Shannon D. Martin (00:00):
Hello, beautiful welcome back.
I'm your host, hannon Martin, and welcome to another episode
of this Thing Called Godness.
Today, I'm inviting you into apersonal reflection, something I
think many of us can relate to.
It's about stepping into a newseason, when we're, our house is

(00:21):
a bit quieter and our lives maylook a little different than we
expected.
With Thanksgiving just aroundthe corner, I find myself in a
different kind of season.
My kids are celebrating withtheir friends this year and for
the first time, I'll be spendinga holiday without them.
There's a mix of emotions inthat, and I'm sure anyone who's

(00:45):
experienced an empty nest seasonknows, but over time I'm
learning that this quiet seasonhas its own gifts, and today
I'll be sharing a few thoughtson how to make peace with where
we are right now, reflecting ona new season.
Thanksgiving is usually a timeof gathering, bustling

(01:07):
preparations and laughterfilling the rooms.
This year, though, my holidaywill be a little different.
For the first time, I'll becelebrating without them.
At first, the quiet feltoverwhelming, a reminder of all
the changes that comes with lifeseasons.
Felt overwhelming, a reminderof all the changes that comes

(01:29):
with life seasons.
As I sit with it, yes, I'mbeginning to see the season
acquired as an opportunity, believe it or not.
It's given me time to listen tomy own voice, time to ask what
do I want for myself in thischapter?
What do I need to be or to feelfulfilled, and what might I
want to pursue?
Now and I have more space tothink, I'm beginning to

(01:53):
recognize that every season, even that seems quiet and lonely
, can hold valuable lessons ifwe're willing to listen,
embracing stillness andrediscovering.
If you, too, are experiencing aseason of quiet or change,

(02:16):
whether it's due to loved onesmoving away, a shift in family
traditions or any other lifetransition, I encourage you to
approach it as a time toreconnect with yourself.
Here are a few ways on findingpeace, and maybe they can be
helpful to you too.
Rediscover old passions or trynew hobbies.
As life changes, we often setaside hobbies or interests,

(02:38):
especially while taking care ofothers.
Now's a great time to pick themback up or try something you've
always wanted to explore, anything that brings you a sense
of joy or purpose.
Connecting through writingjournaling can be incredibly
helpful for processing youremotions and finding clarity.

(02:58):
Writing your thoughts down, even the ones you're unsure of,
allows you to listen to yourselfand better understand where you
are emotionally, finding smallroutines that nourish you.
Daily habits, whether it's amorning cup of coffee, reading a
few pages of a book or windingdown with music, can create a

(03:19):
sense of stability.
Little rituals like these cananchor us, helping us feel
present and grounded, findingMeaning in Change.
When our lives change, it'seasy to feel that we're losing
parts of ourselves, but in truth, these quiet times offer us the
chance to rediscover who we areoutside of our roles we've

(03:41):
always held, we get to reconnectwith parts of ourselves that
may have been put on hold orexplore new aspects that we've
never known before.
This season of quiet may beunfamiliar, but I'm starting to
believe it's one of the mostimportant seasons we'll ever
experience.
So if you, too, are spendingthis holiday in a new way,

(04:02):
remember that every season has apurpose.
Even in stillness, there's somuch room to grow and to find
what truly matters to you.
Thank you for joining me forthis personal reflection today.
If this episode resonated withyou, I'd love for you to leave a
review on Apple Podcasts orwherever you listen in.
And, as you go through your ownquiet moments, I encourage you

(04:25):
to embrace them by journaling orspending quality time with
yourself, because listening toourselves is one of the greatest
gifts we can give.
Join me next time, where myguest will be Kristin Layne, an
incredible practitioner inSomatic healing.
She will be sharing insightsabout how reconnecting with our
bodies can help us healemotionally, especially during

(04:48):
life's more challenging seasons.
Until then, take care ofyourself.
Remember.
Wellness isn't always loud orbusy.
Sometimes it's in the quietmoments that we find the most
peace.
