Speaker 1 (00:37):
Anker's upsells it full. I'm listen, Gas, how.

Speaker 2 (00:41):
Are you doing today?

Speaker 1 (00:44):
All right?

Speaker 3 (00:45):
How doing?

Speaker 1 (00:45):
Jerk?

Speaker 2 (00:46):
God good doing good? Figure s.

Speaker 1 (00:54):
All right, okay, just vibe check. How'd you like the game?

Speaker 2 (01:01):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (01:02):
It was a good weekend. It was a good weekend
for the city of Columbus. Okay, sneaky sneak freeds you
to to.

Speaker 2 (01:14):
U Kyle squarteron. But that's that's like forty minutes from now.

Speaker 1 (01:18):
It's going to.

Speaker 2 (01:18):
Behave ourselves, which we should try and behave ourselves. We've
been never we've been. We've been slowly inflating.

Speaker 1 (01:26):
As the season gets we have good things back in
So overall I thought it was thought it was exactly
kind of where I thought it was going to be,
minus the the extra touchdown Penn State got just unfortunate
unfortunate turnover posts. Honest say, kind of where I thought

(01:48):
I thought it was going to be. To send my
close in the first half, like fourteen seventeen to seven
something like that, that kind of hanging around, hanging out,
and then all of a sudden, just like hey, defense,
let's hey. Uh Patricia just goes in and says, hey, defense,
we're just gonna make these changes here, we're gonna we're
gonna stop what's making them successful aka turning the ball

(02:12):
over and uh yeah, and we saw it. Twenty one
twenty one straight points in the second half and just
absolute dominance, absolute dominance. Like like there were some people asking,
like asking asking me, uh today on Sunday, like what why,

(02:34):
Like tell me tell me how House State really looked
this good? Like how did they end up winning? Winning
by this much? And I said, honestly, it's like it's
a tale of two halves here. Penn State one hundred
and forty yards in the first half, averaging four point
four yards per play, in the second half merely sixty

(02:57):
sixty yards. Yeah, I know, four goals, yes, four goals,
go crew and it is final uh sixty yards and
Jared eighteen yards in the third quarter eighteen yards and
third quarter forty two in the fourth quarter. That's the

(03:19):
difference right there. I mean, you see, they found some
they found some momentum. In the second quarter. They had
a they had a nice long drive. Let me let
me find the drive. They had a nice long drive
that fifteen plays, seventy five yards. Yep, that'll do it
right there. They took almost eight minutes off there, and
then they had a short field couple of drives later

(03:42):
to to to get fourteen points. And outside of that
and then honest minus the last drive, which is kind
of like eh suarreed like there was a lot of
a lot of other State players in there in that
last drive, Like they had a starters, they were they

(04:06):
were trading in and out. I mean, yeah, there was
a good amount there was a good amount of starters
still in there. But uh, yeah, it tail two halves
and you can really say, oh, they had like one
good drive and sure, I.

Speaker 2 (04:22):
Don't even think it's fair to say two halves. I
think Penn State had like eight good minutes.

Speaker 1 (04:30):
Sure we'll give it. We'll give him ten minutes. We'll
give him ten minutes with the the second drives, So
ten minutes out of the sixty.

Speaker 2 (04:40):
Yeah, the Ohio State won the other fifty minutes.

Speaker 1 (04:44):
Yep.

Speaker 2 (04:45):
I mean that's that's that's what it boils down to.
And you know, Penn State, I think this is a
game in which they shutout was possible. Penn State scores
fourteen points. Good job Penn State, because even if we say, oh, well,
the second touchdown, they had a really short field. Okay,
but the defense like created that. Like the defense created

(05:08):
that turnover. That was a great play by everyone involved
on the defense by Penn State. Yeah, you know this
is a really talented defense.

Speaker 1 (05:19):
Yes, that's very talented. I think a lot of people
would just look at look at Penn State. Oh they
have four losses, now, five losses in a row. Now,
h They'll just look at the They'll look at the
overall record like this is a bad Penn State team.
It's badly coached Penn State team is still this is

(05:40):
still a very talented especially more so on the defensive side.
And the season just got away, is just got away
for them, and have some players just kind of said, eh,
what out what else?

Speaker 2 (05:52):
I don't know, there are players, there are players on
that team who are going at it half heartedly. That
means there are some players who are not going at
it half heartedly. But I think on the defense, especially
there are some really talented guys kind of going through
the motions. But you know, I tell you what, there
are a lot of guys, like I said, who are not.

(06:16):
I thought Allen, considering what he was given opportunity wise
by the offense, had a really good game I think
he's a I think he's an excellent running back. I
think he has an excellent future in the NFL.

Speaker 1 (06:32):
Amari Campbell on the linebacker, had a really good game too.
I thought he played really well as well. Yeah, So,
like I said, this is this is a team in
which they aren't great coach. The season, as Kyle said,
got away from them, and you know it just kind of.

Speaker 2 (06:53):
It's it's got to be hard to show up every
day and didn't do all the things you need to
do seven days a week when the season's gone the
way it has h all right, Kyle, we said we
need to stop inflating. And then we spent six I.

Speaker 1 (07:11):
Mean we allocate I mean we allocated about seven seven
to ten minutes, just kind of our overview thoughts before
we go to the report cards. So we're all track,
We're good, We're good. All right, let's start.

Speaker 2 (07:25):
Let's start all we need split screens on the on
the screen like we're speed runners, all right?

Speaker 1 (07:33):
Offense? Game plan are how are we going to grade
them out? Game plan? Well? A A absolutely A. I
really liked, really liked what I saw Julian is saying,
is just balling his butt off, right, now, just absolutely,

(07:58):
and you Ohio State started their campaign this Sunday here
saying Heisman, Julian saying Heisman. They started their their campaign
for Julian saying now and rightfully so like he is,
he is just playing lights out and he's he's getting

(08:18):
enough attention. But I don't think he's getting enough if
you catch, if you're catch kind of what I'm what
I'm trying to say here, Like he's throwing. I have
to pull up the numbers where where he stands offensively
in terms of numbers. But we'll get to the quarterbacks, Kyle.
We're not we're not in the quarterback section. We can
get there.

Speaker 2 (08:38):
I'm gonna go a plan A plus because I felt
like they were I'm happy that they're letting Julian sling
it and it's and it's paying off.

Speaker 1 (08:51):
Yeah, and again, this is an.

Speaker 2 (08:52):
Incredibly talent We're talking about the offense right now, and
this is an incredibly talented Penn State defense like that
that has to be said.

Speaker 1 (09:02):
Five plays of twenty plus yards in the air, letting
him sling it, like you said in game coaching.

Speaker 2 (09:09):
Remember when there were people talking about how he didn't
have a deep ball.

Speaker 1 (09:14):
Yeah, earlier in the season. Yeah, I got a lot
to say about the quarterbacks here, but before that, in
game coaching A plus, I gotta give, I gotta give
an a plus. The you saw the change, especially at halftime,
like you know what, No, we're screwing around, We're gonna
we're gonna shut them out and shut out they did,

(09:35):
and well we're talking to the office. Yeah, okay. Offensively, yeah,
I mean, look here, one hundred and forty two yards
in the first quarter, seventy nine in the second, third quarter,
one hundred and forty four yards just like they did
in the first quarter. One hundred and fifteen yards in
the in the second or the fourth quarter as well?

(09:55):
To eight point two yards is that what it was? Yeah?
Eight point two yards per play in the fourth quarter? Wow?

Speaker 2 (10:08):
Yeah? And when was the first punt? Was it the
fourth quarter or maybe late in the third.

Speaker 1 (10:15):
Let's see, it was the first play of the fourth quarter.

Speaker 2 (10:19):
Okay, okay, So I mean they failed to convert technically
in the third quarter then yeah, okay. But still again,
it has to be said, there is an incredibly talented
Penn State defense and Ohio sake, didn't take their foot
off the pedal too early, like I've criticized them for
doing in the past on offense. Yeah, and they kept

(10:39):
slinging it in the third quarter, at which I was
happy to see.

Speaker 1 (10:43):
And that was weird. It was like third in four
or something like that. It was like third and four
and then all of a sudden, like they ran the ball.

Speaker 2 (10:58):
It was really they started weird. They started their fourth
down or their fourth quarter offense, little little soon on
that one quarterbacks.

Speaker 1 (11:10):
A plus. I mean, if you can put pluses, just
go a clear across the screen. Let's let's go ahead
and do that. Twenty for twenty three. Yeah, there you go,
twenty for twenty three. And I wanted to make sure
I have this down. He had three incompletions more touchdowns
he did in completions. Two of those incompletions were throwaways.

(11:36):
Got out of the pocket and threw them away, and
one of them was off the fingertips of Brandon Innis.

Speaker 2 (11:44):
Which was a bad pass to be clear. Sure, Okay,
did just get his hands on it? Y? Yes, yes, yes, yes,
I'm just saying, let's not just put that on in us.

Speaker 1 (11:53):
Yeah, I think that I think I wasn't. I wasn't
saying Yeah, I wasn't saying it was on Julian Sane.
It was just on the finger or I'm sorry, not
on Innis. It was off the fingertips. Yeah, it was.

Speaker 3 (12:05):
It was.

Speaker 1 (12:06):
It was Julie Sayan's only bad pass of the entire game,
which is ridiculous.

Speaker 2 (12:12):
Yes, that that that I'll agree with.

Speaker 1 (12:14):
Yeah, and and and let's let's not go let's not
even there was that line of scrimmage ended up for
a touchdown. Well, you know, we might and then maybe
you give that one to Smith. He could he could
have had five touchdowns here. You could have had five

(12:35):
touchdowns if the defender, which tight end was it didn't
hold on to one of the tight ends. I'm drawing,
like which one it is.

Speaker 2 (12:47):
I think that was perfectly thrown like he was past
over the middle. Yeah, it was a perfect penalty on
Penn State's part too, because he was beat.

Speaker 1 (12:58):
Well, I mean ended up for going to a touchdown
anyways to somebody else, get driving, Okay, but you get
the point. I get you, like I got you all right,
Run block run block, next tier next.

Speaker 2 (13:12):
Penn State has a very good defensive line. Let's say
that very good. Let's let's let's let's let's grade on
an appropriate curve here. Penn State has a very good
defensive line, said, their run stop has not necessarily been
a strength this year, So you would expect a decent

(13:33):
amount from Ohio State.

Speaker 1 (13:37):
Three point five yards per carry in the first quarter,
just over three in the second quarter, just over two
yards of carry in the third, and then about nine
yards per carry in the fourth quarter.

Speaker 2 (13:54):
Yeah, they they helped themselves a lot in the.

Speaker 1 (13:59):
Yeah, I'll give them. I'll give them an a minus.
I say an a minus, uh, being the defense that
they went up to get knowing is gonna be tough
s let in and we even said like, like you
need to you need to attack their weakness. You don't
want to run it down down there, down their throat,

(14:19):
because I think it was what was it the very
first uh, the very first play, I want to say, Jared,
was I went for was it negative York? Now I'm
thinking of a different, different drive though either way, like you,

(14:40):
I could have sworn it was never mind there there
was definitely quite a bit of negative place in this one.
How many how many did Penn State had? They had
four plays, they had four tackle for losses, all of
them were on run plays. I think I think they
had they had quite a bit, especially on that first drive. Yeah,

(15:02):
they had half of them, two of them on that
first drive there. So yeah, gotta still clean that up.
But overall pretty pleased with who what I from what
I saw.

Speaker 2 (15:16):
Yeah, the average over five a carry, bo Jackson over
eight a carry. Of course, he broke a long one,
which helps out with that a lot. That being said,
he was the only individual running back over five per carry.
Although people's got close. It was, you know, it was
kind of garbage time, but he got close with four

(15:39):
point eight. Yeah, I think is appropriate.

Speaker 1 (15:44):
Julian's hand had a very important run. I think it
was on third down. It was it like third and five,
made an excellent decision to tuck it and run like
that was yeah. Yeah, all right, before we go to
pass Bock, it's going to take our first ad break
real quick, and then we will continue on with our grading. Here.

(16:27):
take that ad break and be right back, all.

Speaker 2 (16:33):
Right, col uh pass plucking A plus A plus zero
zero sacks has removed. He was moved out of the
pocket against his will several times. To Julian Sayan's credit,
he is very good at moving in the pocket. He

(16:54):
knows when to leave the pocket, he knows how to
leave the pocket, he knows when to step up into
the pocket. But he he did on several occasions have
to avoid rushers by moving around in the pocket.

Speaker 1 (17:05):
I'm not going to give him.

Speaker 2 (17:06):
I'm not going to give him an A plus.

Speaker 1 (17:08):
I'll give him an A plus I for what Yeah
he did, he did draw roughing the passer penalty too. Yes,
he took a couple of shots in this game for
for what defense, especially that defensive line that had to
go up against. I was very very pleased from what
I saw. Yes, that was it was. There a few

(17:29):
plays that he had to move around and all that, sure, sure,
but overall, I'm very pleased. I'm I will give I
will give the past block that plus behind the A.

Speaker 2 (17:44):
Yeah, I'm I'm gonna put a minus.

Speaker 1 (17:47):
All right, Personally, all right running, I'll say an A.
I'll say an a. Uh. When they were able to
get loose, and we saw that with Bo Jackson, we
I think Bo Jackson might be back, might be might
be fully or nearly healthy there. It made some really
nice cuts.

Speaker 2 (18:08):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (18:09):
I liked what I saw from Isaiah West at times.

Speaker 3 (18:12):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (18:13):
I mean, a lot of people are gonna hark on
c J. Donaldson, especially with the fumble. He'll be fine.
He's He's the type of running back that State needs
in the short yardage time. But I think it's I
think it's Bo and Isaiah's as the one too, and
then CJ come in for the for the bruiser type

(18:37):
of running back. But overall, yeah, I say, I'll say
an A, I'm gonna go be.

Speaker 2 (18:43):
But Jackson gets like an A, but the rest of
the running back room gets.

Speaker 1 (18:48):
Like a C.

Speaker 2 (18:49):
So I'm gonna I'm gonna put it a be.

Speaker 1 (18:52):
All right. I like Isaiah West.

Speaker 2 (18:54):
I think he has a great future. He didn't run
great this game. Is that on the offensive line and
not him maybe, But you know again, people's had four
point eight, which is which is good. But again it
was in junk time. Penn State was tired and over
at that point.

Speaker 3 (19:14):
C J.

Speaker 2 (19:14):
Donaldson costly fumble only two point four, Isaiah West only
three point three.

Speaker 3 (19:23):
Not a.

Speaker 2 (19:25):
Not a great performance overall in the running back room,
which again I think the run blocking probably gets its
fair set of criticism on as well. But also just
Penn State does is very talented in the front seven,
I mean across the entire defense, really.

Speaker 1 (19:46):
All right, receiving a plus. Yeah, no drop, no again,
no drops, yep, there you got no drops by these receivers.

Speaker 2 (19:57):
We're just gonna do that again. U. What else can
be said about Jerwhi Smith and Cartnell Tate at this point.

Speaker 1 (20:05):
Through to them, both of them eleven eleven targets, eleven catches,
two hundred and forty seven yards, and three touchdowns, and
both of them had fifty seven yard receptions each, which
I thought was kind of funny. They both had a

(20:26):
fifty seven yard.

Speaker 2 (20:28):
And even and like Brennan in his average ten yards
of reception on four separate receptions, Bennett Christian gets a touchdown.
Max Claire, as you pointed out, not a good day
on the stat sheet for Max Claire, but like as
you pointed out, had a touchdown down the seam and

(20:48):
forced a pass interference that got a first down. So
you know, there's no room on the stat sheet for
a play like that, but it happened. Tata is so
good on contested catches. Yeah, absolutely, Uh, drives and conversions,

(21:10):
didn't punt until the fourth quarter only I gotta give
only settled for a field goal once.

Speaker 1 (21:18):
Yeah, I got to give an a. I gotta give
an a. This was as near perfect as as you
can get here. Uh, six for nine sixty seven in
third down conversions against a pretty talented defense here, Yeah,
I'll give I'll give a solid A here.

Speaker 2 (21:40):
Absolutely I'll go I'll go a plus. Like again, incredibly
talented defense, maybe the best defensive coordinator in college football,
and Ohio State made them look like Ohio Oh I
say Midpenin's that looked like a look like a Max school.

Speaker 1 (22:02):
In explosiveness, I got to give an a for explosiveness
as well. I want to guess how many exp hold on?

Speaker 2 (22:10):
Is it just an a?

Speaker 1 (22:12):
How many? How many explosive plays do you think Ohio
State had? And when I say explosive plays, that that's
gonna be fifteen or more yards passing and on the
rushing it will be ten yards or more. I don't care.

Speaker 2 (22:25):
Here, here's what I'll tell you. Ohio states two wide
receivers both averaged over twenty yards of reception. Ohio States,
two top wide receivers both averaged over twenty yards per
reception on eleven total catches between the two of them.

Speaker 1 (22:51):
Is that pretty good, Jared?

Speaker 2 (22:53):
Yeah, that's pretty good. Then you have Bo Jackson with
a fifty yard run. When your top two wide receivers
and it's not just scaled because they had one or
two catches, they had eleven total catches between the two
of them are averaging twenty yards a catch. That's explosiveness.

Speaker 1 (23:14):
The answer is ten. The answer is ten explosive plays.
So yeah, go ahead and add the plus in front
of mine.

Speaker 2 (23:23):
Hold on, Can I do this again again? This is
a really good Penn State pass defense. I'm doing this.

Speaker 1 (23:29):
You threw for three hundred and sixteen yards, three hundred
and sixteen yards.

Speaker 2 (23:39):
Where were they rusing Julian sixty Julian three sixteen?

Speaker 1 (23:44):
This is this is a defense Jared that we're averaging
one hundred and fifty three yards per game, fifth best
in the country, averaging five point eight yards per pass,
which is tenth in the country and they averaged what again,
fifteen point eight?

Speaker 2 (24:05):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (24:06):
Wow, yeah, all right, let's move on to defense.

Speaker 2 (24:11):
Let's move on to the defense.

Speaker 1 (24:13):
A game plan, I'll give an A. I'll give an A.
I I knew, knew that they're going to have to
be They're gonna have to put Penn State into a
tough position, situations where they're gonna have to pass the ball.
And I mean give credit to Grunkmeyer. He completed sixty
eight percent one interception, but he's he was completing passes

(24:37):
when he needed to.

Speaker 2 (24:39):
UH.

Speaker 1 (24:40):
But there were there were times that High State had
a hard time stopping uh. Singleton a special on the
receiving side. There always seemed like they were able to
get it to him on third downs or or important
important place to get a first down. And Allen had
himself a pretty good especially the first quarter, had himself

(25:03):
a pretty good first half UH and then turned that around.
So I was saying A, I was saying A. Overall
for the game plan, I'm.

Speaker 2 (25:12):
Gonna say B plus. I think they started kind of slow.
But give me a second and I'll redeem that. Did
you say a minus or.

Speaker 1 (25:20):
Just a just an A. I'll give an a.

Speaker 2 (25:22):
Uh so let's let's move on to in game coaching.
But Spike's down in the chat brings up a really
good point. The second half is an A plus plus.
First half was like a B minus. I think you're
being a little harsh with the B minus. But second
half you're talking about in game coaching at that point,
which is why I am going to go a plus

(25:45):
on the in game coaching.

Speaker 1 (25:47):
Yep, absolutely, yes, they they.

Speaker 2 (25:50):
Turned it up a lot really Like Penn State had
a decent first drive, then Ohio State shut them down,
then Pence, so adjustments were made. Then Penn State had
a like an excellent, like sixteen play drive, then the

(26:11):
turnover happens and then they get another touchdown. So that
whole sequence sucks. But outside of that sequence, High State's
defense was lights out.

Speaker 1 (26:25):
They held sacks played an important role because they had
all four sacks in the four sacks in the second half.
But Penn State, on the stats, had negative twenty one
rushing yards in the second half. Yeah, tackling this is
the first game, Jared, We're tackling early on was an issue. Yes, understand,

(26:50):
Like these are two of the most talented running backs
that High State will face all year. Yeah, Alan exceptional,
Singleton very very good. So I understand, Yeah, it's gonna
be tough tackling them in open space. Under understand that.

(27:11):
But this is the first time that we've seen there
was some tackling issues.

Speaker 2 (27:15):
You you go up against Allen and there's gonna be
some tackling issues.

Speaker 1 (27:19):
Still saying that, honestly, I was still I was still
take an a. There wasn't any like, yeah, yeah, there
there really wasn't any like miss a tackle and then
he's off for a touchdown or you had you had
them and then he ran off for a twenty yard
gain or whatever.

Speaker 2 (27:39):
It was.

Speaker 1 (27:39):
More it was more of, oh, you missed him, you
should have had him in the backfield, and he got
four yards three yards something like that.

Speaker 2 (27:47):
Right, all right, run stop.

Speaker 1 (27:53):
You held Alan to three point six yards per per carry,
and you held Singleton to three yards pretty per game
per carry. Yeah, that's a that's a pretty pretty good
uh day in the office there.

Speaker 2 (28:08):
Yeah, I think I said it in the discord. At
some point today, it felt like Alan had more like
it felt like Alan had a really good game, and
I was surprised to see that he only had three
point six he's averaging.

Speaker 1 (28:26):
Before this game, he was averaging six point two five
yards per carry and pretty much half that almost half that. Yeah,
so I'm good with I'm good with an a all
right pass rush. Four sacks.

Speaker 2 (28:48):
On the second half, they were who who got the sacks?
Were they all on blitzes?

Speaker 1 (28:57):
Let's see here, Let's see, uh, Reese had one, Jackson
had Jackson had two and a half of them. It's
not to say they were He had two, Sex had two.

Speaker 2 (29:06):
Sorry, that's that's tflst.

Speaker 1 (29:08):
Rees had one, Jackson had two, and Edrear Houston had one. Yeah,
I was saying, as well, I think I think.

Speaker 2 (29:22):
As fair I will say, and not that this goes
against this by any means. I would say most or
at least half of those were like coverage Sex, which
takes us to pass coverage. You have a quarterback in everything.

(29:44):
In Rockmeier, making his second ever start, he did unlike
his game against Iowa, he did have you know, a
bye week to prepare.

Speaker 3 (29:56):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (29:56):
He was put in a really tough position in Iowa
on a you know, just losing his coach and and
you know, going from a backup to a starter. You know,
he was in a real tough position going into Iowa.
With this game, he had the bye week to sort
of settle in a little bit more so we expected

(30:17):
a better performance, and he did give a better performance
than he did against Iowa. That being said, you know,
it's still I never at any point feared their passing game. Like, yeah,

(30:38):
there there may have been a series or two where
he got a couple like good passes in. He sort
of started to settle in a little bit at one point.
But their wide receivers are who their wide receivers are. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (30:55):
I feel like Ohio State was just kind of respecting
Alan and single tip and was just kind of waiting
for Penn State to try something that's going to get
them in trouble. Yeah, everything kind of in front of
them wasn't trying to be too cute or anything like that.

Speaker 2 (31:12):
Pass coverage, I'll do it, eh.

Speaker 1 (31:14):
Yeah. Uh. Impact plays, let's see Penn State in terms
of big plays. First play was Allen for twenty six yards.

Speaker 2 (31:26):
And then the other Kyle, You're I know these aren't
named well. Impact plays are like sacks, interceptions, TFLs okay,
or if you look, they they kind of line up
with the offense, where like explosiveness is next to don't

(31:49):
break and drives in conversions is next to stop this.
This is more like the defense making impact plays, not
stopping impact plays.

Speaker 1 (31:59):
For sacks, uh one interception in the end zone and
A did force fumble but didn't get that recovery though,
So I okay, I was saying A. I was saying A.
It would have been nice to get back to the
root h P s U pick six University would love

(32:22):
to have gotten back to that ah to that groove again.
But force X and a turnover. It's it's a it's
a good day in the office.

Speaker 2 (32:34):
Yeah. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (32:37):
The TfL.

Speaker 2 (32:38):
I think Kenyatta Jackson had a good impact day. I
thought Rvel Reese had a good impact day.

Speaker 3 (32:46):
You know.

Speaker 2 (32:46):
The Caleb Downs interceptions nice on the statue, but it
was on four. It was a desperation throw on fourth down,
like so it wasn't honestly that big of an impact play.
It netted them a few yards because it was a touchback,
and that was honestly about it. Yeah, Reese blow up
several screens too. Yeah, No, Reese had an impact day

(33:08):
for sure. Impact place, I think in A is fine.
I feel like we're just handing out standard days across
the entire report card here, but I feel like it's
also deserved stops.

Speaker 1 (33:21):
I think this one I'm gonna I think, I think
I will grade stops a little, a little lower here.
I'm trying to trying to find my status here. Yeah,
in the first first half, Penn State we're converting sixty
three percent of third downs and then hell them to

(33:44):
forty three percent in the second half, with a total
of just over fifty just over fifty percent, and.

Speaker 2 (33:53):
More importantly, Penn State two touchdowns in the red zone. Yeah,
you would like to have seen at least one of
those turned into a field goal.

Speaker 1 (34:05):
Yeah, I'm I'm gonna say B minus. I say B minus.
First stops okay, I went B plus. Okay, and don't
don't break plays.

Speaker 2 (34:21):
I think they did a great job here. I think
there was one run over twenty yards and one reception
over twenty yards.

Speaker 1 (34:28):
That's correct. So nay, yeah, I'll stay I'll stick with
an A in there. I agree, right, awesome, All right,
we'll get to the overall we we all need to
take our second ad break, and we will get back
to the overall gratings here again, theeslucast dot com is

Jared's wearing one from the seventy seventy one, which is
a non podcast related one, but Ohio themed, really cool designs. Again. Bye,
by yours truly, Jared.

Speaker 2 (35:39):
And I think you said yours surely if it's yeah.

Speaker 1 (35:42):
Sure, by our own, by our very own Jared. Okay,
how about that? There?

Speaker 3 (35:47):
We go?

Speaker 1 (35:49):
All right again? All of those you can find over
at the sloopcast dot com. We're goingead and take that
ad break and finish our ratings.

Speaker 2 (36:02):
All right, Kyle, overall, team grades. Let's power through these.

Speaker 1 (36:06):
In game coaching A.

Speaker 2 (36:09):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm a good plus. Is a really
good job rallying after the fumble to come out and
just bury any notion of an upset right away in
the third quarter.

Speaker 1 (36:26):
For that, I give them an a plus.

Speaker 2 (36:28):
Sure, someone in discord, and I apologize because I don't
remember who, but someone in the discord said something along
the lines of the second half felt like our playoff offense.

Speaker 4 (36:44):
And.

Speaker 2 (36:46):
It kind of felt like, I don't know how to
explain what that means other than that I agreed with them.
It was it was like the actual offense came out
to play in the third quarter as opposed to the.

Speaker 1 (37:08):
They were averaging. They were averaging six point five yards
on the ground in the second half, and we're averaging
twelve point three yards per pass. Well, you can you
can also say per pass completion, because he completed every
pass in the second half. Yeah, twelve point three yards

(37:31):
per pass attempt. Yeah, that's that is moving motivation effort. Uh,
A plus, I was saying, A plus. I'll give him
the plus here. You put didn't put any any thought
into anybody's mind once the game was over that Penn

(37:51):
State had had a chance in this game. Yeah, again.

Speaker 2 (37:57):
Yeah, Spike says, kind of looked like Penn State came
out with more motivation effort in the first half and
then we woke up.

Speaker 1 (38:03):
I don't.

Speaker 2 (38:05):
I don't agree. We talked about this earlier in the show.
If we break up the game into like ten minute chunks,
Ohio State won fifty of those minutes and Penn State
won ten of those minutes. Yep, I think that's really

(38:29):
about it.

Speaker 1 (38:31):
Exec execution, I think I think overall, yeah, the execution
was there. I'm trying. I'm trying to think if there's
anything negative. I can really say, eight point seven yards
per play against a really good defense, that's awesome, And
then you held Penn State to three point three yards

(38:53):
per play, which I think is pretty good too.

Speaker 2 (38:57):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (38:58):
I'll say, hey, I can't really think of.

Speaker 2 (39:00):
When your quarterback, when your quarterback has more touchdowns than
in completions, your offense is is executing at a high level.

Speaker 1 (39:10):
I can't.

Speaker 2 (39:11):
I think there were too many blocking mistakes for me
to give them the plus. Sure, yeah, and maybe some
defensive mistakes in that devious ten minutes.

Speaker 1 (39:27):
Sure, but motivate momentum is a thing too, sure, all right? Uh,
Discipline two penalties thirty yards. They were the cat like
kick catching interference by Oh shoot, who was that that?

(39:50):
I did that?

Speaker 2 (39:51):
Rogers, wasn't it?

Speaker 1 (39:52):
It was Rogers? Yes, And then you had the personal foul,
which I I think it should have been targeting on
Caleb Downs. I think that that's I think they would
have called that targeting last year. I'll say that that

(40:13):
was not Rogers, at least according to the stat I
have to look. According to the stats here, it is
not Rogers that.

Speaker 2 (40:22):
The status.

Speaker 1 (40:22):
It was Miles Lockhart. Do they have the same number.
I am trying to quickly pull that up. What number?
What number is Rogers? The they are the same number.

Speaker 2 (40:48):
I think we're right in the statue's wrong.

Speaker 1 (40:50):
Okay, it might be. I'll have to I'll have to
look at it again. But either way, discipline or he
got away with one.

Speaker 2 (40:57):
Did the Big Ten supposedly change the way they have
officiate targeting. That would come from the n C double A,
not the conference. But yeah, okay, there were a couple
of changes made to the interpretation of targeting.

Speaker 1 (41:14):
Yeah, so I'll say any kind of saved down there,
I'll say, I'll say as like that. No, I'll stay
with a I'll stay with a sure special teams Uh,
trying to pull this up real quick. Here's special teams,
Uh one for one on field goals which still red zone.

(41:39):
Still gotta still gotta iron out the red flags. Yeah, no,
no flags on iggy correct forty one punt for forty
three yards, which is fine. I guess it was inside
the twenty, So sure. And and no no big blunders
other than the kick cat interference, which will lower the

(42:02):
special teams down to a B for me.

Speaker 2 (42:05):
All the way for one penalty, Well, didn't really do
but they also didn't do anything to elevate it either. Yeah,
they didn't do anything, but also our expectations are basically
in the basement at this point. Yeah B, I'm gonna
I'm gonna say a B plus all right.

Speaker 1 (42:22):
Uh, turnovers evened out one to one. At No, they
didn't time out, No they didn't. Yeah, no, you're you're
the Ohio State turnover.

Speaker 2 (42:35):
I have all of the confidence in the world. I
think Ohio State had two timeouts almost two minutes. I
say it is going to go down the field the
way the wasund that fourteen switch, you're And on top
of that, as I mentioned before, when we were talking
about impact plays. Kale Down's interception came on fourth down

(42:58):
that that only got them like eight arts or where.
I don't know where Penn State was when they threw
that interception, but it basically changed the field position a
little bit from wherever it would have been inside the
twenty to the twenty because it was a touchback.

Speaker 1 (43:12):
Uh so sure, yeah, so, uh, I don't know, like
C plus C Yeah, I was thinking to C. Yeah,
I was thinking CC minus. But I'll stick with A C.

Speaker 2 (43:26):
And uh.

Speaker 1 (43:28):
Overall offense, I'm going down the line here. I'm gonna
say A plus offensively A plus, yeah.

Speaker 2 (43:40):
Considering the talent and the coaching that they were facing. Yeah,
I'm willing to go A plus here.

Speaker 1 (43:49):
All right. And defense defense, Oh oh, I got a
lot of a's there, So I'll stick with just an A.

Speaker 2 (43:58):
I'm gonna drop it to an A minus. I think
Penn State's offense is pretty bad. You aren't even getting
you know, you're getting a quarterback with his second ever start.
You know, k Tron Allen's amazing. But Singleton hasn't been
the same guy that you would have expected him to

(44:19):
be at the beginning of the season. They have no receivers.
Their offensive line is fine, it's not anything special. I
feel like Ohio States defense could have done better here.
So you know, it's only gonna be an A minus
because they were put on a short field right after

(44:44):
being on the field for a really long drive just
a moment before. That's a really tough turnaround. I'm not
gonna I'm not gonna dog him too bad for that,
So we are gonna stay at like an A minus.
But well, Penn State's defense is really good, their offense

(45:04):
is not. This is a game where they could have
got to shut out and they gave up fourteen okay
minus all right, and overall.

Speaker 1 (45:20):
Thirty four sorry thirty eight fourteen final score A solid A.
This was a I gotta have to try to say,
if I can pull up real quick here what winzipedia
real quick? Here was it's the I think this is

(45:42):
the largest Yeah, this is the largest win against Penn
State since twenty fifteen, ten years ago when they won
thirty eight to ten.

Speaker 2 (45:56):
Yeah. Yeah, Penn State's better than this. I don't hate
Penn State the way I hate Michigan, So I do
kind of want I do kind of want Penn State
to be good. So I do hope that they make
a good hire.

Speaker 1 (46:15):
Yeah. I mean we always joke around that they're not
a rival and all that, and they aren't. But I
think the conference is better, the Pig ten is better
when Penn State is good, and I hope they find
the right coach that can get them back to where
they to back to winning games.

Speaker 2 (46:36):
Yeah, all right, that is it. That is not one
of our coaches.

Speaker 1 (46:44):
I think.

Speaker 2 (46:45):
I think the idea that Brian Hartline is going to
get a like major job this offseason is wildly ever blown.
I don't think he has that experience yet. I think
I think it would be a big reach for Penn
State and for Brian Hartline, and you could also chalk

(47:09):
that up to Miami, LSU some of the other big
jobs that are out there. I think that's a big
reach for everyone involved. I think he's a year or
two away from a job like that. No, but there's
a lot of openings right now. It's a valid point.
I mean, honestly, that's a valid point. Like that many openings,

(47:32):
that many more opportunities. I'm not saying it won't happen.
I'm saying I don't think it's a I don't think
it's a good idea for anyone involved. I think he
needs another year to bake at Ohio State before he
takes on a a top tier job like Penn State, Florida, LSU.

(48:00):
Could he take a more middle job, sure, I you know,
go be. I think we talked about Cincinnati or you know,
a mid tier Big ten team. But yeah, I think
it's a big I don't think he. I don't think

(48:22):
he's ready quite yet. Give it another year before he
would before I would personally advise he'd take a job
like that. And that's where both parties involved. I just
don't think he.

Speaker 1 (48:36):
I think he.

Speaker 2 (48:36):
I think he needs another year in the oven for
that kind of a job.

Speaker 1 (48:43):
All Right, Anything else, Jared, anything else before we wrap
it up? Nope?

Speaker 2 (48:47):
What's in Kyle's corner?

Speaker 1 (48:51):
A couple of booms? A couple of the booms? Offensive
line booms?

Speaker 2 (48:58):
We had one the star of is offensive with is
offensive line recruiting fixed.

Speaker 1 (49:06):
Maybe we'll see. That's tough. Definitely definitely helps when you
get two of them in a matter of ten minutes.
You have a twenty twenty seven in state from Saint Clairsville, Mason.
Will I know a little something about that about that school. Yeah,
and uh twelve Yeah, and then another twenty twenty seven

(49:32):
commit as well from another in state from Liberty Center
Kellen Wimmer.

Speaker 2 (49:41):
There you go. We love our in state Ohio offensive lineman.
Got to secure this guy's got to lock him down. Yeah,
anything else in Kyle's.

Speaker 1 (49:53):
Corner, I think I think that's it. I think that's all.

Speaker 2 (50:00):
What about what about Hell?

Speaker 1 (50:02):
Oh yeah yeah, Hell is real for nothing. Gotta gotta
gotta keep that that same fight, that same fight against Cincinnati.
This Saturday at noon, watch watch this game in the

(50:22):
first half and maybe maybe just have that on while
I'm watching the whow State Perdue game that starts off
at not noon but one o'clock. Why have we got
an explanation as to why it's kicking off at one? No,
I have no idea. Yeah, no, it's just eight and

(50:48):
a half points, Jared. Spread is what it is.

Speaker 2 (50:51):
For the life of me, I cannot figure out why.
I don't understand why.

Speaker 1 (50:57):
It makes sense twenty eight and a half. By the way, Penn.

Speaker 2 (51:01):
State has to turn around and play Indiana this week, yeah,
where they are dogged by fourteen and a half points.

Speaker 1 (51:09):
Currently, I'm just glad this isn't a night game. Yeah, no, yeah,
don't you don't.

Speaker 2 (51:16):
That's one of our rules, right, don't play night games
in the Big ten West, even the former in the
historic Big ten West. Historic Yeah, Big ten West. We
have to amend that rule to say historic.

Speaker 3 (51:29):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (51:30):
All right, we are ten minutes over, Jared, So I
think I think we can go ahead wrap that up, Bekayle.

Speaker 2 (51:36):
I thought you said that's seven minutes at the top.
All right, Uh yeah, tonight's ending music. We're gonna go defiance, Ohio,
why not? I like to find so with all that
being said, I'd like to arger.

Speaker 3 (51:54):
This is the times made us stronger. The outcomes no
more clear, calling off to maxt sure they're we all

(52:14):
talking talking chet the field that's been home.

Speaker 1 (52:17):
You lost me about last year?

Speaker 3 (52:20):
This this this just not burst on his ass ford
hore thinking about nothing about the transmissions that are using fer.

Speaker 1 (52:27):
I remember was you wizard and I here and all
those things we tried, no hearts and never have to
hear like that. That's been for the golden years. Well
that picture in me day by day yeah comes not so.

Speaker 4 (52:42):
Sleear, don't figure out around sweitter, have my ton so
full of splitter A.

Speaker 1 (52:56):
My parents tune in what I've been thinking. Hunky some flus,
but for me it's lilla, both tighter. I will not
deeper down sinking.

Speaker 3 (53:07):
I tried to put my finger.

Speaker 2 (53:08):
On and I gave it my whole herm.

Speaker 1 (53:11):
I reached out with good attentions.

Speaker 3 (53:13):
