We challenge the myth that intensity drives results and show how simple, repeatable systems create real change. We map three common traps, share a five-step framework, and walk through everyday tactics that reduce friction and keep you moving.

• why hype fizzles and systems endure
• the all or nothing mindset trap
• waiting to feel ready and perfectionism
• chasing outcomes instead of process
• consistency as identity, not event
• friction reduction with meal prep and cues
• scheduling workouts as non‑negotiables
• the five‑step framework for daily anchors
• tracking wins and lightweight accountability
• reviewing progress and recalibrating as life shifts
• thinking like your future self to decide today

SPEAKER_00 (00:07):
Welcome to the Unbreakable Mind and Body
Podcast.
I am your host, Tiana Gonzalez,a multi-passionate creative,
storyteller, and entrepreneurwith a fierce love for movement.
This is our space for powerfulstories and actionable
strategies to help you buildmental resilience and elevate

(00:28):
your self-care practice.
Together, we will unlock thetools that you need to create an
unbreakable mind and body.
Welcome back to the show.
I'm your host, Tiana, and I wantto ask you a question.
Think about the last time thatyou stuck with something for 90
days straight.

(00:49):
How did that make you feel?
How did it change your life?
Now I want you to really sitwith this and think about it
because consistency is going tobe the true driver of lasting
results in your life foranything you're working towards.
Not perfection, not intensity, not randomness, not going hard

(01:15):
one day and then needing to takethree, four days off in a row.
Now, you know, this podcastpublishes an episode every
Monday.
I am committed to the process.
I'm committed to puttingsomething out that could be
helpful to you or to yourfriends if you share the episode
with them.

(01:36):
And in doing this, in thepractice of keeping myself on
the hook, that I have toconsistently record episodes and
publish them and then promotethem, I have become a podcaster.
And it's through the action, through the work that I have

(01:56):
actually been able to make thathappen.
And so now I've been able toshift from having an idea and
saying, Oh, it would be reallycool if I had a podcast, to
being able to show someone alibrary or a catalog with over
60 published episodes.

(02:18):
Now, for people who have hugeplatforms, people who have a big
audience, people who are doingthings with ads and are getting
some funding and assistance, maybe 60 episodes is not a lot.
But for someone who's asolopreneur who's failed a

(02:41):
hundred times over in variousbusiness opportunities and
offerings and changed jobsseveral times in her career and
shifted even on the path, jumping from one industry to
another, to another, andcircling back again.
60 episodes of a podcast is alot.

(03:06):
And I celebrate that.
So on this episode, we're gonnadive into why most people fail,
what consistency can actuallylook like, and then I'm gonna
give you a practical frameworkso that you can build
consistency and routine intoyour lifestyle starting

(03:28):
immediately.
Now, before we dive in to thesolutions, let's first talk
about some of the challengeswe're seeing.
Why do people start off strongand then fall off?
You've seen those 12-weekchallenges, you've seen a 90-day
challenge, uh there are gyms andclubs that will do challenges

(03:52):
from time to time.
They seem to have lost a littlebit of steam and popularity.
But at one point, I remembereverywhere I looked online and
at various gyms, there was somesort of challenge always
happening.
And the real reason why peopledon't see results is not because

(04:12):
of effort, but it's this gap ofstarting and sustaining, the gap
between starting and sustaining.
And there's basically like threedifferent traps here.
So the first one is the all ornothing mindset.
You have somebody who starts offstrong, they're coming in hot,

(04:32):
they're all in.
If it's a weight loss challenge, you know, they've got the food
scale, they've got their gallonof water, they have their meal
plan, they bought new Tupperwarecontainers, they've got a new
lunchbox, they bought a new pairof sneakers, they pack their gym
bag every night and they comeout hot.
They go to the gym every day inthe beginning.

(04:56):
Then they miss one workout.
And one workout turns into two.
And then two workouts turns intothree.
And what started out as, youknow, oops, I missed one.
It turned into, I fell off.
And I have seen this a lot.

(05:17):
People say, Oh, I'll start onMonday.
Will you though?
Or people will say, Well, thisis what used to work for me.
Well, if it worked so well foryou, why did you stop doing it?
Because they came out hot andthey didn't have balance.
The second trap is waiting tofeel ready.

(05:38):
Sometimes people need to getorganized before they start,
they need to get all their ducksin a row.
It needs to be perfectlyexecuted in air quotes.
They need to feel motivated.
And this is just setting you upfor failure.

(06:00):
Because the person who startsout, even if it's not perfect,
if it's a little messy, youknow, if they make one or two
mistakes, but they're showingup, they're going to get much
further along than the personwho is waiting for perfection.
Now, the third trap is someonewho is chasing results instead

(06:22):
of creating a sustainableprocess.
I would be somebody who fellinto trap number three often,
because I used to compete inbodybuilding shows.
And so there was this cleardistinction between being on
season and off-season.
And when I was on season, everything was tight.

(06:43):
Same bedtime, same wake up time.
I had everything down to ascience, and it was like
clockwork.
I used to run a very tight ship.
And, you know, I've been told Istill run a pretty tight ship
now.
And I think that that just comesfrom having a good foundation of

(07:05):
healthy habits.
And, you know, I was a littlebit crazy back in the day.
I would make sure that all of mymeals were packed at night,
everything was in the properTupperware containers.
I had my lunch bag, I had mycondiments and utensils,
definitely several cans of dietsoda, my pack of sugar-free gum,

(07:26):
my mustard and hot sauce.
I would always have two or threesets of gym clothes in my bag
and a pair of sneakers, youknow, depending, it depends
depends on what time of lifewe're talking about here.
Because when I was a trainer, this was significantly easier.
When I worked in corporateAmerica, I would have not only

(07:47):
my laptop bag with my paperworkand my laptop in it for work,
but I also would have a six-packbag which had my food in it.
And then I also had a gym bag.
So this is what I was travelingaround with when I was in my
show prep towards the later partof my bodybuilding career.

(08:08):
But I wasn't focused onnecessarily at the time, I
wasn't focused on building thisas a sustainable lifestyle.
I was focused on the end result.
I was focused on show day.
I was focused on that bigblow-up that was going to happen
at the end of the show prepwhere I was going to show
everybody all of the hard workand dedication that I had put in

(08:31):
for months.
But then what would happenafter?
And so it would be hard to stayconsistent because I was
obviously all or nothing withthe mentality that I had.
I was really extreme with mydiscipline and habits, and I was

(08:55):
focused on an outcome and notnecessarily on who I had to
become in order to make itsustainable.
Now, this is an extreme casebecause I do not believe that
being in a show prep is is ahealthy or sustainable way of
life long term.
But thinking about the habits Ideveloped and how I was able to

(09:19):
shift eventually, not at first, into having consistency in my
life.
The truth is that consistency iskind of boring.
And that's the point.
It's the things you do dailythat are not super exciting.

(09:40):
And what I realized is that thekey to success was not about how
great I looked on show day, butit was about who I became in the
process of working my waytowards that goal.
Same workouts, same meals, samebedtime, same program, same

(10:04):
cardio routine, week after weekafter week after week.
In fact, there is a trend thatgoes around on social media
significantly where it's likewhat I eat in a day or a day in
the life of, and it's all thefood.

(10:24):
And quite frankly, I wouldn't doone of those because I eat the
same food every single day.
I literally eat the same foodevery day.
I may shift what I eat forbreakfast to what I eat for as
my second meal.
I may have a substitution hereand there, but generally
speaking, I don't need a grocerylist.

(10:45):
I know exactly what I need everyweek.
And that works for me.
The variation will come in withmaybe the flavor of seltzer that
I choose to buy or the type ofgluten-free waffles that I grab
from the freezer section.
I do eat those a couple of timesa week.
They are quick, delicious whenyou put them in the air fryer,

(11:10):
and it's like the perfect sortof crust for tuna with light
mayo.
So yeah, that's my jam.
Um, but going back toconsistency and having habits,
it's not really flashy, it's notreally fun, and it's not really
exciting.
And that is also part of thereason why so many people have a

(11:34):
hard time with it.
Because they may have thispreconceived notion or idea
that, like, oh my gosh, in orderfor me to create create this
huge change in my life, I've gotto do some catastrophic things
and really just like pull thetablecloth away and start over.

(11:54):
But that's not it.
So the other part about this isit's small actions, it's teeny
tiny little things that compoundover time and that help you to
become unstoppable.
Every workout, every meal, everybedtime, every repetition, it

(12:18):
all adds up.
And when you're on a program orin a plan and you go off plan,
it's important to acknowledgethat and to find out why.
Not only why did you go offplan, but first of all, why were
you on the plan in the firstplace, right?
What is the objective here?

(12:39):
And then maybe the requirementsthat you've established for
yourself, if you find thatyou're always going off the
plan, you need to re-evaluatethe requirements you've set up
for yourself, not the planitself, right?
The goal stays the same, but howyou get there changes.
The the destination is the same, but maybe you change vehicles,

(13:01):
maybe you choose to get on atrain instead of drive.
Do you understand?
I hope.
The other thing is you need asystem.
So it's not just willpower, it'snot just desire.
You need to have a system inplace in order to make this
successful.
Because remember, you are tryingto show up, stack up, and win.

(13:26):
And while that sounds excitingand dramatic, in the day-to-day,
it's really not.
But in order to make thathappen, it has to be something
that's doable, it has to besomething that you can sustain.
Willpower is a finite resource.
So you've got to make sure thatyour environment and your habits
and your routine are supportingyou.

(13:49):
If you're someone who works thenight shift, maybe going to the
gym early morning is not theideal for you.
Maybe it is.
If you're someone who has a hardtime sticking to the plan on the
weekends, there are options foryou.
You can create meals and havethem ready to go, packed,

(14:11):
weighed out in your portions andin the refrigerator that you can
heat up and eat.
So you don't have to actuallywaste time thinking about it or
be tempted by going off planbecause you've got your food.
You're good to go.
And your schedule, you have tothink of your workouts like it's

(14:34):
a meeting.
You put it in your calendar,it's a non-negotiable.
So if something comes up thatconflicts with it, we're not
canceling the workout.
Maybe we have to move it,depending on what it is, but
it's got to get done.
You don't cancel on your doctorappointment or your dentist.
So why are you canceling onyourself?

(14:55):
Now, you've got to find thethings that are gonna help you
reduce friction.
So for me, you've heard me justtalk about having the food ready
to go in the fridge.
There are a lot of littlenuanced things you can do that
would set you up for success.
You could set out your clothesthe night before.
You can set an alarm, you canhave the coffee ready to go, you

(15:18):
can put your sneakers by thedoor so you don't forget them.
These are just some of theexamples of ways that you can
make this process and thissystem effective and easy for
yourself.
Now let's think about thisframework.
Okay.
Framework has five steps, andit's all stuff we've talked

(15:41):
about a million times, but itbears repeating because it's so
important.
Number one, you've got to pickone thing that's gonna be your
primary goal, the thing that'snon-negotiable.
And you've got to decide whatyour daily anchor action is
going to be for that goal.
Okay.
If you have a lot of prioritiesand everything is important,

(16:02):
that means nothing is apriority.
And you're gonna run yourselfragged.
Then I want you to define whatshowing up would look like on a
hard day.
Okay.
On a great day, sure, you canget all your workouts in, you're
you're nailing your meals, youget eight hours of sleep.
But on a hard day, what if youonly have 20 minutes to do some

(16:26):
movement?
What if you're gonna have torely on some shakes because you
just didn't have time to eat?
And what if you go to bed late?
You know, what is showing up onthose days gonna look like for
you?
They both count, but you have todecide in advance how you're
gonna navigate that.
Now, number three, you've got totrack it.

(16:48):
Maybe a calendar, a whiteboard, planner, something in your phone
that reminds you that you caneither strike through or check
off on a box that says, Yep, Idid that.
I would advise maybe havesomebody that can hold you

(17:08):
accountable.
Maybe it's a coach, maybe it's afriend, maybe it's your workout
partner, but someone.
And it's not about telling themevery detail, but it's just
about getting some skin in thegame, getting you on the hook.
And then the last step in thisframework is really about
reviewing and recalibrate.

(17:30):
So, yes, you have a plan, youhave a program, you know what it
looks like to get these thingsdone on an easy day and on a
hard day.
You're tracking, you havesomebody holding you
accountable, and when you needto, you're gonna recalibrate
things.
Because maybe you're getting toa point now where you've got the

(17:52):
exercise part on lock and thefood's feeling a little bit
harder.
Or maybe your schedule changedat work.
So you need to recalibrate howyou're handling things and how
you're approaching things, ormaybe things at home have
changed.
And so your home life, thedynamic is a little bit
different.
Maybe you have somebody who canhelp you cook your food, or
maybe you don't anymore.

(18:13):
And so now you've got to figurethat out.
So there's always going to be alittle bit of flexibility or
fluidity in how you get thisdone.
So I want to know what you willcommit to right now.
I gave you a framework or ablueprint.
Now it's time to apply it.

(18:34):
Now let's go back to the topjust to refresh, make sure we're
driving this message home.
Pick your primary goal.
Define what showing up lookslike on an easy day and on a
difficult day.
Decide how you're gonna trackeverything.

(18:55):
Bake in some accountability.
Maybe it's your gym partner, maybe it's your spouse.
Figure that part out.
And then lastly, create thosecheckpoints so you can review
how you're progressing and thenrecalibrate when needed.
The difference between where youare and where you want to be is

(19:19):
in the work that you need to do.
Consistently, imperfectly, andwithout stopping.
Now remember, if you do have topause, that doesn't mean that
you failed.
Maybe it means that you need tochange how you approach things
and how you want to get to thegoal.

(19:42):
But I am encouraging you in2026, this is your time to make
shit happen for you.
Earlier this week, I was on amasterclass with an attorney,
and I bought her courseactually.
Uh, it's incredible because it'sall the legal stuff that is

(20:06):
necessary to be compliant on astate and federal level.
This is in the United States, bythe way.
And uh, this woman, she justpulled me right in.
I saw one of her advertisements.
I loved her delivery.
She pulled me in, got me to signup for the masterclass, which
was live.

(20:27):
And I really appreciated hercandor in the emails leading up
to the class.
Then I sat live on the class andI was expecting to be on there
for an hour, but I wound upstaying on for two hours.
And while on the call, while shewas answering questions, I
enrolled in the program.
It was the price point was veryreasonable, and she had a

(20:51):
payment plan that I decided toopt for.
Because it's all the shit thatyou have to do.
So why not do it now instead ofwaiting and potentially running
into an issue?
But I'm gonna tell you what thething was that got me to just
say, Oh my God, here, take mymoney.
In part of her presentation, shesaid, you need to think about

(21:17):
having things in place toprotect your business, not the
business that you may have aslike a hobby idea right now, but
the business you want to grow itinto.
And I know all of you want togrow and have something
substantial, somethingworthwhile, something that's

(21:38):
lucrative, something that'sgonna pay your bills.
And in order to do thatproperly, you need these things
to be in place.
And it reminded me so much ofthe conversations that I have
with you about making decisionsas if the things that you want
are on their way, they're takingPlace.

(22:00):
You're becoming that next level, that next version of you.
So you already know, as soon asI heard this woman say this, I
was like, fuck yeah.
She plucked my heart.
She knew exactly what to say tomotivate me and to get me to
take action.
Now, I enrolled in this programon Monday and on Tuesday, I

(22:25):
started diving in.
I'm recording this on aWednesday and I took a few more
steps.
I'm not going to binge thecontent and material, and I got
to do this methodically and in away that feels good for me.
So just like this conversation,I'm not coming in hot.
It's not an all or nothingmentality.

(22:45):
And I'm not chasing the endresult of having a Fortune 500
company because I'm not thereyet.
And I don't even know if that'swhat I want.
But I do know that I want tohave a very successful digital
products business.
And I also want to protect thepodcast.
So I gotta do a couple ofthings, and they are in the

(23:06):
works, and it is very exciting.
And it is just like what I amencouraging you to do in your
life.
So listen, I really appreciateyour time and attention.
This has been a greatconversation for us to have, and
I hope that you enjoyed it aswell.
I'd like to ask if you foundthis conversation helpful, do me

(23:30):
a favor and send this episode tosomeone that you care about,
maybe somebody who is on thefence or is trying to figure out
how to approach the nextchallenge or setting up the
goalposts for the thing thatthey want the most.
I appreciate your time andattention each and every week.
I look forward to sitting downwith you and having a little

(23:53):
chat and sharing my stories andmy sidebars and my sidebar
sidebars.

what you're working on.

to a friend.
