I like your the top and,
the thing is, it doesn't really fittotally as my wife's.
She said, just wear this, you know,it's hers and I and I put it on my head
is like, my head's too big for the hat,but but you get the gist of it.
(02:53):
And keep in mind, most people listen to our podcast.
They're not seeing as even thoughthey are seeing the promos
on social media TikTok,Instagram, Facebook, you know?
But nevertheless, we just appreciate thatwe don't take ourselves too seriously.
No, no.
Like likenever like never. No no no no no.
Yeah.
(03:14):
So you look like you could post,
you know, some kind of, well, probably the New Year's Eve.
Yeah.
Usually when I do DJ my New Year'sEve gigs, I have my tux on.
Yeah, but I think you should be at Times Square.
I agree,I agree, as long as it's not too cold.
I've got a little bit wimpy.
As I've gotten older, you know.
(03:35):
So what's good with you, Joyce?
Let's you and your family.
That's a good. Lots of good things.
Like what? Like.
Yeah,I mean, you you've had a really good.
Yeah. Christmas was great.
No, there's,
Yeah, I think,
you know, just reflecting on New Year's,
(03:56):
what we hear from people about resolutionsand and all of that.
Yeah. I just began thinking that
I think I never liked resolutions
because it can put a lot of pressureon you.
Yeah, I think of every day is New Year.
Like nothing magical happens, right?
(04:17):
That it's a new year.
It's like,we can't wait to get rid of 2025.
Yeah,
but it's only 24 hours.
Exactly.
It's not like all the bells and whistlesare going off and the fireworks.
And I remember right, it's fun.
It's fun.
But I remember, you know, when I would train people at the gym
and they come up with these resolutionstwo weeks in, forget about it.
(04:40):
You're back to what they were last year.
And you're right.
It puts a lot of unnecessary pressure, even though some people resolutions do
well for them.
But I think for the majority of the peoplethey kind of fall short.
Then they beat themselves upand they go back into that
old vicious cyclethat they're trying to escape.
Well, you know, the last guest that we had on for
Christmas, Steve Carr, oh, he was awesome.
(05:02):
He made a resolution.
He stuck with that.
But that was really spiritual, really got driven. Yes.
He probably has that innate personality.
Following through on,
this mission.
So sometimes maybe resolution makes youfeel good that you're going to do that.
(05:25):
Well, you saw that in the gymworking with people.
Yeah.
The saying is that
forget parking at a gymJanuary, February, March.
But after that, it's all, oh, I.
And you get the regulars at the gym too.
And it's like all of a sudden they feellike they're being infringed upon.
It's like, I don't have my machine.
(05:46):
There's all these carpetbaggers herethat are taking my machine,
and we all kind of,like, wink at each other.
By February or March,
it'll be back to normal again, even though from a personal standpoint,
I really hope these people staybecause I like to see them get healthy
and I admire peoplethat come through the door,
so I'm not wishing for them to go away, per se.
(06:06):
I'm trying to get myself all the way.
I said, I'll find the machine.
If that one's busy, I'll go find a machinesomewhere else.
Mindset to get.
But I want everyone to get that mindset.
Even for churches, because all my life I have heard,
real good Christian people
really not liking all the peoplethat showed up on Easter.
(06:28):
Or Christmas Eve or Christmas Day.
And I thought, what?
Why are you angry.
Right. You're welcoming them in.
Oh now I'm going to lose my seatI know, how dare you sit in my seat.
We'll go find another seat.
Right. You go find it.
No, no big deal. Magic.
I just have to say this.
I just can't imagine, Jesus.
(06:49):
Like, standing there and saying, what?
Are you for real? Right?
Yeah. Take a hike.
Get on. That's my chair. Yeah.
They're coming to church for one day.
Yeah.
Or, you know, whatever, you know, to,you know, whatever is inside of them.
But it's the same thing with the gym.
You know, new Year's Day.
(07:10):
What is it, January 2nd or January 3rd?
Right.
Maybe you think that for sure.
You have good intentions, right?
I really do, and I love to welcome him in.
Whenever I see somebody brand new comein, I like to go up to him and say hi,
you know, hello and welcome.
You know, and I haven't seen you here before.
If you need help with a, a machine or anexercise, be more than happy to help you.
(07:32):
We should be more inviting to that, because we know it takes a lot of courage
to go through that door, butit takes a courage to make resolutions,
if that's indeed what you do,and stick with it.
And if you do fall off, give yourself the grace
knowing that we all stumbleand we all fall.
Get back up on the horse, as they sayin that metaphor and give it a shot again.
But too many people, when they fall off, they say, I really fell off.
(07:54):
Maybe I fell off that nutrition plan.
I was just going to eat everythingin the house again,
and they go back to where they werebefore, where they were trying to escape.
Yeah, I think food is, you know,
it is
because, you can give them smoking and,you know, that can be challenging,
but you could do it,but you have to eat. Yes.
(08:14):
But a lot of people live to eat,
you know, the animal kingdomthey eat to live.
We as humans,we live that in many, many cases.
And I like working with people.
We therapy and,
and working with a group of cardiologists,
work with people with, a weight loss.
(08:36):
And it seemed to me a lot ofit was associated with memories from,
and a mr.. Yes,
they miss that time in their lifewhere they felt secure.
And that's why,
there's just so much you know, like nurturing when when you're eating
instead of training your muffin to say,
(08:59):
this is fuel for my right.
I can have those memories, but it doesn'tmean I have to eat those, right?
That's true,because I think about that, too.
You know, my mom, on a Sunday afternoon,be out there
playing, you know, basketball or footballwith my buddies where we just got,
you know, we were hiking in the school dayand then you go back,
(09:20):
you know, open up the door.
And just the aroma of momcooking the beef stew
or whatever may be on the onthe oven that day.
And you're right,it does bring back memories.
So many smells bring back memories.
Really comforting. It is.
Well.
Stretchy pants, stretchy pants. You're down there.
(09:41):
A lot of folks would be wearing stretchyparts for the next couple of weeks.
Right?
But but you know, you do make resolutions.
No, I did in the past.
I did in the past, but I just found it empty.
I just find it empty.
I just each and every day, I just tryto be better than I was yesterday.
So, like, I wake up in each and every dayand say, okay,
(10:02):
I may not be where I want to be a choice, but I'm better than I was yesterday.
In some small ways, you really are even inspired me so much.
And if I have a resolution, my resolutionfor this year would be to turn off my,
Yeah.
Hey, folks, these shows are not edited.
You know, if the phone rings, we have toblow our nose or we have to make a trip.
(10:26):
It stays in. Just so you know. Okay.
Yeah, I understand.
Oh, I understand too.
No. Okay.
But what I learned from youand this is this is part of my resolution.
I can't I shut off my phone.
Part of my resolution is to shut up.
Right.
There you go. You did it.
(10:47):
Resolution accomplished
your morning routine met.
And and then when I went onlineand I downloaded,
you know, my sister had sent me a, Taichi, which is, she got mo.
Yeah.
And, you know, because this past yearhas been a little challenging
for me with the accident,
(11:09):
problemsin my back, and you're coming along fine.
I mean, you're getting a little bit bettereach and every day.
Getting better. And your son.
Yes. My grandson, my grandson, Matthew.
Yeah.
Matthew. Yes.
It's been,
It's been a blessing in many waysbecause I just said, son,
because you don't look likeyou're old enough to have a grandson.
(11:29):
Okay, that.
Would that a good comeback or what?It means, like myself.
Because I really, you know, kind of.
Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And my husband and,
Yeah, just really, really, interesting them good.
All good.
But Matthew has been helped nowbecause he has to see
a chiropractor andand that is really changing his.
(11:51):
Sure.
Because his body was in such painand now it's not.
And there's like a solution. Right.
And for me learning what you do everyday and realizing that it is,
Chico, it is an energy that you do.
So I have been my resolution for this year
(12:12):
is you do this every single day.
I want to take a sip of my vodka
and yeah,
I'm sparkling water, so.
Yeah.
Oh, okay. Let's toast together.
That's right.
We toast good health. Great year.
And we toast toyou and your family and friends.
Only the best. And we will.
(12:34):
But you're right.
The Taichi is awesome in that energy.
Yeah.
And I'm kind of beginners level with it.
But I already felt the differencein my body movement, movement movement.
That's the key. Just move.
This is like from the top of your headto rubbing your ears,
rubbing your faceand back in your neck. Yep.
(12:55):
Through your body.
And it just makes a difference.
Even ending it with is,you know, spiritually for me.
Sure. For others.
But that the ending of itwhere you get centered
and you put your tongue like kind of,you know, the top of your
the roof of your mouth and,and you just ground yourself and.
(13:17):
Well, you know, a lot of the samurai, samurai warriors who do a lot of that
before their battles because it goes goit goes back to ancient times.
But to me, it's just, you know, taking on the battles of every day
of everyday life, but just getting up in the morning
doing the prayerful workwhich which I choose to do.
And then I do a lot of exerciseswhile I'm lying down, you know, just
stretching my calves, rubbing my face, you know, underneath my arms,
(13:41):
rubbing the arms to get the lymph nodesgoing behind the ears,
you know, moving the nose aroundso it clears the nasal passages
and just, you know, rubbing the bodyand then getting up in the morning,
getting out of bed, I mean, and then justmoving and doing the tai chi,
the movement exercises, getting down, doing 100 push ups, doing some yoga moves.
(14:03):
Yeah.
But I'm just moving, moving, moving for like 20 minutes.
That's the whole thing by 20 minutes.
But I love that move.It just feels so good.
And by the time I'm done,I'm breathing better.
I'm thinking clearer.
I'm expecting good things to happen
during the daybecause I'm doing a lot of meditation.
Because tai chi is meditation emotion
(14:23):
really what it is?
I know for those of youlistening, already know this.
You're nodding your heads like, yes, yes,but if you've never heard it,
you know, just go on YouTubeand find a beginner's, it's how you try.
As I say, tai chi, the qigong, you know, pops up and there's this woman.
(14:45):
I love her voice, this calmness about her.
And it's maybe ten, 15 minutes, you know, to do that.
There's a morning one right now.
I'm doing the self-healing. Right.
So like I said,my resolution is staying with this choice.
And the thing is, people sometimessay I don't have any time.
We all have time.
(15:05):
Even if you set the clocka half hour earlier in the morning
or 15 minutes early, don'tyou think you're worth it?
You're healthy.
I think that we need
not just for ourselves with our health, but we owe it to our loved ones.
We owe it to our friends.
We owe it to the folkswe work with every day
to be the best version of ourselveseach and every day.
So maybe that's a resolutionwe'll give to all of you.
(15:26):
Put yourself first.
Put that oxygen mask.
Yeah.
Treat your body well.
Just like if you had a very expensive car, you're not going to pump sand.
No, no.
And you get the oil changes, you checkunder the hood, get those checkups,
whatever you do.
I mean, I have a natural path,and I just have,
(15:46):
you know, I go toI make sure I keep my appointments,
especially as you get a little bit older,
because I want to check under the hood, but I expect good to happen.
I don'tI don't have any fear. Another good point.
So I've been seeing a natural paletteof Lysol in the past, and I love her.
But because
again, of the accident, you know, I'm seeing her for,
it's likelike she does this really therapeutic
(16:08):
massage and acupuncture, and she's just so smart
and she's so well trained, and your credentials are wonderful.
So I am going to keep that up,even if it's, once a month.
Right. You know, and and to do that.
Because right now I think acupuncture isreally also helping was preventative too.
And the whole thing isyou want to get to the root cause.
(16:30):
And that's why I love, acupuncture.
I love chiropractic care
because I want to get to the root causerather than to put Band-Aids on it.
And so, so much of what's happeningtoday is just a Band-Aid.
And that's, you know, and then again, you know, my, grandson, nephew had said,
since he's experienced this through, coming to a chiropractor
(16:51):
that could he do thisat least once a month?
And I said, yes, ma'am.
We will make that happen. Yes. Yeah, yeah.
Because I think your body needsadjustments.
Yeah, it does, and it's great.
You know, for the immune systemtoo, is like my
my chiropractor always says to me,
I don't care if you feel sick, you're sneezing, you're coughing.
You come in here because it's reallyfor your immune system too as well.
(17:14):
Because I went to my chiropractora couple days ago
and I hadn't been there since October,I missed a month
and I started feeling it coming onas fit as I am.
And as good as my nutritionis with fasting and tai chi and workouts
every day, still, the body still needs that adjustment
because you're movingand you're getting in out of your car.
You're picking stuff up around the house,
you're doing a laundry or,you know, vacuuming, whatever it may be.
(17:37):
I mentioned thatbecause I like doing that stuff. As a guy.
I know I lost my man card, but,you know, so to speak.
But but I enjoy doing that.
Yeah.
It's like every woman is lookingat her husband or boyfriend.
Sure I do, I do, I love shopping,
I love shopping, I love grocery shoppingbecause I love the social aspect of it.
(17:58):
But the thing is,she doesn't like it so much
because I don't look at the pricingthe way she does.
If I like it, I just buy it.
But in a good marriage, you need that.
You do.
You need the personthat's checking the checking account.
Right. And and the enthusiasm.
Sure. Exactly.
I mean, I, I mean, I fear my wife.
I mean, Revere my wife.
That was in the last episode.
(18:19):
If you saw the last episode we talked
about in the Bible where they say fear, but it's actually Revere.
But my wife says I like itbetter when you say you fear me.
Love you baby.
Yeah. So,
you know, I remember that,
Thank you.
Thanksgiving, that New Year's Day.
(18:42):
What I miss is my parents always liketo go out and have a really great meal.
We just go out
the restaurant to. Yes.
But I don't know. Is that still a thing
I guess I mean typically you know my.
Typically my bride and I, she has her
we have sauerkraut
(19:04):
because she got a German background.
So and sauerkraut is so popular.
I mean, it's not popular, but it's so good for you.
It really is a great,
you know, it's great for your your gut, your microbiome and your digestive tract.
So we'll have sauerkraut donethe right way,
and we'll have some kind of aneed to go along with that and salad
and of course, maybe a dessert later in the day
because there's a lot of,you know, different upstate.
(19:26):
So do different things.
I think southern thing is to, what is it?
Good luck with the black eyedblack eyed peas.
Yeah, good grub too. I got a feeling,
Fergie.
Yeah. Oh, yeah.
Me too. Me too. They're really great.
I love the Black Eyed Peas.
Yeah, yeah.
I think in New Orleans,it's the same thing in the kitchen.
(19:49):
Yeah. That's right. Maybe. Yeah.
Crawfish. Yeah.
What do we do?
Well my, my yeah.
My mother German.
Right. Sauerkraut was really.
I talked to Pan about that. Yes.
Certain recipes that I'm, missing, but,
the Italians say that my mom learned frommy father's
(20:10):
sisters was to make somethingthat I called honey cakes.
But I think the Italian name forthat is easy.
You spell or spelled like Napoli.
It's simple.
You're going to correct us.
I'm sure if we're wrong, we we apologize.
Yeah, right.
Right, Joe? Right.
Then you pour this warm, honey.
(20:32):
I love honey.
It's great for the immune systemto get organic honey
indigenous to your area, because it helpsa lot with the immune system.
But I don't really have anyoneto make it for.
I. I apparently wasthe only one who liked it
because everyone else is gone, and my brother is in South Carolina.
Well, you have my permission to make whatever.
(20:53):
We'll we'll be your surrogates.
Pattyand I would be your surrogates, like,
with all your goodies that you broughtin for, you know, for Christmas.
Oh, good.
Every time I.
You bring goodies.
Joyce, my wife always says I hate her,I love her, I hate her,
I love her as she's eating.
You know, you're,
you know, sometimesI just go out in the kitchen and I think,
(21:14):
can I make, you know, oh, I know, I like,I love different recipes.
Right.
But I'll read the rest of theI think, oh, I can substitute that.
I can do that.
And I realize that when I'm in the kitchendoing that, it's, very calming.
Yeah.
Therapeutic. Freeing.
Not not really to cook. Yeah,
(21:36):
but to bake.
Something.
I'm just so glad that my, my wife
does not like to bake, because if she did, I'd be 300 pounds.
Even with all the exerciseand fasting I do, I would be 300 pounds.
Like if I had to work like any fudge shopor something like that.
Oh, candy shop, let me tell you, when I have my own shop and I always do,
(21:59):
because you did that professionallyand I was in an artist, complex.
And I just really sold my butter crunch.
Butter crunch that's among my favorites.
Butter crunch.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah, I love it.
But that happened to me.
(22:20):
There was a couple of good things, but this, you know,
people came in and it was the buttercrunch, especially around the holidays.
And then a woman came back a second time
and she was Albert Chino's assistant.
Now he was performing at LongmoreTheater in New Haven.
And he had a months long run there.
(22:41):
Oh yeah.
Oh yeah.
Farms in Brantford where
my little store was,you know, with my candy
and she brought a box to himand he loved it so much.
He asked her to come back.
So she said I just want you to know, you know this.
Wow. That's awesome.
(23:02):
Come every week. Yeah.
And then I had the boxesreally decorated for him.
Yeah.
I hadthere was a calligrapher upstairs and she,
you know, write his name on the box. Yeah.
Like, wow.
You know, things like.
And that's what I loveso much about what you do.
It's just not,you know, what you're baking.
It's how you present itwhenever you bring, you know,
(23:24):
little goodies in for me or Stephanie
or Dave here, a direct linemedia or forever.
Yeah.
You're always so thoughtful about that.
Like, even with your clients
and everybody in your list, you bring themand you listen to what they like.
You pay attention to what they love, and you customize it to word.
You know, that person, that client, that friend.
(23:46):
And that's something I really admireabout one of the many things
I admire about you.But that's, that's that's pretty cool.
But you know, something
just talking aboutjust New Year's in general and all that,
everything is one said it is, it is.
You can say, this day,
New Year's Day, I'm going to do this.
(24:06):
And the key to that, the keyto keep going to whatever,
if it's the gym, if it's if it's church, whatever you want to do
is tell yourself every daythat you love it,
because they'll come a pointwhere maybe you'll get tired of going
or tired of the maybe the tired choices.
(24:27):
But if you say this feels so goodfor my mind, body and soul, right?
Your brainthen begins to help you achieve it,
and then it's no longer difficultto do so.
I would suggest to anyone listening,if you're thinking of a resolution
or making some changes, think of itis so easy that you love doing it.
(24:50):
If you're going to quit smoking,just say I don't.
I'm looking forward to doing this.
I want to heal my body.
I want to eat better.
I want to take a little walk every day.
I want to do something that make light.
Yes. Oh, good.
This feels so good.
Even if it doesn't feel good. Say it.
And you have to speak by faithin the beginning, anytime.
(25:12):
And your brain doesn't knowwhat's real or not.
Your brain does what you tell it to do.
We talked about the neuroplasticity.
That's my big word for the day.
You send me such great things.
You sent me something last night that,
I need for the evening prayer
that you sent or what you saybefore you go to bed.
Yeah. And.
(25:34):
Yeah.
And and just saying things to yourselflike,
what did you say something.
There was something I had in my home, but, like, I don't have my phone here.
I have no.
Or being afraid or whatever
it will look like every daywe face these challenges, right?
So look at it.
(25:56):
It's.
My grandson.
Made me change my mindabout even the accident.
You know, even though we were, you know, taking away mandolins
and a car is totally. You have a car.
But what do you learn from it?
What was the positive part of that partfor him, being in the autistic realm
and having difficulty speaking,to anyone beyond any of them.
(26:17):
Is thatwhen you were taken to the hospital
and I had to be taken in for tests
and you had to be left behindthat he didn't tell me.
I think I said this, you know, say it again.
He didn't tell me until recentlythat he spoke
for the first time and it made him feelgood, that he could actually,
(26:37):
you know, speak
and, and, you know, answer questions.
Yeah.
Yeah, because they even ask him questionsabout me and that he could do that.
That made him feel really good.
So now he knows he can do it.Very empowering.
He knows that, quite a chiropractor, youknow, working on him makes him feel good.
Yes, yes.
(26:57):
And I've learned that I have to take careof the energy in my body
and that when we fall off our bikes, when we're five and six years old
or ten years old, whatever, andyou get injury and you get right back up.
But you know, somethingthat could come back,
so your body does need, you know, to be tuned up.
It does, it does.
(27:19):
Yeah. Where was I going with this? Well,
it sounded good to me.
That was a great point to me.It really was.
But you were talking about, you know, fear before, too.
And somebody said to me once before,
the fearand worry is like worshiping the devil.
And that really hit home with me.
And as human beings we do it.
People always say, oh, don't be afraid, don't be this, it's easier said than done.
(27:42):
You really have to train your mind.
You, it's not easy.
People may be saying,you know what, I don't, I don't.
It's okay.
You don't believe in the devil, but you believe in the dark side, right?
When you see a dark side, you know it.
When someone saying something wrongor whatever, that's like the dark side.
You don't want to go right.
Therefore, don't go there, but don't dwell on it.
(28:05):
Dwell on that.
The more you bring life to ityou see exactly to it.
So I think what you sent me wassomeone was saying
when you hate someone you don't like, someone stop right saying that.
Yeah.
Because the more you saythat you're feeling right.
Yeah.
(28:25):
You see in your mind is that person.
Is that thing.
So drop that.
Yeah.Okay. Your resolution everyone that I
to drop that and just focus on the peopleyou do love.
Focus on the things you like to watch.
Right? I watch something on TV.
I'm not sure if I want to watch it,but people have said it's good.
I stick with it.
(28:46):
I say to myself, okay, is this enhancing my life and all?
And if it's not, you click exac.
That's right. You have the power to do that.
It's like if you hear a certain song, you don't like whatever.
You can change the channel.
Or if you don't like a certain show, you change it.
So you have that power.
You don't have to stick with that typething and you don't do the same thing.
(29:06):
Let's check this movie out to somebodysaid they liked, you know, what the heck?
If we don't like it, we can just turn itright off and try something else,
you know, and say the ones that I thought
was just perfect, which you've probably heard this.
So when you go to a buffetand you've got your
take your plate and it's this long, you know, buffet beautiful.
(29:28):
But like most of the cellphones, they have the stuff you don't like.
You don't put it on your plate. Right.
Oh, well, I gotta do this.
Yeah, right.
You know, whatever you don't like.
No. You go to the buffetand you put the stuff on there.
You sure
life is a buffet?
Yeah. And like anything else, focus on what you like.
(29:50):
Not so much what you don't like.
There's always going to be sin.
And don't let negative situationsrent real estate in your head.
Yeah.
As you go through life, you know, just focus on focus on what's good.
I do like nine things every day.
Somebody, who's a mentor of mine,
he came up with the number ninefor whatever reason.
But nine things that happenedduring the day before you go to bed
(30:11):
at night that you're grateful for.
Okay.
It could be like seeing a hummingbirdoutside your window.
Something that small, you know, or so.
And I do that, and it transfers into my morning.
So before I go to bed at night,I fill my head with all the things
I'm grateful for.
So when I wake up the next morning,I'm already,
you know, thinking positively because it'swhat I saw the night I'm walking.
(30:32):
I'm not watching the newsbefore I go to bed at night.
I don't want that seedbeing planted in my head.
All this negativity don't want it.
I mean, guard card yourselfa good resolution.
I'm not going to watch the news channel.
You want to know the weather?
That's right.
And you're going to find out what'sgoing on through social media, whatever.
I mean, I'll I'll check in during
(30:54):
the course of the day for 20 minutesjust to see what's going on.
But it's all on loop.
I want to know it's, it's all injust for the sake of conversation, just
in something.
But a lot of timesI feel that it needs prayer.
So I need to know what I'm praying about.
Many, many times you can do that.
I don't think I know, right?
Right.
(31:15):
It's the beginning of 2020.
