This is Wellness by Emergence Health Network

"This is Wellness," the podcast where wellness looks different for everyone.  This is Wellness is dedicated to conversations surrounding all things that contribute to, commandeer, and complicate our wellbeing. Season One is dedicated to all things wellness related to COVID 19. Join therapists Celeste Nevarez, LPC-S, and Sara Polk, LCSW-S, as they explore wellness with their guests and discover how to best care for all aspects of our lives – to include spiritual, emotional, social, physical and intellectual wellness. The World Health Organization (WHO), defines mental health as a “state of well-being in which every individual realizes his or her own potential, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to her or his community.” We hope you see elements of your own wellness in these conversations, whether that is in things that are going right for you or finding room to grow. This is Wellness is a partnership between Emergence Health Network, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso, and The Meadows Foundation.

We’re at our most vulnerable when we go to our doctors. We trust the person at the other end of that scalpel. We trust the hospital. We trust the system. Christopher Duntsch was a neurosurgeon who radiated confidence. He claimed he was the best in Dallas. If you had back pain, and had tried everything else, Dr. Duntsch could give you the spine surgery that would take your pain away. But soon his patients started to experience complications, and the system failed to protect them. Which begs the question: who - or what - is that system meant to protect? From Wondery, the network behind the hit podcast Dirty John, DR. DEATH is a story about a charming surgeon, 33 patients and a spineless system. Reported and hosted by Laura Beil.
