Speaker 1 (00:18):
Welcome back to the Freedom First Podcast.
I'm your host, justin Arrington.
Thank you once again for tuningin to today's show.
This is episode number 46, andthis is a podcast where we talk
about becoming better humans, becoming better at every aspect
of life.
I have this thing called thefour pillars of life, and that
is faith, family, fitness andfinance.

(00:40):
Those are my four pillars thatI live by.
I believe that everyone shouldbe fit.
I believe that everyone shouldhave a good live by.
I believe that everyone shouldbe fit.
I believe that everyone shouldhave a good family life.
I believe that everyone shouldhave their faith with God in
alignment, and I believe thateverybody should have financial
stability, financial freedom, whatever that looks like for you
, and that's what I talk abouton this show.

(01:00):
Today.
I'm going to be talking alittle bit about setting goals
and how to achieve your goals, but first, before we dive into
that, I just want to say thanksfor tuning in again.
If you guys have been listeningto all the episodes that I've
released in the past or if thisis your first time listening,
this is going to be a good one,and I feel like it's something
that everyone is going to beable to relate to, especially if

(01:23):
you are wanting to better yourlife, which I'm assuming that
that is most likely the case, since you're listening to a
personal development podcast.
So, guys, with that said, goalshow do you achieve your goals?
You write them down on a pieceof paper, you put them up on
your wall.
Six months go by and nothinghappens.
I think in reality, that's howmost people look at their goals.

(01:46):
But have you ever thought aboutreverse engineering your goals?
I'm sure a lot of you guys haveheard about reverse engineering
at some point in your life.
So I'm going to break that downfor you.
Let's say that one of your goalsis to build a house that you
can raise your family in.
Let's just say that property, that building that home, is

(02:11):
going to cost you $500,000.
Now, in today's market,building a dream house for 500
grand is it's a stretch in someplaces, but we're just going to
use that as an example.
So what I need you to do is youhave this vision of a house.
It's worth 500 grand from thereto start reverse engineering it

(02:32):
.
You need to figure out how muchdo I have to put down on a
house like that?
That's step number one.
You figured out the first step.
The next step is how much is ahouse like this going to cost me
every month to live in?
Okay, it's going to cost $2,000.
I don't know, I mean, it'sgoing to be different for
everybody but it's going to costyou two grand a month, okay,

(02:54):
well, from there you know thatthat's about what I'm thinking,
that I'm going to be at.
Then I need to go get amortgage, then I need to go and
get pre-approved right andsooner or later, like, you're
eventually going to buy thathouse.
You know, and that's a verysimple example of it, but let's
take it even a larger step.
This is something that I do allthe time.
This is something that isinvolved with my quarterly

(03:16):
planning.
I review all my goals for, youknow, the next five years, and I
reverse, engineer every singleaspect of my life, from the
house that I want to own, fromthe cars that I want to drive,
from the vacations that I wantto, you know that I want to take
with my family.
I reverse everything all theway down to this is how much
money I need to be making a weekin order to start living my

(03:39):
dream life, and like it makes itso I don't know.
Can I say that it sounds morecomplicated, more complicated
than it is.
I mean, let's just do this.
Let me pull out my calculatorand I'll do this with you.
Let's say that you want to makea million dollars a year.
So you type in a milliondollars on your phone.

(04:00):
You divide that by 12.
That gives you $83,333.33 amonth.
That's what you have to make amonth.
Let's divide that by 30.
You know, so you guys have tobe making about 2,700 or almost
$2,800 a day in order to reach amillion dollars.
Let's divide that even more.

(04:20):
So let's divide that by 24.
Now you're making $115 an hour.
Divide that again by 60.
You're going to be wanting tomake $2 a minute.
You guys reverse engineeringthings Like it really puts
things into perspective for youand sometimes it's going to make

(04:42):
you open your eyes and realize, holy crap, I have a long way to
go, but in a really short timeto get there.
But then a lot of you guys aregoing to be like, holy crap,
like I may not be as far awayfrom my dreams as I think I am.
Every single goal that you puton a vision board or you have in
your mind.
I challenge you to go out andreverse engineer what it's going

(05:03):
to take in order to achievethat thing.
You know, this might be alittle bit more tricky with with
your fitness, but actually notreally.
You can go and you can trackall your calories.
You convert, reverse engineer.
You know how much you weigh, how much you're consistently
like, how many calories you'reburning per workout.
Reverse it from there.

(05:24):
But, guys, anything that's onyour vision board right now, I
suggest that you go and do this.
Figure out how much you have tomake every single year to live
life on your own terms, live afree life.
You know, the first time that Idid this, I kind of realized,
like you know, the first timethat I did this, I kind of
realized, like you know, what Idon't necessarily need to make
as much as I thought that I did.
I mean, that's obviously noexcuse to you know, slow down

(05:47):
and and start pumping the brakeson on making more money.
That's definitely not what I'vedone.
If anything, it inspires me todo more.
But, guys, this will give you areally good base foundation of
what it is that you need to doin order to achieve and do the
things that you want.
It's really not that hard.
So, guys, that's my challengefor you today Go out and if you

(06:08):
guys have not made a visionboard before, look up a vision
board put, put things on a pieceof paper that you want, you
know places you want to orplaces you want to travel to
Maybe it's a car, maybe it's ahouse, whatever and then reverse
engineer the cost on what it'sgoing to take to actually
achieve that.
It's that simple, guys.
So go out and make it happen.

(06:30):
That's all I have for you today, and we'll go ahead and chat
with you once again tomorrow.
