SPEAKER_00 (00:00):
Pleasure DOMs are hands down the most crave
dominance in this lifestyle.
And also the most misunderstood.
Most people have no idea whatthis actually looks like in
practice, and that's what we'regetting into today.
Welcome to the Dom Sub LivingPodcast.
Hey, it's Alessandra, and herewe have real, honest, no-fluff

(00:22):
conversations about DS dynamicsand the PDSM lifestyle.
Before I get into everything, Iwant to make sure you know that
this episode is for you whereveryou are in this.
If you're a Dom who genuinelywants to give your sub an
experience they cannot stopthinking about, this is for you.

(00:43):
If you are a sub who has neverquite had words for what you
actually were craving in adynamic, this is absolutely for
you.
And if you're just starting toexplore DS and trying to figure
out where you fit in, keeplistening, because this might be
the most clarifying thing youhear today.
We're going to cover what apleasure DOM actually is, why it

(01:06):
works the way it does on apsychological level, who this
dynamic is built for, and mostimportantly, what it actually
looks like in practice, including one thing most people
in this community don't talkabout openly.
So, what is a pleasure DOM?
Well, a pleasure DOM is adominant whose primary mode of

(01:30):
control is through pleasure.
So giving it, pacing it, edgingit, withholding it, and we'll
get into this, but sometimesforcing it.
Their power isn't expressedthrough just punishment or
strict protocol.
It's expressed through intimatemastery of what their submissive

(01:51):
craves and responds to.
Here's the simplest way I canexplain it.
A traditional Dom might say, you'll do this because I said
so.
A pleasure Dom says, You'll dothis because I know exactly what
your body and your mind arecraving, and I decide when you

(02:13):
get it.
Same dominance, but completelydifferent ways of expressing it.
And that difference inexpression is bigger than it
might sound because it changesthe entire structure of the
dynamic.
It changes how the subexperiences surrender.
It changes what the powerexchange actually feels like day

(02:37):
to day.
We're not just talking about astyle preference here.
We're talking about afundamentally different way of
holding control.
But I want to clear up thebiggest myth right away.
A pleasure DOM is not soft.
I have a whole episode on softDOMs, you can check out, but a

(02:57):
pleasure DOM and a soft DOM aretwo completely different
identities.
Pleasure DOMs can still beintensely, overwhelmingly
dominant.
The control just comes through adifferent channel.
They're not a pushover, thegiving is very deliberate and

(03:18):
it's paced and always on theDom's terms, and they're not a
service top either.
A service top follows the sub'slead.
A pleasure DOM is stilldirecting everything.
Pleasure is how they lead.
It's not a sign that they'vehanded over the wheel.

(03:39):
So maybe you assumed that a Domwho focuses on pleasure must be
passive.
That assumption is incrediblycommon and it's completely
wrong.
I'm sorry.
It holds a lot of DOMs back fromowning this lifestyle fully.
And in a little bit, I'll walkyou through exactly what

(04:00):
pleasure DOMs do in practice.
But first, I want to get intowhy this style of dominance
works the way it does.
But psychology is genuinelyfascinating.
So why does this type of dynamichit so hard?
Why do subs describe it asalmost hypnotic, almost

(04:21):
addictive?
It's because of what happens inyour nervous system when
pleasure is controlled bysomeone else.
When you're directing your ownpleasure, you're still in the
driver's seat on some level.
You're tracking, you'reregulating, managing, but when
someone else controls it, whenyou genuinely don't know when

(04:44):
it's coming, when it stops, whenmore is given or pulled away,
your brain shifts into acompletely different mode.
Anticipation becomes this ownaltered state.
You're in this constant low humof waiting.
Your body is already surrenderedbefore anything has technically

(05:06):
happened.
This is why subs describesessions with a pleasure DOM as
almost hypnotic.
Your nervous system is beingconducted by someone else.
And if you trust the personholding that, it is one of the
most complete surrenders you canexperience in this dynamic.
Most people's mental picture ofdominance centers on

(05:30):
restriction, though.
So rules, commands,consequences, punishments.
The DOM in those scenarios issomeone who limits and directs.
Pleasure DOMs flip thatentirely.
So abundance is the control, giving is the dominance, and

(05:50):
that reframes everything andchanges everything.
I want to share something Iheard from one of my clients who
is a submissive, and I thinkthis captures it perfectly.
She spent years in verystructured dynamics, like heavy
protocols and strict rules, realconsequences for every little

(06:13):
mistake.
When she first got into adynamic with a pleasure DOM, she
didn't even register it asdominance at first.
She thought he was just reallyattentive, like really generous.
It took her weeks to realize shewas more surrendered to him than
she had ever been to anyone, because the control wasn't

(06:36):
visible.
It wasn't announced.
It was woven into the pleasureitself.
She was being led the whole timeand never saw it happening.
Submissives in DS talk a lotabout wanting to feel owned, not
just commanded.
And a pleasure DOM's entireapproach requires that.

(07:00):
It requires knowing and studyingtheir sub.
What creates responsiveness?
What shuts it down?
What their sub responds to thateven the sub might not have
fully figured it out forthemselves yet.
Think about the best experienceyou've ever had in a dynamic.
It doesn't matter if you're aDom or sub or whatever, but was

(07:22):
it the rules?
Was it the structure?
Or was it the feeling that theother person was completely
locked in on you?
That they actually saw you.
The craving for a pleasure DOMisn't really about the pleasure,
it's about what that pleasuremeans.
Like it says, I see you, I'vestudied you, I know exactly what

(07:47):
you need.
And that quality of attention, being known that specifically,
registers to a lot of subs asthe most intimate form of
dominance possible.
That leads into something I wantto address because there's a
specific kind of sub who seeksout pleasure DOMs almost

(08:08):
instinctively.
Understanding who that is willtell you a lot about whether
this dynamic is actually whatyou're looking for.
So let's talk about who thisdynamic is actually built for.
Because not every sub and notevery DOM is wired for this.
And that's completely okay.
But if you've ever felt likesomething was missing in your

(08:31):
dynamic and you couldn't namewhat it was, this might do that
for you.
First, it's perfect for subs whohave felt unseen in past
dynamics.
Maybe they followed every rule, met every expectation, and still
came away feeling like somethingessential hadn't been touched

(08:51):
yet.
There was structure and notintention, control, but not
connection.
And they kept wondering, whydoesn't this feel the way I
thought it would?
Second, it's for subs whoexperience receiving pleasure as
its own form of beingvulnerable.

(09:12):
This one's important, so staywith me.
And honestly, this is a categorythat I fall into.
But for some subs, like me,being given pleasure by someone
else, like having to receive it,not being able to control it,
not manage it, like not beingable to know when it comes or

(09:33):
how intense it gets, that isactually harder than following
commands.
It requires a different kind ofsurrender, a more exposed kind.
And that exposure is exactlywhere the submission lives for
them.
It's not easier, it's just more.

(09:55):
And third, it's for subs whonever quite fit the traditional
mold.
They don't really likeprotocol-heavy dynamics or
punishment-based things or veryrigid DS.
And maybe they just kind ofthought, is this even for me?
Am I doing something wrong?
Because I've talked to so manysubs in this community and at

(10:18):
events and my own students andclients, and a lot of them have
told me they almost walked awayfrom the lifestyle entirely.
And when I asked them todescribe what they've been
looking for, almost every singleone of them was describing a
pleasure DOM.
They just didn't have the wordfor it yet.

(10:39):
Maybe that's been you.
Like you know you're a sub, youknow you want a dynamic, but
something about the standardversion just hasn't clicked.
Well, you might be closer thanyou think.
Now on the DOM side, pleasureDOMs tend to be highly
observant, patient.

(11:00):
They're driven by mastery morethan authority.
Their satisfaction as a dominantdoesn't come from compliance, it
comes from response.
Like watching their sub comeundone is the reward, not the
obedience itself.
A lot of times theyunderestimate themselves because

(11:22):
the BDSM community hashistorically centered a pretty
specific image of dominance asthe default mode, you know,
super commanding, super strict.
And honestly, I think we have 50shades of gray to thank for that
stereotype.
But if you don't match thatimage, it's easy to wonder if

(11:45):
you're dumb enough.
So I want to say this directly.
If your instinct is to give andto watch and to study your sub
and orchestrate that experience, that is not a lack of dominance.
That is a specific and powerfulexpression of it.

(12:05):
And every sub who has actuallybeen in this type of dynamic
will absolutely back me up onthat.
One disclaimer here though, thisdoesn't work when the DOM is
giving from anxiety rather thanintention.
There's a version that lookslike pleasure dominance from the
outside, but is actuallypeople-pleasing, dressed up as

(12:27):
dominance.
The line between a pleasure DOMand a DOM whose conflict
avoidant is intention.
One leads through pleasure, theother uses pleasure to avoid
leadership, and your sub willfeel the difference even if they
can't name it.
So you know what a pleasure DOMis now, you know why that type

(12:50):
of dynamic works, you know whoseit's for.
Now let's get into what apleasure DOM actually does.
I'm going to give you sixspecific ways you can actually
do this.
And one of these ways issomething I've never seen any
other educator touch on, and ithappens to be one of the most

(13:10):
intense expressions of thisdominant style there is.
Okay, so how do pleasure DOMsactually operate?
Well, number one, they watchyou, like really watch you.
Before anything else, a pleasureDOM studies.
They pay attention to whatcreates response in their sub,

(13:32):
what shuts it down, what theirsub responds to that even the
sub doesn't know aboutthemselves yet.
And I want to be clear, thisisn't passive, it's active, it's
intentional, it's almostmethodical.
Like, think of it like you'rebuilding a map.
Every sub is different, everynervous system is different.

(13:55):
What sends one person intocomplete surrender like barely
registers for another.
And a pleasure DOM's first jobbefore any scene, before any
dynamic really gets moving, it'sto make that map so specific and
so detailed that when theydecide to use it, the sub feels

(14:17):
completely understood and owned.
Like not just stimulated, butknown.
And being completely known bysomeone you trust is its own
kind of surrender beforeanything else has even happened.
Like the dynamic is already inmotion the moment your DOM is
watching you that carefully.

(14:37):
Okay, way number two, theycontrol the pace.
This might be the mostunderrated thing a pleasure DOM
does.
They slow down.
Slowing down is dominance.
A skilled pleasure DOM willbring a sub right to the edge of
something and then pull back.

(14:59):
Not necessarily as a punishment, but it's like more like a dance.
The sub's entire focus becomeswhen will they give me more?
And that focus, that suspendedwanting, that is the submission.
The pleasure hasn't even arrivedyet, and the dynamic is already

(15:21):
in motion.

(16:52):
And then number three, they usetheir voice.
And I'm not talking about justdirty talk.
I'm talking about narrating,describing what they're
observing in real time.
A pleasure Dom might say, you'regoing to feel this before
something even happens.

(17:14):
And all of a sudden, thatanticipation becomes the
experience.
Or they describe what they'renoticing about you out loud,
like what your body is doing, how you're responding, what they
see happening in real time.
Like my Dom will say to me, Ican see goosebumps starting to

(17:36):
build on your skin, or I can seeyour stomach muscles starting to
clench.
And being narrated like that, like being seen that
specifically and having it saidout loud by the person who has
all the control in that moment,it creates a depth of surrender

(17:57):
that pure physical sensationalone just can't reach.
It's the difference betweensomething happening to you and
being witnessed while somethinghappens to you.
It's like I'm in Olympicperformance and I have an expert
narrating the whole experience.

(18:17):
But there's also this effectwhere he's describing what he's
observing and it just completelymakes me feel vulnerable and
exposed, but in exactly theright way.
So that's a DOM using theirvoice as a tool, not just words,
but you know, audible attention.
Okay, so way number four is theywithhold on purpose.

(18:43):
So this surprises people becausewhen you think pleasure DOM, you
think giving.
And yes, giving is central tothis, but so is withholding.
And actually the withholding iswhat makes the giving dominant
because without it, you're justa generous person.
But with it, you're in control.

(19:06):
And just to be clear, it's not apunishment.
The sub knows the pleasure isavailable.
The Dom knows that the subknows.
And the Dom chooses deliberatelyand calmly to make them wait
anyway.
So that pause is pure dominanceexpressed through abundance, not

(19:26):
from cruelty.
It's a mastery.
There's a completely differentenergy to holding as pleasure
and withholding as punishment.
And subs feel the differencebetween that immediately, even
if they've never had languagefor why one lands so differently
than the other.
Okay, this is the fifth one.

(19:48):
It's my favorite one and the onethat nobody talks about.
So, number five is forcedpleasure.
This one I want to talk aboutopenly because I think it's one
of the most powerful and leastdiscussed expressions of
pleasure dominance.
So, okay, forced pleasure.

(20:10):
Specifically within a consensualnon-consent framework or CNC.
It means the DOM gives the subpleasure, the sub didn't ask
for, isn't in control ofreceiving, and may even be
trying to resist.
All within a fully negotiated, fully consented container.

(20:33):
This is something my own DOMdoes, like really good actually,
and I'm bringing it up becauseit perfectly captures why
pleasure dominance is a realdominance.
When your DOM is forcibly givingyou something your body responds
to, but you are not in controlof receiving it.

(20:56):
Like when you can't stop it,when you can't pace it, and you
can't choose when it ends, andmaybe you don't even mentally
want it.
That is one of the most dominantexperiences in the entire Dia
spectrum.
It's built entirely on trust andcommunication and consent.

(21:19):
Now, does this sound intense?
Well, it is.
Does it sound like softdominance?
Not even a little.

(21:50):
So that's not a side note, that's the whole foundation.
Okay, before we get into waynumber six, I have a free quick
start guide for DOMS atdomsupping.com/slash dom.
If you're new to this or youjust want to level up your
dominance, go grab it.
It's free.
The link is in the descriptiontoo.

(22:10):
Okay, the sixth way to actuallybe a pleasure DOM.
They don't turn it off when thescene ends.
So all that care, all thatattention, it follows through,
and subs feel it.
That's a huge part of why thishits so hard.
You're not just in the moment, you're held after.

(22:33):
One of the reasons subs describethis type of dynamic as almost
addictive is that full circlequality.
They are completely seen duringand after, and over time, that
builds trust that lets you godeeper every single time.
But here's a question I get inmy DMs constantly from DOMS.

(22:55):
What if this isn't naturally howI lead?
Can it be learned?
Can I become a pleasure DOM?
Well, my honest answer might notbe what you're expecting.
Some of it is wiring.
Some DOMs are naturally builtfor this.
They have the patience and theattunement, the pleasure as

(23:17):
control instinct is alreadythere.
If that's you, this episodeprobably felt like a mirror.
You've been doing this and justneeded a name for it finally.
But a lot Of the specificskills, so the pacing, the
observation, using your voiceintentionally, reading your subs

(23:37):
responses in real time, thoseare all genuinely learnable.
You can build them with practiceand with deliberate attention.
And like I said, I have thatfree quick start guide at
domsubliving.com/slash dom thatwill help you with all of that
too.

But here's the thing (23:54):
if your natural dominant expression
genuinely craves strict protocoland structure and discipline,
don't force yourself into a boxthat isn't yours.
The most important thing in anydynamic is that your dominance
is real.
A pleasure DOM who's performingisn't a pleasure DOM.

(24:17):
They're a confused DOM with justnew vocabulary.
And their sub will feel thatthey're not authentic, even if
they can't articulate whysomething feels off.
Now, you can also be what my DOMis, which is a mix.
So he's a pleasure DOM in someaspects and a strict hardcore

(24:38):
high protocol master in otherways.
Sometimes he gravitates more tobeing a daddy Dom.
It's really about finding whatworks for you.
Now, we started this episodeasking what a pleasure DOM is
and why subs crave them.
Well, here's your answer.
It's not really about thepleasure.

(24:59):
It's about what the pleasuresays.
It says, I see you, I've studiedyou, I know exactly what you
need, I own you, and I decidewhen you get pleasure.
That combination is why subscrave them.
And remember to grab that freequick start guide for DOMs at
