Have you spent a lifetime making others comfortable—while quietly dismissing your own needs?

Do you still struggle to say "no," even though you're no longer tied to a job, boss, or routine?

In this empowering episode, mindset coach Victoria Oborny joins me to unpack the deep-rooted habit of people-pleasing—something so many women carry into retirement without even realizing it. Together, we explore why it's so hard to put ourselves first, how these patterns develop, and most importantly, how to let go of them so you can step fully into the life you desire.

Retirement isn't the end—it's a new beginning. And there's no better time to break free from old patterns that limit you in living life boldly. You'll discover:

• What people-pleasing really looks like in everyday life (it's sneakier than you think).

• Why self-worth and identity are key to reclaiming your voice.

• Mindset shifts and practical strategies to help you set boundaries with confidence.

• How to stop neglecting to want more—and start saying yes to yourself.

If you're ready to stop living for everyone else and finally put your joy, needs, and dreams at the center, this episode is a must-listen. You'll walk away not only with insight, but with a renewed sense of power, purpose, and permission to live your life on your terms.

AFFIRMATION of the MONTH

"I am loved and valued even when I disappoint people"

GUEST BIO:

If there's one thing I've learned in life, is that difficult times are really miracles in disguise to help us become who we were meant to be.

I came from a small farm in Nebraska where I learned at an early age to work hard and serve others. Getting my degree in Animal Science and then Nursing was just another way to serve. I didn't realize until years later that much of my serving others was at the expense of my own needs.

Everything changed in my 50s when I discovered personal development and experienced a profound spiritual awakening. I realized that my fears, limiting beliefs, and circumstances weren't who I was—they were just stories I had been telling myself. And I had the power to rewrite them.

I took control. I set boundaries. I found my voice. And for the first time, I became the driver of my own life.

Starting over at this stage of life can feel overwhelming—divorce, career shifts, empty nests, or simply waking up and wondering "Is this all there is"? When you shift your mindset, you transform your life. And the best part? No one can take that away from you.

Because of the impact coaching has had on my life, I had to share. I became a Life Coach to help others Transform their life.

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
