(00:04):
Welcome to the Intertwined Life podcast.
I'm your host, Jenny Zenz. I am a wife and a mom on a
mission. I've got a passion to help women
discover practical ways to applythe power of God's word to our
everyday stuff. I truly believe that our walks
with the Lord should be seamlessly intertwined with our
everyday lives. It should affect every move we

(00:25):
make and every breath we take. So come on, let's do life
together. You've got this because he's got
you. All right, Josh Broyles, welcome
to well, what is what is actually the Intertwined Life
podcast. But I'm also right now we're
doing a series with the Rock Harbor family and anybody else

(00:47):
who happens to listen. And we're launching into 2026
and which is crazy. Yeah.
I mean, I know, I'm, I know I'm a fair amount older than you,
but I remember when we literallywere partying because it was
1999. It's just crazy.
Yeah, in 99 I was 4 so. We won't.

(01:08):
OK. I'm 16.
I was 16. It's all good.
I was, Oh my gosh, I was the ageof my daughter is now, which is
really weird. So, yeah, time, time.
Well, I'm really glad that you're here in so many ways.
So as the church, each family will know Josh is a Co worker of
mine. Josh has just come on staff as

(01:30):
the new youth leader, which we have been praying and praying
and praying for you before we ever met you for so long and so
excited to have you join the team.
Why don't as we get started and anybody's listening who is not
part of Rock Harbor Church in Melbourne Beach, FL, this is
still for you. The message is still going to be
transcending and always because it's all about walking with the

(01:53):
Lord and being disciples of Jesus in all aspects of our
life. So we're going to be doing a
series where some of it's talking about the physical
aspect, some of it the spiritualaspect, some of it the
relational aspect. And so I'm going to have a lot
of people from the church and staff and maybe some leadership
team and others who come in and talk about which area that they
are most passionate about right now and how that reflects and

(02:14):
honors God when we focus on following him with all areas of
our life. So that's what we're going to be
doing. But I wanted to, before we
really launch into that, Josh, share a little bit about who you
are, your family, where you comefrom, not only for the regular
podcast listeners, but for our church family who's just getting
to know you guys. Yeah, I'm originally from
Southeast Texas, about an hour and a half outside of Houston in

(02:37):
a small town called Vidor. We're like 30 minutes from
Galveston, 20 minutes from Louisiana, so way Southeast
Texas area. I was born and raised in a
pastor's home. My dad was in ministry, my mom
was in ministry. And was in church my entire life
and at an early age giving life to the Lord.
Was always in youth ministry, always in church.
And then graduated high school. And I followed my family's

(02:59):
footsteps and went to Bible college.
And at Bible college I met my wife Cassandra.
And the rest is history. We fell in love in college,
dated for a little bit, end up getting engaged, got married.
We have two kids now, a 9 week old and an almost 1920 month old
son and daughter named Zion and Sayla.
And that's pretty much, that's pretty much me.

(03:21):
We just recently moved to Florida literally 2 1/2 weeks
ago to take this job from Houston.
So a lot of new stuff happened in our life right now.
So that's kind of where we're at.
So exciting. So exciting.
I think you and I have a lot of similarities.
You were raised in Baptist Church, right?
Yeah. I was raised Southern Baptist in
the Bible Belt. So there's a lot of things I was
actually curious to ask you. We may or may not cut this part

(03:43):
out, I don't know. But for me, I'm so thankful for
my scriptural foundation that I got being raised in the church
and the total clear message of salvation by grace through faith
in Christ alone and that. But in, in my area of the
country at least, there's also alot of legalism that can often

(04:03):
find its way into to those mm, hmm, veins.
Is that something that you also kind of dealt with?
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. I think you'll find that a lot
of churches too, but especially in that kind of culture, you
know, again, very old school Southern style.
Like, not that women are less, but like, hey, like, like men
like, like we wanna servant everywhere we can and not let
women do anything. So like, but it gets to the

(04:24):
point that like we wanna be so on top of our chivalry that it
gets to the point that we're like almost degrading women for
even wanting to help out, you know, so download like, like I
see it from an overall arching leadership point, but then down
the line it gets very Gray very quickly.
So, yeah, very a lot of similarities than that,
especially in the ministry that's.
Interesting, what did your mom do in ministry?

(04:45):
My mom always was just helping my dad out in youth ministry.
Did a lot of kids ministry, a lot of outreach, lot of mission
stuff. Was never a big teacher.
She isn't like to she's a teacher.
She actually been a teacher now at a daycare for about I think
17 years. Just always like teaching like
younger kids. It's a Christian pic here so
never a big like front stage preaching type person but it's

(05:05):
always been involved in ministryas well.
Yeah, you know, it really does. It's hard when one person, I'm
saying this myself and most people know my husband works in
the parking lot, but you're not going to find him on the stage
most likely. But it is hard when, especially
in a full time role like Kevin and Angie, like, like you and
with the youth and all that, to have one person called and one

(05:28):
person not. There's, there can definitely be
some hard things there cuz man, it takes a lot.
So I'm excited to see cuz Cass also is really beautifully
gifted and called as well in so many ways.
So all right, great. Well, we'll, we'll move on to
why we're really here, but I'm excited for all of us to get to
know you more. It's gonna be a lot of fun.

(05:48):
So tell me when I sent you the message and I said, hey, we are
doing Get Fit 2026 and we're talking about all areas fit in
faith and form and meaning physically and family and
friends meaning relationally. Which area of that really are
you feeling super passionate about right now?

(06:09):
Yeah, oh man, mine would be minewould be physical form and
that'd probably be like a year round answer too.
So what, what is it? How how does that?
First I'll give a little bit more what you mean about that
physical form. How do you see that term?
And then also, where does that connect with your walk with the
Lord? Yeah, so at a really young age,

(06:30):
you know, I was always doing sports like T-ball, Little
League football and stuff like that.
And I wasn't always the best 'cause I'm not, I'm not the
tallest guy in the world. And like at a young age, you
realize, like man, like there's levels to playing sports.
Like unless you're a certain height, certain weight, like
you're not going to be that good.
So I always play sports throughout high school was
always like an above average athlete.

(06:50):
But when I was in the eighth grade, I found jiu jitsu.
I started doing martial arts andgot really big into MMA and
boxing. I fell in love with that sport.
And the older I, the more I did that, the more I started
crossing lines with people who did CrossFit.
And when I tell you, when I joined my first CrossFit gym, I
used to be like a big like bodybuilder workout guy.

(07:11):
And like you'd see cross people if for those of you who are
watching who maybe aren't in thein the fitness industry,
CrossFit is just high intensity workouts.
So it's classes that are like about an hour long.
You come and there's a coach, there's a workout on the board.
So you do a warm up, you do a strength portion.
You do like the quick part of the workout.
So like the fast part, get your heart rate up really high.

(07:32):
So people who were kind of a little bit busy kind of have
some kids to the house. They want to get in there and
get out quickly. But when I saw CrossFit done the
right way, I fell in love with the sport and actually coached
for the past seven years in the sport during the time.
This is why it became a huge part of me during the time of
doing CrossFit is a lot of my friends were competing at the
next level at the CrossFit Games.

(07:53):
So it's almost like the Olympics, but it's for CrossFit.
It's called the CrossFit Games. So I've, I mean, I've got
friends who are living, breathing, eating, living in a
sauna and cold tub stretching like doing therapy.
But then on the course of when Iwas coaching, I would coach that
class at 5:00 PM, but at 5:00 AMI'm working with, I remember
lady specifically her name was Miss Cindy.
Miss Cindy was in her early 80s.Her husband recently passed

(08:15):
away. She was in a two-story house and
she couldn't go upstairs anymoreto clean because she was she was
older. So I got to teach Miss Cindy how
to activate leg strength in her quads to walk up and down
stairs. But then 10 hours later, I'm
teaching someone how to back spot 500 lbs.
So it's super cool the way CrossFit works and helps
everyone in a dynamic atmospherecome in and everyone's equal.

(08:38):
And the big thing about CrossFitis the sport was made for
everyone like it was made for everyone to do all the workouts.
If you can't do a pull up, hey, we'll start somewhere else.
We'll do small, we'll put bands below you, we'll help you, we'll
do assistant pull up. So it's been to take everyone
from one place to the next together.
And I, I just fell in love with that model from the beginning.
It was very inclusive. Are you familiar with Trinity

(08:59):
Fitness? I am not.
OK, you're going to be excited. This will be our little
commercial. So Trinity Fitness, a lot of
local people will know who Trinity Fitness is, but it was
started by a guy who lives actually right down the road
here. And there are several locations
actually across the country, butthere are several right here in
Brevard County. I believe there's one in Palm
Bay. My husband has been there since

(09:19):
we moved here at the one beach side right here, 5:00 AM.
And it is a CrossFit gym. It is also a ministry and so it
is a Christian based CrossFit and go in there and they begin
every class with a devotion and then they hit it hard and it is
exactly what you're saying. And the trainers, I mean it is
awesome and they have a membership suggested for the

(09:42):
month. But if anybody cannot make that,
they also because they are donorsupported in so many ways and no
one gets turned away for. Oh.
That's so awesome. I'm gonna send you all the info.
You're gonna love this place. Anybody listening, especially if
you're in Brevard County, most of us will know Trinity Fitness.
If not, check it out. If this sounds like your thing

(10:02):
and this would be a great place to start, you know, at the
beginning of the year. So how do you see that
discipline of your body lining up with your desire to walk
closely with Jesus? Yeah, I think is, I mean, I
think it starts with you just attaching spiritual habits to
things you're already doing consistently.

(10:23):
So what I mean by that is like, like, I mean, I like I've been
in ministry for a pretty good while now.
My parents were in ministry. So like waking up in the morning
and reading my Bible and prayingis not something I struggle
with. As of some people, they might
struggle with that but not have a hard time, like actually
working out or running. You know, it could be the
opposite side of it. But if you attach things to your

(10:45):
spiritual habits already, it just shows up in it.
So if you find a place, you're not trying to, you're not trying
to fit God into your life where you're free, but rather you're
trying to fit things in your life where you're walking with
the Lord is, if that makes sense.
So it's, it's, it's the opposite.
So like when I work out, it's mytime to kind of like get away,

(11:05):
not from again. I have two younger kids.
Like I'm not that deep. I've only been a parent for less
than two years now. So it's not like, Oh, I need a
break already. Like I'm not, I'm stressed out.
Like we haven't even hit that line.
My, my kids don't even talk. You know, my kids don't even
talk yet. But like there's a time where
like I do a lot of ministry and I interact a lot of people, but
working on this time, I can actually get a loan.
I can kind of like decompress what I'm going through in my
life and my feelings kind of just detach for a few minutes

(11:28):
and then in between my sets fromlike just breathing kind of
walking in out of my garage. I do a lot of stuff in my
garage. I can like get a quick second
and I'm like, oh man, OK, here we go.
So I started to get my thoughts in line again.
So we're in the morning time. I'm killing it in my devotional
time. I might not be able to practice
that throughout the day as much as I get so wrapped up and busy.
So if I attach that into my quiet time and add that on or

(11:49):
it's a big time. We're like, I know a lot of
people listen to like rap music or clench music, which is not a
bad thing during your workout. I listen, I'm a big podcast guy.
So I will listen to, I will listen to a Christian podcast
during my workout. And sometimes everyone's like,
if there's, if I'm with a group of people, it's a little bit
different, you know, like, Hey, be quiet.
Let's lean into this podcast. But like, it's a big time.
I get a time to like listen to apodcast from workout in a little

(12:10):
bit. So I get to kind of take my time
and kind of take the thoughts and run into my head and kind of
put them before the Lord and just kind of wait for an answer
during those workouts. So a big part of that is just
kind of taking care of myself physically too, because if I'm
not like present physically throughout the day, I won't be
able to have enough time and energy to hang out with youth
students, do my job at my work. More long lines of hanging out
with my family again, my both mykids are below too.

(12:31):
So like getting on the ground and playing with them and
picking up toys and being present like I wanted to be all
of those things. So as long as I keep God in the
middle of that and also try to be present in my physical
fitness, to do those things, to be present everywhere else,
that's where I find God the mostin those workouts.
It's so good, it's so good. So there's a couple things you
said I want to chase down, but but first, like I like what

(12:52):
you're saying. We have so much input in our
lives right now and, and we haveso much access to great teaching
and great music and you know, all these things, but we have
very little time for process andwe can get burnt out with
information and good ideas and great teaching to the point that
we never actually process it. And so I feel like with Psalm

(13:16):
404610, you know, it says be still and know that I am God.
And, and that's something that Ifelt like God gave me this fresh
eyes on this scripture a few years ago and it hit me.
It was like, yes, yes, be still and commit, confess, know that I
am God. But what if we kind of read it
like be still, and then you'll know that I am God, you know,

(13:39):
Because when we get still, there's a process.
And what I love about what you're saying is being still
isn't always physical, right? We can be still.
We can be seated on the inside when we're running on the
outside. We can be still before the Lord
in process while we're moving and working, and sometimes even

(13:59):
more so because of the science behind it, right?
The the adrenaline, the dopamine, you know, all the
things that come. We're more open to that.
But it is a beautiful time. I agree with that.
It's a great process time to break some of that down and the
Lord will speak to us if we're open to that.
You know, the other thing that Ilove that you said is if we are

(14:21):
staying physically fit and it doesn't mean CrossFit for
everybody, right? I mean that.
So my, my story with Trinity Fitness is I found it when we
moved here, We've been here 11 years and I was like, babe,
we're going to this gym. It's a Christian gym.
And, and, and I had, I knew thisis where we're going and a lot
of people I met went there. And so I take him.

(14:42):
Well, most of you know, I alwayssay my husband's the tall person
in the parking lot. Tim is 65 and 200 lbs and I am
52 and maybe 100 lbs. And we go to this gym.
We go to this gym and they do intense work and then they're
doing partner work. So Tim and I decide to work

(15:03):
together. Well, then we're in the back of
the parking lot and I am pushinghim on a sled.
Like, you know, the football sled thing.
Like, you see, I'm the biggest loser that used to be on and
they're all going, you don't have to do this.
I'm like, I'm going to do this. Yeah, yeah.
My, my cortisol level was so high and so intense.
I'm like, this is not my type ofworkout, 'cause I can't, I
can't, I can't handle it. But he's been going faithfully

(15:27):
ever since. That's been awesome.
But know that when we say physically fit, yeah.
Keep moving. Find joy in movement, find joy
in soaking in the sunshine and and taking care of your body.
So I'd love to have you lean in a little bit more to how
physical fitness helps us walk out.

(15:49):
The call that God has in our life.
That's important. Yeah, man, I think one of the
biggest things I can boil it down to is community.
I don't know a lot of people whogenuinely work out by themselves
that are, I don't want to say healthy because I do have
friends who work out alone, but a majority of people that I know
or a bunch of fitness classes, like even like Trinity Fitness.

(16:11):
It's a it's a group effort. And the one thing that I love
about it is that you're, you're running together and it's very
similar. Again, it's very cliche, true on
a Christian podcast, but it's the same thing with our
Christian walk is you can't do it alone.
So let me give an example. So I just turned 30, the big
three O this past September and for my birthday, six of my best

(16:32):
friends when I was still in Houston, we had the first ever
annual Broyles backyard beat down.
Here's what this was. It sounds crazy.
Here's what it was It's months beforehand I planned out this
workout and it was 6 hours long and it was about 15 miles of
work. So we met at my house at 4:30.
AMI had pull up bars, all my stuff in my garage out.

(16:56):
We did like a big debrief at 4:45 and then 5:00 AM sharp we
hit the road. So it was a 14 station workout
that lasted almost 7 hours. You cut it, it was about 6 1/2,
almost 7 hours long and but it was a non-stop.
So it was almost like almost like a boot camp Navy SEAL type
workout. But the reason I want to do this
is 1, I've wanted to do it for so long because like my brain

(17:18):
works like that. And that was fun to me planning
that out and doing a six hour long workout.
But 2, I did it with six of my best friends.
So yes, it was miserable. And like one of my friends even
at one point almost started tearing up because part of the
workout we did a ruck, A ruck. It's like a military term, but
you put like a heavy sandbag on your back and you just walk.
So we had 50 LB sandbags in our backpacks and we walked 10

(17:40):
miles. It was like one of the last
things we did. So like halfway through my
buddies just like almost tearingup.
He's like, he's like, dude, thisis not fun.
Like what are we doing? I'm like, this is the best day
of my life. But we got through it together.
And so many workout classes I'vebeen a part of and that's why I
fell in love with the CrossFit community is because you can
come in as a janitor or ACEO andyou're in baggy workout shorts

(18:01):
with dirty shoes and you're working out for the common
purpose to get better. Like no matter what your status
is, what your money holds, what you've been through that day,
it's like, hey, let's put everything else aside.
Let's do this workout. Let's get better here and
physically. And then afterwards we'll talk
about it. So after that workout, we
DoorDash like 15 Jersey Mike's sub sandwiches and we hung out
my garage like two more hours just talking about the day, our

(18:24):
highs and lows from the week. Like it was such a communal
thing. And that's one of the biggest
things about the fitness community because like, for
example, like my mom loves to walk.
My mom's not going to do CrossFit, but my mom has a group
of ladies and she likes to walk with the park and they talk
about life the whole time, but they're also walking like a
couple miles at a time for a common purpose to get better
here and here, you know, So that's one of my biggest things

(18:45):
about the about just the physical community is there is
community behind it. And that needs to be modeled in
the local church as well, to show people that the church and
the gym can do the same thing for the common purpose, if that
if all that makes sense. Oh, oh, it's, it's perfect.
I love it because you're actually, you're touching on
one, the whole aspect of we're talking about getting fit in

(19:07):
2026, the three different ways, right.
And you, like you just said, yes, your passion is the
physical area, but it connects to community and it connects to
faith in so many ways. And this is something that I
think is underestimated, you know, but we think about the
Trinity, God in three persons and the mind, body, spirit is
also like that one always affects the other always, you

(19:29):
know, and that and for me, depression and anxiety are huge
parts of my story. And so that physical workout,
whether it is so for so for me, I do spin and yoga and some
Zumba and those are my favorites.
And that exertion kind of gets some of that out.
But then also just walking, I love to walk and the sun and The

(19:53):
Walking and the processing and the fresh air, all of that, the
way that the physical fitness, the physical exertion of your
body connects to mental clarity and mental health.
And then that spiritual health, you're so much more able to hear
from the Lord when some of that is just out of you, you know, in

(20:16):
a way. And it's, it's beautiful.
So how does the? Lack of physical fitness
negatively impact someone's ability to walk out the call
that God has in their life. Yeah, I think overall, and
again, this is where, again, they can get legalistic pretty
quickly. So I just want to be clear when
I think this is that man like like the Holy Spirit and dwells

(20:36):
in us. So like what we put in our body
is, is an honoring to God. So like, you know, like
overeating, gluttony is a sin. And I'm not saying if you have a
weight issue or you have a thyroid issue that you're living
in blatant sin, right. Again, I've seen that throughout
my life, but man, how cool is itthat that God gave us a body and
right, we're all maintenance image and no one is alike.
You have a unique body that fitsyou perfectly and how cool is it

(20:58):
that you are able to take control of that physically and
to see the fullness that God's given you that this out of
heaven. So me and we should be wanting
to, you know, maybe not again, hear me out.
McDonald's is my favorite fast food restaurant.
I believe that Doctor Pepper will flow from the nectars in
heaven, right? Right.
You might be on the milk and honey side.
I want to be on the Mcdouble andDoctor Pepper side, right?

(21:19):
I don't know. So I'm all about eating every
now and then, write some rough stuff.
But man, I want to take care of my body as long as I can because
I know the Lord's called me to do ministry and because I said
yes, the Lord, I don't retire when I'm 60 and stop presenting
the gospel to people like man, like I'm like, I'm a lifelong
believer. So if I can do whatever I can to
stay healthy, just to knock on doors to help us service

(21:39):
projects at the church, to hang out with young people or people
that are a little bit older thanme in the future.
If, if you know, God forbid it, like a hurricane comes through
and like people need like help cutting down trees.
I want to be able to be there and help healthy spirit to be
able to knock out some tree worktoo.
And I think it's also important just to show that your kids live
a healthy lifestyle because statistics show that if you're

(22:00):
physically healthy, man, your mental clarity is better.
You live a little bit longer. Like all these other things come
into it mentally as well, if your physical side's good.
And not to mention, like man, eating healthier is just better
for sleep and for rest and for reproducing.
And it even, I mean, I've, I've coached people before who've had
type 2 diabetes and they've taken their fitness super

(22:20):
serious in the next two or threeyears, they're off all insulin.
Their lives have been radically changed through, yes, prayer and
biblical wisdom, but also because they just changed their
lifestyle. And you can just see so much
clarity come through people's life once they started to put
like fitness 1st. And, and like we mentioned a
month ago, like you don't have to join a CrossFit gym or be a
Navy SEAL, you know, but man, ifyou can just casual take out

(22:41):
some sugar here and there and replace with a few other things
and just go on a casual walk here and there, man, you would
be blown away by the mental clarity you starting to see in
your own life. So good, so good.
Preach it, preach it. This makes me so happy.
I love this man. What about, I mean, I feel like

(23:02):
you already said it. I was going to ask you what
about the advice for like the anti workout people you know in
the crowd who who doesn't even know where to start, But I kind
of feel like you said. That, I mean, I would say this,
Patrick Lincione, he's a big leadership coach.
He says this. He says if you want to go fast,
go alone, but if you want to go far, go together.
So if you're like, listen, I'm not going to work out like I'm

(23:23):
not going to buy mats and put itin my garage.
I'm not going to do those things.
Yeah, hey, that's OK. I've slowly over the past few
years, even before I got marriedI was going to spend more of my
money on dumb stuff like workoutequipment for my garage.
But man, get a group of friends who you think are better than
you. Like everyone I've always worked
out with has always been years ahead of me so finds when that
kind of knows what they're doing, like when it comes to

(23:43):
fitness and just ask them a few questions.
If you're trying to start somewhere today man, it is easy
to walk down the road and I'm not telling you to walk a mile.
Walk for 10 minutes, put on a timer on your phone, play a
worship song or two, walk Vince backing down to your house, have
a glass of water. Boom, day one.
That's awesome. Like you don't need these giant
milestones, man. It is small steps, just like

(24:03):
when you're pursuing the Lord, it's just small steps day by
day. So again, if you want to go far,
man, go with some people, find people at your church, start a
start a small group that and just you guys can do a run club
or a walk club, like get people around you who want to do this
as well. Get the word out and just do it
together. Yeah, yeah, absolutely.
And I'm really hoping like I cansee you gathering some youth

(24:26):
workout time and setting them through some of this stuff.
But I also, I, I hope to see youdoing some of this with all the
people of Rock Harbor, you know, will have some events.
I'm hoping that throughout the year, as one thread, one leg of
this getting fit, we'll have some events that people can join
where we have different people leading different types of
workouts, where we're gathering as a church family.

(24:47):
And this is the focus for this turn, you know, because it's
important to be fit in all areas, you know, I love that.
So it sounds like your boys fromTexas, they're going to have to
make an annual trip to Florida now.
So it's actually funny. We're in a group chat and I
texted them probably when we first moved to the second day we
moved to, I was like, hey guys, put in your calendars 2026 the
world's backyard beat down is inMelbourne, FL blah blah.

(25:09):
Here's the location. And the time kind of is like a
joke, but like like I'm doing itagain this year.
So like saying like a few of them texts back and they were
like, ha ha, you like you're kidding, right?
And I'm like, this is real life. So, yeah, I mean, I've been here
a few weeks, but I've already, I've already talked to a few
people, like a few of our youth leaders who were like, OK, I
can, maybe I could, OK. Yeah.
Oh, yeah. I, I can, I can think of some

(25:30):
good candidates for you. My daughter is actually applying
to the Naval Academy, and so that's her number one choice.
So she's a junior, so she's halfwith her junior.
So it's very close. She's got less than a year now
to get all her physical things ticked, so she's definitely
going to need to be in boot camp.
Broil. This is awesome and you just
wait till your buddies get that same workout on the beach in the

(25:51):
sand. Exactly, Yeah.
Right. So cool, so cool.
All right. So as we wrap up, is there
anything else that we didn't approach or discuss about
fitness and physical area that you wanted to?
Man, I, I think you hit on all of it.
I mean, and here's the thing too, is like, like I have some
coaching experience, like I havea certificate and, and like like
and a license or two. But man, if I could start my

(26:11):
entire fitness journey over again, I would not change a
single thing. I would not change a single
thing except I would have gottento a bigger community sooner.
Man, I have like like there's been times where like like I
have tried to compete and I've done a few local competitions
and like I've done more than other people would have done.
But even now, like I'm at 30 andI don't think I'm like at my my

(26:31):
quote UN quote prime. Not that I'm training for
anything anymore, but I'm not even at my prime physical wise.
But my workouts now are different.
So like the other day I'll give an example.
Like I had my I had my 2 year old son in my arms and dropped
his pacifier and I was able to easily do a lunge, pick it up
and right back in his mouth. Didn't think about it.
And I'm like, wait a second, That's that's a weighted lunge

(26:52):
with a weight on my back. Like this is so cool.
I have another opportunity to explain next to my coach how
people like, hey, like if you'vegot small kids and they drop a
water bottle, you're going to put your kids down.
They run down the aisle, you getthe water bottle, your knees are
cracking, man. You can train all of this.
Like there's even this super youprobably seen them for there is
this really like intimate sad Christmas commercial that comes
on Christmas time. And it's his grandpa.

(27:13):
Have you seen him? He's in his garage, he's raising
up a kettlebell like over and over.
I haven't seen it. And it's because on on the
Christmas Eve he picks up his like 3 year old grandson.
Oh. What a great.
He puts the tree or the star on top of the tree.
So it was like, I think it's probably like a Nike.
I don't remember. But I was like watching it and I
was like a big fitness guy. I was in college and I'm like,
oh, This is why we do it. And all my friends are like,

(27:37):
what is wrong with you? But it's, it's small things like
that, like man, it's, it's so cool.
Oh, I love that. It cracks me.
It kind of remind me. So when Michaela was born, do
you remember the Nintendo Wii's?Oh yeah.
I had gotten a Wii because I like to have like some fun
fitness going on. And I was by myself and I had
this brand new baby. So I was doing sit ups with her
on my chest. And then you could do the hula

(27:58):
hoop on the Wii fitness and I'm holding her in hula hoop.
And I remember because you're right, you know, you're right.
So it doesn't have to be your life.
And then this it can be intertwined in your life.
And that is exactly what the walk with the Lord is.
It doesn't it doesn't need to beit should not be a separate
thing off over here that you have to do this extra time for

(28:21):
now. You should have some extra time
each day with the Lord. It would be really great, but it
should be seamlessly intertwinedin their life.
And you know, and like you're saying same thing, fitness in
the physical sense, fitness in the faith sense, growing in how
to do workouts, growing in how to spend time with the Lord.
Just show up. Yeah, just show up.
Yeah, just keep showing up. You know, All right, awesome.

(28:42):
This has been really great. And I really, I'm excited
because I know you have real life and I'm going to get to
know you more and more. I think I'm going to be kind of
like a big sis and that this is really fun.
If you'll if you'll allow me a much older sister.
So let me ask you a few questions.
I wrap up every episode of this podcast for gosh, it'll be 6

(29:03):
years that I've been doing Yeah,it's been it's been a blast.
It's been a blast. But my follow up questions that
I ask everybody one Do you have a life verse or a verse that is
really bringing you life right now?
A. Life verse.
I mean, I feel like you're through so many seasons, right
of life verses, man, Honestly, Ithink I would always stick with

(29:28):
Philippians 127. Let your manner of life be
worthy of the gospel. And that's just in short.
And Paul continues on that verse27 and he says, whether I come
and see you again or I'm absent, like I want to make sure you're
doing what's right. And what Paul's saying in
Philippians 127, always let yourlife be a manner worthy of the
gospel, that man, we're not justcalled to walk it out

(29:50):
spiritually on a Sunday, but like every day of the week,
people should look at our lives and they we should reflect what
the Lord has done in our lives. So whether that be showing up at
the gym for the first time or helping your elderly neighbor
take out the trash because they physically can't walk, man, no
matter what it is where you're at, you're always walking out
the gospel. So I'd probably say Philippians
127. It's just like a constant
reminder of always doing the right thing.

(30:11):
Yeah. Oh, that's good.
That's really good. Yeah.
All right, So what is 1 simple or practical tip that you can
give our listeners about how to seamlessly intertwine their walk
of the Lord and just everyday life?
Yeah, I mean, for a big thing for me is I remember I tore my
ACL in 2017 playing to pick up basketball in college my

(30:34):
freshman year, which whatever sodumb that I did that and I
couldn't work out for the like, it was like 4 or five months.
But what I would do to get better is I would get on a
treadmill at my school doing some rehab and I would read my
my devotionals on my phone. So like I would read it so you
could read and do that. So if you're wanting to kind of
intertwine both, man, find some find some good worship music

(30:56):
that if you're like me, like I'ma big singer.
My wife is an incredible, one ofthe best female vocals I've ever
heard in my life. Yeah.
So I am not the best. Like if the whole worship team
was sick, they'd be like, hey, Josh, could you come up on stage
for a few minutes like that, like that?
That's me. But if you're like me and you're
a big singer with headphones on,dude, find some really good

(31:17):
worship songs, work out in your garage or walk in the street or
go running and you can sing then.
I mean, there you go. Now you've got worship and
working out of the way for the day.
You can play a podcast in your ears while you're walking or
working out. You can, man.
And if you even you're like, hey, like my, my spiritual life
is good. How do I work out?
I mean, if you just Google, hey,10 minute workouts, you can do
this. I mean, there's like for the

(31:39):
ladies listening or the men likeyou, there's 10 minute Pilate
classes on YouTube that are freeyoga classes.
You can, I mean, if you have chat, you BT say, hey, I've got
10 minutes. Can you give me a simple
workout? And so it's right there.
So don't let the excuse be, I don't know how to work out.
You can really say, hey, I've got no equipment.
I've got 10 minutes. Can you write me up something
really quick? You would be blown away by what

(32:00):
you could do, yeah. No, that's really good.
It those are some ways really that technology now.
Yeah. Some things about technology
drive me crazy. Some things it's really amazing.
You know what, what you can do with it now.
So there's no excuses, you know.Part of me is like, oh man, like
like they might put coaches out of a job for writing workouts,
like but whatever it's. Fun.
I know, I know, I know. That's Yeah.

(32:22):
Don't even get me started on allthe things I'm a Actually, I
told him one day I was like, what are we gonna do?
I mean, it's literally taking over.
And no one will be writing booksor preaching, like sermons that
they actually came up with with the Lord.
Like everything's gonna like go to these robots.
It's like, what's gonna happen? And he's like, Jesus will come
back. You're right.

(32:43):
He's like. I'll come back.
I don't know. I'm like, well, you're, you're
correct about that. So it's all good.
But, you know, interesting times.
All right. So how can my people find you
and how can our church family connect to you?
Or if anybody's listening, they're like, I need to connect
with this dude. Oh yeah, you can find me I'm I'm
a big Instagram guy my Instagramhandle because I made it when I
was younger is J weezy 27. So it's JWEEZ Y-27.

(33:08):
If you need to reach me man my new e-mail because I actually
still don't know it just yet. Oh.
I know it for you. Yeah, my e-mail here at the
church is Josh at rhfl.org. So those are two ways you can
easily find me. All right, awesome.
Well, I'm super excited to continue getting to know you and

(33:29):
to see you pouring into the lifeof our church family at Rock
Harbor. We are blessed and honored to
have you and thank you for taking the time to do this
today. Yeah, absolutely.
