Police in New York say an aspiring actor who once appeared
on the show Ugly Betty is undergoing A psychological
evaluation following a brutal attack on his mother. 31 year
old Michael Bria is shown here on his Facebook page.
Authorities say officers were responding to a 911 call early
Tuesday morning when they found Bria with a large sword inside a

blood splattered bedroom. It's not someone that you can
look and said, well, it's a monster walk in the road or
someone who want to flip anytime.
It's not like that. His mother, 55 year old Yannick
Bria, was kneeling in the bathroom with substantial cuts
to her head. She was pronounced dead at the
scene. Family members and neighbors say

they're struggling to understandwhat went wrong.
Chuck is an understatement for something like this.
You know an understatement out of character.
It's even seemed like an out of body experience.
One neighbor told WABC that before the police arrived, he
heard the victim let out a horrific scream, and he says it

sounded like her son was chanting.
Like Jerusalem, Jesus, Aaron, then the last like line I caught
from him was the greatest architect of the universe.
Police say there was no previousdomestic violence incidents at
the home, and Michael Brea had no previous arrests.

about the demon inside Michael Brea now.

had the pleasure of meeting not too long ago, and LA.
Donna, who I talked to on the phone and we're actually.
Working on a case together and hopefully we'll have that case
out a little bit later in this season.
But let's go ahead and get back into the demon inside Michael.
Brea Now Michael Brea was a actor who came out on the show

Ugly Betty. He also came out on a movie
called Step Up 3D and he was a in a commercial for the Coke
products Full Throttle, which isan energy drink.
And Michael, at this time when this incident happened, was 31
(04:23):
years old, and he wasn't really making his mark in Hollywood
like, you know, people would want, but he was getting these
small roles. He also had a Subway franchise
that he had opened and he didn'tdo too well with that because
(04:48):
Michael is a very loving and giving person.
Michael remembers his mom alwaysgiving back to the community.
And this was a quote from Michael.
He said, and I quote, I remembergrowing up and my mother was
always feeding people who were less fortunate.

My parents raised me to always share and to give charity in the
name of God. End Quote.
Now, because of that, he had started giving away free Subs,
free Turkey Subs on Thanksgivingto the community, but his
(05:35):
business went downhill because of that and other things.
And the Subway parent corporation took back the
franchise only a year into him owning it because of poor
performance. There was creditors that had
also placed liens against the business when he owned it.

Now, this is kind of important to remember because Michael is a
loving, giving guy who was trying to do good and because he
fell behind in his bills and because he lost his Subway
restaurant. The police, of course, want you
(06:26):
to think that he was down and out, but that wasn't true.
He was actually staying in a apartment with his mom and his
brother, and they were doing OK.They were doing pretty good.
I mean, his mom worked, his brother worked, and he, even
though he didn't have the money that he was hoping to get, he
(06:52):
was still doing pretty good. And the only reason I say that
is because he actually joined anorganization.
Now, here's The funny thing. Whenever I hear people talking
about Freemasons or any of that,you know, conspiracy stuff, I
usually don't do that on this podcast.
But Michael actually joined a Freemason group.

So a week before this incident happened where he attacked his
mom and he ended up killing her,which was November the 23rd at
2010. And this was in New York, NY
Michael had actually joined the Masonic Lodge in Harlem, which
is the Prince Hall Masonic Temple.
(07:41):
Now, here's where it gets interesting.
This was a week or two weeks before the incident happened.
But Michael says that after it happened, after he joined, he
started to hear voices. And he kind of took it as a
sign. Now, remember, Michael's 31
(08:05):
years old. This could be schizophrenia, but
this could be schizophrenia. But it hits people usually when
they're younger or way older. This hit him at 31 and it's not
uncommon, but it's not very common either.
(08:27):
So Michael says that he was walking by the So I found an
interview that Michael did afterhe was arrested and we're going
to go through this step by step.And this interview he did, he
(08:48):
did it from the hospital Bellevue, where he was getting a
psychological evaluation done. Now Michael has never had any
type of mental illness, mental defects, He had never had
anything that was wrong with them.
(09:08):
So for people that knew him, especially his family, they
couldn't understand why he did this.
But I'm going to start reading you some of our most of the
interview. I don't have it all.
He did a hour long interview forone of the newspapers or one of
(09:29):
the news media sources and I gota lot of it, but not all of it.
So he says that the day he joined the Prince Haul Masonic
Temple in Harlem that he startedhearing these voices.
And he says that one night he was sleeping in his bedroom and
(09:55):
God came above his bed and reached his arm out.
He said, and I quote, I said, God is my time on earth over.
I heard a voice say, yes, Michael, today is your last day.
(10:16):
I asked if I could say goodbye to my family in quote.
Now, I didn't get the rest of that part, but he starts talking
about the following afternoon when he goes to the Masonic
Temple. He says that there was a man
(10:37):
that approached him and this manwas trying to give him
something. He had it in his hand and this
man kept trying to give Michael what this man had in his hand.
Now Michael kept putting his hand there, but every time he
was going to place it, Michael would move his hand because he
didn't know what it was. Eventually he saw that it was a

Freemason pin, but he wouldn't touch it because he felt like it
was cursed. After he left this guy, he says
he began feeling ill. And while riding the train back
to Brooklyn, he said that strangers began speaking to him
(11:25):
about his mother. He says.
And I quote, I felt like kneel from the Matrix.
I began hearing voices and feeling powerful.
They were asking about the difference between mom and
mother. It was a sign in quote.
(11:46):
So at this point, Michael believed that he knew he had to
kill his mother. So he arrives home and he says
that he saw his mom, gave her lots of love, and then he went
to his room. Now in his room he lit, he lit
(12:10):
candles. He placed a dagger and a three
foot ceremonial Freemason sword by his side.
Now this sword was actually fromthe Masonic Lodge, but Michael
insisted that his father had given it to him.
He said it was a powerful sword.Now he also arranged 3 St. cards
(12:38):
around him. Now the Saint cards are a
Catholic thing. The if you've ever been to a
religious or a Catholic funeral,they have these cards with
Saints on them and on the back of them they have prayers.
(12:58):
So he says that are actually thepolice said that there was a
Saint Jude card holding a sword,but there is no Saint Jude card
with a sword. I, I looked into it.
Saint Jude is my patron St. which is a Saint of hopeless
(13:19):
cases. And So what I did look up was
which St. was holding his sword and it was the Archangel
Michael. So those were two of the three
religious cards that he had thathe placed around him while he
was kneeling down with the swordand with the knife.
(13:39):
So his mother knocked on the door and asked him to go to the
kitchen and pour out the water in the pot that she was cooking
3 chickens. He says that he walked into the
kitchen. He looked at the chickens lying
dead in the pot, and a voice told him it was a sacrifice.
It was black magic. So Michael left the chickens
(14:01):
alone and went back to his room.His mom came to the door and
asked him why he hadn't, you know, removed the water from the
chickens. And Michael says that his
mother's voice was no longer hervoice.
It was different. It sounded like a demon.
(14:21):
He said. He opened the door with a dagger
and the sword. And he said, and I quote, I
asked, do you believe in God? She said no, Michael, no.
And began screaming. I began slashing her like this,
he said, bringing his right handdown in a violent hacking
(14:45):
motion. End Quote.
So then at this point, he started chasing his mom from
room to room and swinging the sword at her.
And it was very bloody and messyin the apartment to the point
where neighbors saw blood on thewindows.
(15:07):
And he says that he didn't want to kill her.
And I quote, I didn't want to kill her right away.
I wanted to give her time to getright with God in quote.
Now the neighbors said that theyheard Michael yelling at him at
yelling at his mom, saying to repent, repent, repent.
(15:32):
So by this point the police had been called because of the
neighbors. And now here's an interesting
thing. When the police were called, it
was 119 in the morning, and theyshowed up about 12 minutes
later, which is, I guess, a goodresponse time.
(15:54):
I mean, of course you want it sooner, But, you know, it
depends on where they're at it. They're not just outside your
door. But they never went into the
house or into the apartment. They stood outside now.
Michael heard them outside the door, but he kept slashing at
(16:17):
his mom. And Michael says that the reason
he had no worries about the police coming in is because he
knew that he was doing the work of God.
He said because of that, no one was getting into the apartment.
(16:40):
So at 2:20, the police finally break into the apartment.
They see the bloody mess. They find her body in the
bathroom and she's dead. Now, some of these news media
feeds say that he decapitated her.
(17:02):
Some don't. I'm not going to lie, I don't
think he did. But I know that he stabbed her
enough and she she died. But in the middle of all this,
Michael was holding the sword inone hand and a Masonic Bible in
the other. Now I looked up a Masonic Bible
(17:26):
and it typically a standard Bible.
It's mostly often the King JamesVersion, but it has the Masonic
content, like history of the fraternity, an accordance to
biblical passages, using degreesand pages for recording Masonic
information and things along those lines for this, for
(17:52):
ceremonies and things like that.When Michael was chasing her
around, people had heard him using the reference of Grand
Architect of the Universe. Well, in the Masonic groups,
that means God. Michael says that he heard
(18:17):
voices telling them how powerfulhe was and how he's good.
So Michael, when he was retelling this to the news
media, he had no feelings towards it.
He said, and I quote, I didn't kill her, I killed the demon
(18:42):
insider. And that's why he killed her,
because she to him was the demon.
Michael says this as well. And he says, and I quote, I was
praising God to you. It might sound silly, but in my
culture, demons are very real. So that opens up questions for
(19:11):
did Michael really see a demon or was he in a schizophrenic
moment? Now you got to remember this
too. Michael doesn't do drugs, wasn't
drinking, didn't have mental health issues ever.
(19:34):
After this incident happened, his family supported him in
getting the help that he needed because they believed that
something wasn't right. I mean, you just don't kill your
mom, you know, unless something is terribly wrong.
But for them, they didn't know why he had done this and.

According to the police, they were thinking that it was his
money issues. But if you're living with your
mom and your brother, I mean, how much money are you really
going to snap with, you know, owning A franchise Subway?
Sure, you know, you could have liens against it or whatever,
(20:23):
but for the most part, you know they're not telling you to pay
out everything right now. They're just telling you that
they're going to sue you or they're going to try to get
money from you. I hate when the police try to
justify something that really isn't there.
(20:44):
And the only reason I say that is I've had people come after me
for my business or try to put liens towards my business, and
it was not that big of a deal for me.
I'm assuming that maybe this wasn't just him.
(21:06):
Maybe him taking that sword could have had a link to
something greater, something evil, something demonic.
Maybe joining that group opened up something to him because like
I said earlier, I know that the masonry is a group that people
(21:33):
always talk about as far as you know, that it's there's the the
eye that's watching and, and theFreemasons are this totally
invisible group that controls that the world.
But the group that Michael joined, they were a group that
(21:54):
helps the community. This had nothing to do with
taking over the world. Now, if Michael didn't have
money, how did he join that group?
I'm pretty sure there's dues youhave to pay.
I'm sure there's time you got tospend.

Yes, it was only a week or two weeks earlier, but still I I'm
thinking there's some type of initiation or payment now.
His mother and his father had raised them to be loving,
generous, respectable religious people.

So why all of a sudden did this happen?
For me, this was a demonic infestation.
If you remember, we had Angela Camacho and John Allen Rubio.

We did a show on them. He said that people were talking
to him and trying to curse him when he was in the bus going
home. So that sounds similar to what
Michael was doing when the guy approached him and Michael says
(23:28):
that this guy cursed him. Could there be a curse that
makes you do something like this?
To be honest with you, I really don't know because I'd like to
(23:48):
thank that God doesn't allow people to curse one another.
But from what I've seen, I thinkthere's a big possibility that
that does happen. Did that happen to Michael Brea?
I don't know. All I know for sure is this.

He armed himself with a sword, with the Bible, with the the
three Saints, the cards, and he was told by God to kill his
mother. That to me is not God, of
course. That is a demon.

And Michael did what the demon told him because Michael
believed it was the word of God.Now, Michael was sent to
Bellevue for a few years, and he's actually out and he's
(24:54):
making his life again, and he's actually very much into the
religion, into spirituality, into trying to make his life and
other people's lives better. So let me ask you this.

Is this a type of God's plan when something terrible,
horrible happens for you or for somebody to go out and take this
horrible thing and turn it around and start to save people?
(25:39):
I would like to think so. I would like to think that there
is a plan for everything. And I, I hate when people tell
me that all the time. Oh, there's always a plan.
But you got to admit that without this incident, Michael's
passion for God has been heightened and he is trying to
(26:06):
do good. Do I believe that Michael was
possessed? No.
Do I believe that Michael was certain that God told him that
he had to kill this demon insidehis mother?
Yes. I think he wholeheartedly took
(26:30):
that and did what he did to his mother for God.
And sometimes we get lost in thetranslations of whether we think
it's God or our our sanity, our choices are all of a sudden
(26:53):
taken away from us. Or at least that's how we feel
because we decide that we're going to listen to the higher
power that is God. But in reality, God gives us
choices, which means he's not going to tell us to kill our mom
(27:13):
or to kill our kids. He's not giving us the ultimatum
of you need to do this now. He's giving us choices.
So Michael had a choice to not do what he did, but he truly
believed that this demon was thevoice of God.

thing. When the police were called, it
was 119 in the morning, and theyshowed up about 12 minutes
later, which is, I guess, a goodresponse time.
(15:54):
I mean, of course you want it sooner, But, you know, it
depends on where they're at it. They're not just outside your
door. But they never went into the
house or into the apartment. They stood outside now.
Michael heard them outside the door, but he kept slashing at
(16:17):
his mom. And Michael says that the reason
he had no worries about the police coming in is because he
knew that he was doing the work of God.
He said because of that, no one was getting into the apartment.
(16:40):
So at 2:20, the police finally break into the apartment.
They see the bloody mess. They find her body in the
bathroom and she's dead. Now, some of these news media
feeds say that he decapitated her.
(17:02):
Some don't. I'm not going to lie, I don't
think he did. But I know that he stabbed her
enough and she she died. But in the middle of all this,
Michael was holding the sword inone hand and a Masonic Bible in
the other. Now I looked up a Masonic Bible
(17:26):
and it typically a standard Bible.
It's mostly often the King JamesVersion, but it has the Masonic
content, like history of the fraternity, an accordance to
biblical passages, using degreesand pages for recording Masonic
information and things along those lines for this, for
(17:52):
ceremonies and things like that.When Michael was chasing her
around, people had heard him using the reference of Grand
Architect of the Universe. Well, in the Masonic groups,
that means God. Michael says that he heard
(18:17):
voices telling them how powerfulhe was and how he's good.
So Michael, when he was retelling this to the news
media, he had no feelings towards it.
He said, and I quote, I didn't kill her, I killed the demon
(18:42):
insider. And that's why he killed her,
because she to him was the demon.
Michael says this as well. And he says, and I quote, I was
praising God to you. It might sound silly, but in my
culture, demons are very real. So that opens up questions for
(19:11):
did Michael really see a demon or was he in a schizophrenic
moment? Now you got to remember this
too. Michael doesn't do drugs, wasn't
drinking, didn't have mental health issues ever.
(19:34):
After this incident happened, his family supported him in
getting the help that he needed because they believed that
something wasn't right. I mean, you just don't kill your
mom, you know, unless something is terribly wrong.
But for them, they didn't know why he had done this and.
(20:01):
According to the police, they were thinking that it was his
money issues. But if you're living with your
mom and your brother, I mean, how much money are you really
going to snap with, you know, owning A franchise Subway?
Sure, you know, you could have liens against it or whatever,
(20:23):
but for the most part, you know they're not telling you to pay
out everything right now. They're just telling you that
they're going to sue you or they're going to try to get
money from you. I hate when the police try to
justify something that really isn't there.
(20:44):
And the only reason I say that is I've had people come after me
for my business or try to put liens towards my business, and
it was not that big of a deal for me.
I'm assuming that maybe this wasn't just him.
(21:06):
Maybe him taking that sword could have had a link to
something greater, something evil, something demonic.
Maybe joining that group opened up something to him because like
I said earlier, I know that the masonry is a group that people
(21:33):
always talk about as far as you know, that it's there's the the
eye that's watching and, and theFreemasons are this totally
invisible group that controls that the world.
But the group that Michael joined, they were a group that
(21:54):
helps the community. This had nothing to do with
taking over the world. Now, if Michael didn't have
money, how did he join that group?
I'm pretty sure there's dues youhave to pay.
I'm sure there's time you got tospend.
(22:15):
Yes, it was only a week or two weeks earlier, but still I I'm
thinking there's some type of initiation or payment now.
His mother and his father had raised them to be loving,
generous, respectable religious people.
(22:42):
So why all of a sudden did this happen?
For me, this was a demonic infestation.
If you remember, we had Angela Camacho and John Allen Rubio.
(23:07):
We did a show on them. He said that people were talking
to him and trying to curse him when he was in the bus going
home. So that sounds similar to what
Michael was doing when the guy approached him and Michael says
(23:28):
that this guy cursed him. Could there be a curse that
makes you do something like this?
To be honest with you, I really don't know because I'd like to
(23:48):
thank that God doesn't allow people to curse one another.
But from what I've seen, I thinkthere's a big possibility that
that does happen. Did that happen to Michael Brea?
I don't know. All I know for sure is this.
(24:11):
He armed himself with a sword, with the Bible, with the the
three Saints, the cards, and he was told by God to kill his
mother. That to me is not God, of
course. That is a demon.
(24:34):
And Michael did what the demon told him because Michael
believed it was the word of God.Now, Michael was sent to
Bellevue for a few years, and he's actually out and he's
(24:54):
making his life again, and he's actually very much into the
religion, into spirituality, into trying to make his life and
other people's lives better. So let me ask you this.
(25:17):
Is this a type of God's plan when something terrible,
horrible happens for you or for somebody to go out and take this
horrible thing and turn it around and start to save people?
(25:39):
I would like to think so. I would like to think that there
is a plan for everything. And I, I hate when people tell
me that all the time. Oh, there's always a plan.
But you got to admit that without this incident, Michael's
passion for God has been heightened and he is trying to
(26:06):
do good. Do I believe that Michael was
possessed? No.
Do I believe that Michael was certain that God told him that
he had to kill this demon insidehis mother?
Yes. I think he wholeheartedly took
(26:30):
that and did what he did to his mother for God.
And sometimes we get lost in thetranslations of whether we think
it's God or our our sanity, our choices are all of a sudden
(26:53):
taken away from us. Or at least that's how we feel
because we decide that we're going to listen to the higher
power that is God. But in reality, God gives us
choices, which means he's not going to tell us to kill our mom
(27:13):
or to kill our kids. He's not giving us the ultimatum
of you need to do this now. He's giving us choices.
So Michael had a choice to not do what he did, but he truly
believed that this demon was thevoice of God.
(27:41):
