Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is in the Morning show. All right, we had
to get Anthony Rodella on the phone. He has this
stand up special on Amazon Prime called Totally Relatable. So
first of all, we have to congratulate Anthony Rodella on
his very first stand up special. This is so cool.

(00:20):
Anthony's congratulations. This is very cute.

Speaker 2 (00:24):
Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
I mean, this is in your line of business. When
you get a special on Amazon Prime, is that like
a new level and you're adding like an all new
high tier of royalty when it comes to comedy. I mean,
what does this mean?

Speaker 2 (00:42):
Yeah, I mean so technically, and I've learned there's a
lot of technicalities. Technically it found on Amazon Prime. It's
on Prime Video, which basically means Amazon didn't buy it.
I ended up putting it out myself, after all things,
with all different platforms. The reason why I did it
is because I didn't want it to be edited watered down.
I wanted to give my fans and the people that

(01:02):
don't know who I am my actual comedy. I didn't
want to have, you know, hey, we're going to take
this out and soften it a little. I'm like, no,
I don't want to be sawt so well, I don't
know that's what came out, right.

Speaker 1 (01:13):
Wait, so that's what they do? Well, you know it
comes out soft sometime. No, No, really is that what
they do when when let's say on Netflix or an
Amazon Prime buys your special, they have all editing rights
and you really don't have any say over it.

Speaker 2 (01:27):
Well, for the most part, that's where I understood from it.
They can edit it because they own it and so forth.
So my first one, I didn't want anyone to own it.
I want to be able to put it out, and
after prime Video, I want to be able, you know,
to put it out wherever I want, maybe you know,
my own Facebook or my own YouTube, to make it
open to everybody. But right now it goes as like

(01:47):
a new release on Prime Video. So you know, there
is a rental charge is three ninety nine a rent.
A lot of people are owning it for nine ninety nine,
so that's another thing. It gives my fans a chance
to own the comedy special. They can watch whatever they want.

Speaker 1 (02:00):
Wow, So it's it's like four dollars to rent it,
right Because I'm getting to a point here. Yeah, Froggy
saw it.

Speaker 2 (02:05):
I love it?

Speaker 1 (02:07):
Where hold on Froggy saw it and loved it. I
want to get to that. But Scotty B. You know,
Scotty B, he didn't want to spend the three ninety
to say, he didn't want to spend the three ninety nine.
It was way too much money for it. No, I
thought I did something wrong. I thought I did something wrong,
and I was like, wait a minute, how come I
wants me to pay three ninety nine. I mean, I
was so I'm gonna try to figure out how to
get it for free. But then I realized, you know what,
I lived it.

Speaker 2 (02:28):
I was there.

Speaker 1 (02:28):
I was at that show. Yeah, but it's very cool
to see where you were.

Speaker 2 (02:32):
Yeah, but you know, you know what I'm gonna put.
I'm gonna put Scotty on the spot. Yes you were
at my show, Yes you were there. Lives But if
I remember correctly, I gave you tickets to my show freely.

(02:53):
There hasn't been any Scotty be support yet exactly.

Speaker 1 (02:58):
I think I bought a T shirt.

Speaker 2 (03:02):
That all goes to my kids. That money.

Speaker 1 (03:05):
I will go home tonight. I will go home tonight
and I will pay the three ninety nine and I
will watch it. I promise, Well, you know what's funny.

Speaker 2 (03:11):
About that, though, And people that are listening at home
might kill me for this, and that's fine. There's a
lot of people that I want to kill me. The
people that are like I never like when they told me, hey,
you gotta charge blahlah blah. They wanted it a hot
lot higher, like nineteen ninety nine for perch. I said no, no, no,
do whatever minimum is. So the minimum was three ninety nine.
I said, DoD to minimum. I'm not going trying to
crack people. I don't care about the money. I want

(03:33):
more fans from this. I want people talking about it
at work and so forth. So I hate people. I
can't stand them. I'm That's why, Yes, there was at
a fundraiser for one of my favorite charities, which has
to do with dogs and cats, because I hate people.
I like dogs better than people. You have to see
how many people are getting annoyed over three ninety nine

(03:55):
one lady. And here's what I do. When you talk
about me on social media and you come at me.
Number one, you better not have your picture as your
profile because I'm going right for ammunition and that's what
I go to. So this one woman says, you should
be ashamed of yourself, but charging three ninety nine. This
is disgusting. I hope you get canceled charging people for

(04:15):
a special. YadA, YadA, YadA. I went to her profile
picture and I said, I tried to be nice, but
you keep coming at me for three ninety Let me
ask you something. Have you ever had a full blown
fit on the drive through at McDonald's or in front
of Krispy Kream Donuts or a hotting Dogs. Doesn't look

(04:36):
like you've ever complained about four dollars before.

Speaker 1 (04:39):
Oh my gosh, I'm.

Speaker 2 (04:45):
Giving you quality comedy and you complained about three nine nine.
I guarantee you if my comedy special was part of
an extra value meal, you would have not been complaining. No.

Speaker 1 (04:56):
Yeah, by the way, Okay, so I haven't seen totally relatable.
I'm gonna buy it. I'm gonna go full throttle on
this baby, because I know that Anthony. As you know Anthony,
we know Anthony. You love pointing out the absurd idiots
in life because we all witnessed them every day. And
I love it. I'm sure a lot of it is
about it. Froggy, what else did you love from? Like
totally totally relatable.

Speaker 3 (05:15):
I'm gonna tell you so, I paid the three ninety
nine to rent it, then I went back and bought
it when I was done, So you got fourteen dollars out.

Speaker 1 (05:22):
Of me number one. That's crazy.

Speaker 3 (05:25):
There were multiple times I had to stop and rewind
because we were laughing so hard and so loud. We
missed the follow up jokes to the one that we
were laughing at. It is that funny. I even texted
Anthony while watching it. I'm like, this is one of
the funniest things I've ever seen. And my son had
just come home from college, and he's one of those
that he walks by the TV and then goes and
does his own thing. He stopped and sat down on

(05:47):
the floor and watched the entire comedy special with it.
That's how I knew it was good. The whole family
ended up in one room watching the whole thing.

Speaker 1 (05:53):
That's so cool.

Speaker 2 (05:53):
So I'm so First of all, I thank you for that.
Second of all, and Scotty take notes. That's how you
support someone.

Speaker 1 (05:59):
I just look, I just look. I just I bought it.
I didn't even rented it. I just bought it. Oh
he look at that he's showing his phone. He just
bought it. Oh you know what it is because you
explained to me. You know what, people that have Prime
probably think, oh, how come it's not free, but you
explained why it's not. So I get it and absolutely correct.

Speaker 2 (06:13):
Right it's a new release and nobody's forced to buy
it or rent it. But I'm so happy to what
Froggy just said, because this is what I've started to realize,
and it's you go into comedy, you don't know who
you're gonna appeal to. You don't know who's going to
be a fan. And what I've been seeing lately is
that when I first started, I had all the older
generation follow me because of my ethnic comedy, My off

(06:35):
the boat Italian comedy was and so forth. So I
had like sixty five seven year old groupies at my show, like,
you don't know what I would do if I was
you age, I'm like, okay, but I wasn't born during
the Civil War. And now I saw it's so nice
to see, like people are sending me videos of their
eighteen year old kids, them and their and their the

(06:57):
and the grandparents all in a room watching comedy. And
when you think about that, especially from my standpoint as
a comedian, not knowing who I'm going to be able
to appeal to, to think to myself, my comedy is
making three generations with three different sensibilities laugh and enjoy it.
It's it's mind blowing to be able to appeal to
an eighty year old and eighteen year old and a

(07:18):
forty year old. It's absolutely insane.

Speaker 1 (07:19):
Well, there you go, and we've got proof here in
the room. We've got Froggy. He actually brought his son
Caden to the show just to tell you how much
he loved the show. And then the third generation, all
of Caden's little illegitimate children running around there there, they're
watching it too. Don't forget Nate's that's important too. Yeah,
we got so many generations. Hey, uh okay, moving on. Oh,

(07:41):
by the way, Gandhi has a question. I mean, you're
throwing all these numbers around about it. You know how
much it costs to rent totally relatable versus by it?
What's that, Gandhi? Do you have any discount codes? Discount code?

Speaker 2 (07:54):
No? No, I absolutely no, no, Prime'll give me. And
my wife complained about it. She goes, what was that
purchase on Prime? I said, I bought my special. She goes,
I have to pay nine ninety nine to see my
I said, first of all, you're not gonna watch it. Okay,
let's call a spade and spade. You're not gonna sit

(08:14):
down and watch me for an hour fifteen minutes because
you and my kids are kids. You don't even listen
to me for two minutes without closing me out right.
And then so I supported myself. But the funny thing
with my wife is when I first decided, I said,
you know what, I've been betting on myself since day one.
I'm gonna bet on myself again. I'm putting it on Prime.
She goes, this is exciting. Now a normal wife would say, Okay,

(08:35):
how much are you making? What's the deal with this?
She says to me, do we still have to pay
for our annual Prime membership?

Speaker 3 (08:47):
Worried about it?

Speaker 1 (08:48):
It's like, it's true. You gotta pay for everything.

Speaker 2 (08:51):
You say, Oh, now that you're a part of Prime,
do our deliveries coming? Quicker? I go, quicker, you just
ordered baby whites at three o'clock in the afternoon. The
guy came three forty five, How quicker, quicker do you want? Wow?

Speaker 1 (09:04):
I know but now you're a part of the Amazon family.
I mean that's that's yeah, it's royalty, it really is.
I mean you're your blood doesn't clot. What's your question?

Speaker 2 (09:12):
That is?

Speaker 1 (09:13):
Gary?

Speaker 2 (09:13):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (09:13):
You know listen, you always I feel like you always
speak to me. I love your comedy, and you just
say what's on your mind? Are you concerned at all
about you know, now that you put these specials out,
you're more mainstream, now you're going wide. Are you concerned
about cancel culture at all? And how do you feel
about it? You worried about.

Speaker 2 (09:34):
Yeah, I pretty much. Thanks for letting everyone know you
didn't see it pretty much. I shut that down in
the first two minutes of the special, But I also
follow it up. I basically say, if you're home right
now watching this and in the next hour, I offend you.
I don't care, and neither does anyone else. It's okay

(09:55):
not to like something, but to actually sit there and say,
since I don't like it, I want it taken down. Well,
that's not showing any consideration for the people that do enjoy,
because everybody has amen.

Speaker 1 (10:07):
Amen. But I also say.

Speaker 2 (10:09):
That I also say, at the end, and at the
end of this whole rant that I go on in
the first two minutes that I don't even understand this
when I first started doing this professionally. Comedy should never
be looked at as an attack. If I talk about
a heavy person and you're heavy, or I talk about
a skinny person, you're skinny, whatever have you. If I
talk about something that relates to you, laugh at yourself.

(10:29):
If you can't laugh at yourself, what do you do?
Your life is miserable because I'm not going I don't
have a perfect life. Nobody on that radio show has
a perfect life. Nobody has a perfect life. So comedy
should never be looked as an attack. Comedy should be
looked as an escape from all the stuff we deal
with on an everyday basis, and you should be able
to just forget about it for the hour that you
watch it and just laugh. Everyone's gonna look, it's.

Speaker 1 (10:50):
Absolutely it is. What is that line that we that
you love to use, Ghani about your trigger? It's not
my responsibility. Yeah, your trigger is not my responsibility. I
love it, it's not it's not.

Speaker 2 (11:00):
And Kevin Hart said something last night I watched them
on Netflix. He said, we have to start being able
to be comfortable about being uncomfortable. It's okay, Like I
laugh at myself every single day. I just realized that
I enjoy food more than sex. I just realized that
I'm forty three. It's embarrassing. But I'm living with my

(11:21):
in laws for twelve months while we renovate my house.
We have the whole top floor. My mother in law
calls me downstairs the other day as me and my
wife are starting to get down okay, and I don't
get it a lot because I live in my in
law so you could imagined between kids and my in laws,
they're just trying to block me from every angle. So
I'm starting. My mother in law calls me downstairs. We're

(11:43):
in the middle of it. She goes, Anthony, I got
bake ZD. I just to pull it out of the oven.
I stopped. My wife goes, what are you doing? I said,
I'm trying to decide what I want to do more.

Speaker 1 (11:52):
I hold ZD every time, well.

Speaker 2 (11:54):
The big ZD. I went downstairs, and you know what,
I don't even know what. My wife was more man
at the fact that I left her for ZD or
I was moaning more while I was eating the ZD,
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (12:04):
What now that that I can relate to. I'm in
on top. I'm so in. Look, I want everyone. I
want you to pay full price. Don't look for discount codes.
Don't be a cheap bastard like Scottie b.

Speaker 3 (12:20):
It's worth.

Speaker 1 (12:21):
If you don't like it, I'll pay you back. You
did not do that. We must say it. Letter from
my wife, his first and Anthony Rodilla. Of course it's
totally relatable. It's Amazon Prime, right, that's where you find

(12:42):
it and you yeah.

Speaker 2 (12:43):
Well Prime Video and it's funny how part of the
Amazon family. Uh. I think a day after I put
this on Prime Video, I got a pretty big part.
I will be on an Amazon series called Graves and
with William DeMeo, and I'll be on this.

Speaker 1 (12:58):
That's a big play.

Speaker 2 (13:01):
I play a short, stocky Italian mafia guy, which.

Speaker 1 (13:04):
I don't know if stout what they were looking for.

Speaker 2 (13:07):
But if you've seen me in person, you know I
call chubby stocky. So I'm short and stocky. So I'm
actually in the process of losing a lot of weight
because my father said to me, you know you're gonna
be on TV and a camera at the ten pounds
I said, I know, and he goes, it's gonna be
like you're sending comras. I said, what do you want
me to lose eighty pounds? So I gotta lose a
little weight. I gotta double thing. But yeah, I'm gonna

(13:29):
be a next year.

Speaker 1 (13:31):
I think they want you because of the weight you have.
I would not mess with that just a little.

Speaker 2 (13:36):
No. I want to be thin, man, I want to
be agile. I want to be able to touch my toes.

Speaker 1 (13:42):
You want to be able to see your penis once
again in this shower?

Speaker 2 (13:46):
Yes, and you know what you know. I'm fraid you
said that every man should want to do that. Look
down straight, don't don't arch it back, look down, and
you should be able to I see it, but I
can't see where it starts. That's what I.

Speaker 1 (13:56):
Want to Anthony. Everybody in here is trying that. All
the guys.

Speaker 2 (14:01):
What's accomplishing it except maybe Froggy. I've been in the
studio Danielle.

Speaker 1 (14:06):
Oh wow, and poor Danielle can't see her penis because
her mustache is too bushit.

Speaker 2 (14:16):
And carry. I'm sorry, but I've heard rumors about you.
You could even remove your stomach. I don't think he's
gonna yours.

Speaker 1 (14:24):
Again again. It is, of course, Anthony Rodilla Prime Video.
It's totally relatable. Go ahead and buy it, spend some money.
We love you, Anthony, Thanks for coming on with us
