In the Mushroom Coffee Talk podcast, hosts Tara Thurber and Eddie Jimenez discuss their words for the year. Eddie chooses "bold," emphasizing its importance in entrepreneurship and personal growth, countering the superficiality he sees on social media. Tara, who prefers monthly words, shares her journey of setting goals rather than resolutions, with January focused on self-care and February on strategy. Eddie elaborates on "bold" as an acronym for Breakthroughs, Opportunities, Leadership, Legacy, Discipline, and Drive, aligning with the "me versus me" philosophy. Both hosts look forward to a transformative 2025, aiming to make a bold impact.

Tara Thurber (00:00):

Tara Thurber and Eddie Jimenez.
Welcome to mushroom Coffee Talk, where we strip away the filters
and get real about the iron windphilosophy, hosted by myself,
Tara Thurber and Eddie Jimenez, this series dives into the raw,
unfiltered truths of leadershipentrepreneurship, and the

(00:23):
struggles that founders andexecutive face but rarely talk
about, from self care strategiesto hard hitting realities. We're
here to break down barriers, share powerful stories and have
candid conversations thatmatter. Expect honest insights,
bold discussions, probably somecursing, as well as some guest

(00:45):
appearances from those who'vebeen in the trenches. No fluff,
no sugar coating, just real talkover mushroom coffee. Let's get
into it all right. Eddie, herewe go. I've got my mushroom
coffee ready. How about you?

Eddie Jimenez (01:03):
Come on, you know me, I definitely have my
mushroom coffee ready. Let's getit.

Tara Thurber (01:08):
Let's get it.
Alright, so I'm ready to kickthis conversation off today,
Eddie, around something I'vebeen noodling in my brain for a
bit at the beginning of 2025what is your word for the year?

Eddie Jimenez (01:26):
Oh, so you're going to go ahead and make me
start. All right, I got.

Tara Thurber (01:28):
Yeah, 'm letting you take it. Take off with this
one.

Eddie Jimenez (01:32):
Oh my god, okay, so I have a lot of words. Some
of them I this is probably themost appropriate place to say
it, but I get in troubleanywhere else but the word that
I really, really been working onand I've been thinking as I'm
going through this new journey, this new chapter in my life. You

(01:53):
know, I gave this a lot, a lotof thoughts, and the word that
I've been not only feeling in myheart and feeling deep down is
the word bold and and that word.
If I take a step back, Taro thatthat word means a lot. Because
in order to succeed as anentrepreneur, a startup, a
founder, in order to be a greatfather, a great husband, a great

(02:17):
colleague, friend. Oftentimesyou have to challenge and you
have to be bold. And I think, intoday's society and without
insulting or saying anythingthat got us kicked out of, you
know, off air, often timespeople, they they think that
they know that, or they thinkthat they know what that word

(02:40):
means, or they you know, theypretend to be bold, but they're
not. They're not, they'rehiding. They're afraid, like you
see this on social media.Youlook at social media, and
immediately you think thateverybody is not only filthy
rich, everybody's living theirbest life ever. Everybody is out
there. And for sometimes wecould go ahead and say, hey,

(03:04):
those people are being bold, butwhat you know, oftentimes,
they're creating this fakepersona, and they're creating
this, this, this personalitythat is not really them. And I
don't think you're being bold,you're playing a character,
you're you're an actor, which, there's plenty of actors out
there that are amazing. soonenough, as we continue to grow

(03:25):
and expand, I'll start callingsome of them out, because I
definitely want to haveconversations with them. But the
reality is that we're not beingbold enough. So the more I think
about it, and the more, the moreI take a, you know, a day to day
approach in my life, and, youknow, aligning with the I and
wind philosophy and the meversus me, the word that I come

(03:47):
up with is bold, because I needto be bold, not only in order to
succeed, but to challenge ourleaders, our entrepreneurs, our
founders, The ones that arestruggling out there. Be bold,
take that chance. So that is myword, not only of the month of
the day, but of the year.

Tara Thurber (04:09):
Brilliant. I think that's great. And it came to it
really started coming to my headover the past couple of months.
And believe it or not, I'm not,I'm a big proponent of not
setting new year's resolutions.
I set goals, and I'll sit downover the course of January and
write down goals that I reallywant to hit over the course of

(04:29):
the year. Now mind you, mybirthday is in February, so I
don't even look at January 1 asbeing the start of a new year, I
hold out that January 1, untilmy birthday is like my wiggle
room before an actual new yearreally begins.

Eddie Jimenez (04:48):
Cheating. You're cheating. My birthday sounds on
the fifth of January.

Tara Thurber (04:54):
(laughs loudly)

Eddie Jimenez (04:54):
I can't there's no wiggle room.

Tara Thurber (05:00):
Right, right?

Eddie Jimenez (05:01):
Then I gotta record myself running 6,7,8,
miles, and doing shit that Idon't want to do, but I, you
know, I have to like it, becauseI gotta be bold! Right, right?

Tara Thurber (05:11):
(laughs) So it's funny because I thinking about
(laughs)it and thinking about and I've
been talking to a lot ofleaders, and some leaders are,
are my word is uplift, or myword is connect. And I really
like all these words andthinking about too the word
love, which comes from a podcastthat is coming down the pipeline

(05:35):
where love is wrapped around, listen, observe, validate,
epower. I then started thinking,well, couldn't I have a word of
the month? Maybe I'll have 12words this month. You know,
January was very much ahibernation, self care, reset
month for me. February, I'mlearning, is more of a strategy

(05:58):
month for me. So while I thinkI'm going to stick with having a
word a month overall for for theyear of 2025 it's I feel deep
down, it's a transformativeyear, and I'm ready to make an
impact. I'm ready to make a boldimpact with you.

Eddie Jimenez (06:25):
I love it same here. Now that word, just so you
know, Tara wasn't chosenlightly. Not only do we have to
be bold and you know, we have tobe driven with purpose. That
actually tell that word. It's anit's an acronym, and it's
actually broken down a bitdeeper. And I'm going to give

(06:47):
this will be our sneak peek, andwe'll we're going to talk deeper
on another on another one of ourepisodes. But bold stands for
breakthroughs, opportunities,leadership and legacy,
discipline and drive. This isall me versus me. It's not me

(07:07):
versus you. It's not, you know,I'm running my own race here. I
have to show up and be the bestversion of myself, and that's
what I promise. Not only am Igoing to be the best version
with you terrible, I'm going tobe the best version of my
family. I'm going to be the bestversion with my team, and I'm
going to be the best versionthat I can not only today,

(07:28):
tomorrow, but the rest of theyear in 2025

Tara Thurber (07:32):
Brilliant Eddie.
I'm looking forward to it. Andto our listeners out there, stay
tuned for our next mushroomcoffee talk. Make it a great day.
