Merilyn (00:00):
Well, hello again.
Or hello for the first time.
I'm Merilyn and today I'mchatting with Patricia Lohan.

Patricia (00:06):
And feng shui is not like something like I don't sit
in a house and chant and do almslike in a house.
That's not what feng shui is.
Feng shui is literallyacupuncture for your home.

Merilyn (00:18):
Patricia is a feng shui expert, an award-winning author
and entrepreneur living herabsolute dream life between
Bali, Greece and New York.
And of course, Ireland.
She's helped thousands of womenaround the world transform
their lives and businesses bymagnetising their homes and
their home offices through thepractice of feng shui.

(00:38):
Let's dive in.
Welcome to the show, Patricia.

Patricia (00:42):
Thank you so much.

Merilyn (00:44):
Reading your bio, it reads like a lot of very
talented genius, entrepreneurs,lots of interest.
But you've also got this, youknow, business and spirituality
and a lot of us are like this.
We don't know how they fit, andwe feel this pressure to niche,
to pick one of them.

(01:04):
And we end up compromising.
How did you finally I guessallow yourself is what we're
talking about to bring those twotogether?
And how did that form you knowwhat you're doing now?
How did what was that journey?

Patricia (01:19):
Um, I suppose like it's so interesting because when
I was like 15, I think 15 or16, I got my first books about
feng shui, but I grew up in anentrepreneurial family.
Um, and growing up in anentrepreneurial family, I kind
of really does a there's a senseof freedom being an
entrepreneur, anyways.
You know, they my parentsdidn't live like by normal
hours.

(01:39):
Now they had a bar and arestaurant, so their hours
weren't like that that holisticor that.
But they we were still able togo on holidays in November when
nobody else was, you know, youknow, when it when it was just
we had um an alternative kind oflifestyle um with that.
And that was something that wasreally stood out to me for for
me for a long time.

(02:00):
And then with the with the fengshui, I just was hooked from
the get-go with it.
I was just obsessed.
Now, what happened really forme was that I then looked
around.
I was like, no, I just want tobe normal.
I want to do a degree inbusiness, do my thing, get a
nine to five job, work in anoffice, like be normal.
There's nothing like normalabout me at all ever.

(02:23):
I mean, I don't think any of usreally, to be honest, are like
we can all be as the black sheepof our of ourselves, but I was
seriously that.
Um so when I kind of got that,I was like, hang on a minute,
this is not, this is way toorestrictive for me.
I don't like it.
So that was a really big redflag.
And I ended up back in Irelandworking with my family in the
family business and running thatfor like eight years.

(02:45):
And it was great, but it wasjust not my soul's desire.
Like I was definitely gettingvery, I was kind of just like
really miserable and just get,you know, doing the thing every
day and not realizing thatactually there's way more
opportunities for us.
Like, you know, we could stayin our little house and stay in
a little bubble in Ireland, andI could have stayed there and

(03:07):
could easily still be there, butI was like, something needs to
change.
Um, and that ended up mequitting everything, moving to
India, trained to be a yogateacher.
Now, the yoga, and then all ofthese different modalities
started coming in.
So I was able to like readoracle cards like naturally for
people.
Like it wasn't even I had tolearn it.
People are like, How did youlearn how to read cards?

(03:28):
For people I was like, Ididn't, I just look at them and
I tell you what they say.
And then they're like, How didyou know my name is this?
Or how did you know that?
And I'm like, I don't, youknow, so it was really part of
this journey of just like anawakening.
And what fascinates me most isthat I moved out of my comfort
zone.
I moved out of the environmentthat I had been in for a long

(03:51):
time, and everything started tochange and I started to open up,
which is kind of what I do withfeng shui now with people.
You know, we change theirenvironment.
When we change yourenvironment, it changes you.
And that's what um the the kindof why I absolutely love feng
shui so much, because you don'tneed to go to India to change
your life.
Like you don't need to, and youdon't need to go on all these

(04:13):
adventures.
That's just me.
It's my my value of freedom andtravel or my favorite things,
you know.
So when when um we really divedinto and I dived into kind of
like all of this holistic umwork, I came back to Ireland
from India.
I was like, I'm gonna teachsome yoga, sell some Buddhist
art.
I was really just like justdoing all the different things.

(04:36):
Um, and I still kind of hadn'tquite landed on it, landed on
what I really wanted to do.
I was doing a bit ofeverything, and then I moved
into my a new apartment.
So, you know, I was at like theyoga classes I teach, I make
five euros.
Like it wasn't like I was like, you know, doing my business was
kind of growing and I was goingreally with the flow.
And that was the thing thatchanging my environment and

(04:59):
moving to India did.
It tapped me into a new flow, into a new um working from a
different space, a differentplace.
And it was really from a payplace of passion and love and
doing what felt good.
And I was doing that and itfelt amazing.
So every all theseopportunities were coming, and I
got this new apartment.
And when I moved into theapartment, I just thought I was

(05:21):
like really ready for love atthis stage.
And I kind of said, you knowwhat, I'm ready to call in love.
So I remembered all that fengshui stuff, and I did it around
my apartment, told my flatmate, when I move, when I leave move
this, uh move out of thisapartment, I'm moving you with
my future husband into ourhouse.
And she laughed her head off.
She was like, You are bonkers, like, yeah, right.
And here I am in our lovelyhouse in the countryside where I

(05:45):
moved to.
Um, but that kind of startedthe ball rolling with like,
change your environment, set upyour environment.
And I was seeing clientshelping them like really move
into a different, more like intoa more positive state in their
bodies.
I was helping them tap intotheir innate passion and joy in
their lives.

(06:05):
And with doing that, I wouldstart asking them about their
homes.
And of course, when thestudents are ready, the teacher
appears.
Some incredible feng shuimasters arrived in Ireland.
I was hooked.
I was like, I am doing this.
And I moved in here with Kenand I said, I'm going to do this
feng shui for our house anddive deeper because I knew there
was more to it.

(06:26):
So we did the feng shuitogether, and Ken was sitting
beside me.
He he had also been interestedin feng shui in his 20s.
And the first time I came tothis house, I looked around, I
was like, he's feng shui thisbedroom for love.
Like I just could see, like, because it's the same things
that I had done.
Um, so we both had this mutualinterest in it.
Um, I said, we're going to dothis feng shui.

(06:48):
Um, and he said, Oh, me too.
So we both went off and and didit together.
Um, and we were both reallyinto it.
So we came home.
We I had zero expectations ofthe transformation that it would
um facilitate, like zeroexpectations.
I just always wanted feng shui.
I wanted to know more.

(07:09):
And even in the training I setback, I set in it, I was like,
oh my god, this feels so good.
And I was, and I just kind ofknew it all.
Even Ken was like, How wouldyou know he'd be off studying
the books?
And I'd be doing consconsultations for people, and it
would just be blah out of mymouth.
Um, and I was like, I must havedone it in a past life or
something.
So we were doing the um thefeng shui just for ourselves,

(07:32):
and we did our own house, youknow, that like on the deeper
level, which is kind of like theenergetic, like the feng shui
is acupuncture for your home.
So we did that, and then likeour life changed really
dramatically, like in a in a lotof ways.
So, for example, I we had alike a six-figure windfall.
So this house had like nofurniture, we like had concrete

(07:54):
floors, you know, we were livingin a very like basic house that
was not fully finished oranything, you know, and the we
were just the trickling of moneywas coming in to fix it and to
do it up.
And all of a sudden, it wasn'tjust a trickle, it was like a
flood.
It was just money was coming inin all different unexpected
ways.
I was getting more clients, more media exposure.

(08:17):
I would have done a trade faira few one year and I would have
made maybe 600 euros.
The next I did it one when Iwas here, I made 7,000 euros.
Like it was like hugetransformation and changes.
Um, and like all we did was thefeng shui.
Like I was still doing the samework.
Ken was still doing the samework.

(08:37):
So that kind of was like, wow, there's something to this.
Um, and at that stage, thepeople, I you know, I used to
send a newsletter to my peopleonce a month, and that was like
some of the things from themarketing that I had remembered,
like, send an email newsletter.
Like, so I sent one once amonth, and I'm walking down the
street in Dublin one day, andthis woman says to me, Oh,
Patricia, um, you're doing FengShui now, come to my house.

(08:59):
And I was like, Okay.
And then another person said,Oh, you do the feng shui, come
to my house.
So I just like I didn't, Ididn't create a website, I just
put it on my email, I sent itout, and then all of a sudden,
that kind of became the thingpeople ask me questions about.
And that's um, and that reallylanded in me was the fact that

(09:20):
in this amazing personaldevelopment world that we're all
part of, and this kind of thisgrowth, people are in this
growth mindset and wanting totransform and wanting to evolve,
which is like what we're hereon the planet to do.
Um I realized that it starts athome, you know, it all starts
at home.
And when we have, when we'velike ultimately, like whatever

(09:44):
time or whatever energy state wewere in, when we found the home
that we're now living in, orthe apartment, or whatever, it
doesn't matter, the the spacethat we're now um in, um, we
were like an energetic match toit.
But as we evolve and change andchange our energy, our house
doesn't.
Um, and that's where I come inbecause uh we then change the

(10:06):
vibration and energy of thehouse.
And by doing that, itfacilitates the growth of the
person in the house to reallystep into their fullest, most um
embodied version of them.
Like that, you know, it's likethose, you know, and so many of
my clients over the years, they're like, My vision board is

(10:27):
now my reality.
Like I've had the baby, youknow, I've met the husband, like
I've, you know, and and thatwas when it all kind of went
like, oh my god, this is likeamazing.
You know, and it was, and itwas like we kind of set up the
online business, a feng shuionline business, not by
accident, like it wasn't like Isaid, woke up one morning, was

(10:49):
like, we're gonna do feng shui,we're gonna do it online, we're
gonna build this program withall of these amazing community,
and it's gonna transformpeople's lives.
Like honestly, we went to Bali,uh, and then all of a sudden we
we were doing feng shui forpeople online, um, and it has
just evolved, like it taking alife of its own, you know.
Powerhouse is the name of it.

(11:11):
And, you know, I really believethat, you know, there's no
accidents.
The name Powerhouse is, youknow, helping people become the
powerhouse of their own lives, you know, and we have to have
their home supporting themfirst.
And it's just beenmind-blowing.

Merilyn (11:27):
What would you say to the skeptics?
What is feng shui?
And is it just positivethinking and the energy that
you've got around it, or isthere what is the science behind
it?

Patricia (11:39):
So feng shui is 5,000 years old.
So, as a skeptic, you know, howdoes something hang around and
still be giving amazing results5,000 years later?
I don't know.
And you know, you don't have tobelieve in feng shui for it to
work for you.
Um, if you are a skeptic, Iwould love to put you onto some
of the amazing skeptic husbandsof the clients that I have in my

(12:00):
program.
We have had so many incrediblewomen on our program in our
powerhouse program, and youknow, their husbands have
laughed at them, they haveresisted, they have said, I
you're wasting your money.
Um, and interestingly, it's thehusbands that have got the new
jobs, the promotions, thecompany cars, these amazing

(12:22):
windfalls, stock options, likethese really bizarre things, um,
amazing things happen for thepartners.
And the reason that I believethat that happens, it's almost
like the more skeptical you are,the more the house is like
you're not attached.
I'm gonna give you proof it.

Merilyn (12:42):
Wow, I love that. I love it.

Patricia (12:43):
So they they get so much crazy proof after um after
it's been embraced that it'sjust hilarious.
Um, and you know, for me whenit comes to feng shui, you know,
we've had I've had likearchitects come and sit in my
workshops and be like, thissometimes just a lot of this
just makes sense.

(13:03):
I'm like, yes, it does.
But we overlook it, weabsolutely totally overlook it
and we don't realize.
Um, and feng shui is not likesomething like I don't sit in a
house and chant and do alms likein a house.
That's not what feng shui is.
Um feng shui is literallyacupuncture for your home.
So when we go, we think aboutthe acupuncturist, and I'm going

(13:26):
to mine later on today.
I go to her, she looks at mytongue, she looks at my
physique, my body, she takes mypulses, she sees what's going
on, and then she places needlesin my body to readjust the
energy and get me, you know, lined up and healthy and
vibrant.
That's what I do with someone'shouse.
There's a lot of, it'sdifferent, obviously, the
analysis is different, the sizeof the house, the shape of the

(13:48):
house, the year the house isbuilt, and then we do a very
detailed analysis of the houseand based on the different like
where it's located and all ofthat.
Um and it's almost like um, Idon't know if you ever had your
birth chart read in astrology, but that's what we do for a
house.
We create a birth chart for thehouse, and then we're like,
well, the reason that you knowyou haven't seen the business

(14:11):
opportunities that you've wantedis because of this, and this is
how we balance it.
Um, and essentially what it isis about bringing the house into
balance.
And when the house is inbalance, you come into balance
and then things start to flow.
Um, and that's what we see timeand time again with our
clients.

Merilyn (14:29):
Can every house be corrected or fixed or improved?
Or are there some bad houses?

Patricia (14:36):
You know, there's no perfect houses, like, and that's
actually, you know, I wassaying I've just created like a
feng shui mini course.
You know, if if I had been withKen and we had our feng shui
head like real, more umprofessional feng shui head on
when we were designing when hewas designing this house,
there'll be a few things that wewould change.
But there's a few things thatare great and there's a few
things that are not great, butwe work with it.

(14:57):
I think that's the mostimportant thing.
There's always little tweaksthat you can do um to really
bring a house into balance.
And you know, there's a lot ofmisconceptions about what feng
shui is.
We've never told anyone thatthey need to move a house.
Yeah, sure.
We've never told anyone thatthey need to move house.
You know, everything hassomething that we can balance or
mitigate.

(15:18):
Um, it's not about knockingwalls, like and if you're
sitting in one room, you're notgonna be moved to somewhere
else.
Like you don't need to moveyour kitchen somewhere, like if
wherever your kitchen is, like Itake a very pragmatic approach
to Feng Shui, and I'm like, thisis your house, this is what
we've got, this is what we'reworking with.
We're not gonna make any hugechanges, we're just going to

(15:39):
balance it.
Like, you know, in theacupuncturing acupunctures isn't
giving fashion advice, as in Idon't give interior design.
She's not going to do anysurgery, like as in, like, not
going to cutting limbs off me.
She basically uses what I have,my body, to bring me back into
balance.
And it's exactly what we dowith the house.

Merilyn (15:57):
Home offices.
What should we look out for?
What could we do?
What changes could we make toyou know enhance our space?

Patricia (16:05):
So the home office is my favorite because, like,
basically, there's two rooms.
I'm like, you, and I think thisis also just really important
to realize is that there's thevisible aesthetic when we look
at a house, um, which is morethe kind of the tip of the
iceberg, it's easy.
And then the other one is whatI do, it's just kind of under
the surface.
It's not like visible, butwe're really working on tapping

(16:26):
into the invisible energy of thehouse.
But with the visible for yourhome office and the bedroom,
they're the two kind of ones youknow, we kind of spend the most
amount of time in and that youwould want to look at and
address.
And this is where I kind ofwould be more around the setup
of the space.
So you can see me now in avideo.

(16:46):
People are on the podcast, probably can't, but if you're
listening, um, I'm just going todescribe my office.
First of all, I have a wallbehind me with some images and
pictures that fe that have likereally some positive, um
positive, you know, memories andpositive um connections with me
and that have been gifts.
They all make me feel good.
I have a really nice strong umhigh back chair, which gives me

(17:09):
support.
So I've got my back to thewall, I've got support there,
I've got the strong chair, I'vegot support there.
So the other thing is this isknown as the command position.
Um, and the reason I want to bein the command position is that
we definitely want to feel inour power when we are working
every day.
We want to feel like that we'rebeing supported and we can see
what's coming.

(17:29):
So the next thing to my left, there happens to be a window,
which is fine.
And then over to the far umright, there's a a door.
So I can see everything thatcomes in.
There's a bit of space in frontof me.

Merilyn (17:40):
And that's what a power position is.

Patricia (17:42):
And this is what the power position is.
So you're able to see the door, you're able to see what's
coming in.
Now, um, when I I remember likeone of our very first office
consultations, like years andyears ago, and I walked into the
office, and there was a couple, though they had a their
business together, and um he waslike super happy in Cherby, and

(18:03):
like it was like, that wasgreat to have you here, blah,
blah, blah.
And then she was just like sostressed out.
She looked so wired andoverwhelmed and stressed out.
And I was like, Are we talkingabout the same business?
Like they literally werecompletely choking cheese
energetically about the businessand about their even their
demeanor and everything.

(18:24):
I was like, This is sointeresting to see the contrast.
And then I walked into theiroffice that they shared, and I
was like, hmm, it explains itall.
So there he was in the cornerin his power position, this good
chair in his back, and he couldsee the door.
Where was her desk?
Her desk was when you open thedoor, the first thing you saw
was the back of her chair, herhead basically in her shoulders,

(18:47):
and her desk pushed up againstthe wall.
So every single piece, everyall of the chi, all the energy,
everything that came in, thefirst person to get it was her.
She didn't see it coming.
So it was just like coming, landing on her shoulders, on her
lap.
And I was like, So doeseverything come?
You don't see it coming, youfeel totally overwhelmed, like

(19:07):
you have no space for growth orexpansion, you're totally
blocked, and it's like you'relike just totally stressed out.
And she's like, How did youknow?
And she burst out crying.
And I'm like, Well, the waythat you're sitting right now is
just the worst.
Like you are literally in themost disempowering place, and
you're it's not going to changeunless we change your

(19:28):
positioning.
Um, and it was just such asignal, like it was amazing.
The two of them, same business, completely different energies,
because like it was symbolic andit just plays out like our
home, our office, our space is amirror of who we are and what
it we're creating.
So when your office is whenyou're set up in this like
literally space, and that's likeyou know, your your

(19:51):
disempowering play space, you'rereally kind of setting yourself
up for a fit here, notnecessarily fit just for more
stress.
Um so that was really that's areally important one.
So, like a good strong desk, agood chair, and good
positioning.
Now, you mightn't be able tochange it.
Now, she was able to change it,which was great.
And I was like, Yay, let's moveyou.
Um, and if you can't change itand you have to sit with your

(20:13):
back to the door, try and sit itso it's not directly behind the
door, like so that at leastthere's a bit of space away from
the door.
If you have to sit with yourback to the door and you're
wedged into a corner, there'stwo things I like to recommend.
One is get yourself like alittle mirror and put that on
your desk so that when you'resitting at your desk, you can
see the door.
So, like when your back is tothe door, your fight or flight,

(20:35):
like are all we're automaticallyon.
We're tense.
You don't want to be workingfrom a place of tense or stress.

Merilyn (20:41):
Wonder who's coming.

Patricia (20:42):
Wondering who's coming.

Merilyn (20:43):
So you just living at home, it's not like there's a
baddie coming, but you know, thekids running in or the dog
running in, and yeah, yeah.

Patricia (20:51):
Yeah, and it's just generally that cheap.
So just having the door, havinga little mirror, you can um see
you can see what's coming.
Um, the next thing that I liketo talk to people about their
office is just like what is inyour office?
Like one thing that can kind ofget that can happen in an
office is that, especially ahome office, is it can also
become the storage room of allthe other stuff.

(21:12):
So suitcases, kids, toys, cuteequipment.
Oh, I've seen like bikes, youname it, and it just becomes
this other dumping ground.
And the thing is, that allbecomes really distracting, and
you really want to make yourspace inviting.
You want to make your space, you want to pretend, especially

(21:33):
even if it's your home office, pretend that your clients are
going to come to you.
And that will change yourentire perspective, like a
perspective on how do I set upthis office?
Because, first of all, you havespace for a client, a nice
chair.
You'll definitely have somereally nice artwork on the
walls.
You'll make the place feeltidy, fresh, clear, welcoming,

(21:56):
and you know, really anexciting, a nice place.
You're like, Yeah, this is whatmy because this is this is your
off your office represents you,it represents your business, it
represents how you're taking, you know, how you are really
taking command.
And you're like, I'm not justgoing to take this tiny little
corner in the spare bedroom andtry and run my empire from here.

(22:19):
Like, even if you just think ofa CEO of a huge company like we
watched on the movies, thefirst thing is the receptionist.
Then there's a big longhallway, and their office is the
furthest back to the corner, and it's a really nice space
that's like kind of a littlehot.
And you want to be thinking, like, well, I'm the CEO of my
business, I need to haveeverything in this space that

(22:42):
represents that, that mirrorsthat, that is that.
And people obviously go, Thisseems like a waste of money, but
actually, you spend like a lotof time in here, first of all.
So you come in, you want tofeel excited to be there, but
you also want to feel supported, creative, productive.
So it needs to feel, and youjust talked about Marie Kondo,

(23:02):
it needs to spark joy.
You need to come in and belike, I love it.

Merilyn (23:05):
Like it has to be like making that phrase, because I
used to say that before.
I love that phrase.

Patricia (23:11):
I know it should be, it should be when you walk into
your space, it should light youup.
So, for example, just a tiny, tiny little example.
Like I was here in this officeand with these lovely like white
floors, but they're not likeit's like a kind of a it's like
a smooth kind of cement, whichis lovely with the heated floor,

(23:32):
heated underfloor heating.
But I was like, Do you knowwhat I need is something cozy?
So I got myself like theloveliest, coziest rug.
So even under my feet now, Ihave these lovely soft rugs, and
it's like all of these littletouch points around your office,
they make a difference.
Um, you know, keeping your deskas clear as possible, um,
making sure that everything isaligned with your current

(23:55):
business.
And this is really interestingbecause I just feel like
entrepreneurs, we definitely ourbusinesses evolve.
And sometimes the things thatwe have in our office or
workspace or even on ourcomputer can be connected to old
businesses, old projects, oldclients, all of that paperwork.

(24:16):
I would certainly recommendletting that all go and really
not having one foot in an oldbusiness or old project.
You know, the amount of clientsthat I've found old business
cards from old businesses orheaders of paper or contracts
and all of that stuff from thepast.
You want to make your home andyour especially your office like

(24:37):
a vision board for your futurewith the business.
So whether you create a visionboard or like what are your
goals, have your missionstatement up.
You know, if you have a team, have pictures of your team and
have it quite relevant to today.
You know, I actually did anoffice consult for a lady um
last week, and we were justlooking at it, and she's just
like, everything is all about mypast in here.

(24:59):
Like everything.
It's like really kind of likemy healing journey and my past.
And I was like, well, if youhave a spiritual business,
that's fine, but does it allneed to be like that?
What about your future?
What where do you see yourself?
What why are you doing this?

Merilyn (25:12):
So can we talk?
Can we move into the bedroom?
What let's do let's just do thebedroom quickly.
What can we do to improverelationships if we want to
attract a relationship or wewant to improve relationships in
our bedroom?

Patricia (25:27):
Um in the bedroom, to be honest, the bedroom is just
there's three words rest,romance, relaxation.
So you want to create and setup the bedroom that just has
those, that, that energy.
So going into your bedroom andhaving, you know, uh the artwork
is a really huge one.
I remember there's like twofunny artwork pieces that I or
three that I've seen inbedrooms.

(25:48):
I've seen like hundreds ofinteresting pieces of art in the
bedroom.
So there's three that arestanding out.
One was a lady over her bed,and that this we don't recommend
having artwork overhead whenyou're in your bedroom because
it like impacts your dreams andyour energy and your capacity to
sleep.
But she had like a picture oflike a horse, like a galloping
horse.
And I was like, wow, yourdreams must be like racing at

(26:10):
night.
And she's like, How did youknow?
I was like, look what's overyour head.
Like it's like, yeah, um, yeah.
And then we had another lady Isaw had like in the the um New
York um skyline over her head.
I was like, wow, that's sobusy, and it's in your bedroom.
Like, what's there's nothingrestful or romantic or you know,

(26:32):
like just calm about thatpicture at all, you know.
So being really mindful of whatyou have, what artwork you have
in your bedroom.
You want to think about love, romance.
Um, you know, have pictures ofa couple that feels really good,
that feels really welcoming.
Um uh, for example, you yeah, like a beautiful picture of a

(26:52):
couple or yourself and yourpartner on a really like happy
day will be really good, thatyou're really happy and excited.
That's the kind of picture thatyou want in your bedroom.
Um, and then me minimizing umany like again, the bedroom
restaurants, relaxation.
So no phones, like no phones.

(27:14):
So just think about your phone, okay?
I'll just like I know that Irun my business from my phone.
Pretty much 80% of my businessis I run on my phone.
So that means that this is notjust in my business, my personal
life, all my social media, mybanking, everything.

(27:34):
This is basically my life isrun by the phone.
And then how do you expectyourself to sleep calmly with
having your life right behindyou beside you, plus the Wi-Fi,
it just alone, the Wi-Fi signalhaving that up beside your head.
And then you're like, I know, but my alarm clock.
And I'm like, you know what?
Alarm clocks are not veryexpensive.

(27:55):
You can get a really nice cuteone and then put your phone down
in your office, especially ifyou work from home.
This is I've literally, it'sreally we're doing this call
really early in the morning forme.
This phone has been down hereall night, and it's the it's the
thing I do at my time.
I just put my phone on chargein my office, so then I don't
have it.
So, and this was a tricky onefor me.

(28:16):
So, how I have mitigated thisis I actually do have a phone on
in in my bedroom, but it hasall my meditations on it, it has
no access to Wi-Fi, it's uh theWi-Fi's off and no signal,
there's no SIM card in it.
So I have like my meditationson it because I wanted something
that I could have.
So I'd like just a cheapy phonethat I got in Bali that I put
the things that I use.

(28:36):
So basically, I'm able to turnon my meditations every morning,
it's there, but it's not theone that I spend my life on, and
that's beside my head.
Um, and you know, again, no,like thinking about like the
busyness.
So, you know, I rememberworking with a client in New
York and they had this beautifulapartment, and they were trying

(28:57):
for a baby, and beside herhusband's side of the bed was
like, I'm not joking, like astack of paperwork.
And I was like, Well, so who'she sleeping with?
Like you and his work.
Yeah, and then she was like, Iwas like, where's the baby even
gonna fit in here?
And how are you gonna have timeif he's working in bed?
You know, and it was like, Oh,yeah.

(29:19):
So it's like, get it all out.
It needs to represent a spacefor rest and romance.

Merilyn (29:28):
Wow.
And is there a special play, aspecial way to uh position the
bed?

Patricia (29:33):
Um, yeah, so this is always a really interesting one
because um positioning in likehonestly, 90% of the time I
don't really care where yourcouch is, your chair, your
kitchen table.
Um, the bed is a little bitmore important, but most, and
this is where most bedrooms aredesigned, where the bed will go.
Like there's, you know, as adesigner, you know, you look at

(29:56):
a floor plan, you're like, well, the own the bed will only go on
that wall or that wall.
So if you do have a choice ofbed positions, um, you want to
put it with your uh theheadboard or the um to a wall
and not under a window, um,that's just not that much
support.
It's just actually very similarconcepts to the bedroom, to the

(30:17):
office.
And then um with the support, and then ideally, if you can see
the door.
But as I said, I'll be doing inmy mini course.
Like people come to see ourmaster bedroom, it's not
designed like that.
I can't see the door, butinstead, like the office, I have
a small mirror at the end ofour bed.
So we're lying in bed with asmall little mirror that we can

(30:38):
see at the door coming inbecause there's our bed actually
only goes in this one bed, onedirection, it won't fit anywhere
else.
So I can again, um, people canget caught up in a lot of the
things that they've read.
Like, oh my god, years ago, Iwas featured in an article in
Forbes, and it's like amazing.

(30:59):
And some other Feng Shuiconsultants were also quoted in
it, which is great.
Um, and one of them mentionedin the article something about
like, don't have bathrooms likein the center of your home, or
or I don't know what what itwas.
It's like, and I just was like,no, I said this is like giving

(31:21):
feng shui like the worstreputation ever.
Because someone will read thearticle, yeah.
Someone will read the read thearticle and say, Oh, when you do
open my front door, you see mybathroom.
Like, now my function house isbad, feng shui, I can't do any
feng shui, I'm jinxed.
The reason my house is wrong isbecause of this bathroom.
I'm like, there is a millionother things that we can do
around your home, but just don'tfocus on the one thing.

(31:42):
That's not ideal.
If I was designing a house fromscratch with a client on a
greenfield site, that's when Iwill look with my pencil and my
eraser and be like, hmm, maybewe can can we ship the bathroom
over there.
Like that's you know, that'swhen it's like really simple to
do.
Whereas, you know, it's notit's like that's when that is

(32:02):
possible to do.
And even sometimes it's notbecause of the size or the shape
or the way they want to designit, and we'll just do our best,
you know.
Um, and that's where it's likeanything that you've heard about
feng shui.
I like to say to my clients andpeople over the group, I think
you've heard about feng shui, just erase it from your brain
because we're just gonna startafresh.

Merilyn (32:23):
I love that start afresh.
I love that.
I highly recommend if you'revery interested in what Patricia
does, go check her out.
She's got lots of goodiescoming up, you know, free
courses, paid courses, justreally great.
And you're doing one whereyou're going behind the scenes
of your house, aren't you?

Patricia (32:37):
I know.
Yeah, that was like veryvulnerable.
I was like, this is a greatidea.
I'm gonna show people reallife, like feng shui.
And then we were standingoutside my front door, and I was
like, oh my god, people areactually gonna see my house.
But I just think that it'simportant.
First of all, it's like real, doesn't it?
Yeah, it does make it real.
And like our house isn'tperfect.

(32:59):
And I talk about like themistake with the paint, and I
was like, whoops, like that.
I tell people don't have this, and then we ended up with
another bathroom, and I waslike, I can't change it now yet
at the moment.
But I'm like, it's not, it'snot basically being the
contributing fact, it hasn't,you know, our lives are still
going great, you know, with allthe other things.
So yeah, that's that's a funthing that's that's um that

(33:19):
we're yeah putting out there atthe moment.

Merilyn (33:22):
Now I'm fascinated.
What is a home wealth pocket?

Patricia (33:27):
A home wealth pocket.
Um, so that's not how we wouldtypically describe it.
Um in feng shui, um, well, inin our school, so there's
different schools of feng shuiout there as well, and that's
where you're like, there's loadsof contradicting information.
Um, there's some schools thatsay that you know the house is
you know, it's very like rigid, and it's like this is how you

(33:49):
map it out like this, and that'sthe only way, and it's it's not
personalized.
That doesn't make sense to me.
A lot of people come from thatworld into our world, and
they're like, Oh, no wonder Ihaven't had results from Feng
Shui.
And I'm like, Yeah, becauseevery house is unique, it's just
like every person, it'll belike giving us all the same, you
know, acupuncture, and thenlike thinking we'll get the same

(34:09):
results uh or get amazingresults.
So um, there's differentschools.
Um, and the school that we weum that I practice and teach is
classical blind stars, whichreally is about um it being very
unique.
So um we use a compass and welook at what every area is, um,
and in your home there is aprosperity area, um, which is

(34:32):
the southeast part of your home.
Now, um I usually don't divetoo much into it on things like
this because it can get reallyit gets more complex and it's a
specific area, but you can havea general gist of like where is
the southeast part of my homeand have a little look in that
area, see what's there.
Don't panic if it's the toiletor the bathroom or the kitchen.

(34:52):
Like it actually doesn'tmatter.
You don't have to spend timethere to make more money.
Like most of the time it's theenergetics that can be off, and
that's what we work with ourclients on, but you can still
have a look and see, make surethere's nothing broken there,
make sure it's clean, make sureit's not full of clutter or um,
you know, that it doesn't feellike well tended to and looked

(35:15):
after.
Like just be really have alittle look and see um what's in
that area.
Um and um yeah, bring it in.

Merilyn (35:24):
I think mine's the laundry utility room.
Okay.

Patricia (35:28):
Yeah, though I wouldn't worry too much.
Like most of it is just like, yeah, and then just keep like
the thing is the utility room isused often, and you're gonna
be, you know, changing andmoving.
So it's not it's not an issue.
Um it and and that's only onecontributing factor.
I think this is the other thingthat there's misconceptions
around, is like there's only onefactor that is making the house

(35:51):
this, you know, that'saffecting the prosperity.
And there's a lot of differentfactors.
It can be the way the house isactually built, constructed, it
can be the location of theprosperity area, it could be the
house type, it could be justother things, like there's lots
of other factors when we'relooking at a house that's
actually the bigger thing aroundthe prosperity.

Merilyn (36:12):
Like you would say start simple with just those
basics, just some of those.
Keep it simple, yeah.
Like keep it simple.

Patricia (36:19):
Yeah, for sure.
And in your house, you know, the one thing that I say to
people is that you know, youhave this opportunity with your
house to make it like a visionboard for your future.
Um, so I would say to you justto walk around your house with
fresh eyes, start to just lookaround and see what do you have
on the walls, where did it comefrom?

(36:41):
How does it make me feel?
You know, everything hasenergy, you know, and oftentimes
our homes are mirrors of ourunconscious.
So it's create our home iscreated from a different place,
like not necessarily from ourheart, which you know, don't
don't worry about it, um, butmore about like just looking
like, how does this make mefeel?

(37:02):
Does it feel really good?
Does it excite me?
Does it, you know, then thenthat's something you keep.
And it's, you know, we justtalked about Mariana spark joy.
Um, and her work is amazing, you know, her work is absolutely
amazing.
You've got people reallylooking at their homes and and
the um and the impact and effectof clutter.

(37:22):
The interesting thing for me isthat decluttering and emptying
your house doesn't guaranteeit's going to stay that way.
And oftentimes when the cluttercomes back, it's a red flag for
me that the feng shui isn'tgood.
Like the, you know, and Iwatched some of her shows and
being just like, oh my God,like, you know, an empty house
with nothing in it can have badfeng shui, you know, like it or

(37:45):
an interior design house canhave bad feng shui.
You know, you could haveterrible things happen to your
life and have no furniture inyour house and it's you know,
like live on a couch, live on amattress or whatever, not ideal
feng shui either.
But you know, it's still um,it's still not the mitigate, not
the actual um cause of what'sgoing on in the life, in the

(38:06):
person's life.
Um, because the energy, ifthere's a lot of excess clutter,
it can just be that the energyisn't happy, you know, it's not,
it's not, it's not balanced.

Merilyn (38:16):
This is amazing.
And I think as I said, youknow, if you're interested,
look, look up what she what whatPatricia does.
I'll talk about she.
You're in right in front of me.
Um, but it's so true, you know,it's like we learn about sales
techniques, we learn aboutbusiness strategies and tactics,
and it's like it could be theenvironment.
So that's a really for me,that's a really refreshing and

(38:40):
beautiful way to enhance our ourlives.

Patricia (38:44):
Yeah, and like I think we have talked a lot um around
like the business and theabundance side, but this
practice really helps with allparts of your life.
That's the whole, that's what Ilove about it.
It's like the husbands or thepartners or the children get
better grades or they they geton, but the kids stop arguing.

(39:05):
Like that's priceless.
Imagine if your kids arefighting all the time and then
they stop fighting.
We actually have a lovelyclient in Australia who was just
like, Trisha, this is just it'slike they're like two different
children now.
She said they hug each other, they help each other with their
homework.
Like when I came, which is likewhen we started, she said they
just were non-stop.
She was like, they're liketaking the eyes out of each

(39:27):
other.
And now she's like, they'rejust hugging each other, they
love each other, they're soexcited to be around each other.
I'm like, this is amazing.
Partners getting on better, youknow, more can better
communication, better flow.

Merilyn (39:40):
You know, what was the major change that they they made
to have several kids gettingon?

Patricia (39:46):
Well, that's when we put the remedies in because
there's disharmony, obviously, energetically in their bedrooms
or the family area wasn't good.
Um that's when, like, literallyit's the acupuncture needle
that just like calms it, andthen that then calms everyone in
the house, and then they, youknow, so it's it's the it's the
ripple effect that is the funpart for me.
That we're like looking at likegreat, it's more abundance and

(40:09):
more flow and better success inyour business, but it's the
family getting on better, thechildren having, you know,
getting on better, everyonesleeping better, you know, it's
like it's this um beautifulcreating this harmonious
sanctuary that supportseverybody in the house to
flourish.

Merilyn (40:29):
You uh you know, you called in your husband, you did
it, you feng shui-d yourhusband.
You functioned your business.
Um, is there any other area youyou have that you you have seen
amazing results in your life?

Patricia (40:45):
I think one of them is just that recognition, you
know, just like you know, we gotI won a book publishing
competition, like I've been likein the New York Times, in four
like all of these, and like theywere just so easy, like they
happened so easily.
It wasn't me like running outforcing things, it just happened
really easily.

(41:05):
Um, and that's you know, whenyou're doing your soul's purpose
and you're showing up andyou're sharing, um, and your
home is supporting you, thesethings start to unfold, you
know, and you know, calling in agreat team, um, great support
when I need it for differentthings, that just always feels
like really, really amazing.
So, yeah, it's fun.

Merilyn (41:28):
It's beautiful.
Thank you for what you're doingin the world because I think
women, we love this, it's soaligned to who we are.
Not men love it as well, but Ithink it it it's great that now
we can give ourselves permissionto bring all of this into our
lives, which I just absolutelylove.
So thank you.

Patricia (41:50):
Thank you so much, it's been an absolute pleasure,
and um, yeah, thank you.
