Speaker 4 (00:48):
Can you give the folks out there who are listening
a little idea on the type of the type of
legends that are in the building today from Philadelphia.
Speaker 3 (00:56):
It's legend after legend.
Speaker 5 (00:58):
It's a super Bowl champion after super Bowl champion. We
got thousands of people out in the crowd right now
waiting to get autographs, pictures, all that just the this
is just the morning lineup.
Speaker 3 (01:11):
I'm gonna just hit you with the morning lineup real quick.
Speaker 5 (01:13):
Mike Schmidt, Na, Kobe Dean, Jake Elliott, Cam Jurgens, Fred Johnson,
Isaiah Rodgers, Nick Foles, Steve Carr. Heavy hitters in the morning,
Carl and I haven't even gotten to the afternoon yet.
We got guys like AJ Brown, CJ. Gardner, Johnson, Big Play, Slay,
Brandon Graham, quin Ya Mitchell, Josh Sweat, we got Howie Roseman,
(01:35):
Gilly We name after name today, Degene.
Speaker 3 (01:39):
Towards the end of the day.
Speaker 5 (01:40):
We have a ton of names and there's a ton
of people out here at the Philly Show.
Speaker 3 (01:44):
It is another great day here expensive way.
Speaker 6 (01:47):
I think almost every single Eagles starter will be here
between Friday and Sunday.
Speaker 5 (01:52):
There's gotta be at least twenty five to thirty Super
Bowl champion Eagles in the house over the next three days.
Speaker 4 (01:57):
Yeah, I got I'm sure there was some love this
when I was a kid, but I never heard about something.
Speaker 3 (02:04):
Like this where every Eagle was gonna be there.
Speaker 4 (02:06):
These legends from the Phillies and you know, legends from
all across Philadelphia sports. This seems like an absolute dream
for any Philadelphia fan out there, but especially kids out there.
This would have been like this would have been Christmas
Morning to me coming to something like this as a kid, What.
Speaker 6 (02:20):
A perfect thing to just bring your kids to for today.
And I'm new to the sports collecting.
Speaker 3 (02:25):
Memorabilia card world. Well, this place is awesome. The Philly
Show does a tremendous job.
Speaker 6 (02:30):
We appreciate them hosting us, but this place is incredible.
The amount of Eagles fans, the amount of families that
are here, the amount of people that are coming to
support member of sports from Bali World, but also the
Super Bowl champions.
Speaker 3 (02:41):
What a day here at the Philly Show.
Speaker 4 (02:43):
Yeah, I'm sure this would be cool any year, but
it definitely adds a little something.
Speaker 5 (02:47):
It is funny too, So it was supposed to be
originally pretty uh just pretty like all around heavy, and
then the Eagles won the super Bowl. It's just about
every every single legle almost on the rock.
Speaker 3 (03:00):
There will be here at some point this weekend.
Speaker 5 (03:02):
Hurts, the the trio of Hurts, Big Dom and Sirianni,
was here late last night. I'll tell you this dude,
watching Jalen Hurts walk around, he looked like he was
the president. He had like seven bodyguards. It was nuts
man him, Sirianni, big Dom, all them in the building
last night.
Speaker 3 (03:20):
His big Dom get a bigger line than Hurts and Syriani.
Speaker 5 (03:23):
All three of them had a really big line last.
Speaker 3 (03:27):
Oh yeah, big time. Yeah, No, it was an awesome
night last night.
Speaker 4 (03:30):
I'll throw it to you, Sam, if you had any
person that's gonna be here today that you'd be excited
to go get an autograph, thumb, go get a picture
with you.
Speaker 3 (03:38):
Who's that for you?
Speaker 6 (03:38):
Let's go with the architect of the entire thing, mister
Howie Roseman, at the absolute legend who built this team,
has been with the city. He bleeds Eagles. He grew
up a Philadelphia sports fan. He is now really the
king of the city because he's the architect behind this
entire Super Bowl team. He got his second Super Bowl ring.
He said he bleeds for the city and he does
after a guy through a beer at his forehead. So
(04:01):
I'd say, Howie, the guy that really built this entire
thing is not on the field that you're watching every day,
but he's the reason that all these Eagles fans are
celebrating the way they are over the last month or so.
Speaker 3 (04:11):
Now I'm going with Howie Roseman for number one.
Speaker 6 (04:13):
If I wouldn't get a ticket to go somewhere, it
would be to go see give Howie a big huk
and they've even kiss I.
Speaker 5 (04:20):
Hear that, Luke, who would be number one on your list?
So mine was Howie as well. But I don't want
to be the same as say so.
Speaker 3 (04:28):
I'll go it either beg or CJ.
Speaker 5 (04:31):
Would I would love to just talk to CJ for
like thirty seconds. I think it would be a hilarious conversation.
I mean, there's just so many heavy hitters today though.
I mean, like if we got thirty seconds up here
with Gilly, I think that would just be incredible in itself.
Speaker 3 (04:47):
Yeah, I mean.
Speaker 5 (04:48):
There's just a ton of big names today. I mean,
anyone here will be a good answer at this point.
Speaker 4 (04:54):
If I had to go, if I had to go
one guy, I've got to go with my guy. I've
gotta go with Cooper de Gene, the guy I had
last year. Everyone knows big draft guy I had. Cooper
gen is my number nine overall player last year. How
he get you know, disappoint hear how he point, but how.
Speaker 3 (05:09):
He gets him?
Speaker 4 (05:09):
What number forty two in the forty somewhere in the
second round. I had him as a top ten guy,
and I think he more than proved that out in
his first year. As an Eagle, and I'm excited for
a lot of years to come with Cooper Dejeene and
Quinn Yon Patrol in the secondary.
Speaker 3 (05:24):
Ben.
Speaker 6 (05:24):
Coopers are gonna answer just because he immediately became a
Philadelphia legend off that pick six, Like I will when
you think about watching that Super Bowl back, I will
never forget the moment he threw that interception, the people
you were with, the celebrations, the hugs like that was
because of Cooper de Jean's pick six.
Speaker 3 (05:40):
That was the moment of the super Bowl for me.
So Cooper's a great answer.
Speaker 5 (05:43):
And it's funny too because we came so the last
time we were at the Philly show was back I
believe in December around there. Yes, so it was like
middle of December and Degene was here and like he
was big, Like he was big at the time. But
I think the crowd for Degene is going to be
a lot bigger today than it wasn't for it's been
(06:03):
a wild few months for Cooper de Gene. Half of
the people who were watching the Super Bowl didn't even
know who Cooper gen was.
Speaker 4 (06:08):
Lebron know who was Lebron knows who Cooper deginion most
mad guys, big football fit. He's always playing with the Ravens.
If you ever see him posting about it, he's always
with the Ravens. Probably knows all those guys. He has
no idea about the exciting Whites. But yeah, it's absolutely
awesome to see. Like you guys said pretty much every
single Eagle starter, I know, Chase Uttley here tomorrow. Chase Utley,
(06:31):
I said it for a long time. I think for
like the twenty to thirty years, from the nineties to
the twenty twenties, I think he was the most beloved
athlete I've ever seen in this city. So obviously it's
been a while since he's been a Philly, but I
think that line will be absolutely insane tomorrow for Chase Sutley.
That would be he'd be right there at the top
for me as well. But let's switch gears. We got
(06:53):
a lot to talk about in the sports world. I
think you could hit it from a lot of different angles.
There's a lot of NFL news going on last couple
of days, and I think we're going to get into
that breakdown some of the genos, Smith Tree, the Sam
Darnold rumors to Seattle and whether or not Seattle is
coming out ahead in that conversations.
Speaker 3 (07:12):
I think it's interesting.
Speaker 4 (07:13):
We got a lot to talk about in the NBA
world Big game tonight, the LA Lakers going to Boston.
That's on ABC at eight point thirty, so that that's
a big game. Surprising line is that I'll go it
to Sam real fast because we're not going to hit
on that now.
Speaker 3 (07:27):
I saw Celtics by six and a half. Yeah, in
that game, anybody out for LA or no. Everyone's healthy.
Speaker 6 (07:33):
Everyone's coming off that that big Knicks win over time
of the night.
Speaker 3 (07:36):
Everyone's healthy. I think it's just like a best on
best matchup.
Speaker 6 (07:40):
I think the market is people are overvaluing the Lakers
right now based off this eight and to start, and
so I think people everyone knows when that line comes out.
The Celtics are remarkably I will say the Lakers in
terms of they go up as well, Oh wow, seven
a half, seven and a half.
Speaker 3 (07:56):
I might have to do it, guys.
Speaker 4 (07:58):
I know it's a square right into the rat trap
meet and that's what they're doing.
Speaker 3 (08:02):
I know what they're doing. But it opened four and
a half.
Speaker 4 (08:06):
I saw got right up the six and a half
and yeah, like you just said seven of It makes
me think there has to be an injury news I'm
not aware of.
Speaker 6 (08:13):
I don't think with the Lakers, not that I've heard,
But the Celtics are the better team.
Speaker 3 (08:16):
I Agreetics.
Speaker 6 (08:17):
I agree, better team and they're gonna have Lakers are
gonna have mismatches in their front when they have to
play Jackson Hayes that much. When they go small with
Ruey Hachimur at the five and Dorin Phinney Smith at
the four, they're gonna have mismatches in the front court
where the lake. The Celtics can exploit that with Al Horford,
with Luke Cornett, who's playing well, all those guys. So
the Celtics are the way better team. I wouldn't touch
(08:38):
the game, but it should be a great one.
Speaker 3 (08:40):
So Lebron and Luca are listed as game time decisions.
I don't know. I don't know how much that means.
More is out. I didn't realize that. Yeah, it's interesting.
Speaker 4 (08:49):
I've been on record on this show saying I think
the Celtics are not actually getting enough credit for how
much of the prohibited favorite they should be. They're only
minus one ten to win the East.
Speaker 3 (09:01):
You're not buying the Cavs, well, I think, yeah, I'm not.
I would buy Boston before I buy the Cats.
Speaker 4 (09:07):
Yeah, I'm not buying them in relation to beating Boston
in a seven game series.
Speaker 3 (09:11):
But I think it's more than anything with ok C.
I think you have three, probably three teams that.
Speaker 4 (09:16):
You could see in in you know, ten times they
play a series ten times. I think there's three teams
that win at least three series against La Denver and
maybe Golden State. I think all three you have to
give a chance in a series against. Okay, I'm not
giving anyone outside of Cleveland even a chance in a
(09:37):
series against I.
Speaker 6 (09:37):
Actually think the Thunder I don't give any of those
teams a chance. I just think that the Thunder are
too deep. They're they're the best possession team in the
NBA with a forced turnovers at the highest rate in
the NBA, and they they commit the fewest turnovers in
the NBA. So when you win the possession, it is
so important in the playoffs. And then they're so deep.
You have Shay, you have the front court two of
(09:58):
Chet and Isaiah Harten's it's this team is just unstoppable
with zero holes in the roster. I don't think the
Nuggets can do it, uh with I don't trust Jamal
Murray and Michael Porter Jr. The Lakers has been great.
I don't trust their front court. And we're talking about
the Warriors. You're gonna have Draymond Green, Jimmy Butler, and
Jonathan Mingo when he comes back on the floor together,
those are three non shoots.
Speaker 3 (10:18):
I know.
Speaker 4 (10:19):
Yeah, that's that's the problem with Golden State. I will
I will say, I think you could probably you know,
all those guys have to sit ten minutes. How much
are they actually on the floor together. Maybe Draymond's the
one who kind of you let eat into the minutes
a little bit more than the other players, and for sure,
but they're all gonna have to sit a little anyway,
So I think it will work.
Speaker 3 (10:38):
I thought you were actually higher on Golden State than
I was. I was I was to make the playoffs.
Really high on Golden State.
Speaker 6 (10:43):
I think they're the third maybe fourth best team in
the West, but I think the gat Thunder and the
next best team is so wide.
Speaker 4 (10:50):
But we got to figure out some wayser to make
here because I my bet is the Celtics will be
in the finals and the thunder Wolf.
Speaker 6 (10:58):
I think they both will be, but I would be
I would be less surprised if the Calves are in there, then.
Speaker 3 (11:04):
I would be if any of anyone in the West,
anyone in the West, I will be shocked if the thunder.
Speaker 4 (11:10):
Like if I told you Calves or the field in
the West, besides besides the thunder like all them together
like not just Calves are lakers, or Calves are warriors
or Caves are no denver, give them all the odds
together against the against the Calves, who has a better
chance to make the finals?
Speaker 3 (11:28):
I would say, if I'm understanding your question, I put it,
put it in a terrible way.
Speaker 4 (11:32):
I would say the thunder right, taking the thunder out
all the other teams in the West were just the Calves.
Speaker 3 (11:38):
Who has a better chance of making the finals? That's
a good question, I would say the Calves. That's my
argument because I take the field in that article, I
would take the Calves.
Speaker 6 (11:45):
The reason why is because I don't trust the Celtics
health Like Kristaps can't go through two months of the
season completely healthy.
Speaker 3 (11:51):
True Holiday has been in out of the lineup for months.
Speaker 6 (11:54):
Like if those guys aren't completely healthy for a series
against the Calves, I'm or against the Celtic or excuse me,
against the Cavs. I'm taking the Caves in that series
all day. But health matters.
Speaker 3 (12:05):
Christavs was out last year and it didn't matter.
Speaker 6 (12:07):
There was no team like the Calves last year. The
Celtics rule because there was no competition like that.
Speaker 3 (12:11):
They played.
Speaker 6 (12:11):
They played the Calves, who weren't the same team, different
coach without Donovan Mitchell and Jared Allen a lot of
that series, and then they played the Pacers like that.
The competition is different.
Speaker 4 (12:20):
And something else. I'll say, OKC is awesome. I'm not
going to debate how awesome they are. They were really
awesome last year too. They were the one seed last year.
They won fifty eight games last year, and what happened.
They went up against the greatest player in the playoffs
right now in the NBA. You're taking one guy. You're
taking Luca Doncis. He's number two on the all time
(12:42):
leading playoff points per game. He averaged twenty nine, nine
and a half and nine in the playoffs last year.
Didn't have a single conference finals or finals game. I
know he didn't win the finals but didn't have a
single conference finals or finals game where he went under
twenty eight points. He shot over forty percent in every
one of those games. Luca is the guy to me.
Speaker 3 (13:02):
That was Luke's point yesterday about the Thunders and experience.
Speaker 4 (13:04):
Yeah, and to me, I think the Lakers are better
than the MAVs were last year outside of Luca.
Speaker 5 (13:09):
That's the situation where like I favor the field and
not the Thunder because yesterday we got up here and
we said Lakers have better in playoff experience, The Nuggets
have better in playoff experience, The Warriors have better in
playoff experience. The Thunder don't have that. And I'm not
saying they're gonna lose first round of the Clippers. But
if they get into a second round matchup with Denver,
(13:31):
I didn't get series is going to be a lot
closer than people think.
Speaker 6 (13:35):
My thing is that you have to go through playoff
scores to make a champions run.
Speaker 3 (13:39):
That's a fact. You have to.
Speaker 6 (13:40):
They went through them last year like they were the
one seed and they got knocked knocked out in the
second round. Like that is playoff experience. Jalen Willim struggled.
Hopefully he improves from that.
Speaker 3 (13:48):
Shae.
Speaker 6 (13:50):
The whole defensive game plan was blitzing Shay, building a
shell around Shay, and they improve. They will improve because
of those experience in those playoff walls. You have to
go through the battle scores to make her run in
the playoffs. If you're going with zero experience, you've no chance.
There's no precedent for that in NBA history. But they
went through it like it's not a lot of playoff experience.
But there's two rounds last year that they went through, say,
(14:11):
pretty much the same unit except they added Isaiah Hartenstein
and Alex.
Speaker 3 (14:15):
Caruso taking stuff. Yeah, he's been awesome, but he was there.
He was there last year.
Speaker 4 (14:19):
That's what I wanted to pull up. I pulled up
the Thunder playoff stats from last year because something that's
I remember thinking SG a ball. Now SGA showed up.
He was good's it was not a issue. It's the
rest of that team where I'm a huge chet guy,
especially I'm a fantasy basketball player.
Speaker 3 (14:34):
I understand his value. You know, not to check that league.
I know, I know you're you're right.
Speaker 4 (14:39):
In the next but chet Holm Grant is a guy
who he didn't shoot nearly enough last year in the
class eleven eleven shots per game in the playoffs, I
just felt like he was not comfortable enough to take
the ball and be like I'm gonna shoot, or I'm
gonna drive, or i'm gonna go try to get to
the line. And I know that that's not necessarily his
game to create for himself, but he really took himself
out of the game on offense a lot in that series,
and Jail Williams really disappointed me in that series. His
(15:02):
numbers actually look better than I remember it.
Speaker 6 (15:05):
But the thing about Jayleen Williams was, I'm completely with you.
He in games four, three, four and five, he had twelve.
Speaker 3 (15:11):
Fourteen, sixteen points. Yeah, that can't happen.
Speaker 6 (15:13):
And the entire series got forty two percent from the
field against the nets. Like that can't happen. But again,
I think it's good that he went through that last year. Yeah,
he knows how he knows the coverages that are going
to be against him in the playoffs. The coach knows
the coverages, the team like Shay can read those better
than he ever did before, So I think that helped them.
But I'm with you, it's all gonna be on Jayleen
williams shoulder. They have more depth than they used to
with Cason Wallace and Aaron Wiggins and all those guys,
(15:35):
but it's still gonna come down to Jalen Williams being
a secondary option and helping Shay out.
Speaker 3 (15:40):
So that's the only knock on them in the playoffs.
So I guess we ended up doing the NBA segment now.
Speaker 4 (15:46):
The way, Yeah, yeah, yeah, I will get back to it.
I'm sure there's more we can hit on from the NBA.
I actually I want to talk about the Clippers a
little later. I'll leave that for the second hour.
Speaker 3 (15:54):
We might be Clippers. I think there's a chance. It
depends on the drawl. They get James Harden game the
other night. Du you know me. You know me, I'm
a Harden apologist.
Speaker 4 (16:05):
I'll he should still be here, But that's another conversation
for an entirely different day.
Speaker 3 (16:10):
You know, Sean Bernard, he's got back in the studio.
Speaker 4 (16:13):
I think we might try to try to get him
on the MICU in the second half, and then after
this break maybe I'll let.
Speaker 3 (16:18):
Him talk about the Sixers. But I don't know, I'm
I we might have put.
Speaker 4 (16:21):
Him on a timer. We might put him on a timer.
He might have to be on a time right ninety
seconds on the six they got back down last night.
Speaker 3 (16:29):
Deserved it.
Speaker 5 (16:30):
Paul George got boo, you're right, we're not doing a
den Bona and d like that.
Speaker 4 (16:35):
Justice for Yah. Yeah, George, I was a snackdown last night.
Maybe maybe I'll talk about that in the second hour
as well.
Speaker 6 (16:41):
But that's when I will say, that's when I wish
that Paul George still had his podcast.
Speaker 3 (16:46):
I would love to hear on how we got boot
bring it back. We were losing. We were losing when
he had the podcast.
Speaker 5 (16:54):
March twelfth, by the way, might be the biggest game
in the history of the Sex as French have to.
Speaker 3 (16:59):
Lose that game. Yeah, there's a lot of most.
Speaker 6 (17:02):
Can I say something, It's really funny watching everyone like
you want to get in a position to have this
five or the fifth worst record and the fifth best chance.
Speaker 3 (17:12):
Here's the thing, it's still.
Speaker 6 (17:14):
Coming down to pick ping pong balls talking about the
Philadelphia seventy. We're gonna anyone think, no matter if they
end up with the worst record in the NBA, that
they're gonna land.
Speaker 3 (17:22):
I know the chances the odds a obviously better. Anyone
think they're gonna land.
Speaker 5 (17:25):
We're gonna finish with the fourth worst record, and we're
gonna get the ninth pick in the draft.
Speaker 3 (17:29):
I'm gonna anti. I don't think the lottery is rigged.
Oh it's not rigged. That's almost unlucky franchise.
Speaker 4 (17:37):
I'm just hoping to get as much as long balls
as you can get in there.
Speaker 3 (17:41):
I argue about the Here's what I'll say.
Speaker 4 (17:44):
I think sometimes the NBA, when there's certain guys or
certain teams at the top, or when the Lakers had
a top three protected pick for three straight years and
got the second pick every one of those years, I
think sometimes there might be a little tom I think
for the most I think for the most part, I
think for the most part it's not. But I do
think sometimes they might swoop in.
Speaker 3 (18:03):
But if the Spurs get the number one pick this year,
then it's great. I guess.
Speaker 4 (18:07):
So do you think they really want like a second whot?
Speaker 3 (18:12):
The Wizards have twelve wins, it's Trooper flag they do, Dude,
is there a chance that they want?
Speaker 7 (18:16):
Like?
Speaker 4 (18:16):
Washington's not a small market, right, Like do you want
do you want to start to go there and try
to like make it a real team.
Speaker 6 (18:25):
I mean, yes, but it's not the market that's some
of these other players. So I actually don't know what's
a bigger market between San Antonio and Washington. Probably soon DC, probably,
But I feel like the passion of the basketball fans
is greater in San Antonio.
Speaker 3 (18:36):
That's probably in Washington.
Speaker 4 (18:38):
Let's real quick before we go to break. We're gonna
hit break in a couple of minutes. Here, I'm gonna
run down my picks for the day. We're gonna get
more into the college basketball slate in the second when
we get back after this break. But let me just
run this, run these picks out so I can get
the tweet out.
Speaker 3 (18:51):
At two o'clock, I.
Speaker 4 (18:52):
Like the under at one forty nine and a half
in Stanford Louisville.
Speaker 3 (18:56):
That's a two unit play right there.
Speaker 4 (18:58):
That that number is actually down to one forty and
a half, I still like it. It's been cruising down
all day long. Louisville twenty and ten to the under,
Stanford seventeen and thirteen to the under, So I like
that one a lot. Three o'clock, I like the over
at one thirty nine and a half in Northwestern Maryland.
These are two teams that play really fast tempo. They
(19:19):
played in Northwestern at the beginning of January seventy six.
Seventy four went way over this total, So give me
the over at one thirty nine and a half. As
we got our guy Roy Burton taking pictures over there,
if you could give him a follow out. The B
S line's in the OTC, the OTC, how he put
the ones up. Love It always always good to see
Roy gonna tap him up a break. But yeah, over
one forty and a half, it's the one you to
(19:39):
play for Northwestern Maryland four o'clock.
Speaker 3 (19:42):
One of my favorite players of the day.
Speaker 4 (19:43):
Under one thirty seven TCU Colorado, Colorado. It's been a
cash cow for the under TCUs even been even better
nineteen ten and one for TCU, sixteen twelve and two
for Colorado at eight o'clock. Fun mid major to watch
out for. They might be like a fourteen or a
fifteen seed, but they they're crazy. They put out these
viral videos in the locker room and them going nuts
(20:04):
after everyone. Nebraska Omaha in the Summit League, they're they're
in the semi they're in the semi final.
Speaker 3 (20:11):
They are the one seed. No, no, no, no, it's
not the play of the day.
Speaker 4 (20:15):
One you to play. You think I'm not watching some league.
I'm gonna tell that battle.
Speaker 3 (20:22):
This is a big Tansy team, Nebraska Omaha. He really
like seems that seems like a Tansy team.
Speaker 5 (20:27):
A lot of Tansy teams have have like two or
three words.
Speaker 3 (20:31):
Yeah, yeah, I like that. I like that.
Speaker 4 (20:34):
Yeah, the more words the better for Tansy and Nebraska Omaha.
They've been bringing like wrestlers into their locker room after
the games to like they have these people that come
out of a trash can and then they're like, ah,
they all go nuts and throw water at each other.
It's a fun story. They've been red hot. I think
they started the year really bad and have been red
hot in conference. Played that the one seed in that tournament.
They are minus four and a half against South Dakota today.
(20:56):
South Dakota not a very good team who lasted uh
you know, a crazy game and where they upset a
team in overtime yesterday.
Speaker 3 (21:03):
I like taking a chance on the brasket the ball.
Best bet of the day.
Speaker 4 (21:06):
Also, eight o'clock give me Ducaine Saint Louis under one
thirty nine and a half. Billikins unders have been my
favorite player of the year. I've been loving betting Saint
Louis Unders. Dukine has been really really good at getting
to the under as well, seventeen and twelve towards the under.
I like Furman plus two and a half at eight
thirty against Sanford. That's in the Southern League, that's in
(21:28):
the Soacon I know, if you're tracking out there, that's
a little.
Speaker 3 (21:31):
Four or five matchup in that conference tournament. Give me Furman.
Speaker 4 (21:34):
That line's actually up to plus four. So I got
a bad line there, but you know that's the way
the cookie crumbles. Houston at Baylor, give me Houston minus
four and a half tonight. This is a ten o'clock game.
Houston is winning the national championship.
Speaker 3 (21:49):
All this is behind that. This is the year for
Kelvin Samson.
Speaker 6 (21:53):
Luke, do you know what was missing from his card?
There's a gambler out there that's maybe the hottest gambler.
Speaker 3 (21:58):
I'm already on it. Why is that missing from your car?
My friend over that big cat over what is it?
It is Missoo Kentucky over one seventy and a half.
Speaker 4 (22:11):
So I have a a phobia for overs over one fifty,
but I can't do horrible. Oh absolutely, it's probably the number.
Probably it's just so easy for that bets and not hit.
It's so easy. I have to go under.
Speaker 3 (22:26):
I mean, you need you get three in a round
eighty five a team, you get three.
Speaker 4 (22:33):
Possessions in a row at any point of that game
where there's no scoring and you're done, you.
Speaker 5 (22:37):
Need one, one, one at least to hit ninety one
of the three teams has to hit nine.
Speaker 3 (22:42):
I can't do it. I can't do over one fifty
when they have to get the seventy five. I'm scared.
Speaker 4 (22:46):
One fifties and one fifty is my number. I stopped
taking over one thirty is my number. I stopped taking unders.
I can't go under one thirty. I can't go over
one fifty. Too many things can happen. It's too high,
too low for me. So that's my sweet spot at
one thirty to one fifty. If you have notice with
my bets and then my last basketball better than night,
you see San Diego minus twelve and a half at
UC Davis. Now when I say this, I'm just joking
(23:08):
about Nebraska Omhall. There will be a fifteen seed. Maybe
they'll have a crazy upset, and that's fun. This is
a real team to watch out for. You see San Diego,
probably the eleven seed. There's a chance maybe they could
get in even without winning the conference tournament. With an autobid.
This is the team that's winning their first round matchup.
In my opinion, I really like them. They score a
ton of points and they're not in a great conference,
(23:29):
but they weren't terrible in a non common either, So
really really like you see San Diego.
Speaker 3 (23:37):
I'm in. I'm in.
Speaker 6 (23:39):
On that.
Speaker 8 (23:41):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (23:41):
On that note, we're gonna come back with Sam's card.
Let's take a break and on the other side, back
with Sam's card on the day on college Basketball Tough
Up Radio Show from the Philly Show.
Speaker 3 (23:51):
Back after this, we're talking about it. It's the Gambler.
Speaker 4 (24:04):
Welcome back to the Tough Cover Radio Show, Live from
the Philly Show at the Expo Center here in Oaks, Pennsylvania.
Speaker 3 (24:12):
We've got a ton of legends right.
Speaker 4 (24:14):
Behind us, and I think Nick Foles just walked into
the room. You know that there's a line from Moneyball
that's that's sneaking into my head about someone walking in
the room. But he's been there for five minutes already,
if you know what I mean. But nevertheless, I know
there you go, Thank you, Thank you, Luke. But a
lot of legends right behind us, a lot of Super
Bowl champions right behind us. Now we had some twenty
(24:37):
twenty five super Bowl champions right behind us. Now you
got the first the inaugural Super Bowl champions obviously right
there with our guy Nick Foles.
Speaker 3 (24:45):
What an absolute legend right behind us there.
Speaker 4 (24:48):
But you know what you asked me an overbreak, if
we were gonna do quarterbacks in this segment, nick Foles
just walking in the room, Let's switch gin quarter Let's
talk some quarterbacks. Because big news yesterday Geno Smith traded
from the Seattle Seahawks to the Las Vegas Raiders. I
saw its like a classic, like Facebook meme. It was
like the Raiders logo. Now, was that what it was?
Speaker 3 (25:10):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (25:11):
Funny powers with the blue and the blue and green
Raiders logo. Uh to Pete Carroll and Gino. Now, by
the way, find someone who believes in you and loves
you as much as Pete Carroll loves and believes in Genos.
Speaker 3 (25:30):
They wrote them off, they wrote them all right back.
Speaker 6 (25:33):
Believing in the quarterback is kind of what led to
pet Carroll's downfall yeat with Russell Wilson a little bit
when there was a lot of friction there and then
people were saying it was given them preferential treatment.
Speaker 3 (25:44):
So I don't know if we did trust Pete Carroll
that one, that's fair.
Speaker 4 (25:48):
I will say I think the Raiders will be competitive.
Next to whether that means they're competing for the playoffs,
I don't know they're gonna win seven to nine to
ten games.
Speaker 3 (25:58):
Like I think ten would be a lot. Ten would
be a lot.
Speaker 4 (26:02):
I'm saying like that would be like if everything broke
right and they nailed another draft back high up there,
They're not if you take a quarterback.
Speaker 3 (26:08):
I do personally, I think I'm going.
Speaker 4 (26:11):
To be favorable to any team this year who decides
to go veteran quarterback over rolling the gust this year
in the draft, big big ovation for Nicholes.
Speaker 3 (26:22):
By the way, if you're listening, yeah, don't.
Speaker 6 (26:26):
I don't disagree with you where I'm always gonna trust,
but I think, oh, but I think coaching matters more
than anything, right, Like when you see Sean Payton paired
with bow Knicks, a rookie quarterback. That's more important than
if you have a veteran guy who's been around the
league and some experience in the NFL.
Speaker 3 (26:46):
Like the coaching matters more.
Speaker 6 (26:47):
If you have a coaching, a great coach, great offensive
mind like Kevin O'Connell, paired with a veteran quarterback like
a Sam Darnold, then yeah, I'll trust that combination more
than anything.
Speaker 3 (26:55):
But I'm looking at coach more than more than experienced quarterback.
I think, you know, I really like pet Carroll. I've
always thought Pete Carroll's a really good coach.
Speaker 4 (27:04):
I think he actually gets under ridded a little bit
because of the Marshawn Lynch not handling the ball and
obviously bad decision. He was in the super Bowl for
the second time in like three years when that happened,
after winning the one previous. So I think Pete Carroll's awesome,
and I think he's like the right guy to kind
of stabilize the franchise. I think for me, I just
would want to kick the can if I'm a team
(27:24):
that needs a quarterback. Next year seems like it's going
to be a much better quarterback draft. I'm not a
cambored guy. I'm not really a shdor guy. I don't
really believe in this quarterback class. Like if you say,
like I kind of like Jackson Dart is like a
swing in the late second round, sure, but don't I don't.
I wouldn't be the one that would want to invest
in any of these guys. Personally, I would sign justin
(27:46):
fields over doing anything else.
Speaker 3 (27:48):
This alsea I think.
Speaker 5 (27:49):
But there's also like a lot of years where there's
multiple quarterbacks, Like they might not be great, but I
guarantee you they won't be bad. Like I everywhere, every
quarterback in this draft could eventually be really bad. I like,
I just don't. I don't see any of them. Like
you said, if I was a team like the Jets,
(28:11):
or if I was a team like the Giants, I
would rather take a chance on fields than take a
guy like Jackson dark Like.
Speaker 3 (28:19):
It's just and.
Speaker 4 (28:20):
I real quick, I think part of the benefit of
doing the veteran quarterback thing or the fields thing, I
think I didn't part like, I don't think I correctly
worded this. He's the chance that now you go get
to take Abdall Carter now you go get to take
Travis Hunter. Now you go get to take Will Johnson
at Ted McMillan, whoever you think is the top three,
three to five guys. If you're the Raiders sitting at seven,
(28:41):
quarterbacks are gonna go ahead of you. Maybe it's one,
maybe it's two that's gonna push someone down that should
have went higher, and you're gonna go get.
Speaker 3 (28:47):
A blue chip guy, just like you got last year
with Bowers.
Speaker 4 (28:50):
And if you're the Giants sitting at three, I would
rather just go sign Aaron Rodgers Kirk Cousins, if it's I.
Speaker 3 (28:56):
Would do justin Fields over all these guys.
Speaker 4 (28:58):
But a veteran do one year stop gap hope that
maybe you can be competitive and put the train on
the tracks for the next year.
Speaker 3 (29:05):
But I just well, that's all I'm gonna ask you guys.
Speaker 6 (29:08):
Next is when when you're talking about the Giants, you
bring up justin Field to Aaron Rodgers, and you're going,
because I agree with you that I'd rather have I
of those guys than any of the quarterbacks in this draft.
Speaker 3 (29:17):
So you kick the can a little bit, and then
if you're a middling team.
Speaker 6 (29:20):
Next year, you kind of put together trade package to
get towards the top of the draft and draft one
of these quarterbacks you might really like if you're if
you are the Giants. But if you are the Giants
and you're really you're probably gonna go better in quarterback.
Speaker 3 (29:31):
And it seems like it's gonna be Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 6 (29:33):
But would you who out of the veteran quarterbacks around
right now, would you prefer Aaron Rodgers?
Speaker 3 (29:38):
Justin Fields? Fields? By far over all these guys.
Speaker 4 (29:43):
I think Fields is the one guy who has upside
out of all these names. Like I thought Fields was
playing really good football when the Steelers before and too,
I mean, I think there are real limitations when it
comes to being in that Steelers offense.
Speaker 3 (29:57):
They don't have a lot of talent in general.
Speaker 4 (29:59):
I think, now do you hear stinks George Pickens's really talented,
absolutely crazy person, and they didn't have a good second
receiver on the field.
Speaker 3 (30:05):
I think Friarmouth is like the eighteenth best tight.
Speaker 4 (30:07):
End, Like I don't think Pittsburgh and their O line
isn't anything special either, Like, and you're also when you
are an OC for Pittsburgh, you're kind of handicapped into
doing the conservative Vanilla run the ball, you know, And
I thought, with Justin Field's legs, that actually gives you
like a floor. And I know the Bears were pretty bad,
but they also went eight and oh it was eight
(30:30):
and nine with Fields before they had it before this
year they went worse with Caleb, but the same team
and a different obviously a little bit of a different
coaching staff. But I think I think Field's is the
one guy who I can squit and say, you know what, like,
I've seen enough in the limited times i've seen it.
Finished ninth and MVP the one year that he was
a starter for the Bears. But I just think I've
(30:51):
seen enough in him that I would want to take
a chance. He's also young, so if you nail it,
maybe he's the guy for a couple of years.
Speaker 5 (30:57):
You rather have a twenty six year old Justin Field
for Carson Wentz, Jameis Winston.
Speaker 3 (31:04):
Like, it's not it's not even a debate.
Speaker 4 (31:06):
Sam Donald's the one who people are gonna say, is
it debate? Donald's gonna cost a lot more. But even
if it costs the same, I know this is crazy.
I would go Field.
Speaker 5 (31:14):
I also watched Sam Donald's last three games of his
season last year exactly by the way, all these games.
Speaker 6 (31:20):
I'm going Aaron Rodgers over Justin Fields. Wow, because I
think the ceiling is higher. Like, if you're doing this
as a one year thing, sure, maybe you hit on
Justin Fields and you figure something out and he finally
has this breakthrough, but we kind of know what Justin
Fields is.
Speaker 3 (31:33):
You don't want to build your franchise around Justin Fields.
Speaker 6 (31:35):
Your ceiling is higher with Aaron Rodgers for one year
because we're talking about you're just kicking the can for
one year and you're gonna draft a guy next year.
See what you can make of this season. You're ceiling
with Aaron Rodgers. There still could be something there. Two
years now, removed from the Achilles injury, he kind of
got his confidence back towards the end of last season.
You saw him sling the ball better towards the end
of the year. Your ceiling is higher bringing Aaron Rodgers
(31:56):
than it is a guy like Justin Fiets.
Speaker 4 (31:59):
I disagree. I think your ceilings higher with fields. Like
to me, I still think there's upside for Fields to
get to what people thought. I was actually not that
high on him as a prospect, but I still think
there's upside to get to what people thought he could.
Speaker 3 (32:10):
Be as a prospect.
Speaker 4 (32:11):
I still think about the passing he was able to
do at Ohio State, and I still feel like he
hasn't been capitalized on to the degree he should. He
should be and I would love to see him get
a chance outside of Pitford. It seems like he's gonna
be the starter in Pittsburgh, is what it seems like.
Speaker 3 (32:25):
It seems like Russ's.
Speaker 4 (32:26):
Gonna go elsewhere and they're gonna buy in on fields,
which I think is the smart move for Pittsburgh. But
I tweeted it out the other day. I think there's
a list of teams like there should be like seventeen
desperately trying to get fields, and I don't know how
many of them are. Like I think Tennessee at number
one should before they got Geno.
Speaker 5 (32:43):
Yeah, Raiders, the Titans, the Browns, the Giants, the Jets.
Speaker 4 (32:48):
Yeah, I'm probably I'll tell you who should who should
go out and try to get justin fields. The Indianapolis Colts,
they should absolutely try to go get justin fields. And
you can let Richardson sit behind field and it gives
you so that it feels they get hurt. You don't
have to change the offense too much. You still have
a mobile guy. You can base a lot around the
quarterback run. But if I'm signing Field, the quarterback run
(33:10):
is going to be a really important part of what
we do, and it's gonna I don't think it's actually
been capitalized enough on throughout his career. How good of
a runner he is and how good of a passer
he is sometimes, but you.
Speaker 6 (33:20):
Don't think justin Fields if he went to Indianapolis, would
have to ask out after a long run.
Speaker 3 (33:25):
No, I don't think so.
Speaker 4 (33:27):
I think Indy is the sleeping giant in this whole
quarterback No one's talking about them.
Speaker 6 (33:32):
They are talented, not super talented, but enough to contend
for the playoffs other than quarterbacks.
Speaker 3 (33:37):
And we know how good psych is. There's been a
little like I feel like Stiching.
Speaker 4 (33:42):
Really he won win nine games and missed the playoffs
with Minshew this year, they sort of slight step back,
and I feel like people are out on stych him.
I still think that guy's one of the smartest head
coaches in the NFL, and if you gave him a
real quarterback, they almost made the playoffs with Minshew, Like
I think you gave change.
Speaker 3 (34:00):
Like in if if they could.
Speaker 4 (34:01):
Have got Matt Stafford, if they could have got Geno,
if they could get Justin Fields, if they could get
even I don't know.
Speaker 3 (34:07):
I'll say this.
Speaker 5 (34:08):
My my gut, says Rogers to Indy.
Speaker 3 (34:13):
I I that's probably the best spot for Rodgers.
Speaker 5 (34:16):
If you're Rogers, it's the best team overall that needs
a quarterback.
Speaker 3 (34:20):
If he goes to New York, it's it's.
Speaker 6 (34:21):
A living thing. He doesn't want to move. He has
his beautiful house in Montclair, New Jersey. He doesn't want
to move. He wants to stay in New York longer.
Because that's not the best spot.
Speaker 3 (34:29):
That's one of the least talented rosters, probably probably the worst.
Speaker 6 (34:32):
Yeah, So I mean you have molite neighbors. That's literally it.
The golfensive line is brutal. Indianapolis is definitely the best
spot if you're him, and if you but it's really
up to like a lifestyle thing for him, if he
wants to do one more year, maybe two in India.
Speaker 3 (34:45):
This is bad radio.
Speaker 4 (34:46):
But I was putting together my team needs lists for
my my draft work the other day, and you have
to be picky sometimes to not list every position for
bad teams the Giants, I listed pretty much every position
I need it. Like, what's a position, there's name you
want to put the interior line, interior O line pretty.
Speaker 3 (35:03):
Good, Wide receiver one's good.
Speaker 4 (35:06):
Yeah, I put running back on there. You could argue
Tyrone Tracy was good. If that's actually greatd Tyrone Tracy
is like the third worst running back who got snaps
last year. I know he actually put up pretty good stats.
I don't know if that means anything, but to.
Speaker 5 (35:18):
The waiver wire warrior on my fantasy team last year,
I'll tell you that he put up numbers.
Speaker 4 (35:22):
So I was actually shocked to see how how poorly
he graded out. But real quick, let's talk Gino. Let
let's circle it back to Gino with Seattle. If you're Seattle,
are you better off just paying Gino and keeping continuity
or are you better off getting a third for Gino
and paying Sam Darno on what you were going to
pay Gene.
Speaker 5 (35:41):
I think it's more of a fresh starting situation for Seattle.
I think if they're trading DK and they're trading Gino
and they're losing locket, like I don't want to call
it a rebuild, but I think it's a retool.
Speaker 3 (35:58):
Howie roseman Ter, Yeah, low retol, not a rebuild.
Speaker 4 (36:01):
But if it's a retool or a rebuild, I don't
know if I would go out there and give Sam Donald.
Speaker 3 (36:07):
There you go.
Speaker 5 (36:08):
This is where Justin Fields enters the com Yes, and
I'm telling you there's a lot of teams that should
want Justin Field.
Speaker 4 (36:13):
I totally I could not agree more. I think that's
like my biggest take. Just Fields in Seattle would be interesting.
Speaker 3 (36:18):
I'm interested. Everywhere I hear Justin Fields, I'm like, oh, Tennessee,
you know I'm pretty good. Yeah, no, I know it's bad,
But that's how much I like Field, I believe I think.
Speaker 4 (36:28):
And by the way, when I'm saying all this, I
think you could be the sixteenth best quarterback, Like that's
what I'm saying, really like, and the difference between sixteen
and thirty two is massive, Like I think if you
have that average quarterback play, And that's why I actually
think Gino is getting that's that they gave up nothing
for him a third round pick.
Speaker 3 (36:46):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (36:47):
I don't mind it though, the Gino Smith trade, because
what's your ceiling. Really with Gino Smith, it's not really
that high. Like maybe a ploff appearance, that's about it.
Even if you have a really talented roster around him,
are right with getting rid of Gino and getting something
like something third round pick is something?
Speaker 4 (37:03):
Is Gino worse than last year's version of Rock Perty.
Speaker 3 (37:07):
Last year's version of Rock Purty.
Speaker 6 (37:10):
No, he's not worse, But it's not fair to judge
Rock Party because like Rock Purty is never going to
be the guy. He can be quarterback in a great
system with a Celtic great running back, right sight.
Speaker 3 (37:22):
Yeah, that's kind of my thing.
Speaker 4 (37:24):
Like, yeah, I generally agree with you that he's not
like a super bowlinning quarterback. I agree with that point,
but like we've seen enough guys now make a Jimmy
g like went to the Super Bowl.
Speaker 6 (37:35):
My point earlier matters coaching, matters coached a lot more
than Mike McDonalds.
Speaker 5 (37:41):
You also have to think about with Gino though, to like,
like you said, like what what playoff team in the
ANFC last year? Is Gino gonna beat in the a
f C. He's not going to beat the He's not
going to beat the Bills on the Raiders, on the Raiders.
Speaker 3 (37:57):
Yeah, no, yeah, I agree with that if they had,
like if this.
Speaker 5 (38:00):
Is their plan and it's and it's and it's more
like a year and a half kind of thing, where
maybe it's it's like twenty twenty six kind of thing.
I still don't like Juno's chances up against Mahomes, Alan Lamar,
c J Sherroud, Herbert.
Speaker 3 (38:16):
The AFC is a bonus. Yeah, the AFC is like,
are you sure about Herbert?
Speaker 6 (38:21):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (38:21):
Is Seann? If Sean could pop up in chime in.
I don't know, if I don't know if we're able
to read when you hear Herbert, he was ready when
you heard Herbert.
Speaker 7 (38:30):
Yeah, I take Justin Fields over Justin Herbert quite comfortably.
There to be perfectly honest.
Speaker 3 (38:35):
Here we go, but Justin Field's real fast.
Speaker 4 (38:38):
Just what Luke and I were saying, are you kind
of I know you're a huge Fields guy. Can you
back us up a little bit and give us some
of your what you know, some of your points why
you think some teams are who are some teams that
should take a chance on Fields over Rogers and some
of these other veteran names.
Speaker 7 (38:53):
Yeah, I agree with your mindset, Mark that I think
there's way more teams that should be interested than seem
to be, at least with Fields, Like there's that like
I guess potentially you can talk yourself and do you
know what you're getting with all these end of the
line guys. Fields really has one of the most bizarre
career trajectories that I can think of in a player
that he sort of was set up for failure in Chicago,
hasn't really had a clean chance at actually just being
the guy.
Speaker 3 (39:13):
I would like to see what that looks like.
Speaker 7 (39:15):
So when factoring in like you know who it is,
with Kirk Cousins, Aaron Rodgers, all Sam Darnold, all these
guys at this stage, at least with Fields, there's something
potentially unpacked back.
Speaker 3 (39:25):
Yeah, I agree there, I totally agree.
Speaker 4 (39:28):
And we're gonna go back to Sean now that we
know he's now that we know he's in studio. I
did realize I lied to the people I said we
were gonna come back with.
Speaker 3 (39:35):
Sam Ostri's college basketball picks.
Speaker 4 (39:38):
Let me let me kick it over to Sam and
let me make sure we get this out there just in.
Speaker 3 (39:42):
Case there's any noon noon picks on his card. Sam.
Speaker 6 (39:45):
Yeah, I'll go through them quick. Let's start with Missouri
Kentucky over one seventy one and a half. It's an
honorary play for our guy, Big CAB's fourteen to zero
in the month.
Speaker 3 (39:54):
Then we're gonna go to Alabama plus seven and a half.
Speaker 6 (39:56):
I think Alabama could be Auburn outright's the game of
the day college game. They should be there. I think
Alabama can beat Auburn out right. They played last time.
Last time they played, Auburn beat Alabama. And Auburn's the
best team in the country at limiting three pointers. They
defend the three point line so well, they're running shooters off.
They forced tough twos, tough middies, tough rim shots. But
(40:17):
and so Alabama only made five threes in that first game.
Alabama leaves the entire SEC in three point makes and
three point attempts. I think you're gonna see a different
formula from Alabama. We're gonna generate more threes. They're gonna
have more success against Auburn's defense. We know Alabama's defense
obviously has been struggling, and that's why Alabama's on this
two game skid, which means this is a huge spot
for Alabama on this two game skid.
Speaker 3 (40:38):
They need momentum going into March. They need this.
Speaker 6 (40:41):
Win to close the regular season out. I like Alabamas
plus seven and a half, and I would consider sprinkling
sprinkling the money line. Let's go down the board. I
like North Carolina plus the points. I believe it's at
eleven right now. Again, desperate spot for North Carolina.
Speaker 3 (40:54):
They win this game. During the nca Tournament, they lose,
they might not be They're very much on the bubble.
Speaker 6 (40:59):
It's a great duke team, but it's at home against
North Carolina at North Carolina. I like North Carolina with
the points, Northwestern plus eleven against my Maryland terrifins. I
don't like love this play, but this is a kind
of a letdown spot for Maryland in the sense that
last game the season. They have won ten out of
the last twelve. It's senior night exactly. They're not playing
(41:19):
for much. It's senior night.
Speaker 3 (41:21):
I mean they are for seeding the big time tournament. Again,
not much. It's senior night. They're gonna be feeding Julian
Reese the ball.
Speaker 6 (41:27):
He's been a guy who's been there for four years,
went through a coaching change, went through ups and downs
to this program.
Speaker 3 (41:31):
He's gonna be honored. They're kind of gonna feed him,
and they maybe focus.
Speaker 6 (41:34):
More on him and that than they are than they
are actually winning the game in a sense. So I'm
going Northwestern plus eleven. I think it's closer than people think.
Speaker 4 (41:45):
Final play, real quick, all right, give a final play
and then I'll circle back to Maryland.
Speaker 3 (41:50):
Final play. Saint Jose minus ten and a half against Lasal.
It's at Las South.
Speaker 6 (41:55):
Saint Jose has played Lasal twice all of the season.
Saint Jose won by at least twelve both times.
Speaker 3 (42:00):
I was lost eighth street. They are reeling.
Speaker 6 (42:02):
They've been atrocious over the last couple of weeks, really
a month plus. Lesal has been horrible, one in five
against the spread in their last six. Meanwhile, Saint Joe's
heating up five and one against the spread in.
Speaker 3 (42:13):
Their last six.
Speaker 6 (42:14):
So I think Saint Jose covers this big number at
ten and a half. The only concern is it's fran
Dunfee's last game as a college head coach.
Speaker 3 (42:22):
That's a little bit of a concern.
Speaker 6 (42:23):
It's at Lasal is gonna be a huge pregame ceremony
for him, and he deserves it, a Philadelphia legend. But
Lesal can't score the basketball. They have been atrocious offensively
this season. I think Saint Jose just rolls them, even
on fran Dunfee's last game.
Speaker 3 (42:37):
So Saint Joe's minus ten and a half is my
last player to death.
Speaker 4 (42:39):
By the way I'm looking. I saw this picture earlier
today these Saint Jose.
Speaker 3 (42:43):
Is that from Action Network?
Speaker 4 (42:44):
Yeah, these Saint Jose uniforms are crispy and this is
bad radio.
Speaker 3 (42:47):
They are sweet. There's there's a there's.
Speaker 4 (42:50):
A picture on the Action Network about there's an article
that Saint Jose and they have a cursive Saint Jose
writing as the the font on their jersey. Absolutely beautiful,
beautiful jersey there for saying A ten's wide open. A
ten is there for anyone who wants to take it.
BCU lost as a nine and a half point favorite
last night against Dayton. I had the over in that
one and a cash. But that goes to show they're
(43:13):
been far and away best team in that conference or
the favorite team in that conference, and they just lost
their home to Dayton, who's probably fifth or sixth in
that conference. So I think Shane Jo's we could see
them as an eleven or twelve line in attorney. I
would not be shocked whatsoever. But going back to your.
Speaker 3 (43:28):
Turps, let's hear what you have to say about my turps.
They're a top eight team in the Couch, no doubt
top eight.
Speaker 6 (43:34):
This this team is a legitimate final fourth thread. I'm
not even joking or being biased anymore. Like this team,
this best offensive starting five in the entire country.
Speaker 3 (43:41):
They have no bench, but they're starting five with.
Speaker 6 (43:44):
Jordan Reeese, Derek Queen, Selton Magwell, Rodney Rice, and Jacoby Gilaspie.
Is the best starting five in the country. And they
can get it done on both ends. Like they can
win games in the low fifties because they're so good
defensively and Kevin Willard's teams always are. But they also
can score such a high rate and get in the
eighties and win a game eighty six to eighty one.
Speaker 3 (44:03):
Like when you have the.
Speaker 6 (44:04):
Team that's too dimensional like that, the sky is the limit,
especially in March. You have to be able to win
multiple ways. So I love this Maryland group. I'm telling
you this team. Don't be surprised when the team's in
the final four. They should be on the right now.
They're on the four or five line for most bracketologists,
but they should be on.
Speaker 4 (44:19):
The two or three, and I think they should be
the three to four for sure. I've been seeing them
as five. It seems I don't get that Lars four.
Speaker 6 (44:25):
But Wisconsin's ahead of them when Maryland is more quad
one wins Maryland is they're tied in the standings. Maryland's
technically ahead because they have the tiebreaker and Maryland beat
Wisconsin head to head.
Speaker 3 (44:34):
So I don't get how Wisconsin's on a higher seat line.
And I'm telling you, I have to look into why
well I like I like Maryland more than Wisconsin for sure.
The only six teams that I am definitively painting above
Maryland when it.
Speaker 4 (44:47):
Comes to the Houston, Auburn, Alabama, Saint John's and that
I know the last tea you're gonna disagree with, and
Clemson they Clemson I'm in love. I was gonna say, yea,
you are in love with I'm in love. They went
to the Elite last year. What about Florida, I don't
(45:08):
believe so I think Florida is really good. This is
just one of those things first. I just think that
you gotta go through it a little bit. I don't
think McMahons Matt McMahon, ye name. I always get his
name mixed up with No, Todd Golden, Who's Matt McMahon.
Speaker 3 (45:25):
That's a different basketball.
Speaker 4 (45:28):
I always get. I always get Todd Golden and Matt
McMahon confused. Todd Golden and Florida coach. I think it's
gonna take another year or two before he gets it,
gets it to where he needs it for the tournament.
I still think that there's enough games with Florida that
I watch and they seem a step below those top teams.
The LSU coach LSU coach fan and he was one
(45:48):
of them, was San Francisco, where McMahon come from.
Speaker 3 (45:53):
I have to look to think about that. But that
was that was useless. But those are the only six teams. Clemson.
Speaker 4 (46:01):
I don't know how people are giving Duke the respect
they're giving Duke without giving Clemson their respect. You beat dude,
and who's been nearly as dominant a acc play.
Speaker 6 (46:11):
Yeah, you're I'm not out on Clemson, will get me wrong.
I'm just not putting them ahead of Maryland. I think
Clemson could definitely make a run.
Speaker 3 (46:17):
To be fair, they are ranked eleven in Maryland twelve. Yeah,
I mean we're both we're both higher.
Speaker 4 (46:21):
On Maryland the people, but I'm higher on Clemson than
anybody in the country.
Speaker 3 (46:25):
Yeah, I really think they could go to the championship.
You're you're a huge Clemson guy. Just I have Florida
ahead of them.
Speaker 6 (46:31):
Look, Clem's can make a great run, and they have
been dominant ACC play bad ACC. And it's really just
like the talent that Duke has is why they're elevated
on the national stage. And they're gonna be uh the
number two of all seed. They won seed on on
in the bracket. But I'm with you, the Clemson can
make a real run.
Speaker 4 (46:47):
Yeah, I mean Duke eighteen and one in the Conference,
clebs in seventeen and two, Duke twenty seven to three,
Clemson twenty five and five, due a little better in
the Non Kong but it's I mean, Duke expect I'm
not saying they're not. But like Clemson, I really think
not being given enough credit, Like they're another team. They're
on the four line, like I think they should be on.
Speaker 3 (47:04):
The two three.
Speaker 6 (47:05):
Like, Yeah, I think that's just because the ACC schedule. Yeah,
and Duke has the same AC schedule, but it's Duke,
it's the program, it's the powerhouse.
Speaker 3 (47:13):
Clemson should be getting more credit, but it's the schedule
in the ACC. It's so mad. And then I have
Maryland right with three teams, Kentucky, Texas Tech, and Maryland.
Like all three of those teams I have together. I
have Maryland in front right now at this two. But
I always keep a little bit so I'm I'm not.
Speaker 6 (47:29):
I don't trust Kentucky because when you look at a
national champion, gotta.
Speaker 3 (47:33):
Win, I don't think they can.
Speaker 6 (47:34):
When you go to Kentucky since they started SEC play,
they haven't won more than two straight all season. So
it's like you have to be able to put together
four or five six wins to make a run in
the tournament. Kentucky wins two loses, two wins, one loses one.
They haven't done that. I know SEC is a great conference,
but still like you gotta have great gotta peak great
competition when it's the tournament and there's sixty four teams
in there. So I'm I'm kind of out of Kentucky.
(47:56):
I could think we could be looking at one of
those first round up sets.
Speaker 3 (47:58):
Oh, I don't think. I I like the roster, don't
get me wrong, but I don't know.
Speaker 4 (48:02):
It's funny this Bartsorvik. I love Bartorvik because you can
filter for their date.
Speaker 3 (48:06):
That you want, so you can shorten the sample size.
Speaker 4 (48:09):
But I was checking because Plumbs and is it the
fifteen or sixteen and one in their last fifth sixteen
or seventeen, So I was trying to see because they're
actually a little lower than you think on Ken Palm
and Bartrovic. I think that's kind of why they don't
get a lot of their respect, And I was I
was curious, so I filtered for the last two months,
so just that sixteen seventeen game stretch, Kentucky's eight and
(48:29):
nine in that stretch, and they're a spot higher than
plumbson in Bartorvik, which just goes to show like how
highly there be the SEC is being valued.
Speaker 3 (48:38):
And they're not even really being punished for those close losses.
Speaker 4 (48:41):
I still think, like when push comes to shob that
Kentucky team is just so talented offensively that I don't
think they come in six games. I don't think they're
winning less than at least two.
Speaker 6 (48:53):
But I don't have to do this right now, but
I'm telling you right now, I'm feeding the SEC in March.
Speaker 3 (48:58):
I'm facing some of it. But like, as a whole, I.
Speaker 6 (49:01):
Think we're gonna see a lot of teams that we
didn't really expect to see in the SEC lose most
first two rounds.
Speaker 3 (49:05):
I'm not saying a teams like that or even Alabama,
but teams.
Speaker 6 (49:09):
Like Kentucky, Texas, Texas A, and m most type teams
I think.
Speaker 3 (49:13):
I think they're gonna lose early in March.
Speaker 4 (49:15):
For me, I think it's more nuanced than that. For me,
like I think there's some SEC teams I'm in on
and someone out on.
Speaker 6 (49:20):
It's also a matchup dependence, of course, Yeah, But I'm
just saying, like, I think it's this team that this
conference that we've said is historically good.
Speaker 3 (49:26):
I think they're gonna have a disappointing March.
Speaker 4 (49:28):
Like SEC teams I could see making a run obviously
are in Alabama, but then I think you could easily
see Florida. Obviously Tennessee. I'm not a Tennessee guy, but
you could see it. You can see them making a run.
I can't see them winning the title, but you can
see him making a run. Kentucky I think is gonna
make a run. Vanderbilt is the last one. I think
Vanderbilt could make a run. They have a great guard,
(49:49):
play aj Hoggard, who had some tournament moments as a spartan.
Now there, he's like their third guard. They have three
guards who can really run the offense there for Bandy,
I really really like Fandy. But if we're talking Missouri,
we're talking Texas, A and M. We're talking Mississippi State,
we're talking Old miss We're talking Oklahoma, Texas. If they
get in, I'm out on those. I'm out on like
(50:11):
half the SEC.
Speaker 3 (50:12):
Yeah. And that's the thing.
Speaker 6 (50:13):
It's like, I think after the second week we might
be like, oh, there's only three SEC teams left when
they have the most bids of any conference in the
history of the twenty.
Speaker 3 (50:21):
So that's what I mean where I'm out out on
any college takes for me over there, Luke before break
not really.
Speaker 5 (50:28):
The only march Stock I have is I have three
teams to win the title, three separate tickets.
Speaker 3 (50:34):
I have Saint John's, I have Alabama, and I have Houston.
Three in my top five Henry place, they're not.
Speaker 5 (50:41):
I took Alabama probably about a month ago, Saint John's
as well, and then I did like a NBA Finals winner,
March Madness winner, and then like some other thing in there,
and I took I think I took Okay c to
win the NBA and Houston in that one.
Speaker 3 (50:59):
So sadly, that's a pretty good ticket. Hold onto oh three,
all three are I sadly have no tickets. I didn't
do futures this year.
Speaker 4 (51:06):
The only ticket I have is an embarrassing Illinois future
that is like dead and like I had, Illinois went
in my bracket last year.
Speaker 3 (51:13):
I'm pretty sure last year.
Speaker 6 (51:16):
Yeah, yeah, I'll say I only have two futures. It's
Marilyn of course sixty one and I Florid. Yeah no,
they were not highly doubted a while ago. So hopefully
Maryland makes a run. So those those are my two futures.
Speaker 3 (51:31):
Let's take a break.
Speaker 4 (51:32):
On the other side, we're talking a little more basketball,
a little more a little more college basketball as well, and.
Speaker 3 (51:37):
We're gonna talk a little Phils.
Speaker 4 (51:39):
We're talking a little MLB, a little wind totals, some
some stuff we can expect for the upcoming MLB season
back after this at the Philly Show.
Speaker 1 (51:47):
Number one on your car radio preset hand the new
and improved Diehard Radio w D A Yes and w
D two seven three D Philadelphia is Fox Sports Radio

Speaker 3 (52:15):

these Philadelphia legends.
Speaker 3 (52:30):
Everybody, come out.
Speaker 4 (52:31):
I know they're back here again tomorrow, Yes, tomorrow, so
big names, Chase Utley, Chase tomorrow tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (52:37):
I believe so Degene will be here today, but he
will also be here tomorrow. What a what a what
a guy? Moro Jomo will be here tomorrow.
Speaker 5 (52:45):
Future still stud right now, and a few others, a
few others and Nia Smith Ringo nice.
Speaker 3 (52:55):
Yeah, yeah, absolutely.
Speaker 4 (52:57):
So if you got super Bowl champions, they are all
super Bowl champs. We've got Cam Jurgens here as well.
We got We got a ton of a ton of
guys here. It's really really cool.
Speaker 3 (53:07):
This is beef in the house. We got some beef
in the house. We got beef in the house for sure.
Fred Johnson right behind this, gotta we got a little
little dog right behind us. That's dogs. There's a kind
expone next door. Maybe you got you come in here,
you get some autodash, you go in and get some boots.
Maybe maybe maybe they're gonna have nick foles like sign
the dog. I like that, shave it into the dog.
Speaker 5 (53:31):
Never I did see I will say this, probably the
coolest thing you see is and you can get them somewhere.
But a few people have bobbleheads that are about three
and a half feet tall, and they're like they're like
it's like full body jail and hurts bobblehead.
Speaker 3 (53:47):
But it's creepy. But it's probably about like this tall.
I just thought they walk in with like their own
Dolly because it's like four feet off. The dollies are crazy.
Speaker 4 (54:00):
We're seeing a bunch of these people with Dolly's with
a whole a whole ton of uh merch.
Speaker 3 (54:06):
I respect it. I'm just gonna sign anything. I'm gonna
sign anything here at the Philly Show. You want your
forehead signed, whatever you want, they'll sign it. We got
we got Luke popping packs over here. We got we
got Wheelers sitting over there. I saw Paul.
Speaker 5 (54:23):
Schemes later because I don't I'm not huge in the
baseball cards when I'm not here, but when I'm here,
they turn into like an addiction.
Speaker 3 (54:33):
Yeah, I want a good one. Was the Gunner one?
Is cool? There's one Soda one Yankees? This yeah, really
really cool. I'm just really cool.
Speaker 4 (54:45):
Stuff all over all over the joint, whether it be closed,
whether it be cards, whether it be collectibles.
Speaker 3 (54:50):
In general, everybody come check it out. But let's giant. Hey,
now we dropped something.
Speaker 4 (54:57):
Big news the Giants. We signed Tommy DeVito. Huge news,
shaking news. Yeah, I'm actually surprised. How's Tommy DeVito?
Speaker 3 (55:07):
Not an equal? Tommy? Get him in one next year
in New York. Get him in the building. He'll be one.
Rogers were gonna have a battle some other there was
some other NFL news just to go down. It might
as well.
Speaker 4 (55:18):
Gregory Russo, guy, I absolutely love. I attached myself to
these guys who I call my guys.
Speaker 3 (55:24):
In the game. You gotta have your guys, Yeah, have to.
Gregory Russo was I.
Speaker 4 (55:27):
Think my number five overall player in his draft. Bill's
got him at thirty. He's turned into an absolute stud.
Four years eighty million dollars there that they just gave him.
I actually think they got a steal on that deal,
to be quite honest. GASICKI though, three years, twenty five million.
Speaker 3 (55:43):
Yeah, three years? How old is here? Just like a
lot of money for Mike Gazicki. I think he's probably
thirty be my guest. Whity nine sixty five.
Speaker 4 (55:51):
Catches for six hundred sixty five yards and two touchdowns.
Adam Scheffer's referring to that as a breakout season.
Speaker 3 (55:56):
Eight and a half million a year for that, that's crazy.
Agent told him to say it. Yeah, that is true. Schefter.
Speaker 4 (56:04):
Part of my take though, such a good job getting
me to not dislike Schefter and getting me to like
not think he's a loser.
Speaker 3 (56:12):
O'Connell I.
Speaker 4 (56:16):
Some people know this about me, big movie guy, And
when I was a kid, I always wanted to write movies.
Speaker 3 (56:21):
That was like my dream of what I wanted to
do one day. So I still, you know, mess around
sometimes pitching movie ideas in my notes, writing stuff up.
Speaker 4 (56:30):
So it's a little little hobby. It's like writing, but
there's absolutely no upside to it. But part of my
take has made me want to pursue my dream to
become a director so I can make Jerry.
Speaker 3 (56:40):
O'Connell the start he should be.
Speaker 4 (56:42):
Jerry O'Connell should be an A list superstar, Will Ferrell
level comedy actor. I don't think there's anyone on the
planet who makes me laugh the way Jerry O'Connell does
on part of my take.
Speaker 3 (56:53):
And it's he's such a great like system for him
over there.
Speaker 6 (56:57):
They really can make anyone look good like he's that
I've ever thought that I watched every single week interview
on the podium.
Speaker 3 (57:06):
That was the best. He looks so likable. That's just
what PMT does. They make guys look likable and cool
in the sense.
Speaker 6 (57:12):
And then Jerry O'Connell's is that anyway super model model wife,
by the way that he's the man.
Speaker 3 (57:18):
Yeah, it's just I don't know.
Speaker 4 (57:20):
That was not what I didn't plan on talking about
Jerry O'Connell, But joc what an absence. So by the
way we're keeping if I'm talking movies. The oscars just happened,
I tweeted back in August. August twenty twenty four, when
I saw the trailer for A Nora, I tweeted out,
Mikey Madison was born to play this role.
Speaker 3 (57:40):
She's a star.
Speaker 4 (57:41):
This is gonna be best Picture. And then when I
saw it in November December, whenever I saw it, I tweeted,
best Actress, best Picture, Mikey Madison, give her everything.
Speaker 5 (57:50):
Markey Movies over here, Marky Movies, Get at me, Jansen,
No more, Johnny Cinema, Mark Johnny Jansen.
Speaker 3 (57:56):
I'm the movie guy here at the Gambler.
Speaker 4 (57:59):
I I really wish you could buy stock in actors
and actresses because I would be a millionaire on Mikey
Madison right now.
Speaker 3 (58:09):
I would have bought Sidney Sweeney stock.
Speaker 6 (58:11):
When I saw the first season one of White Lotus
before she was free Euphoria.
Speaker 3 (58:16):
I never watched you for it, so I have no idea.
I think it was okay.
Speaker 6 (58:19):
That's that's I would have bought stock back then, I'd
be a bazillion or now.
Speaker 5 (58:23):
I will say, I don't know if we want any
Sixers news, but the tank is still on. No PG
tomorrow and unlikely to see Maxie as well. The tank
is it's the Jazz so that lose every single game
the rest of the season.
Speaker 4 (58:38):
Yeah, I mean I every game they lose is the positive.
Every game they win as a negative. I'm not gonna
watch single one of them.
Speaker 3 (58:45):
No, I'm not either.
Speaker 5 (58:46):
No, last last Sixers game I watched top to bottom
was Christmas Day and the only reason I watched.
Speaker 3 (58:52):
To watch more that was the best game of the year. Well,
I watch the.
Speaker 5 (58:54):
Only reason I watched the top to bottom was because
the Houston Ravens game was so bad Christmas. And if
it wasn't bad, I wouldn't have watched the Sixers. I've
watched like some minutes. But it's just it's just absolutely unwatchable.
Speaker 4 (59:12):
If we're if we're talking, let's real quick, let's get
back to the Geno thing. This is uh, We're gonna
go way back. We talked about that in the first hour. Obviously,
if we weren't listening, Gino Smith traded to the Raiders
four third round pick. The Seahawks are gonna go out
and sign Sam Donald. It appears it's so basically just
to swap out Let's Ryan Cat just I'm gonna throw
(59:35):
names that you guys tell me if they're better than Geno,
I'm not gonna throw I'm not gonna throw the Big
five at you.
Speaker 3 (59:40):
Mahomes Lamar Alan Burrow Hurts whatever.
Speaker 4 (59:42):
Order absolutely absolutely has to be five months ago. And
by the way, I think there's a massive gap from
five to six. Whoever I think six is and I
don't even know we can we can have that debate
who we think six is after that five. But I'll
read your names. Tell me the bad Gina Jordan Love, Yes,
(01:00:03):
I agree, she just shrouded. Yes, Jadan Daniels, Yes. Justin Herbert, Yes, yeah, ready.
Speaker 3 (01:00:11):
Ready in three Sean firm firm on this end there there,
Sean is. Absolutely I'll take Tommy Cutlets over Herbert too.
I'm so mad.
Speaker 4 (01:00:30):
It's sewing for stealing Justin Herbert hatred from me. It's
it is absolutely uh, it is dumbfounding. Yeah, we got
these kids, bro, kids. This is by the way, I
said this earlier and absolutely like I can't think of
a cooler thing as a kid, like larger than life
(01:00:50):
athletes that you watch, you watch.
Speaker 3 (01:00:52):
The super Bowl and then you go get it. Signed
by Is beyond beyond cool? Did I? I said dak No,
But I would take that.
Speaker 4 (01:01:03):
So that's ten if we're all saying, if we're all
saying Herbert Baker, Baker, I agree, Goff. This is the
name I think I would have said above Gino recently.
I'm taking Geno over Kyler. I'm done with Kyler. I'm
done the guys.
Speaker 3 (01:01:18):
I think.
Speaker 4 (01:01:21):
Tyler there's there's so many problems once he kicks up
any injury.
Speaker 3 (01:01:27):
That's that's fair, that's fair.
Speaker 4 (01:01:29):
I do feel like he's had multiple chances here, like
when when he got there. I don't think that they
were too bad. After that second third year, they had
a pretty they still at Hopkins. Then, they had a
better O line then. And I'm of the opinion that's
I've said this a bunch.
Speaker 3 (01:01:43):
The Cardinals have to do something there right now.
Speaker 4 (01:01:45):
They didn't fire their head coach, they didn't fire their
offensive coordinator, and they still have Kyler Murray on that
big deal.
Speaker 3 (01:01:51):
You can't bring back all three, though. Someone has to
be the problem.
Speaker 4 (01:01:57):
It absolutely might be gannon one of them has to
be the problem, though, But the reason that I kind
of think it might.
Speaker 3 (01:02:03):
Be it might be Kyler. Look at what Kingsboy did
with Jayden Daniels this season.
Speaker 4 (01:02:08):
I don't think we ever saw that peak from Kyler
to get to what Jaydon Davis.
Speaker 3 (01:02:13):
He was never as good as what Jayden Daniels did
this year. And maybe he could say Washington had better weapons.
Speaker 4 (01:02:20):
I don't think Washington had a great I'll take I'll
take Kyler over Gina.
Speaker 3 (01:02:25):
But it's not crazy. I think Kyler. I think Kyler
is a better quarterback. I just don't think.
Speaker 5 (01:02:29):
He's shown enough that he's a better quarterback. But I
think deep down he's a better quarterback. And this is like,
I hate talking about sports this way.
Speaker 3 (01:02:36):
But is he a loser? Like I think like I
think he might just be a loser Kyler.
Speaker 6 (01:02:41):
I mean there was a stipulation in his contract that
he has to watch a certain amount of film.
Speaker 3 (01:02:47):
I don't know if that makes him a loser.
Speaker 4 (01:02:49):
He might be a loser if they if they faced
off in a fight. But we got people here chiming
in from from the Philly Show. Awesome, awesome to see
all these people. Uh, Key Shank Oh news from Iowa State.
Key Sean Gilbert out for today's game.
Speaker 6 (01:03:05):
It gets take so many injuries and like I like
that going on a run is just so many absolute shamnels.
Lest Yes, he's in a class case of emotion. It's
a shame seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve. So that's
if we're saying Kyler, that's thirteen guys.
Speaker 3 (01:03:21):
Of Gino, Rock, Perty or Gino. Oh yeah, i'll tell
you this, Gina. I'll say this, but not confidently. If
you play.
Speaker 5 (01:03:34):
Brock party, if it's that twenty twenty three Niners offense,
I think Brock would run that offense better than Gino would.
Speaker 3 (01:03:42):
I think that's I don't think by a lot.
Speaker 6 (01:03:44):
I think that's a good point because I think Rock
is a better game manager than Gino could be, just
like making the easy throws, check down stuff like that,
and I don't think I think he's better that than Gino.
Speaker 3 (01:03:54):
And that's all you need to be in the offense.
That's a close one for me, though, that's a close one.
Speaker 4 (01:03:58):
I'll take Gino, but it's it's close on either side
for sure. Stafford, Yeah, Stafford. And then the last one
that I even think is debatable to Gina.
Speaker 3 (01:04:10):
Gino, I'm taking. I'm out onto it. I'm not done
with it just yet, Like not as the top ten guy.
Speaker 6 (01:04:19):
I don't never think that, but I think to still
has is he still has potential to be like a
very good quarterback in the league.
Speaker 3 (01:04:27):
Yeah, and you know, not saying Geno doesn't. I'm going
to over Gina. I think I'm all the way out
onto it. I'm close. I'm close to being that injury
because of injuries. Yeah, it's a huge part of it. Like, yeah,
that's really the thing with him. Yeah, yeah. I do
also think the thing with him is that he like
he's another loser, like another guy. Every time he's well,
(01:04:51):
every time he's been.
Speaker 4 (01:04:51):
In a big game in the NFL, it does feel
like he triples, and even outside injury, it's.
Speaker 6 (01:04:56):
Not like he's ever been favored in those big games
or expected to win. He's all he has been expected
to lose with the undergolf.
Speaker 3 (01:05:01):
That's fair.
Speaker 5 (01:05:02):
I'm also I think part of the reason why I'm
out on two is because I think I'm also out
on Mike McDaniel.
Speaker 4 (01:05:07):
I'm in on I think the reason I'm out on
two is because I'm in on McDaniel. I'm outel And
I think if we got a real quarterback who he
didn't have to worry about going out every third game.
I think it might might make us think a little
differently than mcdown. I think him being on the hot
seat is crazy.
Speaker 3 (01:05:23):
I'm done with the shtick of like trying to be
this like cool guy. The shtick is certainly not a school.
He needs to win a big game before he can
be a cool guy. The stick is certainly not cool
when you're losing. I'm not saying that I don't think.
Speaker 5 (01:05:34):
He's cool, But is there anybody else that would be
debatable on that list? I don't think fringe against.
Speaker 3 (01:05:40):
Russ Fields, Trevor Darnold, Well, Trevor is an interesting I
think i'd Trevor. I take Trevor. Let's let's see take Trevor.
Speaker 4 (01:05:48):
I mean Trevor has a higher upside. I think Gino
was unquestionably been again.
Speaker 3 (01:05:54):
The system coaching weapons like all that matter is I mean,
has Seattle have like this amazing system? No, Look, they've
had DK Metcalf, they've had. My take on DK Metcalf
is that he's not a top twenty wide receiver twenty,
but that seems like a stretch.
Speaker 4 (01:06:09):
He finished his wide receiver thirty two in Fantasy Wide
Receivers thirty three and points per game basis last year,
and he missed two games, but that fighters in the
points for game. And he's never really had like a
top fifteen season like yeah, or he might have had
won inside the top fifteen. I think they're talking about
him getting a.
Speaker 3 (01:06:26):
First and a third. That's inact given. I don't think,
yeah exactly. I don't think you're giving up the thirty
second like outside obviously we don't. We don't have interest.
Speaker 4 (01:06:36):
If you're the Chiefs, I don't think you're giving up
the thirty first pick for DK Metcalf.
Speaker 3 (01:06:40):
No, I'd rather think maybe after what happened today, that's
another conversation.
Speaker 4 (01:06:45):
Chiefs certainly out of the tight Another another arrest at
the wide receiver position, Xavier Worthy and some.
Speaker 3 (01:06:51):
It seems to be a dark one. Yeah, so to
say the least, I guess what was what was Rashi?
It was just it was it d u? I yeah,
something like that. You never know, left the scene or
of an accident or something.
Speaker 6 (01:07:04):
Yeah, look, Andy Reid, say what you want about him.
He gives guy chances, gives guys second chance.
Speaker 4 (01:07:09):
It'll bite you sometimes, but obviously sometimes it'll play out
a break and on the other side.
Speaker 3 (01:07:15):
We're gonna come back and finish out the show here.
Speaker 4 (01:07:18):
I'll talk a radio show from the Philly Show at
the x PERHP.
Speaker 3 (01:07:22):
A tap in for the other side.
Speaker 9 (01:07:25):
Spreads totals and all the prop that's in between. It's
the gambler, no matter what you say, who you too?
Speaker 3 (01:07:47):
Okay?
Speaker 10 (01:07:48):
Hold wait a minute, all good? Just the week ago
prow at my house and we party every weekend. So
on the radio, that's my favorite song. Make me bounce
around like I don't know, like I won't be here
now the three this, I'm.
Speaker 3 (01:08:01):
Welcome back to the Tough Cover radio show.
Speaker 4 (01:08:04):
Anytime Sean Bernard drops a little childish gambino on the
I'm gonna let that play out for for just a
few seconds.
Speaker 3 (01:08:10):
Out of the outro.
Speaker 4 (01:08:11):
That is my my like no, I don't know if
you know this, Sam, that's like my number one human
of all time, Donald Lover, Yeah, everything, give give it
to give me all of that's the annoying part. So
all of the musicians, this is our little music corner here,
all of the musicians that I bought stuck in as
(01:08:33):
a let's say pre teen the teenager.
Speaker 3 (01:08:36):
And I think that's like most people I know another
one that you have. Yeah. Yeah, for most people.
Speaker 4 (01:08:41):
When you're a preteen or a teenager, I feel like
those are the people you're probably gonna stick with for
the rest of your life if they stay like big
celebrities or stay on the top of the scene.
Speaker 3 (01:08:49):
My big guys were.
Speaker 4 (01:08:52):
Childish, Gambino, Chance, the rapper, Mac Miller, and Kanye West
r I p also, So those were like my four guys.
Everybody I had guys I liked here and there, you know,
and I like Drake, I like Kendrick at different times
in their career.
Speaker 3 (01:09:08):
But like I those were my guys. You buy stock,
I should when you buy and years later I should
notice that.
Speaker 4 (01:09:16):
Yeah, well then you should know Olivia on Rigo's in
trouble because that's like I'm in ongo absolutely superstar.
Speaker 3 (01:09:23):
But uh yeah, I h I have it is.
Speaker 4 (01:09:27):
It's funny like I don't have any concert bucket list
things life like I went. I've seen blakelen Ady too,
I'm seeing Oasis this year this summer in met life.
I've seen Childish, I've seen Chance, I've seen Mac Miller
before he passed, so and Kanye kind of ruined it.
Speaker 3 (01:09:45):
Like I don't think I can ever see Kanye.
Speaker 6 (01:09:46):
Yeah, I mean Kanye was my favorite too. It's an
absolute job now, but he was like my favorite artist. Yeah,
like ever bro, Yeah, Like, I mean he was a
different person. I look at it like he was a
different person in those twenty ten than he is now.
So like I don't feel for like loving him back then,
but now, he said, nut.
Speaker 4 (01:10:02):
I mean you look at the run from late registration
or college drop la registration, graduation aa'd be dark fantasy
all the I mean.
Speaker 3 (01:10:12):
Just put them in the goat covers. I mean, to me,
it's the conversation ended.
Speaker 4 (01:10:15):
But then he's oaping it back up with his own
actions in my opinion, But that's another topic for another day.
Let's get it back over to the college basketball slate.
Let's pull up what's going on so far on the
board in the top twenty five. Let's go to the
top twenty five matchups for the day. Saint John's at Marquette.
Marquette up by four halfway through the first. Kentucky Missouri
(01:10:41):
that over. It's a little bit of trouble here. Sam
oh Wow, fifteen eleven, fifteen eleven, eight minutes left in
the first.
Speaker 3 (01:10:48):
We're gonna have to get some score in there.
Speaker 4 (01:10:50):
At the end of the first Mississippi State up to
in the first half again Arkansas.
Speaker 3 (01:10:54):
Big matchup for Arkansas there get in. I think they're
on the wrong side of the bubble if they don't
win this, If they don't win this, yeah, yes, I
agree they would that there's a chance. I mean, I
think that Carolina the other game, bad loss. They got
blow Now if they win it, I think they're in. Yeah.
If I win, If they win, they think they're in.
I don't think brutal bubble. West Virginia being on the
(01:11:19):
bubble to me is crazy year too.
Speaker 4 (01:11:22):
I don't get it. I think West Virginia stinks. Let's
run through the top twenty five matchups. At one o'clock,
we have Penn State at Wisconsin, Wisconsin the number twelve
team in the country. Wisconsin favored by eleven and a half.
Iowa State at Kansas State, Iowa State favored by six
and a half. We talked about that uh with when
(01:11:42):
we mentioned Nick McClay Keishan Gilbert.
Speaker 3 (01:11:44):
Not active for that game. South Carolin South Carolina at Tennessee.
Nick McLay said, Nick McClay gilbert not active for that game.
Nick McClay probably not active, Nicky, let me break the news.
Speaker 4 (01:11:57):
Nick McClay will not be playing for the state in
that game. At two o'clock, South Carolina at Tennessee Tennessee
minus fifteen and a half is Stanford Louisville Louisville minus.
Speaker 3 (01:12:09):
Ten and a half. That games at two o'clock. I
gave out the under there.
Speaker 4 (01:12:12):
We talked Alabama Auburn, Auburn seven and a half point favorite.
Speaker 3 (01:12:17):
That's uh, let's get that's the game today. Absolutely what
we got over there. So we'll say this.
Speaker 5 (01:12:23):
So we're gonna rip one of these on here, and
then we are going to keep the stream live after
we're on the radio, and we're gonna rip the two
other ones. You know what, let's do the basketball on
this stream.
Speaker 8 (01:12:36):
WHOA.
Speaker 3 (01:12:37):
This is a basketball mystery pack.
Speaker 5 (01:12:39):
It can include rookies, game used autographs, number cards, craded cards,
and more.
Speaker 3 (01:12:44):
The thing is, there's one card in this pack. One card.
Speaker 6 (01:12:47):
One.
Speaker 3 (01:12:48):
There's one card. I'm pretty sure that's at least what
Power said. So we're gonna rip this. I don't know
anything about the card.
Speaker 6 (01:12:54):
I don't know anything about the card collector, but I
will say I don't like, what are the most what
do you want?
Speaker 5 (01:13:03):
There's not one card here, there's multiple, but I think
it's one special one.
Speaker 3 (01:13:06):
I have no idea what this says.
Speaker 5 (01:13:07):
We're gonna rip it open. If you're listening on the radio,
we'll let you know what it is. You're on the stream,
then you'll see it.
Speaker 3 (01:13:13):
But here we go. I have no idea what Mark?
That's incredible? Okay, we got.
Speaker 5 (01:13:26):
All right, we got DeAndre and with the Hawks though,
we got an old old Matista stible Marquee car like that,
David Roddy, David Roddy.
Speaker 3 (01:13:36):
Jalen Duran like that one. We got Jalen Durant.
Speaker 6 (01:13:39):
Now we're getting into like the some nice ones. We
got a James Wiseman. Okay, that's probably not worth much
to Killian Hay's cards. Those probably not.
Speaker 3 (01:13:52):
Another James Wiseman. All right, so we're gotting shafted here
clearly and none. Yeah, it's bad, bad packed. Terry Rozier.
That one actually looks kind of cool. I don't even
know how to say that name.
Speaker 4 (01:14:05):
By the way, did you guys see did you guys
see the video that went viral?
Speaker 3 (01:14:09):
If Terry Rose hear the other day?
Speaker 4 (01:14:10):
What was that how he was like, obviously he's being
investigated for like throwing games and everything.
Speaker 3 (01:14:16):
He had a game the.
Speaker 4 (01:14:16):
Other day where he looked like if you threw like
a fourteen year old into an NBA game. Just look
up Terror gre on Twitter and watch that that video.
Speaker 3 (01:14:24):
It's insane. Wow. Okay, we have an ultra power Chris webercard.
Okay that on.
Speaker 6 (01:14:32):
That one's pretty sweet. We're putting that one to the side.
Another Kendrick Nunn quick story about Kendrick Nunn.
Speaker 3 (01:14:39):
I was just in Greece. I was with some Greek
basketball teams. You know what I learned about Kendrick Nunn.
Hendrick Nunn was out of the league because of domestic violence.
Speaker 6 (01:14:47):
Part of the reason why he's out of the league
NBA because domestic violence, and he had to go to Greece,
and they have no real laws in Greece, like there's
police presence is not very powerful in Greece. Kendrick Nunn
apparently has been arrested in quotation marching multiple times for
the same thing and just doesn't get in any troub.
Speaker 3 (01:15:03):
All right, So we'll get rid of that cart. What
do you know about He's a bad guy? You know
about what do you know about Ethan Hat from Wisconsin?
Speaker 8 (01:15:12):
Not a lot.
Speaker 5 (01:15:13):
I know the name obviously, but not always. That's the
one in the in the case, so that is signed.
I don't know who that is either. You're you guys
are more of the basketball guys.
Speaker 6 (01:15:27):
Tommaransky he was on the Wizards right one for Knox
and we have multiple more more cars.
Speaker 3 (01:15:36):
So that was kind of a mess.
Speaker 5 (01:15:39):
But if you do hang on the stream after one o'clock,
we're gonna rip the baseball one and we also have
a football one as well. I feel like Chris Weber
could be worse, but yeah, we'll we'll go check him out.
We'll look him up eventually. But that is it for
the basketball mystery pack.
Speaker 3 (01:15:55):
Mark.
Speaker 4 (01:15:56):
Yeah, I had something throwing me a little bit off
that I showed you guys with separately. But we're gonna
get right back about it and we're gonna talk fight
through adversity. Let's get back and preview the rest of
the college basketball State. We stopped on Alabama Auburn. Alabama Auburn.
Biggest game of the day. Sam has Alabama plus seven
and a half, believing in a little bit of three
(01:16:18):
point variants I believe it is the argument there only
mid five threes last time they played them. Alabama. It
feels like every time I get in on Alabama they
have a big loss. So I'm kind of scared. I
believe in Alabama. I believe in the talent. I think
Mark Series is awesome. I think Grant Nelson steps up
in big games like I thought we did last year
(01:16:40):
in a couple those tournament gas was unbelievable.
Speaker 3 (01:16:42):
I'm buying in on.
Speaker 4 (01:16:42):
A lot of these teams that there's a few teams
that made deep runs in the tournament and kept a
couple of marquee players from those teams. Alabama is one
of those, Clemson is one of those. It's kind of
a little bit of some of those teams that I'm
buying stocking.
Speaker 3 (01:16:55):
You may make a bet. I bet I'd be betting
Alabama in that game, but I'm staying away. It's gonna be.
Speaker 6 (01:16:59):
Mad to a dependent for me a lot and their
path how far I have Alabama going. But the thing
going into the tournament last year with Bama was their defense.
The defense was horrible last year and they still went
to the Final four. They got timely stops, they weren't
a good defensive team in the tournament. They got timely
stops late in the second half, really at the under eight,
under four, four timeouts, and that's what propelled them to
(01:17:20):
that final four. And they just ran into a Yukon
team that was gonna beat anybody in the country. So
it don't really matter who Yukon was playing. That's the
same thing with this Alabama team. It's it's defense and
its turnovers. But they played with such high pace and
they shoot so many threes, so those turnovers kind of
gonna happen. It's kind of like that Warriors rule at
their hey day when they shot so many threes, played
with such a pace, so they had a lot of turnovers.
With this Bama team, I think their defense is good
(01:17:43):
enough to again get timely stops where I trust them
to make some type of ruck, Like I trust Alabama
in the tournament when they if they have a good
enough path to make.
Speaker 4 (01:17:51):
A Yeah, And I gotta be honest, I kind of
like that Bama's are two now, Like I kind of
liked it.
Speaker 6 (01:17:58):
The off the one line a little bit, like it
depends who the one is in the in the if
they're the top two seed, we'll have the worst ones.
Speaker 4 (01:18:06):
Well that's actually not gonna be the cases here because
they're not going to be in but another SEC team.
Speaker 3 (01:18:10):
Yeah, that's true. So they're gonna get They're gonna get too. Person,
I'm taking Bam over too, I'll tell you.
Speaker 7 (01:18:16):
That right now.
Speaker 6 (01:18:16):
Really really, I'm starting to get out on Duke. Wow,
like like, look at their only tough matchup.
Speaker 3 (01:18:24):
Let me let me read you a stat about the ACC.
Speaker 4 (01:18:26):
Give me, give me, sell me on sell me on
Duke being Uh why you're looking up that stat?
Speaker 5 (01:18:31):
This uh, this Chris webercard. If it is ungraded, it
is worth around a dollar and seventy big bucks and
that's gonna be the most valuable. We do need to
get it graded. So maybe yeah, maybe we'll sit. Maybe
it's something, But what about Ethan? I know that's the
next one I'm gonna look up. Sorry, continue with your
so so here.
Speaker 3 (01:18:51):
So when the closes, they see regular season closes on Saturday.
Speaker 6 (01:18:54):
Stat courtesy of David Teal Teams It's teams will have played.
Speaker 3 (01:18:58):
One hundred and eighty conference scheme. None of them will
have been ranked matchups. That is the first time since
nineteen sixty six six sixty seven season.
Speaker 6 (01:19:07):
Forty three of the one hundred and forty four SEC
League contest will have been ranked versus ranked games.
Speaker 3 (01:19:12):
Well, that is how bad all the a I you
do know that the SEC is only five hundred.
Speaker 6 (01:19:20):
Yes, yes, shout out Carl Rabbits and who else got
caught by that?
Speaker 3 (01:19:24):
I don't even the coach, right, Yeah, he was making
fun of it. The coach was making fun of it,
Mark Pope making fun of them.
Speaker 4 (01:19:30):
No, I think there was a coach who did get
gott like like yeah it Ohio State's coach or something.
Speaker 3 (01:19:36):
Some some like low level. It was not a big name,
but some like newer, younger coach.
Speaker 6 (01:19:40):
So the point is that the ACC has been so
bad and like Duke's only test over the last two
months is is Clemson, and they lost to them, like
they lost to.
Speaker 3 (01:19:48):
Clempson their only test.
Speaker 6 (01:19:50):
The thing I'll say is I think they're talented enough
where like they're not going to be an early exit.
We'll get to the second round. They'll probably get unless
they played Maryland the Sweet sixteen.
Speaker 3 (01:19:58):
I got Maryland over them. That matchup would be a
newark at the Prudential Center. You know, I'll be in the.
Speaker 6 (01:20:04):
Yeah, they haven't played since Maryland left the a SEC,
so that would be an electric game. But the thing
about Duke is like, I think they'll get far enough
to the maybe the Elite eight when they play a
buzz saw of the team, one of these physical opponents
who can score with anybody, like an Auburn, like like
a Houston, I don't trust Duke to get it done,
like an Alabama like this, you can't win with freshmen.
(01:20:26):
You haven't seen you win with freshmen. And I understand
that they have the veteran presence of Tyres Tractor and
some other guys, but still, like and the freshmen or
more mature Cooper Flags, mature Kank Nipples matured quite a
bit throughout the year.
Speaker 3 (01:20:39):
You can't win with freshman.
Speaker 6 (01:20:40):
It's never It hasn't happened in years really since Nova
showed the world that, like, you gotta win.
Speaker 3 (01:20:46):
With veteran guys.
Speaker 6 (01:20:47):
So I'm I'm not super high on this Duke team
that they're gonna automatically waltz the way into the championship
and it's gonna be a lock between Duke and Houston
or Duke at.
Speaker 3 (01:20:55):
Auburn for the for the type I love Houston. Yeah,
I'm I'm all in on Houston.
Speaker 4 (01:21:00):
I think that they I feel like it's also I
feel like so many of the most recent years people
have been telling me that Houston's gonna win the title.
Speaker 3 (01:21:07):
No one's telling that Houston's gonna win the title right now.
It feels like everything's Auburn and Auburn duke.
Speaker 6 (01:21:11):
Dude, people are saying it's gonna be Auburn duke. Similar
to that Baylor can Zaga year twenty twenty one, Yeah,
where they just walked to the pot. But there was
no Houston that year. There was no thirdeam that was
like at all and poor with those other two teams.
Speaker 4 (01:21:22):
I feel like Florida and Alabama throughout different points of
the season have been talked about more and given more
than Houston has.
Speaker 3 (01:21:29):
I agree, just because the SEC has gotten so much. Look,
I mean still really good.
Speaker 6 (01:21:34):
Big twelve's awesome. I mean, Kansas is faster, Texas and Arizona.
Speaker 3 (01:21:39):
Iowa State for most of this year was also not
I'm not out of the Iowa state. Also, you said
you're out in Illinois. It's just hard. You know how
high I was on illin.
Speaker 6 (01:21:50):
But they're healthy they're getting healthy again now big win
over products.
Speaker 3 (01:21:56):
They're going to be an eight sea. I know they
could be one of those eight seeds. That makes s
I know. But talking about get to that seven line,
like if you could get Illinois to that.
Speaker 6 (01:22:06):
Seven one, like if it's Illinois versus Florida, Florida, Yeah,
Florida's gonna be that last one.
Speaker 4 (01:22:12):
See, I like Illinois to potentially could, but I would
rather get like Wisconsin to or like Michigan State. Oh yeah,
for sure, John, I love Saint John's but like all those. Yeah,
it's interesting. I we are right in the thick of
it now. I mean next next week we will be
previealing Sunday Someday, and it'll be It's interesting because I
(01:22:37):
feel like year after year, Sunday is devalued by the
committee and they almost like all right teams in one
and if you lost throughout so Saturday, I think we're
gonna have.
Speaker 3 (01:22:46):
A really clear picture next week. I'll have to bring
it back on to.
Speaker 9 (01:22:52):
Selection.
Speaker 4 (01:22:53):
Yeah, yeah, we're definitely gonna do we we found out
a couple of years in a row, but I'm sure
it will absolutely do something. Yeah, in case anyone did
miss my picks. I ran through them earlier in the
show two o'clock. I've got the under at one forty
nine and a half SAM for Louisville over one thirty
nine and a half, Northwestern Maryland under one thirty six
and a half, TCU Colorado under one thirty eight and
(01:23:15):
a half, Dukene Saint Louis I think that's one thirty nine.
Speaker 3 (01:23:17):
And a half.
Speaker 4 (01:23:18):
Actually North I would say in Urkyaha Nebraska Omaha minus
four versus South Dakota at a thirty firm and plus
two and a half versus Sanford at ten o'clock, Houston
minus four and a half at Taylor eleven o'clock. You
see San Diego minus twelve and a half half, you
see Davis. But like a player, I did not give
out yet. There is a UFC pay per view to know, folks,
(01:23:41):
I am not the biggest UFC guy either of you either.
Speaker 8 (01:23:44):
You big UFC.
Speaker 3 (01:23:45):
Now, I'll never like turn it on like by myself.
Speaker 5 (01:23:49):
Like if we're watching it with the boys and they
bought it or were streaming it some other way, then yes, I.
Speaker 3 (01:23:56):
Have a buddy.
Speaker 4 (01:23:57):
I have a buddy who follows casually, gets most of
the paper reviews, I think, and he asked me to
come over and watch them, and I got nothing going
on except college basketball, so I'll be going to check
it out. I did some research something I always like
betting with UFC guys. I always like to and this
guy's like minus I'm not breaking any news here. This
guy's like minus four fifties. But what I'm gonna do
(01:24:17):
is I'm gonna bet him to win by knockout or TKO.
His name, let me get it right, Mauricio Ruffy is
his name, and he's going against King.
Speaker 3 (01:24:27):
He's going against a guy named King Green.
Speaker 4 (01:24:30):
Recio Ruffi eleven and one, two and oh in fights
in the USC, King Green thirty two, sixteen and one.
Speaker 3 (01:24:35):
I liked that. And the guys that are like ten
and one, ten and ohs, these guys who have fought
like eighty times.
Speaker 4 (01:24:42):
And had like fifteen losses. There's so many miles on him.
And obviously I'm not breaking news. He's minus now, he's
minus five twenty five, but he is minus one five
on FanDuel to win by TKO or KO. So I'm
going with that. I'm sprinkling on it. There are two
I always judge it by the amount of names. I
know Perreira in the in the in the main event,
(01:25:02):
that's a big name. He's the light heavyweight champion, and
then Justin Gaechee a big name as well. When twenty
he's twenty five and five, he's fighting in a lightweight fight.
He's actually an underdog in that. So for the UFC
heads out there.
Speaker 3 (01:25:14):
There you go, yeah, I know nothing about UFC, so
have nothing to add to that conversation. Well again, I'll
watch it if it's on my friends. But meanwhile, Luke
pulled out Kelly Ubray for the Wizards.
Speaker 5 (01:25:28):
I feel like that's something looked a lot different back then.
The hair looks a lot different than now. It definitely
looks a lot different. By the way, I don't know
why this made me think of this. Back to the
Denver nuggts, back to the NBA.
Speaker 3 (01:25:41):
Let's do it. Michael Porter Jr. Is underrated at this point. Oh,
he's underrated a good year the way people. Yeah, he's
having a great But here's why he's not underrated.
Speaker 6 (01:25:53):
He was horrible in the playoffs last year, so inefficient.
He was one of them, him and Jamal Murray both
for the reason is why.
Speaker 3 (01:26:00):
They couldn't get over that past the second round last year.
Speaker 6 (01:26:04):
I can't nothing Michael Porter Junior really does matters to
me at this point until the postseason.
Speaker 3 (01:26:11):
Needs help. I said, he's having a really good year,
but it doesn't matter until.
Speaker 6 (01:26:15):
The postseason, because's gonna help in the postseason.
Speaker 3 (01:26:19):
And you saw some of these teams recently have just
been clobbering Jokic.
Speaker 6 (01:26:22):
I mean, just forcing the Russell Westbrooks, the Erin Borden's,
the Michael Porter juniors to beat them and and it
has varying degrees of success in the playoffs. That's again
gonna be the strategy. I mean, talk if we bring
up the nugget, we shouldn't talking about Michael Porter junior
because Jokic just went for thirty twenty and twenty last night,
and he's good enough where saying, of course he's good
enough to carry anyone any team in a series, Michael
(01:26:44):
Port Junior is the biggest X factor for that team.
Speaker 3 (01:26:46):
Him and Jamal Murray.
Speaker 6 (01:26:47):
It's like, I'm not I'm not that high on him
because we've seen him kind of fall apart.
Speaker 3 (01:26:51):
And look, he was going through a lot last year
with his family and everything.
Speaker 4 (01:26:54):
But we've seen him fall apart in the playoffs sore
Nuggets Lakers second round?
Speaker 3 (01:26:59):
Who's winning?
Speaker 6 (01:27:00):
Oh Man?
Speaker 3 (01:27:00):
Does it depend on how so hard?
Speaker 6 (01:27:02):
Like, I gotta watch some more stuff, digging a little
that matchup a little more.
Speaker 3 (01:27:06):
I think i'd go the Nuggets right now. I don't
think the Lakers love an answer for jok It's a
bad matchup.
Speaker 6 (01:27:11):
I agree with you, but it's a bad, bad matchup
for the Lakers when they have Jackson playing serious minutes
like and.
Speaker 3 (01:27:20):
Like, I don't even know what they would do.
Speaker 6 (01:27:21):
They'd probably do something where they put a door in
Finney Smith or Roy when he comes back on Jokic
and I have like Jackson Hayes as a floater a
little bit and help he's not He's a good defender,
he's been better.
Speaker 3 (01:27:34):
Look, I'm a huge anti Jackson as guy. I think
he was horrible, but he's gonna be I have to
last few weeks. I just I don't trust him. That
is an immediate NICOLEA Jokic series. What do you mean?
Just big time number? What's he gonna like? I almost
I think I said this. I don't know.
Speaker 4 (01:27:52):
I almost think that's how I would want to deal
with It's just like, I'm not gonna double Yoki and
have him dish to all these guys shooting threes, like
have him go get sixty Like I almost I almost think,
and I know that that K's have done that, and
he's done it at times in the past, but I
almost would rather just kind of, I don't. It doesn't
(01:28:14):
bother me necessarily that they don't have Rudy Gobert. And
I guess what I should say is like, the only
team that's beaten Yolkic and figured him out while he's
been this guy has been a team that had two
bigs with Kat and Gobert.
Speaker 3 (01:28:27):
Nobody has that. So if we're besides the thunder and
again again but chet, are we putting chet on him?
Speaker 6 (01:28:34):
I don't they figured him out? That was that went
to a Game seven and the Nuggets had.
Speaker 3 (01:28:38):
A huge in that game. I didn't even mean that.
I didn't even mean that negatively. I just meant like, look,
and that's what they did.
Speaker 6 (01:28:46):
They cross matched where they put Karnthy Towns on Jokic
and had Rudy Gobert is the floater, which I think
a lot of people can implement because that's a strategy
now where it's like, yeah, you can help up with
like an Aaron Gordon who's always sitting in that under spot,
or maybe like a Russell Westbrook now and have your
center kind of float around the rim and you have
a smaller guy like Kronthy Towns which was last year
(01:29:08):
Gore Jokic, But the Lake Lakers don't have that personnel
A thunder did the Lakers done?
Speaker 4 (01:29:12):
But that's almost a little bit like it kind of
goes to my like, I think what Minnesota did is
kind of what like what I'm saying in terms of
letting making him be the fill point of the scoring
offense and don't put your best defender on him and
have him be floater and take away other stuff from
other guys. Obviously he's gonna help on him at times,
but I don't know. I think it's a really interesting conversation.
Speaker 3 (01:29:35):
I agree. So I think it's fifth to fifth.
Speaker 4 (01:29:37):
Yeah, I think that's who he's going seven. Yeah, they
plays Golden State? Are they right there with those teams
for you?
Speaker 6 (01:29:43):
No, No, they're step on just because like when coming
comes back has been out for a little bit, like
you like, he's good enough to be on the floor,
so is Draymond Green's defender, so is Jimmie Butler, and
Jim Butler's been awesome and providing so much relief for
Steph Curry.
Speaker 3 (01:29:55):
He shooting ten percent from three since since he became
a Warrior.
Speaker 6 (01:29:58):
Like, that's just too much shooting in the four, which
you can exploit in the playoffs when when your defense
small dolled in you're you're really locked in on your
matchups and your strategy, you can exploit that it's too
much non shooting on the four, Steph can go nuclear
and carry them to a couple of series wins.
Speaker 3 (01:30:13):
Maybe.
Speaker 6 (01:30:14):
But Lo and I said, I used to I used
to think the war is gonna be the third best
team in the West, But now I think the fourth
behind the Lakers, because I just I just think Luca
and mcbron had been too great. The Nuggets thing is
gonna come down to Jamal Murray, Michael Poor Junior.
Speaker 3 (01:30:27):
Like that's why it's so fifty to fifty.
Speaker 6 (01:30:28):
If I know those guys are giving you efficient, strong
productionist scores and helping you'll get you out. The Nuggets
will easily be in the Western Arms finals, and they
could even beat the Thunder.
Speaker 3 (01:30:39):
But I don't trust them for an entire two months.
Speaker 6 (01:30:41):
Stretching the playoffs. So I'm just not there yet. But look,
the West is gonna be an incredible playoff.
Speaker 3 (01:30:47):
Yeah, I can't wait.
Speaker 4 (01:30:48):
I think those are really the four And then it
seems like Houston Memphis obviously have done a lot of
winning this year. None of us are gonna take it
seriously until we see it in the playoffs, right, Yeah,
that's kind of where we're at.
Speaker 3 (01:31:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:31:00):
No, I I think for the West it's it's those
It's a very top heavy I would say it feels
like this year, like the team like the Warriors that
are down in the standings, I think they have a shot.
But that's that's the only team that's probably under the
four seed that I think has any sort of chance
to make any news. And you don't think you're getting
anything out of Memphis. I don't think you're getting anything
(01:31:22):
out of Houston.
Speaker 3 (01:31:23):
I think the Clippers could be sneaky if they get
the Clippers.
Speaker 4 (01:31:29):
I just think you look at what they did without
Kauai and now that he's come back, they have I
haven't checked it, and I know they.
Speaker 3 (01:31:35):
Started eleven and five in his first sixteen games. And
he played. I don't think they've been as good recently.
I have to go check. They've been slipping a little bit. Yeah,
and part of the reason is because Kawhi hasn't been
a lot.
Speaker 5 (01:31:46):
No, he's not.
Speaker 6 (01:31:47):
But you hope that you're gonna get carry them to
this point is their defense. The defense has been just phenomenal.
Of course, Norman Palace having a great sear. Harden was
an All Star and we saw his fifty ball the
other night, But why hasn't been Kawha And and that's
and that's the big thing, Like you need Kawhi to
be an all NBA level player, and he just hasn't
been like that. He's his drives, he can't get by
(01:32:09):
guys like that. His free throw numbers are down, his
drives don't look as clean. He's not really getting like
his his mid range used.
Speaker 3 (01:32:15):
To be so electric.
Speaker 6 (01:32:17):
He's not really getting those spots as easily. He just
he's injured and old. He isn't old the same Kawhi.
So I can't really trust the Clippers if we're not
gonna have that version.
Speaker 4 (01:32:25):
Of Kwa And honestly, I kind of agree now that
there the eight seed. I this was more in a
scenario that they would match up with a Memphis or
at Houston. Oh, I would like them in either of
this series. But right now, Memphis in Houston to the
four and the five.
Speaker 5 (01:32:37):
I was gonna say, And this is where it goes
back to Sam's point of okay see having an awesome path.
Oh well, if well, if it stays right, because they
would as of right now, if you take out the
nine and the ten.
Speaker 3 (01:32:50):
And you go seven eight, they would open up with
the Clippers.
Speaker 5 (01:32:53):
If they get past the Clippers, they'd probably play the
winner of.
Speaker 4 (01:32:57):
I do think that's a brutal eight seed. I think
the Clippers be a brutal eight compared to Minnesota.
Speaker 5 (01:33:02):
I would I would I would rather have if I
was okay see, I would rather play Minnesota Clippers.
Speaker 3 (01:33:09):
Or obviously the nine in the ten. But if that's
just the easiest past.
Speaker 4 (01:33:13):
Yeah, final, if Memphis and Houston are the four to
five and you're getting the winner of that, that's an
insanely easy path. Obviously, then you have the Lakers, who
would probably have to go Minnesota right now, Minnesota first round,
and then they'd probably have Golden We would probably see
Lakers Golden State second round if there's a if there's
an upset, yeah, so we'd probably be set up like
(01:33:36):
you said for Lakers Nuggets round two.
Speaker 3 (01:33:37):
But if it's Memphis, Houston, you taking, I'm taking Memphis.
I said this before. Houston's not winning playoffs series Memphis
as well guarantee that Memphis is the only team I
think they can.
Speaker 6 (01:33:48):
I agree, there's still I still don't think so becus
Memphis is just so much. And look, John Moran has
been disappointing this year, like driving two years ago. Obviously
last year doesn't count tw years ago and year before
that he was I having like twenty one times per game.
Speaker 3 (01:34:01):
We aren't talking enough about this statistical.
Speaker 6 (01:34:04):
Drop his drive, so only it drives per game or
like sixteen when I checked earlier this week. They're down
like more than the lowest of his career, which is
a problem. He's not some elite outside shooter, so he
has to get to the rim. I'm just out on
this Houston team because they have no playoff experience and
no closer, Like you can't trust anyone on that roster
late in games and clutch moments to give the ball to,
(01:34:25):
and you can't win against series against teams to have
playoff experience when you have nothing.
Speaker 3 (01:34:30):
So I'm out on this Houston team. I promise you
they're not winning a playoff series.
Speaker 4 (01:34:33):
I think, my big cake and this is actually less
about Houston and more Memphis for me.
Speaker 3 (01:34:38):
I don't think Memphis is winning a playoff series no
matter what. That's where I'm at this Jow. This decline
from Jaw is not being talked about nearly enough.
Speaker 4 (01:34:48):
He goes from averaging twenty seven point four twenty six
point twenty five point one, now he's down to twenty
one point two. You look at the percentage of you
shooting from the field over last four years forty nine,
having forty seven down to forty three, Like, I don't
even necessarily.
Speaker 3 (01:35:03):
Know if it's like, oh, it's a positive. The may
of Jaw, who has this like he's been there before
at least once or twice, like I think he is,
might just be like a total fraud, like I'm not
there yet. I think part of it is the thing
with the Drive thirty nine games and they've been really.
Speaker 6 (01:35:17):
Yeah, yeah, he's been there bringer without him because they're
so deep and Chandler Wells has been phenomenal in Zacht.
Speaker 3 (01:35:22):
He's actually been pretty good. I have a buddy who
makes thousands of dollars. If Jalen Wells Win's Workie of
the Year, I don't think you will. I think that's
uh Stefan Castle's awards, but it's possible. But the thing
about Jaws, he's trying to limit injury.
Speaker 6 (01:35:36):
That's the whole thing why he's not driving, because when
he drives, he takes off and he like Foles, he's
so athletic and dunks like crazy.
Speaker 3 (01:35:43):
Even said early, I'm not dunking as much.
Speaker 6 (01:35:45):
So he's trying to limit injury, which like makes sense
because he's been so injured throughout his career. But the
flip side is your team needs you to get to
the rim, Like it opens up so much when you're
getting to the rim because you're not some great outside shooter.
Speaker 3 (01:35:56):
So he's trying to bounce that.
Speaker 6 (01:35:58):
I just think it's a year where he was coming
He has not been bad this year, but he just
hasn't been the same job. But it's a year where
he's coming back off an injury, off last season's suspension disaster.
Speaker 3 (01:36:07):
All that. I'm not out on job, but it's been
a disappointing. Here, let's switch.
Speaker 4 (01:36:11):
Here's real fast. I did say we're gonna have to
close the show down here in a second. But I
did say we've got a little baseball talk.
Speaker 3 (01:36:19):
Back of my element. Here, come on news.
Speaker 4 (01:36:23):
Eric Cole getting his elbow checked out, gave up a
whole bunch of runs a spring training call or spring
training game.
Speaker 3 (01:36:29):
Now looks like we might be in the same spot
we were last year. Yep.
Speaker 5 (01:36:33):
I said a few weeks ago that I think the
biggest letdown in the American League is probably gonna be
the Yankees.
Speaker 3 (01:36:38):
I think they lost Soto.
Speaker 5 (01:36:40):
I think their lineup has a really good chance to
just be a retirement home. Like I don't think they'll
have it this year. I don't think losing Garrett Cole
is going to help that.
Speaker 3 (01:36:52):
That.
Speaker 5 (01:36:52):
Obviously, last night was brutal for them. He he sat
himself that it doesn't look good. So that seems like
it could be a long time thing. Yeah, I I
just don't like. I don't like where the Yankees are at.
I'm high on the Red Sox this year. I think
the Red Sox can win the division. I really like
their roster. I like the Red Sox roster more than
I like the Yankees right now.
Speaker 3 (01:37:13):
The Red Sox phil casual like me.
Speaker 5 (01:37:16):
So they got Bregman this offseason, they got Crochet, took
a chance on took a chance on Walker Bueller. Their
their opening day starter from last year is now their
fifth starter.
Speaker 3 (01:37:28):
So they're in good shape. Yeah. I like the lineup.
I like the rotation. I'd have to look at the bullpen.
Speaker 5 (01:37:34):
I don't think I love it, but I think they
I think the Red Sox right now are in a
better shape than the Yankees are. I I think you're
being a little too negative on the Yankees. I just
think they have a really good chance to be a retirement.
Speaker 3 (01:37:49):
It's not a bad take. I just think that the
pitching is so And you could.
Speaker 5 (01:37:53):
Say this about any other team, but they're an Aaron
Judge away. They're an Aaron Judge injury away from having
a god awful lineup. Oh god awful lineup.
Speaker 3 (01:38:03):
No no debate, there like no debate.
Speaker 5 (01:38:05):
Horrible and and and you could say about the Phillies
they're a Brice injury away. But they're really they are,
and they aren't the Yankees. If something happened to Judge
that that goes to a bottom ten lineup in baseball, probably.
Speaker 3 (01:38:18):
Best over, best under on the wind total boards.
Speaker 5 (01:38:20):
Oh man, I gotta pull them up really quick, I
said the other day, not my favorite. I really like
the Nationals over this year. I don't think they're gonna
be some crazy good team. I think there are a
few years away, but I think the Nationals have a
chance to be that young, that young, fun, like no
expectation team. So I do like the Nationals as far
(01:38:41):
as win total. I think I saw that around the
mid seventies.
Speaker 3 (01:38:45):
Mark.
Speaker 5 (01:38:45):
I think it was like low to mid seventies. I'm
trying to pull up these totals here.
Speaker 3 (01:38:52):
I'm trying to think. I do like the Diamondbacks win
total I think I saw. I think it's eighty six
and a half. I love that.
Speaker 5 (01:38:58):
I like the Padres is well. I know you're not
always high on the Padres, but I do like thereover
as well. Trying to think there was one them.
Speaker 3 (01:39:06):
Missing the playoffs, but I have them winning eighty seven games.
One more team that I really liked, and I have
to go down and find it.
Speaker 5 (01:39:14):
But I think, as a buddy of mine says, I
think they'll sleep walk the ninety wins their their rotations grows,
their lineup is still really good, whether you don't like
some of the guys or not, and you keep holding
on the last playoffs.
Speaker 3 (01:39:32):
I get it, and I don't. I'm trying to find
the Braves and Mets over the Fels. Mets.
Speaker 5 (01:39:42):
No. Oh, that's my biggest win total of the season.
The Mets under I don't.
Speaker 3 (01:39:46):
That's under. That's under no offense powers. I don't.
Speaker 5 (01:39:48):
I don't know if he's around here, but Mets underwins
is my favorite win total of all of them.
Speaker 3 (01:39:55):
My favorite over is probably Rangers over eighty five and
I half. I like that. I'm high on the Rangers.
And then my favorite under is probably Angels under two
and a half.
Speaker 5 (01:40:08):
I will say I like the Reds under as well.
I feel like that number is a little high. It's
at like seventy eight and a half right now. I
just I don't think the Reds roster is good enough
to win basically eighty games. I don't think. I don't
think they're like a five hundred baseball team next year.
Speaker 4 (01:40:25):
All right, we gotta wrap it up for schum Renard
back in the studio. That does it for the tough
Cart Radio show. Thanks to Sam, Thanks to Lout for
hanging out. Thanks everybody here at the Philly show. Really
really cool, really really cool day. Everybody come check it
out tomorrow here in OspA at the expos Center. That's
gonna do it tough cover country, Let's rop
