(00:04):
Welcome to the Intertwined Life podcast.
I'm your host, Jenny Zenz. I am a wife and a mom on a
mission. I've got a passion to help women
discover practical ways to applythe power of God's word to our
everyday stuff. I truly believe that our walks
with the Lord should be seamlessly intertwined with our
everyday lives. It should affect every move we
(00:25):
make and every breath we take. So come on, let's do life
together. You've got this because he's got
you. Hey friends, welcome to this
episode of the Intertwined Life podcast.
I am so glad that you are here. I am really looking forward to
jumping into just a little bit of a refresh for the podcast, so
(00:47):
to speak. You might see some new pictures,
some new images, a little bit offresh look on the website as we
continue to go along and just free the little new life.
It has been over 6, almost 6 1/2years that we've been doing this
show. I feel like together and I'm so
thankful for it and I love doingit, but I definitely do not want
it to get stale. I want you guys to feel
(01:08):
refreshed and invigorated and like you're getting fresh new
content that is very relative toeveryday life, but is helping
you to combine your faith and walk in the power of the Spirit
of God that he has placed insideof each of us that call Him
Lord. So we are here.
We are going to keep rocking it out.
We've got some some great interviews coming your way.
(01:29):
Actually, June 2nd, I'm going todrop a wonderful interview I had
with a trauma informed therapist.
And it is going to be really eyeopening regardless of whether or
not you think you've experiencedtrauma or that's part of your
story. And even if it's not, it's going
to really help you see others well and love others well.
So I know you're going to enjoy that.
I look forward to having you there.
(01:51):
But until then, I was recently at a women's conference.
I had the privilege of speaking a couple weeks ago for the
woman's retreat for Lineage Church.
Shout out to Lineage Church in Cocoa, FL.
And one of the ladies actually told me the next morning that
she had gone back and was listening to the podcast and she
was listening to episode 5. And I thought, you know, this is
(02:14):
right now we're recording I think 138.
So I'm thinking, what, what was episode 5?
I do not remember. And she seemed to find some
encouragement from it and enjoyed it.
So I went back and I listened toit again.
And it was actually an episode that I recorded about
maintaining our faith in the midst of the chaos.
And I recorded it in March of 2020, just as COVID was
(02:35):
beginning to shut down the worldas we knew it.
And there was so much in there that without COVID was still so
powerful for how to maintain ourfaith in the midst of crazy
times, in the midst of hard times.
And so I do not want to lose that one to the archives or to
(02:57):
have it be lost because it's tooCOVID specific.
So I went in, I took that episode.
I edited out the really, really COVID exact stuff and all of the
really dated stuff because I wanted to bring you the
scripture and the truth in this episode.
Get your bibles. There are so many scriptures
referenced in this episode. I've actually broken it into two
(03:18):
parts. So the next one will be coming
out soon. But for now, I hope that you
will really heal the Lord speaking directly to your heart
and your situation, wherever youare right now.
And in addition to that, can I ask a little favor?
So the, as I said, 6 1/2 years we've been going strong in the
podcast. Love doing it, ready to kind of
breathe some new life and some fresh life into a few aspects of
(03:41):
it. But one thing that would really,
really help if you are an Apple podcast listener and you have
never left a review. I think currently I am at 88
reviews and 99.9% of those are five star.
Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you so much.
If you have never done that and you would be willing, just
(04:03):
really quickly going to the showpage on Apple Podcasts,
scrolling down and tapping preferably those five stars.
And I would love to get over that milestone of 100 reviews.
When you do, it changes how the podcast shows up in Apple
Podcasts, the attention it gets, the promotion it gets, and all
of that. And it just is a great way to
help more people find it. So I would be honored and
(04:24):
thrilled if you would take a second to tap those five stars
for me so that we can keep encouraging others to find
practical ways to apply the power of God's Word to their
everyday stuff. All right, guys, I am so
thankful for you. I'm glad that you're here.
Whether this is your first episode with me or your 138th
episode with me, I am confident that not my words, but the words
(04:49):
of the Lord that you're going tobe hearing in this episode are
going to encourage you, strengthen you, and fan that
flame of faith in you so that you can continue to walk strong
in the midst of no matter what, knowing that God is in control.
He has great plans, and you got this because He's got you.
(05:10):
All right. Enjoy this little flashback,
friends. This is a crazy time we're in
right now, and I want us to divedeep together, see what we can
find. This podcast is all about
finding practical ways to apply the power of God's Word to our
everyday stuff. And that doesn't just mean
dishes and laundry. It means fear.
(05:30):
It means chaos. It means how to model our faith
for our kids and how to hold it together when everything around
us is falling apart. Sometimes we have to stand on
what we know regardless of how we feel.
That is a tagline that you are going to hear me say many, many,
many, many, many times on the podcast.
And many of my friends who have listened to me teach or speak or
(05:55):
share, they have heard me say that so many times.
It's one of my things on the Lord gave me that a few years
ago. And like I said, my mess is my
message. Everything I share comes from my
own issues sitting with the Lordand just being like, help, help,
help. And he just gives me these
little things. And it often comes in these
little sound bites that help me,that I try to share because I
(06:16):
figure if I need it, somebody else can use it.
So a big one for me is sometimeswe have to stand on what we
know, regardless of how we feel. And we're going to look into
that a little bit today because the fact is, fear is one of
Satan's greatest tactics. But yeah, Jesus tells us, do not
fear. Do not let your heart be
(06:38):
troubled. Let me read right now, Isaiah
4110. This is one of my very, very
favorite scripture. And you're going to hear me
flipping around a lot during this episode because the fact
is, I have notes all over the place.
This episode is kind of coming together in real time, so to
speak, because there's so much on my heart and my mind.
(07:01):
And even though I may not feel completely prepared to hit
record today, the fact is it's needed.
And so we're just going to have a chat.
I hope you'll hang in here with me and that this will not be too
disjointed for you. But we're going to, we're going
to find some good stuff here together.
So grab a cup of coffee, tea, water, whatever it is, and just
(07:22):
maybe even grab your Bible and let's go through this together.
Let's strengthen each other and let's dig into the word, right?
Let's dig into the word. I want you to think about the
word sayla. Oftentimes you're reading in
Psalms and you see the word sayla.
And a lot of times we just go onor we just think it's a music
group and we don't really give much thought to that.
But that word sayla means pause and calmly think about that.
(07:46):
And my question for you is, in the midst of this crazy right
now, have you taken time to sayla?
I don't know that I'm really using that in the proper, you
know, grammatical tense. But there's so much information
coming at you, so many warnings coming at you, so many opinions
(08:07):
coming at you. And the enemy wants to crowd
your mind and your heart with all these things that well, this
is fact. This is fact.
This is the here and now. The the real truth is the things
of this world are not near as true and as powerful as the
things of the spirit, because God is the beginning and the end
(08:28):
of all things. We are a spirit created in the
image of the Almighty God. We live in this body on this
earth for a little while and we have a soul which are our mind,
our will, and our emotions. And while our emotions can be
good and helpful, they can also run off crazy.
And so that's when we have to use our spirit to stand on what
we know, regardless of how we feel.
(08:50):
So we're going to dig into the Word.
Let's find some good stuff. But I want to encourage you, if
you have not in the midst of this last week or two of all
this going around, ask yourself, have you stopped, looked at the
Word, spent time with the Lord and paused and calmly thought
about what He has to say in thistime?
If you haven't, please do go fora walk, whatever it is, sit
(09:11):
alone with the Lord. Take a deep breath, let His word
speak into your heart and into your mind more than the news
channel and the social media feeds and all of that.
Put Him first, OK? Yes, yes, yes.
Be wise. Gather the information you need,
but please, please, please do not forsake the strengthening of
(09:32):
your soul and the strengthening of your spirit and the adding to
your faith. OK, so Isaiah 4110, I'm going to
give you tons of scripture during this episode and every
episode has lots of scripture. And if you click on the show
notes, I will always put up a blog post where you can link to
every single scripture that is referenced in each episode.
(09:54):
So you can kind of do your own Bible study.
So if you are feeling like I don't even know where to turn
right now, I want to spend time with the Lord, but my mind's
crazy, go over to jennyzents.com/podcast or click
on the show notes here. Every episode is going to have
just the links to the scripture references.
Take your Bible, pull those up and just go through them.
Just go through them. It's the Word of God.
(10:15):
It's more powerful than anythingI'm going to say here, but let's
look at this, Isaiah 4110. I'm using the Amplified classic
version of the Bible. I enjoy using Amplified a lot.
It has a lot more words because it expounds on the original
Greek and Hebrew text to give usa little bit fuller
understanding of what the authorwas saying.
So Isaiah 4110, fear not, there is nothing to fear for I am with
(10:36):
you. Do not look around you in terror
and be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and hardenyou to difficulties.
Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will hold you up and
retain you with my victorious right hand of righteousness and
justice. And actually if you look at
(10:59):
verse 13, it says for I the Lordyour God, hold your right hand.
I am the Lord who says to you, fear not, I will help you if you
get nothing else from this episode right there.
Take those verses, write them onnote cards.
Put them around your house. Read them to your children.
If you stick a note card next toyour coffee pot and one next to
(11:21):
your toothbrush and you just read it every time you see it,
you're probably going to do thatthree to four times a day
anyway. You will accidentally memorize
these verses and the word planted in your heart takes
root. And then not only does it
strengthen you, but it comes outliving water and splashes onto
those around you. It will make a powerful,
powerful difference in your home.
(11:43):
And actually, I wasn't even planning on sharing this next
verse when we talk about claiming the word of God over
our homes. Let me flip over here.
I know it is in Psalms I haven'tmemorized, but I want to be sure
I give you the reference. Psalm 100 something.
Let's look this up. It is an incredible verse.
It's when I love to speak over my home.
(12:04):
It says he who works deceit shall not dwell in my house.
And he who speaks lies shall notcontinue in my presence.
And it kind of helps if you like, snap your fingers and get
an attitude when you say that. Speak that out.
Speak that out over your home right now.
Speak that out over your life. Speak that out over your
children. Claim that victory.
(12:25):
He who tells lies shall not continue in my presence.
He who works deceit shall not dwell on my house.
I am having trouble in this exact instance, finding that
scripture for you. I know it's Psalm 100 something,
so I will link to that in the show notes, but I don't want to
keep you on here forever as I flip, flip, flip.
Oh, found it. Psalm 1017.
(12:46):
Psalm 1017. All right, so that's another
tool you can be using. Let's talk about the heroes of
our faith. How did they maintain that faith
in the midst of crazy when facing terrible odds?
And we're talking about a fiery furnace warrior, giants
(13:07):
attacking lions and bears, shipwrecks, imprisonment,
execution. But how did they stand firm?
The fact is they reasoned that God is able and so my question
for you today is, have you reasoned that He is able?
(13:32):
Let's look at Luke 647 through 49.
Jesus says for everyone who comes to me and listens to my
words in order to heed their teaching and does them, I will
show you what He is like. He is like a man building a
house who dug and went down deepand laid a foundation upon the
rock, and when the flood arose, the torrent broke against that
(13:56):
house, and could not shake, shake it or move it, because it
had been securely built or founded on a rock.
But he who merely hears and doesnot practice doing my words is
like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation
against which the torrent burst and immediately it collapsed and
(14:16):
fell, and the breaking and ruin of that house was great.
Have you built your house on a rock?
Have you built your faith on therock?
So that when these crazy times come and beat against them
doesn't mean you're not going toget beat around?
Both these places got beat around.
Both of them sustained some damage, I'm sure.
(14:41):
But you can be dented and you can be bruised, and you can be
struck down but not destroyed. What's your faith built on?
What's your home built on? Look at Colossians 2, six
through 7. As you therefore have received
Christ, even Jesus the Lord. So walk, regulate your lives,
(15:02):
and conduct yourselves in union with and conformity to Him.
Have the roots of your being firmly and deeply planted in
Him, fixed on the found, fixed and founded in Him, being
continually built up in Him, becoming increasingly more
confident, confirmed and established in the faith just as
(15:22):
you were taught, and abounding and overflowing in it with
Thanksgiving. 2nd Thessalonians 3.
Three. Yet the Lord is faithful.
He will strengthen you and set you on a firm foundation and
guard you from the evil. 1 Does this mean we will never have
trouble? No.
(15:43):
Jesus told us in John 1633 in this world you will have
trouble. He was very clear about that and
he was talking to believers. He says.
But take heart, I have overcome this world and robbed it of its
power to harm you. Does that mean nothing bad will
happen to us? No, but that's just it.
This world is temporary. These bodies are temporary.
(16:05):
The things we suffer here are temporary.
They're not really the be all end all.
He is saying it may touch your body, it may touch your things,
it may touch your earthly life, but in the things that really,
really last in your spirit that is made for eternity, nothing
can take that away. So stand firm on Him and build
(16:28):
your faith on Him. Let's go to looking at Abraham,
Romans 418 through 21 in hope. He, Abraham, believed against
hope that he should become the father of many nations, as he
had been told. So shall your offspring be.
He did not weaken in faith when he considered his own body,
(16:50):
which was as good as dead since he was about 100 years old, and
when he considered the barrenness of Sarah's womb.
No unbelief made him waver concerning the promise of God.
But he grew strong in his faith, and he gave glory to God, fully
convinced that God was able to do what He had promised.
And let's look at Hebrews 11/17 through 19.
(17:13):
By faith. Abraham, when he was put to the
test while the testing of his faith was still in progress, had
already brought Isaac for an offering.
He who had gladly received and welcome got welcomed.
God's promises was ready to sacrifice his only Son, of whom,
it was said, through Isaac. Shall your descendants be
reckoned for? He reasoned that God was able to
(17:36):
raise him up even from among thedead.
And let's look at Moses when he has been used by God to lead the
Hebrew children out of slavery, out of Egypt, and they are
fleeing. Well, Pharaoh's army is coming
up behind them, and they get to the edge of the Red Sea and
they've got an ocean in front ofthem and an army behind them.
(17:57):
And they turn to Moses and they're saying, dude, we told
you to leave us there. Was it just because there were
not enough graves in Egypt that you decided to bring us out here
so we would die in the wilderness?
It would have been better if we had served the Egyptians as
their slaves than to come out here and die.
They forgot what God had been delivering them from.
And then in Exodus 14 verse 13, Moses told the people, fear not,
(18:23):
stand firm, confident, undismayed, and see the
salvation of the Lord, which he will work for you today.
For the Egyptians you have seen today you shall never see again.
The Lord will fight for you and you shall hold your peace and
remain at rest. And we just go into one more
(18:44):
thing. If you look at verse 16, the
Lord tells Moses to lift up his rod and stretch out his hand
over the sea and divide it, and the Israelites shall go on dry
ground through the midst of the sea.
There are these little bitty things in the Scripture that
unless we take the time to read and actually study and actually
spend time one-on-one quietly alone with the Lord, that we
(19:08):
miss. Let me tell you that when I read
that and that dry ground jumped out at me, God did not have to
send them through on dry ground. That ground had been covered
with the sea, people. I mean, I live at the beach.
And I can only imagine that if if the water should part, I
(19:28):
would expect that bottom to be alittle murky and mucky and
slimy. And the sand here on Florida's
Space Coast is very sticky. Yeah, I can only imagine.
But no, they didn't just walk. He didn't just park the sea.
They walked on dry ground. That right there tells me that
(19:48):
our God is not a God of just enough.
He is a God of more than enough.Ephesians 320 tells us that He
is able to do super abundantly, far and above all that we could
dare to think, hope for, or imagine.
That is the God we serve. So I ask you again, have you
reasoned that He is able? Let's look at the Hebrew
(20:12):
children Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.
In Daniel chapter 3, when King Nebuchadnezzar, he had erected
the statue and he said when you hear the horns and the loot and
all the instruments, then you will bow down to the statue of
me. And these three guys who had
actually been put in position ofleadership, they refused to bow
(20:33):
down. And the King's like, what?
No, you didn't. And he told them, I have already
said that anyone who does not bow down to the statue that I
have made will be thrown into a fiery furnace.
And I'm going to give you one more chance.
Who do you think this God is? Who do you think that there is a
God who could save you from my hand?
(20:55):
And they looked back at him and they said, you know what?
We don't even really have to answer you on this.
We know that our God is able to deliver us from your hand, but
even if he chooses not to be it known, O King, we are not going
to be bowing down to you. That is standing on what you
know, regardless of how you feel.
(21:16):
I cannot imagine what they were going through, but they knew
their God was able. And to get to that point in our
faith where we can say even if, even if, even if the worst
happens, I'm going to serve you,Lord, because I know whom I have
(21:36):
believed. Let's, let's look ahead.
I say look ahead because I got afew notes here and this wasn't
coming up yet, but I want to look at Second Timothy chapter
1, verses 11 and 12. And like I said, I'm kind of
flipping with you here. We're just going to flow through
these notes as they come out of my mouth.
(21:58):
But this is Paul talking, and heis saying that he has suffered
already for the gospel, for the fact that he is out there
sharing the gospel of Christ, which is going against the
Jewish laws of the day. And so he's been suffering, he's
been imprisoned, he's been beaten, all these things, and
this is what he has to say. Second Timothy, chapter 1,
(22:24):
verses 11 and 12, verse 12, he says, And This is why I am
suffering as I do for all these things, for proclaiming the
gospel. Still I am not ashamed, for I
know I've perceived, have knowledge of, and am acquainted
with him whom I have believed. And I am positively persuaded
(22:46):
that He is able to guard and keep that which I have entrusted
to him. Until that day, he did not say I
know who I have believed in or Iknow about him.
I know him. That is what he's saying.
There is a difference between knowing about someone and
(23:09):
knowing someone. You see, if when Tim and I met,
if I just knew what people told me about him, I might think, oh,
you know, he's a nice guy, but Iwould never have gotten to
actually know him and then I would never, never have actually
fallen in love with him. It is the same thing with our
faith. We can know about God.
(23:30):
We can go to Bible study, we cango to church, we can listen to
podcast, whatever it is. But until we get on our own,
one-on-one with the Lover of oursoul, place our personal faith
in Him, and then dig into His Word for our selves, we will
never know Him. And until you really know whom
(23:52):
you have believed, until you really know the one that you
believe in, you will not be ableto stand firm on these things
when everything else around you is going crazy.
Hey guys, I wanted to ask you a quick question as you're
(24:13):
listening to this episode. Has the Lord brought anyone to
your mind? Have you laid anyone on your
heart? Maybe a good friend, a neighbor,
your kids teacher, anybody that you just think, man, I wish she
could hear this. If so, would you just take a
second and hit that share button?
Yes, it's a great way to share the Intertwined Life podcast and
(24:34):
get it out there. But even more than that, it's an
opportunity for you to reach outto another sister and just say I
see you and encourage her and come alongside her and build
community because that is what this is all about.
And so if that's on your heart, take a second and do that.
That would be awesome. And maybe together we can
(24:55):
increase the impact we have on reaching more women to help them
apply the power of God's Word tojust everyday stuff.
