Speaker 1 (00:05):
You are listening to The Manning Show with You and Manning.
You're number one sports podcast starts. Now we're back. It's
been a little a little while since I last talked
to you. I want to talk to this, this podcast,
(00:27):
the show. It's been maybe half a month. This is
episode twenty four. Let me just double check that it
is episode twenty four, So obviously I've been gotten for
a while. This is episode twenty four. I've been gone
(00:48):
for a while, right, And it's not because I just
quit it because uh needed a little bit of a break,
but as well as I wanted to, I wanted to
(01:08):
come on and you know, do a once a week
type show now instead of doing it every day. I
wanted to get it back going. But if you followed
my social media at all, if you follow it at all,
I've been doing junior oilers play by play, so I
(01:29):
got a job doing that with them, and I've kind
of just been focusing on that, which obviously that's in
the playoffs now, so shout out to them. But yeah,
I've been really enjoying that and it's kind of been
hard to do both. So this we're gonna kind of
stick to audio only, doing kind of a once a
week type show just to mess around, get you know,
(01:53):
daily sports thing, because there isn't really many people. The
only reason why I do video is for people to
watch the clips, right, and it's hard to do the clips,
and you know, it's just a lot of editing on
my computer for no one to really watch the video.
So I just like do an audio. It makes a
lot a lot easier. Editing short and sweet, makes everything
(02:17):
a lot quicker. So I kind of just want to
come on here and say that. But obviously we're gonna
have a normal show. We're gonna kind of remove a
few segments. I mean, we'll have the news, we'll kind
of get into that, but we're not gonna have not
gonna have the score update. We're not gonna do that anymore.
(02:41):
I mean, it's not a daily show anymore. So we'll
kind of just get into, you know, the sports and
how it's going. But I kind of just wanted to
start it off with that because it's been a little
while since we've since I've done a show, and I
know it's it's too bad that I haven't been able to.
(03:05):
But now we're back, we're trying to do it once
a week now with a Wednesday Thursday type of thing.
So I was saying that we can get started here
starting off last night the Oilers finding a way to
absolutely smoke smoke Nashville. Didn't even stand a chance, did
(03:29):
not even stand a single chance, winning seven too over
the Capitols. The big moment of the night though, well
Zach Hamon getting the hat trick, but Connor McDavid also
getting three points. But it was the man, the mid,
the legend, Connor Brown with his two point seventy five
(03:50):
million dollar bonus next year, scoring his first goal of
the season, first goal of the season with the Oilers
have sixty four games. It took him sixty four games
and seven hundred and twenty three calendar days for Connor
(04:10):
Brown to score his first goal back right he was
out with an injury before that. Just go for all,
big day for him. I'm very happy. Standing ovation was great.
You know, he's big, big in that way, and he
(04:33):
maybe I think we've all talked about it at one point.
All the people who do podcasts are saying if he
scores one, maybe he gets on a little streak. Obviously,
the Oilers tomorrow looking into this week tomorrow, which is
Friday today. I'm recording this on Thursday, March fourteenth, Friday,
(04:56):
there's only two games, and then they play Saturday against
the Avs at eight. Then they don't play till Tuesday
against the Canadians, and then I'm just looking. Then they
don't play until Thursday against the Sabers, which is likely
when I'll record my next show or the Wednesday before that.
(05:19):
But yeah, the Edmonton Oilers looking fabulous against the Capitals.
Darcy Kemper obviously also signing the offseason the same time
that Jack Campbell was with an eight to one SA percentage.
He was not great. But Zach Hyman with the Hattie
Dry with four points, McDavid with the three points, Adam Henrik.
(05:43):
Adam Henrik got traded to the Oilers, maybe if you
don't know that, but he did, and he scored his
first points because we didn't cover that. Bouchard with two points, right,
So overall, just a solid, solid night for the I mean,
Corey Perry doesn't end up getting a point, which is
kind of surprising because normally he gets on the board
(06:07):
with a goal or an assist or something. But just
a great night for the Mson Oilers and they put
a lot of pucks in past Darcy Kemper with at
home and just a fun night. I mean, Oilers. It
was a close game too too, and then they just
took off and ended up finding a way to keep
(06:28):
putting it past Kemper. Wild But in terms of how
everything's looking in the NHL, McDavid one point back at Kouchurov,
nine points back on McKinnon right now, which is crazy
(06:51):
considering he was twenty points back not too long ago.
But just a ridiculous season for him, I'm looking at
it right now. And Austin Matthews only has eighty points,
but he has fifty four goals. Zach Commons tied for
second with Sam Reinhart. He's obviously a solid bit eight
(07:13):
goals behind Matthews, but it's still quite something. I mean,
people were saying that Zach Coymon was the worst contract
of all time, and look where he is right now.
He is finding ways to win and that's that's huge.
So overall, just fun fun in general for Zach Kymon
(07:39):
and Amton Oilers is they look into a tough game
this weekend against Colorado, but we can kind of leave
it at that for them. They had an alright trade deadline.
Definitely was a little disappointed they didn't do a little more,
but so far it's looking all right for them. Aton
w Olers not looking terrible in the in the standings,
(08:06):
so we can pull up these standings right now on
the Pacific Division, they are second in the Pacific Division,
obviously hot. They're seven and three in their last ten.
They're on a two game win streak. I mean they're
quite something. Seven and three in their last ten. They're
hot in the division, hottest and the Pacific as the
(08:28):
Canucks are five and five in their last ten. The
Oilers are nine points back of the Canucks with a
solid amount of games hand, so they can maybe do
some damage on the Canucks with a jam pack schedule
that they have coming up. And the Kings with seventy seven,
Vegas was seventy seven and Seattle was sixty eight, and
(08:52):
then rate behind them with one point behind is the
Flams with sixty seven points. But just really some crazy
stuff by the Edman. Snow Olers been able. I mean
they were all the way down on my phone with
(09:12):
the Sharks and now they're up nine points behind the Canucks.
And as long as they can hold on to this spot.
I'm happy, but Vegas hasn't looked great either, and I
think we'll get into them kind of later, but they
actual will get into them right now. Vegas obviously cheating
(09:34):
doing what they do. They use LTR for people who
don't know that ltr's long Term Injured reserve and if
you put a player on it, it doesn't count towards
the cap. So the last two years they put in
Mark Stone, who's worth nine and a half million dollars,
right before the trade deadline, and then they go get
a couple big players. So they traded for Noah Hanifin,
(09:56):
which is a big deal. He's a big, good defenseman
who played for the Flames. And then they ended up
trading for Thomas Hurdle, which was he was on no
one's radar, no one was talking about that he was
gonna get traded, and he got traded. So crazy stuff
that Vegas was able to pull off kind of at
the end of the deadline, I was at lunch and
(10:18):
watching the live show Daily Faced Off Live Show, and
it popped up, and I was shocked. I was pretty
mad at it as well. I'm like, how are they
able to keep pulling this off. But yeah, the Oilers
still ahead of Vegas even though they cheat. I mean,
(10:38):
I know they're still suffering with some injuries, but just
overall solid, solid, solid. Hopefully they can end up beating
Colorado on the weekend. But we can take a ship
to the NFL here as some breaking news just happened.
I mean, my boy Connor Halli's gonna be happy about
(11:00):
this one. Keenan Allen traded to the Charges in exchange
for a fourth round pick, which is crazy stuff. I
did not see this happening. Mike Williams got released not
too long ago, and he gets traded for our fourth
round pick because that they don't have the money. I'm
(11:23):
the Chargers approached wide receiver about restructuring contract before trading him,
so he would not restructure his contract. I don't know
what to say. This is tough for the Bears. Tough.
I mean, who's gonna be the wide receiver one? Are
they running with the rookie that they had last year,
Quentin Johnson who really didn't do much of anything. I
(11:44):
guess they're gonna have to make another move in the
wide receiver round because they just got rid of their
two two wide receivers. Some breaking news here German Manning show.
Marquise Brown signs with the Chiefs one year, eleven million dollars.
He played pretty solid with the Cardinals. I guess it's
giving the Chiefs an upgrade on Marquez Walter Scanton, who
(12:07):
they released not too long ago. So that's good for
the Chiefs in general, getting another wide receiver, which they
desperately needed. I thought they'd go out and try and
get Mike Evans or Michael Pittman try and make a
bounce on one of those wide receivers. But apparently not
(12:28):
apparently nat. But it was a crazy, crazy start a
free agency. I woke up on what was it this Sunday, Yeah,
the Sunday, and you had Kirk Cousins signing his massive
deal on the Falcons. We'll get into that in a second.
Derrick Henry signing later in the day. Boom, you had
(12:51):
Josh Jacobs signing with the Packers, which was shocking, Aaron
Jones obviously getting cut and then signing with the Vikings.
DeAndre Swift going to the Bear obviously, now just Keenan
Allen going to the Bears, Marquis Brown going to the Chiefs,
Tony Pollard signing with the Titans. There's a bunch of them.
There's a lot of different signings. The Rams at a
(13:13):
couple of signings, but it's not really the important signings
that people want to hear talk about. This morning, the
Cardinals traded for Desmond Riddle. For Desmond Riddle to the
Cardinals for Rondell Moore, So good for them on that point.
I guess they're looking to get a solid backup behind
Kyler Murray, maybe some injury support in case something happens
(13:38):
like that. I got a bit of a cough, So
if you hear me just muting randomly, it's because of this.
It's because of this cough. But yeah, this NHL free agency,
I mean NFL just crazy, crazy, crazy stuff. I mean,
we can start with Joe Flack, I mean Joe Flacco,
(14:01):
not Joe Flacco. Who did Jill Flacco sign with because
I saw him sign But we can start with Kirk Cousins,
I mean, Kirk unbelievable, Like we can get going about Atlanta,
but they're going to be a lot better, a lot better,
(14:23):
and like he's ridiculous. Okay, the Colts signed Joe Flacco.
By the way, But Kirk Cousins, coming off his acl
tair going to the Falcons four years, one hundred and
eighty meal, he's making a lot of money, a lot.
(14:43):
He's made four hundred million guaranteed in his career, which
is unbelievable if you look at it for a guy
who's only ever won one playoff game. That's kind of
the doubts about him. But with the Vikings, he's shown
that he's a good quarterback. No matter what, he's a
(15:06):
good quarterback. My sister's walking down the stairs right now.
She's got to Derek. Yeah. I don't know what you
came down here for. But Kirk Cousins, scraam Campbell, thank
(15:32):
you now, First Campbell manning an appearance. I mean she's
going to England six days. Hey, Campbell, come down, come
down here, come down here, come down here. Put on
the headphones because I said so you can hear me, right, Yeah,
(16:04):
what do you think about kirk Cousin's going to it
be Atlanta Falcons. I have no idea what the hell
you're talking about. But Wholl we're gonna have to bleep
that out. You can't say that on this My bad
bad that is your bad that is your bad. The
fans are gonna be unhappy.
Speaker 2 (16:21):
Well, I listened to your voice like a lot, so
I don't understand how they stand you.
Speaker 1 (16:27):
So we can talk about your trip to England.
Speaker 2 (16:29):
Okay, go ahead. Do you have any questions?
Speaker 1 (16:34):
Do I have any questions? Yeah, do you have any questions?
I'm leaving the floor to you. Oh okay.
Speaker 2 (16:38):
Well I'm going to England and almost five days now,
and well I'm going with just me and my aunt
and my uncle. So it's just kind of like, you know,
to get away from you because you're annoying.
Speaker 1 (16:53):
So oh thanks, Yeah, guys, I'm not really that annoying.
I'm I'm not that annoying. See now I just muted
her so she can't say anything. Yeah, you can't yell
so mean? Okay, but yeah, So what do you think
about kirk Cousins to the Falcons?
Speaker 2 (17:10):
Oh my gosh, I don't even know who.
Speaker 1 (17:12):
Okay, you don't need to scream, girl like you screaming
into the mic. I don't care. I don't even know
who that is. Okay, well guess what I do. Who
who is he? He's the quarterback for the Nfalcons. The
time came, I will come over there and take that
mic away from you. Right now, I can mute you
(17:33):
and I can laugh at you. Yeah. See, now you're muted.
Now she can't talk. I think it sounds a lot
better like this. I think everyone would agree me. Okay,
but realistically, yeah, why were you asking?
Speaker 2 (17:49):
This?
Speaker 1 (17:49):
Is? This is the question. Then you can leave. Why
were you asking if there's orange juice and apple juice
in the fridge?
Speaker 2 (17:54):
But there is orange juice?
Speaker 1 (17:55):
Yeah, but why did you ask that?
Speaker 2 (17:57):
Because I like apple juice and he likes orange juice.
Speaker 1 (18:00):
It's just kind of like, yeah, but why would you
Why were you going to ask mom about it? Hungry?
But hungry? It's it's water, it's it's at the dree.
It works. This don't fill you up. That's the type
of sister. That's Cambell Manning. Folks. Now she's done. You're done.
(18:20):
You're done. You're done. Okay, you get one more thing
and then you're gone because I gotta you gotta ask
me a question. Hey, we're bleeping that out again. You
can't say that, okay, Well we're putting you on me, guys.
Speaker 2 (18:38):
Yeah no, no, that's not mean about Okay, tell me
give me a question. Please, I'll answer it.
Speaker 1 (18:44):
Honestly, I have a bit of cough. You're kind of
putting me on the spot here, Cam.
Speaker 2 (18:53):
What do you like? Is there something that you've always
Actually I have.
Speaker 1 (18:57):
A few questions for you. No, no, no, no no, we're
not asking those on here. It's not about me, it's
about you.
Speaker 2 (19:01):
That's what.
Speaker 1 (19:03):
This is kind of a surprised episode. We're supposed to
be talking about the Atlanta Falcons and exciting, so it's
just like, Okay, what what are you most looking forward
to in England? Meeting Tommy in It? But isn't he
(19:25):
in the US? In the US?
Speaker 2 (19:27):
Sadly today?
Speaker 1 (19:32):
So hey, I don't shut up. When I look at you,
I throw up. Okay, no, hey, stop stop I'm talking.
I'm talking when you don't call me brosky. Okay, that's
that's it. That's it. That's Campbell Mountain and everyone, get
out of here, Get out of here, scram Okay, Okay,
(19:58):
Tommy in It is in the United States. For people
that don't know, toll me In is a Minecraft YouTuber
that she follows that no one really likes because he's
a loser. You liked him, I never liked him, Okay, buddy,
but you did.
Speaker 2 (20:12):
That's the thing, like, you can't really say anything.
Speaker 1 (20:15):
I didn't like Tommy in it ever in like grade seven.
Yeah that means you liked him in grade seven. Yeah, yeah,
I don't like him. I don't. Okay, Yeah, he's annoyed.
And good thing you're not me and them, because I
don't want to see a picture of you like an
ass with him. You would do that? You do that,
(20:36):
You'd be like I would do that or I'd flip
you off. Hey, it would. I'm not saying though. And
that's it for cambl manin folks. Okay, stop right now,
right not stop stop. That's it, Campbell. I gotta finish
(20:58):
the rest of the Epps.
Speaker 2 (21:00):
Question it's fun.
Speaker 1 (21:01):
One question would be, okay, I'll give you would you rather?
I'm gonna search up would you rather question on my phone?
And hey, stop stop peeling that. There's a reason why
that's there. She's peeling the velcrow like I don't know
if he's ready? Uh entertain them?
Speaker 2 (21:28):
What how should I entertain them?
Speaker 1 (21:32):
Okay? Okay, okay, okay, okay, stop talking. One question? Okay,
would you rather? Actually that's stupid? Okay, got oh wait,
I don't like that. Either this is this is hold on,
hold on. That's it for Campbell mounting folks. Okay, I'm
(21:56):
trying to find that. I'm trying. Yeah, that's what I thought.
I rob this and if you say one more word,
I will come over there. Okay, okay, ah, this okay.
Would you rather work more hours per day but fewer days,
(22:17):
or work hours per day but more days, fewer hours
per day?
Speaker 2 (22:24):
The first day?
Speaker 1 (22:25):
The first one, you'd rather work more hours per day
but fewer days. Actually you don't, no.
Speaker 2 (22:30):
No, no, no, the second one, because then it spans
through the entire week and I still get my own time.
Speaker 1 (22:36):
Would you rather make a phone call send a text?
Speaker 2 (22:39):
Buddy? What do you think I'm gonna say?
Speaker 1 (22:40):
I don't know. You're telling the people my bad text.
Would you rather explore space or the ocean? Space?
Speaker 2 (22:48):
Space sounds more fun anyways.
Speaker 1 (22:49):
Would you rather eat a meal of cow tongue or octopus?
Speaker 2 (22:53):
Octopus? I eat octopus all the time.
Speaker 1 (22:56):
You would rather have an act ray vision or mega
to find here in X ray vision? One more, one more,
and one more. Would you rather be too hot or
too cold?
Speaker 2 (23:11):
M okay, Well, being too hot you can overheat, you
can get sick being too cold.
Speaker 1 (23:16):
No, you can get sick if you're too cold.
Speaker 2 (23:18):
Yeah, I know. But like if you're overheated, all you
gotta do is drink water. But if you're too cold,
you just put on a few layers.
Speaker 1 (23:27):
Okay, so cold, Well, thanks for that, Thanks for that. Okay,
Bob at the end of the show, thanks thanks, guys. No,
I'm kidding you gotta go all right, that that was
That was Campbell. Guys, that was a she just walked. Okay,
stop Campbell, get get out of here. Okay, now she's
get out of the studio. Yeah it is okay, Scram
(23:52):
Yeah that's what I thought. That was Campbell Manning. Now
we can get back to the Falcons. I mean, hopefully
you enjoyed that little bit. I didn't really enjoy it.
She's kind of funky. Okay, get out of here, Scram girl.
You can drink your apple juice scram Okay, So back
(24:14):
to what we were talking about. But Kirk Cousins finds
his team. This is so weird change. Kirk Cousins finds
his team, the team he's been looking for to maybe
go win Super Bowl. I mean they get into coach
Raheem Morris, you know, former Rams defensive coordinator. Their team
is gonna look pretty good. They got a lot of weapons.
(24:35):
Drake London, Kyle Pitts. I mean people are gonna be
looking for comeback here in fantasy for both those guys
as well, and Bijeon will get used, right. Maybe super
Bowl contenders? Dad, do you think the Falcons are Super
(24:56):
Bowl contenders? Why not? Fair enough? He said, no, they're
not super Bowl contenders. Well, Kirk Cousins only one playoff win,
Derrick Henry to the Ravens. I mean they're gonna be
(25:19):
very good. If Derek Henry is the reason why they
get over the hump, that's great, great for the for
the Ravens. I think they might be the favorites to
win the Super Bowl in general, behind the Chiefs and
the Niners. Obviously the Niners losing a couple guys that
(25:40):
are losing Armstead. They do sign Brandon Aiyuk back though,
but they'll obviously they're gonna lose Chase Young likely, but
they're back next year better than ever. We'll see if
they can find a way to because it's gonna get
a lot better. I mean, Saquan sign him with the
(26:00):
Eagles a little bit NFC stuff. The Eagles are gonna
be back. Obviously, Jason Kelsey retiring, but the Eagles are
gonna be back. I mean, we'll see if they have
the same habits that they had that at the end
of the year losing whatever it was, the seven straight games.
But it could be the year that they they come back,
(26:26):
maybe find a way to win some more games. In general.
I mean they definitely need, definitely need to win some
more games overall. If they're gonna want to have a
chance to win the Super Bowl, they can't win ten
and then lays out like they did in general. Now
(26:49):
she's coming back down again with my orange shoes. What's
the orange shoes for? But yeah, but mom might be
using that. What she say, Oh tell her thank you, well,
I get some orange juice. That's service right there. Service.
But yeah, it was a great NFL free agency. I mean,
(27:10):
Rams get good offensive lineman, great corner and Williams. I
mean like they got a huge, big name player. But
fun overall, fun going into kind of what things are
looking like up into sports coming up here. You have
(27:39):
you have a big, big, big tournament in the NCAA
National Championship upcoming. You got March Madness upcoming soon. I
think that starts on March eighteenth, so it's upcoming here
as the final games start to play out, really really exciting.
(28:02):
It's where basketball. It's probably my favorite time to watch basketball.
The only time that I really have watched basketball, it's
March Madness, not even the NBA playoffs as much like
I just didn't really keep up with it unless it
was the Raptors that one year that they won. It's
(28:24):
too bad. Blue Jays baseball is upcoming, So your fantasy
baseball league maybe starting like mine. That's always fun. But
just overall it's looking fun for the world of sports
coming up soon. I mean the twenty eighth of March
is when opening day for baseball is. Obviously, Blue Jays
(28:47):
fans still having flashbacks to October. What a wonderful October
that was my birthday month. Still hopefully they can do something.
I don't have much expectations for them, but Kevin Gosman
will see if he gets the opening day start. He's
(29:08):
been feeling a little fatigued. The Jay's obviously signed Vodo,
Joey Vodo. He was looking for a team. He's just
gonna play in the minor leagues. But it's just overall
looking looking up. I just saw this thing pop up
by the way for Chicago Bears. This could be their
(29:31):
probably potential offense Kleb Williams, DeAndre Swift, Keenan Allen, DJ Moore,
Moore and Cole Comet. That would be quite a team
if they I mean, if they kept usin feels that
look even better to be completely honest, But that's something
we talk about closer to to the NFL Draft, is
(29:52):
what team's needs are, why their team needs are. But yeah,
looking forward, we can kind of look forward into sports
here and then we'll wrap it up. Obviously, the Oilers,
like I said earlier, abs Oilers on Saturday, and then
on Tuesday, March nineteenth, Oilers and the Canadians. Then they
(30:18):
don't play till the Thursday, and I'm pretty sure, yeah,
they don't play till the Thursday. See Oilers looking to
keep keep moving themselves up in the stands. Maybe can
pass Vancouver, maybe not. Maybe McDavid passes McKinnon by the
(30:38):
next time we hop on the pond. But we'll see,
we'll see things move and change how we go. Probably
will post this on Friday tomorrow in the morning, so
wherever you are, we'll leave it at that for today.
I just wanted to come on and do one before
(31:04):
just before the Lawyers game. So everyone have a good
day and we'll be back next time. Thanks for listening
to the Manager.
Speaker 3 (31:14):
You can follow us on Twitter at the Underscore Manage
Show and you can follow me on Instagram and Twitter
at You and Man in ninety seven. Thanks for listening.
We'll be back tomorrow.
Speaker 1 (31:27):
Have a good day.
