Atascadero is having a moment and if you’ve been paying attention, you can feel it. On this episode of Up+Adam, Adam sits down with Terrie Bannish from the City of Atascadero to talk about the 10th annual Tamale Fest and how it’s grown from a local event into one of the Central Coast’s biggest, most talked-about weekends. We’re talking tens of thousands of tamales sold in a single day, vendors coming in from all over California, and a community that continues to show up in a big way year after year.
This conversation goes beyond the event itself. Adam and Terrie get into what’s really happening in Atascadero right now. The growth, the energy, the restaurants, the events calendar that just keeps rolling. From Fiesta Friday, which gives locals a chance to actually enjoy the vendors without the massive crowds, to Saturday’s full-scale takeover with live music, folklórico dancers, tamale competitions, and yes, the pet costume contest that Adam will be right in the middle of.
