Whiskey has become so popularacross, especially the bourbon

It's been spectacular, so thegroups spectacular.
So the groups, the societiesand the clubs.
I really feel, with the adventof the internet, have really,
really been why this has beensuch a cool thing.
I mean, it even explains someof the big things that have been

whatnot.

Bourbon groups I have a thoughton bourbon groups before we
actually start.
When you think about it.

Bourbon groups what have theymeant when I first got into this
and formed the Scotchy BourbonBoys?
So the Scotchy Bourbon Boys isa group.
We podcast, okay, so you likeGuinness?
Someone asked me Cocktail for aRussian lady.
Yeah, katie, I can make manycocktails.
I can make many cocktails.

But getting back to groups andwhere they were initially, and
what Facebook, in my opinion,and other social media platforms
have done is allowed peoplefrom across the country and the
world to form groups.
Our group is centered aroundthe podcast.
We do meet from time to timelocally and we get together in
different places.
So the main part of the podcastgroup is a select few of fans,

along with the four or five ofus who travel around to
different distilleries.
So at any given time, let'sjust say walker, um has been
with us, randy has been with us,jamie has we've done stuff.
Um, I've actually stopped offon my way back from Wisconsin
and saw John in Chicago, sowe're and Leland Wright, who's
part of our group, on tonight heis in Columbus, but we've never

, ever got together.
But we're working on someevents so we all can get
together from time to time andtalk about whiskey and our
passion, our love, and then alsotalk about how to make the
podcast better and that type ofthing.
So we've got the ScotchyBourbon Boys group.
There's a Facebook page, theScotchy Bourbon Boys group, my

personal page all linked to theScotchy Bourbon Boys, and then
there's the podcast also that wedo Now, in 2019, when I first
started, there were groups, butthere weren't at nowhere near as
many as there are now, when theones that I belong to, the ones

I belong to the most, I just,every single week, I can go on
and be a part of more and moreand more and more and more
groups.
There are groups associated withdifferent bourbons.
For instance, buffalo Trace.
There's a group for what doesBuffalo Trace have today?
So there's some strictly onlinegroups.
And then there are groups thatare local that you can find, for

instance, the GreaterCincinnati Whiskey Association.
So you got got in, you know, sothat one is for Cincinnati in
the Kentucky.
It has Cincinnati and Kentuckymembers.
There's the Central OhioBourbon, the Central Ohio

Bourbon Association, there's theWisco Bourbon Co, there's
Wisconsin Bourbon Club and sonow some of the clubs exist and
they get together and havemeetings and they do barrel
picks and that type of thing.
Then some of the clubs gettogethers, do tastings.
Now there are, you know,societies, whiskey societies.

Now that is something that'sbeen around for a long time the
whiskey society, for a long time, the Whiskey Society.
So I've been asked to talk atdifferent bourbon clubs.
So throughout the state I gothere, we do usually do a live
podcast or a Facebook livechecking in from the places that

we are, like if we're with aclub and they're doing some sort
of tasting.
We've been with northeastbourbon association, uh,
northeast ohio bourbonassociation, and then we were
also central ohio bourbon and Imean.

So I've got to meet a lot ofthe admins and that type of
things and we go around to thedifferent clubs but the
different clubs also when theywhen they have these groups and
they have these meetings, theysome some have monthly meetings
and when they have the monthlymeetings they get the
distributors or the people fromthe distilleries to come up and

talk Some for instance, ct justwas with a group that brought
Bernie Lubbers up.
A lot of times the groups bringthe featured people up and they
do a charity type thing.
So like I'm going to be at forcharity, I'm going to be at the
Steel Valley Whiskey BourbonAssociates Association, the
(13:09):
Steel Valley Bourbon Association, up in Youngstown for that.
So they, a lot of the groups,do try and do a lot of good.
They raise money for charitiesand then they also get together
taste different bourbons, talkabout it, and then a lot of
groups will do barrel picks.
They do the barrel picksthrough the state and then the
(13:30):
members have first access atthose barrel picks.
So a lot of groups CT belongsto a group that does massive
amount of barrel picks We'vedone barrel picks also.
We've done it with Elijah Craig, we've done barrel pick with
Knob Creek and so you know we'vehad different, so we've had
(13:56):
different picks.
They've been highly successful.
It's very difficult to dobecause of the process to do
them, but that's a big part offorming groups Now I have.
Then there's the elite clubs andgroups.
For instance, the ScotchyBourbon Boys has the Crystal
(14:18):
Glen Cairn Club.
The Crystal Glen Cairn offeredUm, it's been offered two
memberships a year and right nowwe have four people who have
bought the memberships.
It comes with barrel picks, acrystal Glen Karen t-shirts, the
Crystal Glen Karen.

If you're a really good friendof the podcast that's been on
for instance Stacy Pritchardwho's on tonight, she has one.
Then there's also GregSchneider has one.

So if you've been on thepodcast many times, there's a
good chance that you've got andyou're a friend, that you've got

So this club is exquisite.
Once a year I get together withthe club.
I've been trying to do it, butnow that we've got, I believe,
five people in it plus anybodywho's got a Glen, that's
received it as a friend and I'mgonna try and do a tasting at my

house.
Try and get everybody to comedown.
See if I can get a bunch ofpeople to come and do it, and
we'll do some exquisite uhtastings.
So that's the key to thiscrystal glen karen club.
You've got the crystal glenkaren, you've gotten the barrel
picks uh, that's really kind ofcool.
But then you're part of a clubthat you've joined and it's now

your.
Every year you can come to oneof the events.
Now another club the old cartersocial club.
Now the old carter social club.
Now the Old Carter Social Clubis with Old Carter.
You pay a membership fee.
It's very, very elite.
And then you get offeredspecial bottles throughout the

year for purchase.
You don't have to buy thebottles but everybody has
lockers.
They can put them in, they cancome pick them up.
But if they purchase one, theypay for it.
It gets put in their locker.
Pick it up whenever you want to.
When you're at the social clubyou can go from.
You know, drink from the locker, you know sip from the locker.

So that's a really cool thing.
Now there's also the DistillersClub here in Canton, ohio, and
there's a lot of them, not inCanton but in here.
Gervasi Spirits has just donethe Distillers Club.
It's $300 to join and it's fourevents throughout the year.

And this year we picked themash bill.
This next June 6th meeting onFriday June 6th we are going to
cook and the mash bill and thenput it and get it fermenting and
then the next one will bedistilling and then the final
one will be bottling and it'sthe.

You get to do that with thedistiller at Gervasi on their
hybrid pot still, column still,and Shea Pridemore did it.
You got a bottle, one of theirbarrel picks for joining.
You got a specific tastingglass and a T-shirt.

So those are the kind of thingsthat clubs have and there's so
many different places.
So Caroline Gosh says the clubshe hosts is a tasting group.
They have two to three events amonth.
Class is 25 to 35 for four tosix.
Three to four.
We have distribution anddistillery reps as guests.
We also have events that arethemed with decoration, games

and prizes.
I mean three to a month.
Two to three events a month.
That was.
That's crazy.
The way time goes, carolyn.
That is nuts, but anyways,sounds great.
It sounds like I need to get upby you.
Carolyn's group is up north ofus, so sounds like a lot of fun.

My my thing is is, if I gosomeplace, like uh going to
youngstone, I always have tobasically, uh, people want to do
um, want you to try and taste alot, because we taste so much
on the podcast you could haveoffered a lot of stuff to taste
and you really got to watch it,especially like like on tomorrow
night with the tasting, andthen I got to drive 50 minutes

home.
So those are a lot of things Idon't like to have very much the
way under the legal limit ofalcohol in my system when I
leave.
So those are the kind of thingsthat you got to do.
When you do this, you're notyou're leading a taste, that you
might be leading the tasting,but you're not doing a lot of
tasting.
You're kind of doing tonguedipping.

So that's kind of cool.
But the Facebooks we covered theFacebook groups.
I mean Facebook groups aregreat because you can be a part
of the group.
You get all the updates,especially here.
I love our group.
We're over 2, 2000.
I can't believe it.
Um, we, it's 2000 vetted people.

We don't just let anybody inthere.
We try and keep out the scammersand that's one of the things.
If you do belong to a group onFacebook, you have to watch out
people who who spam the site,telling you either to go to
another group or to buy this.

This is a great place to go tobuy your whiskey, because when
they're spamming like that, thatis usually scamming.
Spamming equals scamming.
So anybody out there if youbelong to a group and somebody's
in there trying to sell in theScotchy Bourbon Boys group, it's
spectacularly straight up.

It says no selling when theyagree to be in the group, do you
agree to no selling?
And then on the bottom, theyhave to.
It's reiterated.
That's two of my rules.
You cannot sell in the groupPeople try.
If they're in, they're kickedout immediately.
So that's inviting people, thattype of thing.
So that part of the group iskind of cool.

But to have 2,000 people fromaround the world initially, when
we started this, the podcastand you've got the original, I
think it's 13, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9,10, 11, 12, 13 states where
people joined the ScotchyBourbon Boys.
Since then we are in all 50states Plus we are in over 135

countries that people listen tothe podcast.
So very, very exciting.
Now Tim Dance says he's themember.
He's based on the meetingformats.
Yes, you can.
It's great that when you bringin people for instance, we've
done tastings at the Barrel Roomwith Penelope.

We've done tastings withChicken Cock with Greg Schneider
we brought them in.
We haven't done that latelybecause of the fact that the
podcast has been pretty intense.
Plus, we're just getting intothe tasting season.
But I'm thinking, if we do thisScotchy Bourbon Boys Crystal

Glen Caring Club, when we dothat, what's going to happen
there is we're going to be ableto bring some people in that are
in it that will be able toanswer questions, your questions
, about distilling.
I believe that it will be aneducational night and a very fun

night and the way to get in isto have one of these Crystal
Glen Cairns.
Anybody who has one will beallowed to be in if they have
one and they'll be invited.
So I'm thinking sometime inJuly.

One of the other things that Iwanted to talk about is it's not

In India, several organizationsand clubs cater to whiskey
enthusiasts, including bourbonaficionados.
Two notable examples are thedram club and the single malt
amateur club.
The dram club is based in muabi, aims to make whiskey
accessible and enjoyable for all, offering events, master

classes and even a deliveryservice for single malts and
whiskeys.
They also have an app withcity-wise, priceless and
personalized recommendations.
Now the Single Malt AmateurClub based in Bangalore, smac.
Bangalore SMAC is a long timestanding club for single malt

enthusiasts, offering acommunity for sharing
experiences and knowledge.
One of the mentions on Man'sWorld India said that they are
the most active association ofsingle malt lovers in India and
have been featured in WhiskeyAdvocate's top whiskey clubs.
They also conduct an annualpoll to rank the best Indian
single malts.
So Whiskey Advocate, while nota club, whiskey Advocate is a

prominent resource for whiskeyenthusiasts, including those in
India, with articles andrankings of both Indian and
international whiskeys.
So it's really kind of cool umthe the clubs.
And it's fun because the dramclub, I believe, is not only its

own club Yep, you just hit itand you can be part of it.
It talks about all thedifferent whiskey experiences,
and whiskey in India is huge, soI like to usually think a lot
less international when it comesto clubs and and uh societies.

Now, the societies there's alot of them in kentucky, because
that's the.
When it comes to bourbonsociety that, um, um.
So walker's trying to tell me,let's see, the general platform
is still whiskey.

No Whiskey, I say service andmalts, let's see, I went there
Exclusive, immersive togetherExperiences, india's most

vibrant and whiskey computer.
Yeah, don't, I'm not thegreatest when it comes to to
having uh, uh, middle eastern oreastern uh language.
I barely am able to even speakum english, let alone uh, come

up with all the different.
So, let's see, there's just somany different ones out there.
It's kind of cool.
I mean, honestly, the differentuh strong whiskey is the best.
Merrick is like he likes jackdaniels and it's peace man.
He likes the.
Obviously he likes whiskey weedalso along with good whiskey,

which is kind of a cool thing ifthat's what tricks your trigger

Then we also have the ScotchMalt Whiskey Society.
I mean, you're talking aboutScotland.
Whiskey Advocate really is adriver of all the different

great large clubs going on.
You've got that going on thereand then here, I believe, uh,
bourbon groups.
So you know, uh, yeah, firstthing, all right.
So one of them are here in allin, in just little canton ohio.

There's the canton bourbon boys, there's the scotchy bourbon
boys, so we, and then you know,cleveland bourbon club, the
bourbon club, the bourbonoutfitters uh, facebook group.
Bourbon lovers uh, privategroup, let's see, so there's
many groups in Ohio.
We have so many different ones.

Okay, all right, that's becauselet's go back to Safari.
We have Northeast Ohio, centralOhio, all the different clubs
throughout and they do a reallygood job up here.
And one of the things that ifyou're not in a club, you really
should get into a club likewalker.

When you go out to arizona, youshould be right away getting
into a bourbon or whiskey clubout there.
It's a great way to meet people, bourbon people, from what I
everything.
Why I love the clubs and I lovewhiskey is because whiskey and
bourbon people are usually downto earth, super awesome people.

I find that I've had, I've beenin a lot of different uh, uh,
what would you say?
Social groups of like.
Uh, when, as a fine artist, Ijoined a lot of art groups, I
did a lot of gallery-type stuff.
I also was part of the FirstFriday here for about 25, it

would be two years.
I was part of the First Friday,every first Friday of the month
, displaying my artwork andgetting to know the people in
the art community and the artcommunity.
Once again, my friends were myfriends, good people.
But there was also a lot ofpolitics, a lot of gate opening

type stuff that you had to knowthe right people to get through
the right gates to be able to doit.
But when it came to the bourbonindustry, the doors are open.
The people are fantastic.
You spend time with them.
You spend quality time eitherin their establishments or even

in their houses.
One of the things that theFrankfurt Bourbon Club meets and
I've met great people therethey offer when I come down to
stay at their houses.
You're not always taking uppeople on it, but the offer's
there.
It's kind of cool.
Now there are some bourbonclubs that actually have brick

and mortar and that's reallykind of a cool thing too.
We've got two of them here inCanton.
I'm trying to.
You know I've got grandkids andkids and whatnot.
So I try and do as much as Ican here in Ohio with but with
the podcast um, we got, we gotsomeone from Brazil.

We've got people from let's seewhere Merrick was from.

Um, we got someone like I saiduh, robinson, rob.
We got someone, like I said,robinson from Brazil.

So the groups are really whatwould you say?
The groups that are there inthe podcast and the podcast
groups.
For instance, cleveland on theRocks, it's got its own group.
The people there do whatever upin Cleveland with Matt and

we've combined our people.
So when we meet and gettogether we've had tastings,
we've been up there, had events,so it's really kind of a way to
get to know people that havethe love of bourbon and whiskey
and they know how they'reresponsible.
You have a good time, thingsdon't get out of hand, you just

really have.
It's just a really good.
Uh, what would you say?
Social friendship group?
I mean, it's just, it's.
It's the definition of livinglife good, it's entertaining,
you have good times.

So, the Scotchy Bourbon Boysthis past we have our annual bus
tour, we have our Christmasparty and then we also had a
tasting in last year and we'llprobably have the Crystal Glen
Caring Club this year andanother bourbon tasting and with
you know, with that it's just Igot to do the tastings for the

group because I just have somuch whiskey I like to share it.
It's no, if I don't do thetastings, nobody's going to
drink this.
I've tasted most of everythingI have and you know that's just
how.
That's how it's going.
So the groups also.
In my opinion, with the adventof facebook, this is when you

look at the bourbon boom, thereal bourbon boom it coincides
with facebook.
People at first first wereselling whiskey on Facebook till
Facebook cracked down on it,and there still is.
Everybody was cracking downbecause it's illegal to sell.
But that was the first thingwhen everybody started talking
and they were talking andselling and doing this and what,

and then the crackdown happenedand then everybody was
belonging to the groups.
Everybody started doing it morelegally as far as getting their
barrel picks to their membersand that type of thing.
So it's really kind of cool andI really think the societies
have always been there.
The clubs probably have tripledsince the bourbon boom and the

bourbon groups it's insane.
It's across the whole world, sothere's thousands upon
thousands of bourbon groups.
So the first thing I do, ifyou're getting into bourbon, the
first thing I do is find abourbon group near you and start
meeting people and sharing yourwhiskey and bourbon experiences
.
That's just how bourbon groupsyou know the importance of

bourbon groups coming up.
Now I do believe I have 109.

I have the groups OHLQ, I mean,on the OHLQ website.
They actually have on thewebsite.

They have a thing that wasApril of 18 of 20.
I need to get on the website ofthe OHLQ Spirit Societies in
Ohio the Whiskey Girls of ErieShores, central Ohio Whiskey
Society, ohio Rum Society,bourbon Women and Whiskey Women

Fisher Wine and Spirits ProofSocial Club formed by the Grand
MBA Ohio State University.
Bourbon Club of North CentralOhio.
Even the state of Ohiorecognizes the importance of the
bourbon clubs and so they'rehuge and they are 100% behind

this power whiskey comeback andthen also, as they say, the
whiskey boom.
100% is through the groups and100% you have to.
If you haven't yet, you need tojoin our group.
Our group is the ScotchyBourbon Boys.

But the group is vetted and weare 2,000 strong and when you
join our group you're probably agood chance not going to get
spammed.

I try and vet the most as I can, but I have 5,000 friends now

the same way.
But if anybody spams it, I seeit, delete it and block that
person almost immediately.
So it's a little bit differentexperience if you join the
Scotchy Bourbon Boys.
But any group that I shared totonight and I mentioned already

I, I, I belong to, many, manyto, and we appreciate everybody
who allows us to um promotewhiskey within their groups.

Each category has an assignedamount of knocks.
The nose and the body can getup to four knocks, and the taste

add an extra to one category, aba-da-ba for a total of 19 out

It's been open for a little bit, walker, let's just go over a
little bit of a story about this.
Walker, when he got this and wesaw each other, probably I would
say it was I want to sayFebruary.

It was March when we did theJack Daniels thing, we came down
I saw Walker and he broughtthis bottle for us, for me to
taste, and then said that heneeded it or whatever.

bottle and, uh, it was verygenerous to um, let me obtain
this.
And I opened this.
And the nose from a distance isso, oh my God, now the 15, I
felt when I first opened it.

This is a little bit.
It was a little bit oaky.
But when I saw him the nexttime and Walker was brought the
bottle and surprised me, it nowhas really opened up.

You don't have to heat up, youhold it there.
You look at your whiskey Uh,you can tell viscosity on the
glass.

But well, maybe I am.

Wow, that's the first time Ithink I ever got a really good
spin.
All right, so the nose isfantastic and if you put the
glint on the side and you canroll it on with the right amount
, you can't overfill it, but youcan roll it on the actual,

which coats the whole glass.
Come on back here and then whenyou hold it up, you can see
what the legs do.
This particular one isbasically wow, long, thick legs.
It doesn't take long for thatto drop in.

It's weird.
It's sticking to other partsand doing some, but what it did
on the inside of the glass isit's just got big, long, the
full length, dropping back downinto the pool of sunshine as the
whiskey.

So this won't have a palateshock, but the nose is caramel.

you get a nice oaky char flavorbut then the great hug
throughout with a nice littlepepper spice, but the vanilla
and the caramel and the littlebit maybe cherry in the back

So we're looking at four, nine,whatever?
Now the taste, with the vanillaup front and the caramel, it's

They're just so long and drippy, just right there.

your whiskey, a little bit ofpepper spice, but you also want
the flavor to come through, thisis the epitome of a really,

really a well-aged bourbon, Iwould say, compared to pappy,
pappy van winkle, 15 year, whichis fantastic, but pappy van
winkle doesn't have the spice,nor does it have uh.
It doesn't have the spice andit doesn't have, uh, the little

bit of the barrel and charUsually.
Usually I love Pappy Van Winkle, 15 year.
I love the caramel.
It's just so rich.
But this is more of a whiskeyand aged whiskey lovers Whiskey.
This is something that I wouldlove to smoke.
If you to smoke a cigar with, Iwill smoke a cigar with it.
