wreck in uh a Porsche Cup uh
race.
I forget what it was, achicane.
Like they actually did you Idon't know if you saw it on you
know, it's all over Instagramwhere they like came through a
chicane, the car went sideways, and it's like clogged the track
up.
No cars could get through, theyjust kept piling in.
They had to stop the race andcancel the race.
Jason (03:43):
I think so.
Yeah, I think you sent me alink or something.
Yeah, it was also oh and thisone guy just comes barreling in
and like just every race, everyrace, those cars um they touch
doors all the time, and it'sfine.
It's just a normal, it's moreaggressive, you know.
Everyone you touch someone'sside, that's like death, bro.
(04:04):
Like you trying to kill me.
Jeff (04:06):
You trying to kill me.
It's good to see even theprofessionals that do this, you
know, for a living or you know, doing stupid shit like that.
Jason (04:13):
Yeah, it makes us feel
better about ourselves.
Jeff (04:15):
Oh, yeah, a lot better
about ourselves.
So how about you, how aboutyou, buddy?
How was your week?
Jason (04:22):
My week was great, man.
You know, I've had a littleI've had a little ups and downs
this week on just just trying toget back into routine, uh uh
working on reviews and workingon solo content.
And it, you know, it's thattime of year, I guess.
You know, it it's gettingdarker outside quicker, the
day's not lasting long.
(04:42):
I'm pretty sure in differentplaces it's significantly
different.
In Hawaii, you know, fiveo'clock is already kind of
sundown, right?
It's kind of getting dark overhere.
Um, but I can't wait for theholidays because the holidays is
the best time of the year, it'sthe happiest time of the year.
Um, Black Friday's coming, sowe're gonna have a big special
(05:05):
for you on Black Friday.
We're gonna go ham trying tofind even more things um for
that episode.
And yeah, um I I'm excited.
Jeff (05:15):
Yeah, you know what the
best part about the holiday
season is?
No work.
Well, that too, but I got someof that uh Puerto Rican drink
coming my way.
Hope again this year.
Jason (05:25):
Yes, you do.
Yes, you do all right.
I forget the name of it, but itis Coquito, yes.
Coquito, that's it, right?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I'm gonna make you some morethis year.
Do you have any family comingover uh this this year?
I don't think so.
Jeff (05:37):
We're because we're
getting ready to highho Nevada,
the island, right afterChristmas.
Jason (05:41):
Oh, yeah.
So yeah, so news flash guys,Jeff is um departing from
Hawaii.
I'm trying to stop him, but Ican't stop him.
Jeff (05:50):
So but as we like to say,
Jason's laying it on thick.
Jason (05:53):
I'm laying it on the
bridge.
Bro, can't go fishing, youknow.
You like to you love you lovethe beach.
You love the beach.
Yeah, even if even if it's justa walk on the sand real quick,
you'll just go over there.
Yeah, just today, you werelike, hey, I'm going to the
beach real quick.
I can't.
(06:13):
I was going to beach an hour.
Brought lunch out there, yeah.
That ain't happening back inBoston.
That's really tough, right?
On the on on other places, butyou know, life has his you have
your reasons, and I'm sureyou'll regret it, and I'll be
here.
Jeff (06:31):
Fair enough, touche.
Touche.
Jason (06:34):
We'll help you get
started, we'll help you get back
up and running no time.
But yeah, that was my week.
Um, pretty, pretty productiveum week for me as actually.
Racing, we have three, threeguys.
We have three 24 hours, uh, 24hour events that are happening.
(06:55):
We have one that's happening onNovember 7th.
Uh, we're gonna be racing onMonza for 24 hours, then
Daytona, late November, and thenon December 21st or something
like that.
And there's one more, one moretrack.
Just keep keep an eye on.
I'll probably do like a post orsomething if you guys want to
(07:17):
hang out and join us for the 24hours of hell.
Um, who knows, Jeff?
Maybe uh maybe we'll get youuh, you know, it'll be a lot
easier, man.
Jeff (07:27):
I mean, first things
first.
I mean, I I haven't been in aGT3 car.
Jason (07:31):
Just about to retire.
We got time now.
We got a little bit that littlebit of time to it.
Just before this, I was on withthe boys and we did like 30
laps around Monza.
And I was telling them, I waslike, dude, this is going to
kind of suck a little.
Like, it's gonna drain uspretty good.
Because at least Norse life,right?
(07:52):
It's a nine-minute, eight,eight-minute, you know,
sub-eight-minute lap.
You get to see forest, trees, differences.
Bro, Monza, it's like a minute,a minute and 40 or minute and
45 is kind of what the times arethat you go around again and
again and again.
So it's gonna be crazy.
(08:13):
Um, but those are my favorite.
Those are my favorite events.
The 24.
I will not miss them for theworld, and I'll do my best to
not miss them.
Jeff (08:22):
So I'll be dropping for
sure.
Yeah, it's fine.
Jason (08:26):
I mean, I usually drop in
a couple times on the 24 just
to, you know, I'd love for youto I'd love for you to drive it
one just one time because it'san experience.
Um even if you're not fastthere, uh, you know, it don't
matter.
Uh you have to experiencesomething that it's insane, bro.
It's insane.
But uh yeah, I got someannouncements this week.
Um, it's kind of a complainthere.
(08:49):
You know, last episode, Jeffasked me about the Porsche wheel
that I pre-ordered months ago,and I don't have a shipping
notification.
And at the time of thisrecording, it's an odd day for
us.
Um there's no shipment yet.
So podium one is the first timeI order from you guys.
(09:13):
I know you're saying that it'sa customs problem, but I'm not
impressed, you know.
I I I need some some doorbusting, phone calls being
happened, you know?
I would be upset if things arein customs and not waiting.
It could be it could be ourgovernment shutdown, you know.
I I'm trying to be a littlemore, how do you say that?
(09:36):
Yeah, trying to give, I'mtrying to get put logic on it,
right?
Well, maybe it's the governmentshutdown, maybe, maybe this,
maybe that.
But we just need a little morecommunication.
I think communication is keyfor those that spent the money.
So if you are one of thosepeople, because I recommended
podium one on the show when Ipre-ordered this wheel, just
(10:00):
hang tight.
Um hang tight and let's have alittle faith, let's suffer
together.
Um, because I really want totry the wheel, man.
I really want to use it.
I want to use it for a Porscherace, you know.
Now I have this 24-hour event, which will be in a Porsche, and
it would be nice to race thatthing and give it and give it
the feedback it needs, right?
(10:21):
A full 24 hours of use woulddefinitely tell me if it's a
good wheel or not.
But yeah, we are living in somecrazy times right now, huh?
Yeah, a lot of things are kindof acting weird, like our
government shutdown right now inthe United States.
Jeff (10:36):
TSA's, you know, flights
are getting delayed, and I have
yeah, there were people likethat waited six hours to get
through TSA in Atlantayesterday.
Jason (10:47):
Oh, I saw the same post.
Then I read in the comments, some dude was like, Yeah, I was
in and out for five minutes.
I don't know what you'retalking about.
Fake news.
So who knows, man?
It's hard to find the truth, too, right?
That is truth.
Nowadays, yeah, be careful whatyou read online.
Yeah, you really do.
They have all kinds of AIstuff.
Like I was looking at the stormand um the storm that just
(11:11):
recently hit Jamaica, and as ofthis recording is passing
through Cuba.
Any Jamaican listeners outthere or family, uh, prayers,
hope everything is okay.
Hunger down.
Yeah.
Those are natural disasters areout of our control.
They, when they when they saythere's coming, you have a few
days to prepare, and that's notenough time.
(11:33):
Like we had a freaking tsunamiscare here, and Jeff and I were
figuring out what to do with therigs.
That was put them in the attic.
Get them high.
What are we gonna do?
So um, you know, jokes aside, II from the bottom of my heart,
I really send out prayers toyou.
If any of your family membersout there, um I hate to see it,
(11:59):
you know.
I hate to see it.
The Air Force was crazy flyinginto this thing too.
Then yeah, then these AI videospopped up out of nowhere, like
these fake storms now, and youjust it's hard to I don't know.
Jeff (12:14):
Those Hurricane Hunter
pilots that fly through the take
their little C-130 through thehurricanes, those guys got
stones, boy.
Jason (12:22):
They got balls, bro.
Because if you look at the uh Ilooked at the video you sent me
and they were flying in, andit's not what you see in front
of you, it's what you see in thewindow right next to you,
right?
It's like holy sh like it'slike the water all over, yeah.
Jeff (12:39):
Like and all of a sudden
they're like there's calm
freaking wall clouds as they flyin through the water.
Jason (12:46):
It's actually beautiful
inside of it, you know.
Jeff (12:49):
It does have like a, you
know, and I I we don't want to,
you know, speak, you know, makeit sound unseth, you know,
unsensitive to those that areaffected by it, but did have
like a some type of like beautyor coolness to it, yeah.
So, but we you know, we saythat in with all the respect to
the people that you know areaffected by it.
Jason (13:06):
In Puerto Rico, um, we
got hit with George, um,
Stormcore George by back in theday, early 90s.
And we were crazy enough to gooutside when the wind stopped,
and it was we were in the eye ofthe storm.
And when you look up, it wasdark, it wasn't daylight, it was
like purple and freakingrainbows all over the place.
(13:28):
It was freaking crazy.
Um then we went back inside, ofcourse.
Um yeah, that was scary.
So, yeah, thoughts and prayersgo out to you all.
I just thought it was crazy tosee the the Air Force um showing
some massive balls going intothis thing.
A freaking category five storm, which is crazy, but um, yeah,
(13:53):
so prayers to you all, Godbless.
Uh, hope everything is wellwith the families, and uh yeah.
All right, I think we'll moveon to uh let's talk about some
sim racing, huh?
Yes, back to back to sim racingand my question of the day,
which is a it's a topic slashquestion, and I have some notes
(14:14):
here that I have ready.
Um is why do we why is GT3 sopopular?
Why is it every time that yousee a commercial of a sim or you
see uh promotion being done fora sim, it has to have a GT3 car
(14:39):
in it.
And I want to ask you that.
What are your thoughts before Iget into it, Jeff?
Jeff (14:44):
It's a super interesting
question you bring up because I
won't say that GT3 racing isnearly as popular as F1, NASCAR.
Jason (14:56):
You're a fan, you're a
fan of absolutely.
Jeff (15:00):
But globally, yeah, yeah,
like NAS, like the masses.
F1, NASCAR, indie, head andshoulders over GT3 Cup P cup
racing.
Um I think uh my answer wouldbe is it is the best car uh that
(15:20):
the average Joe could drive.
Okay, you know, like it is thecoolest car that you see on the
streets.
You know, like the McLaren's,the Porsches, the Lambos, you
know, like these cars where yousee every you don't say every
day, but you can see them on thestreet, right?
And the GT3 class, you get torace those badass cars that you
(15:42):
see.
And I think that's to myopinion, is probably why
attainable too, right?
Jason (15:47):
Yeah, you would say
they're attainable compared to a
multi-billion dollar industrylike F1.
Yeah, you know, where you can'tjust have multiple of the same
car, you have maybe one or two,and it's very custom.
And the next year it's verycustom, you know, it's very,
(16:08):
very different, two differentbeasts, right?
Jeff (16:11):
Yeah, GT3 is just a I
don't know what, because you're
right.
Every time you see something onInstagram or, you know, to GT3.
Yeah, podium one Facebook ad,or you know, in some type of ad,
or like you were saying, is itsome type of GT3?
Okay, and that's what got meinto it.
You know, I joined for Formula, but then it was like I got
(16:31):
stuck in ACC and the McLaren forwhat, eight months?
I don't even think of anythingelse.
Jason (16:37):
Um you should jump back
in there.
I I I I feel like you'll Ididn't it'll it'll it'll it'll
remind you of how awesome itwas.
Jeff (16:46):
You know, I uh meant to
hit content manager, uh, the
little logo, you know, AC, uh,and I hit ACC because they're
super close, the logos.
And I loaded up and I'll lookat it.
Jason (16:57):
Yeah, they're slightly.
Jeff (16:58):
I'm already in.
I might as well load up for oldtime's sake.
And I was like, oh dear lord, this clunk, this car is clunky
compared to a formula car.
It looks like it's heavy.
Um I don't know, Jason.
Like it's a that's a goodquestion.
I uh that's mine.
It's it's like it's the onesthat you it's the car that you
have on the wall as a kid, youknow, as like the porches, the
(17:20):
Ferraris, the you know, the theLambos, and then it's as you get
older, it's your ability torace them, even so be it as a
sim racing.
What do you think?
Why do you think?
You know, so I took a T T threeare so popular.
Jason (17:34):
I took a few notes here,
and I'm gonna go over those.
And the reason why they're sopopular is because it's consumer
racing, right?
It's cars that are built to bedrivable by pros and by some
rich people because the rich canjust go and buy a car and put
(17:58):
it in a garage and rent thetrack and go for it, you know,
and they all have GT3s, haveTCS, they have ABS, and they're
super forgiving.
They're easy for you to drive.
They're easy for you to drive.
Now, a lot of people, a lot ofpros in the sim world and in the
(18:18):
real world, they're easy todrive, but they're not, but
they're hard to be fast in, ifthat makes sense.
Okay, so they have some drivingaids that can save you from the
wall or you yourself, Jeff, cango right now with the skills
that you know, other than notwanting to crash a $450,000 or
(18:40):
whatever it cost.
If it was an open lot and theytold you, don't worry about it,
just go for it.
You will put it in gear and youwill move this car and you will
push it, and you will getcomfortable with it, and you'll
take it on the track, and Ibelieve that you will drive it.
A Formula One car, you'llprobably lose your damn arm or
(19:01):
head or something with all theG's yanking your body.
You know what I mean?
It's very two differentanimals.
So then there's the group,right?
That always says, Oh, cool, youknow, a fast car that's still
drivable by a big chunk ofplayers.
(19:22):
So you have a car that's aclass that's so popular, right?
A lot of people just get tiredof it.
They get they get kind of likebored with it.
It's kind of like it's like,oh, it's a GT3 again.
I'm kind of tired of that.
You know what I'm saying?
And that's how one of our, youknow, one of my one of our
(19:44):
teammates felt, one of ourteammates in the in our SRC
team.
Um, and he was like, Yeah, it'skind of, you know, it's a GT3,
you know.
He's used to driving P Cup.
But then he realized that wow, these other people are really
putting down time that I can'tachieve.
And he's a really fast guy,too.
(20:06):
So I believe that um I believethat the reason they're so
popular is because that's howyou start, right?
You buy iRacing or whateversim, and you get attracted by
the car that looks cool, soundscool, and then you can actually
drive the car, and you end updriving this car, and then you
(20:30):
end up learning this car.
And now you don't want to driveanything but this car or the
class.
You know, that's that's kind ofwhat what I've gathered here.
So, you know, and then it tiesinto the algorithm.
So YouTube is watching this,Instagram is watching this, and
(20:51):
that's why if you're intomotorsport and they know you are
because of the people youfollow or the your watch time,
right?
How long you stood looking atsomething is actually a thing.
They're gonna show youproduction cars, they're gonna
show you Porsches or Lambos orFerraris easily.
They're gonna show you.
(21:11):
Even now, if I have our phone, our phones right next to us.
Next time you go in there, youprobably see uh Porsche Cup on
track, you know.
So, I mean, and then there's somany other classes, which is
why I'm bringing this up.
You know, you have prototypes, you have LMD, you have LMP, you
(21:34):
have TCR, you have club racing, you have vintage, you have
ovals, like you said, you haveyou know, single mate GT4,
single make, excuse me, GT4,which is just a set step down,
they're still fast, you know.
Um I just want to put out tolight the context of this is if
(21:58):
you are a new sim racer and youare attracted to the GT3, then
yes, continue on that, but don'tforget about the other stuff,
you know, like Jeff, forexample, Jeff was all formula,
um uh that's that was his focus, his formula.
(22:20):
Then he came over one day and Iwas like, hey man, you should
try the GT3.
Don't the formula's cool andeverything, but the GT3 is kind
of like the most approachableclass, it has all the aids for
you.
It's really hard for to losethe car unless you're really
trying to push the car.
Um but then you found the lovefor you know P car, you know,
(22:43):
the the hypercars.
Now you have love for those.
So I guess it's a small topicabout you know why why GT4s are
so popular, and it's because youknow it's it's the mass market,
mass media is has its eyes onit.
You know, what do you yeah, yeah.
Jeff (23:06):
You know, I guess it's
it's if you think of like each
car each manufacturer with likeMercedes, Lamborghini, McLaren,
um, you know, those those typeof their top car is like the GT3
car that gets raced.
You know, so it goes, you know,it goes from the kid that has
the car on his poster in hisroom to you know watching videos
(23:28):
on YouTube as they get older, and then sim racing is a way to,
you know, for an average dudeto get as close as he can to
driving a uh quarter milliondollar car.
Yeah, you know, and it's it'sit's popular because it's of
that as you grow up, but thenit's popular because uh there's
so many people in there drivingit, it's good racing.
Jason (23:50):
So the the key take here
is that GT3 everything is set to
medium.
So it's medium down force, it'smedium tire slip, right?
So if you're only practicingGT3 cars, if you ever stepped
into a different type of carlike the ones that I mentioned
(24:10):
earlier, you're not gonna, youknow, you're kind of limiting
yourself to that one class.
And you know, what if it's latethat night or something, or you
feel like trying somethingdifferent, you know?
There are different classesteach you different things, and
I wrote a few notes here.
So TCR class, right?
That teaches you forward, excuse me, control forward
(24:32):
rotation.
So it teaches you how to cornerat entry, right?
MX5 is the low power, itteaches you momentum, you know,
better at not over slowing.
So it keeps you how to itteaches you how to keep the revs
up, keep keep the flow, keepthe how do you say this?
Um, keep the speeds up, youknow, momentum based.
Jeff (24:56):
100%.
Yeah, I think that's a big, Ithink uh, yeah, some of our
guests have said that too.
Jason (25:00):
Yeah, uh, I think um uh
uh the 10 KI rating.
Yeah.
Which I forgot his name on theshow.
God forbid.
Jeff (25:09):
Um, but yeah, to your
point of just carrying speed
through corners.
Jason (25:14):
Yeah, carrying speed
through corners, uh, Cam, excuse
me.
Cam Ebbon.
There we go.
The man cam, cam the man.
And then you have vintage thatteaches you how to steer with
the throttle.
You know, it's better when, youknow, better when GT3 traction
control is off or wet.
So all these types of differentclasses, right?
(25:37):
They all teach you differentum, how do you say this?
Rules, I guess.
They teach you disciplines.
That's what I want to say.
They teach you how to formulais a different beast.
Formula is all about weighttransferring and carry and speed
into a corner.
(25:57):
You don't really slam thebrakes before a turn.
You know what I mean?
Jeff (26:01):
Yeah, I think you know, to
your point about the MX5, I
think the you know, the Formula1600 and the Formula V are very
much the same.
You know, hey, get the carturned and carry speed through
corners.
Yeah, principles are principleswith those um cars that aren't
massively powered, but back toGT3s.
Jason (26:22):
Yeah, so just don't look
at it like I need to drive a GT3
to fit in, is what I want tosay here.
Um, even though I primarilydrive GT3 cars, and it's because
I love them.
But if you told me, hey, let'slet's race in a formula race,
I'm ready to go.
(26:42):
If we want to race in a P car,we'll do it.
You know, NASCAR, I'm startingto pick up.
You know, even though I I don'tnot a fan of NASCAR, I'm not a
fan of watching it, but drivingit is very different.
I've noticed.
I've noticed that it's a lotmore intense than I thought it
would be.
You know, I just thought it wasleft-hand turn that I thought
(27:03):
that I was just gonna berelaxing in the rig.
Jeff (27:07):
Hang on for dear life or
just hammer down.
Yeah, it's just hanging on forlife.
Jason (27:11):
It's cool, you don't have
to shift much, you know, but I
thought you are fighting foryour life on every bank.
Jeff (27:19):
Every bank gripping the
ever-living shit on my wheel
when I race over NASCAR orsomething like that.
I mean, it's just I'm like, oh,I go down the straightaways and
I'm like trying to wriggle myfingers with one flow stick.
Yeah.
Meanwhile, you're going downthe straightaway, you're like,
like, I switched lanes, I didn'teven move the steering wheel.
You know, you're like, yeah.
Jason (27:38):
So I mean, GT3 is a big
part of um uh it's a big part of
motorsports in general.
And I really wish that they didlike a drive to survive or
something with them because it'sreally hard to follow the IMSA
series, as you found out, Jeff.
Now that you're getting intoit, it's kind of like shit,
what's the schedule?
Where the races and it's likeall over the place.
(28:01):
I kind of wish it was a littlemore structured.
I wish there was an IMSA appthat I can pay for, which
somebody could probably correctme right now and say, Yeah,
there is, bro.
And please do shout it out inthe comments if there's a
service where I can just watcheverything, but I haven't found
that, you know.
Jeff (28:19):
Yeah, I mean, I just
stumbled upon that, you know,
the YouTube.
I know YouTube built up.
Yeah, the YouTube had it, butit was and it wasn't if it
wasn't for that last event,right?
I wouldn't have um, but to yourpoint, yeah, I know the F1 app
when there is when they sharethe track with the P Cup, they
do show those practices and andraces for what it's worth.
(28:40):
Um, but again, to your point, they're few and far between when
they when they have those likeSingapore, I I a handful of
them, I know.
Jason (28:46):
Um yeah, and and and I
think that Porsche Cup is
technically separate, it'sseparate from the Imsa series.
Jeff (28:53):
It would oh that I mean,
at least I know the oh that's
fair, yeah.
I know the single the Singaporeone is like the East Asia
something or other, right?
I mean, I'm way out of my lanehere.
Jason (29:03):
So I think Imsa's got the
it's cool because it's got the
the multi-class, so you can seeGT3s, and you're like, you know
what?
What are the um it would benice to pick up like a remote
controller and start flickingthrough, right?
Different, you know, like Iwant to see this fight, you
know, or or that fight, or whatare these, you know, it's fun,
(29:26):
it's fun, and I think you know,Jeff and I all the time we
always talk about doing a racein the house and or or watching
quality or practice.
I wish I could do that, youknow.
I wish I can just have a littlemore control.
Jeff (29:39):
So yeah, but it should be
super nice to your point, is to
you know, like yeah, you know, get together and just have a
race or quality on and just youknow hang out and BS, have a
cocktail, whatever, and justshoot the shit with the rate,
with the you know, with with thecars, and just with the yeah,
be sweet.
Jason (29:55):
We love cars, that's the
most in common thing we have is
cars.
You know, it's motorsport carsand tracks and you know wrecks
in some cases.
The last F1 race wasinteresting.
Very interesting calls.
Jeff (30:10):
We had more lawnmowers out
there than cars.
Jason (30:14):
Yeah, we had some
lawnmowers and some some some
pretty interesting calls by theFIA, which I don't want to get
into it.
I'm I I am finished with my GT3topic today.
Jeff (30:26):
Yeah, yeah.
You know whose favorite car theFIA is their favorite car?
Do you know what it is?
Is that it's the virtual safetycar.
It's the virtual safety car.
That's their savior saviorfavorite car.
So the VS.
If you saw the race, you'llknow what we're talking about.
A little salty because theycheated us out of some fantastic
racing down the stretch.
Jason (30:46):
A lot of teams, too.
Jeff (30:47):
Yeah, yeah.
Oh, it was like three battleson the track that would have
been world class, but cheatedout of it.
Jason (30:53):
Yeah, so that, you know,
or sometimes we go into a
Formula One break and we kind oflike, what can we watch?
You know, and I I wish thatImsa had like again, I'll wait
for you to comment in thecomments or send us an email.
But check the Chicane podcastat Gmail.com.
Jeff (31:10):
100% to your point is why
is Imsa racing during F1?
They should be offset.
You know, like the WNBA doesn'tplay necessarily overlap with
as much as they're offset asmuch as they can from like the
W, you know, the the NFL.
You know, they should try tooffset from Formula One as much
as possible.
Jason (31:28):
Yeah, to get the
audience.
Jeff (31:29):
Yeah, 100%, right?
You know, because me and youare always complaining that, you
know, I guess we don't knowwhen IMSA starts again.
Maybe it does start when theseason ends.
Who knows?
Somebody in the comments willdefinitely let us know when the
season's gonna be.
Jason (31:39):
Somebody's gonna school
us on IMSA.
And I would love to hear can'twait.
Be as detailed as you can, andI will I will go and follow
through and follow up.
And because I need that.
I want to watch, I want towatch more, you know.
WRC is another thing that I payfor, but sometimes that's hard
(31:59):
to watch, bro, because theannouncers are just not good,
you know.
You know, but that's anopinion.
Opinion.
Yeah, I just don't know enoughabout it.
Over to you, bro.
Jeff (32:09):
Fair for my topic, yeah.
Jason (32:11):
So once I have a live
coach available on demand, with
Trophy AI, you'll be able topractice with Mansell AI at your
convenience, a real-time coachin your headphones to navigate
and guide you through the track, helping you achieve race space.
This tool is awesome as itprovides full brake, throttle,
and steering telemetry on screenwith a live review getting you
(32:32):
ready for your next big race.
Check links to Trophy AI in thedescription and also use
Shicane12 in all caps for a 12%discount.
Jeff (32:42):
So, yeah, we'll take a
transition here from GT3s and uh
go to, you know, my my topictoday is it's very difficult to,
as popular as F1 is, is to raceF1 in a car for this the you
know in sim racing that is agood accurate representation of
formula racing.
So let's just put the F1 24,25, whatever they're gonna
(33:07):
release in the future from EASports over here.
And we're not gonna call those,we'll call those, you know,
what's the what do you callthem?
Simcades, right?
You know, they're they'rethey're not a sim, they're not a
video game, they're somewherein between.
So we'll just put it overthere.
It's super difficult to find aplace to erase, you know, what
we watch on TV, the F1.
So um a set of Corsamods.comreleased their um a set of
(33:35):
coursaf.
I think you've got that orghere.
We'll leave a link.
Don't worry about that.
Oh, it is it's a set of corsamods.org.
So they released their F125 mod2.5 um update here late
September.
Jason (33:51):
I've never tried it, you
know.
I need to try this.
Jeff (33:53):
So I paid for it, and
we'll kind of get into some of
the topics here.
I did, I mean, dude, becauseit's like well, the way I looked
at it, I was like, so here itis.
It's like 16 bucks.
It's like out of, I forget whatit is in pounds, but um, here
we'll just uh we'll share hereso everybody can see where I'm
pulling.
Jason (34:08):
Oh, this is dope.
I love this.
Yes, this data from, right?
Yes, yes.
I want to see.
Jeff (34:13):
Um, you got that there,
Jason?
Yes, sir.
All right, so six.
Oh, it's on sale.
It's on six, guys.
Yeah, jump in there now.
It's like what's that a thirdoff-ish?
So uh I downloaded it and itcomes with a so I had most of
the tracks that are on the F1circuit, but it definitely gave
(34:34):
it gives you you know the newtracks for the F1 circuit for
2025, um, with some facelifts.
For well, I got faceliftsbecause I had older tracks, you
know, some they've some betterpolished uh curbs, updated
billboards, etc.
Um, so which was supersurprising is here, I'll kind of
scroll down here.
Um it and the first thing thatcaught me by surprise is it
(34:59):
gives you each car, but youknow, of the 10 teams that are
in F1.
But what I instantly noticedwas they're not just the same
car with different skins onthem.
Like you actually getdifferent, like I know the Red
Bull has their it's like a pedotube or an antenna on the front
(35:21):
of their car.
And some of like the Mercedesdoesn't have that, they have it
a little different.
Those differences are there,you know.
Like the side pods on the carsare different in the game as
they are in the real life.
So you're getting like 10distinct different cars along
that line is uh each team hasdifferent performances uh that
(35:41):
they would replicate in the realworld, i.e., the Red Bull is a
lot faster and performs betterthan we'll say the Williams,
right?
Um, so so that is super cool.
Um, and and I'll pile on tothere to say that um interesting
that you get when you get intothe car, um the Mercedes wheel
(36:02):
is the Mercedes wheel that theyuse, you know, similar to this
one that Simlab has, right?
That's the Mercedes replicawheel.
That's what's in there.
Not only is it it that wheel, but it's the dash that George,
you know, Russell has and KimmyAntonelli has, you know.
So and to even add even more,if you pick Kimmy Antonelli's
car, you get his gloves in frontof them.
(36:23):
He wears white gloves and hehas like a colored, different
colored helmet that George hashis blue gloves and the blue
helmet.
So that's kind of cool, right?
So you're getting legitimatelyright two different cars.
So you're getting what 20different cars and what's like
25 different tracks for 16bucks.
You know, when you look at thatand you compare it to you know,
(36:45):
iRacing, it's floating aroundthe water, a great value, right?
That's one track.
So and I'll scroll up so youcan guys kind of see some of the
pictures here.
Um big thing that I noticedinstantly jumping in is this is
the best sounding F1 game or outthere.
The sound is fantastic.
(37:06):
Beats any other game out there.
Just how did you find this,Jeff?
Um, dude, honestly, a set ofcourse of mods like somehow got
my email and spams the shit outof my email.
And I was looking for a Iforgot irrelevant email, but it
said, hey, check your check yourspam folder.
And I went to my spam folderand I had like 75 things from um
(37:28):
a set of course of mods, butthey were all they've been
trying to get to you, right?
So well, mission accomplished,you know.
So hey guys, but yeah, so thesounds are awesome.
Um so it comes with a way thatyou can set up a championship
mode if you want it every week.
This is really what I do.
I, you know, part of what Ienjoy about sim racing is as I'm
(37:48):
watching the F1 calendar, um, Ican if you know, like uh um
Brazil's next race, right?
Like I can jump in the Braziltrack in the Mercedes and drive
it.
And then I can go watchpractice and see how George and
Kimmy and you know all the otherknuckleheads that are driving
F1 doing it.
You know, it's just this, it'slike, oh, I have a hard time
with that corner.
And it's just a cool way to,you know, kind of be involved
(38:12):
with the F1 calendar, if youknow what I mean.
So I drive a set of Corsa umwith the F1 mods from RSS, um,
and now, you know, um a set ofCorsa mods and what they're you
know, Dream Sim is what this haskind of binned under.
Um, but here we'll just gothrough some of this stuff that
they do.
They also provide a um a fileor some type of program that
(38:33):
lets you handle league leagueracing with it, which is super
cool.
I'd love to get into that.
I think it would be fantasticto have a league race that
follows the F1 calendar.
Jason (38:43):
Right.
Jeff (38:43):
Right?
That would be super cool.
Um, rain mode, I have not had achance to jump in there yet um
with a rain mode.
I just uh I've did a bunch oftesting and stuff, I just hadn't
got there with rain.
Uh pick crew.
So, you know, if you play F1,there is, you know, you start in
the pits and they're all aroundyou, you have the monitor in
front of you.
They tried to do that.
It's very awkward.
(39:04):
Like you get dumped into thegame, uh to the sim, you're on
the track, and like you're onthe side of the track.
Like if you're getting ready todo a hot lap, and there's like
five people around you withclipboards and stuff, you start
driving like 10 feet, andthey're like with you.
And then all of a suddenthey're like, Bing, they're
gone, and you're driving.
So A for effort, they'retrying.
C plus for for result.
Um, I talked about theindividual MFDs, each car.
(39:26):
So, like the I did a couplelaps with the Ferrari and the
Red Bull, and their you know, dashes on their wheels are what
they are in the real F1 game, they're not the same dash that
just carries along each car, which is kind of cool, right?
Um, removable halos, everybody's got that nowadays.
Um, aero sensors.
Um, I talked to so this iscool, you know.
Like Jason, you and I are bigF1 fans, and when preseason
(39:49):
testing comes around, it's likethe first time you've had F1 uh
in like three months.
So you're willing to watchanything go around a track that
looks like an F1 car, you know, and a lot of times they have
those those big arrow rakes onfront of them.
Yeah, the the you can do thiswith this update.
Like they put the aero sensorsand you can drive around with
them.
I don't know why you can.
So that's cool.
(40:12):
That's cool.
Um, so uh they have sparks thatcome off the car.
Um, I think the RSS uh mod doesthat as well, which is cool.
I did a I did a race uh lastnight or the night before at
Spa.
You're going up that uphillchicane uh Ever Rouge, and
there's sparks flying everywhereas you're smoking, you know,
(40:33):
following the car in front ofyou, which is super cool.
Um another thing that I thoughtthat they do very well is I had
tested it, but I you slam onthe brakes and lock the front
brakes up and you get the smoke, but then you see the flat spot
go around the wheel.
Oh, snap, cool.
You know, if you're at lowspeed, you can actually see that
flat spot go around.
So that's kind of cool.
Um, you have to enable it in umthe tire FX.
(40:56):
This is you listen, if you'redoing a set of course and you
don't have um uh um CSP uhcontent messenger, custom
standers patch.
Custom standards patch.
Maybe we should do a a topic onthat maybe later.
But if you don't know what thatis, Google it.
You need to have it, it'sincredible.
It makes the visuals waybetter.
Jason (41:16):
But uh yeah, I was about
to ask that question that you
for any of this, you would needuh start off with, yeah.
Jeff (41:22):
Yeah, you need to start
off with that, which it's free,
easy install, um, at which I'llspeak to here in a second.
Another cool thing is onreplays, when you are you can
you know watch your car from thefront wing as you go to the
high speed, you can see the wingflex.
Um, again, like if you're intothat type of stuff, cool.
It's there if you want it.
You know, it's like you knowwhat I'm saying?
(41:43):
Like when you're watching F1and they sell the front wing,
you it's like that.
You can see the wing flex fromthe all the drag being placed on
it.
Um I talked to the differentperformances from each team.
Um, and then this one is justthe sound.
The sound is just awesome.
Jason (41:59):
Awesome.
Um, I need to try this, man.
Jeff (42:02):
Yeah, and then the skins
is just the whole the graphics
of inside the car is really whatum is Jason.
Like when you're like I did uhI drove us you know in the Red
Bull, and you can see Max Max'sor you know um Sonoda's gloves,
(42:22):
and there's like the little feltaround the glove as they're you
know inside outside.
Yeah, some detail.
Jason (42:27):
So there's very high
detail.
Jeff (42:29):
There's no seam on the
inside, like that level of
detail.
You can see the sparkle ontheir fingers and stuff.
It was just it's really welldone.
Um, to the point of I wasdriving the Mercedes earlier
today at the Red Bull ring, andI went around a corner and went
onto the curb, and you can seethe reflections on the halo from
the red and white as you'regoing over it.
(42:50):
Um, just and that's part ofthat is the custom shaders patch
and stuff like that.
I get it.
For 13 bucks, if you are for uha formula fan or just have an
inkling of formula, like thevalue to dollars spent here,
well worth it.
You know, um in VR, I did abunch of this testing in VR, it
(43:12):
was taxing.
Um we'll just say it was it,it's not nearly as optimized as
iRacing is, let's put it thatway.
I had to I had to turn downsome settings, um, you know,
turn uh it was acting a lot, yeah.
It was it's pretty demanding.
Um so but yeah, so this is justa cool way that you can like
(43:32):
this is I think this is probablythe best F1 racing sim racing
that that's out on the markets.
And it and unfortunately, it'sit sucks that this is what it
is, right?
There's no big manufacturerbehind this push eye racing or
you know, a set of course offormula.
Like we got a set a set ofcourse uh rally, like you can't
(43:56):
tell me that rallies I'm stillthis is still I'm still bitter
about this.
It is what it is, but um it'dbe awesome to find, you know, if
if we if I could find, especially if I'm when I move to
the if I can find a you know aleague that does this every week
at the track that the F1 isthat I think that'd be badass.
Jason (44:16):
That was uh that was my
that was gonna be one of my
questions to you.
Was um, it looks like they haveit set up for a league to run
it and use the package to runit.
There's gotta be a Discord outthere that's running these
races.
There's gotta be.
And if you guys know, let Jeffknow and let myself know because
I'm about to buy this thingbecause I didn't even know about
(44:38):
it.
I think I've heard likedifferent YouTubers or or
creators that they run seasonson on a settle using mods, but I
never looked looked into uh,you know, not like this, not
like in this detail.
And it's a small price to pay,honestly.
(45:00):
This is actually cheaper thanbecause a settle course uh we
mentioned it here, but BlackFriday's coming.
You can get the ultimateversion for like $4.99.
Jeff (45:12):
Yeah.
And to that, you know, if Icould pile in just a couple
more.
Jason (45:17):
Yeah, go ahead.
Jeff (45:18):
So AI racing is is the
best AI racing you're gonna get
with formula.
I mean, it's blows the blowsthe socks off of Formula or F1
23, 24, 25, right?
Blows it away.
Uh i Racing, if you want torace the Formula, the W13, it's
gonna be Mercedes cars the wholeway.
You're not gonna get like theexperience of like, oh shit,
(45:39):
Lando, you know, the Mercedes, the McLaren with Lando is next
to me because you get his helmetand you get a different McLaren
with um uh Oscar Piastri'shelmet, you know, like it's that
level of detail.
It's cool.
Get the sparks, you know,flying.
It's it's just the best you'regonna get.
Um, and two, Jason, one morepile on to this content manager.
Whoever designed contentmanager is a freaking genius
(46:00):
because you don't have to belike, it's not uh like, hey,
download it, put it into thisspecific folder in a set of
course that's you know, youknow, a set of coursa, content,
cars, tracks, you know, all thisother shit.
No, you just take the file youdownloaded, drag it onto the
content manager page, let go, itsees it, get installed, it is
(46:23):
done.
Idiot proof.
I mean, it's smart, Jeff's Jeffproof.
I mean, it's just nice.
Jason (46:27):
Um, uh I would uh if
you're gonna go content manager,
you need to get pure.
That's the other two.
Jeff (46:34):
Yep.
Jason (46:34):
So I'll leave links to
all of them.
Maybe we'll do an episode.
I think it's that, I think it'sabout that time because uh
settle CSP has been getting ashit ton of changes, and you can
download CSP, you can buy itfor ten dollars, I think, and
well it's yours forever, it'syours forever.
Jeff (46:55):
There's no subscription.
Yep, as they come, it's whatit's in, it's it's great.
It's I I actually support thedev though.
Jason (47:04):
You know, what's that the
the dev that developed it?
I I support him on Patreon.
The guy's got like 70,000patrons, bro.
If I was to multiply that byone dollar a month, it's pretty
simple now.
Jeff (47:20):
We don't think we need to
do it every time.
Jason (47:22):
I'm doing something
really wrong here.
Yo, just think about it, youknow, that guy, and I think he's
a creator out of Russia, uhRussia, excuse me.
So, you know, thank God for himbecause the game's alive
because of that guy.
If you were to play regularvanilla acetyl Corsa, forget.
(47:43):
No, what do you mean by that?
I don't think Jeff has evertried vanilla acetyl corsa.
I did, I clicked the wrong icononce.
You did what is this?
What is this?
I didn't even know what it was.
Jeff (47:52):
I was like, I didn't
install this game.
Jason (47:56):
He's so spoiled, bro.
You got it good though.
I'm glad.
I'm glad that it's here.
You know, and and you knowwhat?
You know, Acetal Corsa, wementioned it a few times on the
show.
It is the sim.
It is the sim, your foreversim.
That sim will never beuninstalled on my machine.
Jeff (48:16):
Never agreed.
Jason (48:18):
Never, it'll never, I
will always go back to it to I
do my drifting there.
I drive around Tokyo in there,um, on the highways.
You got rally racing there too.
Jeff (48:30):
How many cars do you think
are in Content Manager?
Jason (48:33):
I don't know, but I have
over a thousand cars.
Yeah, it's stupid.
I have like 600 gigs just onthe set.
Freaking that thing is takingup a lot of hard drive space,
and I don't want to get rid ofit because that's a lot of time.
You know, it's like you said,it's very easy to install, but
it takes time to build up andfind the servers and get the
(48:55):
files and get them in and findtweak your, you know, uh, the
shaders patch.
Yeah, it's part of the funbecause you kind of like, oh
shit, I found this this new carpack.
I'm gonna check it out, andit's free, you know.
Most I don't think I've everpaid for a mod there, other than
the RSS cars, which are highly, highly, highly worth it.
And they're like a couplebucks, two bucks, three dollars.
(49:19):
Yeah.
And now we have a pack likethis that usually when things
are excuse me, usually, usuallywhen things are paid like this,
they kind of uh make sense whythey would be, right?
So, you know, usually thedeveloper they go out, they go
out of their creators, they goout of their way to keep these
(49:41):
packages up to date, too, because you gotta look at it
that way.
But very interesting.
I'm I'm glad you brought thisup.
We'll leave links below.
And hey, give it give us ashout out if you guys are using
this.
And if you know, you know, ifyou know anybody that's hosting
these on Discord, would love tocheck them out and and and put
(50:01):
it up here and maybe do a raceor two, huh?
Absolutely, yeah, it'd beawesome.
Be fantastic.
All right, so I think that'sabout it for today, right?
Uh yeah, we're quick, man.
Good stuff today.
Yeah, good stuff.
Uh, we had a track of the week.
I don't think we're gonna havetime for it today.
(50:24):
Keep that one.
We'll we'll we'll push it tonext week's, but uh a little
slow on the news um this week.
You know, the expos happened.
Jeff (50:35):
I think everybody was
wrapped catching their breath
between now and like black.
Jason (50:40):
Preparing their wallets,
bro, because Christmas is
coming, and you gotta thinkabout the rest of the family
too.
Yes.
Jeff (50:49):
So I did see um uh cubic
got it sent an email out today
for all their distro, and it waslike, hey, understand we've
been gone for a while, we'reback.
Here's all some updates to readabout.
We'll get back to you when weget we catch our breath.
Jason (51:02):
It was like Yeah, they're
taking a break, yeah.
Jeff (51:04):
Yeah, I mean, because
they've been hopping, right?
You know, they've been all overthe place, especially, you
know, the expo just wrapping up,and everybody, all the better
in the industry is probably justcoming back and catching their
breath for a minute.
Jason (51:14):
So yeah, being away from
work is not easy, and then
holidays are coming in, peopleare taking vacation or holidays,
they call it in the UK, orthere's a lot of people taking
break, you know.
This is the time, you know.
I usually I'm probably headeddown that same route, which you
guys will never know about.
(51:34):
You'll get an episode everyMonday.
Um, but I'll still I'll stilllet you know, I'll give you
hints that if I'm gone orsomething, but yeah, um we'll
we'll keep you up to date withas much as we can.
We're still waiting on theSimicube 3 reviews to come out.
I decided to hold off, and it'sthere's only three creators out
(51:57):
there that have them.
And last I've heard, they don'thave access to the software, or
maybe they do at the time ofthis recording.
Um, at least the people that Itrust and care about, they do
not.
So interesting.
Jeff (52:14):
I I noticed Dan Suzuki
dropped the VNM video and out of
my I was gonna say it, and whatwas the title of his caught of
that video?
Jason (52:23):
I think it was uh his new
main or his main new favorite
or something.
Oh my favorite.
It's a VNM base, and yeah, I'veheard good things about VNM
shifters and also their bases, but it was news to me that that
that base supports uh telemetryforce feedback and it has
(52:47):
pass-through built in for anywheel without the need to buy a
$200 QR.
Their QRs are $35.
How much?
$35.
$35 USD.
What an idea.
So, well, okay, right?
Jeff (53:07):
You get what you pay for.
Jason (53:09):
We have to, we we have
to, you know, we have to see
what it is.
Right.
Telemetry feedback, or theycall it what are the he called
it something.
He called it like click ortick.
I think it's called tick.
They call it tick or somethinglike that.
Crucify me.
Go ahead, come after me if ifI'm wrong.
Jeff (53:28):
But we'll get it
straightened out eventually.
Jason (53:30):
We'll get it straightened
out, but it's very interesting.
I can't wait to hear histhoughts because I don't have
the hardware, Jeff and I.
We don't we don't we only haveone base, so can't pretend to
talk about numbers here.
But I'm interested.
I'm interested on what themarket's doing.
Um 32 newton meters of force, still less than the cost than a
(53:54):
simicude three.
Very interesting stuffhappening.
Um, but yeah, I think that'sit, Jeff.
Um, you have anything else?
Any uh save rounds or roundtables or anything like that?
Jeff (54:06):
Nah, dude.
Jason (54:07):
I am uh I'm probably
gonna get in here and spin some
laps with simracing makes youwhat's the five uh F1 update.
Okay.
Alrighty.
Well, thank you so much, Jeff.
I appreciate you always, Jason.
Jeff (54:22):
