Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey there, faithful
Fox family.
Welcome back to another episodewhere we dig into God's Word
with a little humor and a lot ofheart.
I'm your host, justin, andtoday we are starting Something
Epic an eight-part series on thearmor of God from Ephesians 6.
And let me tell you, if you'veever felt like you're getting
your spiritual butt kicked on adaily basis, this series is for
(00:22):
you.
Let's get into it on a dailybasis.
Speaker 2 (00:51):
This series is me
grace If you're here in this
place.
I've been blind by your holylight.
Give me blessings from abovewhen I broadcast.
Welcome to the Faithful FoxPodcast.
Speaker 1 (01:05):
All right, listen up
buttercups, because we're about
to dive into some seriousspiritual warfare talk.
Now, before you start picturingme in medieval armor trying to
fight demons with a foam swordthat's actually pretty good
quality Tell me, write that down.
Okay, we're talking aboutsomething way more practical and
way more powerful.
See, paul wasn't just beingdramatic when he wrote Ephesians
(01:29):
, chapter 6, verses 10 through18.
This dude had been through theringer, beaten, shipwrecked,
thrown in prison more times thana repeat offender.
He knew what spiritual battlelooked like and he's basically
giving us the ultimate survivalguide.
But here's the thing that getsme fired up God doesn't send us
(01:51):
into battle naked.
I mean that, spiritually, people keep it holy.
He's equipped us witheverything we need to not just
survive, but to absolutelydominate in the spiritual realm.
This, right here, this is gearcheck.
Okay, troops, let's talk aboutwhat we're working with here.
(02:13):
Ephesians, chapter 6, verses 13through 17, lays out our
complete spiritual loadout, andit's better than anything Amazon
Prime can deliver.
In two days We've got sixpieces of armor and over the
next few episodes we're going tobreak down each one like we're
the spiritual equivalent ofthose gear review YouTubers.
You know the ones they'll spendlike 20 minutes talking to you
(02:34):
about the thread count on atactical backpack or something.
So, first up, we've got thebelt of truth and no, this isn't
some medieval chastity beltsituation.
This is your foundation, youranchor, the thing that holds
everything else together.
Without truth, you're basicallytrying to fight in your
(02:59):
underwear and nobody wants tosee that.
Then there's the breastplate ofrighteousness your chest
protection, your heart guard.
This isn't about beingself-righteous.
Your chest protection, yourheart guard.
This isn't about beingself-righteous.
It's about wearing Christ'srighteousness like the world's
most stylish bulletproof vest.
Your feet get the gospel ofpeace.
Imagine having shoes socomfortable that you could run a
marathon on broken glass andstill want to tell everyone
(03:21):
about the good news.
That's about the vibe we'regoing for.
The Shield of Faith this bad boycan extinguish all the flaming
arrows of the evil.
One, all of them.
Satan's out there with hislittle bow and arrow set and
you're walking around withCaptain America's shield.
The Helmet of Salvationprotects your noggin, your
(03:43):
thought life, your mental gameBecause, let's be real, most of
our battles happen between ourears anyway.
And finally, the Sword of theSpirit, the Word of God.
This is your offensive weapon, your lightsaber, your spiritual
katana, no-transcript.
(04:05):
Now here's what I love aboutthis Paul doesn't say buy this
armor or earn this armor, ormaybe, if you're good enough,
you'll get this armor.
He says put on the armor of God,it's already yours.
God's like here's your gear,soldier.
Now suit up and go change theworld.
This is battle ready.
(04:25):
Alright, so we know what gearwe have, but let's talk about
why we need it, because some ofy'all are out here trying to
fight spiritual battles withnothing but good intentions and
a positive attitude, and that'slike bringing a pool noodle to a
sword fight.
Ephesians, chapter 6, verse 12,hits us with the reality check,
(04:56):
for our struggle is not againstflesh and blood, but against the
rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this
dark world and against thespiritual forces of evil.
In the heavenly realmsTranslation that co-worker who
drives you crazy that's not yourreal enemy.
That politician you can't standNot your real enemy.
That person who cuts you off intraffic and makes you question
your salvation Definitely notyour real enemy.
The real battle is happening indimensions we can't see against
(05:19):
forces that want to steal, killand destroy everything good in
your life.
They want to wreck yourmarriage, destroy your faith,
mess with your kids and make youso discouraged that you give up
on God's plan for your life.
But here's the good news, andthis is why I get so pumped
about this series we are notdefenseless.
We're not sitting ducks.
(05:40):
We serve the God who createdthe universe, and he's given us
everything we need to not justsurvive but to thrive in
spiritual warfare.
Picture this You're having oneof those days where everything's
going wrong.
You wake up late, spill coffeeon your shirt, get stuck in
traffic and then your boss dumpsa project on you that was due
(06:01):
yesterday by noon.
You're questioning everythingyour job, your life choices,
maybe even whether God actuallylikes you.
That's not just bad luck, fam.
That's coordinated spiritualattack designed to make you
forget who you are and whose youare.
But when you're suited up inGod's armor, you can recognize
it for what it is and fight backwith truth, righteousness,
(06:24):
peace, faith salvation and theword of God.
Righteousness, peace, faithsalvation and the word of God.
Over the next six episodeswe're going to break down each
piece of armor so you knowexactly how to put it on and use
it.
We'll talk about what it lookslike practically, how to spot
when you're missing a piece andhow to stay battle ready in a
(06:45):
world that's constantly tryingto knock you down.
Speaker 2 (06:48):
This is R mistakes.
Oh, my mistake.
Speaker 1 (06:51):
Before we wrap up,
let's talk about some classic
spiritual warfare rookiemistakes and yeah, I've made
every single one of these, soI'm definitely speaking from
experience here.
Rookie mistake number one goinginto battle without checking
your gear.
You wouldn't want to go to worknaked Well, most of you
wouldn't but we try to facespiritual battles without
(07:13):
putting on our armor first.
It's like showing up to abasketball game in flip-flops
and wondering why you keepgetting dunked on.
Rookie mistake number twothinking you can handle it on
your own.
Like I got this, guys, I'lljust positive think my way out
of this spiritual attack.
That's like trying to stop afreight train with the power of
(07:33):
friendship.
It's cute but not effective.
Rookie mistake number threeforgetting that the armor is
God's, not yours.
You can't level up yourbreastplate through good deeds
or unlock new armor pieces byreading more Bible verses.
It's all grace, baby, god'salready given you the premium
package.
The beautiful thing is God'spatient with us rookies.
(07:56):
He doesn't roll his eyes whenwe mess up.
He just picks us up, dusts usoff and says all right, let's
try this again, and this timeremember to put on your helmet.
Let's try this again, and thistime remember to put on your
helmet, fam.
I am so excited for thisjourney we're about to take
together.
Over the next seven episodes,we're going to transform from
(08:17):
spiritual rookies into warriorswho know how to stand firm
against whatever the enemythrows at us.
And here's what I want you toremember as we start this series
you are not defenseless, youare not forgotten.
You are not fighting alone.
The God of the universe hasequipped you with everything you
need to live victoriously inthis broken world.
(08:46):
So, as you go into this week, Iwant you to remember that you
are a warrior in God's army, notbecause you're tough enough or
strong enough or good enough, but because he has chosen you,
equipped you and called you tobe part of his kingdom.
(09:09):
The battle is real, but thevictory is already won.
Jesus has already defeated sin, death and the devil.
We're not fighting for victory,we're fighting from victory.
Take a moment right now tothank God for the armor he's
(09:32):
given you.
Ask him to help you, rememberto put it on each day and to
give you wisdom as we divedeeper into each piece over the
coming episodes.
You are loved, you are equipped, you are ready.
(09:56):
No-transcript.
