What happens when a hometown you once called "Vero Zero Beach" becomes the perfect place to build your dream business? Amanda from Level Yoga takes us on her journey from skeptical local to passionate small business owner, revealing how Vero Beach transformed before her eyes into a community of extraordinary support and connection.

Growing up in Vero Beach, Amanda never imagined returning to her roots until life brought her back through marriage to another Vero native. Now, she couldn't imagine running her yoga studio anywhere else.

Amanda shares how Vero Beach rallied around Level Yoga during difficult times. From heartfelt cards and supportive messages to unexpected financial gifts, including a generous $1,000 check from someone who told her, "you're doing something right." These gestures became lifelines during uncertainty. She keeps these tokens of appreciation to read on challenging days, finding renewed purpose in the community's belief in her work.

Looking ahead, Amanda is expanding retreat offerings beyond North Carolina and revamping her 200-hour teacher training program, which has trained new instructors and transformed participants' lives.

Have you discovered a local Vero Beach business that deserves recognition? Let them know how much they mean to you; your support might be exactly what keeps their doors open and their passion alive. Subscribe to the Vero Beach Podcast for more inspiring stories from the heart of our community.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right, well, welcome back to episode three.
Today we're going to talk aboutwe're still in the same day
when we're recording this sowe're not but this is episode
three and we're going to betalking to Amanda talking about
why Vero Beach.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
Well, I did grow up here, born and raised, and it's
kind of funny because I neverthought I would end up back in
Vero until I married my husband, who is from Vero also.
You know, growing up I was thatkid was like there's nothing to
do in Vero.
There, you know, wasn't muchgoing on.
We've heard that zero.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
Vero Zero beach, zero beach.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
Yes, I was just going to ask if you said that, yeah,
so that's what I used to callVero beach as well.
But then you know, as I gotolder and we moved back and
there's just so much beauty inVero, our beaches, I mean the
community, it just there'sreally nowhere else.
I'd rather be in running abusiness and you know, being

(00:54):
here and I feel like there's somuch community support with
small businesses, which you know, that's very important because
I feel like that does make up agood part of the community.

Speaker 1 (01:04):
We've been amazed.
We were just down the farmer'smarket and people were talking
to us about the podcast andthey're excited and everybody
knows everybody.
We were just over at SeahorseLane yesterday and some
customers were really excitedabout the podcast or asking us
questions and they said, hey, have you talked to you?
Guys should reach out to Amandaover at Level Yoga.
I was like no way, we'reactually interviewing her

(01:26):
tomorrow.
And then the same thinghappened at the farmer's market.
Someone said, oh yeah, amandafrom the Level Yoga is doing a
podcast.
I was like, actually that'swhere we're heading today.

Speaker 2 (01:36):
Oh, that's so cool I really noticed that about the
area here is, the communityreally supports each other and I
love that about this area Ifeel like that's so important
where you know local businessesI mean, we we start really from
nothing.
You know, it's not like afranchise or anything like that,
like basically started fromnothing and had to promote and
grow on our own, and you know, Ijust feel like these small

(02:00):
businesses in town we just haveto really stick together and
support each other and I'm verymuch kind of aware of that.
Like when I'm shopping forsomething, I try to go to the
small local boutiques and really, you know, support one another,
because that's what we need todo Absolutely.

Speaker 1 (02:16):
What would you say you love most about the
community?

Speaker 2 (02:19):
I would have to say how supportive I know when,
through the whole COVID time, how much support we had from our
students.
I mean they would send cardsand just tell us what a great
job we were doing.
And you know, some would justbuy a pass because they knew
that that would help us keep ourdoors open because I still had

(02:40):
to pay rent.
You know, I had really nicegentlemen come to me one day
here at the studio.
I just finished teaching andgave me a check and said you're
doing something right.
You know, keep it up.
And gave me a thousand dollars.
You know things like that, likeit just shows that sometimes it
might not feel like we're doinggood enough, but you know, then

(03:00):
people send us a card or tellus you know great job and that
that really makes us feel goodthat we're doing the right thing
.

Speaker 1 (03:07):
I hope everybody takes note of that.
Like, if you really find alocal business here in Bureau
that really has treated you well, let them know.
Even if it's like a little card, a thank you letter, a thousand
dollar check, let them know it.
Really it goes a lot furtherthan you might realize.

Speaker 2 (03:26):
I save all the cards that have been sent.
I save them and then if I amhaving a down day or something
where I just feel overwhelmed, Iread that for inspiration to
kind of remind myself to keepgoing.
That's a good idea.

Speaker 1 (03:41):
So, amanda, what's next?
What's next for Level Yoga?

Speaker 2 (03:45):
I'm excited to work on another retreat, probably
keeping the one in NorthCarolina but going somewhere a
little bit bigger.
That is kind of in the worksright now Hopefully we'll be
announcing that in the nextcouple of months and then just
revamping our 200-hour teachertraining, kind of making some
changes with that.
I love teaching other studentshow to teach yoga or if they

(04:09):
just want to learn and growdeeper in their own practice.
Um, but you know, after so manyyears things need a little bit
of a shift and change.
So we're we're working on kindof revamping and changing our
200 hours.

Speaker 1 (04:22):
So so what's your like?
What's the 200 hours that like?
Is that like a package orsomething like that?
Is that your?

Speaker 2 (04:27):
200 hour trains uh students to become teachers.

Speaker 1 (04:31):
Oh, okay, gotcha.

Speaker 2 (04:32):
Yeah, and some people do it just because they want to
do it.
They don't do it, they want toteach.
But there are times where I'llhave a student in there and
they'll say, like I'm notinterested in teaching, I just
want to do this to grow my ownpractice, and then they ended up
wanting to teach.
I mean, teaching yoga is noteasy.
There's a lot that we have tomanage and do.

(04:52):
But I always say my yogapractice like me physically
practicing on my mat changed me.
But also teaching yoga changedme because it really gave me
confidence, it helped me find myvoice, it helped change my life
.

Speaker 1 (05:07):
Well, Amanda, thank you so much for sitting down
with us and letting us get toknow a little bit about you and
your business and what you'redoing.
I'm going to recreate the boxvideo at some point.
Yay, but I got to find like arefrigerator box.
But we have really enjoyedsitting down and getting to know
you more and uh and appreciatewhat you're doing here in Bureau

(05:28):
.
Thank you.
