Speaker 1 (00:01):
Get your hands together, and we're gonna stop and party start.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
I'm ready to party.

Speaker 3 (00:07):
See Elvis ter Ran after Party.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
All right, let's get into the podcast. It's the after
Party podcast. Hm, let's go.

Speaker 3 (00:23):
Where was the party?

Speaker 2 (00:25):
We're still cleaning up. I got Kayla from Rochester right here.
She needs advice. People actually call us for advice as
if we know what we're talking about exactly. We have
no credibility whatsoever. But Kayla seems to have the need
for advice, So let's go help her out. What's going on?

Speaker 4 (00:41):
Kayla, Hi, Well, my sister is just I love her
so dearly, but she's just really on my nerves because
she keeps asking me for money and it's not like
a crazy amount, but I'm broke. I can't afford to
keep sending her money. But I'm just not a super
confrontational person, and I don't know how to talk to

(01:05):
her about it. Wow.

Speaker 2 (01:07):
Does she ask for money a lot?

Speaker 4 (01:09):
Yeah, it's like every few weeks she asked me for
like a couple hundred dollars or like one thousand dollars.

Speaker 5 (01:15):
But I need to pay my New York City rent.

Speaker 4 (01:17):
So I'm from Rochester but moved to the city, and
now I can't afford to keep helping her out.

Speaker 2 (01:25):
So where there you go. Well, okay, first of all,
is she paying you back at all?

Speaker 4 (01:31):
No, she's not barling.

Speaker 2 (01:35):
That's taking.

Speaker 4 (01:39):
I know.

Speaker 5 (01:41):
Yeah, that's my sister.

Speaker 2 (01:43):
That's my point. I mean, it's your sister. You're like, uh,
you know, you can't get away from her.

Speaker 5 (01:48):
I can't.

Speaker 4 (01:48):
I can't just like not help her.

Speaker 5 (01:50):
But at the same time, I don't know what's to
because I can't keep doing it.

Speaker 4 (01:54):
You know.

Speaker 2 (01:55):
So a minute, you're going to tell to something that
happened to her Thanksgiving? What was that?

Speaker 4 (01:59):
Oh?

Speaker 5 (01:59):
Just that she didn't bring it up, like about how
she was going to pay me back. There was no
Like I thought that she was going to give me
a plan about like a payback plan, but she didn't.
Well did you did you ask her?

Speaker 2 (02:10):
Because maybe if you're not asking her, she's getting away
with it.

Speaker 5 (02:14):
I know, Well, I kind of I'm not confrontational. I
don't know how to do it.

Speaker 2 (02:18):
Well, okay, here's the thing. You don't want to be confrontational.
I get that. At the same time, you need to
pay your own bills. What you can do is to
say I can't give you any money. I don't have
any it's it's spent. I mean, I would have to
borrow money to give you money. That's a great, great one. Look,
I'm gonna have to borrow money if I If I'm
gonna give you money, that's that's that's where I am.

(02:40):
And then that puts the ball on her court to
at least respond to that. What do you think, Nate, Kayla?
Get ready for it? Elvis? What is what is it
that you say when you people ask to borrow money?
What do I say? What do I say? You'll never
see it again?

Speaker 4 (02:59):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (02:59):
That's true. Yeah, that's the thing about borrowing money. If
you lend money to someone, you have to go ahead
and just write it off. You're never going to see
that money again ever. Yeah, and if they pay it back,
it's like whoa surprise. But I don't know what do
you guys think?

Speaker 3 (03:13):
Well, I have a lot of questions about this, and
like ballpark, have you lent her like hundreds of dollars?
Thousands of dollars? Where are you at with that?

Speaker 5 (03:22):
I'd say at this point it is probably in the
thousand range.

Speaker 2 (03:25):
And how many times has she asked?

Speaker 5 (03:27):
Do you know it's it's been probably like five to
ten somewhere and not range.

Speaker 3 (03:35):
And why is it? Why is is she like falling
on hard times? What's her deal that she has to
keep borrowing money from you when she knows.

Speaker 4 (03:42):
She graduated college recently and you know, it's a pretty
terrible job market right now. So she's been trying, and
I give her pride for that. She has been trying
to like figure out what she's going to do next
and make a plan for herself.

Speaker 5 (03:58):
But she's been struggling in the meantime.

Speaker 3 (04:00):
Has she heard of only fans just.

Speaker 2 (04:07):
You have pretty feet? She only fans we get a
lot of money. Well, look at your sister, and she's
she has fallen on hard times. I get that, But
at some point, it's you can't. At some point you're
gonna you have to say I can't again, I'm gonna
have to borrow money if I heaveen with money to
give you. At this point, that's really kind of a

(04:27):
great out. But what's scary. Shame shame on her for
guilting you that way. I think that's awful.

Speaker 1 (04:35):
I mean, I understand she's your sister, but the fact
that she has this history of not paying you back
I mean, there's gotta.

Speaker 2 (04:42):
Be other things for her to do. And I know
it's a tough job market.

Speaker 1 (04:46):
But along the lines of what Gandhi said, maybe she's
she's learned how to dance on a pole somewhere.

Speaker 2 (04:50):
I don't know, you said. I'm telling you that.

Speaker 4 (04:55):
I know.

Speaker 1 (04:55):
Listen, if you're desperate, desperate times call for desperate measures.
You gotta do what you gotta do to get through. Yeah,
tell your sister go dance on a pole.

Speaker 2 (05:03):
Year Jones Scarry Jones that, well, look, you know you
do want to be there for her, but she you
have to tell her that there's got to be another way.
I don't have the money. I just can't. What am
I supposed to do? You know? And she doesn't guilt you, though,
does she say things that make you feel guilty if
you if you sound like you're not going to give
her money.

Speaker 4 (05:24):
It's not it's not like she's trying to guilt me directly,
but like she says things that make me feel bad
for her.

Speaker 5 (05:30):
You know, she she knows I sympathize with her, and
so I think that she kind of plays that card
a little a little bit.

Speaker 2 (05:37):
All right, Well, sorry, good luck with that good luck.
Can you loan us some money? I could use some cash.
I promise you if you gave us one hundred dollars
right now, we will pay you back.

Speaker 3 (05:49):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (05:51):
Yeah, Well, best of luck to you, Kyla. Let us
know how that turns out. All right, You're very welcome.
Take care Kayla. Again, if they ask to borrow money,
you're never going to see it again.

Speaker 1 (06:04):
But I feel like, what if she put her on
a payment plan where she pays about twenty.

Speaker 3 (06:07):
Dollars ten dollars were not ten dollars like you know.

Speaker 2 (06:11):
Every two weeks at least something. It is something asking
her for the ten dollars to.

Speaker 4 (06:15):
Pay her I know, But I'm just saying, I don't know.

Speaker 2 (06:20):
How many people, Elvis, how many people ask you for money?
A day? Oh? Every it's almost every day I have
someone asking me, really absolutely, and a lot of a
lot of them, I don't even know. We have a
lot of people to listen to our show that you know,
they fall on the hard times and they're like, hey,
I really need some and no, I mean I've got
VENMO requests before from total strangers.

Speaker 3 (06:40):
Oh yeah, totally they need help.

Speaker 1 (06:42):
Isn't it true though, that once you say yes to
somebody once, then they'll just keep coming back over and
over and over again.

Speaker 2 (06:48):
I'm finding that to be the case in some situations. Yeah,
it's like, you know, when you feed the neighborhood cat,
the cat's to come back from more and bring it
to other cats ran after.

Speaker 5 (07:00):

Are You A Charlotte?

Are You A Charlotte?

In 1997, actress Kristin Davis’ life was forever changed when she took on the role of Charlotte York in Sex and the City. As we watched Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte navigate relationships in NYC, the show helped push once unacceptable conversation topics out of the shadows and altered the narrative around women and sex. We all saw ourselves in them as they searched for fulfillment in life, sex and friendships. Now, Kristin Davis wants to connect with you, the fans, and share untold stories and all the behind the scenes. Together, with Kristin and special guests, what will begin with Sex and the City will evolve into talks about themes that are still so relevant today. "Are you a Charlotte?" is much more than just rewatching this beloved show, it brings the past and the present together as we talk with heart, humor and of course some optimism.
