Speaker 1 (00:00):
Do you want know five? It's the Erica show. You know,
we love DPAK. They have some of the best shows
that you will ever see. And we're so excited because
Elf is coming to DPAK, going down November twenty sixth
to the thirtieth. You can get tickets now as low
as fifty bucks Great seats, dpaknseed dot com. We have
Jack to get on the phone, who plays Buddy. And
I'm so excited because this is such an incredible show.
(00:23):
This is your first national tour.
Speaker 2 (00:25):
Right, yes, that's true, which I know that you were.
Speaker 1 (00:27):
A part of the ensemble for Waitress, which is also
one of my all time favorites. I mean, hands down great.
What can we look forward to for Elf this year?
Speaker 2 (00:36):
Elf is an absolute blast. This production is based on
the Broadway revival from twenty twenty four that ran on
Broadway last year, and it's the same creative team as
that production, and so you can see a lot of
what you saw on Broadway last year and so many
ties to that original two thousand and three movie starring
(00:57):
Will Ferrell. It is a huge, incredibly fun, festive show
for the whole family, and you watch the story of
Buddy as he finds out he's a human and wants
to reconnect with his father for the first time.
Speaker 1 (01:11):
Okay, so as you get ready because being Buddy is
a huge role, you know, for the show. And so
did you go and watch the movie several times? Like
how did you get yourself in character and prepared for
this role?
Speaker 2 (01:24):
Absolutely? I have been watching this movie since birth. I
s every single year with my family. Oh my gosh,
It's one of the best Christmas movies ever. And so
for me, when I saw the auditions for Buddy, I
immediately was just overjoyed. I was like, I have to
try to do this because I've been obsessed with this
(01:46):
since for forever.
Speaker 1 (01:48):
Yeah, it is definitely a classic that you have to
watch every year to make it official for the holiday season.
For sure.
Speaker 2 (01:53):
Absolutely.
Speaker 1 (01:54):
Okay, tell us about you because you know, we see
you on stage and we know you as Buddy on stage,
but who is Jack behind the scenes? Like what is
it that Jack likes to do when you're not on
the stage?
Speaker 2 (02:05):
Man? Well, I grew up in Carmel, Indiana, and I
you know, I grew up in the theater and then
I found myself at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh for
the last four years, and I got lucky enough I
graduated in May and somehow right away found myself doing
this role on the road, which I feel like the
(02:25):
luckiest person in the world.
Speaker 1 (02:27):
I mean, that's amazing because there's people I know that
have been trying for years, so like, obviously a lot
of talent there to score such a great, big role.
Speaker 2 (02:35):
Thank you so much. I feel incredibly lucky. And outside
of the theater, I'm also a puppeteer and I am
obsessed with the Muppets, so I do a lot of
like puppetry and stuff like that too. I have a blast.
Speaker 1 (02:50):
Well yeah, that's so fun. Okay, So what are you
looking forward to as this being your first national tour?
What is some things that you're you know, you've been
looking forward to as you stop in each city to
visit the cities and tour a little bit.
Speaker 2 (03:02):
Yes, And for me, one of my favorite things whenever
I'm traveling because I've never been to Durham before, which
I'm really excited for. In fact, I've never been to
any of these cities except for maybe one or two,
and so I love going to art museums and museums
in general, because it tells me a lot about the city.
That's my favorite thing by far.
Speaker 1 (03:23):
Okay, so we've got some great museums. Some of them
are in Raleigh, of course, which is like a twenty
five to thirty minute drive, and then Durham is not
for the foody scene. We've got a lot of great
restaurants that are unique, you know, locally owned restaurants with
top tier chefs. So I'm excited to have you. But
if anybody is on the fence about getting their tickets
(03:43):
sell us. Why do they have to get their tickets today?
Speaker 2 (03:45):
Absolutely, you have to get your tickets today because this
is a show that anybody can come to and enjoy.
What is so fun about this show is even though
Buddy Deelfa is an adult, it's a coming of age story, right,
and because of that, you get to watch this person
experience the world almost through child's eyes, and so just
(04:07):
naturally that creates humor that children would love, and it
creates humor that adults would love. On top of it
already being such a classic with gorgeous choreography and dancing
and singing and lights and uh, it is just absolutely
great time for everybody.
Speaker 1 (04:24):
I'm coming opening a night with my kids. They're very excited.
But we have Jack decat study. So cannot wait to
see you. Get the tickets now dpakanc dot com. Y'all.
It's gonna be a great job. I've seen it before
and it does not disappoint.
Speaker 2 (04:37):
Oh. Well, thank you so much for giving me a call.
It's great to meet you.
Speaker 1 (04:41):
Yeah, I'll be like, hey, Ja, got talk to you
on the phone.
Speaker 2 (04:44):
Fantastic, Please come say hello.
Speaker 1 (04:46):
Okay, absolutely, well, thank you. Happy Thanksgiving to I know
that you'll be Oh how does that work for you
as you'll be traveling throughout the holiday.
Speaker 2 (04:54):
Yeah, we have like a full cast and crew Thanksgiving
on we have we have in North Carolina. I think
we have a day off that we are all getting
together and having like a big family meal together, which
will be a blast.
Speaker 1 (05:08):
That's wonderful. Well, we can't wait to see you.
Speaker 2 (05:11):
Well, thank you so much. I can't wait to see y'all.
