Nola introduces you to Bella Brave - who was a social media star and TikTok user who died at the age of 10 after a battle with multiple medical conditions. Her real name was Isabella Thomson, and she was born with several rare health conditions, including dwarfism and no immune system. This amazing little girl impacted Nola's life when she wrote and sang a song for her. Since then, Nola herself has been diagnosed with Breast Cancer and is now navigating a Stage 4 diagnosis. Listen in as Nola shares her journey and how Bella inspires her to share her story and support others navigating illness.
About Nola:
"I am a breast cancer survivor. When I was first diagnosed, I was terrified. As a former oncology nurse, I was focused on complications, side effects, and long-term effects of treatment. My youngest daughter was getting ready to move out in a few months. As a single mom, I had no idea how I would manage on my own. Plus I was self-employed. How would I keep working? How would I pay for everything? There were moments when I just wanted to give up. I realized that I was going to have to walk my talk. As a confidence coach for kids, I have worked with hundreds of children to boost their confidence, help them become more resilient and develop a powerful mindset. I knew I needed the same strategies in order to walk through my cancer journey. With the help of a friend, we created a cancer care plan for me. My cancer care plan made a huge difference. I felt more relaxed. I developed many different ways to manage side effects from chemo and radiation. I was able to keep my spirits up and navigate through treatment with grace."
