(00:58):

Inside. Hello, my demon insiders, and
welcome back to the Demon Inside.
(01:19):
I'm your host, John Venom, and today we are going to be doing
the Demon Inside Garland Milan. Now, I know a lot of you have
never heard of Garland Milan, and I actually found it because
I was listening to Bill Chalmerson his podcast Where the Bodies
(01:40):
Are Buried. And as you know, Phil Chalmers
does invest, does interviews with these killers.
And I was very fascinated with Garland because Garland has a
unique thing that I've never seen before.
I know on this show, I usually look for people that kill that
(02:04):
are in pairs because we're looking for the demon that jumps
from one person to the next. Garland's a little unique
because what he does, I've neverread about it in any other case.
But at the same time, too, maybesome of these killers aren't
(02:26):
saying what they do. Garland's willing to talk about
it. But before I tell you what he
does, let's go through his life for a minute.
He's actually arrested for two of the murders and I know this
doesn't make him a serial killerwith two murders, but he
(02:49):
actually confessed to 1/3, whichthey still haven't taken the
trial. And the police detectives
actually think there was so manymore because he traveled a lot.
He was homeless, and he liked totravel.
And that's part of this whole case as well.
(03:11):
But we'll get into that in a minute.
But Garland Leland was born in 1965, and he grew up with his
mother, who was half Cherokee, and she was an alcoholic and she
was a drug user. So he got sent a lot of times
(03:35):
from relative to relative as he was growing up.
But Garland says by the age of nine, he was already thinking
about killing. This is when it started at age
9. So at the age 10, he actually
(03:56):
started killing animals. He'd been taken away from his
mother by the state of California and while he was
living with his aunt, this was right before he starts killing
the animals. This was still right before, but
while he was living with his aunt, he states in this
(04:19):
interview with Phil Chalmers, which I'm going to play for you.
If he was a gifted child, you guys are not going to believe
what he says. Listen to this.
My aunt abused me all in the name of God to try to beat the
(04:42):
demon enemy because I was a gifted child.
I I dreamt of flying one day or one night, and.
And I believed it so powerfully that that I was actually
levitating above my bed when my my my aunt came in and turned
the light on. Yeah, but I fell from the
ceiling to the to my bed. And then she started.
(05:03):
That was pretty much when most of the abuse started.
She would beat the hell out of me and and said, you know, said
that my mother was a was a the devil's bitch and and that that
I was the son of a of a whore and that I was demon seed.
So according to Garland, Garlandsays that he was floating to the
(05:29):
ceiling after he was dreaming that he could fly, and he
believed it wholeheartedly. Phil Chalmers, I really wish he
would have got more into this. There's actually an interview
online where they're showing Phil his expressions and
everything as he's talking to Garland.
(05:51):
Never even phases them. So I'm assuming he's heard it
before. And I actually sent an e-mail to
Phil Chalmers's group hoping that they will respond to me
because I want to know more about Milam's floating episode
as well as some of the other things.
(06:12):
But after he was caught by his aunt floating in the air, well,
she believed he was possessed bya demon, which she was a very
religious woman who would alwaysspat out the Bible to him.
And he, I mean, to him, that wasin effect like punishment for
(06:35):
him 'cause she would call him, you know, a demon seed and that
he was born from a whore. And I mean, it was just a lot of
hatred towards this kid at the time.
So of course, his rage and angerwas building inside of him.
And to get rid of this rage, like most serial killers, he
(06:57):
started killing small animals, you know, like small puppies and
kittens and things like that. And according to Milam, and I
quote the kittens, I would twisttheir necks until they broke.
The puppies I smothered until they were dead.
It was just something I desire to do and quote.
(07:19):
So this was a feeling that he had that would calm him down
with all that rage that he had building inside of him.
And this is a lot like serial killers that they have to kill
to please whatever is inside of them.
Like I said earlier, Garland wasthrown from family member to
(07:40):
family member and he said that he spent much of his life self
medicating. Now he said a lot of the self
medicating was because his urgesto kill.
From the age of nine, he used touse strict strict drugs
(08:01):
including crack cocaine and marijuana.
But his own mother before she died when he was 15, she had
introduced him to crystal meth and drinking.
He said that she would give him crystal meth because he was in
(08:24):
school and he was working a job,and he didn't stay awake, and he
needed to. And she introduced him to that.
So after striking out on the road as a teenager, he worked as
a busboy at a truck stop in Cisco, Texas, And he lived with
a man who raised goats. But he kept feeling himself
(08:48):
getting that urge and couldn't control it and he knew he
couldn't control it. So he started killing the baby
lambs that were there on property.
What he would do is he would take a plastic bag, put it over
their heads, tie it and watch them suffocate to that.
(09:09):
Of course this would satisfy hisurge and eventually he had to
move on because he started getting feelings of wanting to
kill the the rancher. Next he actually found a job
because his brother who was verygood at his business, this was
(09:34):
in Florida. He called Garland and told
Garland, hey come down to Florida, I got a job for you.
And Garland did. And while Garland was there, he
decided that he needed to leave because he was having this
strong urge again to kill his brother.
And he didn't want to do that. He started wandering and
(09:57):
traveling and hitchhiking. And he says that as long as he
constantly was moving, it seemedlike evaded the desire to kill.
Now, remember, sometimes some ofthese killers that we talk about
have put their life into God andothers have put their life into
(10:22):
a marriage. Garland decided that he was
going to start wandering around. He was a homeless man, like I
said, and it filled his energy to do that.
It filled him with purpose. So he wasn't thinking about
killing all the time. Garland was a very neat homeless
(10:47):
person. And what I mean by that is
Garland actually received a check from the government for
Social Security for just being disabled.
He had mental deficiencies, he had bipolar and he was, it's so
effective. And his wandering was also a a
(11:11):
symptom of those of those medical issues.
So Garland actually would set his camp up and he kept it
clean, kept it neat. He took a shower.
He had actually a tent that he had got bought from Walmart and
(11:35):
this system that he would actually take a shower there
with. And so he would burn his trash.
He would, I mean this guy kept his place clean for three weeks.
He was fine with the check that he received from the government,
but then on the 4th week, of course his money would run out
(11:57):
so he would have to go and Panhandle.
While he was panhandling, he meta woman who he started to
actually date and she actually lived with him there at the
homeless camp. Now, according to Garland, she
had said his her name was Cynthia Lawler, but according to
(12:21):
police reports, it actually was not her name.
She was actually using a fake name for the six months that
they were together and he was actually in love with her.
She lived with me for about 6 months in my tent.
We met, we fell in love when I sent I sent her with my bank
(12:43):
card to go get groceries. She was gone all day and and
into the evening and she came back at at dusk and her hair was
kind of dishuffle dishuffled. And when I I asked her, you
know, what took so long? She she snapped at me.
(13:06):
We had an argument and I got, I,I was already drunk and I just
like, you know, I, I had, I had to go, you know, for myself
questioning, you know, and, and find out what was going on.
So I, I, I had a gut feeling that, that, that she, she was
(13:27):
over at Tim's camp. And so I went to Tim Tim's camp
and he was he was passed out andI seen there was a thong that
that I had purchased my, my. A pair, A pair.
A pair of underwear. Yeah, zebra striped thong, and
(13:50):
she had never even wore it for me and it was sticking out from
underneath his match The air man.
We will be right back after a word from our sponsors.
Hey guys. Now it's time for the Uber shout
out of the week. And we actually have a few.
So the first one we have is Malita and Surya.
(14:14):
They I picked them up at the airport and they were flying in
I think from Arizona, if I'm notmistaken.
But Malita tells me that she's an attorney from Florida.
Again, you guys know if it's from Florida.
I'm going to talk to you about my show.
So we talked about it and I toldthem about the show and they
were really cool about it. And her being a professional
(14:37):
attorney, I'm glad that she was open minded to it.
So here's your shout out. Next are Sydney, Janelle and
Marlo Morrow is a little kid. He's awesome, so cute.
But I picked them up also at theairport and I think they were
also traveling like the very next day they were going to a
(14:59):
hotel, sleeping and then they were driving.
I was like holy crap. So good luck to you guys and
your travels. That's your shout out.
And then I have Elizabeth, who is the lady that that is the
janitorial services at one of the buildings that I do security
at. She actually didn't know who I
(15:23):
was when I showed up to do security.
She actually like took out her gun and didn't point out at me,
but I could hear that sucker click inside her car and I knew
exactly what it was. And but it was a pleasure to
meet her. She was awesome.
And then we got Cassandra from the dealership, which is also
(15:44):
where I worked at. Cassandra and Carson, actually,
they were walking through my lots and I had to stop them and
I felt so bad about it. But they weren't allowed to hear
after hours on property. And we started talking and I
ended up telling them about the show.
(16:05):
And she was laughing because I said, well, you know what, I can
send you guys a shout out. She said, yeah, that sounds
great. She was, but you're still
kicking us out. I said, yeah, unfortunately so,
yeah. But that's your shout out, guys.
And I appreciate everything thatyou guys have done for me as far
(16:25):
as listening to the show, all myfollowers, all Please remember
guys, I only get, I don't get paid off of this.
I really don't. Maybe some of these big podcast
guys do. I don't get paid.
I don't get endorsements. I don't have any commercials.
But if you guys want to help me out and send me, you know, a
(16:47):
little bit of wealth here and there.
I mean, I have my on my podcast. It'll tell you how you can
subscribe. If not that, at least hit five
stars and send me comments so I have more things to talk about
and thank you guys. I really do appreciate you guys
listening to me, man. It's it's been fun.
(17:10):
All right, let's get back to theshow and welcome back to the
Demon inside. And I went back to my camp and I
told her. I said, you know, I said I've
got my knife out. I whipped it out.
I get your shit and get out of my camp before I slice your
(17:32):
throat. So she left out and it was
starting to rain. And, you know, she cussed me and
everything. And then, then I kept drinking,
you know, trying to cool down a little bit, but I couldn't.
I, in the, in my mind, I, I kepthearing these words saying be
the vehicle of my vengeance. And, and then I, I proceeded to
(17:55):
go into Tim's camp and like hypnotically, you know, like I
wasn't even in control. And I, I kicked Tim, Tim in the
head. I woke him up and he goes, what
are you doing? I said, I said, wake up, it's
time to die. And I took my belt off and I and
(18:15):
he says you're, you're playing again.
I know I'm serious. And I made a new set of it, put
it around his throat, put my knee in his back, and pulled so
hard that blood came from his eyeballs.
So Garland suffocated this guy, and while he was suffocating
them, Garland, for whatever reason.
(18:39):
And this is where his moniker comes into play.
The soul sucker Garland believedthat the last breath that
somebody takes is their soul leaving their body.
So I'm going to play you what hesays about this.
(19:00):
Listen to this. When I released the belt off his
neck, he, he started to, to the air in his lungs was, was
starting to escape. And I, I, I had always believed
that, that the soul left the body on, on the, on the last
breath, you know, it exited on, on the air that, that you know.
(19:23):
And so I inhaled through my nose.
I held my nose up to his, up to his mouth, and inhaled his last
breath. So after this, Garland actually
burnt the camp down with the guyin it and he ended up calling
911 from home down the down the road.
(19:47):
And he was actually a witness tothe crime and said, oh, it must
have been an accident because heknew that he cooked in there.
And the police never really saidanything much about it after
that. So the next day, Garland was out
panhandling. So Garland's second victim was a
(20:10):
man who is panhandling out at a Kroger grocery store.
And Garland had been there before, and the manager and him
got along. They respected each other.
He respected the customers. He would actually go in there
and shop. But this guy was being
disrespectful to people. And the manager had received
(20:33):
complaints that the homeless people outside were harassing
them. So the manager came out and told
that gentleman in Garland that they were not allowed in the
store anymore, and if they came back, they were going to be
trespassed. So Garland asked for one little
favor of the manager. And he said, look, let me just
(20:54):
buy some groceries and you'll never see me again.
So that was the deal. He went in, bought some
groceries, took the guy to wait at a liquor store.
Then he went and bought a bottleof Jack Daniels after he bought
the groceries. And he took that gentleman to
his campsite where he made the guy dinner, which he says was
(21:19):
the guy's last dinner. This was going to be his last
dinner, so he thought he'd make it good.
And after they ate this guy, he was already intoxicated.
He could barely get to the camp.Garland actually had to help him
there, but after they got there,he ate and Garland took out the
(21:39):
bottle of Jack Daniels that he bought and he gave it to the
guy. He told him to crack it open and
pass it after he got done takinga sip.
So the guy actually opens the bottle and drinks the whole damn
bottle and then throws the glassbottle at Garland's head.
(22:00):
This Needless to say upset Garland to the point where he
decided he was going to kill this guy.
Garland then told him that he had killed the homeless guy from
the day before and that guy saidwhy are you telling me this and
he says because now I have to kill you.
So Garland gave him 5 minutes toget out of his camp and escape.
(22:22):
Garland says that the guy walkedout of the tent and couldn't run
anywhere, actually got stuck in some bushes, and that's when
Garland grabbed him and strangled them.
And what he ended up doing was putting the man's face in front
of his, covering his mouth with his, with his own mouth and
(22:45):
covering his nose and sucking inthe last bit of breath that the
man had. And so the interviewer, Phil
Chalmers, actually asked him if he felt anything when he did
that. Take a listen to this.
It, it, it knocked me off my assand I hit the ground and I, I, I
(23:10):
defecated on myself. I was just, I was tingling like
my skin was on like electrical tingles.
Definitely. I think his soul went through
me. So Garland actually said that he
sucked in the soul of the man and he had tingos.
(23:32):
He said it was better than any drug he had ever done and that
he would do it again and again during this court.
He said that if he wasn't released or if he was released
rather, he would keep killing and he would keep sucking the
souls out of people. Now the only reason that Garland
was arrested was because he turned himself in.
(23:56):
He says that night after the second killing that he actually
saw this fog coming into his camp.
And in the fog he saw the two dead men that he had killed, and
he felt like they would haunt him.
And not only that, but he had the strongest urge to turn
(24:18):
himself in. So he goes down the hill or
whatever to go and use the paperand that he used the day before
to call in the fire. And he tells the manager at the
Kroger store, he says, can you call the police and let them
know that I've killed two people?
(24:42):
He bought a pack of cigarettes and he walked out to the front
and he started smoking the cigarettes and he waited for the
police. I turned myself in because, like
I said, I saw their spirits in in the Fog and I had the
overwhelming impression that if I didn't turn myself in that
(25:03):
those spirits would haunt me forthe rest of my days.
When he was in Court One of the victims came up and or one of
the victims friends came up to give an impact statement and
Garland actually answered him and said don't worry, your
friends soul is safe with me. I mean, that's really got to
(25:26):
mess with you since this case was so unique.
I decided, and I haven't done this in a while because some of
these cases are very hard to find the demon, but I did find
one that is a Soul Eater. Maybe this is it.
(25:48):
So this is a MIT, and a MIT was the Egyptian idea of the
punishment of the soul. The name means Devourer or Soul
Eater. Ahmed was usually known as the
Devourer of the dead on the eater of hearts or the eater of
(26:10):
hearts. Ahmed was believed to eat any
souls found to have sinned. They would then be digested for
eternity in acid. So Amit was actually 1/2
Crocodile, lion and Hipple, and rather than being worshipped,
(26:33):
Amit was feared. She was not viewed as a God, but
she was viewed as a good force because she destroyed evil.
Although Amit is seen as a devouring entity, she is neutral
and strictly serves at the whim of the other deities to take
(26:54):
souls that have sinned against the gods and send them into
oblivion. Now this is very interesting
'cause you have to remember thatGarland killed these two guys,
one, because he was cheating with his wife, or at least his
(27:16):
girlfriend. And to him maybe that was a sin
because he didn't kill her, he killed the man that was sinning.
Then the second guy was a very belligerent person, and I'm sure
(27:38):
he was probably a better person when he wasn't drinking.
But by insulting by insulting Garland, maybe this was a sin to
him too. Now remember the voice inside
Garland said, be the vessel of my vengeance.
(28:00):
And this omit is a devourer of of souls against people that
have sinned. And demons like to mess with
people. And this is a very strange and
(28:21):
unusual first account of somebody inhaling somebody's
soul. I've never heard of this before.
Maybe with media and, and all the other different social
medias and things that we have, maybe we'll hear about somebody
else doing this. But as of right now Garland
(28:44):
Mealham is the 1st that I think is a demon possessed person or
has a demon inside of him that sucks people's souls.
