Between Covid, school closures, new variants, and more, the past 24 months have created a roller coaster of big emotions for many Hawaiian students. At the same time, mental health providers are burning out. Dr. Dennis Itoga, clinical psychologist and Adjunct Professor at Chaminade University in Honolulu, discusses the increased need for mental health professionals to serve students and the challenges of attracting more people to this work. But as Dr. Itoga explains, there are also reasons to be hopeful.
