The (in)courage Podcast

Welcome to the (in)courage podcast! We are all different ages, in different life stages, and we come from different cultures and churches, but our common thread is the hope of Jesus. Each weekday we meet you right where you are as one of our writers shares what’s going on in her everyday life and how God’s right in the middle of it all. We bring our joys and struggles equally so that you can feel less alone, and be empowered by the hope Jesus gives. We hope you’ll bring us along with you on your morning walks, driving to the grocery store, waiting in the preschool pickup line, alone in your kitchen, or as you wind down for the evening. Wherever you join us, you’re welcome here, and we’re honored to be a part of your day. Read our daily posts at incourage.me. The (in)courage podcast is brought to you by DaySpring. For over 50 years, DaySpring has created quality cards, books, and gifts that help you live your faith. Find out more at DaySpring.com.

"Has it occurred to you, sweet sister, that you are an influencer? The reality is you don’t have to have thousands of followers on your favorite social media platform to be an influencer; in fact, you don’t have to be on social media at all. If an influencer is simply a person who inspires or guides the actions of others, has it occurred to you, sweet sister, that you are an influencer?

Given that you are an influe...

"'The grace of the Gospel is that on ordinary Tuesdays it’s still not too late to write a new ending. I was incapable of rescuing myself. History and my own story had proven this over and over. Instead, I recognized that the same God who had rescued Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob would need to be the one to rescue me from being drowned by the history that lived in me so that I could rescue my son.'

"It’s easy to discount the bad habits or the casual things we do when we are bored, like Copper grazing on grass. But friend, it is time to recognize that sometimes those are the very things that are leading us away from becoming who God is calling us to be.

So let's take inventory of our hearts and be intentional with every moment, even the boring moments of life. Let’s pay attention to what we are watching, ...

"God isn’t limited by your weakness and pain. In fact, He promises that His power works best in your limping and weakness. Your strength is not necessary for God to move. I wonder if sometimes our strength can get in the way of His Spirit. We think we are needed. But God is the One people need to encounter, not us.

 If you are weak today…

If you feel benched on the sidelines…

"Maybe you are the well, steady and stable and setting the stage for someone to encounter the solution they’ve been waiting for.

Maybe you are the sycamore tree planted in the right location so that a shunned man who can’t see over the crowd can climb up and get a glimpse of Jesus (Luke 19:1-10).

Even when you can’t see the immediate fruit, God sees the full picture of what He intends to do through your...

"My to-do list always overruns the lines on a page, reminding me that it will never end. It’s not hard to get overwhelmed by it all. So many tasks. Some non-negotiable, others that can (and will) wait. Yet amidst the to-do’s engulfing me, there’s a tiny nugget of peace when I remember the Hands that are truly holding all things together.

When I’m overcome by the tasks and ordinary stuff of my life, even then God is ...

"Many years ago on the 4th of July, it started pouring as soon as we arrived at the high school stadium where fireworks would be launched. Our family raced to our van and waited for the storm to pass. Instead of letting the kids moan about our wasted evening, we preempted the complaints with some soul-searching discussion on our definition of courage. We used the time to share examples of people who we each viewed as courageou...

"Our allegiance isn’t to culture; it’s to the King.

The culture tells us through a barrage of posts, videos, products, and more that we have to make ourselves beautiful. But the Bible tells us something different.

I believe beauty is in every body!"

"Don’t wait until tomorrow to say what needs to be said today. What words do you need to say? Find the strength to say them, today.

Let someone know you love them, today.

 Make amends, today.

 Send that text, today.

Let’s not wait for the funeral to tell someone what they mean to us."

"It's easy for me to thank God and move on to the next thing. It's easy for me to just expect Him to meet my needs and forget to thank Him altogether. It's easy for thankfulness to have no impact on my life at all.

That's where the fight is. That's where we die to our flesh and let the Holy Spirit live through us. May we continue to learn the ways of gratitude so we can easily resist the way...

"May the light take over the dark. Some days it’s hard. Some days the addictions seem to be winning. But we just keep on singing "Amazing Grace" and holding each other’s hands and praying for the light to take over the dark.

 And it always does."

"God sees the real us no matter the mess of our home, hair, health, or circumstances.

Jesus is the one to stretch out a hand. The one to meet us exactly where and as we are. The one who goes first with empathy and care and kindness. The one who makes us feel so confidently loved that we can shed our fears and boldly proclaim that love."

"We don’t need platitudes for our pain; we need compassion. If you’re in a season that has gone on way past its expiration date, perhaps so long you’re tired of the word “season” altogether, I am here to sit with you and accept that this is hard. This is hard, and we don’t know what will come next. But we’re here together, and so is our Lord."

"How strong is your faith? Do you feel His love for you? Are you expressing His love to those around you? Are you forgiving yourself for the past? Are you accepting God’s mercy with an open heart?
