Could technology truly reveal what ancient wisdom claims about haunted places, liminal spaces, and protective rituals like iron or salt? Are stories of prison ghosts and supernatural energy merely echoes of trauma, or do they hint at unseen forces waiting to be discovered?

Good evening and welcome to Troubled Minds Radio. I'm your host,
Michael strange. We're streaming on YouTube, rumble x, Twitch, and Kick.

(02:38):
We are broadcasting live on a Troubled Minds radio network
that's KUAP Digital Broadcasting, and of course eighty eight point
four f M Bakland, New Zealand. Tonight, we're gonna do
this a little different now. I've been thinking about the
way these shows go, and it's it's not really fair.
It's not really fair to me, it's not really fair
to you guys, Meaning like, we take, you know, a
number of topics, kind of squish them together, and then

(02:59):
we just drag it out and try and get every
ounce of juice out of it.

Speaker 6 (03:02):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (03:03):
It feels exhausting sometimes and I think we should be
having quite a bit more fun. So I'm starting to
thinking new ideas to do these things. And uh, I
got a new idea for you tonight. So we're gonna
We're gonna try something entirely new. This has never been done,
as far as I know, on radio anywhere, and it's
never been done at least by me. That's a fact.
But you guys, remember those old games, or not games,

(03:24):
those old books called Choose your Own Adventure games or
books or whatever. They were pick your Path or there
was a bunch of different ones. But back in the
eighties they had these this series called Choose your Own
Adventure and you would read sort of the blurb and
it would it would do like the thing, and you would,
you know, uh, to pick and choose. It'd be like, well,
you come across this this particular thing, and you know,

(03:45):
what do you do here? What do you do there?
And I was thinking this morning as I was, you know,
just thinking about formats and and and the way this
this stuff could work, and I'm like, you know what,
screw it. I'm not going to take any time really
to develop some really really in depth thing. Let's just
try and see if it's fun. And we're basically we're
gonna go on a ghost hunt tonight, all of us together, collectively,

(04:08):
all of us. We're a collective ghost hunting team. We're
going to check out an actual abandoned fictional penitent here
PENITENTI here, can I say it? An old prison and
we're going to allow sort of the perplexity AI to
guide us through a narrative I have preset. So what's up?

(04:28):
Test one two? Is anybody there? What's going on? I
hope you are well not getting an audio on Discord.
Anybody else? Anybody else confirm? Test one two. I'm a mom,
a mom one two? Should it should be good? Let
me know, Please let me know on all the things,
because if we're not getting audio, that's a very bad thing.
Test one too, anybody else, We're not hearing anything on Discord,

(04:51):
but YouTube is fine. That's really weird. Okay, how do
I fix that? Darrel says? You hear me on Discord?
YouTube is good? Okay, all right, okay, all right here
you on YouTube? What's up? Patrick? Thank you?

Speaker 6 (05:06):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (05:07):
Okay, Well, this is gonna be a little harder. If
we can't do you can't do Discord, maybe I'll kill it. Okay,
Don and I both think. Okay, here's the deal. Check
this out. If you guys are having Discord issues, please
restart your Discord and come back and then report back
and let me know if it fixes it. Cool. If not,
then yeah, you might be listening on YouTube. What's going on?

(05:30):
I hope everybody's well tonight. Okay, So it's this is
really an experimental idea. So I'm gonna I'm gonna really
do some weird stuff. Okay, And what's ups a spice
up the show and do a strip tease halfway through.
You maybe maybe you'll get a strip tease halfway through.
You never know, but okay, yep, okay, anybody else on
on already distort update discords?

Speaker 2 (05:53):
Uh do you do?

Speaker 3 (05:53):
You hear me? Hirsh anyway? Okay, So, so I'm gonna
set this up because it is working on YouTube and
it is working out to the stream, and yeah, didn't
expect technical difficulties, but okay, here we are with technical difficulties.
Let me double check my stuff here, Oh you can, okay,
So so herschel can hear me? Okay, all right, So yeah,
apparently it needs to be updated, I think. So I

(06:16):
just rebooted the machine. So wait, did I reboot hold On? Yeah? Yeah,
I totally did. Okay, okay, yeah, yeah, so I'm running
the latest version discord. Okay, anyway, so debugging there and yeah, okay,
so nobody hears me on nobody hears me on Discord.
That's super awesome. Okay. Anyway, so I'll set this up
and then we'll take a quick break and maybe I'll

(06:37):
update my discord too, and then we'll restart the thing
on Discord. But anyway, we'll keep the stream going, all right.
So I was thinking like this, like like I said,
let's do something interactive and fun, and we're going to
go on a ghost hunt collectively. And I've got a place,
a place picked out. I've got the sort of dungeon
dungeon master spot already collected, and it's called the Blackwater

(06:59):
State Penitentiary. Okay, and I'll tell you all about it
in just a second one we get back Mascus. So scary, Yes, indeed,
I am the I'm the dungeon master dune. Yeah, the
hostess with the mostest Okay, so host host with the
most Yeah, anyway, Okay, maybe I'm that one person here.
What's up, Celia? How you doing? Hello? What's okay? So
you guys let me know about the thing. We're gonna

(07:20):
take a quick break inward from our sponsor and maybe
I'll re reset my discord just to make sure we're
on the same thing and then start it up again.
It just takes a second. So if you guys are
on discord listening, let me know and I'll yeah, if
you're you guys, restarting is fixing it cool? If it's not,
then I'll just restart Mind, and maybe we'll have to
do without Discord. I don't know that sounds that sounds scary, okay,

(07:41):
but anyway, my mom, my mom Test one two. Okay,
So that's where we're at. So so trust me, this
is gonna be a little different, little bit weird, not
that the standard Troubled Mind show. And also remember this
is this is a fictional account of a fictional place,
and there's no truth to be found here. All of
the actual disclaimers apply.

Speaker 2 (07:59):
This is.

Speaker 3 (07:59):
This is about possibilities and ideas and the philosophical construct
of a conversation. That's it. Okay. So if you're here
for truth, then I was on Discord but couldn't hear anything. Okay, Hey, yep,
there you go. Apparently Okay, it didn't work, all right,
Discord's broken. Okay, So here's what I'm gonna do. I
will We're gonna take a quick break in word from
our sponsor. I'll play a quick thing. I'll restart my Discord.

(08:22):
So it's going to kill the stage guys, and I'll
come right back and restart it. So the Jontan didn't
jump in there, and sorry about that. Yes, if it's
working for somebody, oh, Dan says, are restorted and Discord works. Now, okay,
there you go, all right, yeah, restart, okay, so restart it.
So maybe Discord just updated before we started the show,
that that would be standard and it would be kind

(08:42):
of how this has gone over the years. Anyway, Okay,
so there you go. Let me know. Hopefully the mileage
doesn't vary and it's a weird I restarted twice, but
I'll try again. Reboot your computers too, if that or
your machines anyway, Okay, if you're right back, More trouble
Minds on the way in exactly one minute. Afterward from
Human Inspiration, do not go anywhere. And if this doesn't work, well,

(09:05):
restart at the bottom of the hour the discord. So,
because we've got other people doing stuff, let's not do
all the things at the same time. Anyway, very back,
More Trouble Minds in exactly one minute. See on the
other side of the break. In a world increasingly shaped
by AI, human inspiration remains the beating heart of creativity.
Alien Skin by Tremble, a hauntingly beautiful piano ballad, reminds

(09:30):
us that while algorithms can mimic art, the raw, unfiltered
emotions of human experience are irreplaceable. Written and composed by

(09:51):
Jesse Ian in collaboration with Tom Smith, this progressive masterpiece
delves into the depths of internalized grief and the silent
tool of artist to compromise. As Ai reshapes our reality.
Alien Skin stands as a testament to the timeless power
of human emotion and the complex beauty the only true artists.
Kenny book Experience the Haunting Beauty of Alien Skin by

(10:15):
Tremble and Support Human Inspiration, available now on iTunes. Welcome
back to Troubled Minds. I'm Michael Strange. Let us continue,
shall we? Okay, So, as many of you may have noticed,
the rite up tonight is intentionally vanilla because we're going
to choose the adventure tonight instead. So the write up
is about I'm calling this to Living Occult Symposium. Choose

(10:36):
your path very much like they choose your own adventure
stories of old and I will start getting to those choices,
but I want to make sure everybody's good. And what
we'll do is just kind of vote and chat ABC
type of thing. You get these possibilities, which do you choose?
I'll kind of eyeball it, and whatever the consensus is,
we'll go with it, and then we'll generate the thing
and do the thing. Let's see what are we looking at?

(10:58):
How's this? How's the thing? Anybody home? Any anything working? Okay,
let me know if restarting the stuff has worked for people. Remember,
just closing the app means you got to actually close
the app entirely and then restart it, not just sort
of minimizing it and bringing it back anyway. Okay, So
we're going to start at this place, the Blackwater State Penitentiary. Okay,

(11:21):
that's where we begin. And the whole point of this
is to give sort of a fictional background of a
fictional place, all right, give you a spooky story to start,
and then we are going collectively together as a ghost
hunting group that will choose collectively what comes next. All right,
that's where we're at. Any updates on the discord, let

(11:45):
me know. I'm going to read this little bit which
is the background of the Blackwater State Penitentiary. Okay, so
please let me know if this is good. James is
now a speaker. James is not a speaker I'm seeing.
Can you guys hear me? On the discord. Let me know, Okay,
I want to read this. If I have to read
it and start over, or if we have to start again,
that's fine.

Speaker 6 (12:04):
Whatever.

Speaker 3 (12:04):
Well, well I got to reboot the entire thing and
start the whole thing over. Will do it again anyway,
Here we go. So Blackwater State Penitentiary looms just beyond
the river's edge, its crumbling walls and barbed fences, whispering
secrets to the midnight wind. Abandoned since nineteen eighty seven,
the prison once held over eight hundred men, some of

(12:27):
the most notorious criminals in state history, and its heyday,
Blackwater's somber reputation drew whispered warnings across the region. Families
locked doors tight, locals cross the street rather than pass
its shadow. Among its famous inmates, Marcus Holt, nicknamed the

(12:49):
prophet who claimed to speak in tongues and predicted a
plague would sweep the prison. Holt spent eighty seven days
in solitary before dying under mysterious circumstance. Anss another Slim Verrelli,
a mob enforcer and reputed mastermind of the nineteen seventy
nine cell block riot, whose body was never found after

(13:11):
the chaos. A third notable inmate, Calvin Bleeder Maze, convicted
of ten grizzly murders. His artwork painted in cell blood,
remains hidden somewhere in the archives. As the years passed,
unclaimed inmates forty seven in total, were buried hastily in
the exercise yard, their markers stripped by storms and time.

(13:35):
The warden's final log entry offers no comfort. Quote they
won't stay in their cells anymore end quote. Recent urban
explores report disturbing phenomena. Shadow figures stalking corridors at night,
vanishing when approached, Phantom chains rattling through the main corridor.

(13:58):
Iron links resonate long after being touched. Cell blocked these
cold spot chills to the bone. Three guards died there
during the infamous nineteen seventy nine riot. As previously mentioned,
their deaths remain officially unexplained. At Blackwater, the boundary between

(14:18):
the living and the dead tends dangerously for those who
dare to enter. Each step could be a crossing into
forgotten memories, unrested souls, and the prisons spectral legacy. And
that's where we start. This is again, it is a
fictional place. Blackwater State, penitentiary, and it is very simply
the backdrop of our adventure. Tonight. We're going to go

(14:40):
on a ghost hunt a test one two. Do you
guys actually hear me on discord? Oh my goodness, gracious,
why do things always break? This is why we can't
have nice things, because every time there's a damn upbate,
everything breaks Test one two. Okay, So basically it's this
because I was thinking about it this morning and I
was like, you know what, it would be super cool
to just kind of go on a ghost hunt, except

(15:00):
you know, to maybe off the beaten path, you know,
not someplace that everybody goes to, like the Mob Museum
or you know, things like that, like actually just go
somewhere that's kind of kind of remote, kind of interesting
kind of And then I thought about it and the show,
and you know, kind of imagine how cool would be
if we could all collectively go on a ghost hunt together, right,
that type of thing. And I was like, well, why not,

(15:21):
let's let's larp this m effort and let's actually kind
of try it and see how this works out. So
as we start tonight and again get the audio hiccups
fixed on Discord, Testing one two, can anybody hear me?
Sorry about all that. I hope it does work. We're
having problems technical issues. But anyway, I was thinking, like,

(15:42):
what if this ghost hunting stuff there's maybe something to it?
And per usual?

Speaker 6 (15:48):
Right?

Speaker 3 (15:48):
You know me? I can see both sides of the
both angles of this conversation, and one is like, come on,
we're just out there scaring ourselves. You know, we get
these fancy tools, the EMF meters, and we you know,
just end up scaring scaring yourself in the dark, right,
scary stories to tell in the dark, except in twenty
twenty five, and you know, you're out there in a
graveyard or something with the you know, new technology, and

(16:09):
you know, just I don't know, dare I suggest acting silly? However?
But what if there's something else to it? And so
the question as we begin really kind of turns into
what do you believe about the ghost hunting aspect of things?
The ghost hunting bits not just a TV shows we
talked about that on the last the last episode here,
but the actual people going out and doing this stuff

(16:30):
and trying to find these things, whatever these things are.
What do you guys think? Lots of lots of angles here,
lots of ways to tackle this, and yeah, I'm sorry
for the technical issues here. That kind of sucks. It
sucks that it's coming through the stream, but that's it.
That's basically it. No, it's coming through on radio, but

(16:50):
it's not coming through on the discord at all, which
is where most of the interaction and calls come from.
So still nothing, Still nothing on the discord. There's a
lot of people in there. But all right, trying fifteen okay,
sounds great on my discord. I'm the only one who matters. Okay,
all right, what did you do? Check in for updates? Okay,
let me try mister Michigan control on the phone line

(17:11):
while we're doing tech support here, and let's see if
this is actually coming through, then we'll what's that?

Speaker 10 (17:17):
Bro?

Speaker 7 (17:18):
Hey?

Speaker 1 (17:18):
Get you hey, reboot and redo the stream because I
can hear you on discord. Everybody else can. We got
five y five on YouTube and discord chat, and it's
I think it's an audio problem coming through from your end,
or there's you know, there's a lot of weird stuff
going on right now. So we let be technical difficulties

(17:40):
and we do need this stream, Mike, we can here,
We all need this stream, so reboot.

Speaker 3 (17:45):
Okay, all right, okay, copy copy copy of that buck,
copy Roger. I'll be right back. Okay. So here's here's
the plan. So everything's set up, so I'm going to
just uh, I'm going to leave. I'm going to restart
my computer, let it chill for like five minutes, and
then I'm going to come back and hopefully everything is
reset properly, and then you guys do the same thing too, everybody,

(18:08):
So we have some time to kind of let the
software gremlins figure themselves out, and then we'll come back
and we'll start over, okay, and we'll just get right
into it, write it, because you guys already know what's coming.
We'll get right into it and tell the story, talk
to James for a little bit, and then we will
start choosing your own adventure. So for now, the first
choose your own adventure, unfortunately, is for us to stop

(18:29):
and then start again. So we will do that. More
trouble minds coming up and say fifteen minutes, fifteen twenty minutes.
I'm going to just shut everything down, pull everything back up,
and restart all the things. So I'll see you in
about fifteen twentyh somewhere in that range, and thanks for
the votes so far, and sorry for the technical issues.
This is a little bit of a bummer. I was
looking forward to this, but let's do it anyway. Let's

(18:50):
find a way to persevere. Okay, be right back, more
Trouble Minds in ten, fifteen, twenty something like that. Figure
fifteen is a sweet spot. We'll see you then. It's
now seven twenty eight, so figure right around seven forty
five pm Pacific time, we'll be starting once again. Sorry
about all that. It could have been me. Maybe the
discord didn't update because I did a fast reboot or something.

(19:11):
I don't know. Anyway, be right back. Fifteen minutes Troubled
Minds will begin again. Let's begin again as this song goes.
All right, that's that fifteen minutes. See you after the reset.
Hopefully it fixes all this stuff. I'm gonna kill the
soundboard too and bring all that back up. And yeah,

(19:31):
we'll do an abbreviated version when we get back and
see you in fifteen. Welcome back to Trouble mind as

(20:06):
I'm your host, Michael Strange, all the places, all the things.
Sorry about the technical issues there. We had to stop
and restart. So we're going to just fix it and
post and this is the bottom of the hour bit here.
We're going to just keep it kind of on the
radio clock after this. Okay, tonight, I'm calling this to
living a cult symposium Choose your Path. We're kind of
modeling this after those old Choose your Own Adventure books

(20:26):
from the nineteen eighties. Now the wild part is with
technology changing and always becoming well easier, easier to do things,
you can just do things. I thought this morning, let's
do a choose your Own adventure together. And so we're
going on a ghost hunt tonight, and we're going to
do this collectively. And I've got a fictional place I'll
sort of play dungeon master radio host, you know, kind

(20:48):
of a roll the dice, and you guys decide where
this leads because I've got different choices, narratives and all
kinds of things that we'll talk about as we go.
And if this format, if I like this format, if
you guys like this format, maybe this is the future
of radio. Maybe this is the future of talk shows.
Maybe I think it's time to get more creative since
we can. But anyway, sorry about all that, Like I said,

(21:10):
test one two, Discord says they're good? Are we good
in all the other places? Rumble? They're finding us again
in rumble okay, so that should be fine. Okay. And YouTube?
Who said my mom, my mom? Who was it? Who
was it? That was Fred? Right, Fritz?

Speaker 6 (21:24):
It was good.

Speaker 3 (21:24):
Okay, we're good on YouTube. Yeah, we're gonna okay, something's good,
everything's good. What's up, Lily, Okay, let's do it. Let's go. James,
Welcome to the Joint. Thanks for jumping through some hoops
here and helping me figure this out. I have no
idea what it was. It could have been my soundboard,
but I rebooted it. So anyway, how you feeling. Welcome
to the Joint, Thanks for sitting in tonights, and what's
on your mind as we start, just as we begin

(21:47):
the idea of the adventure?

Speaker 6 (21:50):
Yeah, I mean the prison, the haunted prison. Paranormal activity
and prisons in jails is definitely common. If you look
up any major facility, you may find at least some
accounts of experiences there. And so yeah, I'm happy to
be here and hop out with this and maybe give

(22:11):
some feedback here and there about the choices I'm probably
not going to vote in the choices, given that's kind
of disappearing almost up is what I do. So, but
I'm interested to see what everyone decides to you along
the way.

Speaker 2 (22:26):
Stop it.

Speaker 3 (22:26):
You're still a person, James, you count as a person.
Don't don't do that stuff. Don't make me twist your
um to make you vote. Okay, just kidding, but I might. Okay,
So here's what we're gonna do. We're gonna read it
straight from the thing. Now, this was the whole bit
right of the This is the backdrop. Okay, so we're
gonna do it. Choose your own adventure. We're on a
ghost hunt together again, so we're gonna do a little
live action role play here. But also I'm the dungeon master,

(22:49):
and this is the backdrop. I'll read it one more time.
This is the Blackwater State Penitentiary. It looms just beyond
the river's edge. It's crumbling walls and barber fences with
bring secrets to the midnight wind. Abandoned since nineteen eighty seven,
the prison once held over eight hundred men, some of
the most notorious criminals in state history, and its heyday,

end quote. Recent urban explorers report disturbing phenomena. Shadow figures

(24:19):
stalking corridors at night, vanishing when approached, Phantom chains rattling
through the main corridor. Iron links tend to resonate long
after being touched, and Cell Block d's cold spot chills
to the bone. Three guards died here during the infamous
nineteen seventy nine riot. Their deaths remain officially unexplained. At Blackwater,

(24:42):
the boundary between the living and the dead thins dangerously
for those who dare to enter. Each step should be
a crossing, could be a crossing into forgotten memories, unrested
souls in the prison's spectral legacy. And there's our backdrop.
So now imagine we are a ghost hunting team A
and we're arriving on this scene at midnight to actually

(25:05):
do an investigation. Now, of course many questions arise as
part of this. We'll get into some granular aspects of
ghost hunting and talk about it and as usual, what
you believe about the EVPs and you know, the EMF
meters and all the things they use. Does it seem
like theater or does it seem maybe like there's something
here as usual, you know, not talking about the TV
shows and the rest of that. Clearly television isn't isn't

(25:27):
probably the way to iron this out. But what about
actually going and doing these things yourself? And that's what's
on my mind tonight, So we'll get to the actual
us arriving in the bit and starting just before we
take the break, and we'll give you the choices right
when we come back and start with the narratives here.
But James, anything to add regarding any of this. There's
a ton of stuff here with actual again, like you said, prisons,

(25:51):
the hauntings, the trauma that goes on there, I mean,
horrific stuff, and beyond that sort of these other other elements,
Like we'll get to some salt tonight as our boundaries,
we'll get to some of the iron that supposedly wards
off spirits. Of course, this this prison sitting next to
a river, shout out rivers, there's a lot here that
that makes for a perfect paranormal backdrop, and that's where

(26:13):
we begin tonight. Anything to add to any of that
and we'll I'll fill in some more details and give
us time to get this back on track.

Speaker 6 (26:22):
Well, what's funny is I've heard that some paranormal investigation
groups they will if they can, they will go to
these places, not so much at night when they first
go there. They'll go during the day to get just
get a feel of the of the area and no,

(26:43):
like investigate during the day just to figure out where
everything is at and maybe get some readings on energy
fields and all that in the daytime so that if
those readings change at night or whenever they investigate again,
they can try to figure out why. So but then again,

(27:04):
not every group gets to do that. Some locations, for
whatever reasons, are not able to let people in, either
because they're still being used during the day or just
logistics of the owners can't make it during the day.
There's all kinds of things that can happen there. But yeah,
the paranormal investigation, to me is fascinating and I always
wonder what are they picking up on and is it

(27:28):
just spirits or is there more to it?

Speaker 3 (27:31):
Yeah, and we talk about energy and all that stuff,
and I wonder it does make me as usual come
back thinking about these ideas, not just this time of year,
of course, but all times of the year. This is,
you know, not specifically just an October thing. This is
something that people experience year round, and so when you
kind of frame it in that aspect, and you know,

(27:51):
all the stigma that's attached to these these topics and
people that are just have seen things and are afraid
to sort of speak out and suggest that they've seeing
something because they'll be made fun of and you know
all the rest of it. It's like we're children again
in the schoolyard making fun of each other, which is
just ridiculous. But I mean, welcome to it. Okay. So
let's see. Let me get this setting the thing up here. Okay.

(28:12):
So one second the intro is locked, okay, So then
here we go. So this is this is where this,
this whole thing begins. Is that that spot we're talking
Blackwater Penitentiary? Okay? And it is again, this is fictional.
This is entirely fake. So again, no truth to be
found here, just ideas, just storytelling, live action storytelling together

(28:33):
as part of this. And is everybody good on YouTube?
Is YouTube back? Let me check the show chat? Okay?
All right, good, good, good, Okay, I see you guys, okay, okay, cool,
all right, So that's what we're gonna see. All right,
So let me get this as it's a formulating but
that's the point. So what do you know about thresholds?
What do you know about haunted prisons? And what do
you know about ghost hunting? Is really the core question tonight?

(28:55):
Because you know, it just depends on who you ask.
Per usual, some people spend you know, sort of their
hobby time not doing you know, talk shows like me
or whatever or whatever you guys do in your spare time.
As well, some people actually go in ghost time, like
actually go to graveyards and stuff and you know, try
and record stuff and get EVPs and and you know,
actually find some of these things. So so I don't

(29:17):
really know the answers, of course, you know me, but
I do wonder if some of this stuff is, as
usual a little bit more provocative, not just in let's
say what it is, but also what it could be
as part of these the larger investigations. So, uh, one second,
this thing's pulling it. So if up here, come on,
let's go, let's go. Perplexity is amazing, by the way,

(29:38):
if you guys haven't, like, I know, I gush about
it a lot, but it is. It is very good.
It is very good. I asked it, like how would
I do something like this? And it's like, well you would,
you know kind of blah blah blah, And I'm like, well,
how about you just do it? He's like all right,
did it? Here we go okay. So we arrive at
this prison, okay, and this is this is where we go.
The team stands before the main entrance. That's us. We're

(29:59):
there yourself in their roleplay aspect. The iron gate is
rusted open, frozen in place. The threshold is marked with
strange scratches, claw marks. Maybe someone notices salt scattered across
the doorway recently placed. Now this exactly is where we
can stop and talk about that salt. So in folklore worldwide,

(30:20):
thresholds are neither inside or outside. We talk about these
liminal spaces, the between places all the time, but this
makes them dangerous. Spirits exist in the in between. Ancient
cultures buried iron nails and coins under doorsteps to prevent
the dead from crossing back. Prisons are already liminal spaces.
The space has a suspension between freedom and captivity, life
and death. And notice the salt still use today because

(30:43):
of its purity, it's believed to create barriers. Spirits can't
penetrate anything on the salt there, James, And then I'll
ask the question and we'll give you the choice point
of what comes next.

Speaker 6 (30:55):
Yeah, it's definitely a thing that is used. I've even
heard my king go to a ton of detail, but
cases of people who have had haunted houses, their own
home haunted and activity surrounding unfortunately their their kids and
where stuff is going on. And it's been suggested I've

(31:16):
heard that you keep salt around your home and even
in some cases on your person. Uh, just keep it
around you so that it makes a barrier, that is,
it moves with you. So but yeah, it's a it's
a it's a thing. And you know, I think whether
it's all also about intentions. So the object is private,

(31:39):
but then also the intention is there as well, and
that's important as well.

Speaker 3 (31:42):
Yeah, well said, well said all that, And so what
do you guys know about not just the idea of
salt and thresholds, but do thresholds whole power because we
believe they do, or because they mark genuine spiritual boundaries.
And this is something we've talked about over and over
again on this show, which brings us to the question
to the choice. I'll pace this in the chat if

(32:03):
you guys want to go over it a little bit,
but take some votes A, B or C during the
break here and we'll come back and we'll begin with
whatever the consensus chooses. Hey, step carefully over the threshold
without touching it. B. Scatter your own salt and say
a protective prayer before entering by creating your own barrier

(32:25):
or C. Walk straight through confidently with the idea that
fear gives spirits power, the rationalist approach, and there we go.
I'll pace that in the chat. You guys decide what
comes next, and we will generate this in real time
as we roll through. Like I said, this is highly experimental,
never been done before on a live radio show, I'm
pretty sure. But if it we're going to do it anyway.

(32:47):
I'd love to hear your thoughts on this as we go.
We'll take your calls and kind of frame this into
the space of choose your own adventure. That's what's going on.
If we're right back, More trouble minds coming up in
just a minute more with James. More choices, and I'll
pace these choices again back in the chat, so you
guys have a chance to look them over and think
them over, vote.

Speaker 6 (33:04):
A, B or C.

Speaker 3 (33:05):
I'll do a quick tally and we'll come back and
begin the adventure itself. More trouble minds on the way,
Do not go anywhere. Welcome back to Troubled Minds. I'm

(33:37):
your host, Michael Strange. We're streaming on YouTube, borumbo x,
Twitch and Kick. We are broadcasting live on a Trouble
Minds radio network that's KUAP Digital Broadcasting and of course
eighty eight point four FM Auckland, New Zealand. Tonight, we're
taking your calls and your ideas as we're trying something
brand now. We're doing a Choose your Own adventure radio
show where the narrative begins with all of us on
a ghost hunt in a fictional penitate chairing. Yeah, so

(34:01):
we started, and the ABC choice as we began was
a step carefully over the threshold without touching it, be
scatter your own salt and say a protective prayer before entering,
and see walk straight through confidently. And it looks like
the B is one, meaning scatter your own salt and
say a protective prayer before entering. Now, the wild part
about this is I don't know what comes next either,

(34:23):
because I'm going to generate this in just a second here,
it'll spit the thing out and we will kind of
larp along with the AI in this case is perplexity,
which I said is very good. It's been pre briefed
on all the stuff and even got shortcuts created and stuff.
I was busy today getting all this set up in
the morning, but unfortunately I got home late and then
everything broke and anyway, so this is not going to

(34:44):
be perfect, so bear with me. Anyway, I'll program this
up and we'll move into the next step of the business.
But James, welcome back. I hope you're still feeling okay
and your thoughts on be winning there. Scatter your own
salt and say a protective prayer before entering the Haunted prison.

Speaker 6 (35:02):
It's it's fascinating because all three are valid options. And
I mean I could I can't. I couldn't in fault
anyone for going with any of those. I think it
all does go back to what knowledge you have of
these topics, whatever you're able to get throughout your life,
and what you're ere and then what you you feel

(35:24):
is accurate, what you believe is accurate. How you feel
when you get there as well is going to be
a factor as far as if you do feel any
energy or not. There's plenty of people that will go
with either B or C, and and they're sure about that.
They would be sure about those options. And but the

(35:46):
thing with the paranormal is you never know if anything
you do is going to work or not. And it's
sort of similar in life, I guess anyway, but it's
the same applies to the paranormal.

Speaker 3 (35:57):
Yeah, as you usual right that these things are complicated,
and yeah, okay, strapping is generating and so we'll get
back to part two of this, and so again just
to reframe everything, we are having a ghost hunt together.
We are doing a collective the LARP, right, and what
it means is absolutely nothing other than we're having some

(36:20):
fun to kind of trying to press the envelope here
on some creative radio and some creative ideas. But it
is as Jim said, it is all that stuff is valid,
I mean walking through and sort of not showing fear.
All the rest of that stuff. It fits bringing your
own salt, of course, because we are you know again,
paranormal investigators collectively, so that makes some sense. So don't forget.

(36:40):
We get all the stuff we need. We got the
cameras and all the things, so we can set this
stuff up as we go in different spots if we
spot something, so you know, et cetera, so on. But
that's coming next. It's generating right now. We'll get to
where this leads in a second here and give you
the next choice and read you the next blurb. But
I don't know, I think that regarding this, like I
said that there was technical ploy changing so quickly that

(37:01):
this is this is going to be the future. I mean,
they have this stuff happening on Twitch and stuff. Weren't
you saying, James, that you could like spawn monsters and
your your friends games or something on Twitch, like the
interaction back and forth between the groups together and just
being able to kind of even control each other a
little bit with votes and things. And I don't know,
it seems fantastic that we're we live in twenty twenty

(37:23):
five and we can be as creative as we want
to be.

Speaker 6 (37:26):
Yes, for anyone who wants to look into that, look
up seven Days to Die on Twitch as far as
a game that people play on there, and yeah, there's
an integration where people in check can pick monsters. They
accumulate channel points for being there, and then you can
use those channel points to spawn different kinds of monsters

(37:49):
that will then go after the streamer in game as
they're trying to survive. And if you, if you, if
you're answers managed to kill the game character, then you
get more points.

Speaker 3 (38:05):
It is a lot of fun trust stuff me anyway, yeah, absolutely,
trill stuff and full effect. Okay, so here it is.
This is what generated. It just takes a couple of
minutes to generate it. So again thanks to James for
sitting in allowing time for all this to kind of
do it's thing.

Speaker 6 (38:18):
But here we go.

Speaker 3 (38:19):
So the narrative continuation. The salt barrier ritual. The team
leader steps forward. Of course, that's you conceptually, each and
every one of you out there. The team leader steps forward,
pulling a small canvas pouch from their equipment bag inside
course sea salt collected specifically for this investigation. The team
forms a semicircle just outside the threshold, giving space for
the ritual. Before we crossed, the leader says, voice steady,

(38:41):
despite the cold radiating from the doorway, we protect ourselves properly.
The salt streams from their hand in a deliberate line
across the threshold, while crystals, white crystals, catching in the moonlight.
They continue along both sides of the entrance, creating an
unbroken barrier. The team watches as the salt forms a
protective boundary ancient and simple, and the protection prayer. As

(39:04):
the last grains fall, the leader raises both hands and speaks,
By this salt, I seal our circle in protection. No
harm shall cross this threshold with us. No malice shall
attach to our bodies, our spirits, or our souls. We
walk into the light of divine protection. Angels and ancestors.

(39:26):
We ask your presence, Guardess of this place between worlds.
We enter with respect, We investigate with courage. Then we
will leave this place whole and unharmed by the power
of earth, water, fire, and air. By all it is
good and sacred. This barrier is sealed, so we declare it.
So it is done. That's kind of chilling, like accurate.

(39:50):
Got the spine tingles on that one. The moment the
words finish, something shifts. The oppressive cold retreats slightly, as
if pushed back by an invisible force. One team member
squares they see the salt line glow faintly. Just for
a second. Did you feel that? Whispers the tech specialists
checking the EMF reader baseline just dropped two points. The

(40:11):
leader nods the protection holds now we can enter safely,
and so of course it has this nice like a
dungeon master's bit, so it says spiritual defense level strong.
It kind of goes through like the threshold boundary and
the protection of the team, and like it's kind of
keeping track of the decisions you make, so as it
goes forward, you know, it kind of can tailor the

(40:34):
story along with anything on any of that. James, I
thought that was actually pretty good, the perplexity on the
fly creating a threshold prayer.

Speaker 6 (40:44):
Yeah, and there are groups that do that. And just
a side note too on the investigations and all that
you do have to be careful when you're doing these things. Sometimes,
not that I think there's a lot of the investigations
they have and where nothing really happens with the people
during or after, but there are rare cases where when

(41:07):
people go and investigate a place, there is energy and
or consciousness that follows them out of the place. So
it's something to keep in mind and when you're when
you're looking into doing these things, is that it can happen.
And at least according to the reports. Again, I don't
know anything. I'm just started going off of reports I've

(41:30):
read and heard over the years about people they have
and who have had to stop doing these investigations because
of things that happened after when they were not even
on the site anymore.

Speaker 3 (41:42):
Yeah, that's the hitchhiker bit too, right, Like that certainly
fits into this. Yeah, like it like things follow you,
things attach and all the rest. It's again, you know,
like I say, when I say trope, I don't mean
it in a negative way. It's it's just like a
recurring theme, and these recurring themes in the paranormal space
are once again ancient. And we've talked about a lot
of these things over the years on this show as well,

(42:02):
recognizing that it's not just as simple as you know,
it's on TV, so it's fake. I mean, yeah, it's
on TV, so it's fake. And right, what about all
the rest, because there's a whole bunch here fire stuff, James,
I got the rest of the narrative and the next
choice coming up if you unless you got anything, Dad,
and we're taking your calls tonight. By the way, seven
h two ninety five seven one or three seven, put
your hand up on the discord if you can't keep

(42:23):
it a little more brief than usual, just so we
can get through this and at least have a good time.
If if this is fun and you guys like it,
we can do a part two or I even thought
of the initial choice being like a haunt haunting thing
like this, or like a futuristic thing, or like a
time travel thing or whatever. So we can create anything
we want basically, But yeah, anything else, James, if you
got it, and we'll get to the narrative here.

Speaker 6 (42:47):
I think I had something that I think I lost it,
So nothing for now.

Speaker 3 (42:51):
Indeed, all right, let's do it straight back to the
thing now Again, this is built on the fly by perplexity.
So with protection established, the team steps over the salt
line and through the rusted iron gate. Each person moves carefully, deliberately,
maintaining awareness of the threshold significance. The moment the last
team member crosses the prison seems to exhale. That's the

(43:15):
only way to describe it, a long, slow release of
breath that shouldn't exist in an abandoned building. Inside. Their
flashlight beams cut through absolute darkness. The main corridor stretches
ahead longer than it looked from outside. Rusted chains hang
from the ceiling at irregular intervals, remnants of the old
lockdown system that could seal every section simultaneously in case

(43:37):
of riot. The air temperature inside reads forty seven degrees
fahrenheit outside it was sixty two. That's a fifteen degree
differential with no explanation, no wind, no open windows that
are all sealed with iron bars of course, no ventilation
system that's worked in thirty eight years. Baseline EMF at
zero point three, reports to tech specialist. Quietly normal range,

(44:01):
air pressure normal, no eyon fluctuations yet, but they can
all feel it, the weight of the place, decades of suffering,
soaked into concrete and iron. The silence is wrong somehow
to complete, as if the building is holding its breath.

(44:22):
Then they hear it distant echoing down the corridor from
somewhere deep inside, the unmistakable sound of chains dragging across
concrete floor. Rattle drag, rattle drag, getting closer, choices coming
up in a sec anything on that, chains, rattling chains or.

Speaker 6 (44:45):
Yeah, it's funny because I've heard of that in rare
cases in prisons. I've also heard of that in only
in one case, in someone's home, where they hear it's
that sound of chains going or moving. But if you
think about prisons, they are made of so much metal,

(45:06):
and metal is in a way it's crystals. It's says
they can can have energy going through it and around it.
A lot of prisons have electrical systems now that that
manage all the doors and locks. So that's a lot
of energy moving to a place.

Speaker 3 (45:22):
Yeah, one hundred percent. And it is you know, back
to the Christmas Carol and all the rest of that,
the chains and the ghosts and all. I mean, this
is uh, this is deep stuff. We'll get we'll get
to iron as well at a little bit later on tonight. Okay,
so here are the things, right, the choices. So we
hear the the unmistakable sound of chains rattling across the
concrete floor as we move into the space in a

(45:44):
paranormal investigation in this old haunted prison. Again, this is
all fiction. We're just LARPing here, we're just having a
good time. And uh, the choices are as follows. Hey
follow the chain sounds deeper into the corridor as an
active investigation might be set up equipment here and wait
for phenomena to come to you see split up half

(46:09):
follow sound half secure's entrance A tactical split. That's a
little strange, but okay, so i'll uh, I think I
can actually do this. Screenshot this and put this on
the screen through the discord. Yeah, there we go. Okay,
this will probably work. Like I said, this is a
work in progress beta test, alpha test for a new

(46:30):
medium of radio.

Speaker 5 (46:32):
So hang tight.

Speaker 3 (46:33):
As I get this, I'm gonna drop this in the
chat real quick. There it is, bingo. I'll pull this
up and show it on the screen, and here are
the choices. Okay, there it is, and I'll drop it
in the chat as well, and you guys can see
what I'm talking about. But the choices are as follows.
There we go and go, so, hey, follow the chain

(46:53):
sounds deeper into the corridor. B set up equipment here
and wait for phenomena to come to you or see
split up. Send James to go investigate, and we all
wait back here. And just kidding, half secures the entrance
and half follows the sound. So a B or C
vote as you see, fat, There are the the the screen,
as as the options, and we will generate the next

(47:15):
part of this. And yeah, gotcha. Hopping along from the
bottom of the are yep, gotcha, Derek. Okay, so we
got B A couple of a's vote vote vote again,
So follow the change. Sounds deeper, set up equipment here
and wait for the phenomena or split up. Half follows
the sound, half secures the entrance. Let's stick together, guys,
let's let's let's kick c out. To not make this
narrative complicated, Fat fat fat? What's up? What's up? Looking

(47:36):
for votes? D just runaway screaming, So that is why?

Speaker 2 (47:39):
Why?

Speaker 3 (47:40):
Yeah, no way, what's okay? So yeah, send James in alone. Okay,
all right, so follow the we got D. Darryl says,
D Okay.

Speaker 6 (47:53):
The thing is I would go alone because I'm that person.

Speaker 3 (47:56):
Yeah. Well I wouldn't let you go alone because I'm
that person. So don't you worry, James. We're gonna we're
gonna be justified. Okay. So we got looks like a's
are out pacing the bees. Let's see he send rasing
Gordo ahead of me. Okay, all right, all right, okay,
so looks like we got to Okay, we got a D.
We got the A. Yeah, the A's are winning here. Okay,

(48:17):
so follow the chain sounds deeper into the corridor the
active investigation. Okay, so there you go. I'm gonna grab
this and drop it in the thing and generate the
next thing. I don't know what do you guys think?
So far, so good. Like I said, this is a
beta test, and we don't really know what the hell's
happening here other than we're trying to have a good
time and do something interesting and novel and creative. And

(48:38):
I forgot one of the things about doing this was
that creativity knows no bounds. Sometimes it feels like you
clock in and do a job, you know, and that's
just not the best. It's like, let's do something fun.
So here we are anyway. I hope you're having fun.
I'm having a good time. Okay, So I'm gonna generate this.
We're going with a The answer is follow the chain
sounds deeper into the corridor, continue with the active investigation.

(48:59):
So I will grab that, generate this, and we will Okay,
there we go go with this. Okay, it's it's all uh, okay,
check out how crazy this is. So it gave me
a technical production note. So the timing update opening and
threshold scene should be five minutes or complete Protection ritual
three minutes out of depth. The Esoteric Discussion three minutes

(49:20):
completed in main file, which James and I are doing
kind of filling in the blanks here on some some
cool stuff, some Laura and whatnot. Entrying quarters set up
for it. It's crezy. It's like keeping track of the
beats and everything else. It's it's so nuts. Okay, slapping
in a and we're gonna keep on trucking here with
what's what's happening? Okay, wait, wait, wait, hold on, did

(49:42):
it give me options? Pre pre do the options? Okay,
I'm gonna just tell it all right, all right, all right,
we're going with this. Okay, there we go and bingo.
So maybe we can do I don't know, like maybe
some interludes or something, or take quick calls or something
in between. We'll figure this out. Like I said, this
is a work in progress yet, because first time, first

(50:02):
time you, first time me, anything, James looks like a
A wins the game. We're going follow the change change
sounds deeper into the corridor. So again we are LARPing
that were investigating the paranormal, you know, haunted old prison,
and here we go here we go send James first.

Speaker 6 (50:19):
Huh that and I mean both aarb those are valid choices.
Again a lot of groups, you know, that's funny enough
what you see on some of those TV shows where
the group goes in and they set up everything, they
go throughout the place and set up equipment and all that,
and then later on do the investigation. That is a

(50:42):
real thing. Uh So, I mean either way, but then
I think, you know, if it's a smaller group, if
it's only two or three people, then you wouldn't that
wouldn't be so easy to set up all kinds of
equipment everywhere, so you would possibly just go just follow
the activity. They have as much equipment as you can
on you at the time, along with the type of

(51:04):
batteries because sometimes equipment will just die on you when
you're no pun intended. But also funny when you're in
the middle of the investigation because the batteries get drained somehow.

Speaker 3 (51:16):
Yeah, that's again one of those tropes is that you
can never have enough batteries when it comes to this
stuff because because they're always dying. And again you see
this on all these shows. Like I said, if anybody's
done actually done, Ghost hunts and stuff and know this,
and it's seen this with their own eyes, like I'd
love to hear it. Like if you want to pop
in and tell us what you think about that, that's
super cool. But yeah, it's still generating and it will

(51:37):
pop up here in a second here and yeah, yeah,
I don't know. Yeah, this is kind of cool. I'll
streamline the process if you guys have any suggestions or whatever,
maybe put the narrative out early or something so we
can kind of all be on the same page and
we just jump right into it. Something like that. Anyway, Anyway,
I think it's I think it's a fun thing. Like
I said, it is a little different, and different is good.
And like I said, I'm having a good time. I
hope you are as well. Let's see ye doing the

(51:59):
thing loading. Okay, all right, okay, Okay, here we go.
No it's not the one. Nope, this thing is so long.
There's context window. Better be good on this. It's gonna suck.
It's going to be like what are you talking about?
What ghosts?

Speaker 2 (52:15):
Like?

Speaker 3 (52:15):
No, yeah, it's still that.

Speaker 6 (52:19):
Would not work really well for a story. But I
have been in a couple of events. I've gone to
a few events public paranormal investigation events, and it is
fascinating to be there. And they're not the same as
a team going in and investigating in the place on
their own, because you have you know, ten to fifteen

(52:39):
people with you, and so it's not quite the same thing,
but it is similar and you can still have experiences
when you do that. I've had a few, so I
can confirm that. And so yeah, I think this is
a fun thing to do and looking forward to more
of this going forward.

Speaker 3 (52:58):
That's let's see is it did it? Did it reach
its It's no, it's still it's still doing it. It's
it's gathering sources. This is crazy, Okay, I can tell
let's skip the steps, skip the remaining steps, just give it.
Spit us out the narrative. Man, come on, you got
you got us waiting here. We got Derek coming up
at the bottom of the hour, and h taking your
calls as well. Like I said, what do you guys

(53:19):
know about ghosthunting? Do you think there's something too it
doesn't have legs? Or is it just you know, us
trying to scare ourselves? And like I said, I can
see both sides of this. As usual. I can see
both sides of things, and I think it's a healthy
way to be because if you if you can't and
you don't, then you're missing aside, right, And that's what
it's all about. But tonight we're kind of looking at
a novel way of radio and trying to do a
group choose your own adventure, taking votes from the chat

(53:42):
and trying to create a full narrative of us going
through a fictional haunted prison and discovering, of course what
lies within. And in this moment, Ron tenterhooks waiting for
the chain, the chain to do something where we're investigating
the chain down the hallway. So maybe we come back

(54:03):
from the break and have this thing cranked out because
it's still going. Maybe we've reached the context window already,
but it's okay because I've got it hot key, so
I can open up a whole new window and give
it the choices we've made so far and then have
it continue with the narrative because I'm smart and I'm
no dummy, and I anticipated maybe this would happen. So
it's a doing this thing cranking proceeding with the team

(54:25):
actively following the chains into the corridor, documenting environmental changes
in phenomena. So it's doing the research and yeah, so
that's what's going on tonight. I got a ton of
stuff in the the not just the write up. Like
I said, the show right up as kind of generic
and boring. Tonight it's just basically talking about ghost hunting EMF.
It's talking about haunted penitentiaries, prisons and stuff. So yeah, okay, perfect,

(54:46):
perfect timing. This thing popped up. I'll read this. We'll
have a choice when we come back from the break,
we'll talk to Derek the Knightstalker and more from jams
here we go, okay, so but buh okay, So your
team moved fifty feet into the main core following the
rattling chains deeper into Blackwater State Penitentiary. The methodical pursuit
paid off immediately with measurable phenomena. EMF spiked to four

(55:10):
point seven milligaths with no electrical source, and the prison
has been without since nineteen eighty seven. The temperature dropped
from forty seven degrees to forty two. Of course, are
all of our meters and temperatures and thermometers and things
are just going nuts. Then then concentrated a cold spot
at thirty eight degrees fahrenheit, twelve feet ahead, the pattern changed,

(55:34):
the change stopped, replaced by barefoot footsteps on concrete. A
real time audible EVP was heard captured Cell seven, whispered
by a male voice, heard simultaneously by the entire team,
not a playback discovery. We all heard it with our

(55:55):
own ears, And of course it leads up to another choice,
which we'll get to in a second. But yeah, I
like it, so I'll take our choices, refresh this window
so we don't have to wait so long, and continue
as we go. But like I said, I'll probably build
an AP for this if this continues to be as
fun as it seems in the moment, but maybe it's

(56:17):
a novelty, they will fade. But yeah, okay, so we
got it, so things changed, footsteps an audible EVP. Then
of course we'll play back and hopefully find in the
ensuing investigation. Afterward we'll fix it in post and then
of course, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 6 (56:35):
What do you know?

Speaker 3 (56:36):
So I'll give you the actual the deets when we
get back on the choices, And I hope you guys
are having a good time. Yeah, am I reading this right?

Speaker 5 (56:46):
Okay?

Speaker 3 (56:46):
Yep? Oh, actually, hold on, no, so you've reached the
junction where three quarters meet. The chain sounds led you
here and stopped. The barefoot footsteps emerged from the center
corridor solitary confinement or of course the whole. On the
left is the administrative wing, the warden's office where the

(57:08):
final log injury was written, and in the center cell
blocked D and Cell seven where Marcus Holt to spend
eighty seven days in nineteen eighty two emerging catatonic. Yeah,
the right is the basement level. Okay, So yeah, so
we get The left is the administrative wing, the center
is cell Block D in Sell seven, and the right
is basement level tunnels to the exercise yard, river proximity

(57:31):
and unmarked graves. So there you go, okay, and we'll
get back to that in a second. Anything to add, James,
I'm gonna play some music. We'll be right back. Like
I said, this is a disaster, you know why. It's
an alpha test of a cool idea. Anything on that, James, Just.

Speaker 6 (57:46):
Some good options of possibilities, all.

Speaker 3 (57:48):
Right, think about where we're heading and what might be
down there. This is troubled minds on Michael Stranger. Where
were James Calceto tonight, the paranormal expert of Trouble Minds.
Give him a follow by the way, Celcito Paranormal dot
s A L S I d oh follow all of
our amazing friends. If you should be on that list
and you're not, let me know Troubledminds dot org for
words lite friends. We're at back. We got more on
the way. We're going to continue our exploration into the

(58:11):
fictional ghost Hunt penitentiary. You digging it? I am be
right back. More on the way, don't go anywhere. Welcome

(58:41):
back to Troubled Minds. I'm your host, Michael Strange. We're
streaming in all the places, doing all the things. Tonight
we're trying some novel radio. So if it's a hot mess,
you understand why I'm calling this to Living Accult Symposium
and together we're LARPing that we're investigating a prison. Yeah,

(59:02):
of course, with the choose your own adventure style, We've
got some choices coming up that will take boats from
the chat and tell you where the AI leads us next.
And there's no custom apt for this just yet, but
maybe I'll make one. And yeah, a lot of ideas here,
but we started with this wild place known as the
Let me just reframe this real quick, if you're just
joining us. This is from the Blackwater State Penitentiary. It

(59:26):
looms just above the river's edge. It's crumbling walls and
barbed fences, whispering secrets to the midnight wind. Abandoned since
nineteen eighty seven, the prison once held over eight hundred men,
some of the most notorious criminals in state history. And
it's heyday. Blackwater's somber reputation drew whispered warnings across the region.
Families locked doors, tight, locals cross the street rather than

(59:47):
pass it. Shadow got some famous inmates, Marcus Holt to
nickname the Prophet, we got Slimbarelli and mob enforcer Calvin
Bleeder Mays, all kinds of sick, twisted stuff. And as
part of the lore, we've got this idea of forty
seven unclaimed inmates that were buried in the yard over
the years, mysteriously. Yeah, and of course recent urban explorers

(01:00:10):
report shadow figures, phantom chains rattling which you've experienced, and
cell blocked these cold spot which supposedly three guards died
here during the infamous nineteen seventy nine riot that catches
us up, and of course we heard rattling chains follow
them down the hall, and now we are confronted with
three different places to go. However, we have Jareth the

(01:00:35):
ice talker. Let's get him in here to talk about
this for a second. Here, hank Ty James gets you
in just a moment. I won't play them.

Speaker 8 (01:00:42):
Hello, hello there, Well hello, I'm I'm the Chao Taka
and you all best turn back now you're here?

Speaker 3 (01:00:55):
Oh testing can you?

Speaker 2 (01:00:57):
Can you hear me?

Speaker 3 (01:00:58):
What are you doing in here? I thought the place
was abandoned.

Speaker 8 (01:01:02):
Well, it feels like I've been walking around here for ages.
Some might say close to thirty three years or not.
But I'm lost and I'm hearing voices. But but you're
best not going there further. This place ain't no joke.
And this they built this prison on a grave, a
place the natives fear to tread. Said it was to

(01:01:25):
keep the beast beneath from stern. But I reckon, it's
just a cage that keeps us in. Don't you go
thinking that you're safe just because you're go your fancy gadgets.
This place is older than the devil hisself. And they
got a hunger and ain't been fed and centurious. You'll
be the main course.

Speaker 11 (01:01:42):
Be aware.

Speaker 2 (01:01:45):
Wow. Do you see that guy? Huh fus weird?

Speaker 3 (01:01:48):
Right, that was weird? Did you see that guy?

Speaker 2 (01:01:49):
Jeems? Wow?

Speaker 6 (01:01:50):
Who was that?

Speaker 2 (01:01:51):
You kind of just faded in a mist that weirds
that's chilling.

Speaker 6 (01:01:54):
No, I don't know. It's it's odd how that happens
here and there, But you know, it's fine, everything's fine.

Speaker 2 (01:02:01):
Wow. But I kind of like what he said. It
was creepy and interesting.

Speaker 7 (01:02:04):
It's kind of a what I was thinking that maybe
this place was built on some kind of some kind
of portal, you know, some kind of weird, h liminal
area in itself.

Speaker 2 (01:02:13):
And maybe maybe it's not.

Speaker 7 (01:02:14):
Maybe the prison isn't haunted because of the tragedy or
the prisoners that were here and the tragedy that happened
to them. Maybe maybe whoever owned it built the prison
here and did the tragedies as some kind of ritual
sacrifice to whatever it to wells beneath.

Speaker 3 (01:02:28):
What do you think I did you go ahead James
to get anything there?

Speaker 6 (01:02:32):
I mean, who does that? Seriously? Derek? You No, I'm
absolutely kidding. Derek knows this. That's what I do. But yeah,
and that's such a common idea that it was worked
into Ghostbusters spoiler Earlert for an older movie now that
just came out, you know, like ten years ago whatever,
fifteen years ago, not really, but the building that was

(01:02:56):
a big part of the story in that movie was
built as a gateway for energy to be transferred to it.
So yeah, definitely something to that.

Speaker 7 (01:03:10):
It was a There was a prison on the first
season of the jack Owsborn Portals to Hell Show. It
all happened to be like every single episode, at least
in the first first season that's ten episodes were all
on rivers showed out river. So this kind of fits
into this this story too. But then the one prison
they went to, they give a bunch of aerial shots
of it, and it was designed like some kind of
weird dart board or some kind of weird It was

(01:03:32):
designed as if it like with some kind of star war.
It has some kind of bizarre like tape to it
that it seemed like it was kind of resonating energy
or whatever. And just like you were talking about the
tenons and stuff, and the whole guy was speaking in tongues.
The I forget the name of the second guy, but
he organized the prison riot and then his body went missing.

(01:03:53):
And then the artwork in cell blood of the guy
maze or whatever, all makes it seem like they kind
of locked a bunch of criminals up here, and then
they went even crazier within the place, and they were
kind of possessed once they were in the place, and
they were kind of like they were touched by whatever
darknesses and dwells over kind of you know, yeah, yeah, and.

Speaker 3 (01:04:14):
And was they were they were infecting each other, like
and I wonder about that too. As part of these
the trauma of the prison, I mean, it's it's not
these are not happy places, I've yeah, yeah, I mean, uh,
it's a trauma deluxe. And not only that, it's the
worst of the worst type of people. And imagine too,
like and as part of it, you know, I recognize

(01:04:35):
that justice isn't blind and all that stuff as they
tell us. Imagine if you were, you know, innocent of
something and you ended up in there for twenty years
with just these horrific people and you're just like a
really nice guy, Like, imagine that level of trauma. I mean,
these places are just just oozing with bad news. Vibes,
and I can imagine sort of that again as you're

(01:04:56):
describing the the cycle of energy, they kind of never dissipates.
It's like, you know, one bad guy in, the next
bad guy and then trauma here, trauma there, trauma everywhere.

Speaker 7 (01:05:06):
Yeah, exactly, I'm pitching her like whatever. Old family like
simpt some secret society bought up all of land because
of the mystical spot that like the natives feared or whatever,
and it was known as kind of this gateway to
Hell from from like the pilgrims that moved there, and
before that it was known as like the beast small
and had teeth and stuff. And then like the mystical

(01:05:28):
with the traumas like you're just talking about, it happens
like nically it might scar the area. But if we're
talking like mk ultra stuff like around especially the back
in the day prisons and jails and stuff. We're not
just used for criminals. Criminals were like also crazy people
and stuff. So if you know that a crazy person
or like somebody who is not crazy but like considered

(01:05:50):
crazy or maybe doesn't fit into regal society or in
the olden towns might might have had the site or
something like that. I mean the way mk ultra or
these like those institutes and academies games you were talking
about the other day of like they gather up with
the sight and then do the experiments on them to
kind of widen that like like strange of things or whatever.

(01:06:11):
They bring them to the location that they kind of
know is a din spot and get these people with
these like that are that are kind of not regular,
uh in something with some capacity, and then they do
experiments on them to widen the gate or whatever.

Speaker 2 (01:06:26):
The people are the gate.

Speaker 7 (01:06:27):
And so you bring in a mob, a mob hitman
who was probably a bad person, but not necessarily like crazy.
He's some kind of or whatever. The body's burned up
by whatever spirit enter them. You have another person who
went in there as just some like maybe a homeless
lunatic called themselves the prophet, and he entered the space.
All of a sudden he's taken over by some kind
of like Cthulu is called the priest. He's take he's

(01:06:50):
he's like kicking over by some force or whatever, speaking
in tongues or whatever. He's like they're made they're become
vessels or the trauma EXAs bates what's already there kind
of I don't think of all the time, regular regular thing.

Speaker 2 (01:07:03):
But what do you think the boy boy roll up?

Speaker 3 (01:07:05):
Yeah, great stuff, James, anything on that.

Speaker 6 (01:07:08):
I've heard all the podcasts I listened over the years
on my research before I knew I was doing research.
Rare cases of people who have called into or have
been interviewed on shows who spent time in prisons, who
said they had experiences while the prison was still in
operation and with negative forces being drawn to these places,

(01:07:35):
and people even saying that it wasn't necessarily that in
their case, it wasn't already there as far as they
could tell, but it came there. So of course it's
one person, so maybe it was already there. Who knows,
But I think the other possibility is there as well.

Speaker 7 (01:07:50):
Yeah, in like the Batman mythology and like the Gotham
Lower like all of Gotam is a little bit crazy.

Speaker 2 (01:07:55):
I talked about them for with the Big Moon and
stuff within within that.

Speaker 7 (01:07:59):
They have the Black Date Prison les panistically as the
similar connotation, but they have Arkham Asylum who they put
the kind of the crazier people in there. But then
they have Professor Strange like Hugo strain, who is this
this like this monster is moniacal crazy person who takes
these people who are who were if if it was

(01:08:20):
done in ancient times, they would be considered touched. They
would be the ones who were like leading the they
would be the shamans of the group, the ones leading
everything and does experiments on them because it has this
kind of the same way, uh like like that's kind
of one picture some kind of weird weird professor, weird
kind of wizard domin like person who's under the who's

(01:08:40):
wearing instead of wearing like is wearing a lab coat
instead and is like in charge of the given counseling
to these people who are these profits and these people
or whatever instead is actually like traumatizing even more so,
like I don't know they're they're individual souls whatever could
be in the place. But maybe it's all because it's
it's built on something deeper and yeah, yeada and I'm
goin to had a little bit Lord even know.

Speaker 2 (01:09:02):
What to what to do for a call.

Speaker 3 (01:09:06):
That was that was that was very very great with
the caretaker there that just vanished in the mist. Well,
maybe we'll find him down the road here but yeah,
fire stuff. Appreciate you being fully into it and even
recognize it. Like you you you nailed all the the
famous inmates like you. You The only thing you forgot
was like a single name, but you had all their names,
the crazy You're on fire.

Speaker 7 (01:09:25):
So yeah, so script wrap it up. Maybe maybe uh
just crafty and that that some kind of like the
Arkhams or whatever. They built this prison like under the
guise of making the town safer, but in reality the
town is built in the hell mouth and this is
the gate of the hell belt and they used the
blood of the sacrifice crazy people in order to to

(01:09:46):
widen the mill let whatever in. They're out and we're
about to and we us is about to walk down
the mouth like like like like Jonah and the wheel whatever.

Speaker 3 (01:09:56):
Be I appreciate that. You're fantastical. Always a pleasure, you
know you love dark the knight Stocker. To give him
a follow trouble minds dot Org for side friends, scroll
down just a little bit. It's under n night Stalker
st O c k e R. He calls us from
work most times and he is a working overnight as
the the most incredible tentacled night stalker and the known
multiverse and the tentacles are a rumor. I'm not sure

(01:10:17):
that's true, but do give him a follow on his
YouTube channel. Appreciate that very much and fantastic call. Okay,
so back to the narrative here regarding that again, Remember
we're collectively LARPing and ghost hunting together, all right, So
anyway back to this now, remember we had the real
time audible EVP that whispered Cells seven heart simultaneously by

(01:10:39):
the entire team. We've reached the centersection, a junction of
three corridors where the chain sounds led to you led us.
The barefoot footsteps emerged from the center corridor, which was
cell Block D or solitary confinement the whole. The left
is the administrative winging the warden's office where the final
log entry was written, and the center is cell blocked
D and Cell seven where Marcus Holt spent eighty seven days,

(01:10:59):
which we said, and the right basement level tunnels to
exercise art. Okay, but anyway, remember this as part of
this investigation in the narrative so far. During our EVP
session of the intersection, something extraordinary happened. Every team member
heard the same whisper call sell seven. This is our
residual haunting. This is an intelligent, responsive, interactive communication. Is

(01:11:20):
there an entity here almost inviting us to a particular place.
It created measurable electromagnic presence, as said manifested thermal signature
on the IR camera. And the presence is standing outside
what appears to be a circle. I mean, we don't
know that, we feel that, but anyway, so we're now
at a critical decision point. We're at the crossroads.

Speaker 2 (01:11:43):
And the.

Speaker 3 (01:11:46):
Choices or as follows, turn on the flashlights, direct visual
contact or tempt to see what the instruments are detecting.
B continue EVP session in darkness. See accept the invitation
to sell seven and all screenshot these and put them

(01:12:06):
up on the thing again. A turn on the flashlights,
look for direct visual contact. B continue the EVP session
in the darkness, which we got a hit on and
see accept the invitation to sell seven. Yeah, that one
sounds fine, doesn't that sound fine? Jane sells seven? Oh,
my goodness, gratous.

Speaker 6 (01:12:25):
Everything is fine. I mean, I don't see what's in
that fine about any of this. It's it's all fine.

Speaker 3 (01:12:31):
Indeed, indeed by me, just a second here, I'm going
to drop this up and your show for about thirty
seconds or more.

Speaker 6 (01:12:39):
I'll just yeah, that's funny, because there is this idea
that when it comes to you, places that are said
to be haunted, the basements are the addicts are the
places where consciousness soul spirits will hang out or even

(01:13:01):
hide during investigations. So I'll just leave that there for
a future reference in the start, I think and see
what everyone thinks of that.

Speaker 3 (01:13:11):
Yeah, right, exactly, Okay, the options are up on the
screen again. A turn on flashlights, look for direct visual
contact again has additional information, attempt to see what the
instruments are detecting high risk, maximum evidence potential. Your protection
supports this aggressive approach, meaning this circle assault that we
built as we came in b continue the EVP session
in the darkness, ask more questions, build trust, Let the

(01:13:33):
entity communicate on its terms methodical, less threatening, audio, evidence
focused or see accept the invitation to sell seven. The
entity told you where to go. Follow that direction to
the solitary confinement epicenter where Marcus Holtz consciousness may have
fractured in nineteen eighty two. Ah, everybody's like, see you
see the cat's massy harded up. See give us c okay,

(01:13:56):
let's maximum novelty and maximum spookiness. We will cook see
up in just a second. Here, let me a double
check rumble to make sure that we're getting anything other
than see here. Uh yeah, so we'll give it a
second to vote here. But uh okay, So again, like
I said, experimental radio, we're looking at this in a
different way and kind of LARPing that we're in this

(01:14:17):
old penitentiary and we're ghost hunting and so we're sort
of a choose your own adventure voting by by chat
and it seems like maximum novelty is on the game
here because everybody wants c for us to go accept
the invitation to sell seven yeah see see, I'm like,
I don't see anything other than see it's okay, yes, uh,

(01:14:38):
we'll give it a bit of time if you guys
want to vote and yeah, uh so okay, so we're
about at that point where this is uh maybe we'll
take a break in ten minutes here, but I don't
know because if I let me, let me grab grab
this one and see if I can generate it, because
who knows how fast it'll be. But let's try that. So, okay,
so we're gonna accept the invitation to sell seven on

(01:15:00):
the EVP and the entity told you where to go.
Follow that direction to the solitary confinement epicenter where Marcus
holds consciousness may have fractured in nineteen eighty two. And okay,
but bu bu buh okay, let's tell it this one.
All right, there we go and let's see what happens. Yeah,
so what it does. I can do a fast version
of this too. I'll try that as we come back.

(01:15:21):
I just want to make sure it's thorough and figures
all the things out and gives us a comprehensive thing
that makes some sense. But it's it's a little too
smart sometimes, and that's that's the worst part of it.
But what about what about these other choices? James, do
you think that turning on the flashlights would be a
wise situation for finding something? I mean, you know, maybe
it's like a credit down the hall that's kind of

(01:15:42):
a scraping against you know, a raccoon or something scraping
against the wall. And we thought we heard sell seven,
but it was just a raccoon kind of a bumping
down the way. What do you think.

Speaker 6 (01:15:51):
Yeah, I mean both they're good options A and B.
Splash lights are they're tricky if you at least what
I've heard is if you're an investigators, if you want
to see any kind of lights that may appear electric anomalies,
light anomalies, if you have the flashlight on, then that

(01:16:12):
might be harder to see those if they happen. But again,
like you pointed out there, it could be that you
need the flashlight to see if there is some kind
of a regular, everyday, ordinary biological being that is just
hanging out there that found a way in somehow that
is making the sounds that sound a lot like someone saying,

(01:16:36):
you know seven, So it's tricky. The option B is
safe as well, in that you're just continuing your investigation,
but not maybe not just rushing into things, and it's
rishing the things in the story is fun, So I

(01:16:57):
have no problem with threshing the things in the story context,
but I don't know if I would do that in
real world city.

Speaker 3 (01:17:06):
The ghost whispers in your ear tells you where to go,
and you're like, cool, let's do that. But of course
all you siko's out there are just smashing the seat
the seakey as hard as possible. So that's fine. So
we're gonna we're gonna accept the invitation to sell seven.
It is as it cooks up the last bit here
or I don't know about the last bit. We could
probably dragged this on for days and days and days,
but I don't. Like I said, it's it's a novel idea.

(01:17:28):
At this point, I've never seen this done before. I
thought it'd be interesting if we could pull it off,
and I think it's working. But you guys tell me
as usual, you guys are the ones here hanging out
and enduring the brutal pain of it all. A great
call from Derek too. By the way, the character added
to the bit of good mourning this off additional Laura
as part of it. I mean, yeah, yeah, except the

(01:17:52):
invitation to sell seven. It's it's the way things go, right.
Let's see if I can crak this thing out. I'll
tell it to hurry up. Okay, all right, yeah, I'm
gonna have to another window to do this because I'm
running out of space. Here the remaining steps, Okay, here
we go. So we're going. We're accepting the invitation of
Stel seven. The entity told you where to go. We're
going to follow that direction to the solitary confinement epicenter
where Marcus Holt's consciousness may have fractured. In nineteen eighty two.

(01:18:14):
Remember so, Marcus Holt was nicknamed the prophet who claimed
to speak in tongues and predicted a plague would sweep
the prison. He spent eighty seven days in solitary before
dying under mysterious circumstances. There you go, the the forced
sensory deprivation as punishment. It's horrific. Yeah, sensory deprivation comes

(01:18:36):
into this also, by the way, James, because as I
was kind of going through and I'm not sure if
you read the initial brief when I sent it over
to you, the perplexity bit, but it went into that
a little bit, talking about how the shamanic journey was
kind of built in many ways on that sensory deprivation
aspect of blindfolds, which are very familiar with, and other
things that are I don't know, interesting interesting to the

(01:18:59):
narrator for sure. Got anything on that bid there?

Speaker 6 (01:19:04):
Yeah, the blindfolds. When you're wearing a blindfold a lie
or if you can't see anything, I mean, for all
the senses you have sort of deprived. At least in
my experiences, just with the blindfold, you start sort of
thinking about things more your mind. At least in my case,

(01:19:25):
it just goes because there's not that external information coming in.
So what are you going to do? You're going to
be sort of stuck within your own mind in a way.
That's the best way I can describe that. So I
can't imagine, you know, that happening in a forced kind
of setting, in a prison like that, in those circumstances,

(01:19:52):
it must be terrible. I personally, I don't enjoy wearing
a blindfold as it is. As much as I do,
I have to because of my they're so sensitive delight,
but it's not something I really enjoy. It's just a
necessity at this point for me.

Speaker 3 (01:20:06):
Yeah, definitely, It's it's one of those things, like I said, Uh,
both ways happen and you can do this, you know
what's uh uh. Joe Rogan talks about this the sensory
deprivation tanks. We've talked about this a lot on the
show as well. Is that it is part of that
the shamanic journey, but also in this case it's it's
used horrifically as some sort of you know, psyche crushing punishment.

(01:20:28):
That's I don't know, imagine being forced into that like
it's it's and then you know, not able to get
up in the dark all the time, and I mean
all kinds of stuff, right, like you're just maybe shackled down.
I don't I've never been in the whole personally, so
I don't know what it's like. But uh, you know,
I'm gonna try and stay out of that place. But yeah,
it's it is definitely a strange idea as part of
this and how it how it really becomes not just

(01:20:50):
both ways of well, you know, some people sort of
force this, but then other people are forced into it.
And as usual, right, intention matters and all the rest
of this stuff is in only important when it comes
to what comes next with our consciousness and including the
ghost hunt and being invited to the cell block we're
moving into.

Speaker 6 (01:21:11):
Yeah, what's funny is if the choices had been different,
and it had been options to go either to the
administrative section or the basement, I actually would have chose
the basement for the reason I mentioned earlier, there might
be activity there and that you were not necessarily supposed

(01:21:33):
to pick up on if you go to that place.
So that's why I was curious. I was sort of
surprised when the three options there, the three different directions,
were not given as choices. I thought that was fascinating because,
like I said, I would have gone with the basement
in the yard outside.

Speaker 3 (01:21:54):
Yeah, a lot of good options actually, because that's where
they supposedly had the forty seven barrier. Whatever it was. Okay,
we got we got an output here, we got an output. Okay,
let's do it. So hopefully we'll have again a way
to do this after the break and vote again. Thank
you for the votes. Thanks, thanks guys for sticking in
for this experimental radio thing tonight, the alpha version of
the Choose your Own Adventure radio show. Anyway, this is

(01:22:16):
trouble Minds actually, but we're working on.

Speaker 6 (01:22:18):
So here we go.

Speaker 3 (01:22:18):
So we've chosen c except the invitation to sell seven,
where the entity basically told us were to go through
an audible EVP here it is your team followed the thermal. Wait, okay,
hold on, what just happens? It's got a recap, so
I'm gonna read the recap. Your team followed the thermal
signature down the narrowing center. This is crazy. It's got

(01:22:40):
a recap center. Coorder toward Cell Block D, passing increasingly
disturbing messages carved into concrete walls. Can't breathe eighty seven days.
They're listening, listening, and most chillingly on the wall, Marcus.
As you move deeper, the temperature dropped progressively unnaturally forty
two degrees thirty nine thirty six cooler and cooler, Cell

(01:23:03):
Block D thirty one degrees fahrenheit below freezing. We can
see our breath.

Speaker 2 (01:23:06):
Now.

Speaker 3 (01:23:08):
You've entered solitary confinement, Cell Block D. The whole twelve
steel doors, each leading to a six x eight foot
cell where inmates entured complete sensory deprivation for weeks or months.
This is where psychological torture occurred legally until the prison closed.
The EMF readings saturate the entire chamber two point eight

(01:23:29):
to three point five milligas everywhere, indicating the space itself
holds residual electromagnetic energy from decades of human suffering. Cell
seven the store regarding the space sell seven. The door
stands ajar six inches open, though it should be locked
and rusted. Shut. Your instruments reveal extraordinary phenomena. The EMF

(01:23:54):
reading at the door seven point two milligaus, massive field
with no electrical source. The temperature inside measures at twenty
six degrees below freezing, colder than the already frigid surrounding space,
darkness that absorbs light. Our flashlights do not even penetrate
this space. And a thermal signature that seems inside waiting.

(01:24:21):
The voice speaks clearly. Now eighty seven days I counted
every day. I can't remember what sunlight looks like. This
is Marcus Holds consciousness fractured and trapped since nineteen eighty two,
and when he spent eighty seven days in sell seven

(01:24:42):
and emerged catatonic, whispering in unknown languages. Okay, okay, this
is great because it actually has like part of the
the h the conversation. Let me read this and you'll
see how amazing this is. Like I said, I'm using
perplexity for all this. I didn't eat anything custom other
than a prompt to start and kind of brainstorming during

(01:25:03):
the day. And then this is it breaks down not
just the ideas, but also it's filling in the blanks
and sort of the esoteric discussion, So check this out.
Solitary confinement creates a specific psychiatric syndrome documented by Harvard
psychiatrist Stuart Grassian hallucinations, panic attacks, paranoia, hypersensitivity, cognitive deterioration,

(01:25:28):
and psychosis within forty eight hours. Inmates experience anxiety and
time distortion within seven days, so hallucinations begin within thirty days.
Psychosis sets in after eighty seven days, complete psychological breakdown.
But here's the esoteric paradox. The same conditions that shatter

(01:25:49):
consciousness when imposed as torture, isolation, darkness, sensory deprivation, as
I was saying, are used deliberately by mystics in Shawman
to achieve altered states and spiritual contact. So I'll leave
it there. As we were talking about, I kind of
put the the cart before the horse before the break there.
But that's the whole point. Oh oh, there is a
break effort. Well, clocks all screwed up anyway, anything on that, James,

(01:26:16):
And then we'll take a quick break after that and
we'll be back for five on the top of the
top of the hour.

Speaker 6 (01:26:23):
Yeah, there's there's the idea of our own minds and
how they work, and the paranormal and the idea of
people experiencing paranormal things when they are not in the
best state of mind is something that has been coming
out in more recent years as a possibility, sort of
like a vicious circle. Unfortunately in some cases.

Speaker 3 (01:26:48):
Absolutely, and we'll be back more after the break. Thanks
again James for being joning Allen spot and always willing
to jump in here and save me for myself. More
coming up more with James Salcido, the paranormal expert and
your cause as well. What is your take on this? And,
like I said, feedback is good because, like I said,
this is a brand new thing. I thought of it
this morning. It was like, you know what, for better

(01:27:08):
or worse, I'm going to do this and I'm dragging
you poor souls along with me. What do you think
choose your own adventure radio or not. You're right back
more Trouble Minds on the way, Do not go anywhere.

(01:27:39):
Welcome back to the Weirdo Freak Show. Welcome to the
Freak Show. Got Troubled Minds is the name of the show.
My name is Michael Strange. We're here doing a live
action role play ghost Hunt brought to you by perplexity.
Yeah right, Okay, so we got all kinds of things happening.

(01:28:01):
We've got the consciousness of this, the profits arriving and
even speaking to us now and fully audible EVPs or
maybe speaking to us in our minds. What comes next?
I know some of those answers, but I'm not gonna
tell you. But like I said, how you look at
how you're feeling on this, Do you like the format?
What about entities speaking to you through not just EVPs

(01:28:25):
but maybe into your mind. There's a lot of things
here in this space before we even get to the
sort of the climax of this, as we kind of
come down to the end here. But like I said,
I I can do a bunch of this in different ways.
And like I said, I was hoping to do three
different narratives, like a fantasy narrative sort of a futuristic one,
and a haunted one, but all we had time today
was to do the haunted one. So here's what we get.

(01:28:45):
But anyway, we can refine this and make it better,
and you know, just just better. I don't know, is
better better or is this fine? Or like you know,
nice idea, Mike, never bring this back. I don't know. James,
welcome back to the thing, thanks for being patient, and
Johnny on the spot always anything to add to any
of that, feedback on the show so far on this
idea and welcome back, how you doing, I'm okay.

Speaker 6 (01:29:07):
It's it's different and I like that. I I think
it's you know, figuring out what kind of shows for
to do for entire audiences is always going to be
tricky anyway, but I think at least for once in
a while, that this would be a good thing to do.
The mind to mind communication part, I think is an
aspect I've told the story and I'm not going to

(01:29:30):
go into the whole thing. Before my first experience with
the paranormal that I had that I can remember, I
was I was able to see something across a room
even though I'm legally blind that I should not have
been able to see clearly. And yeah, I was still
able to and I didn't know what was going at
the time because I was a kid. But now I

(01:29:53):
think it was some kind of telepathic communication, as in,
someone was there and they wanted me to see them.
It didn't matter if I couldn't see. They were going
to have me make sure that I saw them, So
I think that's a possibility.

Speaker 3 (01:30:09):
Yeah, Like move into your mind's eye anyway and sort
of present themselves to you as Hey, I'm here, bro,
Like what's going on? What are we gonna how are
we going to do? Now? Now that you see me
in your mind's eye and you know I'm here and
I know you that, I know that, you know that,
I know that you know right that whole bit, I
don't know that that becomes The wild part about this
is that many people have suggested that's the way this

(01:30:30):
does happen is is it's a sort of a telepathic
sort of communication, which is why people are not likely
to talk about it and all the stigma as part
of it because you're like, oh, sure you did right
like that. We we hear that type of stuff a
lot in these these communities when people tell their experiences.
It's like, I mean, look, give people a benefit of
the doubt. I think I think you know, you weren't
there with them. You don't know what they experienced or

(01:30:51):
what they saw. You know, a little bit of grace
is like all right, cool, you know, like that's that's
a that's a wild tale. But you know what else
could it be. Let's talk about paul abilities and certainly
mind to mind communication is one of them.

Speaker 6 (01:31:04):
Yeah, and I you know, it's funny. I did a
thing I guess appearance on a friend's stream earlier today,
and I brought up the point that it's fine if
if people if you if you don't think that something
is possible, that's something that someone explained, It's it's fine
if they have that view, that's fine. What's not fine

(01:31:25):
is making fun of them or telling them I don't
believe that's that's possible that you had that experience. Uh,
that's not okay, because whether you mean to or not
that that that can cause you know, a lot of
bad feelings and h it's not easy to deal with that.
And the stigma is still there on these subjects. It's

(01:31:48):
in some ways it's gotten better, but it's not completely
gone either.

Speaker 3 (01:31:52):
Yeah, exactly. And look, I'm guilty of it too. Sometimes,
you know, you say insensitive things or whatever, not really
recognizing that you know, that experience is as deeply traumatic
in a lot of ways. And you know, like me,
kind of being the talk show host, I'm supposed to
be a little bit entertaining at least and so there's
you know, there's kind of you cross the line sometimes
and it's not intentional, it's just it is something to

(01:32:15):
be aware of, and you're absolutely right, and it is something. Look,
and I'm always critiquing myself and wondering what I could
do better, right, like thinking in these terms, and of
course which brought us to tonight in this whole idea
of a whole new format and maybe mixing some of
this stuff in. And because I'm listening to other radio
shows and you know, they're just like always running out
of time and have way too much content for like

(01:32:37):
the time allotted because of the commercial breaks and stuff.
But you see what I mean, Like, there's there are
ways to do this better that we've we have been
doing it. There's ways for me to be better than
I have been. And so let's thanks for being open
minded and sharing this experience. And and uh yeah, the
votes and everything else by anything else on that, And
we got to Matt Saw with his hand up. Will
go to him here and talk to him. And we've
got the final actual vote as well. I've it up

(01:33:00):
on the screen and I'll read you the options in
a second here, but anything else to add them we'll
go to metto.

Speaker 6 (01:33:06):
Just glad to be here helping with this, And yeah,
I think you know this whole discussion. I think we
could do a whole other show on paranormal investigation and
what are they actually picking up? Are they picking up
just spirits or are they picking up on other things
as well? I think they could be a whole other show.

Speaker 3 (01:33:23):
Yeah, absolutely, And I'll read the stuff here in a second.
Let's go to Mattso Matthew and California Temple of the
l podcast. What's their brother? You're in trouble minds? How
are you? Tonight's go right ahead.

Speaker 10 (01:33:33):
Hello?

Speaker 2 (01:33:34):
Can you hear me?

Speaker 3 (01:33:35):
Loud and clear?

Speaker 2 (01:33:37):
Oh?

Speaker 11 (01:33:38):
How can you hear me these devices that you have?
My name is Daniel Smith. I remember I'm from this prison.
I was wrongfully accused of murder.

Speaker 3 (01:33:53):
It was not me.

Speaker 10 (01:33:53):
I would never do that.

Speaker 11 (01:33:55):
I remember I was in this prison and then I
was in the back.

Speaker 10 (01:34:02):
I'm stuck here?

Speaker 11 (01:34:03):
Can you help me? How can you hear me?

Speaker 8 (01:34:05):
Now?

Speaker 11 (01:34:07):
Can you help me out of this prison? I'm stuck
here forever?

Speaker 2 (01:34:11):
Oh?

Speaker 11 (01:34:12):
Hey, guys up, Hey, Mike hem me good?

Speaker 3 (01:34:14):
Yeah, loud and clear? Did you guys see that? Did
you guys? Hear that there was there was something we
had an entity here talking to us more EVPs fully audible.
Did you hear that, James?

Speaker 6 (01:34:24):
Yeah, I heard that. I wish I could say I'm surprised,
but you know, it happens.

Speaker 2 (01:34:29):
Yeah, that was weird.

Speaker 11 (01:34:31):
What's going on?

Speaker 4 (01:34:31):
It's called the talk about EVPs and and can I
talk about things and then get back into some OP
playing with you guys?

Speaker 3 (01:34:38):
Yeah, totally, totally. What do you think about the format?

Speaker 6 (01:34:43):
I love it.

Speaker 4 (01:34:44):
I remember we've done this before back in the day,
and there's always fun. But I was gonna talk about
an e VP experience that I had and real quick
and this talk this takes place when I went to
the zach Begin's Hunted Museum in Lost Face few years back,
and this story goes, you know, you go into this

(01:35:06):
room and there's a doll and it's supposed to talk
to the doll, you know, and if you go in
the room, and to my surprise, I didn't know, there's
you know that that static sound that the e v
P the right and there's there's an e v P
in the room, and all of a sudden, we start hearing,

(01:35:27):
you know, a little girl's voice talking to us, I
can really hear what it said.

Speaker 11 (01:35:32):
But I heard I heard a little girl's voice several times.

Speaker 10 (01:35:36):
Coming through the e v P.

Speaker 4 (01:35:38):
And of course I'm laughing, like, yeah, this is like
a recording, right, like they they're just playing it to uh,
you know, heighten the mood.

Speaker 10 (01:35:48):
Let's say, right, it's a joke.

Speaker 4 (01:35:51):
But then you know, we come out and the tour
guide they can kind of see they can watch you
on video and she was like, oh my gosh, like
a dolt was talking to you on the e VP.
You guys are very special that you guys, that that
doll was talking to you guys. And I was like again,
I was like, oh that's what they you know, that's
what they always say, right, they said.

Speaker 3 (01:36:11):
Everyone Stagecraft, you say you say that to all of
the good looking young man, don't you.

Speaker 10 (01:36:19):
And so I'm on the facing.

Speaker 5 (01:36:23):
Was it real?

Speaker 6 (01:36:24):
I don't know?

Speaker 4 (01:36:25):
They say that they And there's several rooms in that
in that museum that have the e VPS recording live
in there and you hear you hear things coming through.
I'm just I'm on the fence, you know, is it
was it? Did I really hear some things or was
it recording?

Speaker 6 (01:36:43):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (01:36:44):
I'm on fifty to fifty. I do love this kind
of stuff, those kind of topics, And I'm just gonna say,
you say, out here now, with all this ghost hunting
stuff and all this stuff going on, I don't think
that ghosts are anything what we think we know. I
think it's something completely different. And we're weigh off. And

(01:37:07):
that's just my take. Anything on the that's my little sorry.
If you want to, you want to play for a minute, sure,
what's the next Choose your venture?

Speaker 3 (01:37:19):
Okay, so I got the thing here. So again, remember
we're all together as a group. We're exploring this haunted
penitentiary and we're yeah, we're we're down into the cell
block where what's his name lost his mind? What's his name?
Marcus hold back name, the prophet. Yeah, you guys are
on the game, on the game more than I am.
Marcus hold nickname, the prophet who claimed to speak in

(01:37:40):
tongues and predicted a plague would sweep to prison. We'll
spend eighty seven days in solitary before dying under mysterious circumstances,
and it supposedly broke his brain. So the so we're
down there in that that spot solitary confinement cell seven,
as we've been drawn to. And this, uh, here's the
final options. I'll or read them aloud there on the

(01:38:01):
screen now, and so see if I'm doing this ight,
I'll have this prepared beforehand and all the stuff and
have like the things already generated. But you know the possibilities.
But this is this is like I said, fun as well. Anyways,
the final three options. A enter cell seven is a
full team. Everyone goes inside together, group of protection, maintained experience,

(01:38:22):
the intensity collectively maximum support, and evidence maximum psychological impact.
The risk is high, evidence potential extremely high, and the
impact intense. Option B one investigator enters alone for ten minutes.
I vote for James. Single volunteer mirrors single volunteer mirrors

(01:38:43):
Marcus's isolation. The team monitors from outside. Creates opportunity for
profound one on one contact, most psychologically challenging and of
course dangerous for the person. Re elect risk very high,
evidence potential, maximum impact found C investigate from the doorway,
Remain outside, shine lights and ask questions through the opening.

(01:39:06):
Safer approach maintaining distance, less immersive but still documented. So
you crazy, He's let us down to sell seven, So
which which is a go ahead?

Speaker 10 (01:39:16):
Bett Ah, I'll go in and you guys can investigate
from outside.

Speaker 3 (01:39:26):
We kind of wait, wait, wait, we need to we
need to vote as a group. So Matt volunteers. Matt
volunteered to go in. He's the guinea pig for the
option B. One investigator goes alone, so so Matthew votes
B and he's he volunteers as the guinea pig. I
dig it, I dig it. So votes are open again,

(01:39:48):
Like I said, very informal. Just type in the chat A,
B or C. There's a you know, full team aspect.
There's remember and here's the crazy part about this. It's uh,
it's it's been tracking sort of that protection spell we
did when we went in and wink wink as we
remained together as a group. It kind of gives me
DM notes as this thing flows, which is crazy. It's
like recaps and DM notes and all this stuff. So

(01:40:09):
we have a protection spell in place, remember that. So
if we send Matt sell in all by himself and
wait outside, maybe he's not within the protection spell. Wheelhouse.
I don't know, you guys got to take on that.

Speaker 6 (01:40:22):
But either one of you guys, well, I will just
say I would, I would vote, and I did vote.
See for one reason, Yes, that door is open, but
you have to consider the possibility of someone not physical.

(01:40:44):
There was not a remember of the team closing that
door while the person is in that cell and then
having the door get stuck and then having to leave
the person to get help to get the door.

Speaker 3 (01:41:03):
Matthew, anything on that.

Speaker 11 (01:41:05):
Yeah, thanks, Ams, Thanks.

Speaker 12 (01:41:11):
I'm just saying that's that's why I'm I'm not going
with the option of having one person staying there because
you know it's i mean for horror game, horror story,
then yeah, definitely be.

Speaker 3 (01:41:25):
Uh you know, going good.

Speaker 10 (01:41:30):
See get me out.

Speaker 3 (01:41:32):
Yeah, I'm just reading a chat, laughing at the chat.

Speaker 6 (01:41:37):
So it's it's yeah, it all depends on you all,
but yeah, I would go and see.

Speaker 3 (01:41:42):
Okay, so we've got a lot of c's. There's a
lot of c's, there's there's a lot of b s
to uh, Interestingly, I don't think there's any a's any
any where's the votes on rumble guys. You guys even
listening what's going on over there all playing grab ass
over there and rumble. Okay, So so okay, Option A
Interstell seven is a full team. Option B, one investigator

(01:42:03):
enters alone for ten minutes. In option C, investigate from
the doorway. There's a lot of c's. We got to Yeah,
I don't know, like like all you sikos let us
down to like the deepest, darkest hole in the dungeon,
and now now we want to sit at the doorway.
What's going on? What's going on here?

Speaker 6 (01:42:25):
Yeah?

Speaker 9 (01:42:25):
I am.

Speaker 6 (01:42:26):
I'm surprised actually as well, because I would think they
would they would go for either A or B, and
A would be a bad idea too. Think about that
way again for the same reason. What if we all
go in there and that door gets closed.

Speaker 3 (01:42:44):
Yes, then we all perish together? All right?

Speaker 2 (01:42:47):
Is it?

Speaker 3 (01:42:47):
Is it? Matt's olid is we got we got bu
ras voted B over there on a rumble. Where's where's
the votes? Guys? They're all over there networking, they're up
they're building the uh yeah, Tartaria or whatever's going on
over there. Okay, So Derek says he, for the sake
of the story, let's throw mats Ol in and see
what happens. He did volunteer, didn't he. Steven England says,

(01:43:11):
be which is the one investigator yeah, so we got
season b's we can coin flip. How about this? How
about this, because this is sort of the the the
final culmination. Let's go with B and then we will
do a replay for the final segment and go with C.
So both of you guys the voted, both get the
the actual space here and we can kind of see

(01:43:32):
the safe way and see the mats Ou getting cooked
way because why not? Right? Why not any eject objections
to that? So we can kind of cheat a little
bit and do the superposition B n C together and
we'll I'll start cooking be now and then we'll get
to this in a second. Any objections, gentleman, is matso
still here? I'm not sure if you left as still there? Cool?

(01:43:54):
You better because he's the guy going in, he's the
guy about to go in. Objections to both B and C. Nope,
no objections, no objections? All right, all right, So we're
gonna go B. We're gonna throw Mats all in all
by himself, close the door, and then we're going to uh, yeah,
I think you're right. I think for for do sea first,

(01:44:18):
Sea first. Don's got it right, hold on, So we're
gonna do sea first. Which is kind of the cautious way.
And then we're gonna rewind in our brains and then
do do B and throw mats on and see what happened.
All right, Okay, so I'm gonna I'm gonna do this.
I'm gonna cook this, and uh, I'll see if I
could do it the fast way. But what uh, what
else you guys got on any of this to buy

(01:44:38):
me a second?

Speaker 5 (01:44:39):
Here?

Speaker 3 (01:44:39):
Lots of things in play as usual, investigating dark places,
haunted places, residual energy. And I do like that Mattsol
has been to that. Zach begins on a museum. When
I met him and Lacey, we had dinner a couple
of times here and also in California, and they talked
about a little bit, and there's there's some interesting things
happening there and some interesting you know, quote artifacts. I

(01:45:01):
don't know. It's a bizarre thing. But you guys want
to buy me in minutes and I'll cook this in
and we'll see what it spits out, and then we'll
go with the scary one part B after the break
when we get back here, because it is going to
take a couple of minutes to cook. But anything to
add gentlemen, go right ahead.

Speaker 6 (01:45:19):
Well, if it's okay, I do have a quick story
about my first experience going on a public investigation, real
quick and funny enough. It involves the voice of a
little girl. So we'll maybe synchronicity there, because it was
an adults only event, and you know, any kind of

(01:45:42):
weird way, just only adults. And with the group. Once
we all got there, we were split into two groups,
and one group stayed in the basement and one went
to the second floor. So there was a full empty,
full empty There was an entire empty floor between us
and we were sitting down there and everyone had started

(01:46:04):
that the EEDP session, the other quarters going and all that,
and the investigators asked if there was anyone there with us,
and we at one point, sitting there in the darkness,
we heard a little girl talking and laughing coming from
the ground floor from the four above us. Now, either

(01:46:26):
it was set up, which is I cannot never rule out,
even though I've been to other events with that group
and I don't feel like they would do that. But
either it was set up or it wasn't. And we
heard something anomalous, and at the same time there were
people seeing lights at the other end of the basement.
Of course, they were behind where my family and I

(01:46:47):
were sitting, so we didn't get to see them. But yeah,
so that kind of stuff, there's something to it. And
whether it's it's our own minds and our own thoughts
generating things, or it's others, or it's both, I don't know.

Speaker 3 (01:47:03):
Yeah, the the trope's resurface right as usual, These these
things have a way of kind of finding their way
back into popular culture, into the geist and all the
rest of the stuff. And yeah, I do wonder and
I'm with Matt cell on that too. It I mean,
I wouldn't put it beside them to you know, not
have like a little tiny speaker in there, you know,

(01:47:25):
creepy people out to give them a spooky story to tell.
But also like who knows. I mean, that's that's the
type of stuff. It's just supposedly some of the most
haunted artifacts of the world. So yeah, what the hell's
going on with that? Anything? The ad mat Sell Dip,
I think you mightey dipped. You're the best, uh stick around,

(01:47:49):
because we're going to throw you in the in the
hole and they're gonna they're gonna be okay, let's stay
right there.

Speaker 10 (01:47:57):
Close the door.

Speaker 3 (01:47:59):
Oh oh, we're gonna leave the door open. I think
you might be outvoted throwing. Okay, all right, here we go.
So this is a part C. We're going from investigat
from the doorway, and this is what it spits out.
I'll do I'll do it the fast way way because

(01:48:20):
so it doesn't have to do the thing and this
is still still very good. So your team gathers outside
the slightly opened door of cell seven. Lights are trained
on the gap, recorders are rolling E MF, and temperature
monitors are in place the thresholds. The threshold remains six
inches open beyond that absolute darkness of course you would expect. Right,

(01:48:43):
You're relying on the strength of your high protection, the
salt barrier at the entrance, the prayer shield, the group confidence,
all the rest of that stuff. Like I said, it
has like the DM notes, which is pretty cool.

Speaker 6 (01:48:52):
So here we go.

Speaker 3 (01:48:53):
The team leader that's you, says, we proceed carefully. If Marcus,
this consciousness is still here, we approach with respect, record everything.
No one goes in.

Speaker 5 (01:49:06):
Not yet.

Speaker 3 (01:49:07):
Flashlights aimed in the cell. The beams are strangely shortened,
light absorbed by the darkness. The EMF meter placed at
the door steady at seven point two milligaus. Digital audio
recorders running in the doorway and just inside. The infrared
thermometer reads twenty six degrees fahrenheit inside the cell, well
below freezing. The first question Marcus, we can hear you.

(01:49:31):
We know you spent eighty seven days in here. Can
you show us a sign your present? EVP pause for
thirty seconds static, then a faint echo captured only on
the recording not in the room.

Speaker 6 (01:49:49):
Here.

Speaker 3 (01:49:52):
Second question, are you trapped? Do you want help? EVP?
Pause another thirty seconds. On playback, a voice filled with
exhaustion and longing can't leave two cold. Third question, what
kept you here? Is that the darkness, the cold, something else?

(01:50:15):
Another thirty second pause, A chilling reply caught in real
time as a whisper and on recording forgotten left behind.
EMF spikes to nine point five at the threshold, then
wavers and returns to baseline. Temperature drops to twenty two
degrees inside cell seven. Your breath now dense and visible

(01:50:38):
even outside the cell. The darkness inside flickers as if
showing after images of chalk tally marks along the inner walls.
Then erases them in a blink. A sound echoes from
inside audible for all the scraping of fingernails on concrete
than silence. Why was I left here? The voice asks,

(01:51:05):
not directed at you, but at the universe. Experimental radio
going on tonight. This is Troubled Minds on Michael Strange.
We're LARPing together as we exhibit no as we experience
and investigate the fictional haunted penitentiary. If you right back

(01:51:27):
for the final conclusion, we're about to throw Matt Style
in and close the door. More Trouble Minds on the way,
don't go anywhere. Welcome back to Trouble Minds, all the places,

(01:51:55):
all the things. And I'm telling this tonight deliving a
Colt symposium. Choose your path. Well, we've chosen our paths,
and our paths have led us to the very bottom
of a haunted prison. What comes next? Well, the investigation
has led us to the point where we're hearing EVPs. Conceptually, again,

(01:52:16):
this is all fake theater for your mind, but we're
hearing EVPs of one Marcus. What is this guy's name?
When we pulled out the prophet Marcus Holt nicknamed the
prophet who claimed to speak in tongues and predicted a
plague would sweep the prison. Holt spent eighty seven days
in solitary before dying under mysterious circumstances in eighty seven

(01:52:38):
days in the whole broke his psyche. It seems as
if we found his consciousness. It seems as if the
investigation led us to this spot and he brought us
down there. Now for what reason? That becomes the question,
welcome back, a gentleman. We got Mats out here and James,
anything to add to any of that, because we're going
to do part two of this and rewind and do

(01:52:59):
b We're about to throw matts ou in in the
hole here and close the door or not because he's like, hey, no,
you guys didn't say close the door. But welcome back.
Thanks again for being part of this and caring about
the ideas and being the glue of the show. James,
and thank you Matt sol for being a good sport
about all this. James, anything to add and then Matts
all as well, and then we'll do we'll do part

(01:53:19):
two and throw matts.

Speaker 2 (01:53:20):
All in well.

Speaker 6 (01:53:22):
I would say that in a lot of cases, the
choice of going which way to go. There would be
a large enough group where you could break into groups
of two and send a group of two or three
to investigate each area. So in other words, they wouldn't
be because because this is a story, there's multiple choices,

(01:53:43):
or there could have been multiple choices about where to go,
but in an actual investigation, you would have people covering
the entire place, So people will go in all the
directions and maybe have experiences and maybe not. So I
just wanted to point that out there us again, unless
it's only pre pure the people that are doing it
to begin with. In that case, then maybe you would

(01:54:06):
spend a couple of nights or at least an hour
or two in each part of the location yourselves.

Speaker 3 (01:54:12):
Yeah, I mean with the technology becoming cheaper and cheaper
and all the rest of this stuff, and even you know,
flear shut out Fred and the chat earlier said you know,
bring the flair in there, like like actually, like look
at this type of stuff, maybe infrared and different different
ways to consider this is that's uh, set this that
wire this thing up for like a twenty four to
seven feed. But you know what happens when they do that.
They said they did that with Skinwalker ranch, and it

(01:54:33):
just you know, the feed was like nothing happening on
the feed, like a you know, a twenty four hour camera,
a static camera. But I mean, really, the dud dudes,
a multimillionaire, like they could have done better than that.
I'm just saying, not not to pick on anybody directly,
but just saying that, Look, if I can set up
a makeshift surveillance state in my own house, which I've

(01:54:55):
only done recently because there's weird stuff happening out front,
but like if I could do it on the cheap,
then certainly somebody with money could make that stuff happen
with infrared and all kinds of wild stuff. So yeah, yeah, great, great,
great stuff. As always, there, James, anything matts out before
we before we throw you in any any final lot
of thoughts.

Speaker 4 (01:55:17):
Yeah, I was thinking of what you just said and
breaking up the groups, which was options in the in
the experience, in the Choose Your Adventure. But it kind
of reminds me of us a joke, you know, Okay,
you guys go with Shaggy and Fred and Scooby, and
I'll go with Samma and Daphne.

Speaker 3 (01:55:37):
Yeah, exactly, exactly, exactly exactly Okay, so here we go.
So we have an option before we throw matts all
into by the way, so the major evidence collected to
this to this spot is this. So multiple real time
and recorded e vps, including responses to direct questions, documented
temperature and versions, and a recorded cold spot, EMS spikes

(01:55:58):
above nine milligss with noctrical source, anomalost darkening, and after
image flicker effects inside Cell seven. All this again as
the evidence we've collected, right, tangible feelings of sadness, longing,
and abandonment shared across the team. Obviously, as a Dawn
said in the chat as well, I'm starting to feel
bad for this ghost. Okay, right exactly, but here we go.
Now this is pretty cool because I told it we're

(01:56:19):
going to do both, and it said conclusion, rewind point,
You've achieved safe, methodical contact with Marcus's spirit, gathered critical evidence,
and encountered no breach of your protective safeguards. The entity
is not hostile, but profoundly stuck in a loop of
abandonment and isolation. The next escalation said one investigator in
alone for ten minutes to attempt direct spirit contact from

(01:56:40):
within Cell seven itself, Will you attempt the most dangerous
step or release Marcus from the doorway before risking a
solo sit in your move. How do we do it?

Speaker 6 (01:56:50):
Guys?

Speaker 3 (01:56:50):
How do we do it? Can we just throw the
caution to the wind and Matt's all volunteered, So hey,
you get what you asked for.

Speaker 10 (01:56:57):
Ye send me in and I'll investigate inside the cell.

Speaker 3 (01:57:04):
Perfect, okay, all right, all right, yeah, votes, votes, go
ahead as I queue this next one up and anything
anything on that james you into this? You want to
go in with him?

Speaker 7 (01:57:18):
I go in.

Speaker 6 (01:57:19):
I will go in. It's the one thing about all
this when it comes to all these paranormal things, all
these topics, is that compared when you compare the amount
of experiences people have overall, most experiences, and this is
in large and large numbers here, most experiences are usually
not going to be negative. Even if if it's sprightening,

(01:57:43):
it may not be meant as negative. So I would
try it. But of course you never know either, so
you have to be prepared for both possibilities.

Speaker 3 (01:57:54):
Exactly right. Yeah, I don't know when it comes to
this stuff. Look, I like to think I'm a man
of science, but also no, hell no, I'm not going
in there. Are you kidding me? I'm not going.

Speaker 2 (01:58:06):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (01:58:07):
And the crazy part about it is and and this
is this is why I think the the haunting type
stuff is is very compelling in a lot of ways.
It's because even if let's say, let's say there was
no entity right there, there wasn't or whatever, for whatever reason,
our psyche still can fool us to think there is

(01:58:28):
right and and so that like we have that the
shadow and all the things Carl Jung always talked about,
but also beyond that, that that sort of spook that
that brought us here like that, you know, we we've
probably all seen something a little strange, or you know,
beyond that, maybe even seeing a lot of things a
lot that they have been very strange. But it's it's weird.
It's it's weird. This this whole thing is let's call it, uh,

(01:58:51):
let's let's call it fantastic. Fantastic. I'm gonna do the
thing here and uh here, here's here's my final prompt.
I said, uh, let's just a guy in for maximum danger.
Let's see what Marcus does to him. There we go,
There we go. Of course, all all the blessings and
all the things, because we're just joking around here. But sorry,

(01:59:12):
if you're taking it the wrong way, I'm not.

Speaker 5 (01:59:13):
I'm not.

Speaker 3 (01:59:14):
I'm not actually saying that it's just for maximum novelty here.
But but yeah, so look at as usual. Like I said,
it's important to kind of I don't know, press press
and look at technology in different ways and do well
do novel things, and so, like I said, if you're
here and you're like, what the hell is this crap? Cool,
you got us, You've caught us on a weird night,

(01:59:37):
but this might also become one of the greatest things ever. Okay,
So here it is. I got the whole blurb. Any
any anything to add, gentlemen, I'm about to read the blurb.

Speaker 10 (01:59:46):
But choose your own adventure.

Speaker 3 (01:59:49):
Choose your own adventure. Here we go. So okay, and
this is called the lockdown protocol. This is the entire
sort of narrative. Anyway, So your team backs away, keeping
audio and video quarters running at the doorway. The chosen investigator,
let's call him Matt, prepares headlamp, EMF meter, temperature gauge,

(02:00:10):
personal recorder, and backup radio. He repeats the protection prayer
under his breath art pounding, and crosses into the darkness
of Cell seven. The metal door creaks as it opens wider.
The cell absorbs the light. Matthew's headlamp only reveals scraped concrete,

(02:00:31):
the slender shadow of a cot, and tally marks scratched
deep into all four walls. The cell is bitter cold,
twenty two degrees fahrenheit. Matthew's breath fogs immediately and lingers
before fading. Matthew sits cross legged in the center of
Cell seven, careful not to block the small gap in

(02:00:53):
the door, as EMF meter reads eleven point four way
above baseline the highest tonight. Breathing steady, Matthew asks Marcus,
I'm here. You're not alone. Can you see me? A
cold wave passes through him. On the recorder, A whisper

(02:01:15):
overlays Matthew's own voice. It's so dark. The temperature drops
further now seventeen degrees. Alex Uh, sorry, Matthews, it put
alex in. Matthew's gloved hands shake, not just from cold,
but from sudden, oppressive sadness. Shadows crawl along the corner,

(02:01:37):
though there's no light to cast them. Why can't you leave, Marcus?
Matthew asks a response, this time a pressure on Matthew's
chest like hands, gently but insistently pushing him downward. For
a moment. Matthew's vision blurs, then clears. The recorder picks up.

(02:01:59):
It was sudden, never enough left behind. Matthew's head lamped
dims this this minute five to seven, the EMF meter
climbs to fifteen, then seventeen. Whispers began to multiply, as
if Marcus has become fragmented. Several voices, older, younger, wary, pleading,

(02:02:20):
all interlace dark, cold, cold, too many forgotten numbers days. Matthew, dazed,
starts to feel the urge to count aloud. He begins softly, one, two, three,
The compulsion grows four, five, six, the temperature at twelve

(02:02:43):
degrees fahrenheit. Minute eight to nine. Suddenly Matthew feels utterly alone,
cut off from all awareness of the team. Even the
radio cannot break through. Audio pickups outside register a harmonic
hum like voices reverberating off the walls at the edge
of her. The headlamp sputters, plunging Alex into near total dark.

(02:03:06):
Alex Matthew into near total darkness. Only the glowing led
of his AMF meter visible Matthew's voice weakens, shivering, Marcus,
why are you still here? A chilling, sorrowful answer as
is spoken right into Matthew's ear. You're me, I'm you.

(02:03:27):
Days don't end. Stay with me a while. Matthew's body
temperture begins to drop, feeling lethargic, heavy limbs. Minute ten,
the team outside Here's Matthew begin to whisper over and
over eighty four, eighty five, eighty six in silence. A

(02:03:54):
shockwave of cold suddenly radiates outward. The EMF meter spikes
to twenty three, the temperature outside the cell drum to
five degrees. Instantly, Matthew's HEADLMP flickers back on. He blinks, dazed, gasps,
and suddenly regains awareness of who and where he is.
He stumbles to the cell door.

Speaker 2 (02:04:15):
Right.

Speaker 3 (02:04:16):
I need to get out now. The team rushes forward,
pulling him past the threshold and into the warmth of
the corridor. Within seconds, the cold and the cell dissipates.
Ratings return to normal, and the dark presence lessons. There's
more here but anything, gentlemen, very brave Matt's l very brave.

Speaker 6 (02:04:41):
I mean, at least it wasn't like a true horror
movie where you know he was not there anymore, or
you know he was but not quite alive again. At
least that thing happened.

Speaker 11 (02:04:56):
Dude, that was pretty cool.

Speaker 3 (02:04:59):
Yeah, I like that. Yeah, I kind of agree. There's more,
there's more, but uh so, so yeah, it seems as if,
like and Derek and Ice Docker called this out too.
He's all, he's all we got we got to get
a guy in there because he's gonna Marcus is going
to possess, right, He's going to move into the vessel
or whatever whatever Derek was saying. And I mean, so
there's a spoiler alert, there's a happy ending here. So

(02:05:21):
just I mean, nothing happens to our good friend matsl
So just just so everybody knows on tenter hooks, Matt's
all You're going to be just fine. Yeah. So that's
good stuff, good stuff. Thank you again for being a
good sport, volunteering and the role playing, all the rest
of it. I appreciate you very much. Welcome to stay.
We got about ten minutes left, but there is a
sort of a an end of this, so if you

(02:05:43):
want to stick around for that, I'll read it. But
uh yeah, I mean, this is the type of stuff.
That's like I said, the tropes of old, they do,
they do circle back, they do become all manner of
things that are, like I said, worthy of discussion or not.
That's up to you. That's not up to me. I
talk about things that interest me, but I'm not the
arbiter of truth, as I always say. So it's a

(02:06:05):
it is one of those things, right. But it certainly
seems as if these archetypes, the tropes of old, the
you know, the hero's journey, all the stuff we always
talk about, it plays in this field. It plays in
the paranormal space, because these are stories we tell over
and over and over again. Anything on that, James, and
I'll get to the rest of the sort of after

(02:06:26):
effects of this.

Speaker 6 (02:06:28):
Well, if you noticed there the headlamp and the other devices,
they did seem to be affected at one point by
the presidence that was there. And again that is it
is really common, and not just in in cases where
it's it's a negative experience or negative consciousness. It's just

(02:06:51):
that in some cases to either to cause activity or
just I don't know if energy is needed to stay
around into the place, because again I don't know how
many of this works. But batteries will be drained, and
sometimes things will happen, paranormal activity will happen. Other times
it won't. And there's just this draining and that is

(02:07:12):
the activity itself. And it can be of one device,
it can be of many devices. It just really it
varies from from time to time.

Speaker 3 (02:07:24):
Yeah, one hundred percent. And that's and that's the thing that,
like I said, if I if I go like, do
a thing, bring fresh batteries, and then like all the
stuff dies, I'm like, nope, I'm out of here. I'm
not hanging around. Look like I said, Hey, look like
I look like a fierce warrior, but I have a
big chicken. I'm a man of science. But also he'll no,
I ain't doing that either, because, like I said, the
psychological effect is real. It's very real. And so that

(02:07:47):
type of stuff, right like did you get a you know,
a hitchhiker or whatever, like this is the type of
stuff that whether any of that stuff is like I said,
let's go full materialist conceptually and just say none of
the stuff is real whatsoever, It's all in our minds. Well,
even so you can gain an attachment that way, like
through the through these you know, psychological aspects of all

(02:08:08):
of this. So to me, like I said, it's it's
incredibly important to recognize that maybe there's something happening here.
And I agree with what Mattzel said to you, by
the way, what's your take on that, James? He said
that ghosts are probably something that we never dreamed of,
like something like way different than our take on what
they are. And I agree. I think that there's a
lot of sort of uh, fracturing of and you know,

(02:08:30):
bad definitions of these sorts of things. What's your take
on that? And then we'll wrap this up and give
you the the final tenterhook and give you what happened
to Mattzell.

Speaker 6 (02:08:40):
Yeah, I agree with that. I think that there's many
different things that can cause what appears to be ghosts
or spirits uh. And I think that it's it's like
so much there's I don't think there is one answer
to anything. I think there's all kinds of answers. Yes,
there's residual energy. Yes, there may be conscious spirits souls

(02:09:03):
still in locations, either because they are trapped and again
maybe they're tapped because they think they're trapped or they
feel they're trapped or they are and we have no
idea how or why, or they're not trapped and they're
just in a location because they have messages and or
they just love the location and that is their version
of an afterlife. But then you have time anomalies where

(02:09:25):
people see not spirits but other people, and other times
that appear to be ghostly, transparent, translucent, all these things.
So I think there's a lot of possibilities, and one
of them is definitely something that we don't even know
how to label yet for sure.

Speaker 3 (02:09:41):
Yeah, And that's one of the thing that gets me
is that the label part. We've talked about a lot,
but yeah, I don't just recognize that maybe we don't
know how to label these things and think about what
that looks like over the course of centuries or millennia. Okay,
so the aftermath here you go, So Mattzel, Matthew is
shaken but unharmed thanks to the protective ritual. Interesting, it

(02:10:03):
kind of draws along with what you did and kind
of keeps it as part of the narrative.

Speaker 2 (02:10:07):
Right.

Speaker 3 (02:10:09):
He remembers the entire ordeal, forced counting, overwhelming loneliness, the
insistent cold, the fractured layer, voices of Marcus pleading not
to be forgotten, desperate for presence and the sensation of
being invited to stay, not taken by force. EVP and
video evidence confirm overlapping whispers, EMF spikes, and the time

(02:10:32):
temperature plunges synced with Matthew's experiences. This is a textbook
encounter with a consciousness trapped by suffering and repetition. Marcus's spirit,
broken by eighty seven days of deprivation, seeks not to harm,
but simply not to be alone. The urge to count
the compulsion to stay hall marks of a looping, trauma

(02:10:54):
bound intelligence rather than malicious intent. A ritual held The
team guided Matthew out in time, but had he stayed
or returned, deeper entanglement and a risk of psychic confusion
or obsession could have occurred. The next steps, of course

(02:11:15):
for the investigation, as any investigations, you review the footage,
check out the audio, and the video. We've gathered some
of the most compelling and intelligent haunting evidence to dates
and decide did we release this to the public or
do we sell it off to the Tallamasca to be
hidden in the dark archives, to never be seen again.

(02:11:37):
I just added that part.

Speaker 6 (02:11:40):
There you go.

Speaker 3 (02:11:40):
You faced maximum supernatural danger and survived, and Mattzell's brave
soul remains intact. Your team proved both bold and wise,
and there you go. Like I said, I don't know,
this has been a lot of fun for me. I
hope it has been fun for you. And like I said,
I know, some disaster, some weird So I figured out
how to do this properly, so I won't bore you

(02:12:03):
with the details, but I can we can do this.
We can do this, And like I said, if you're
into these ideas, I'm just trying to look into different
show formats and make it not so repetitive monotonous. So,
you know, leaning on you guys as heavily as I do,
and you know, feeling like sometimes you know, you run

(02:12:24):
out of things to say. So so I'm gonna keep
thinking about different formats in the ways we can do this.
If you guys have ideas, I'm open to them. I
want to, like I said, I want us to be
like not the look at best is subjective, like it's
already the best to me, But I want us to
be the most interesting. I want us to be the
most sort of cutting edge I want us to be

(02:12:45):
recognizing that the old ways are simply that, and the
new ways could be more amazing than we ever dreamed.
All we have to do is put the elbow grease
into the creativity aspect and that you know, lean into
some of the systems that make things way easy here.
So yeah, yeah, final thoughts, gentlemen, and let's GTFO shout
out to our brave friend Matzel who came out unscathed.

Speaker 6 (02:13:10):
Yeah, that was amazing and I like that it had
a decent ending, happy ending overall for at least from
hats held, not so much for Marcus. But that is
part of what all this is about. It's not it
should not be taken as fun and games. It's understandable
to want to have experiences and to try to look

(02:13:32):
into these things. But in the end, I think we
should keep in mind the possibility that we are dealing
with other people or other consciousness of people, and that
should be respected. And you know, if we can help,
then we should do it. But also we have to
be aware that we may not always be able to
help in some cases as well, especially in hauntings, so

(02:13:54):
we don't know what's going on for sure.

Speaker 3 (02:13:57):
Yeah, and as part of this too, like it kind
of brings into the effect of you know, psychic archaeology
like that. The question with archaeology is do we have
the capacity, like the moral capacity to dig up ancestors
because we want to learn about them? Right? I mean,
these are still people, These are still you know, rest

(02:14:21):
in peace. And in the same instance, in terms of
psychological or metaphysical archaeology, should we as always right, it's
it's some of those questions. Maybe maybe these energies are
best left alone. And this is this is a question
that probably will never be answered. It's obviously rhetorical to

(02:14:43):
the max, but it is something we should think about
and consider when these these ideas come up, you know,
and again think about you know, Poltrygeist again it's a
TV show or sorry, an old movie from the late
late seventies early eighties, but one wasn't nineteen eighty two
or something eighty three. But they had an Indian burial
ground that they built houses on and disturbed these the

(02:15:06):
eternal rest of these ancestors, ancestral spirits. So I don't know.
I think the question is is a good one and
something we should think about when it comes to these
ideas is how much medaling should we do and how
much should we leave well on a f alone, but
so definitely definitely sits heavily on my mind. And again

(02:15:28):
mixed feelings on Indiana Jones being the grave robber that
he is. Sadly enough, Matt Sell anything to add, Brave
Mattzell who went into the tank for us, I appreciate
you stayed up late with us. Shout out to Lazy
if you're done, that's cool. I just want to give
you a chance to say good night and yeah, Brave
Matt Cell's like, send me in guys, umber men.

Speaker 10 (02:15:48):
Oh yeah, thanks, guys. That was fun.

Speaker 4 (02:15:51):
I'm just joking around and have fun with the guys
while playing. So I feel this is something that it
gives intrigued, it makes it interactive for people that like
this kind of stuff. So maybe either adding a show
or doing like a Thursday Night I'm choosing on adventure
and then do like a sci fi one, a pirate one, right,

(02:16:16):
different different themes.

Speaker 3 (02:16:18):
Yeah, I mean, obviously we did this one because of
you know, the date, Halloween, all Hellos Eve and all
that stuff coming. But you're right, and that's the way
I wanted to do it. The initial choice would have been,
you know, three different narratives, but I just went out
of time as usual. Look, I got this, I got
I get swamped at work because I'm the guy that
does the work, right, and so when you're the guy
that does the work, they're like, i'll give it to Mike,

(02:16:39):
you'll do it. But then I'm like like, like I'm
I'm getting later and later and trying, you know, getting
home later and later, and it's encroaching on what like
the stuff that I want to do here. So like
I said, forgive me, I'm human and I'm you know,
leaned on heavily at work because you know, I feel
like Cinderella with with not with a dress, but with
the shorts and shoes. But anyway, Yeah, you're the best brother.

(02:17:01):
I appreciate you staying up play with us, and thanks
for being a good sport and all the rest of it.
And always a pleasure my man.

Speaker 10 (02:17:08):
Yeah, I was gonna say, maybe get together and put
aside a bunch and brain some ideas it be it'd
be a thing to do.

Speaker 3 (02:17:18):
Yeah, all right, cool, So plus one, we like it.
Thank you. I did too. I had a good time
even with all the chaos and the tech stuff happening
and whatever. I liked it too, and so hopefully everybody
out there did as well. Like I said, I'll fix
it and post and so we'll kind of seem it
together so it doesn't seem so ridiculous that we started over.
But yeah, I think it was super cool. And thanks

(02:17:39):
again for sharing your experiences with the Zach Magan stuff
and just all the rest of the stuff that you
do know and understand and sharing a wisdom with the world,
which of course you can find by the way, guys
Temple of the ol dot com. Go follow Mattzel affectionately mattzl.
It's Matthew in California. Good friend for a long time,
and go go check out his podcast, Go check out
the things he's working on. Like I said, let's support

(02:17:59):
our friends. That that's what this is all about. That's
what it's always been about. And if you if you
don't believe me, go back to the very beginning. This
was a call in show to meet people to talk
about wild ideas. By dark of night, I could I
could do twenty minutes by myself and then dip. I
don't Okay, this is about supporting our friends. The amazing
people we meet is part of it. That's all. You're

(02:18:21):
the best temple of the l dot com co. Check
out his podcast Trouble Mind Suffering for sized friends. Follow
MATTSL have a great night. Thanks for dipping in with us.

Speaker 10 (02:18:29):
Thanks guys, good night.

Speaker 3 (02:18:30):
You were the best. You know what me love him
Matthew in California. Yeah, Formatt James. When when it's all
said and done, Yeah your nay?

Speaker 6 (02:18:41):
I think yay. At least, like I said, maybe you know,
like once a week or once a really week. I
think especially maybe for nights when you are sort of rushed,
you know. I think, like Mattologist said, they have something
set aside where you can we can do this kind
of a show and having that so much work for

(02:19:01):
you if you were out a time, I think that
might be a good plan for that too. And thank
you for having letting me sit in as always. I
don't know if I'll be as helpful on the the
other themed uh choose your inn adventures later on, but
it was fun to be part of sort of filling
in some of the information and possibilities on this one.

Speaker 3 (02:19:22):
Yeah. Absolutely glad to have you. We could mix in
some space ghosts, so don't worry. Well, well, we'll tailor
to the audience here and to the expertise. I mean,
for crying out loud, we have a paranormal expert, so
why would we not do ghosts. We'll mix them in. Well,
we'll make it fun and interesting in a lot of
different ways. And time travel is a fun one, and
the space stuff's a fun one. And maybe cyberpunk, I

(02:19:43):
don't know. There's there's tons of stuff. What's steampunk. I
don't know. Lots of lots of things here. And if
you guys are into this format, like I said, and
you want to sit in like James does, and you're
it's more of your your thing, let me know and
we can set something up as usual. The whole point
of this, as I keep saying, is to get together
to each other and talk to people and be cool
and chill. Then just be cool and chill. That's very simple. James,

(02:20:06):
you were the best. Go follow him, please Salcito Paranormal
dot com, s A L S I d O, Paranormal
dot com, Troubleminds dot org, Fort Side Friends, Go give
him a follow, Go buy his books, Go check out
his podcast, his radio show. Follow his discord. You can
sit in and listen when he's recording these shows live.
But I'm telling you nine hundred shows coming up, right, James,

(02:20:27):
when is that? Did it already happen?

Speaker 6 (02:20:30):
Nine hundred as of November second is right on the
AA seria.

Speaker 3 (02:20:34):
Now, nine hundred shows as of November two. Right, Yeah,
he's gonna pass Troubled Minds. We're like eleven hundred or something.
So it's a paranormal catalog, as I keep saying, like
probably the largest in the world for true stories. Again,
mileage may vary, but people telling their tales, their experiences

(02:20:58):
is being chronicled by none other than our paranormal expert,
James Selcido. I give them following all the places go
listen to the podcast, go hang out in his discord.
All the links will be in the description down below
as usual, Troubleminds dot rup towards side friends. We're just
going to uptick to his website. You're the best man.
I appreciate you very much the glue of the show.
Like I said, it's it's more difficult for me if

(02:21:19):
James is not here, like way difficult because I have
to I'm putting things into the thing and you know, so, yeah,
we need to have a wingman for this type of show.
So if you guys are into it, let me know.
Always a pleasure, James, you are the best. We'll talk
to soon and you also have a great night. Thank you,
no thank you as we finished show our friends. That's

(02:21:42):
what it's about. Spread the word. Let people know conversation
is happening, but we're not going to tell you to
vote for like I avoid politics like the plague, just
because it's it's so pervasive on our on our our
souls these days that I still I don't don't want
to contribute to the division and the hatred and all
the stuff. Let's talk about old ideas and be creative together.

(02:22:02):
And that's what Troubled Minds is. That's what it's become.
It's what we should aspire to. In my opinion, otherwise
I wouldn't be here. If you want to help us directly,
you know what to do. Not just spread the word.
Troublefans dot com. You can find the hats, the shirts,
all this stuff. If you want to support us directly,
you could buy ad space on the shows and sponsored
the show.

Speaker 10 (02:22:21):
That way.

Speaker 3 (02:22:22):
There's all kinds of things you can do to help,
and again remember old school word of mouth beats the
algorithms every day. Just let people know something's happening out there.
That's not the same crap you hear every single day.
That's that. What's up, Carla and Hanny? I see you
over there?

Speaker 6 (02:22:37):
What's up?

Speaker 3 (02:22:37):
I missed anybody? Sorry about that. CAWF we got. I
didn't really do shout outs today, Sorry about that. I
see all the chat. Thanks for hanging out, stay uply
with us, bearing with the tech issues. And that's that.
As we finish, you know, the drill, we'll be back
on Sunday night, God willing, and I'm going to do
some work on this Nixon, some other ideas and some

(02:23:00):
new technology that maybe we can have a real time
vote counter up on the stream or something. I mean,
that would be super cool. You guys like click the
thing and it's like being being being being auto counsel.
I mean, all that technology is there. So I don't
know if you got you've got ideas to be creative
and be part of this, then you don't want to
find me. Shout out, Bailey Monochrome, how you doing? Welcome?

(02:23:21):
All right? As we finish that goes exactly like this.
Be sure, be strong, be true. Thank you for listening
from our trouble minds to yours. Have a great night.
