The host introduces “Truth and Beauty” as a podcast about discerning truth and being fully honest about “New Age” ideas, then shares a revelation from 12 years ago: Christianity should focus on living like Jesus rather than believing in him, because Jesus lived without fear. The argument is that God is pure love and did not create a world of suffering; instead, humans as children of God created a temporary illusion of separation through the mind, agreeing to be here but experiencing a “great forgetting.” Jesus is described as enlightened, teaching that all people are divine and one, and that seeing through the illusion changes experience. The host says perceived negativity in others is a projection of disliked parts of ourselves, making forgiveness the path to freedom, and claims all negative emotions stem from fear, which is unnecessary though feelings should be allowed. “Christ consciousness” within everyone is activated by awakening, not waiting for a literal second coming, citing A Course in Miracles.

(00:10):
It's been said that the greatestchallenge of our time is
discerning fact from fiction, reality from fantasy, truth from
illusion.
I couldn't agree more.
Times are changing, the world ischanging, and I know that you
have felt it too.
Now more than ever, we need anew way of seeing ourselves and

(00:34):
each other.
This can absolutely happen whenwe understand the truth of who
we are.
When truth is recognized, questions get answered,
direction gets clarified, andall of that negative emotion
evaporates into peace.
Welcome to Truth and Beauty.

(00:55):
Because where truth isunderstood, beauty is revealed.
Hello, and welcome to Truth andBeauty A couple weeks ago, I
shared that part of mymotivation for resuming this
podcast was the desire to befully honest, to not edit out

(01:18):
ideas that could be interpretedas too out there or even crazy.
The last time I was at abookstore, I noticed that my
favorite spiritual authors arestill found under the,
quote-unquote,"New Age" section.
So I'm not going to mislead youor myself.
Today's topic is definitely NewAge in the best sense of the

(01:40):
word.
Although I definitely think it'stime for the New Age label to be
reevaluated.
Maybe what I share will besurprising, but at the same time
will deeply resonate.
Or perhaps it won't besurprising at all, and is
something that you have alreadyrecognized.
And for some, there might bedefensiveness or resistance or

(02:02):
even anger because what I sharetoday may seem to invalidate or
defy ideas or lessons you weretaught as a child that have
become part of your foundationalbelief system.
So if that is you, dearlistener, I encourage you to
hear me out and merely consider.

(02:22):
Remember, there is nothing wrongwith asking questions or
reevaluating what we believe.
Having an open mind is apositive and healthy state no
matter the topic.
Because when we hold too tightlyto what we think we know, that's
when we lose our power.
But if this message is not foryou, that's okay too.

(02:46):
What I want to share today is anintegral part of what I've come
to understand and is connectedto pretty much everything else
this podcast is about.
So let's jump in.
A number of years ago, justabout 12 years to be exact, I
had an unexpected revelation.
I wasn't meditating or inchurch.

(03:08):
I was at Jersey's, a local pizzaplace we often took our two boys
on Friday or Saturday night.
Sitting in that booth as myhusband and kids were watching
some baseball or basketball gameon one of the endless TVs, I had
an unexpected but very clearthought, which I know verbatim
because I immediately wrote itin the notes section of my

(03:31):
phone.
Which, by the way, due to thedate stamp, is also why I know
it was almost exactly 12 yearsago.
Anyway, this is what I wrote inmy phone:"Christianity is
missing the point.
Focus should be living likeJesus, not believing in Him.

(03:53):
Jesus knew that there was noneed to fear, even if in the
worst of life's trauma andatrocity.
Pain is temporary.
He lived without fear." When Ilook at those words today, I'm
kind of floored not only bytheir accuracy, but how pithy

(04:14):
they are.
Twelve years later, I fullyunderstand that thought and on a
much deeper level than I didthat day at the restaurant.
The words in my phone are nolonger an idea, but an awareness
I have internalized that hasdramatically shifted my entire
perspective of myself, of otherpeople, of the world, of what

(04:40):
matters and what doesn't.
So today, I want to share what Ibelieve that Jesus stood for and
what he was trying to teach.
And spoiler alert, it's probablynot what you learned in church.
Also, to be transparent, this isa gigantic topic that could and

(05:03):
does encompass entire books.
So for this short littlediscussion, I will only be
hitting the highlights.
But if these ideas resonate withyou, I encourage you to do
further exploring and researchSo the first idea we need to
tackle is the world as a whole.

(05:23):
Many of us were taught that Godcreated the world and then
created us to live here.
I mean, it feels true, right?
But at the same time, has thereever been a part of you, even a
small part, that wondered why?
The one thing that I know to betrue over everything else, the

(05:45):
only thing about God that at theend of the day truly matters, is
that God is love, pure love.
So why would a loving God createa world full of hate, pain, and
struggle?
If he loved us so much, whywould he throw us, ill-equipped,

(06:08):
into a world that despite somearguably good things, we would
basically suffer throughout ourshort life and then die?
Because, well, he didn't Okay,so then how did the world get
created?
Here's where it gets a littlecrazy.
Stay with me.

(06:29):
We are part of God, correct?
Even in Sunday school, we learnthat we are the children of God.
Children implies being part of,coming from the source, having
the same genetic material, thesame DNA.
So if you can appreciate that atleast in some small way we are
part of God, Then it isn't toomuch of a stretch to accept that

(06:51):
the world we see and participatein was created not by God, but
by us as His children.
We chose to separate and trythings our own way, to exist on
our own, to forge our own path,to stand on our own two feet, if
you will.
But, and this is a key piece, wechose to separate in our mind,

(07:15):
because the truth is there is noseparation from God.
We never left Him and nevercould, even if we wanted to.
So in our very powerful minds,we are part of God, remember.
We created an existence that, despite what feels like a lot of
evidence to the contrary, is inreality only a temporary

(07:38):
illusion.
This concept, and yes, I know itis a big one, is absolutely
fundamental.
The world seems real because ourperception feeds our belief
system, which then circles backto feed our perception.
We conclude the world to bereal, to be finite based on our

(07:58):
experience.
Our experience is understoodthrough the data we have
accumulated from our fivesenses: what we see, hear,
taste, smell, and touch.
Using all of this information ordata, we develop a belief system
about where we are and who weare.

(08:18):
And of course, our parents andtheir parents and grandparents,
generation before generation, followed the same pattern, using
their senses to understand theworld while passing down the
same belief system, which pavesthe way for us as the newest
kids on the block to easilyaccept what seems to be true

(08:40):
Remember the movie The Matrix, where Earth is a simulation
controlled by other beings fortheir own amusement?
An amazing example of artimitating life.
Except that instead of someoneelse controlling us, we have
free will.
We create our experience.
And to go even further, anybodywalking around on this planet

(09:01):
has 100% agreed to be here.
No one was forced.
But the zinger is, the detailthat changes everything, is the
great forgetting.
We absolutely agreed to be here.
But once we actually got here, after being born into our human
body, we forgot our decision, forgot where we came from, and

(09:23):
often forget our purposeentirely.
So now we have a seemingly worldfull of people who are really
all part of God, all divine, andall one, who have completely
forgotten that fact.
And everyone is walking aroundin separate bodies, experiencing
very challenging circumstances.

(09:44):
Yeah, you know where this isgoing.
And instead of working together, although that of course does
happen, they judge and blameeach other for the insanity that
is life.
So let's talk about Jesus.
Jesus was enlightened.
In other words, he knew that hewas not just a body or a

(10:05):
personality walking around.
He remembered where he camefrom.
Because he remembered, he wasable to see through the illusion
of the physical world.
I mean, there is no doubt Jesuswas here for a purpose.
Well, actually, we all are, butclearly Jesus had a big mission,
and he fulfilled it.
But unfortunately, although nota huge surprise, much of what he

(10:29):
taught to the people whofollowed him or heard him speak
when he was alive ended up beingdistorted and rewritten in a way
that made him appear to be asavior, next in line to God, and
most definitely way better thanthe rest of us But when Jesus
referred to himself as the Sonof God, he didn't just mean

(10:52):
himself.
He meant all of us.
He was trying to wake us up, toget us to remember who we were.
His teachings and the way helived were an amazing attempt to
share what he knew.
Jesus knew that all human beingsare part of God.
All human beings, yes, even thebad ones, are part of God.

(11:17):
That we are all divine, holy, and one, and that we are not
just bodies walking around doingour best to figure out this
crazy world The reason Jesusworked so hard to try to get us
to understand is because knowingthe truth of who we are
transforms what we experience.

(11:39):
Our relationship with everythingthat appears to be outside of
us, problems, challenges, otherpeople, even our own bodies, is
based on an illusion and adistorted one at that.
But when we are able to seethrough the illusion, we can
experience what human life hasto offer without all of the

(12:00):
unnecessary drama.
Sounds too good to be true, doesn't it?
So here's the harder part.
Once we begin to understand andaccept who we actually are, we
must honor that truth by livingit.
Living in a body makes usbelieve that everything bad is
outside of us.

(12:21):
It appears that there are otherpeople walking around doing a
million things to annoy, frustrate, upset, and hurt us.
But, and this is another bigidea, everything we experience
as outside of us, andspecifically all the bad things,
is only a projection of theparts of ourselves that we don't

(12:43):
like.
What does this mean?
It means that because the truthis we are one, an aspect of the
whole, when we see a quality orbehavior in a family member or
friend or person on TV thatbrings up negative thoughts and
feelings, this other personsymbolizes a part of ourselves

(13:05):
that we don't like.
It's just part of the illusionwe have created.
We project the bad outward ontothe movie screen that is the
world we experience.
The person that drives you crazyis actually within you, but it
is a part of you that feels muchmore comfortable to experience
on the outside as separate.

(13:28):
I get that this is a hard ideato accept, and trust me, from my
own ego perspective, I had ahard time with this one, and
honestly, sometimes still do.
Because this truth reminds methat the people I judge as
misguided, misinformed, naive, and let's be real, stupid,

(13:49):
ignorant, foolish, hateful,that's me?
Yuck.
Yuck, but true, unfortunately.
All right.
So once you digest this weirdand unsavory idea, stop for a
minute and think.

(14:09):
If this is true, asuncomfortable as it is to
accept, doesn't it completelychange your perspective of
everything?
Instead of seeing the world ashorrible and yourself as
powerless, it would mean thatthe world at large may seem to
be bad, but really it is only anexternal representation of

(14:32):
feelings within yourself that,guess what?
You have the power to change.
We each have the power to changeour experience of life.
It starts with recognizing whowe actually are, that the world
is a temporary, albeitpurposeful illusion created in

(14:54):
our very powerful mind, and thateverything we experience outside
of us is being determined inpart by us.
Therefore, if we begin to tapinto the power we have to create
and choose differently, what weexperience will also begin to be
very different.

(15:15):
Of course, there is a catch, orwhat seems to be a catch.
In order to begin to utilize ourpower, we must change the way we
think.
Jesus saw through the illusionof badness in other people.
He didn't get stuck on it.
Instead, he approached otherpeople with love and forgiveness

(15:37):
constantly.
He embodied this, which is whyI'm sure people were so drawn to
him and actively listened towhat he had to say.
I've talked about forgivenessbefore.
Forgiveness really is the pathto freedom.
Jesus knew that the only way toescape the illusion of earthly

(15:58):
pain and struggle was throughtruth.
The truth is that we are notseparate people out for
ourselves, but that we are one.
Not all one, but quite literallyonly one.
But that is a topic for anotherday.
Our human thoughts and feelings, while natural and necessary in

(16:20):
the illusion, can easily lead usdown a path that takes us away
from our power.
Freedom lies in recognizing thatnegative thoughts and feelings,
while part of the humanexperience, are ultimately
unnecessary and misaligned withour truest self.
If we can understand where thenegative comes from, see it for

(16:42):
what it is, and then choose tomove through our lives without
attaching ourselves to it, weare on the path to freedom,
which in our crazy world meanspretty much constant forgiveness
and seeing past what appears tobe our own mistakes and the bad
behavior of those around us Whenwe forgive others, we strengthen

(17:05):
the idea, the muscle, if youwill, of truth.
Each act of forgiveness is amiracle because it reminds us
and quietly brings us closer towho we really are.
The other important piece ofthis is that when we forgive
others, we are really justforgiving ourselves, which baby

(17:28):
step by baby step transforms ourself-perception, reminding us of
our divinity and the love thatis who we are.
All right, one more quick idea.
I know, none of these ideas arequick, obviously, but let's
touch on fear.
All negative thoughts andfeelings are generated by fear,

(17:50):
no exceptions.
In fact, I challenge you to peelback the layers of the emotional
onion the next time you noticeanger with someone or something.
If you go far enough, and if youare fully honest with yourself,
you will find some form of fear.
I guarantee it.
Why should we bother to look forfear?

(18:11):
Because fear is the greatnegative motivator.
Yet fear, in reality, isabsolutely unnecessary.
We are of God.
We are divine, holy.
The world is a temporaryexperience.
Fear itself is an illusion.
There is nothing to fear.

(18:32):
We are and will always be.
There is no death However, thisis important, please hear me.
There is no shame in feelingfear or feeling pain or
experiencing hurt or anger orany negative yucky emotion.
The point of all of this is notto use negative thoughts and

(18:56):
feelings to feel worse aboutyourself.
Our humanness comes withfeelings, negative feelings.
It's how we process what weexperience and is actually part
of the entire point of beinghere.
So it is never about denyingwhat we feel or running from it.
Unfortunately, in fact, thatdoesn't work and ends up giving

(19:17):
negative feelings even morepower.
Feel your feelings.
Allow.
Give them space.
But then at some moment in time, recognize that they are being
generated by an essentiallyunreal, temporary earthly
existence.
Consider holding less tightly tothem to breathe, to remember who

(19:42):
you are.
Choose to release and forgiveThe more we tap into the truth
that Jesus was trying to get usto see, the more we begin to
experience it, not just in ourspirit selves at some other
point in time and space, but nowin real time here on Earth as we

(20:05):
are walking around doing all thethings.
When we recognize and thenforgive our fear, as imperfect
as this process might be, ourlives change for the better.
Christ consciousness is quietlywaiting within all of us.
Christ consciousness isactivated when we wake up and

(20:26):
recognize that it is who we are.
If you are waiting for thesecond coming, the moment when
Jesus returns to Earth to saveus, stop waiting.
You don't need to wait.
I will leave you with a quotefrom A Course in Miracles.
"The second coming is merely thereturn of sense.

(20:49):
It is the awareness of reality, not its return." Don't forget
your power, dear listener.
Remember who you are.
You are light, you are love, youare holy
