I'll double down and say it again: Bernard Purdie may be the best drummer that you've never heard of. I stand by it! But I'll let his music stand on its own, both from his own releases to collaborations with a veritable who's-who across the music landscape. He also created a shuffle, which is something we could all only hope to do.
